September is a great time to go here. Very busy otherwise. We camped, it was a beautiful spot on the river. We ate at the restaurant, delicious food we took the cavern tour, it was awesome. We zip lined for our first time, it was so awesome, great guides Layne and El. Thanks for a great experience. Then to finish off our 3 day stay we took the river boat ride. A great guide and a beautiful river

Kasey M

It was a great attraction! It kept the kids (5&8) entertained and is a nice guided tour although our guide spoke really fast! The caverns are well maintained and clean. Happy to support it's preservation! The kids liked the outdoor mining feature too.

Jessica Imhoff

Amazing place to see. Wish prices weren't so high. Hard to afford with a large family.

Donna LeMonier

Really nice tour. I would have given it 5 but it was often difficult to hear. It's a walking tour but was in a group of about 50. TOOOOOO many to hear well. Other than that super!!

Gowtham Sagi

Loved the experience, especially the short movie on the walls of the cave. The movie is projected on the walls of the cave formed millions of years ago. The water is so pure as we can see the reflections of formations in water.

Jennifer Riendeau

Awesome stop! So glad we took the time. Make sure to wear tennis shoes and maybe even a sweatshirt. But loved every second of it!

Cool little stop on our recent vacation. The tour we were on was a small group, maybe 12-15 people total. This is a privately owned cave, so it isn't quite like the national park caverns I've been to previously. There are a lot of railings that are well placed and the walking path is all concrete and very smooth and safe to walk on. A few more stairs than I expected and the ramps are steep which was a bit tough on my knees. The formations and river were very cool to see, plus there was some history mixed in with the Jesse James connection. Overall a good tour. The light show at the end was interesting. It felt a little forced, but the kids liked it. I would have been fine just seeing the natural formations with a little light to be able to see.

SavagePotato04

I loved the tour! Our tour guide was funny, and explained a lot! I went there when I was younger but didn't really remember much. I went again and I loved it. Here are some pictures I took while there | | V

This is an awesome experience. You get a guided tour of a cave system. Our guide also gave history of how the caves were discovered and important events that happened. Wonderful activity if you have kids. It is some walking, but they have ramps through out the caves.

Melanie Sucher

Loved this place. Little steep in price, but I have no clue what it takes to operate this place. The only thing I didn't like, is you don't have a lot of time to take pictures. I get that it's a long tour, but would have liked a couple minutes to get some good pictures.

Francis Zaun

If I lived closer I'd be there all the time. The tour of caves I thought was pricey at first for being privately owned for decades but after experiencing the views, the history and awesome tour guide I'd pay double. The sights were so beautiful and as clique as it sounds breathtaking. You know how you walk into a place and feel 2 inches tall and completely humbled, that's the feeling you get from the caves. I loved it, my fiance' loved it and our children LOVED it. It is slippery, damp and frigid at times so bring good sneaks and a sweater. Have fun!

Julie Glenn

The place is obviously a tourist attraction with the large seating restaurant, gift shop galore and fudge shop--all very well taken care of. The restaurant actually had a good selection menu-the fries are excellent. The cave walkways are paved, so someone with a wheelchair may be able to go, but don't take my say so-call first to find out for sure. Outside is a ice cream shop and a zip line. Even a campground and canoe/kayak dropoff site by the parking lot.

Our family had an amazing time here! Very interesting and affordable as far as vacation destinations go. We went in the off season and only visited the caverns and gift shop, but it was a lot of fun. We had a 5 year old, four 10 year olds, a 12 year old, and a 14 year old and 5 adults. We all had a wonderful experience. The presentation at the Stage Curtain was really cool. We will definitely visit again.

PrivateEmpire

Okay, so the cave itself was amazing. But the production at the end, in the “theater room”...it was incredibly odd and uncomfortable. They projected a PowerPoint presentation onto this beautiful cave wall, with the presentation given to the tune of a thundering “God Bless America.” There was just slide after slide of non sequiter images interlaced with bible quotes. It all seemed incredibly inappropriate to me; to be honest it kind of sullied the whole experience a bit. Left with an odd taste in my mouth.

Dale Wilson

Really cool place. Not something you see everyday. Good story behind it. Good prices in the the gift shop

Thomas Baker

This was a fun natural attraction to visit. Informative and fun tour. I would hate to be the guy who has to does the maintenance on the lights! Well worth the trip.

Austin Harris

Incredible natural wonder! An absolute must see. All the staff is very nice, especially Ricky!! Will definitely be back!!

