REVIEWS OF Vicksburg National Military Park IN Mississippi

Misty Manages Life

Great historical park. Had not been in many years and my kids had never been. Impressed to see that they've maintained and even improved many of the park monuments and featured areas.

Bryan Caswell

Great visitor center and self-guided driving tour. Takes about 3 hours in total, but it's very intuitive. The USS Cairo, only remaining river ironclad, is amazing and not to be missed!

Steven Wolf

Very well cared for National Battlefield. I had to wait 25 years to get there. Not at all disappointed. Check out the US Cairo Museum!!

Jean Ray

I luv our history. I don't know why people have to tear down statues. Maybe they are afraid they will attack them. It is a beautiful park. I often ask myself where would we be if there was no civil war. God bless America. I

Carmen Bankston

Great place to teach history to your kids and grandkids

Lasondra Fields

20.00 per car to do a car tour around the park. The pass is valid for 7 days. It is worth the money. There are plenty of places to park to get out and take pictures and look around. I recommend getting a map from the visitor's center before you start and definitely check out the Cairo museum.

Christian Delafield

Great time. By chance showed up on a day with cannon and musket demonstrations!

Melissa Pitre

I'm such a Civil War geek. I loved visiting the location and going on the tour, but my all-time favorite was seeing the old ironsides ship and museum. Well worth a day trip

Mary Wells

It’s our civic duty to grasp our history as much as possible. It’s a beautiful place & hurt my heart to know what happened there. So much death. It’s eye opening & I enjoyed learning more.

Ron Swain

Fun for the kids. Drive thru tour of military park. Lots of monuments and cannons. Our kids loved it.

Michael Hendricks

Historical significance aside, the park is beautifully maintained and easy to navigate by car or walking.

Linda Mixon

There was alot more to this than I anticipated. It is 16 miles of up & down terrain. For the narrated tour I mailed the phone number given & you are prompted for each section. You can replay each as needed because some times you are further away from next station & you have to drive very slow. Nice gift shop. Can use you America the Beautiful Pass if you have one. Great experience.

D Kingore

Awesome, but somber! The drive is well worth it!

Stuart Roper

Parks very historic if you are into our histort its worth the trip. However the lady at the booth taking the money just walked off???? Must be hard to work two hours and walk off with a whole three cars in line. Unbelievable.

paul howard

Would recommend that people come see and read the history of this place

William B

Fantastic movie but no mention Port Hudson in the film. Clean bathroom. Electrical Map. Nice gift shop. Frirendly rangers. Well kept park with one way driving tour.

Larry Deere

Good place to visit. Very informative with it's place to stop and read the notices post through out the area. Good place to take the younger generation.

Robert Gallucci

Guided tour by Mike D a must! Mike brought the battle of Vicksburg to life telling great stories that you would never know such as an IL soldier who was actually a woman but Boone ever found out! Thanks Mike

JT Terry

The staff is well informed and eager to answer questions regarding the park.

Dasha Peipon

This is a historic treasure. A must see. If you're going with kids, they will love it too. There is plenty to see and lots of areas to move around. Make sure to grab a visitors guide for kids from the visitors center. It's highly interactive and helps kids stay engaged and want to explore further.

Trey Murray

Amazing place, wish I'd had more time to see it all. Plan for a full day around a 16 mile drive through the battlesite.

Matthew Speth

This park is my favorite battlefield I've visited. The USS Cairo restoration is a real gem for any American history enthusiast.

Jessie Parker Jr

I enjoy going there and ridding around the Park on my motorcycle.

Lee Karlin

Very interesting, well worth the trip

scott moeller

It's crazy to see how the battles progressed around vicksburg. I recommend getting a certified guide, the have so much more Information to provide.

Tracy Dickens

It's a very nice park and it's really well kept. It's a great historic trip. Vehicle traffic in the park closes at 5pm but people can still walk the park and there were lots of people walking for exercise. It's a very large park so seeing everything will take some time so get there early if that's your plan.

Mike Shelton

I was impressed by the scale of the battlefield. I learned so much about the key to victory for both sides. Our 24 foot RV went down the tour road no problems. Oversized vehicle parking at visitor's Center.

