Wolfe’s Neck is such a lovely state park. There aren’t many facilities like camping or amenities such as organized tours at this park which helps it, I think, to keep a feeling of being authentically wild and serene. Though there are nicely maintained pathways and of course signage, it is a maintained state park. But I guess what I’m trying to say is that if you want to feel like you’re really experiencing the land here, you can. The couple who bought the property and gifted it to the state, mandated that it would always be the way it is and would stay pristine. That shows! I really loved my visit and wish I could have stayed all day.

Tracy G Maine

Another great place to bring your pooch on leash. Beautiful Maine coast.

WJ Hill

Really enjoyed our visit, and the cleats provided FOC were welcome for the snow. The ice flows on the sea at Casco bay were interesting. The forest was still and relaxing.

I don't know too much about Wolf's Neck state park. I found out about it through family. It's a really good place to go steamer clamming. There is a fair amount of picnic tables and a couple of wooden canopies to have a picnic with family and friends. There are hiking trails and views of the tidal waters. A nice place to enjoy and relax.

Rebecca Gulotta

Highly recommend this park and the fantastic ‘Secrets of the Shore’ tour lead by one of the park rangers. It was a highlight of our trip to Maine, be sure to check it out!

Great walk, not flat, many steps beautiful view.

Dave Kaminsky

Beautiful park with excellent family trails, plenty of rocky beach exploration, and flora and fauna.

Sam Keske

Great spot to see ospreys, hike on rocky trails, and stop for a beach side picnic. Cooler and breezier than inland, with plenty of shade. Neat activities that vary with the seasons. Not a bad drive from Portland, and much closer than bigger parks. Worth the trip.

amber lackey

Easy access for all. Not a hard walk at all

Danielle Clark

Pretty cool area for exploring and going on a relaxing walk. Great for dogs in my opinion... Beautiful ocean views and lots of room for parking

anne schaepers

Great place to walk. You can see ospreys in nest.

Josh Lapointe

A beautiful place to explore, trails along the shore line and through the woods, not to long or steep.

Andrew M. Robitaille

A great place for kids and families, this is an easy hike, walk or bike along their groomed walking trails. There is some pristine old growth forest in the Wolfs Neck State Park, and the farm is a great source for local produce. Wheelchair accessible, bathrooms, horshoes and more!

Paul Bybee

Easy hike to see osprey

Ryan Nelson

This is a wonderful gem of the Maine State Park system. This is not a large park, but the trails are very scenic and well-maintained. Look for the osprey nest on an island just off the coast. And in the spring, there are many lady slipper orchids that grow throughout the park.

Eva-Lynn Podietz

So close to civilization and yet so serene. Great for walking my small dog. the smell of the salt sea air was wonderful. inexpensive (out of state)fee to use a wonderful resource

Arnold Smith

very nice views slightly crowded. they have showers and mini restaurant

Jeremy Grady

Good hiking destination. Trails need maintenance. One of the plank bridges broke as we walked across it. Lots of roots to trip on so watch your step. Colored markers on the paths would help with finding your way out.

Amazing trails along the ocean.

Kristy Wales

michal gal malikin

Great views

Jackie Levinson

great little park with informational signage about the ecosystem. Loved it!

Kate Janszen

Great place to take the kids on an easy hike/walk. Flat, cleared trails. Lots of information boards about the wildlife and ecosystem. Tons of picnic tables and a covered picnic shelter. Bathrooms were clean. Makes for a fun afternoon!

Greg L

Not very good for cross country skiing. Only the widest trails are easily navigable, and they aren't long enough to warrant getting the skis out for. Snowshoeing looked fun. And hiking was nice. The coast walk was beautiful and a fun time was had by all (even if we carried the skis!).

Philip Famiano

A great place to explore whether you have all day or just an hour.

Nick Czerula

Great ocean front park!

jody arno

Great place to visit by your self or with your family

Mike Vecc

We love this park for a gentle walk with great scenery. Good for families. The road driving in is rough. Be prepared for a bumpy ride.

rachael simmons

Absolutely beautiful here. Nice trails. Love how you come out to the ocean on certain parts of the trail. I love how there is also a power line trail. Maps are provided. I am going back to finish the cobble stone trail. The fee here is worth it. Very reasonable. Clean restrooms and love the field to play outdoor games.

bradford hanson

Great place to relax and get away from it all!

Michael S

Just an awesome off the beaten path place to hang out anytime during the year! Open year-round with hiking trails and beautiful spectacular views of upper Casco Bay. Come hike the trails with a loved one or just the solitude of a walk in the woods! Love this place!!!

Great place to hold a family reunion. So many things to see. Great covered area and field nearby along with restrooms.

June Rhodes

Beautiful place. Must be able to walk over rough terrain.

Michael Bloom

The park itself is very pretty and great views are to be found, the only thing I would say negative about the place is the entrance cost. It was something like $6 per adult and $4 per child (0-18). Seems a little steep based on the park itself.

Christopher Douglas

Easy to find from downtown Freeport with clear road signage. Fee access, like most state parks, with ample parking. Full facilities including handicapped facilities and trails.Miles of trails with good signage and maps. Easy water view access, some handicapped accessible and some not.

Joel Ledford

A great place to be alone with the earth, and experience a small ecosystem in beautiful balance. Herons, gulls, ospreys, and a wealth of marine life. Wonderful harmony of nature!

Valentine Wauthier

Beautiful park with a side on the shore. We did the longest trail and it took us about 2 hours. Beautiful in the fall.

Roger Simmons

It's been a few years since I last visited and my first visit in the winter. With the extensive trail system you can avoid the crowds on the casco bay trail or not, your choice. Plenty of dogs some of which are on leash. We had a great time in the 2 hour visit.

