Amazing views and the bluest water and just down the road is miners beach which is amazing. Soft sand cold water and lots of cool rocks to collect the kids loved it.
Time after time, season by season, the views do not disappoint.
This place is amazing and worth visiting in summer or fall season. We took a cruise trip to all the famous sandstone rocks. 2hour trip covers all of them (see few attached pictures). For vegetarians/vegans there is hardly any option to eat in the city other than subway. But there is huge local grocery store(as big as walmart) which can provide everything you need.
If you want a nice and informative boat ride definitely do this
My coworker recommended this place to me and I really appreciate for his choice. The scenary is breathtaking. My whole family enjoyed hiking, walking and sightseeing here. Although it was middle of the summer, due to the location being in Northern Michigan, the temperature was actually fantastic and it was even cool in the forest. I highly recommend visiting here, especially during the summer!!
Beautiful area. Worth the money to take a boat tour
Nice place to visit. Lots of water falls and scenery. The best way to see the Pictured Rocks is by boat.
Beautiful scenic trails along the edge of Lake Superior with beaches along the way. Best seen from the water. Boat tlurs are very popular and book up quickly. Hoghly recommend the area. Well worth the trip.
A beautiful view and amazing bluffs. The water was so pretty. We went swimming and it was very warm considering it was lake superior.
Even though it is a cloudy day the tour was fantastic and our Keegan did a great job! This is our second trip here and we'd do it again!!!
Hurricane River is a beautiful place to see and enjoy, ship reck by sable light house. Wild short bush blueberries!!! Well groumed trial to log slide.
Yearly visit I could not imagine missing. Sooo many changes even if you go the same time each year. Pictures are great to look at on a rainy cold off-season day, but during the season you need to make the trip!
Fantastic views. Worth the effort of getting there. Also enjoyed the North Country Trail.
Booked a campsite on recreation.gov for $20 you are able to be 50 feet from the beach at twelvemile. Given it was getting towards the end of the season the park was in great shape. Roads are nearly perfect, pit toilets weren't totally wrecked. Water fountain dispensed crisp great water. The key is to get on a boat or kayak and see the cliffs from a few feet away. The hikes leading to waterfalls are really nice.
Love the hiking trails there. Beautiful forest and lakeshore.
At Miners Castle Scenic Overview there's beautiful forest, well kept facilities and great views of Lake Superior, Grand Island, Miners Castle & very close by is Miners falls.
It’s amazing natural rock formations by the Lake Superior which will automatically push you to say wao. It’s an wonderful experience whether you do kayaking or experience it via boat ride. It’s quite windy if you are sitting on the deck and you must have some hoodie with you.
Very pretty scenery! The crew and the boat were very good. On the way there the rocks were on one side and the captain explained alot to us. But we were not sitting on that side so we couldn't see very well. Then in the way back the rocks were on our side but nothing was explained to us. So I feel like I was didn't that great of a tour. But other than that great time!
Get a glimpse of nature history through the Pictured Rocks shoreline as leeching minerals have colored these cliffs creating natural art. Awesome & beautiful all in one.
Great hiking and views. No fee to enter. Beautiful photo ops and clean newish restrooms.
Beautiful just beautiful. So blessed to see this place with my husband and see just how beautiful the UP is. So clean and crystal clear. The rocks and cliffs just loved it
We made sure we keep an eye out on the weather because of the reviews want to say thank you for the reviews..We had a beautiful day and the lake was calm..was nice as i get motion sickness ( i did take medicine and it helped).. could not of asked for a better day..It was definitely a beautiful place to see. i would recommend it to everyone. The ship crew were very nice and told jokes as well. Depending on the weather makes a big difference, if you get a day with winds i would suggest a coat for sure.. our weather was 76 degrees so it was awesome, we did not need a coat. you are allowed to bring a blanket and a little cooler..they also sell water and pop on the boat for a dollar..they also have a bathroom...no smoking or alcohol is allowed ..My husband and i really enjoyed this experience..AWESOME PLACE
So beautiful. You will not regret going!
Pictured Rocks, the Trail's, and Scenic Views are Awesome. You can ride on Ferryboat, or rent a Kayak. It's a Great place to spend at Least a Full Day
Beautiful waterfall. Well worth the stop. The walk to the waterfall was nice, but alot of stairs to climb.