Cy Bickers

Great place that covers both North and South. Hope we can all learn.

Willem Koeslag

Oh man, this is a must visit, particularly if you are a Civil War buff. A difficult period in our history, one we hope will never be repeated.

Julie L

There is so much to see. We've been touring here for over 20 years and now our grandchildren are 4 and 5 and got to start visiting here also. We always discover new things each visit. There is so much history here

Arkadet Luangkumpusin

It's a historical battle field during Civil War in 1863. The site are memorial and statues who fought that time. States that concerned the war built the monuments. It's drive thru site. If you have a member of National Park and military or senior, you will get discount.

Kel Castle

A very moving emotic transcending place , makes you feel a million emotions, ( well I did anyway ) big excpance of memorial parkland, a must see is the shop souvenirs great recommend the whole experience.

Melissa Gardner Barker

It is worth a lifetime of learning as you go thru this incredibly historic and biblical place in our country The United States. I highly and more recommend others to read more about the car, sometimes called between the states, find out the few states, you'll be surprised how many men not only volunteered, but risked more than their lives, to go to war. It is worth staying more than a few days. You can purchase a yearly pass. I do not know if a National Military Pass is also valid in other parts of historical and biblical United States such as Gettysburg or Antietam. I hope others realize how there is much more about this war than what we were taught. This includes others in any part of the Americas. Please pray for our country. Too many risked everything. We are a free country, not a country of slave holders.

Rotor Gator

Awesome place to tour. Self guided tour is fine. There is also an app to use on your phone.

Jane Vie

Lots of memorials. Very interesting drive. We didn't do Amy of the trails

Jim Bougie

Seeing the battlefield and what the soldiers went through was amazing. Also the cemetery, with shortened head stones for the unknown soldiers gave an instant visual of how many died with no knowledge of who they were.

Eric Herhager

Amazing park, trenches from war are still visible. Learn about the past so the same mistakes are not made....

Debbie Roe

Very pretty. Spent over 2 hours there and still didnt see everything

Jeff Schafer

This place is great because it remembers the a pivotal battle in the Civil War. General Ulysses Grant commanded the Union soldiers. The USS Cairo is also here. It is the only one of 7 iron clad remaining. It was worth the price of admission in itself. ($20 per car)

Aislinn McEwen

We got there too late. The gate says last entry is 440, but they won't let you in at 430 either. I think you have to get there by 3 if you want to drive the park before they close. Every car has to be out by 5. We were pretty disappointed.

Daisy Homolka

The Vicksburg National Military Park what is there to say? A lot actually. The worst state monument was Tennessee. Illinois wins hands down. There are a lot of hills, sadly no trenchs, and it's no wonder they couldn't take Vicksburg - those hills are steep and it's hot af in Mississippi. Worth the admission price? I mean you got yourself to Vicksburg - what else are you doing here?

Dan Chandler

What a great Park. Beautiful statues and buildings . A great place to learn the history of our Civil War.

Carl Statham

Very informative....park is well maintained, plenty of signage with a wealth of information about the battle all throughout the park...the short movie in visitor's center was well worth the time to watch...great experience...will definitely revisit...

John Minard

Sobering experience. I did not realize the battlefield terrain was that rugged and hilly.

Melanie Falkner

Enjoyed our drive through of history. The audio option for your drive through the park was informative and entertaining.

Leala Carper

So much to see! This is not just a quick drive through. If you want to really see everything you could take a day or two. It was quite the sight to see so many monuments documenting the battles. Best trip!

Trevor Bingham

I took an audio tour. It was a great way to go through the park. Great history.

Chris Klein

An incredible place to reflect on our nations history. Hard to image what happened here.

Misty Manages Life

Great historical park. Had not been in many years and my kids had never been. Impressed to see that they've maintained and even improved many of the park monuments and featured areas.

Marsha Lamberth

This place was amazing. It was our first experience with a Bed & Breakfast, and it couldn't have been any better. It was like you were staying in a museum. The place was like stepping back in time. Camille and Mary Jo were such gracious hostesses. We loved hearing all about the history of Belmont Plantation. I would highly recommend this place for a quiet get away.

