REVIEWS OF Ha Ha Tonka State Park IN Missouri

Kevin Edgar

I'd like to know, how did a billionaire heirs, not rebuild this massive structure? It would have been beautiful. Enjoyed it. Have been here many times, with my thoughts of dancing in the ballroom.. Its probably one of the most glamorous …

Cindy Holcomb

Beautiful, quiet, tucked away! Some trails are paved others are gravel. There are signs telling you how far the trail is so you know what your getting into. You can take a short hike to some great scenery or keep going and get a good hike out of it seeing even more hidden scapes. Right near the Lake of the Ozarks so lots to do in that area.

Andrew Syfert

Beautiful State park only good for hiking and fishing. No camping however

Loleita Wood

Beautiful cold springs. Great swim hole

Lee Skywalker

Best State Park in Missouri to explore. Fun to hike bavk to the remnants of the old Ha -Ha. Tonka Mansion ruins & Old Water Tower ruins. Nice fishing & boat rentals .

Brent Cook

Beautiful state park with awesome trails around the Sprng and Natural Bridge.

Christopher Park

Amazing scenery easily navigated by anyone including wheelchair access to some of the finer spots

EMILY MILAM

Awesome Park, fun trails, Beautiful Castle Ruins. VT were gross and out of toilet paper is our only complaint, good thing we brought our own

Machelle Combs

A must see. Go prepared for a walk. Loved all the history it told about. I will go there again next time I'm in Missouri.

Leslie Gable

Walked a new trail. Lots of fun

Cheryl Noack

Beautiful place to walk & explore .Love the castle & carriage house

Stephanie Ross

Beautiful park with great views of the lake. Great place to hike, just make sure you can handle steep climbs. Awesome spring they have. Well worth the time.

Nick Gunther

Has a few different trails you can choose from one leading down to a breathtaking blueish green river, and the other to some historic ruins and watchtower that is still standing! All of the trails are very easy going & offers beautiful views of nature and history!

Ben Moore

A really nice State Park. Lots of cool things to see.

Jessica Leuchtmann

I always love my visits to Ha Ha Tonka. They have updated their maps to accurately describe the trails, and the trails are beautiful and pretty clearly marked. There are a few trails that have some unexpectedly dicey areas, but the state has made improvements over the years to some of these spots (or there are ways around). Remember, take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints.

frank orris

Nice parks lots of walking the ruins were cool

Becca Brien

Really fantastic hidden treasure of Missouri. Trails are not lying when they say they're difficult to navigate. I'm 5 foot tall and had a hard time hoisting myself over small crevices passing as "paths" in a couple of rock formations. I'm sure they are adequate paths when you're a person blessed with normal height. Really fun, will definitely be bringing my kids for some of the less difficult trails.

Jeanette Onak

I love going to Ha Ha Tonka, but not as much my wild and crazy dog, Goldie does. Fortunately, we live close by to this magnificent, Missouri State Park. Trails for everyone. Each season has its own beauty. We go 3 times a week, and I always see something new, maybe a plant, bird, fish, etc. Hat's off to the park employees!!!!!!

Tara Lyn McCall

Outstanding location for family hikes. Even though it was cold & windy, my kids had a blast! We will for sure to back when we have more time!

Michael Williams

Absolutely beautiful place .. great for senior or wedding photos .

John Williams

Amazing everywhere everytime everything for everyone. If u love nature vs man = their flawless baby ...love it ...

N K

My most favorite Missouri State Parks! Allot if trails. And steps! Can also do some fishing.

Craig Farr

If you want to actually explore the castle, don't waste your time. Fenced off not allowed close to it. Still kinda cool, but I was very disappointed

Jackie Eubank

Castle ruins, a natural bridge, and beautiful water scenes are all accessable with little hiking prowess. This park is perfect for a day of exploring as a family! There is even a playground and a nice spot to have a picnic. Don't skip this if you are in the area.

Emmy W

Beautiful views, wonderful hiking trails and old Castle ruins were just some of the awesome things you can find here. We saw otters in their natural habitat eating fish on the Spring trail. Brought the small dog, who did alright on the paths.

