REVIEWS OF Maritime and Seafood Industry Museum IN Mississippi

Tony R

Nice place is your into maritime stuff

Alan Kozusko

The museum was used by Mississippi DOT for welcome reception for the Regional Equipment ROADEO. Three floors of light food and drinks. Excellent displays of the areas history and sea-related items. Staff was very nice. Will definitely go again when not on a conference so time to look more.

Andrew Prince

We toured the museum and saw many items related to boats of all kinds, engines, replicas of many boats and tools of the trade in the sea food industry. This definitely was a history lesson of our area, both years ago and to the present.

Keith Quackenbush

I enjoyed the place. It was neat, clean and informative. Well worth the visit.

Mary Anderson

Absolutely loved it.

Derrick Brownlee

We attended a wedding rehearsal dinner there. It was a very unique and charming atmosphere. It does not get more "nautical" feeling for an event than dining next to a full size sail boat.

Ken Bolinsky

Very hard to get info on the location. Said it was open on Sunday but got there and was closed. Several cars arrived while we were there and turned around. Apparently I was not the only person that thought they were open

Wade Dominey

Mike Schambureck

Sherry Hegerty

Awesome place !

Sandra Munday

Everyone should visit this museum.

Jake Kramer

We really enjoyed museum.

Bert Green

This is an extraordinary local museum. The displays are generally well organised and informative. The graphic wall sequence of coastal zone history requires attention, but is worth it. The long videos about the evolution of maritime commerce show the challenges and immense changes faced by the folks that "weathered" it.

James Taylor

We enjoyed a rainy day at this museum, and had a very memorable experience. My kids enjoyed all of the exhibits as well as the gift shop.

Eric Michael

Good history lesson for area.

Jim Williams

This local museum presents it's topic in an engaging and meaningful way. Ideally, attend with your mom who can point out her shrimper-father's name on the statue and at the end of the video on the second floor; short of that - go see this museum for a genuine flavor of Biloxi - former fishing-capital of the world. BONUS - by presenting the effects of various storms on the region over the years and the specific, permanent effects on the area due to hurricane Katrina, this museum can be viewed as a warning to the world about what may be lost in the near future due to climate change.

Alexis Yount

Interesting exhibits and nice location over looking the water.

Jim DeLoach

We went to the new years party. Good food Great band and an Oyster ball that dropped at midnight .

Very informative, especially about the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina.

Trevor Bingham

This is a great museum! The staff is very friendly. There are three levels. They suggested that we start at the top level. This was great advice. We really enjoyed the hurricane history room. The seafood industry equipment is very neat. The sailboats are beautiful. They have a military, senior, and student discount. So, it's a reasonable price.

Maximiliano Knox Laguna

Amazing Museum & Fantastic Staff! There's so much to do and see. You can book a sailing tour aboard a historic Biloxi Schooner (a fantastic way to get to know the Gulf Coast), you can send your kids to summer camp, there are Museum events, exhibits... a must see if you're visiting the area.

Family fun time

Matt Bramel

We visited while on our vacation to Gulfport spent two plus hours here. I really like how they tell the storys behind all things maritime from the different sea food beginnings to boat building. The hurricane history and recovery room, man did that hit me. The utter devastation of hurricane Katrina then to see the resilience of the Biloxi people to rebuild their community. Museum is a great way to spend family time and learning.

Michael Metz

Walk through museum with a ton of information in it. Not for little kids but good for older kids and adults. Requires a lot of reading and patience. Lots of history. I enjoyed it, my kids, not so much.

This place is always wonderful to visit. But, this time i was there for a party so this time it was a little different. It accomodated about 100 people reasonably. Much more and it would have been too many.

Educational, but you have to put in the time to read all the placards on the displays.

Dale Anton

Very interesting displays. Give yourself enough time as there is much to see.

Megon Manuel

It had so many interesting things!! Enjoyed every minute... Great memories

N.G C. R.

Great place to take your family, loved talking to a volunteer there that had so much knowledge about the artifacts. There is a small play area for kids to play outside of the museum that is free, real nice. There is a fee to enter the museum but it's totally worth it.

Good museum. The Hurricane Camille exhibit was eye opening to the ravages that storm visited on the coast and the local people. My only complaint is that it didn't take long at all to see everything.

Mary Vandermay

Mary Hull

Watched the movie on Katrina, which made you feel like you were there. After being here a couple weeks, we could pinpoint many spots that were filmed, including right by where we are staying. The hotel that was here was demolished. Frank enjoyed the boats on display and all the fishing and shrimping info

Micheal Ross

Informative

J. K. S Jr

Very nice & very informative, especially Katrina exhibit.

Mrs. Bowers

C Ranee

The displays feel a bit unorganized. Also, The camille exhibit was a bit disappointing. I'd be interested in seeing a more robust timeline of not only the hurricane, but recovery efforts as well. The before and after pics were good, but how about adding "current" or after rebuild ones too.

Joe Crawford

dan ellis

Not just for the ship builder, but everything Marine and great displays

Duane Cook

Was there a for Saturday afternoon meeting. The facility was great and accommodating all of us.

Chris Durden

Really informative and enjoyable. About 2 hours plenty of time. Visual studios were great.

Jeff Hartman

$10 to get in, could not find door.

janet miller

Great history of the fishermen and their vessels. Lots of interesting local information. The volunteers are very knowledgeable and interesting (Edgar). Worth a visit and they have several films I unfortunately didn't have time to watch. May not be good for small kids but they have plenty else to do on the coast.

Alison M

Very interesting and informative.

Dick Davenport

A small but poignant museum with heartbreaking video of Katrina's devastation. Personal memories of people and places, for me, was quite emotional. The Gulf shrimping industry carries 75 years of history in my own family's relationship to Biloxi.

greg stillings

Judi Jetson

I'm always interested in museums that tell the story of the industry of an area, and this one does an excellent job. It also portrays the people who made Biloxi the seafood capital of the world in the early 1900s, how they lived and why things changed. Beautiful boats build locally, great use of video. And just the right size - worth visiting!

Billy Douglass

Great Food Great Service

Rob

Great little museum on the Mississippi gulf coast. We're working with a new client who is heavily involved in the revival of the Mississippi seafood industry, specifically as it relates to oyster fisheries. That same client recommended our creative team visit this museum to familiarize with the regions history and evolution. It was a great recommendation and we have much more of a historical perspective to begin working on this new project.

Lee Stanton

My grandchildren and I loved this museum. Ask the attendant about the Biloxi Schooner Tour. The phone number on the website for the schooner is not a working number.

Tom Bayless

Really a great museum to learn about the Biloxi prior to 1900 thru Katrina. Would recommend for anyone. The only negative was the closed caption was not working for hearing impaired.

Elaine Cain

We spent a wonderful few hours here. Very informative with a lot of artifacts. Well worth visiting.

diane moore
