Maria-Eugenia Delaware

Alexander Wall

A interesting operating trolley museum, tucked in the woods of Maine. Several fully restored trolleys run every hour or so, while there are dozens more to look at and walk through. Very interesting place!

Matthew Levitt

What a wonderful interactive museum. There are a number of old trolleys that you can explore and the trolley ride really tops it off. The best part has to be the volunteers who clearly love every minute they invest into the museum. They made the experience really special for my children during the event. Highly recommend this activity to everyone who visits the area, especially those with children!

Al G

Sam Miceli

A great side trip in Kennebunk, ME. A train ride, store, old buses and trains that are refurbished, in the process or waiting to be refurbished. If you like old nostalgic things, it's the place to go.

Dimitrios Angelis

Awesome museum and worth a visit! Don’t miss this wonderful place where you can ride actual restored trolleys.

Kelly Knight

It's a fun family experience

Tensae Andargachew

very fun place.

MASO

Need at least a half-a-day to explore. Take the trolley ride out and back into the woods. The extensive 'gift shop' is like NOTHING you've ever seen and takes you back to a bygone era when trolleys WERE the public transportation, and nearly every major city had one. The out-buildings are packed full, but may not appeal to little ones. But - there is a playroom in the central building JUST for the kids. Small fee. Clean. Safe. Good to over-cast (non-beach) days.

Evelyn Stanley

Fun to ride and staff very informative and interesting.

Ron Jobel

Always a good time. Life was so simpler back then

This place is awesome. Staff is even better. Thanks guys for a wonderful tour and an awesome time.

Mark Sullivan

Museum presents the history of the street railway, at one time 3rd largest industry in U.S. In restoration shop preserves skills and craftmanship that would otherwise be lost. Also chronicles the history of urban mass transit from its inception in the 1830's to present day. Satellite location in Lowell Massachusetts.

Ken Reasoner

Great Mystery Trip for adult seniors.

Ryan Mcmurray

Very cool to see the different trolley and how they change over the years

Ashlyn Ford

Love this place! I would rate it higher if I could. Staff are always nice, the trolley rides every hour are fun and the mueseum as a whole has something new to discover everytime you go! The restoration barn is always my favorite place to stop by, right now they are working on the Nautilias and one of the volunteers took the time out of his day to explain what was going on, the history of it and what parts they are working on now! Which was so facinating!! This will always be one of my favorite places and I can't wait till I get enough free time to volunteer here!

Meghan Greeley

Great place to visit! We had 4 kids under 5, and everyone had a great time. Took a trolley rude in the woods, explored old trolleys and learned a bit about trolley history. Great picnic table area for lunch with a field for kids to run around. Definitely recommend a visit!

Patrick McLaughlin

Really great to see how people got around buses be came thing.

Bob Pedrick

Interesting

Hans Muench

An amazing collection and a nice ride on the former Atlantic Coastline. Great volunteer work!

Dario Finkel

Awesome volunteers. They are very friendly. I am a member. And I am definitely coming back. This was my second time in 5 days i was up there.

Josh Berger

Really cool place to go if you're in the area. They have hundreds of pieces on display that you can climb in and take a closer look at. The conductors are all very knowledgeable and extremely nice. My only recommendation is that you visit on a nice day when it hasn't rained in a few days. The paths aren't paved and it gets kind of dirty. Other than that, it's fantastic!

Sepioth

Fun place to visit if you are into buses and trains. Staff super friendly and seem always willing to talk and answer questions.

Michael Marleau

If you are a vintage trolley car nut you would rate it a 5.. Otherwise the trolley ride was enjoyable

Bradford Miller

Great trolley ride and museum! But the gift shop T-Shirts and the other products were all right but could use some work.

Thomas Kotovsky

Nice place and informative

Becky Lynch

A gem in Kennebunk. My 2.5 yo enjoyed the trolley rides and climbing on and off trolleys on display. Adults can enjoy the history of public transportation. Volunteers were friendly and informative. They also have themed rides in the fall to a pumpkin patch and ice cream rides in evenings during the summer.

peter winspur

Disappointing. A huge collection which is rapidly becoming beyond what the few volunteers can maintain. Preservation for posterity requires that trolley cars must be housed inside. The 200 or so vehicles here means this is impossible and many are deteriorating rapidly. However the ride along the historic interurban trolley line was great and the commentary good.

