Paranormal Society

This is an amazing place. We have stayed here overnight at least 3 times and it has been the experience of a lifetime. The staff is super friendly and helpful with any questions. The place is beyond creepy and confirm without a doubt it is haunted. The lights go out and spirits come out. Worth a stop! Always book in advance this place is very busy. Get their early on the overnight tours the shop is only open before your tour. Make a trip!

Brandon Prime

Bill and Aloha lead an amazing tour. These guides were former employees of the prison, were extremely knowledgeable, patient and personable. I would highly recommend going on this tour. I will need to return when housing unit 4 are reopened. What an amazing part of history!

Amanda Hrabusicky

Guide was great. I learned so much more than I anticipated. I love history and the history tour did not disappoint. They have ghost tours as well.

Maria Parker

Spooky experience!! Great history and FANTASTIC staff

Scott Summers

It's was alright. I felt a "presence" in the isolation wing, not my first time experiencing paranormal activity.

Andre Chan

With nearly 163 years of history, this old prison is definitely interesting. On the tour, you'll visit some main housing areas for prisoners, showering rooms, pitch black cells where you literally can't see anything, gas chambers used for severe crimes, and more. Each area has a different story you'll be told before you're free to explore. Many infamous criminals and little stories bring up small talk as you go on the tour, which, is in fact run by former workers of the penitentiary. It isn't scripted or anything, where they ramble on about something they don't know or care about. It's awesome that they share their knowledge and experience with the public. Don't bring a bunch of money, because there aren't any souvenirs, to my belief. It's a great experience, even if you're not the most interested. It'll be fun in the end, because the tour guides are so much fun.

Regina Erickson

Loved the tour, got a great picture of an apparition.

Karen Mienheartt

This tour was awesome! We took the Warden's tour and our guide was very well versed with the facts. I would recommend this for to everyone!

Brandon M

This tour was excellent! One of the old prison wardens was our tour guide and his insight made the entire experience. You really get a feel for what it was like to have been a prisoner back in the day here. You're allowed to wander through all the cells and walk the catwalks even 4 stories up! They have period amenities in the prison cells to give you an idea of what the prison looked like back in the day. The most chilling part is going inside the gas chamber and sitting in the exact chairs that many people spend their last moments. Amazing tour, two thumbs up!

Missi Love

Alot of damage from the todnado

Phillip Bishop

The tour tells it straight. I spent a couple years in that war zone. Last or the real prisons. It was a hard place. The armpit of the world! You watched your step as it was prison not a correctional center where they baby you. Got in a bad situation there you could easily end up dead. Want a true history experience then take this tour. And you have no idea about the strange things you heard and saw if you lived there! Is it haunted? Guaranteed!!!!!

Richard Brown

Was a great tour. Well worth spending the time. Very informed tour guide.

Lynne Hobler

Michael was an awesome guide. Lots of good information. Very much worthwhile.

Beth Wiles

I have toured 3 times. Once in the day, once at night and then a special paranormal investigation by an outside company. Hands down the tours by the JC folks are the best tours. They share the history about the buildings and stories about the people that stayed there. This is a “gotta do” tour. Day and evening tours are different and both are great

Chris Humphrey

Good stories and a good tour

John Mers

A very moving and informative presentation of an historical corrections facility in our state. I have wanted to take this tour for quite a long time. I am glad I was finally able to do it. Our tour guide, Michael, was a wealth of information. It was very evident that he had done research on this facility He brought the buildings, it's inmates, and former staff to life. It is amazing to visit a site with such history, and so close to the state capitol building!

Krackerpino

Very informative tours and they let you explore on your own as well.

Jeremy Whitehill

Fascinating piece of history having a retired warden from the facility was a plus.

Penny N.P.

As far as paranormal activity goes, not too much going on. With that being said, the buildings are amazing. So beautiful and timeless. I would definitely go back again. If you're looking for a tour with knowledgeable tour guides then this place is perfect.

K D

Very interesting ghost tour. Loved the history and back stories. Didn't see or hear anything. But I would recommend the tour.

