This Tourist Attraction belongs to the category of Monument.
Impressive ! Crowded, but it worth the walk. Extraordinary on the Capitol buiding and the Washington monument. The sigh of Lincoln status is powerful, you can feel the size that went was and the weight had to carry. By night, it is even more impressive, especially seen from the WWII Memorial
Go see the Big Guy, stand in the presence of greatness and take the time to read the walls. Have a hot dog on the steps and watch the world reflect off the pool for a few.
Lot of people but it didn't have that claustrophobic feeling that you sometimes get at hot tourist locations. Everyone seemed courteous. You don't realize how large the monument is until you get up close. The weather was nice. A little thunder and lightning but nothing that really stopped us from walking around.
Incredible monument! I love being able to see this place, if it's as magnificent as you see on TV shows, I'm definitely speechless! The gift shop is well stocked!
More than I expected! I immediately got the feeling of oh we're onto something here with the age of everything and the quality of the workmanship, it was simply amazing... We went at night during the government "Shutdown" which just means business as usual for the joker's in DC.... I plan on returning when I have a week or so of free time so I can look in every nook and cranny that Washington DC has....
We were very impressed. I only had one issue with the memorials and that was the people on bikes and scooters going all over the place everywhere but the Vietnam wall. Please stop that. Those memorials represent my family and many other Americans families. From Tucson Arizona.
If you are going to DC, you can't leave without visiting this place. History, architecture, and magic converge in this monument. Incredible moments while watching an amazing sunset. Fantastic view and amazing place. Time runs really fast while you enjoy this wonderful place.
This place is beautiful. When you see it, the landmark is very iconic and showcases one of the strongest points in American History. Worth a stop if you are in town. It does get busy but that does not mean that you can enjoy this amazing piece of American History. People do disrespect this but that is their loss and hope that they stop that soon.
It is one cool memorial in the dc area for the one of tallest president that has ever served, the reflecting pool was great but it’s very shallow not like in movies where they fill it up. There is a small gift shop inside the memorial it’s too the right in a small and cramped little room but they had great stuff for sale.
Memorably inspiring. To every person going through tough times, think about this: when the young Abraham Lincoln faced his trials and demons, he almost certainly faced them head on and did his best under God. Never would he have guessed that one day, people from all over the world would assemble at the foot of his statue in honor of his memory. Wonderful memorial. Wonderful man.
Come in the early morning when the rising sun shines on the memorial and turns it golden. This is the best time for photography when the light is magical. You can also shoot it from the reflecting pool which reflects the memorial. For the rest of the day, it is packed with visitors.
Wow! The Lincoln statue is so impressive. Its really big and the building is impressive too. You should visit this!!
I love this place because this place is full of history that you can actually see, touch and reminisce and imagine. This place is better then history books and a history class. You can actually walk right through your history. All the monuments are awesome. The land and location is clean and beautiful. If you never been you MUST go.

We came here for the National Sunrise Service on Easter Sunday. WOW!!! I recommend putting it on your bucket list. I'm not sure if any members of Congress were there, but I would vote to make it a requirement. The memorial is beautiful and so very well maintained considering it is open 24/7 year-round. Sitting on the steps and looking at DC is a great treat.
Prepare yourself for a long walk, take something to drink with you, it will be a long walking day. great view from the upper part of the monument, continuing down a cross the water direction the second world war monument, yesterday there are some live music show right next to the water front.. enjoy your time over there
Absolutely stunning at night! We visited late on a Saturday night and it was empty . Much better experience than when we went again on Sunday afternoon. The views are great either way though.
Very beautiful. It's really neat to go and stand where so many have stood before you. Where many great speeches were given, scenes from movies filmed & most importantly, a great honorable tribute to one of greatest presidents, Mr. Honest Abe himself. You'll enjoy it! Go!
The reflection pool is incredibly dirty. It is a shame that it has been let go and is not the same as that used to be. We do love DC though that's why I gave it two stars instead of one. Nonetheless our nation's capital is beautiful even if the reflection pool is dirty. God Bless America!
A must visit when in the DC area. Bring a good comfortable pair of shoes because there is a lot of sight seeing in the general area. This place has a piece of history all around it. There is no cost to visit this place. There are many things to do surrounding the Monument. This place is a huge tourist attraction so be prepared to bump into many people.