Scott Stoltenberg

Had a great tour, cost was reasonable compared to other attractions. Staff did a good job of keeping the field trips separate from the cavern tours. We about left when we saw the field trip buses unloading, but found out we could still have a good time since they managed the large number of kids. Will visit again.

Lily Kolesa

Great cave tour! I’ve only ever been here a few times in my life, but I feel like every time I go the tour is completely different yet full of great information. It’s a great experience if you’re in the area. The only reason I took off a star was because of how expensive it was per person.

Dominic P

Incredibly boring. Couldn’t tell what the tour guide was saying in between his incredibly cringey jokes. And that video at the end? Terrible.

Mandy Cobb

Our family had a great time! The end of the tour was our favorite. The kids, ages 11 to 17, really enjoyed the mining! Definitely going to go back and hopefully try the zipline next time!

Charlie 00

Tourist trap-ish but still very beautiful! My tour guide had a hilarious sense of dry humor and made the whole experience very funny. I don't remember his name but he's the one with glasses. No matter what tour guide you get, its worth going to. Very beautiful!

Alex Knoppe

Cool place to get out of the heat on a summer day. I brought a 4 and 7 year old and they had a blast.

otto long

Visited here a while back and was really impressed! A fantastic example of a naturally for Ozark cave system! Some curious displays and attractions near the front entrance and one of the more interesting features is, loot rock, a location used by the Jesse James Gang as a hideout! They also had at least one escape route from there through a smaller cave system opening! Several movies have been filmed at this location Due to the magnificent natural Cave formations! A most enjoyable trip and the nearby Merrimack River and State Park provide ample floating, fishing and camping! Not to mention picnics! There is also Merrimack Springs, which is not too far away! I highly recommend that visit as well!

Chuck G

Didn't visit the cavern this trip. It has been years since I last went in so need to do that again also. This trip was specifically for the zip line. Highly highly recommended! Very well laid out with a variety of challenges. The four zip lines and three sky bridges give a variety of lengths, heights, and speeds. Leave your fear of heights at home --- or --- come meet that fear. P.S. Be ready to climb some steps too. Is well worth the money!

Kristi Lewis

Awesome cave! Our guide Connor was excellent. We have been to several caves, but this one was different from the others. Large "rooms", and a pretty easy walk, most of the time. There is a fairly steep ramp, at one point, and 58 stairs up to the "Wine Room", but the walkways are concrete, and pretty easy to navigate. Loved it! My whole family recommends it!

Beth Klenke

Even though we don't live too far from Meramec Caverns we hadn't been there in years. I had forgotten how beautiful the cave is and our tour guide did a fantastic job. We also took the Riverboat cruise and it was really fun. We saw lots of …

Tammie Pollard

So glad we stopped! 1. Beautiful cave— a real wonder! 2. Interesting history. 3. Patriotic tour finale of "Greatest Show Under the Earth" was appreciated! 4. Shantelle was an awesome tour guide—full of knowledge and ready to answer questions! So glad we had jackets;)

P.H.

The tour was a lot of fun. The tour is 80 minutes of knowledge packed in the best scenery that you can only get with nature. The food court is convenient. One of the kids in our group did the mining. Not real mining but still a lot of fun for the kids.

Matt Reicheneker

Love going to! Have done a wonderful job over the years in improving and adding more to the area. Can't miss the signs, so don't miss a chance to visit some time! Jesse James hideout is too cool!

Dan McGoldrick

The caverns were really cool. Kitschy, but definitely worth seeing. I could have done without the video at the end of the tour. It does feel quite commercialized, but I knew that going into it. There area has a ton to do also. Camping, zip lining, boat tour, etc... I would definitely recommend stopping through if you are passing by. The tour is a walking tour that lasts a little over an hour and is not a difficult walk. It is along concrete paths that have been paved through the caverns so you can do it in flip flops if you want. I went in a T-shirt and shorts and was fine, but my kids wanted hoodies.

Geoffrey couch

This is an absolutely must see place in the state of Missouri.Take a guided tour through miles of underground caves see beautiful rock formations The Heid out of the outlaw Jesse James tour guide to give you great insight to the history of the Cave since it’s discovery tours are reasonably priced gift shops are reasonably priced have an on-site Motel so if you’re just passing through and being nice place to stay and take a tour in the morning they also offer canoe rentals river towards caveman Zipline adventure is a must do as well also a great picnic area with an awesome view of the Merrimack River lots to do close by don’t forget to hit the Jesse James wax museum on your way out.