J

Great for the kids

An La

Very cool stuff here

Joshua Cramer

Nice history lesson on the trolley system and it's affects on the local community.

Tim libby

Been several times. Great for the family. The pumpkin day was a good time and we all picked one out!

Millie Kenney

The museum is full of information, and it is well-kept. I would give a 5-star rating IF the schedule of events had had been clearer and we had been treated better by the chief conductor the day we went. We arrived just before the last trolley destined for the pumpkin patch. We were told by a friendly volunteer out front to hurry and catch that trolley, so we paid for the pumpkin patch tour and scooted out the back door. We told the conductor we wanted to ride to the pumpkin patch. He just looked at us and sent the trolley on its way. It would have taken us literally 5 seconds to have embarked; we were standing 6 feet from the trolley car. We then asked when the next trolley ride would be; the conductor simply said, "Maybe you can ride the next one." Two more trolleys (empty) left the station while we waited. My wife found a schedule in small print somewhere inside that said the next ride was 3:20 p.m. We waited for that trolley and had a fantastic operator and tour guide. That certainly made the trip much more pleasant. We saw the pumpkin patch but did not get to stop to get a pumpkin. We were very excited about going, since we had met a volunteer in Concord, New Hampshire at the recent train show and heard all about the trolleys. The usual friendly New England way was lost on this man who did not seem to care much for his paying riders. My advice: arrive midday and ask questions until you get a satisfactory response.

Tisha Brennan

Trolley museum was so fun. Took a nice ride, We played lots of really neat game. Some they made an it was cute the fake potty is pricless. Most of all it teaches the kids to share an work together if they choose. Then you get to pick a pumpkin an take wonderful pics in the pumpkin patch. Then we look at the older trolley the kids loved it. More then fair pricing. Plus parking clean restrooms and their also a part where the kids can play inside an they lots of great info on the walls. Good for learning/teaching the kids a bit of history.. #pricelessmoments thanks

Wayne Showalter

Been twenty years between visits but enough improvements were made to make it enjoyable even though it was mid ninties temp.

Terry O'Connor

Great place to spend the day, worth every penny

Denise Mackos

Awesome trolley museum! Big selection of all different trolleys! Would definitely recommend. Staff friendly and knowledgable.

Chris Longenbaker

Excellent trolley museum with a huge collection of trolleys, buses, and transit. There are opportunities to ride a variety of historic trolley cars and see some very unique trolleys. The whole family enjoyed exploring the car barns. Definitely worth the drive and near some beautiful beaches, too!

Rich Emmons

Great collection, running equipment in great shape! Staff is very knowledgeable. Not to be missed if you like the the history of American transportation.

Mr B

We loved to see and touch all the vintage trains. The Trolley ride was fun and informative... Highly recommend

Elisha LaFleche

Great fun

Jacin Halcyon

Absolutely Awesome!! A place of true urban railway history.. clearly demonstrates the need to reintroduce trolleys to our streets.

Stephen Priest

The museum and the gift shop were in good shape and manned by friendly staff. Bathroom, for the men, were clean and wheelchair accessible. The trolley ride was nice. Conductor was friendly and informative. The storage area for the trollies, engines and compartments were in decent shape. Some of the trollies looked beaten up with tools, parts and cleaning supplies left inside. A few were in good condition and a pleasure to tour through. The double decker was of interest to me. A few exhibts you could not board due to the antique condition they were in. I wonder if they are taking to much on, especially that they are adopting old buses as well. A lot of beat up trains, trollies, buses, railroad related vehicles and even buildings dot the landscape of the property. My only disappointment was the area where they are working on refurbishing old trollies was closed. I recommend a visit for the history and young kids will enjoy exploring.

Michelle Lemay

Even got to see my favorite car today. The Montreal #2 Golden Chariot

Scott Linscott

What a fun adventure for my grandsons. We expected to spend maybe an hour or two but had to leave after 3.5 hours only because it was approaching nap time. We could have easily spent the whole day. Great place, great volunteers, awesome history. We bought a family membership because we KNOW we will be back.