Loved this place! Great for a little family escapade. Saw this place in 3 days it's a lot of walking. Bring comfy shoes ❤
An American tribute to one of our nation's greatest presidents. It's very cool to read his words from the Gettysburg Address and the second inaugural address, plus some other speeches downstairs. A great feature of the National Mall!
Wonderful tribute to President Lincoln! Although it was pretty crowded when we went (noon), I was still able to enjoy the memorial and get some good pictures in. If you want to enjoy it to yourself or feel less crowded, visiting early in the morning or later in the evening would be your best bet. There is even a little bookstore/gift shop upstairs with gifts for just about everyone at reasonable prices. A definite must see when in DC!
Lovely place to hangout for a few. The view of the reflecting pool is awesome. The pool reflects the Washington monument here! The name of the 50 States on the top are so beautifully written. Sunset is a great time to capture some beautiful photos. Night time views are also very brightly lit. The statue of Lincoln is magnanimous !
What can I say, it's the Lincoln Memorial. It's awesome. I wish more of the other visitors were respectful to the site. Please don't let your children slide down the marble staircase like a slide. It's not cute or funny. This seems to be a popular place at sunset. I guess people are waiting for the lights to come on at the Washington monument? The stairway into the site was almost completely blocked by people sitting and waiting. If it weren't for all the people, it would be a beautiful place to watch the sunset.
Powerful and stunning. I wish there were more information about the artists who made this monument possible. The addition of the small exhibit below is a great addition. Good access for wheels(strollers, knee scooters, wheelchairs) and marked fairly well. Bookstore is not accessible unless no one is in the bookstore.
Beautiful memorial but very crowded. Sunset pictures are lovely. Free. Highly recommended visiting. Gets a little less crowded after sunset.
This monument is significantly larger than I expected. Loved the murals, size, and free (although small) museum on the site. Great place to start a big DC walk-around tour.
I felt so much pride for our great Nation and inspired leaders of the past. Our current leaders are only a reflection of us as a people. If our leaders lack morals, honor, and dignity it means that "we the people" lack the same in general.
A real highlight of my recent trip to Washington DC. I definitely will visit again. I also walked back by the WW II Memorial and walked over to the Jefferson Memorial. All are excellent! I can only imagine how spectacular they would look at night.
What can you say? As an American citizen living today you walk into this place and read the walls and see the large figure of Lincoln... I am just left speechless and awed every time I visit... I hope our foreign visitors feel the same way...
What a very sacred and reverent place to be. The sunrise in the morning is beautiful and peaceful, highly recommend going early or at night. I’m not a very patriotic person, but being here helped me be more appreciative of this great country and the impact President Lincoln had on this nation.
I remember as I stood inside the memorial thinking about how many movies I've seen where this awesome statue of Lincoln just blew up or went under water. It was such a Wow moment to be there in person and to be able to experience this amazing piece of history in person. To turn around and look at the reflective pool and Needle monument was just awesome.
A MUST Visit when in Washington,DC Try to visit at night if you can, the view is Amazing and it has a different feel about it! There is a ramp for those who cannot climb stairs & Don’t forget to take the elevator to the bottom floor for information on how the Memorial was built & other interesting info. The reflecting pool is beautiful at night & is very popular for photo ops. During the day they have a snack stand not far away that is open as well. The tree lined path way on either side of the reflecting pool is a nice walk to the WWII MEMORIAL as well.
Prepare yourself for a long walk, take something to drink with you, it will be a long walking day. great view from the upper part of the monument, continuing down a cross the water direction the second world war monument, yesterday there are some live music show right next to the water front.. enjoy your time over there
Honest Abe would without a doubt be proud... of the air conditioned gift shop! Honestly if you're going to come here you can see the big statue or whatever but who cares when the air conditioned basement is the best in our nation's capital.
This monument is extraordinary. Visitors must climb several flights of stairs for entry (handrails are available for the steepest portions), but they will be well rewarded in a short time. As lovely as it is during the day with the rush and excitement of crowds, it is even better at night because the lighting is beautiful and its impact is magnified in the quietness. It is always a pleasure visiting this place.