Sheri Castro

Very nice clean, cool and educational place to visit. Hasn’t changed much over the years which is why I visit. Kinda pricey but there is a on line $3 off coupon to use. Adults $22 and kids $10. Nice gift shop and cafeteria to eat at inside. Hour tours. Fun to look around the gift shop and entrance area to the cave.

Derrick Grimes

Caves and scenery were great. Guide was great when we could hear him. Only problem we had was our group was around 100 people and would not be quiet or keep up. So we didn't get to hear half of what the guide said and had to stand and wait on all the people to catch up and be loud and disrespectful. We will try and come back hopefully when there's not so many in a group.

dani woods

Great tour guides and very interesting tour. Gets crowded quickly so go early. Slippery and steep conditions in cave so wear tennis shoes. At one point you do have to climb 50+ stairs as well.

Domi Meow

Worth the drive we made from where we were staying in St. Louis. The caverns were super cool and the tour guide was funny and well educated about the caves

Kellie Reese

What a beautiful one of God's creations! We enjoyed it very much. Warning: The 58 steps to get to the cave theater are no joke, but it was worth the rubbery legs to see the view and presentation.

Della Shenoskey

A hidden treasure, in Missouri. Worth a trip. I loved the history and the light show at the end. Definitely a must see if you travel this way. There are stairs so it is not wheelchair friendly.

Mehdi Zaidi

Nice place to visit. Great light show and your of caves. Nice souvenirs.

Ian Branson

Got the last tour of the day; guide was ready to call it a day and it showed. He was nonetheless quite informative and knew his geology. Very pretty, spooky, ancient, and mysterious all the same.

Dieselpotamus

A nice long tour, light shows, history lessons, geology. Very cool but also ACTUALLY cool, as on cold. Bring a sweater down there. You'll be there over an hour.

Rachael Coffer

This place is amazing! I give 5 star and more. Nice family place. We want to go back.

NotMyOfficialID

Very nice picturesque place. Unbelievable natures formation. Definitely a place to go if you haven't seen Caverns and if it is a rainy day to stay indoors. i would give 5 * but due to high price of 22$ for entry into this natures wonder it is 4*.

April Fritz

Great experience. Caves have had a lot of foot traffic. But well worth it for the beauty and experience.

Richie Wienhoff

I really like the restaurant here and the staff is always very friendly. it's well kept and clean and the cave tour is really cool too. I worked here and was always treated really well and the owners are good people who do a lot for our community.

Dulce Ortiz

Super cool place for people of all ages. The tour guides really knew what they were doing. They kept everyone together while teaching and answering questions. Bring a light jacket because it's a little chilly. Definitely recommend!

Dawn McNamee

Really fun tour on a hot day! There's a lot of walking and it can be a bit slippery, so wear good shoes. Cool experience. Our kids really loved it

The Shadow Prince

It was very empty and the employees just seemed bored and didn't wish to interact. The cave is beautiful but the price to see it was a bit on the experience side. It looked as if everything was closed despite being open. Years ago it was all I wanted to do, but years have worn the place down for the worst.

D. TVR

Love the place lots to do will definitely make a stop here again maybe even camp

Swati Nemade

Totally impressive! Meramec are wonderful caverns and well maintained. The tour was little over one hour but still felt rushed since there are so many wonders inside the cave. The caverns are big and have a store and restuarant and restrooms just outside the caverns. Also its 2 to 4 degrees colder inside the caverns than their ticket office. The whole experience was super awesome and couldn't capture everything. It's an experience you treasure with eyes in your memory.

Tyler Wishyouknew

Love the campground, clean motel, cave tours are the best. Plenty for families with kids and the boat tour is worth the money although it is a short ride. Never tried the zip lines but plan to do that and a canoe float soon

Patty Vazquez

I booked a trip to St. Louis with my 2 friends and we were debating if we should rent a car and make the drive to the Meramec Caverns. We did, & I am so glad we did so. This was a very neat experience.

Steven Josephsohn

The tour guide was very difficult to understand. He did not speak clearly enough and spoke too rapidly. He was a white haired gentleman..I think his name was Steven.

Roy Johnson

Meramac caverns was absolutely amazing!! The cavern was bigger than I expected, had running water through it and the tour guide was great. There is a restaurant with ice cream shop and a cool little gift shop. You can pan for gold, buy …

Michael Tornetto

Fun, especially with kids...even on a rainy day. Took me back in time, got the whole route 66 vibe. Cave is easy to walk and very pretty. Pricey though on the tickets. Bring a light coat for sure!