It's an easy walk small staircase when you start slant downhill pathways and a small staircase at the end.. coming back I was worried about the incline of the pathways as I don't do stairs well but it wasn't that bad take your time and enjoy nature.
Beautiful and all the crew did what they could do to make sure everyone had a great experience.
Absolutely amazing place to go! If you are in northern Michigan this is a must see! Kayaking is the way to go as you can get right up next to the cliffs. Very fun.
Great narrator but the while story is told on the way out and nothing on the way back. Still very good but could be better.
Beautiful stuff to see. Scenic hikes and great kayaking in Lake Superior
Don't just see pictured rocks. Take the day and cruise around to all that lake shore has to offer. Minerva's falls and Munsing Falls are well worth it among many other little destinations. Get a full tank of gas and go exploring!
Awesome experience!!!!!! Loved it. Beautiful sites. Went with Pictured Rocks Kayaking tour. Felt totally safe the whole time. Defintely recommend them
It's absolutely beautifully amazing there. I for once thought about scuba diving because that's be the one place I'd do it. Wanna get closer to that cave and look inside really bad.
This was an amazing experience. The view Was beautiful the waterfall, trees, rocks the people everything. I never wanted to leave from there. ❤️ By the way, as soon as you walk into this beautiful park you feel welcomed If ur ever stressed come release your stress here it is beautiful ,relaxing, peaceful.
I recently went backpacking 36 miles of it. I've never seen anything as unique and pretty like the rocks. There are beautiful waterfalls in the hike along the way. There are a few steep hill and it's pretty cold in the spring. It's worth the walk. The camp sites are very spacious and some you can hear waterfalls or Lake Superior from. If your looking for a harder but beautiful backpacking trip, this is your place.
Right along Lake Superior, this is a beautiful place. We hiked along Beaver basin and along the shore and Miners Falls and Castle.
Gorgeous day and beautiful natural wonder to behold. Captain Dave had many facts to share about the park and lake superior.
Amazing parks and shoreline! Not enough people know about or visit this amazing place.
This is definitely worth the drive... Great cruise and the Captain and crew were amazing. The history and all the stories kept you staring at the rocks. You just gotta go!!
Find a quiet summer weekend to get here. It's a perfect place to reset and relax. The sheer beauty and simplicity of this shore is comforting ❤️
Beautiful A bucket list must do.
1.7 mile walk out to au sable light house. The lake shore view along the road to the lighthouse was pretty when you could see down the paths to the lake. Have exact change for the $3.00 lighthouse tour.
Awesome place ....cruise ride to view the rocks is a must here .... beautiful beaches, falls etc
It's totally awesome. I was planning to visit this place from last two years. This place is definitely for nature lover's. Several hikes with beautiful waterfalls. Spray Falls cruise was great. I will definitely want to visit this place again in Autumn.
A place of immense beauty. This is the best way to experience Lake Superior, as far as I'm concerned. The trees are beautiful, as is the deep blue water. What an amazing experience; this cannot be missed if you're on the Upper Peninsula.
It’s a must must place for real beauty and sight seeing. The place is next to heaven and has so much of good energy to leave you replenished. The sky and water colors so amazing that you would feel like they blending at the far right stretch of ten lakeshore. Clean and well maintained and attracts loads of tourists for its beauty at bay. A serene beach side and a good hiking trail to visit it in totality.
Amazing place to spend the day hiking and taking in the sites. Stop at the visitor center and the park staff with set you up with maps and info. Worth the stop. Boat cruises available ti take you in the lake to view the Pictured Rocks. You can see some from one of the overlook areas. Several short hikes are available to see waterfalls. Don’t miss that opportunity. Scenic drive. Best day spent in nature.
Always a pleasing trip up north. Breathtaking views that a camera doesn't do justice. Will be returning soon
A truly awe- inspiring experience! The lady and I took the classic cruise at Pictured Rocks Cruises and it was worth every penny of the 31 dollars. I highly recommend visiting this one of a kind marvel in person!
The drive is pretty cool, but that's about it. You have to walk 2 whole miles to actually get there, and it's a cove so you can't really truly see them. Not the best place.
The erosion structures are very beautiful with lovely striations visible from a boat. Kayaking would be the best way to appreciate the scale and beauty.