Wan

Very nice and informative

Judy Dees

Least favorite.. bunch of rusted out trolleys

David Rogers

If you are a fan of rail travel, or if you have children that are, it is a great place to spend a few hours. It's a nice, low cost, alternative to many of the "wallet draining" options we get pulled into. The museum features a pretty extensive array of trollies, trains and buses from the distant and not-so-distant past. Your admission includes all day access to the collection as well as unlimited rides on actual, vintage trollies from days gone by. The ride is a lovely round trip of about three miles through a wooded property that was once farmland. In addition there are several large storage buildings that the public can peruse at their leisure and a largely volunteer staff that can answer questions about the collection and the history of mass transit. There is a busy restoration shop with an observation gallery that allows the public to see the repair and restoration process in real-time. The Visitor's Center and Gift Shop provide an opportunity for additional education of mass transit as well as a chance to purchase unique, transit related momentos and light snacks/beverages. If you're in the area for the day or need a break from the beach during your week at the coast, the trolley museum is a nice take.

Jenna

Quaint and fun—a perfect family outing, especially for little rail fans! We love riding the open cars and exploring the antique trolleys, trains, and other mass transit vehicles in the barns. The volunteer operators all give a slightly different presentation, and it’s fun to hear each one’s perspective on trolley history (and their embellishments

Shantia Wright-Gray

We are glad that we went. We had only an hour or so and we spent it well and the stories the volunteers shared were great. But we didn't need much more time. Sadly losing ground on upkeep. Not as many trolleys that we could walk and sit in - more decay all around. Stop in and see it while you can.

321angeleyes123

Was a pleasant day with my husband and he remembered his childhood vacations.

Kimberly Button

Such a special experience. Run by passionate volunteers. We go several times a year.

Marc D. Behr

Lots of old trolleys from around the area on display and a few you can take a ride on. Friendly staff and self guided tours of the grounds

Sarah Christine Croman

Interesting place, but it's mostly a graveyard for trolleys. Many are restored, and they do have information and a working trolley ride.

Ken Moulton Jr.

Little bit of history, and a little bit of magic; reliving the good old days. Great people helping out with a great little piece of the past.

LEW Strauss

If you're into transit this is a must stop. We were lucky enough to visit on a Sunday which means we got to ride on a vintage trolley. Volunteers very knowlegable.

Dianne Winchell

Excellent little museum that takes you back in time and history of the beginning of " modern" transportation.

Rob Banks

35 years ago I remember going to this place with my dad. This year I got to bring him and his grandkid to visit. We love the trolley rides, and being from Massachusetts it is really neat to see all of the variants of the mbta apparatus that the trolley museum has there that I have seen in town. Fun place to spend a couple of hours! This is great for all ages as everyone will take something different from their visit. I look forward to checking out the Lowell location when we can.

R Marie

This was probably the best part of our trip. The trolleys in the collection are unique in their design and have been masterfully restored. The ride around on the trolley is a good bit of distance and the guide is very informative about the trolley cars history.

Jonathan Miner

Great heritage railroad and museum!

Christopher Taylor

A gem with a taste of the feel of the early 20th century.

Luca Naccarato

This is the best museum I have a ever been to first of all the the staff couldn’t have been more wonderful the trolley ride was great we got you get to ride up part of the Atlantic coast line on a trolley the driver even let me and my brother sit in the front and he let us ring the bell and toot the horn the rest of the museum was really cool. There’s even a streetcar restoration shop where you can see the trolleys being restored to their former glory. The gift shop was really nice to there was a model streetcar that was pretty rare and me and my brother wanted to buy it but it was to expensive but there’s a sign that says you can negotiate the price so we asked to staff member in the gift shop how much they would sell it for they sold it to us for almost have of what the retail price was the rest of the gift shopwas nice to lots of cool toys and wooden trains for the little ones I totally would recommend this place to anyone. I will definitely come back again 10/10

Jennifer Meyer

The staff here is incredibly kind. Admission includes unlimited troller rides (which are awesomely long, Serene and scenic). Our two year old adored the ride and exploring busses, trains and trolleys galore!