Keri El Armali

I went on he ghost tour. It was super fun! The tour guides were fun, friendly and full of information. I will definitely do this again.

Debbie Roe

Great tour. Actually seen an real strong orb.

Sarah Eibeck

This is definitely a tour worth taking. I thoroughly enjoyed it and our guide clearly loves what she does, she presented all the history in a way that made it very interesting and had a lot of great stories to back it up. I might go again someday for the 3 hour haunted tour. Even If ghosts aren't your thing this place is worth going to visit just for the history and just to see the inside of such a place.

melanie craig

Cool and awesome time had here. Can't wait to do this again. We will definitely go for the 5 or 8 hour next time

Thomas Shepherd

The tour is amazing. Definitely something to check out!

minghao liu

Pretty educational, but you need to follow the guided tours to get in. There are several options for the guided tour offering different flavours and variations, at different price points. I'd suggest getting the $15 per person tour which lasts 2 hours. Overall the tour was worth it and I've learned a lot and seen things I've never seen before.

Joshua Appel

Excellent, excellent, excellent! What amazing tour guides - they really made the tour come alive with their real life accounts of times when the prison was in working order. This is a trip that I'll never forget. Visiting the gas chamber was very eerie indeed - it's surreal to think that you could be standing in a room when so many men were deliberately executed. The whole experience really opens up your eyes to life outside of your own little world. Bravo to the staff. Well organized tour, great information.

Robert Bixby

One of the best historical tours I've been on

John Foster

More interesting than I had thought. Guide was fantastic, and no full body cavity search. Lol

Donna Tropical

Fascinating old history. Our tour guide was a prison guard who made our tour very interesting and informative.

Joshua Merrick

The tour guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the prison. My kids both are convinced they saw paranormal activity in a couple of the cells. They said they saw things moving and sales that were locked. Specifically cell number 124. It would be cool to go back to one of their ghost paranormal research tours. Also a great reminder of why you don't want to be in prison.

Twila Lee

Our tour guide was amazing! His name was Mike. Enjoyed listening to him. Very full if information and a joy to listen to! I enjoyed it so much! I will be back with friends!

Jennifer Smithson

I absolutely loved this tour and the history. I'd go back and take the longer tour.

Holly Corbett

If you love history or paranormal this is the place to go. The guides are amazing and it was so worth the money. We paid for the 5 hour overnight paranormal tour and weren't disappointed. It was so much fun. I plan on going back and doing the history tour and paranormal tour. I highly recommend this place.

Teresa Matthews

What a blast. Very cool basic ghost tour, where you can experience some serious creepiness. Gas chamber at the end is sobering.

Katie Heuer

Went for a ghost hunt and was not disappointed

Brian Addis

Phenomenal guide! Couldn't ask for a better tour. So much information that it could probably be expanded past the 3 hour tour. Tour guide was a previous corrections officer

mtugglet

Better than Alcatraz I really enjoyed this tour. Mark clearly loves doing the tours and it was nice to have an actual tour guide (rather than the self guided thing Alcatraz does). The tour was both fascinating and appalling! Prison was used until very recently. Conditions must have been abysmal! Oh, and there are groundhogs!

Karen Cook

Such a fun tour. Melonie told us great history about The buildings. It was a Spooky good time Her staff was great too. Thanks Cory

Josh Alecci

Amazing experience and blast from the past!! Our tour guy Michael was highly knowledgeable about the history, was an incredible tour guide and keeps you entertained along the tour! Also, Has an answer to every question asked. I highly recommend you take the tour, we plan on coming back for a ghost tour soon!!!

Marti Shanks

We visited the MSP last week. What an interesting historical place to visit! We did the 2 hour tour. The tour guide was very good. A former employee of the prison. He knew all the important facts, and shared some funny stories! I advise this to be included on your next Missouri trip!

Belle Gray

Good tour. Quite interesting. Good guides.

Alan Seufert

Tour was good, lots of history and stories. Still in it's infancy as far as visual aesthetics, worth the price of admission.

Guy C

History was great. To my delight, saw no ghost though!