Wonderful wonderful wonderful I came from out of state and this is beautiful.
Beautiful park. It's a little chilly though, even in July, so dress accordingly.
Pictured rocks and Lake Superior are amazing and beautiful. The rocks are best viewed from a boat or kayak, but hiking in the park is also amazing. Tons of waterfalls in the area and a couple driveable observation decks if hiking isn’t your thing. We did a boat tour, a kayak tour and we hiked 10 miles. If you hike: wear over the ankle boots it’s very sandy and the extra ankle stability will save you knees and the sand from getting into your boots. We stayed in munising and drive to the park every day but if you like primitive camping it appeared there was plenty! The hiking pathways are decently well maintained and decently well marked! I’d suggest getting to the parking areas before 930 in the busy season
This is a bucket list destination. Incredible scenery. You will be amazed at what mother nature has made for you to enjoy.
Beautiful place to visit. Can't wait to return in the fall to see the trees changing colors.
Took a kayaking tour along the lake shore here. It was absolutely beautiful! Definitely worth a visit. Tons of great picture opportunities.
We took the Pictures Rocks boat tour...in a word awesome! Got to see so.many things up close and personal...breathtaking!
One of the beautiful hikes we have made. The full chapel/mosquito hike was challenging for my family and well worth it.
I'm so glad we spent a week here. I hope it never becomes overrun with tourism. So beautiful
Absolutely beautiful even on a rainy day, miners falls was a awesome sight and only .5 miles from the parking lot.
Beautiful scenery abounds here. The views are stunning. Take the boat tour to see the rock formations from the water! Definitely worth your time!
We loved this place. It's an amazing natural wonder. Everyone should see it.
It's a beautiful place where you get to see some of the best mother nature has to offer.
Must visit place. Absolutely love being here.
This is truly northern paradise. The cool waters are so clean and clear you can see so far down into the lake. The rocks themselves are absolutely breath taking. You can see thousands of years of history. Theres been a lot of kayak tours the past couple years but other than that this whole area is so peaceful and beautiful. I went paddle boarding to the arch, it's a long tough paddle but absolutely worth it!
AMAZING experience. Such beauty. A must see experience for anyone who wants to explore the beauty of northern Michigan.
Incredible and remote, not to mention free. An American gemstone nestled in the upper peninsula of Michigan. This national lakeshore looks like it’s straight out of a pirates of the Caribbean movie. The water is a natural blue that I did not think could exist without photo editing, and the towering cliffs and arches are an absolute spectacle. A true Lake Superior treasure.
Definitely for nature lover's. Has many trails, quite a few beaches and lots of waterfalls! There is also a spot where a waterfall goes into Lake Superior where you can play in the water. Amazing experience!
Everything about this place is beautiful. There's tons of hiking trails where you can see waterfalls and beaches. You can tell a real effort is made to preserve the natural beauty. There were a lot of things to see that required very little hiking. Some of the must sees in my opinion are Sable Falls, Grand Sable Dunes, Log Slide, Miners Beach, Miners Castle, and Miners Falls.
The rocks are absolutely beautiful. The best way to view the rocks is from the water though some of the landmark features can be hiked to. Lots of trails and waterfalls within the park. You can easily spend a few days exploring the park. Also, no entry fee to the park, even though it is operated by the NPS.
Natural beauty of the rocks to view and look. Ferry ride seems lengthy for two and half hours. Can be reduced a bit for 1 hr and can be provided with different options like 1 hr or 2.5 hrs. This area does not have enough signal , so better to carry GPS Best play to stay is Quality Inn Manistique
Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore hugs the south shore of Lake Superior in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The best sightseeing, camping, hunting, fishing, boating, and many winter activities. With over 100 miles of trails, you'll find some of the best hiking in Michigan here!!!!
Great Lakeshore. Best to view the shore by boat tour, as otherwise you are looking from the cliffs. It does have some nice hiking trails.
Lake Superior's shoreline is about as good as it gets when it comes to natural beauty. Pictures rocks does not disappoint, highly recommend seeing this to anyone on planet Earth.
Amazing views! If you have a chance check out the nearby waterfalls. On certain nights the aurora borealis is visible near Munising, I've seen it fill the sky. Bring essentials for the bathrooms and bug spray if you're planning to stay out late.