Tyler Johnson

A lot of trails to choose from depending on the challenge you want. Very scenic and well maintained.

Constance Nichols

Great place to get together and have family time and enjoy some much needed nature.

Joshua Dickinson

Very nice out door park. They have very nicw walking paths and welcoming to leashed pets. Scenary is fantastic.

ashley taylor

Nice trails, the Turkey Pen Hollow trail is pretty narrow for the majority of the trail. There's a few places that could have been marked better. But overall, beautiful and fun!

Beth Beseau

It is centrally located. No frills but overall good hotel.

Ann Bolton

I Love this park, Beautiful Scenery, challenging Hiking trails, fun to explore the Castle ruins, Springs and always hike the Island, waterfall and balance rock! Highly recommend! Thank you!

Chelynne Becker

lots of trees and a beautiful view of Lake of the Ozarks from the top of the bluff. Short walk up to the castle ruins and a long hike of stairs down to the spring at the bottom. gorgeous trek through nature.

Merle Eberly

Great park with some incredible views. Lots of options for hiking here.

Austin Dickerson

Love it! Absolutely beautiful and the trails around it are great as well. They have fences around the castle ruins so you're not allowed to go inside but still a breathtaking sight.

Larry Lewis

Great trails for hiking. Great views. Make sure you go down by the spring.

Amos MA

Very nice State Park with clear water. We saw a lot of animals like bevers, turtles, snakes and squirrels. It's not allowed to swim there to protect the park and avoid water pollution.

Devlin McCoy

this park is great the problem i have is this park has not as much views of the lake but overall it is great your on hills to see the lake insted of along the sides of the lake if the gps says go down highway 5 and cut through the dirt road do not do that sleeper is 20 minnits faster than going through richland exit 150 not sleeper exit 135 take highway 5 to highway 54 to the park not highway e to missouri d to the park longer and more hillear

Eyeball The Perception Shifter

Great place to explore! However, the parking situation gets a little crazy. But other than that, we had a blast there.

Christopher Post

The areas accessible to the public are much more restricted than when I was a boy. I was disappointed my boys didn't get to have the experience I did when I was their age.

Misty Mitchell

Beautiful my parents were married here. We took our family pictures there and they turned out amazing!!!

Darla Farr

Always fun to hike. I love seeing all the wildlife and meeting new people on the trails. Great place to bring the family. Nice place for a picnic.

Danika Shannon

Beautiful place to hang out or let kids play! Also, fishing is good too!

Roy Hill

Lots of hiking trails. Good swimming, boating and recreational places to picnic. Great sightseeing, awesome in the fall before the leaves fall off.

Christine Noyer

Has always been a good place to visit. Was perfect weather for a hike!

Logan Howard

This is one of our favorite parks! Beautiful scenery and fun trails with a lot of changes in elevation and interesting features.

Chris Croy

The castle ruins and the spring are so cool to look at & imagine what it took to build back in that era

Nate Olszak

This park is a great park. When I was younger they didn't have the wooden walk wat like they have now. And we were able to climb around the house, but it's still a great historical sight to visit.

Tabitha Patterson

Beautiful place to take pictures at and get out into nature

Anne Simmons

Beautiful spot. Sad to see what remains of the structure not being stabilized for future generations.

CLEEVERIMAGES LLC

Well it's a great place to visit and get some really good photographs. The only thing I would say I disliked about itwas that I had to turn around as soon as I got there and take mrs. Kat to a gas station to use the restroom, because the bathrooms at the park were ridiculously unclean. other than that you know nice place they've got a lot of places sealed off and you can't visit them now and I don't like or agree with it but good place. Nice hiking trail going right down into the Old quarry.

Ant Oine

Lots of trail, beautiful sightseeing and really little people around, a breath of fresh air.

Troy Tyler

Very cool! Saw the natural bridge, the castle ruins and the spring below the castle. Beautiful area. Down at the spring we saw a water snake, a muskrat and turtles.

Cheryl Palumbo

Beautiful trails, park ect... The history of the castle and lookout tower were fascinating and worth stopping and checking out. We had a wonderful picnic in one of their picnic areas. Dog friendly which was important for us as we had our dog with us. The views on the trail were different so you could easily spend a good couple of days checking each of the trail. Plus then there is access to the Lake of the Ozarks!!