Blindsorceror

We had such a great time visiting the prison!!! We took part in the 8pm 2 hour ghost tour. We had a very large group, about 30 people, which was a downer, but we loved the history, culture, and creepy stories the guides told us. I would definitely recommend this for adults and families alike. The only negative part of the tour, which wasn’t even the tour guides fault, is the repurposing and tearing down of the prison. I wish we loved more importance on historical landmarks like this!

Brandon Hopson

Great place to stop and tour. The guides here are wonderful amd can answer any question you have. Definitely would recommend. Make sure to make a reservation before you go though there are usually a lot in a tour.

Darren Plattner

The regular 2-hour tour was fantastic. Totally worth it. All three of our kids (ages 12, 14, 16) loved it.

Courtney K

A friend and I took the 2hr tour. We find it very interesting learning about the history of the penitentiary. Our tour guides created a fun in depth learning experience.

Dustin Keith

This was a awesome experience. I learned a great deal of history.

kingrichardjoe Da amazing

During the first years of my stay in this hotel, I was very sad. However, I "checked out early" if you know what Imean. Left a hole in the wall, so If you see that, give credit to me and my plastic spoon from the cafeteria.

Tracy Cantrell

Michael amd Nadine were our tour guides and Michael was an amazing guide, very knowledgeable. I highly recommend taking this tour.

brianna elliott

Awesome place to visit! So much history and quite a few ghosts along the way!

Jesse Hebisen

The Missouri State Penitentiary is incredible. We did the three hour history tour led by Michael and Vernon. The buildings are filled with an overwhelming amount of history and I cannot imagine anyone could relay it better than our tour guide, Michael. He was the absolute best tour guide I have ever had. It was so interesting my twelve and fourteen year old were engaged and excited throughout. I cannot think of a better recommendation than to say - a THREE HOUR HISTORY TOUR kept the interest of a young teen and preteen and they came away saying it was "awesome". I concur - it was awesome.

Heather Duncan

I had my right cheek touched very gently while we were in pitch black in the dungeons (and there were no living humans to my right) and saw a shadow figure pacing and watching us on death row. Other than that, uneventful....but the history and architecture were well worth the tour also. Want to do the overnight tour now.

MrCoyotebob

Great place to do a tour

Lizeth

This place is honestly overrated. They only show you 3 parts of the prison and talk for most of the time instead of actually letting you tour around the area. Price isn’t bad but for what they show, it’s definitely worth less. Not to mention they won’t install AC, and have you buy water beforehand, just to provide water free after minutes. Receptionist was RUDE when we had to reschedule our visit, asked why we waited last minute (none of their business) & told us others could’ve used our spots.

Jennifer Ellington

One of the best experiences i have ever had!!

Lisa Savvy

Had a great tour guide - he actually worked there when it was in use. The visit was very insightful, fascinating and a little sad all at once. But, as far as tours go, I recommend it. We were there for an 8th grade tour of the capitol, so I added this to the tour, and it was a good add. We took the one hour tour - I recommend the 2 hour tour if you have the time.

Allen Ward

Good visit but don't want to live there. It was very interesting tour and learn about that time.

James Griffin

Wish it was open. Looked great from the outside still had closed due to tornado

Stephanie Hogan

A fun tour ‘off the beaten path.’ Lots of history inside those walls, a creepy place to tour, you get great coverage of the grounds and the freedom to explore some of the buildings on your own briefly. Guides are knowledgeable and entertaining- ours was a former guard at the prison and had great stories. Great variety of tour offerings- we want to go back for the ghost hunt! Prison Brews is right around the corner for some beer & eats after.

Lori J Wilson

Fantastic trip - loved the whole experience. Recommend at least the 3 he tour. Easy train ride from KC or St Louis. Quick walk a block away.

Kimberly Hopkins

Could be very interesting but depends on your tour guide. We heard a lot about the state not carrying about history because they are demolishing a few of the old buildings. History was limited but still a good way to spend a couple hours while in town.

Angel Luecke

Chances are they will be closed. Make sure you go to the website and reserve a tour. Did reserve and go on the tour. It was very educational. We got to see a lot of the jail and was very glad we went

Tyler Sorensen

Really awesome tour, very friendly and personable staff! I went on the ghost tour and it was awesome, i would definitely visit again.