Heather Jones

History....they take care if the place...great staff

Kelsey Volkert

Beautifully organized park with so much to see. We had a wonderful time. Our only complaint was that the audio tour feature didn’t work.

Connie Forsyth

What an awesome experience. A drive, bike, or walk through history. The wonder of what took place here and the beauty of the location. Highly recommend. The cost was $20 per vehicle and the roads are in good condition. We drove through with a mid-size RV.

Emma Luttrell

This one of the best nation parks I have ever been to. It was so extremely informative. The whole area had such a reverence and respect paid to both sides there was no way to gather the feeling you get there reading a history book. I was astounded by the visual of seeing how closely the soldiers were to opposing sides. You really could see how up close and personal this battle was. It far exceeded any expectations I had. Twenty bucks a car load to get in, I would have gladly paid more.

Doug

Morgan Gates, terrific guide. Make sure you get a park guide to take you through.

Rob Lloyd

I've been going to the park since the 70's. Then it was so well maintained it looked like a golf course. I understand it's a federal issue, but its not what it was. Washington doesn't care.

Charlie Gammon

It really makes the Battle of Vicksburg feel more personal, and not just something out of a textbook.

Dawna Erion

This a really beautiful park. It is set up so you can take all day or just an hour or two. It is mostly drive through, but if you get out and walk, you can discover much more. The views are fantastic, the history astounding. It is well worth the drive!

Bailey Miller

This place is fun to drive through especially when you're looking for things to do in the small town of Vicksburg. The staff were very friendly and we even caught a canyon loading reenactment. We received some interesting facts from staff and enjoyed the little side trip.

Teddy Smithson

GREAT PEOPLE, FRIENDLY HELPFUL SERVICE. AWESOME !!! Experience, Grandchildren would Love it. Not all but over half... HAVE a GREATLY BLESSED DAY.

Karen Roberts

Very interesting site. Supposed to be very accurate with the points of interest during the driving tour. We really enjoyed it. Learned a lot about the war. Property was very well kept up. Would recommend everyone to visit.

Patrick Jamieson

Very well presented and preserved national battlefield. The purchase of a vehicle pass to enter when I went was $20, and good for 7 days. I stopped here as a break when travelling out of state, and quickly learned that there is an incredible amount of history here and in the surrounding area. This is a destination that is not to be missed for any history buff. The folks in the visitor center are quite knowledgable, and can tell you a lot about the history of Vicksburg, and what places not to miss in the surrounding area. I am quite confident that you can invest several days at the battlefield and surrounding area.

Connie Ransom

Enjoyed riding thru the park

Keith Markham

Great park, well maintained.

Julie LaCaze

Beautiful and historic grounds. A must-see if you're traveling to Vicksburg.

The Master

Great history lesson must visit.

Victoria McRoberts

Easy to navigate and see history.

Lorantz Rogers

So much history here. I will have to go back one day. You can drive through the park to explore everything. Definitely give yourself some time to look around. You can spend hours here.

Bill Cowell

A well preserved site which allows you to tour the main defensive positions of both sides. Includes a museum with partial reconstruction of an Ironclad paddle steamer used and sunk at the time of the Seige of Vicksburg.

Tom Tognarelli

So much American History, the Confederates and the people of Vicksburg fought a long battle to save their beautiful city.

George Bogart

Very nice park with lots of history.

Cassandra Golden

Beautiful and very educational. Lovely grounds.

Judy Gremmel

None of the five people I told about the incorrect location on G Maps had any interest in trying to get that corrected. It can be dangerous trying to follow bad directions on bad, narrow streets so gather a pencil and paper and call before you go.

Nicholas Moeai

I love the layout they've got going on. It's really cool that they've put the placards in the various fighting positions so you can get a good feel of the battlefield. Great monuments and very well kept.

Nydia Campbell

Very interesting and lots of history! You must visit if you're around the area!!

bradly kersh

If you love history it's a good place to go

Donna Pitts

such a lovely place. we do a really good job with military parks.

