Wonderful historic home of a whaling ship captain. Not open every day but dates and times are posted. Added feature is a tour guide who will answer any of your questions.

Great old Captain's House. Sign up for the tour if you have the chance. Great historic family with an adventurous story. Nice trail around house adjacent fields and marsh. Great view of Nauset Marsh from trail and Fort Hill. Historic Nauset Indian Rock on trail.

The house was closef onfortunately. Not sure when they have tours. There used to be a distinctive whale jaw gate that was removed for sadety. It was so distinctive that I almost wish they had a replica! Still worth the visit for the views and paths. Go up to the overlook for a truly beautiful view of the marshes and shore.

Old sea captain house presently (Jan 2019) under renovation and generally inaccessible. It is an attractive old home and worth a close look, visit. Nearby are beautiful walking trails. Views overlook Nauset Harbor marshes and tributaries in Orleans and Eastham. The Red Maple Swamp walk is pretty. There are no facilities open during the off-season. Best for birdwatching, quiet walks in the woods, and that sort of thing.

So cool! Of course we went on a day where the weather was less than perfect. It was kind of chilly, windy and was sprinkling from time to time. We would have absolutely LOVED to have been able to go inside and check out the woodwork and decor, I assume this house is of Victorian era? Or somewhere around that time. I am in love with designs of this type. My little sister had drove up from CT to stay for less than 24 hours, so we didn't have much time to plan or figure out what we needed a tour guide to actually see! As we were leaving I noticed the bed and breakfast across from the house and wondered if maybe we could have asked them to give us a peak inside. Could have, would have, should have knocked on the door! LOL definitely a beautiful area! My boyfriend was sad that the whale bone that used to mark the prooerty is no longer there. Us girls were pretty disappointed too because we were looking forward to seeing it! We will definitely be looking into when the tours of the inside of the house are scheduled for so we can come back on a much nicer day and explore the cedar swamp even more

It's a neat old house, but there is only one furnished original room. The rest are bare. Good for about ten minutes.