Jere Wilmering, Jr.

Incredibly scenery. A real gem. Nice hiking trails around the grounds and down at the lake level. Fun family activity.

Cybernet3

I really like the nature and the natural bridge really the most beautiful stuff I've seen in a long time

Shane Procter

Fun place to hike around. 300 + steps its a real cardio workout.

Chris Ski

What a great place to visit and relax. Bring a picnic basket.

Gabi Stiltner

They need to better mark the trails with colored dots on both sides of the tree's.other than this we enjoyed visiting the ruins

Jake Dowell

Beautiful state park located a few miles from Camdenton, MO. Amazing hiking trails and plenty of photo opportunities. A lot of care goes into maintaining the area and it shows. The castle ruins are very neat!

Jeremy James

Always a great visit. 17 miles of trails to hike and awesome views. The castle ruins are not to be missed but please respect them as barriers are having to be put up further and further away due to people disrespecting the site and growing instability. Go see them before they crumble.

Lindy Nutter

Second visit in a month time! Brought kids both times, ages 8,7,& 3. We all enjoyed the castle and loved the natural bridge as well. Still gotta make it back to the spring!

S S

It was a nice weekend outing from my place. Hiking to castle was good. The sun peeping through this broken castle was a view worthwhile. We got to see the water tower, cave too. There was a nice blue water pond I did like too. One thing is I really didn’t like is the washroom. I tried to go but before approaching bad odor passes and I quit trying to get in. It made the whole trip’s in a bad mood. Liked to swing as it was free all the time because of no crowds.

Doris Franklin

How someone used natural resources in a beautiful useful way.

Sue Good

Nice shaded walking trails, beautiful park with public access to lake.

Jason Pawlak

Beautiful! Lots of people and lots of dogs on a Sunday morning. Trails are really awesome. Parking was tight on this very crowded morning. Plenty of places to eat a packed lunch. Dogs were exhausted after. Check for ticks!

Katelyn Wamsley

Such a great place. Roads are easy to drive on and paved the whole way. There are two jokes you can do a longer one from the lower parking lot and a 500ft one from the upper lot. Wheelchair accessible and benches all the way along the path path is relitively steep but again places to stop! Great for families!!!

Carolyn Meritt

Free and good place to check out if you only have a few hours.

Jocelyn Jacobs

The trails are nice and the "castle" is amazing. I wish we could have explored more. I would have liked to get closer to the lake

KAREN AHRENS

Beautiful day to swim at Ha Ha Tonka park today water temperature was great quiet and peaceful

Kelly Carlyon

Absolutely breathtaking and will be returning again! Beautiful castle ruins, hiking trails and for those gamers out there... Pokémon stops and gyms. A must see!

Cesar Luis Valdez

The hiking trails were easy to moderate. The castle ruins were a nice place to take pictures of and admission is free.

Chizoba Uba

Good hiking experience. Peaceful environment.

Mary Durr

Very beautiful and right in the middle of nature! First time here and I loved it

S J

What a nice place for a day hike! The views from the site are spectacular. You’re on a high bluff and you can see for miles. The ruins of the house itself are pretty impressive even in its current state. What a grand house it would have been. I would recommend this place for novice to intermediate level hikers, it’s not too strenuous for most. I will definitely come back.

bernie schonder

Beautiful place ,bring water for the hike down all the stairs

Arnold Sauther

This is the first time my boy scout troop had camped there. There are great paved trails and areas to fish. The Special Use Area had plenty of shade. Bring extra stakes for your tents due to rocks. Bring water containers to fill at the maintenance barn. No water on site.

Michael Fox

The trails were amazing and the views were outstanding. We thoroughly enjoyed the ruins and the lake area

Chris Ratliff

Very cool history and stunning scenery. Take the time to hike some of the trails and spend a few hours here.

Ed Buckner

Great place for a stroll. Beautiful scenery. Interesting history. Free!

Crystal Sweger

There are a variety of trails to suit different hiking abilities and interests. Paved trails for joggers and rugged trails for avid hikers. Lots of interesting natural and man-made landmarks and plenty of critters to spot along the way!