Kaisea s

I can't wait to go back for another haunted tour! It was informative, creepy and so much fun!

James Mike Collins

Very cool place. I look forward to coming back and doing another tour at some point. Well worth the drive

DA Coffman

Michael and Gretchen are fantastic tour guides! Big part of history that you must see. The stories told are incredible and fascinating!

Vicki Kramer

I recommend but not for children. Interesting history. Not the place to go if you need cheering up.

Cheryl Kowalski

We really enjoyed our tour. Mike and Gretchen were excellent tour guides. The knowledge of the inmates and what happen in the Wall was very exciting. Walking thru the buildings gave you just a glimpse of what it was like when it was up and running. It makes you wanting to know more. So I bought 1 book in gift shop. Now on to buy more books about the Wall.

Sherri Tabron

Tourist site now. So much history that you have to drive around the entire property to understand the history. Tours are available for 35.00 per person.

Scott H

Very cool place to stop by! The tour guide was amazing with endless stories. Unfortunately I do not remember her name. Make sure to try the night tour. There is also a JCPD officer with every night group which keeps people under contol.

C. Thomas

2 hour tour is not that great. At the beginning, a lot time is wasted listening to stories that are stretched too long. We did not tour H-Hall or the mess hall which was a big disappointment. They did not let us go up into a guard tower which would be really nice. I had hoped to see more than just the oldest building and part of another. We did get to see the gas chamber but the tour guide made all of walk outside the entire three sides of the prison walls to get to the gas chamber when we could have just walked down there through the prison grounds. Maybe the 3 hour tour is better? I wanted to see H-Hall, the kitchen, the mess hall, and go up in a guard tower.... Also wanted to see the other buildings.

Tammy McDonald

Excellent experience. Looking forward to another trip soon.

Megan Gilbert

Awesome background on the history of this place. Our tour guides Mike and Vernon were incredible as well.

John V

Great tour. Very informative and eye opening. Long history which was brought to life by our tour guide, Mike, one of the former Wardens at this facility. I recommend it for sure

Renee Green

We did one of the short ghost tours, it was very interesting. I would recommend doing a little longer one so you have more time to explore and hear more information

Emily Sweet

Very good tour. Our tour guide was a nurse at the Penitentiary years ago and had a lot of knowledge to share with us. Its a shame that the wall is going to be tore down

Harold Newton

I just parked my bus there

Becca E.

Lt.Greene was a fantastic tour guide. Tons of interesting, historical knowledge.

Robert Sutton

Tour was very interesting very hands on able to walk through individual cells visiting different cell blocks. Well worth the time and cost.

Connie Hawkins

We enjoyed it greatly. Very informative. Our guide was Warden, he used to be a Warden there and gave a lot of inside information. If you are planning on coming to Jefferson City this is a must see.

Chris F.

Really cool tour. Our tour guide, Mr.Green was really informative and fun.

Cate Ward

Excellent Tour Guides. I wish we could have seen more!

raddaradda radda-radda-radda

It's a fun spooky experience to do around Halloween.

Chris Shipman

If you did time there how would you feel about the place? Personally, I did the crime I was there for. That doesn't mean it was enjoyable. Although at times I had a blast. LOL Many untold stories. Some learning and growth. Plenty of depression and isolation.

Kagan Wolfe

The perfect amount of creepy and nostalgia come with every visit to the old prison. Get the chance to see ghosts or learn about the harsh realities of life behind bars on the tours they provide.

Susan Lampley

The tours are highly recommended. Great people, informed guides, and very spooky! Adults only. We plan to return this fall.

Teresa Harrington

Make sure you get Michael for your tour guide. He was great!

Randy Dimmett

I took the paranormal tour a few years ago, and it was a lot of fun to walk around the prison at night. The tour seemed to attract a few people who were really into ghost sightings (even claiming to see a few of their own). The tour guide talked a lot about the history of the prison while mixing in some interesting ghost stories and sightings from the past. We recently went back for the daytime tour, which focused much more on the history and the prisoners that stayed in the prison. Even without the ghost stories, the guide was interesting enough for my 11 and 14-year-old to enjoy the 2 hr tour. Even though it was hot outside, most of the tour was in the shade or in the cool buildings. Tour guide Michael and assistant Aloha made sure everyone enjoyed the experience.