Rick Ray

I have been here many times along with Gettysburg, Antietam, Manassas, Shiloh, Pea Ridge, Wilson's Creek, Champion Hill, New Market, Franklin, Pleasant Hill, Mansfield, Grand Gulf, Fort Morgan Chickamauga, Atlanta, Fort Randolph, Port Hudson, Holly Ridge the bravery and loss of life and determination displayed at these Battlefields can never be matched again in this country will never be.

Ray Wilkins

Nice Civil War Park with driving tour. Narrated and private tours available. If you like American history, day well spent. Also has Civil War era steam powered paddle wheeler recovered from the river.

Dawna Erion

This a really beautiful park. It is set up so you can take all day or just an hour or two. It is mostly drive through, but if you get out and walk, you can discover much more. The views are fantastic, the history astounding. It is well worth the drive!

Randy Casey

It's an awesome place to visit, you learn a lot of history here. The staff here are very knowledgeable and polite, a great atmosphere here.

Great view historical site with alot of information

Hoodoo Ulluv

Great history lesson. Monuments are beautiful.

edward schrey

Great place to bring the family lots of history and area has lots to do

Mike Vanderhoff

Beautiful park. Beautiful monuments. Right off the highway, this is definitely worth a stop.

Patrick Gerbig

If for no other reason, go to see the U.S.S. Cairo! This is definitely one of the Civil War battlefields worth spending a day at. Well kept and educational regarding a pivotal point in the history of the War.

Arletha Ross

An amazing experience each day! Absolutely beautiful walking through on a sunny fall day.

Jessie Hicks

This place is a treasure trove of historical infomation. The many monuments erected here are architectural wonders in themselves. The scenery is very beautiful.

Lauren Gentry

Too busy looking at the monuments to notice a "wear seatbelt" sign at entrance. Pulled over the first couple of minutes on the driving tour by a Park Ranger. Given a ticket for no seatbelt. My 8 year old went from being so excited about seeing a little part of history to being upset that it was his fault we were written a ticket. Not to mention, the driver was a military veteran. Don't see why a warning couldn't have been given. Will NEVER return!! And one suggestion for the park..... when you hand out the maps at the entrance, hand out a piece of paper that says WEAR SEATBELT!!!!!!

Stephanie Huchel

Beautiful! So many Illinois veterans fought here.

Marcy Warkentin

This was a great tour, lots of history very well explained by a local docent. Lots to learn about.

Lieutenant Dixon

Wonderful place to learn about our history!

steven welch

Great chance to learn the incredible history of the Civil War. We live on the shoulders of those who went before us. Socially, politically, and technologically American has advanced so far in such a short time.

Philip S

Information posted throughout the park was spectacular. Great care has been taken to post detailed plaques on positioning during the battle as well as details on the events. We visited during the government shutdown, so it was running on funds from the Friends of Vicksburg.

Karen Roberts

Very interesting site. Supposed to be very accurate with the points of interest during the driving tour. We really enjoyed it. Learned a lot about the war. Property was very well kept up. Would recommend everyone to visit.

Jamie johnson

My only issue with this spot is maintaining the grounds. The military park is ABSOLUTELY gorgeous when maintained and the last thing I want tourist to see is something historic, poorly maintained. I will say that I love the fact that not only do park rangers frequently drive through to check on us "runners", but our sherriff deputies scoure the prememsis as well. It definitely gives me comfort knowing that these wonderful people are looking out for us! Thank you!

M Robison

Get here early and drive the 16 mile park stopping at every sculpture, statues, beautiful building, and exhibit along the way. Walking amongst the resurrected Cairo was truly an amazing experience. For a place that was home to such a bloody battle to have such a pleasant feel is reflective of the great pride the people of Mississippi have put into this historic park. Thank you to everyone who shared information about the battle site and exhibits and to the National Park Service for giving Americans and visitors from around the world this beautiful landmark.

Roman Gardner

I haven't been through here in years and I'm so glad that today I decided to take a drive down memory lane. If you haven't been here before, it's worth the drive to Vicksburg. And if you have been here before, you always find something new you didn't know about. It's truly a beautiful national Park.

Sam Fisher

Great place with a well though our self drive tour. One thing that could be improved is having images at each stop showing a 'now vs then' depiction of the battle so you get a better understanding of the events.