As striking or more so than the pictures you have seen of it. Also, make sure to visit the little museum that is in a fairly obscure location at the base of the stairs on the right as you face the mall and the Washington Monument. It presents provocative yet balanced information regarding Lincoln's conflicted and complicated spirit, personality, and legacy. You could easily miss it if you weren't paying attention or haven't been told about it. I had never heard mention of it before happening upon it by chance with a friend after visiting the monument.

The Lincoln Memorial is one of my favorite monuments in D.C. President Lincoln was one of the greatest presidents in U.S. history, and it is fabulous to see his accomplishments being celebrated through scriptures on the walls. I wish the gift shop at the Lincoln Memorial were larger; the shop was tiny and cramped. Also, if you go behind the Lincoln Memorial, you can see the skyline of Arlington, which is beautiful.
Inspiring as ever. I've been to this memorial a couple of times now and still feel the historical nature of what I'm witnessing. I've found the best way to visit is on one of the tour buses that allow you to get off and back on at your own liesure rather than a 100% guided tour. Parking can be challenging and I've driven in many cities and this is typical of most. Not much time to think about where you want to go. You just get in traffic and go, so you may miss things as the driver. The buses bypass all of that inconvenience.
Wonderful tribute to an amazing American president. The monument is easy to get to and large enough to accommodate the crowds it draws. Free and open to the public, like most things on the National Mall. There is a small gift shop inside the structure and to the right side of the entrance. I never saw it the first week times I visited (Lincoln is very impressive). There is a public restroom and small penny museum at the base of the structure (left side of the staircase outside).
This place you must visit when you're around. It's a really important landmark, like all the others around here in DC and it's even more inspirational and breathtaking than you would imagine. Also it's shown in lots of movies and you can say you saw the memorial irl
The most visited memorial in the national mall in Washington DC. Visited in January amid the snowstorm and even in the sub zero temperature there are lots of people at the memorial. It was breathtaking. America's 16th President and maybe the favourite. He abolished slavery. Very nicely kept even in the government shutdown and in the snow storm . From the top of the memorial, the reflecting pool and the Washington monument looks spectacular. Heard it will be even better at night which we didn't get to see sadly due to our short stay in DC. One of my treasured trip.
Yes, it’s just a statue but it’s Abraham Lincoln!!. The walk up to the memorial is beautiful and the writings on the inside of the building are very insightful. This man had a great vision for the country back in the day. The speeches he made at pivotal moments in thrust country’s history are very inspirational. Would highly recommend the visit.
What could I say... The Lincoln Memorial is magnificent! It is amazing to see one of our greatest presidents in history. If your at the top of the stairs you can get an amazing view of the Washington Monument and the reflecting pool. If your ever in DC this is just a place yky are required to go!
I loved this memorial. Always wanted to go here and i wasn't disappointed. During the day there are lots of other tourists so its hard to get a picture without lots of people in the background. It is open 24 hours a day and has a small gift shop and a bathroom. If you cant walk up all those steps you can walk up the ramp. I'd recommend going at night because the place is beautiful and gives you a good view of the Washington monument. You'd expect the place to be empty at night but even at 1 am the place is buzzing with life and sets a nice atmosphere.

My favorite memorial and it's not even close. Stunning place to visit. So much historical significance once you realize all that has happened there and that's not even paying attention to the man sitting at the top.
Free to visit. The size is much larger than you would expect. Obviously, plenty of people will obscure some views but it is a national monument. It feels like a holy space; sacred even. There is a small gift shop, I wonder what the purpose of that area was before it became a gift shop.
So much symbolism in this monument. One fist is closed to show that he was firm and set to preserve the union, and one hand is open to show he reached for peace and harmony with our fellow man. The reeds bound to his chair represent the strength of unity. One Reed cannot bear weight, but many bound together hold this mighty man. This is a must see if you ever go to D.C.
This is one of the most beautiful historical monuments I have ever seen in my life! I have to say that walking up to it was an effort because of all the stairs but it was so worth it to get at the top. I love how it is set up with the words of Lincoln and I have to say that it brought tears to my eyes. I love this monument and I love the beauty of it you can see the whole city of Washington from it and also the Potomac. It is a very peaceful and wonderful family place and it is very well done!