Kari Guddeck

Nice trails along Casco Bay coastline. Some accessible trails, picnic areas, and running water bathrooms during the peak season.

MustafaSellsCars

I have heard a lot about Wolfe's Neck Woods State Park as really spectacular. Five minute drive from the center of Freeport's bustling shopping district, and as visitors approach the park, marshes and open fields provide a tranquil transformation back to nature. In 1969, this area of more than 200 acres was given to the State by Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence M.C. Smith of Freeport. The park contains varied ecosystems, including climax white pine and hemlock forests, a salt marsh estuary, and the rocky shorelines on Casco Bays and the Harraseeket River. Karla Schrader

Quaint park full of nature trails. Mudflats were really cool. Just a short visit, but would love to come back.

Great beginner or social hiking. First time in Maine and first time at this park. If I lived closer I would come again.

One of my favorite places for a beautiful easy hike. There are lots of trails that are well marked. Lots of ocean views, the trails are open and wide, there is a large field and picnic area to play in, plus the bathroom facilities are a huge bonus.

Laurie Forster

Beautiful scenery and a true treasure

Alecia Wenslow

I feel that any park that offers handicap accessible trails deserves 5 stars for being available to anyone looking to enjoy nature. The views of the water are gorgeous and the park and trails are taken care of. There are plenty of areas for picnics or just sitting and relaxing.

Joe Schmidt

Great hike and great view!

Nice views but trails have obstacles in them. Be careful where you step.

Robert Nielsen

Beautiful and lots to do.

Roxann Tyger

Cute park but like every park we've visited in Maine, there was a fee to enter. Cost $24 for 4 of us and was only about an hour of walking. Nice views of the bay.

Mark Rafferty

Beautiful, clean and very well kept. Such a scenic piece if Maine's coastline.

M Parmelee

Very much enjoyed the trails and the company!

I really enjoyed visiting wolf neck woods. It was quiet, scenic and had a variety of different areas to explore. Whether it was walking in the woods, along the rocks, or on the beaches, the park was fantastic. I was also pleasantly surprised to see the informational signs. Definitely a great place for a field trip. Also, the large covered picnic area is excellent for groups. Finally, it was super cool to watch the ospreys.

Jan Mulherin

Chelsea Cruz

It was an easy trail with different heights. Beautiful scenery

Christopher Clayton

This is a great state park for a quick hike with small children or dogs. Ospreys nest here and can be regularly seen. There is plenty of rock covered Maine coastline to explore. Always know the tides, this is salt marsh and dogs and kids get amazingly dirty.

One of my favorite places. The trails are gorgeous. Beautiful ocean views and so much fun to watch the osprey.

Katelen Walsh

Beautiful views of the water. Felt like being in an enchanted forest!

Hector Contreras

It is truly a gift to have our State Parks. We support them by visiting and respecting them by caring. This place is magical. We were there at the end of the season and had the park pretty much to our selves. It is great therapy for the mind and body. Hector & Robert Jersey City, NJ

christie sillars

Beautiful...saw Osprey parents feeding their young high up in a tree.

Bob Watson

Great place for a walk and sightseeing

Mollie Goudy

This park is absolutely gorgeous. It has multiple points where you can walk down the rocks to the ocean. During low tide, it has wonderful beaches. Only thing, please make sure you leave the park by 8:30 pm as the gates really do close at 8:30. If you stay after, you force someone to work overtime without pay and possibly lead to a search and rescue mission, so just be very mindful of the time! Overall, the park is amazing and the staff is incredibly friendly.

Adeel Akbar

We had a detour to Boothbay on our way to Acadia and enjoyed our little stop here. The ice cream was good but the quantity served was even better, and there were so many choices for the ice cream. We all loved this place.

Gaius214

B.E.A....utiful. trails were easily navigable. Bathrooms were clean. Bring cash for donation box at main "gate". Maine is just so friggin beautiful this time of year! Note the Freeport outlets are nearby.

Heather Reining

Breathtaking. Beautifully kept.

Deb Swift

Nice trails, osprey reserve

Patrick Millar

Excellent hike, well kept trails, perfect for beginners and older folks like me. Amazing views.

S. Corbin

They had a nice wheelchair accessible path. It was sloped a little in some places, but not terribly extreme. We were able to easily enough push my grandmother's travel chair through the path. It's a beautiful and well maintained path (we traveled along the white pine path).

Nithya Michael Arockiasamy

It is a good place for walking or hiking. It is not a place for camping though. We spent 2 hours here taking good photos and watching birds.

Irene Peaslee

Great place to take kids for some outdoor exercise. Picnic tables and bathrooms!!

Gerhard Laurich

Beautiful state park, young ospreys learning to fly and dive for food was exciting and a great bonus to an already gorgeous landscape.

Abigail Utecht

Great hikes for the doggo and kiddos

Justin McDowell

Super fun hiking with awesome water access.

Diane Brule

Sadly, this used to be my favorite place to bring my 3 year old grandson until just a couple of days ago. While enjoying a beautiful winter walk with him, someone stole my purse and a few other personal belongings out of my truck. Beware, I am not sure how often this happens here. I have reported this to the Freeport Police. Please contact them if you find a black purse with flowers laying around anywhere or in the trash. Thank you!

Julie C

Beautiful park with well marked trails, amazing views of the bay and river.

Liz B.

What a lovely park! Paths are well marked, there's a nice map available at the park entrance. Some of the paths had nice stone sections or bridges over small streams. Very pretty. The coastal trail leads to a gravel beach that had thousands of periwinkle shells. My toddler and I had a great time.