Patrick

Really interesting to tour hallowed ground that is so quiet and peaceful today. It was certainly different in 1863. This is a must battlefield visit for civil war buffs and anyone who has an appreciation of history in general. The grounds are beautiful and provide for a good walk with many variations in elevation. Take some time and enjoy the scenery. Take plenty of photos and enjoy your time in Vicksburg.

Ash

Park your car somewhere along the road and get out and walk and sit in the grass. This southern countryside is beautiful and safe. Walk a little on some of the trails. Walk where the Confederate soldiers walked, in the same woods they lived and fought in. Please like :-)

Elizabeth Mauldin

The park itself was beautifully well kept, easy to drive through, all points of interest. The folks at the welcome center we're very gracious and informative even with the government shutdown. A Bucket list completed.....wish the weather had cooperated...rain and fog

James Clark

Lots of history and nice monuments.

Charlie HOLLENSED

As of all our national parks this is a National Treasure. Appreciated the history and the knowledge of the park rangers. It's too bad I don't subscribe more to the war being a war of Northern aggression based on states rights and having nothing to do with slavery but then That's the LIE the the nation has bought into

Angela Duck

Learned a lot here and also bought a good book!!

Chris Thompson

Lots of information. Good call in descriptions of most sites. Looking at the topography, it was a nightmare to attack.

Johnny Meyers

This place was beautiful its a beautiful park its extremely large great for the whole family I give more details on my YouTube channel Off The Beaten Trail

M Robison

Kenneth Koch

Not as good as Gettysburg. Had local guide from National Park, who seemed to be in a rush. Only got off tour bus once. Would like to have had more time.

CE Edge

Interesting and beautiful driving tour through the battlefield. The interpretive historical markers and the visitor center are very well done and provide a well-balanced perspective of the historical events.

Courtney VanSkiver

Very informational and very cool place to visit, be sure to get here with plenty of time to see the whole place, once 5pm hits and the park closes they kick you out.

Righteousness

Love it! Touched my heart when I visited.

Matt Easley

Beautiful military park with lots of history. There may be more monuments here than even at Gettysburg. (Perhaps it just feels like there are more since they are so close together.). Gates close at 4:40 so come early or you can walk on the roads until dark. Make sure to spend time at Thayer's Approach, Stockade Redan and the U.S.S. Cairo Museum.

Keith Kidd

Fascinating to see the conditions and terrain that Union and Confederate troops experienced at Vicksburg.

Barbara Torres

The drive tour using the recorded messages on the phone was excellent and the visitors center is very nice.

Heather Hennigan

This place was amazing great for history lessons and awesome for sights seeing I would recomand this for social stuidies trips!!

Scott Noah

Part of the Southern monuments was closed off due to construction and no work was being performed...no reason for that section to be closed...very disappointed

Scott Joyce Pittman

The self guided tour by car affords visitors a close up perspective of the battle lines which are clearly marked with blue (Union) and red (Rebel) plaques indicating the respective fighting units. The tour road signage guides visitors through the park in an orderly fashion. The USS Cairo Museum and pavilion houses the raised remains of the sunken ironclad and hundreds of articles and artifacts recovered from the wreckage. That attraction alone is well worth the visit to the park.

Bobbi Stromer

Interesting to drive through. We did the cell phone tour in our vehicle and it took us almost 4 hrs and we didn't think we were being overly slow. We did get out and walk around a lot of the more interesting stops. I'm sure it could be done faster if you only stopped to listen to the audio and then drove to the next or just kept driving while listening.

Rebecca Jordan

Awesome. Everyone needs to go visit at least once. So much history here. Learned a lot.

Wildcat nation

Was great drive thru park. Takes a day to do it right. Unfortunately our politicians nationally & locally have decided for us that the Civil War never happened. They have not learned a thing about what happens when you have selected memory. As in Hitler's book burning episodes in Germany. If you can't see it or read about it, it never happened.

Jay Gates

After 5PM the main road is shut down and you're able to run or walk your dog or bike it. Beautiful way to check the park out after hours. Also no admission fee!