The architecture of the Lincoln Memorial is above and beyond what you would expect. The best place to take photos of behind the reflecting pool and in front of the building itself. This memorial represents a very important part of history that we must never forget.
Beautiful experience. I'm a DC native and I still love coming here. The fireworks from here are amazing. The statue is really a piece of art.
A must visit monument for kids. Visited last weekend part of my 1 day hop on hop off tour and got down to visit inside. It’s informative and gives good picture of Lincoln’s contribution in American history. From here you can see Washington Monument’s image in water and also Capitol building side by side to monument. A scenic place to take pictures.
A must see when you go to Washington DC such a beautiful place to visit. It is very beautiful, built out of marble!! :)
Absolutely my favorite spot in DC. The view from Lincoln to the Washington Monument is the best ..in terms of symmetry with water, trees, shadows and reflections. Even the WWII memorial is distributed equally so as not to disrupt the balance. While you are here, do not miss Korean war memorial and Vietnam war Memorial that are nearby.
The Lincoln Memorial is iconic. It is very beautiful, built out of marble in a classical pantheon-like style. There have been many protests in front of it. If you happen to be in DC for a trip or a weekend, definitely stop by. You won’t regret it.
The view from the Lincoln Memorial is breath taken. You get a great view of the Monument. It is also where Martin Luther King delivered" I Have A Dream" speech. I would suggest going in the evening. D.C after dark is spectacular
Nice place. Only thing is ....once it is hot you literally can die by the feet of that statue of Lincoln. Temperature gradually raises at places where there is nothing but stone or tiles on the ground. I would make it more green around.
Astounding! Would have been even better if there weren't so many people. Probably better to visit during non peak hours. Also it's better to visit at night than during the day. Inside the memorial during the day it's really too dark to read the inscriptions that are on the wall. Monument is towering
Not only is the statue magnificent, but the steps leading up to it are grand and a nice place to sit. Stop for a moment and take in the amazing view of the National Mall. Be sure to take the time to read the walls in the monument and gain a broader understanding of our American heritage. This is a great place to honor our Founding Fathers and appreciate our blessed country.
4 years ago there was barely any people, I come 2019 and it's absolutely packed. You can't go anywhere without getting into someones photo. Still, a great monument and you have to see it if your in D.C.
We visited in the night which was a good choice. We could see Lincoln Memorial, Washington Memorial and the Capitol Hill to be in the same line. It was a wonderful sight to see. While getting the car parked is a major challenge, it is worth going in the night. Quite a relaxing place to be in the late evenings. I don’t know how many times I’ve been to the Lincoln memorial but it always gives me pleasure to walk up the stairs and gaze at this magnificent statue of one of our greatest presidents.
Very big very impressive. Nice little shop. Amazing views of the mall and a definite landmark to visit when in Washington and completely free. Might be busy at times but hey your in the capital of the USA what would you expect.
First time I every been, I went with the loretto High School band, they got the honor in Marching Memorial parade. It was amazing. I cried when I was Lincoln Memorial,I only saw it in books and movies. Seeing it in person ,wow. Still haven't seen everything. One day I'll visit n stay longer
This place is good for educational tour and learn about US history. Its an interesting place. But its crowded too. We came early to take good pictures. Its well maintained too. Has guards around. The view across the pond is breathtaking especially when the cherry blossoms peak season. One place of history that one can enjoy. Well recommended. Worth the kong drive trip and traffic in DC.
What a great place. Buried mom @ Arlington and toured the Capital area. Couldn't believe all the variety of food trucks to feed the masses. A great idea. We saw the beginning of the Cherry blossoms.
Abraham Lincoln, sits quietly on his throne as millions of people throughout our history come see how we honor him at this beautiful stone monument. This place is massive on every level. Just the steps to the monument alone give rise the greatness of this American President. Whether you roam the perimeter of this massive structure, walk its inside, eat on the stairs or ponder Lincoln's posture gleaming over the river, you will be mesmerized as to the giant this man was in American history. He freed more than the slaves. He freed the minds of everyone who thought rationally and helped join millions of people in stride for hope, that our nation might grow together, as equal human beings. Take pictures with the kids. Also, explain why this monument is so important to the person sitting in the chair!