Karen Frye

Had a great time, hiking was beautiful. Would not recommend wasting time going up to the castle though. You can’t go or see into it. Just what’s left of the standing walls. Time better much spent going down other trials

T D

There is not much to see in the hike and at the castle. But to party with boats it is wonderful .

Renee Zimmer

Excellent experience! Park well maintained, and the folks at the visitors center were friendly. If you call ahead, it's possible to get a free permit to enter Island Cave- which is super cool, but too challenging for our 7 and 10 yr olds. Natural spring and bridge are short hikes and castle ruins/lookout is easily accessible. The views from up by the castle are breathtaking! I like that there are water fountains and park benches convienantly placed if you need a break. You can obtain a permit to camp along one of the longer trails or there's camping at the Lake of the Ozarks state park. There can also check out the old swinging Bridges.

omiya hassan

A fulling hike of around 1.5 miles. You can also do a 316 steps staircase if you feel like your body is able to. Hiking for around 2hrs and then seeing the beautiful Ha Ha Tonka springs was worth it. If you're a lover of hikes that goes through forests then it's for you!

S D Clement

Always love it. Great hikes and beautiful scenery. Incomparable!

L'erin Vincent

Great for family hiking, picnic, fishing. We love going, went today to hike, then while husband and son fished, baby girl and i decided to rage a nice lounge with some snacks on a picnic mat in the shade by the lakeside. So relaxing and beautiful.

Julie McQueen

This park is lovely . An Adventurer around every corner

Randy Lewis

I run the stairs which is a nice workout. Park is awesome. Best in Missouri.

Brendon Bay

Great place to go. Clean and wide open parking. Well mapped. I hiked Turkey pen hollow trail. Very well marked and great scenic views. I will definantly be back to hike the other trails!

Phylicia Sodemann

Beautiful place to be outdoors!! There are numerous trails ranging in distance. Multiple shelters too for picnic and hanging out. Love love love coming here.

Anne Erdelen

Lots of trails and sights to see for the whole family! Swim or fish in the lake at the springs or lose yourself for hours along the easy to follow marked trails throughout! Well maintained and lots of history in the area including ruins of a castle! I haven't had a bad day there yet, so get going!

Monika Kellner

Great place to tAke family for enjoyment of wild life and bisyorybof this castle! Use caution for people with health issues on the trails!

Enrique Hilst

My group took a hike from the castle area down past the water spring and to the lake where the spring dumps into the lake and the water is open to get into. It was cool to see the spring and get in the cold water after a hot hike.

Tony Ferrero

We've seen a lot of parks and this is on the top of the list. The spring is beautiful and informative with numerous stop points to learn about the local wildlife. Over the past year we've gone multiple times and we've seen wildlife every time. We've gone multiple times and have covered numerous trails. And they're still unexplored territory to cover.

Scott Major

A lot of really cool features both natural and man made. The natural bridge, trails, and "old castle" are all worth the trips. There were a good amount of people having gone on a Saturday but the actual trails didn't have too many people on them.

Cathie Cottrell

Good paved walking paths to the mansion. Handicap parking close by. There are many trails to walk around this park. Some paths are marked that may be too strenuous. The path along the waterways located below the mansion is flat & very walkable for most. Many benches are along path to the mansion. Maps are available along the path toward the mansion that show a lot of the park trails. Many trails can be found where parking areas are located. Come spend the day! Very beautiful scenic views! Picnic area below the mansion by the waterways.

Vidya N

This place is awesome. I didn't go with a lot of expectations and this place amazed me. There are lovely views, the castle is good, the viewing decks offer beautiful views of lake below, and the greenery adds to the charm. Most beautiful was the little hike down to the lake,, it was very green, misty and beautiful..

Brandie Shawler

Love this place, hiking trails, breath taking scenery

Kelly Williams

Me and my kids had a wonderful time it was one of the most beautiful things we've ever seen everywhere you look

Sara

Very awesome place to visit! I visited from out of town (Louisville,Ky) and hiked up the small path to see the ruins of the castle. Something you definitely need to see at least once. Breath taking views of the lake and wildlife. Absolutely wonderful!

matt velten

Excellent trail variety. Lots of connectors to lengthen or shorten routes. Wonderful scenery. A very well maintained park.

