Incredible place to visit. Less than 5 minutes off the Natchez Trace. 8 acre mound made by hand. We were the only people out there and it felt incredible to walk around and imagine all the things that happened in the past.

Charlie Alford

Fun to walk up the hill and read about the history of the mound

What a fascinating place this is. Such a different culture from ours. The mound is massive and boggles the mind that it was built one basket full at a time. A recommended book to read is “ The Memoir of Lieutenant Dumont, 1715-1747, if you want I be in lightened about the Natchez Indians, and their way of life.

We have Indian mounds in GA, but this one beats every thing. Be SURE to take the 1 minute walk up the short, paved path to the top. All the historical markers will suddenly make sense when you see the immense size.

Dave Hoovler

Extremely nice site demonstrating abilities of the Mississippi culture.

Sandra Loomis Tiffee

I've visited here many times...never tire of this place. This time hubby and I had our bikes and made a nice little 4.4 mile loop from the parking lot.

This has been a frequent stop for my family over the years. Wonderful historic place to visit. Great for children to learn and lots of space to run. I do wish the old wooden stairs were still in place on the mound. It is not so easy for kids and older people to get up there anymore. But still great!

Terri Dopp-Paukstat

Magical place. Amazing mound built 1000 years ago. Good place to watch the sunset.

Great experience seeing this piece of American history! The flat hill as my son called it lol! Not really anything to do here but sightsee.

Thomas

Worth every rattle and bump down the terrible road leading to it lol. It is crazy to think it as made with no power tools or heavy equipment! What a feat! If you are nearby you gotta stop, there is only mound bigger in the US! This one is massive!!

MARY ZORRILLA

(Translated by Google) American history ... there is not much qbver, but it has a special aura (Original) Historia Americana...no hay mucho qbver, pero tiene un aura especial

Beautiful site, a must stop on the Trace near Natchez.

An impressive historical Indian mound of huge size. We were unable to climb up, as the path was fenced off, which was disappointing.

Mae Bryd

Beautiful place to visit. It takes you back in time .

marsha eason

Educational American Indian site. Signs have lots of historic information. I was a little disappointed the steps to the top of the mound were in bad shape. Steps were barricaded.

History is amazing to see. I am ready to see another one.

I give it four stars due to spotty maintenance. It's historic and cultural value cannot be measured. One of the first stops on the scenic Natch Trace Parkway, and well worth the drive! Nearby Grand Village of the Natchez provides context.

Dissappointed to see visitors letting their kids sled down the mound with cardboard trash. Is this really an indigenous peoples ancient artifact? We are really in trouble with the lack of preservation of history.

(Translated by Google) The ride on the trail and is very nice because you can enjoy nature. However, this Indian altar hill is really just a grassy hill. The detour was not worth it for us. (Original) Die Fahrt auf dem Trail und ist sehr schön, da man die Natur genießen kann. Allerdings ist dieser indianische Altar-Hügel wirklich nur ein Grashügel. Der Umweg hat sich für uns nicht gelohnt.

Nice short diversion. Walk to the top and marvel!

Blanquito Chulito

Lost my silver ring that I got in Ireland after i slid down the mound in the rain. Neat place but not enough references to give an idea of it's importance. If you find my ring....let me know! I figured the spirit of the Indians took it as a small payment for my ancestors wiping them out unfortunately.

Shayden Smith

There's a lot of history here, but really not much to see. It would be neat to have a pow wow here.

A must see for any family who is trying to teach their children. Some of the older costumes that are American History.

Very impressive site, especially knowing that it was built by hand! A national historic landmark. Encompassing 8 acres, it is the 2nd largest temple mound in the USA. There is a special feeling to this place and it certainly deserves our respect.

This was a really neat place to visit, my three little boys loved rolling down the big hills. You have a sense of total amazement while there...it took 300 years to build the mound!

Debra Stander

This was quite an experience and worth a visit to see the effort put forth.

Octavia S.

It didn't live up to it's title of being the second largest mound in America. I went there expecting to be out of breath by the time I made it to the top, but it only took maybe a minute or two to reach.

Celeste Winkle

Extraordinary

Michael Cochran

Really enjoyed seeing the mound. Worth stopping for. Road a little rough driving to it off trace but fortunately not very far.

Garry Cahill

Very different to other mound sites. Worth the climb to the top. A fine example of a little known part of the culture of American Indians.

Bo Baucum

Yet another beautiful sight along the trace.

ethan Mayers

Super close to the Natchez Trace. Well kept and fascinating history.

Angela Croll

So nice to visit a spot of the first true Americans "native". I had looked forward to seeing a mound for 40 years or more.

Natalie Roper

Very remote and peaceful. The perfect spot for some meditation. I really enjoyed my visit and will be sure to return

Susan Pence

Cool archaeological site

Eddie Brown

Extraordinary architectural achievement from early Native Americans.