The Lincoln Memorial is a must see among all the monuments. Make sure you make the trek all the way to the top as the inside walls have his famous speech inscribed. When you are finished you can also go down the steps and in the left side is an entrance to the museum which is under the monument. The small museum goes over a brief history. There are also bathrooms in the museum as well as a gift shop.
Monumental! (See what I did there ;). Don't forget to check out the museum downstairs on the left side of the stairs. It's amazing and well hidden. There's also an elevator to the top for those who need it or have a hard time with stairs.
It was crowded during the day, and the steps reminded me of the rocky movie scene when he is training, but even after walking around for miles it was absolutely worth the climb. Great monument. The ceiling could use a little fixing up inside for longevity.
A must see! I loved standing in the very spot that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Stood as he gave the I have a dream speech! I love that the memorial is open late at night to allow visitors opportunities to visit and get great photos and review history on a personal level!
Inspiring what one man can accomplish despite his surrounding environment. All people should invest the time to look into this man's life and be influencers for the better good of humanity
A must see when you visit Washington DC, this solemn monument is amazing and inspiring. He gave his life for the ideology that we are all equal. The foundation of this amazing country. A true Patriot to the foundation of our great nation. Amazing!
Amazing view of the Lincoln Memorial. Lincoln is one of the greatest presidents who experience the division of the United States and did not get to live to see his dreams of a reuniting America. To see it in real life is a great experience and recommend everyone come and visit too!!!
A must see when in Washington. Such an impressive monument. My 9 year old loves Abraham Lincoln and has been wanting to see this monument for years. He thoroughly enjoyed it and was the highlight of his trip. Go early to avoid the crowds. We were there at 8, and pretty much had the place to ourselves. As we were leaving though, the groups started crowding in, and it was much harder to get a picture and enjoy the monument.
A MUST Visit when in Washington,DC Try to visit at night if you can, the view is Amazing and it has a different feel about it! The tree lined path way on either side of the reflecting pool is a nice walk to the WWII MEMORIAL as well.
A great tribute to a great President. We sat on the steps and looked out at the national mall over the reflecting pond. Definitely a relaxing way to spend time. One of the most patriotic spots in America.
I love this place! It really is like in movies with these impeccable reflection of the water. The place can be packed during the day but it is worth it. Night time is also a different feel, you have to check it out this place. I also went for a quick run at sunrise and gosh, the views! There were not barely anyone around and it was majestic. A side note, there is a small open bathroom at the base.
It was Awesome! Our first time there. We really enjoyed everything we saw! Can't wait to bring the other Grandkids!
It's so beautiful and well maintained. I guess the best time to visit DC is in September when the weather isn't to balmy. Do walk around the city at night, some unexpected views just around the corner
Amazing. A vast space with the freedom to view the Memorial from all angles. Beautiful views from atop The steps.
I love visiting here. Always makes me cry. It's very moving to think it really hasn't been that long ago that this history happened. My grandfather is 97 this year (2019), so it more relevant to me to think in a couple of lifetimes ago.
Great place and great tribute to Lincoln. It’s free to walk around, safe, and clean so i don’t see how anybody can complain. There are even people who sell water bottles for 1$ and close to Lincoln’s statue you can even buy coffee
Awe Inspiring. So moving. It feels like you are in the thrown of heaven almost! Go at night if you can. The lighting and view are spectacular. The quotes on the walls of the memorial on the inside are written by Lincoln himself. The entire memorial is breathtaking and the statue of Lincoln is so realistic. It is a reminder of what this country was and could still be, a place of peace, a leader who made a difference towards making all of us free, even at a great cost. This is the most inspiring memorial I have ever seen. You will need to park on the streets surrounding the memorial, there is no parking lot nearby, but it is well worth the walk. You can see the entire mall, the reflecting pool, the George Washington Monument and the Capitol building all from the top steps of the Lincoln memorial. Breathtaking. You can't help but feel this nation was ordained by God Himself when you visit this memorial.
Beautiful experience. I'm a DC native and I still love coming here. The fireworks from here are amazing. The statue is really a piece of art.
Great environment. Happy tourists. Kept clean. The Guest Service souvenirs had good prices on little gifts to share.