Jennifer Wilcox

Beautiful park, the castle ruins trail is very family friendly. The natural bridge trail is very rugged and challenging but has great scenery. We did get lost on the island trail, that was frustrating and not family friendly.

Gery Oswald

One of the best State Parks for hiking. Great scenery and rock formations. The castle (house) ruins are interesting.

E B

Six visits always something impressive to see. Love it!! Does have a beach.

Jessica Eimers

We thoroughly enjoyed this park! We need to come back to finish and see it all. It is large with varied types of hikes. I bet we walked 5 miles with our kids and dog!

Amanda Smith

What an amazingly organized state park! It is well kept/ maintained, and a great place to explore some amazing trails for all skill levels and abilities.

Lisa Eck

Had a great day hiking. The trails are great and easy. The info signs informative. The views and beauty of area wonderful! Saw lots of wildlife. Will be back!

Julianna Laver

We took the quarry trail. The trail was easy to follow, and had great scenery. Very enjoyable if you want to go on a semi long, easy hike. The trail ends at the castle which has sadly been blocked off(fenced), do to unstableness.

John Kerstetter

The Post Office Pavilion is a great place for a group picnic. It is a private but open and spacious location. There are plenty of picnic tables and nice grills for bar-b-q. For the kids there is a nice small playground. There is also plenty of open space for other games and activities.

Carol Longwell-Miller

pretty cool....a lot of history here!

Susan Johnson

Had a great time. Made the trip down from Overland Park just for a nice day trip. The dogs had a great time too.

Erika Kirchhoff

One of our favorite places to got at the lake. Beautiful area with a lot of different hiking trails.

Soroush r

We went there in mid January. Super cold. But gorgeous. Kinda scary when literally nobody was there. But still gorgeous. Way above the Midwest standard scenery. Caves are awesome.

Zodrick

Beautiful place to wonder. History buffs delight. Don't go in the Summer unless your O.K. with humidity and heat.

Christine Boston

Great hiking park. Some beginner and advanced trails. Be aware of the stairs, not for the faint of heart. Castle is beautiful, as is the natural bridge.

Chyenne Alvarado

I accidentally found this place on a road trip a few years ago. The view is pretty stunning. The castle is falling apart a little, but everything else was still really beautiful. I loved hiking the trails.

Christian Richards

Looking for ruins that resemble the awe inspiring European castles? Look no further than Ha Ha Tonka state park. This park features many trails that lead to giant sink holes and land bridges that are amazing to take pictures in. I highly recommend a day spent here.

Daniel

Trails and hikes are unbelievable!! What a place to visit! Make sure to get water though, none of the fountains were working. It's a great way to spend the day! Bring your family and friends and go hike!

Eli Burdette

HaHa Tonka will always hold a special place in my heart. It is one of my favorite locations at the Lake of the Ozarks, and I highly recommend spending a day exploring every piece of it. From castle ruins, to land bridges, to the spring, there is a little something for every nature lover!

heather gooch

Such an awesome place! Need several hours to be able to take it all in!

Andrea Martin

Great time, love the easy paved walk to the ruins and the more adventurous trails are easily marked throughout the entire trail. I was able to complete two of the trails with my son and will be returning.

Lenny Leger

Really neat history regarding this "castle". Cool place to explore

Jeremy Henson

Beautiful but because people litter and climb the historic buildings they have them fenced off still beautiful to c up close and take a trail just wish you could get around the building more to c the view of the lake from the castles perspective but they have the whole area surrounding it gated so you can only get to 3 sides really and still can't get close enough to look inside was a downer for me but still beautiful views of the lake tho

Cherrypelt

I bet the community would be willing to help fund restoring the structure to where we could go near it. I miss the view from one of the over hangs that got fenced off. The nature is wonderful though.

don ohearn

Great place to hike with views. Structures are now barricaded off compared to the last visit.

Whitney Carney

I love living near here. It's so beautiful all year round.

Abigail McAuley

Loved it! Great trails, and a lot to explore!