Lee Ray

Staff were helpful in finding my relative who fought and died in Vicksburg. Beautiful park and city!

Ryan Rothchild

Rich in history and heritage, this park and museum are beautiful and vital to the education of our citizens.

Harvey Strubell

It's a beautiful place to be.

Roman Gardner

I haven't been through here in years and I'm so glad that today I decided to take a drive down memory lane. If you haven't been here before, it's worth the drive to Vicksburg. And if you have been here before, you always find something new you didn't know about. It's truly a beautiful national Park.

Dietmar Greitens

Very interisting and informative. Also very hot on that day. Better go by car than by food.

leashle anderson

Great historical landmake and great for exercise

Cheryl Mercer

Tells a great story of history. Loved the drive thru the park with your own car. Plenty to do and see.

Sam Fisher

Great place with a well though our self drive tour. One thing that could be improved is having images at each stop showing a 'now vs then' depiction of the battle so you get a better understanding of the events.

Chris McKintosh

Wonderful place. Only $20 per car that's good for 7 days. Took us a day and a half to go through it. Great info at the visitor center and a nice drive through the park.

jeanette howard

Totally awesome. 16 mile drive at your own pace.

Steve Botschon

Park was closed, due to impending storms. We walked it. Was a humbling experience, knowing what happened here. Being able to see where the Union and Confederate armies were placed and walk where they fought was truly an experience for my wife and I. Wished we had more time to explore each area.

Scott McVickar

Amazing place to visit. Plan to spend several hours exploring the history.

Sandi Wicklund

Took the auto tour through the battlefield. We also saw the movie in the visitor center about the battle.

johnny bellenger

Have ran and biked here... fantastic

SteelersFanMark

I've visited all the major Civil War battlefields and national parks and this is top 3!! Visitor center is smallish - but has all the necessary items and historical info. I had my 4 year old grandson and the park rangers were so nice - he even got his junior ranger badge. You'll spend at least 2-3 hours driving the route(s). We split the day and ate lunch and then returned and saw the USS Cairo museum (awesome!). Pay attention to the map route - I ended up driving a portion twice trying to exit the park. Loved it!!

40 Octaves Below

To walk the same hills as the Civil War soldiers is heart wrenching. A deeply moving experience that will be tattooed in your memory, long after your visit.

Jeffrey Couch

One of the earliest National Military Parks in the country.

MOTEE ABUNIMA

The food and the service were great and the price was cheap compare to IHOP or Denny's.

Dana Wright

A great piece if history to visit. It takes a good 2 hours to be able to see everything as the park is much larger than I imagined. We did the self guided tour listening to the info on their phone link.

Audrey Spencer

I went there on a hike with many of my classmates. It took a 9 hour bus ride to get here, and our teachers insisted we would love it. They weren't lying. Although my legs ache, I'd do it again no doubt.

Rebecca Roth

The highlight of Vicksburg is the USS Cairo, the only place you can see one of the "Brown Navy's" famous ironclads. If you are a civil war buff, you will be moved to see her and explore the artifacts in the adjacent museum. The park as a …

Angela DeScalzo

A wonderful park for historians and military bluffs alike.

J Hines

Beautiful. It is absolutely worth a trip to go drive around and experience the history of Vicksburg

jesper

Interesting park and a good place to remind the casualties, but I expected to see more of the war itself

Joe Clearwater

You just have to see this , no words are strong enough , those who take care of this park , have an awesome responsibility , and do a great job,

Randy Garcia

These peaceful surroundings envelope you, then you get to imagine the horrors of war. Please keep history alive and visit.

Alison Hague

Far more than I expected. A must visit if you are in the area.

Andrew Dunsworth

Very interesting to see the battlefield and monuments. The park ranger was very knowledgeable and understanding when explaining to all the different sides of the conflict. The exhibits and film showed just what it was like and what was at stake. Recommend to all!

beautiful, historic civil war national park. love it!

Terri Cosby

If you enjoy history than our park is s must see. It is a very important battlefield that help decide the civil war. Lots to see and do including the Illinois mounument a wonder to behold and the USS Cairo a union ironclad ship that my father CWO4 Norvel E Cosby USCG help retrieve from the river.