Clearly a must see in DC. The Lincoln Memorial itself is magnificent, and it also comes with an incredible view of the reflecting pool and Washington monument. I've seen it in daylight and also at night - if I had to choose, night would be best. The statue is wonderfully lit, the chamber is beautiful with the light and shadows, and the monument in the reflecting pool at night is beautiful. There is a handicap ramp and an elevator, so anyone get up to the chamber to see President Lincoln. The first time I visited I didn't realize there was an inside room with quotes and pictures of famous events throughout the history of the monument - from building it to the 'I have a dream' by Dr. King on the steps of the monument. Definitely worth a stop.
Getting to see this in person is humbling. It instills a wonder and curiosity for the history surrounding the man himself. It's definitely not as huge as they make it out to be in the movies though lol.
Beautiful monument to President Lincoln. Gettysburg address and his second inaugural address with beautiful murals, as well as his statue are inside the memorial. Great view of the Washington Monument and the Capitol from there too.
Its an awesome place of great proportions. A true hallmark and place that represents patriotism, love of freedom and country. My wife and I were here when we attended the 1997 Igorot International Consultation in Virginia State. Truly historic. We were toured by my in-Law who was then with the US Army.
Impressive monument for a great leader. I enjoyed reading his speeches engraved on the walls. One corner of the memorial also offers a great view of Washington monument, The Capitol, and the Jefferson Memorial. I could mentally visualise the speech of Martin Luther King from this great monument. A great experience for any visitor.
The memorial of Abraham Lincoln is always a pleasure to see. His statue imposing and majestic. The words of wisdom and alacrity give great profoundness to the monument.
If you are in Washington you need to check out this memorial. Would recommend getting there early prior to visiting other museums (which don't open till after 10.30am). This way you avoid all the tour groups, less people and can enjoy the ambiance and grand scales that this memorial is as well as taking it in while quieter, rather than bustling tourists everywhere.
The Lincoln memorial was built between 1914 and 1922. It is a monument built of course in honor of President Abraham Lincoln but has also become one of the most iconic monuments in the United States. The Architect is Henry Bacon, the statue designed by Daniel Chester French and the main Lincoln statue was carved by the Piccirilli brothers. Since its erection it has been the gathering place of many groups demanding change including the famous 1963 march on Washington. There Martin Luther King Jr gave his famous "I have a dream" speech. If you are lucky a vocalist might sing the Star Spangled Banner or Amazing Grace in the Lincoln Memorial Interior which has great acoustics.
It’s an awesome historical monument! Accessibility friendly, with an elevator, instead of going up the 58 steps. I would recommend going at night, because it is all lit up and beautiful to look at. On the walls to the left and to the right of the statue of Lincoln sitting there are two of his speeches. You can also take a beautiful picture of the reflection of the Washington monument, reflecting off of the water that Forrest Gump ran on while screaming “Jenny!” This is a must see in Washington DC!!
This is my favorite!! There are bathrooms in this location as well as an elevator for those who can’t climb the steps. Once up, you can enjoy the great view of the reflective pool. The Lincoln Memorial is so impressive and beautiful. A must see!!
A quick overnight stop to visit a step kid at college. The Lincoln Memorial is so much bigger in person than I was expecting. We checked out several other memorials in the same area. And even on a Saturday morning there was parking and the price wasn't as bad as I would have expected.
Perfect place to rest your legs and take in one of the most awe inspiring monuments in the city. Good photo opportunities of the mall from this location as well. Highly recommend seeing it at night or sunset.
Everyone loves the Lincoln memorial. It's a bit of a walk from the Smithsonian metro station but we'll worth it. Enjoy!
Wish I had better pics,. This is jaw dropping . You've seen it in the movies. It does not convey the magnitude of this memorial. Words can't describe the Sense of humbleness this monument instills
One of the main touristic sites in Washington DC, this giant statue is as impressive as it gets. Depicted in numerous movies such as Planet of the Apes among others, this is one of the most iconic representations of the power of the American president and the American country itself. This very impressive and massive statue is a must see.
I will definitely be going back. Such a beautiful place to visit. It's kids friendly and free of charge. The parking is not expensive either. My family and I really enjoyed our time there.
A true reflection of the greatness that President Lincoln brought into the United States of America. The National Monument, statue of Lincoln, the exact markings of Martin Luther King's 'I Had a Dream' speech and the inscriptions on the walls simply show the powerful impact these figures had on not just the US, but the world. Whilst you are here, there are so many amazing photo opportunities which you cannot miss.