Violet Pratte

It is not a really good place for ages 13 and under. Very cool to experience how prisoners we're living there. The staff was very friendly.

Ally Cooper

We did 10hour overnight tour/hunt with ghost hunts usa, it was so much fun! Been there twice now for overnight ghost hunts. Strong activity going on there!❤❤

Michelle Beckler

Spend the extra and take the longer tour. You won't regret it!

Beth Reifsteck

You can't miss this! Very informative and interesting. Did the 2 hour tour so there wasn't much time in each area and felt a bit rushed. Next time I will do the longer tour.

NIck Inman

Visited the MSP yesterday! Mike was our tour guide. He did awesome. He was formerly a Correctional Officer for the prison. We did the three hour history tour. The history tour goes over the front building and women's cell blocks, cell block a, the dungeon, cell blocks b&c, death row, and the gas chamber. It never got boring or tiresome. It was very fun and educational. Would love to go back and do a ghost tour. I wish we could visit the 1930s cell blocks like f and g. Unfortunately they will probably be torn down in the coming years.

Bryan Breen

Did the tour with ghost hunt USA and there was just way to many people to get any evidence at all. Everyone was laughing and joking around. I did enjoy seeing the prison though might have to try again some day but with the MSP staff instead with a private investigation

Cynthya Boyuka

Great times! While the "ghost hunt " was pretty crowded and you cannot control the giggly peeps, nor the talkers and naysayers, the place yielded LOTS of fun, EVPS, shadow people and the workers are WONDERFUL! They are so knowledgeable about the history and ghosts! Some of them worked there when it was operational, but they all love their job and are passionate about everyone having a great time. We're going back for an overnight stay with my paranormal group, so I would say the price as overall tour is WORTH IT!

Susan Stanton

Learned alot nd was fun! Make sure you go when it is warmer outside!

Jeff Peck

Great historical site and a fun little excursion. Our guides Ray and Aloha were very friendly and knowledgeable. Walking into a cell just puts a little chill down your spine. The gas chamber building was interesting and the historical figures that were once residents here was fascinating. I commend the citizens who work hard to preserve this facility and offer it to the public. Highly recommend this to any visitor.

Gary Manley

The investigation was to crowded. To much contamination, Team member giving the tour was not respectful to the spirits at all. It was very unorganized once you checked in nobody told you where to go. The location is great place to visit.. lots of history and information they don't tell in school.

Sue Savage

Really enjoyed the 3 hour history tou.r Very informative. Learned a lot of disturbing things about the nature of humans. Bill was a great guide!

Rubin Lozano

Your eyes will b opened at the devastation and the Will of human strength and the want of rebuilding Thier home's...

Sharon Smith

Lot of old history!! Very interesting!

Jonathan Flood

Great place to visit highly recommended if you've never been there, Guids are very knowledgeable.

Cal Graves

Super intruiging historical landmark!!

Bert Cox

closed for an extended period of time. reopens in October

Elizabeth Burns

Enjoyed the tour but it was a bit long and hard to listen for that long, but it was really interesting see everything. The tour guide was great and had interesting facts to listen too.

Phyllis Downs

We loved the Ghost Tour, just wish it didn't feel so rushed. We will definitely go back for a longer tour next time. Well worth the trip from St. Louis.

Wesley Ford

Great tour guides very knowledgeable!

Michele Willis

We went on the two hour tour, but could have stayed longer. What a great, informative tour. Our guide was a guard at the prision for more than 30 years. Don't miss this one, it's well worth it.

Brian Trudell

A lot of history there it's pretty cool seeing at night didn't see any ghosts maybe next time

Skye Gray

Missouri State Penitentiary was an exciting and scary look into the past of criminal corrections. If your into dark history this is a must see. Notable people who have been locked up here are Sonny Liston and James Earl Ray (MLKs killer). The tour guide is fantastic.

