Such a beautiful nook in this corner of MD. Well worth a visit back in time, to see it in the present, and support Cumberlands future!

April Denning

It was very small and simple but the audio story was informative.

Wish it was open but seems like the whole town is sort of struggling. There is an audio presentation you can listen to along with the Fort Cumberland trail markers.

It is a very quaint building on a small patch of land. If you blink, you might miss it. Nothing extravagant, but it is worth a visit to learn a little bit of history about one of our Founding Fathers.

Very small place but amazing to see a headquarters of our 1st president during the war. Unfortunatly, Cumberland has fallen under hard times. Many shops are closed and the town looks very tired.

The George Washington Headquarters is an interesting stop along the Cumberland trail. There is a fair amount of information along the way. The headquarters themsleves are rather small and you can't go inside to see what it may have been like to live back then and I couldn't get the audio to work to explain his story, though it worked a bit for someone else when I'd gone on to see another part of the trail. It's worth stopping as you walk the trail through the history of Cumberland and learn about the C&O canal and trains, the role Cumberland played in history and just get some excercise while taking in some beautiful and intersting sites and knowlwdge.

A humble place of American History the cozy quarters of our first elected president. Stop by but don't be surprised if he's not home.

Kevin Beachy

This is the house George Washington stayed in when in Cumberland, although it has been moved from its original location. It is a very small cabin with a few interesting displays inside. It's only open on special occasions or by appointment, but there are plaques in the area explaining the history.

Paul Dietz

Very educational!

This is a quaint little replica of a one room headquarters that George Washington used. True to the period. There is a push button activated voice reel that will tell you the history of the the place. The flowers in the gardens around the headquarters are maintained by the Cumberland garden club.

Jonathan Mawdsley

Fascinating look at the quarters occupied by George Washington while he was stationed here. The building has been lovingly restored and there are beautiful gardens surrounding it. The cabin itself was locked when we stopped by, but you could look through the windows to see the displays inside. Worth a visit if you are in town.

An interesting look into the history of the area. While it was not open it was fun. No parking location around the house, but easily walkable from the city parking across the river.