Absolutely gorgeous. Visited at end of May and had much of the trails to ourselves. Would love to visit in Autumn as well as kayak. Waterfalls everywhere. Be sure to take the cruise! Its worth it for a relaxing evening activity.
Such a beautiful shoreline to hike and explore. The colors in the water are amazing
Always amazing. Took a boat cruise out to see the rocks from the water for the first time and loved it. Would recommend renting a pontoon boat if you have a few people in your group anyways. Similar cost, longer trip, and more flexibility.
Hands down the national Park gets 5 stars. I have been walking this trail since I was 6 or so it was nice to take my 3 kids on the 9-10 mile loop. Yes a 12,10 and 7 year old can do this... But the people using the trail get 1 star. You snowflakes, probable don't know who you are but you are the ones destroying this trail. If you need to urinate or defecate, you need to clean up after yourself, your Mom's not there. And if she is still doing that for you shame on her as well... It's pretty bad when my 7 year old asked me why a person would leave that there. It clearly states to pack out the toilet paper. And really do you have to do it right next to the trail!?!?
Great place to visit. Plenty of trails to hike to the many scenic views. Take the boat tour. It is well worth for the relaxing time and the views from the boat are amazing. You can even rent kayaks to make your own tour. Nice swim beach. Just an overall great place to visit. Very easy to make a couple day visit.
Beautiful scenery with a variety of cliffs, beaches and waterfalls.
Amazingly beautiful. You have to see it from the water and an evening kayak trip is the best way with the best colors.
I am really tempted to rate this one star because it's becoming so popular and I don't want to share it. I don't have anything to add that hasn't been said. It's an amazing little piece of the planet.
Um... Well, this one is conflicting... I meañ, it was a life changing experience to say the least. Just maybe not in all positive ways. I'll leave it at that. Mysterious.
amazing. Took a boat cruise out to see the rocks from the water for the first time and loved it. Pictures dont do justice on the real thing in person!
Great place to go for anyone who loves nature and the outdoors. There are 3 waterfalls with in a short distance of each other.
Did the 10 mile hike counterclockwise in the Chapel Beach direction. As a novice hiker, I’d rank it as moderate, solely for the length. Not too much shift in elevation. The views were gorgeous and it is apparent that the visitors respect the land and/or the park rangers do a good job maintaining the park as it was very clean. Bring bug spray, water, and get ready to take pictures!
It’s a nice place for natural beauty and sight seeing. Lot of trails, pictured rocks and waterfalls. We took the trip in a ferry, it’s about 60 mins to 90 mins for round trip. If you take the ferry it will cover the entire park but I thought doing kayaking at this place will be awesome. You can do the hiking in some places too. Overall, it was nice experience visiting this place.
Absolutely stunning to see and be and take in. I would definitely recommend you going in the morning and then again in the late evening. Sunrise and sunset. To get all the beauty of pictured rocks. Do the hiking trails, embrace the gorgeous nature surrounding it.
Can't say enough how beautiful this was, even though it was a cloudy day. Absolutely breathtaking , well worth the trip.
Northern Michigan is a beautiful place to visit. Pictured Rocks is full of amazing places to visit showcasing some of Michigan's most scenic natural attractions.
A really unique experience. Definitely recommend to anyone of all ages. I love nature and this was a really great find!
Mother nature in her purest form. Some of the most natural art from nature you will ever see!
Beautiful! Lots of hiking in the area. Many waterfalls to see. If you have an opportunity take a boat ride or kayak to get a great view of the rocks.
I've hiked all over Europe and Central America and "Pictured Rocks" is one of the most beautiful places in the world. If you visit, remember, leave only your foot prints!!!
The most beautiful place I have visited. I would recommend the kayaking tour. Just breath taking.
I went on a sunset boat tour, which was a great way to see the rocks, but hiking is a much better way to appreciate the beauty of the region. I would recommend the hike to Chapel Rock, but it's best to get there in the morning(We had to get up at 6) but staying overnight there would also be an option. The parking lot was overfull by noon on a Sunday, and the beach and trail are nicest when you're alone.
A great place for a family trip to get away for some peace and quite! Do yourself a favor and rent a boat to get out on the lake to enjoy the shoreline. Beautiful scenery all around!