Golden Killer911

Our guide Gary and Verb were great! Thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Will be back for the ghost tours.

1st 420

It’s on old spooky prison. The tour was pretty cool and the staff was super friendly. Its worth the hour to see what prison life was like

Kat Workman

This was so amazing! Did the 8hr overnight ghost hunt! The people were absolutely AMAZING! I actually got a creepy shadow down in 3-D where they housed criminally insane

Jasmine Hall

A great place to experience the history of the state penitentiary. It has slight creeps, but who wouldn't wanna get scared in a prison?

Cindy Crawford

Awesome building.. Drawback way to large of a group to be ghost hunting.. because of this I wouldn't do it again.. over $100 per person and just too many people.

Kim Grimes

Fun place with a lot of interesting history. It is cold though so dress warm.

Christina Waugh

Very interesting and well worth the money. If you are a history buff....definitely worth it!

Brian Hogan

Great tour and guide. Super interesting.

Michael Stowers

Definitely worth the money if into facts and history. The tour fulfilled the entire time it was supposed to....full of information from people who either worked there or was incarcerated there. (So they experienced it) they allow as many queations as needed. They actually encourage questions. Tour guides were very friendly and knowledgeable.

Lisa Muelleman

We did the 2 hour history tour and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Our guide had the right balance of story, history and information

Dwight Barlow

Lots of interesting info. Still not a believer in the supernatural. There was an "sighting" but the only one who "saw something" happened to be the guide. Other than that I enjoyed myself. I recommend you go on a 3 hr tour tho. The 2 hr one isn't long enough and you dont get to see the psych ward on the 2 hr tour.

William Day

My wife, daughter and I took the tour today. The two guides, Michael an Gwen did a wonderful job. You could tell that they both really enjoyed telling others about the history of the prison. There wasn't one boring minute in the whole two hour tour. We would like to thank them very much!! It was two hours well spent. Any history buff would get a lot out of the tour. You get to see the cells of Sony Liston and James Earl Ray.

Rebekah Scott

So much fun! Excellent tour guide!!! We will definitely be going again @

terry burks

Went today while wife was here on business.. First we sat down and listened to the guide talk for 20 mins, then went outside and he talked about a prison cat buried there after. Living there 16 years, then went into the only one of two cell blocks and sat down and he talked again for 15 mins. The guided was knowledgeable and loved his job Bless his heart quit talking.. So total saw two cell blocks and then drove down to the gas chamber and saw that 2 hour tour. It was only 15 bucks . But we could of seen more prison and less talking

Warren Cope

Two hour tour, great tour guide. Good history of the prison and the changes over its 100+ yr history. Able to explore in a couple of the cell areas. This included what 100 years ago was the dungeon. Extreme, almost torture, in light deprived cellar. Seems so inhumane. But it was part of the history. However, horrible. Toured with our family. There are steps to navigate and younger children would need to be watched. There isn't much of a safety railing and we were allowed to go up to the fourth floor and explore cells there. For anyone not able to do many steps, staying on the first floor doesn't lessen the experience. The cells are the same and many areas to explore on the ground floor. One issue -- Port-a-potties (no real restrooms) Plan ahead for the two hour tour.

Dave Graham

I was convicted by the State and incarcerated here. Now I'm convicted by the Holy Spirit and visit here. It's a great place to go and find peace of mind and see the people who wonder what has happened to the broken soul's who've wondered in and out of the walls that stand on the banks of the beautiful Missouri River. I recommend this attraction to anyone, young or old, traveling through Jefferson City.

Rosetta Nelson-Chick

Great tour, ready to go back for night tour.

Susan bradford

The tour was informative. Good place to visit and learn more about some interesting history

Rob Stachowicz

Amazing place. Amazing history. Amazon haunted. Been there many times. Best staff and always a pleasure

Brittany

I did the basic 2 hour history tour with my gentleman. The tour went through a few places that are open in the prison. You learn about the history, specific people, and the stories from out of the prison. Our guide, Michael and Elise, were great. Michael was very knowledgeable about the prison. He definitely puts his own time into always learning more. I wish the tour was longer. I feel like I need more time to explore and physically see what we are able. We got to venture around a little and it reeled me in. They have other tours they offer and I definitely plan on going back soon.