Anna Ever Evolving

This was a wonderful place to take the family, including our two teens. I have been here many times over the years but recently decided to take a birthday trip here to see it again with my family and they were so happy they came. It's absolutely beautiful, fun, and a true glory of nature to behold. Such rich history and beautiful sights made it easy for my kids to get engrossed in their surroundings. The cafe and gift shop were great and we will certainly be returning. It also has several Pokestops and a gym if anyone is interested in that sort of thing.

Dheepak Guruswamy

Always love this place. Cool 50 deg inside caves all time of the year. Nice place to visit with family. Lovely guides and very good tours. Totally worth the money and time spent.

Amy Ramey

So amazing. Just beautiful in the cave. Camp grounds are nice. You can float the river there. Zipline , and visit the cave.

Ryan Miller

Great time. Dont waste money in the gift shop unless you are buying clothes. Mining was the best way to get the other souvenirs.

Lily

This place is AWESOME!!! Our tour guy was very entertaining and seemed like he was glad to be working there. This cave is truly one of a kind, and i recommend it to people of all ages. It’s fun for the kids, and also fun for the adults. It gets pretty cold in there, so definitely bring a jacket. Also, the fudge they sell outside of the cave is amazing. It has a very rich flavor. Plus, the gift shop had reasonable prices, and pretty gemstones. I am planning on coming back again real soon!!!

Kate McGee

The caves are cool but the experience was ruined by two things: other people being jaggoffs during the tour (which I realize they can’t control), and the end of the tour “light show” in the “theater room.” They ruin the beauty of the cave by forcing you to sit through a cringey PowerPoint presentation projected on the cave walls, complete with Bible verses, stock footage of “American” images like men in uniform and “fields of grain” while they play America the Beautiful through loudspeakers and tout it as a salute to the troops. As a former military wife sitting there on a bench with my disabled veteran brother, I can only say that it was forced and very awkward.

Ray Frazee

What a wonderful amazing time... The cavern to wonderful and educational. The canoe trip down the river even more beautiful

Erin Stauffer

Took the family for a cave tour. Expensive compared to other caves we have visited and you don't get to see much of the cave. The light show was cool though!

Jennifer Britt

Awesome place to go visit and it's always 60 degrees all year round

Miranda J. Bailey-Quick

Awesome! Kids enjoyed it along with adults. Very comfortable 60 degrees in cave while being 91 degrees outside!

Christopher Durkin

Great tour in a beautiful spot. Get there early or you'll have a gigantic tour group. Recommend bringing a jacket as well, 60 degrees feels nice at first, especially in the middle of the summer, but it gets chilly pretty quick.

Arlene Symonds

We stopped here on our Way to Grand Canyon and again on our way home. Great camping/lodging..beautiful views in the cave..wonderful people...very relaxing..

Rajesh Vachhani

Unique heritage one of its kind in World. Worth visiting n knowing what it is.

Stephanie Small, Ed.D.

Who doesnt love sightseeing? Meramec Caverns is such a magical place to visit. The tour provides interesting tidbits of history that one may never know. Definitely worth a stop if you are passing through Missouri!

Craig Clark

Had a great time. Nice campground, hotel and food was good at the restaurant. The tour was great and the guide was knowledgeable. The zip line was the best. My wife, both sons and I all had a lot of fun. The zip line staff are great

Betty Kasten

Have been before but seem like so much history I didn't remember. Took 7 children from high school to preschool all enjoyed.

Lindsay Allen

Awesome place. Great fudge. Friendly service!

Shawn Jacob

Really cool experience. Guides were good. Tour was interesting and the cave was awesome.

J DUB

It's a cave. Dark in spots. Cool damp air. Little bit of water flowing. Stupid lights we are supposed to be in awe of. You know, pretty much like any other cave you have ever been to.

B Lewis

Very cool cave! Nice pathways make walking the tour very easy. Our guide, Collin, did an outstanding job. Highly recommend taking the tour and it's a great way to escape the heat in summer.

Marcia Robson

Hadn’t been since I was a kid and loved sharing this once in a lifetime experience with my daughters! The caverns are still beautiful and a little scary-in a good way! We loved it. I would highly recommend seeing this amazing natural wonder.

Valarie Moore

It was fantastic!!! So much to see and do. The caveman Zipline was incredible. Staff fun helpful and friendly. Reasonable prices

Fatima Ahmed

Great place for family to picnic and explore. The activities are pricey so go prepared. We did zip lining and the cave tour which were both very enjoyable. Swimming isn't technically allowed in certain locations due to whirlpools, but so many people were swimming regardless. Overall great place to spend the day with family and friends.