This is tranquility at its best. Miles and miles of shoreline, sand dunes, woods. What more is needed? Wildlife? Plenty of that also. Remember to leave only foot prints. Thanks.
Loved pictures rocks, lots of interesting scenery and hiking paths. You wont be disappointed with what Michigan has to offer.
This shoreline is an absolute treasure that is a must see. Beautifully preserved for centuries, the best way to explore is by boat or kayak. Make sure to go on a warm day and plan to take numerous pictures of this beautiful scenery.
The best thing we did on our trip.
The majesty of God's creation all around you in beautiful shades of color. Take a relaxing and beautiful boat ride to see the highlights and hear the amazing statistics about Lake Superior.
Amazing. The Grand Canyon of Lake Superior. Tour it by pontoon rental and hiking. Seriously the scale of this place doesn't translate.
Beautiful scenery. 100 miles of hiking trails. Several waterfalls to see, and strikingly beautiful shoreline. Shoreline is best seen from the water...so kayaking is on the list for tomorrow.
Beautiful place to hike, kayak, camp, and see Lake Superior. The rock colors and formations are incredible. Stay a couple days for sunset, sunrise!
Hidden gem, and I hope it stays this way. The 10 mile Chapel loop hike was amazing!
Awesome place to visit! Beautiful beach, with mountains in the background.
Very beautiful rock formations and less crowded. Best way to enjoy pictured rock is from water. So do consider that if you plan to visit. And Munising looked to be the only town near by pictured rock area.
The hike along the shore trail is quite beautiful. I found the stretch between Chapel beach and Grand Portal point has the most scenic views. Mosquito river beach was also very beautiful with limestone steps going into the water instead of sand. Bring bug spray, they can be nasty in the woods.
Absolutely breath taking! An amazing experience hidden in Michigans Upper Peninsula!
Beautiful, love the trails. Beach is amazing. Water is crystal clear.
Worth the long travel to the U.P. family had a great time, wish we had more time to explore. MUST SEE for all you Lower Peninsula folks!
Nice boat ride. Loved the captain's narration. Beautiful scenery!
Only way to see pictured rocks. It is 2 hrs ride, gets cold in the evening, arrive early for best inside seats on the right side of the boat.
Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore is like no other place! My friend and l visited Munising Falls, Miners Falls, Miners Castle Overlook, Laughing Whitefish Falls and Au Train Falls. We enjoyed hiking on several trails, lucky enough to see two female Deer, all the falls were beautiful, walked on one of many beaches on Lake Superior and saw several sandstone cliffs. This was one of our favorite places on our trip. Gorgeous at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore!!
Beautiful views! I think it's best to go on a kayak tour to get the best views!
The rocks are gorgeous with all the coloring from minerals and Mother Nature! The history is amazing.
My husband and I went kayaking it was so fun! Beautiful views the entire trip!
its the UP.beautiful and remote. walking trails and waterfalls.
Its a nice place..visit everything via kayak/canoe for better experience. And make sure you bring your A1 MOSQUITO REPELLENT .(seriously, bring mosquito repellent , there are so many of them)
Simple, but good quality facilities. The waterfalls were great, as was the lakeshore scenery. The boat tour is a near must-do activity, or as an alternative in good weather you can rent a kayak. The cliffs are, by far, best seen from the water.
Pictures do not do Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore justice. Pictured Rocks is Mother Nature’s graffiti art and it is magnificent! I strongly suggest taking a cruise to take in all the majesty it has to offer.
Beautiful surroundings and well maintained. Staff was very friendly and professional.
The guides on the tours are very knowledgeable! Great experience
Beautiful the water is so blue and clear. If you like falls go see them, but some are a good hike be prepared and enjoy this wonderful place.
Beautiful with fresh air and chilly breeze following with incredible view something worth the hike and those steps to see this natural beauty
What an amazing area. Nice hikes for all levels and amazing views that don’t disappoint the most demanding. Please continue to help to maintain the lakeshore clean and in good condition.
True Beauty everywhere you look here. Plenty of signs to help you navigate and no entrance fees!
Awesome place I wish I had more time to go around.
So beautiful!! My family enjoyed our vacation here. So much to see, trails to explore, waterfalls to discover. Can't wait to come back.