Christine Boston

Fun location for tours and info.

Thomas Smith

Awesome experience, we took a group of high school kids and it was very interesting. The tour guide we're awesome and very knowledgeable. Thanks to Micheal and Aloha our tour guides.

Red Wolf

Really cool history. I have been on 3 tours. I highly recommend it if you enjoy history or ghost stories.

Matt Taylor

We took a two hour information tour today and it was fantastic. Information wise we learned a lot and had a few laughs thanks to our awesome tour guide Mr. Green. The lovely lady who was corralling our group was also very pleasant and helped us out with some great picture spots and info. The architecture and age of the prison is amazing. Absolutely a ton of information. We strongly recommend anyone interested in photography, architecture, history, and just cool places to check this out! We went in to the two hour tour to take pictures. Information wise the tour is perfect. If you're going to get good shots you should definitely do the photo tour (sold out this weekend or we would of.) This is not a complaint but a suggestion.

Mary Phillips

Was very interesting! Wasn't sure what to expect but was a great tour! Can't imagine having to exist in a place like it. Enough to make a person stay on the right side of the law.....

Sundown McCupcake

We went to the 10 pm ghost tour last night, and was not disappointed! Diane (I believe, hey, it was late!) was our guide and I loved her no nonsense style and incredible stories. I happened to have an orb grow out of nothing right in front of me, and got a really great picture of it, too! The prison is a very sad and spooky place, and we were able to go completely dark in one of the isolation cells. It was heartbreaking to think some people were left in there for months or even years, for sometimes small or no infractions at all. Book way ahead of time, I made the mistake of waiting two days to make a reservation, and the night we wanted was already sold out a month ahead!

gio dan

Scary and interesting place, the tour is worth every penny.

Kelly LF

Amazing historic tour! Our tour guide, Lt Green was fantastic! He was entertaining and VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE! I would recommend this tour to anyone in the area and it's also worth the trip, it's what we came for and were not disappointed! Would love to do the paranormal tour sometime!

Rodney Yoswig

We had an amazing time visiting this prison, So much to see and experience. This is like entering a place where time itself stands still. It's eerie standing inside the cells which once house some rather unique people. The one that really gets your attention is the opportunity to actually sit inside the Gas death chamber. Spend a few hours exploring you really enjoy the visit. Hopefully you won't get our tour guide, he talked nonstop way to much telling personal stories, instead of letting us explore like other tour guides have done.

Tina Swartz

Exceeded my expectations!!! Melanie and Jenny were amazing tour guides!! Their knowledge was superior on all of the history and happenings within the penitentiary. Priced extremely reasonable and our family will be back for a private overnight tour for sure!!

Noah Costine

Ghost tour was cool, the tour guide was a good guy!

Billy Glock

Diana, Bill, and Billy we're great!!! We had two great groups touring MSP today outstanding people. Like Jed says " y'all come back now ya hear".

Jamie Maynard

My friend and I took our daughters on a mother daughter investigation. Loved the fact that you get to go investigating on your own after the group's are finished. Seen many shadow spirits, kept seeing a red orb that seemed attached to me and a brown orb attached to my friend, and our hair played with. Genuinely believe there's many spirits here. The only downfalls to this were the group's are WAY to big. To many people there all at once. And I can't for the life of me understand why non believers, drunk people, and people who just want to laugh about everything, pay the money to go. You RUIN the opportunity for those of us truly wanting to connect with these spirits and entities with all the laughter and goofing off. BREATHALYZERS should be mandatory! And bags checked for bringing in alcohol.

Tour guides were a bit goofy with their goofy personal stories "scary" stories. But still loved the experience! The history alone of the prison is extraordinary.

Pretty cool place. If you are into crime, punishment, or historic places - this is a great place for you! Ray, one of the tour guides, is a great story teller. Really enjoyed this tour and think it is worth the price. I'm not much into the ghost tour thing, so we just did the historic tour but they say you stand a good chance of seeing some strange stuff.