Great place to see the Gettysburg Address and the large scale of Lincoln. That is also the place where MLK did his famous "I have a dream" speech. Around the area you can find many other famous monuments such as the Washington memorial and there are many food eateries in case you ever get hungry while touring.
Fitting tribute to a former president. As we're walking up to it, we got this amazing sense of wonder and awe. I have been here before, but every time, it always feels like the first time. The larger than life statue looks even better in person than it does in photos. Seeing his speech on the walls is not something you can explain. You have to see it for yourself. The only downside here is it was SUPER crowded. My guess is that this is probably the most popular of the monuments at the mall.
An awesome tribute to a stunning American president. Dazzling spot to home base for a couple. The perspective on the reflecting pool is marvelous. The pool mirrors the Washington landmark here! The name of the 50 States on the top are so wonderfully composed. Nightfall is an incredible time to catch some wonderful photographs. There is an open bathroom and little penny exhibition hall at the base of the structure left the side of the staircase outside.
Did the night tour USA guided Tours did a great job. Had a great group everyone got back to bus on time. Guides were great called themselves Batman and Robin.
Beautiful and moving! The photos we all see just don't do it justice! It was worth the trip to DC to experience it!!
Always incredible to visit. My only disappointment is when people sit on the monument and eat food. I think people should have a little respect for what the monument represents. Eat your food somewhere else, not in the stones of the monument, I believe it is very disrespectful.
100% worth visiting! I don’t know how you could go to DC and not stop in on this Memorial. It’s not only iconic, but so humbling to pay respect to such an important and influential past president.
As far as monuments dedicated to Abraham Lincoln on the National Mall go, this us the best one by far. Seriously, though, it is never a bad experience to take in the beauty of this temple devoted to the Great Emancipator. On a funny note, I bought a bottle of water from a kid on the bottom steps of the memorial. Another man was looking to get some water, too, but the kid didn't have change for the man's $5 bill. Of all the places to not accept a five!
If you have never felt small before, visiting here might bring that to life. It is huge. Magnificent to see and marvel at size . Watching the people standing around was almost as fascinating. They had such a tiny Visitors Center for a massive structure. Good job D.C.
What can u not like about Lincoln memorial. Wet your feet, drive an electric bike, take amazing photographs. Witness history. Uber comes to parking lot, lots of restrooms. Kids have fun. Love and will visit again and again.
Dc was great just go not during the hot summer. Really had a great time, allot of free museums! Go ride the FREE red electric bus to all the sites!
Abraham Lincoln wasn't small but the dimension they gave this Memorial is impressive. You can feel the power of this man and the proclamations he made to assure the Americans a more united nation. Visible from miles away, you cannot miss it while on the National Mall.
Very cool place to see. Lincoln watching over the Capitol. The place where Martin Luther King Jr. Gave his famous speech.
Honest Abe would without a doubt be proud... of the air conditioned gift shop! Honestly if you're going to come here you can see the big statue or whatever but who cares when the air conditioned basement is the best in our nation's capital.
A must see if you visit DC. I was in absolute Awe when I walked up the stairs to this phenomenal memorial. It is really an experience you can't explain and need to see and feel for yourself. You won't regret it.
Wow... So amazing!!! Movies and TV shows don't do this place justice. It was truly a dream come true to see it. I strongly urge anyone who can to come to DC and see this amazing piece of history.
We visited the monument during a short business trip to DC. We loved our visit at the mall and the Lincoln Memorial was definitely one of the highlights. It is far bigger than I imagined and the memorial itself is rather simple. Just a statue of Abraham Lincoln with a few quotes on the walls. This is a must see if you're visiting DC!
A well built and constructed memorial indeed very befitting. The atmosphere is quite and serene. it a nice spot to relax and gather ones thoughts. its also family friendly
Still one of the most awe-inspiring memorials I've ever been to. The statue is surprisingly much larger in person than it is in photos.being able to sit on the steps of the Lincoln memorial and review the reflecting pool, the Washington monument, and the capital in the distance, and all of the memorials from our wars all in the same place is very very cool. This is a must-see on any tour list.