Absolutely beautiful area, definitely go on the cruise. It is the best way to see the cliffs in a short time. The sunset cruise was worth it. The beaches were clean and accessible. Kayaks galore in the water.
It was so amazing to see and it really took my breath away. This comming from a teenager who is usually to good for everything
Very beautiful. Lots of hikes and waterfalls. The rangers are very helpful.
Miles of beauty, one of the most scenic places on Lake Superior.
Gorgeous. Be prepared, though. The trails are longer than they appear on the free maps. Also...parking is an issue and many of the roads are narrow/unpaved.
Wide variety of activities of many levels and abilities - drive to Falls and Lighthouses. Many beaches in park nor nearby. Longer hikes to scenic Falls and spectacular rock formations. Campground (rustic) and back country backpacking camping. There is a trail which follows the entire park coastline (42 miles). Kayak tours or boat cruises are ideal to view the stained rocks and many formations not viewable from shore (as you are above many). Neighbouring towns - Munising (West) and Grand Marais (East) for restaurants and lodging.
The pictured rocks were quite beautiful and unique. The visitor center (90% gift shop) is one of the worst I've seen for a National Park visitor center. Junior Ranger packet was great, it had age appropriate informational activities! (Bring a pen.) Not to be rude, but if you are looking for trails and waterfalls (fewer bugs and humidity too) you need to visit the Pacific Northwest! WA, ID, & OR are jaw dropping...
Lives up to the hype. The hike from miners castle to miners beach was my favorite. Both places are crowded, and you can drive between the two, but the 1 mile hike is worth it, takes you to a less crowded part of the beach, and the trail was practically empty
Did the classic boat cruise and its worth the money. Got to see the rock formation as a result of wind and water. And the different minerals deposit giving the rocks their different colors was a treat. Cruise was 38 bucks a person.
So beautiful! I recommend checking this state park out! The paths are very well maintained and the views are beautiful!!
Beautiful place, was on my bucket list. Will go there again no questions asked.
Northland Adventures was the best decision we had ever made.
Excellent area to explore, unwind, and relax. So many things to do. From visiting the many waterfalls and beach's to renting a pontoon or kayak and running the picturesque shoreline of Lake Superior. Had a great time.
Absolutely gorgeous! Came in the fall and the colors did not disappoint. Loved the hiking!
Beautiful natural area with scenic trails and views of the Superior lakeshore. Munising Falls and Miner's Castle are the most popular easy access destinations.
Great views of the lake, cliffs, waterfalls, and water carved sedimentary rocks. A number of the rock views would require a hike or boat tour but worth the stop to see the easily accessible falls and miners castle lookout!
This park is amazing. Make sure to take the trail to Chapel rock and to Mosquito falls and you’ll surely won’t be disappointed. I loved every second of my time in this park!
Just absolutely amazing. had the pleasure of seeing it with my daughter and family. We had such an amazing time. Rented a pontoon boat and it turned out to be a gorgeous day. Definaly worth the money. It was a priceless day. Loved every second of it.
This place is packed with people 7 days a week from dawn to dusk, but my complaint is that theres no toilets for most of it. When there is THAT many people (which there is), there needs to be toilets for us. When theres that many people, you cant just go hide in the woods to handle your business, and its inhumane to expect us to do that.
Few things are more beautiful in the state of Michigan. Absolutely worth the time to explore
Beautiful views of lake Superior! Clean and easy to get around. Nice walkways! A gem of the U.P.!!
Backpacked the place for the weekend. Had a great time. There are definitely some hidden gems within Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore
Beautiful!!! One of the most impressive views around Lake Superior. One of my favorite places in the U.P.
Endless amounts of beauty, woods, water...adventures...education and learning...lighthouses, waterfalls, beaches, rock formations. Beautiful in all seasons. Endless amounts of trails...photography opportunities. Tons of fun. A palette for the eyes. Enjoy one of the first national park systems...also one of the least visited. I'm sure you'll find something beautiful and for you here :)
Natural rock formations from that boat tour are a great destination for a vacation. I have been on two types of tours, late afternoon and a day one, two different tours. Worth the trip.
Looks super beautiful. I would recommend Seaberg Pontoon for the best experience. You will not regret it. It is the best way to get up close to the mountain and beaches.