Dhruv P

One of the best places i have seen. The drive is very scenic and surrounded by the ones fallen. It feels very

Shaun Richards

Great national park. It's a driving tour where you pass along hundreds of individual monuments. There are different ways (by phone, CD, app) through which to learn about significant sites. Also features the USS Cairo national park, which is a restored Civil War sunken ship. A great place for American historians.

Glenn Rainer

Visited welcome center and restrooms clean with a lot of information very pleasant

Amber Long

We did the audio tour and if we are able to return we will pay for a personal tour guide. They were all booked up the day we went. There is so much to take in. We spent over 4 hours and didn't stop at every point. If you like history this is for you.

Ray Toomey

Very impressive. Do your homework first. It is helpful to know what the history is before you go. Give yourself plenty of time.

Alex Mikesell

Great well kept battlefield, knowledgable staff, really enjoyable day here. Allocate 3 hours for a general tour, but i easily spent the day hiking around the grounds.

Ellie Hall

Very neat place to see. If you're in the area, carve out some time to see it. The drive is beautiful, the tour guide you call is informative and interesting. The monuments are really neat to see.

The best civil war Park in the country. Great views, monuments, and very interesting history.

It was so interesting to see the terrain of the battle to understan all the issues at play, emotional and tactical.

regina stephens

Very long but beautiful outstanding and very informative. Took a few hours to get through.

Kurt Hansen

Extensive park, allow two or more hours to drive through plus the visitor center and video.

j b

Great historic place to visit

gregorior gregory

Well documented. Beautiful setting.

Richard Crego

Very cool self guided auto tour you can get a better idea of what the soldiers on both sides of the civil war went through.

C Sutton

Do watch the film before you go in. You need to know a little bit of how the battle happened to follow the battle on the tour. Nice drive. Slow paced.

Wayne Holly

Very interesting and well presented. Information in each stop is available on your smart phone or your car radio. You'll leave knowing much more about the battle for Vicksburg.

Julian Oglesby

I loved everything about this!! So much we went back the next day so we could see the rest that we missed. Very educational and outstanding work in the recreation of historic treasures that were lost over time. It's a must see

Check this place out. Used to hang out here all the time. Always found something new. The people here are nice and can usually regal you with some historical lore about something or other even if its not about the park

Adam

It will be a great show on the 4th of July this year and next year.

Patricia Wheeler

Grand kids liked it, but there was no tour available that day.

The inside is beautiful! There are plaques with names and divisions on the wall.

I had been here before and the place is a solid five stars. This time I went to just the gift shop as I was passing through the area. My goal was to purchase a t-shirt for my husband because his old one was worn out. I was VERY disappointed in their current shirts. They used to be heavyweight 100% cotton and cost just under $20. They also had a good selection of sizes, colors, and designs. Now they only had a few designs and colors, the 60% polyester/40% cotton material is so thin you could read a book through it, and they were almost double the price of just a few years ago! Who in their right mind, living in the South, wears t-shirts made of polyester in the summertime?! Needless to say, I did not purchase a shirt.

Great source of knowledge. The drive was amazing. A must see!

Awesome place plan on an all day adventure

I came here years ago and today I brought my daughter to experience an amazing part of our country's history. I have to say I was extremely disappointed with the overgrowth of vegetation, my memories was of manicured lawns everywhere.

Great place. Highly recommend if you are a history buff, nor not

Angela Croll

It was good. Would have probably been better if we had did a tour.

Ricci Creger

Some of the grass needed cutting but some of it had been cut recently I suspect they had already begun the cutting rounds, lots of acres there! Very clean and well kept otherwise.

Jerome Taweel

1st time there. Really enjoyed all the history

SpinItOnceSpinItTwice

It was difficult to find where to go because we had seen so much... But otherwise very educational!!!

You want trench warfare & can't make it to WW1 sites overseas, come here. Massive & Extensive battlefield. Walking & driving a must. Alot of sites. Grants canal is on other side of River a little out of the way. Fortification drive offs in town.

Darren Clayton

Long wait at the cash cage. 20 min to cash chips is ridiculous. Otherwise Casino was nice and had good live music.