D Kwan

The best part were the volunteers: the trolley operators, the conductors, those at dispatch. They are happy to be there with you, really care about preserving history, and safety and comfort of their passengers on their trolley rides. They were simply wonderful, sweet and so so kind. Thank you for making it such a memorable day for my toddler and I.

Bryan Ward

Great fun for adults as well as the kids.

Tom O'Dell

Wonderful place to visit. Great friendly staff. I promise you won't be disappointed!

richard jutras

nifty little out of the way museum. Some pretty cool old trolleys, trains and buses. Take a ride on the trolley built in 1914, (yes it still works)! Knowledgeable brakeman Scott was full of info.

Leah Woody Whiting

Not to be missed. Weird and anachronistic, but a really cool experience with a chance to learn a lot. Also, you get to ride a trolley through the backwoods of southern Maine...

Janet Leckey

Don't waste your time or money

Evan McSwain

Fun place to learn about trolleys and street cars. The ride in the streetcar is fun too. Its a ride through history.

Dean Splittgerber

Been visiting the Seashore Trolley Museum since 1988. This place is a treasure and a New England institution. Incredible collection and operation. Great staff. Something for everyone.

Chris Remeika

Was a great time. Was cool to see all the old trolleys.

Jason T

Went here as a kid 32 years ago.just went back today with wife for a day out. Wife had fun as much as I did,it was her first time. Excellent place to have a relaxing day out.

Dan Vorosmarty

Quirky interesting museum, especially if you like history and railroads. The trolley ride is fun. The warehouses with the trolleys are cool to explore and you can board most of the trolleys, but at the same time it feels a little disorganized and forgotten.

Debra Vigliotti

Fun and very interesting with great volunteer conductors with lots of information...

Crystal Williams

Nice location but staff lacks professional attitude

Tom S

This is a very interesting place. They have a whole range of trolleys dating back through various decades. Being an expat from Scotland I loved to see the old bus they have from Glasgow. You can even ride the trolley out and they have a motor man program that allows you to drive the trolley yourself (supervised of course). They have different events throughout the season like the pumpkin patch trolley ride and the speakeasy retro night etc. Will be back!

Amanda Gorey

Fun place to explore old trolleys from around the world. When someone first reccomended visiting they said it was a "Maine Museum" which I didn't get at the time. The trolleys are housed in old barns/warehouses and you get to go up and down the rows. Most of the trolleys are open so you can go in and sit and explore. A lot of them have ads from the time the trolley operated which I thought was a great touch. About every 45 mins you can ride a trolley. They usually have a couple of different ones you can take a ride on. The workers are mostly volunteers and are extremely knowledgeable and interesting to speak to.

Carol VanSyckle

Enjoyed the trolley ride. Very informative of the trolley history. Grandson loved it too.

Pat Galindo

Great place for the entire family. Admission price covers unlimited rides on the trolleys + a museum, trolley barns, and a restoration shop to walk through. Check out their website for special events and their regular hours. Enjoy!

Brian Fox

The best place ever more mr Roger's tv stars there please

Sue Heaney

Loads of equipment to look at. Nice people that can answer any question you have. They put a tremendous amount of work into restoration and need donation money. One trolly sign said it took $200,000 to restore a trolly to working order like new. Nice train ride in an antique restored trolly.

Eirik Harteis

Fabulous site for rediscovering lost history. Well worth the trip, particularly on an overcast day.

Jennifer Hebert

We attended the Daniel Tiger private event on a very hot Saturday. The staff and volunteers were wonderful. They were patient, curtious and helpful. We had a really nice time...even in the extreme heat.

Franco Chiaramonte

Wonderful place. Lots of trollies to explore. Fun riding them too. Very dog friendly. Our dog loves going into the trollies.

Sonia Bermonty

This was one of the places we visited during our time in the Kennebunk area ....it was very cool got to see some really cool vintage signs, trains, trolleys, and buses ...the grounds were very well kept, and we enjoyed the trolley ride as well

alex eisman

It was a wonderful time. Good for children.

Dyanna O

Really nice museum. Mostly outside. Very informative. Everyone there is super nice and eager to answer any questions you may have. They are all very knowledgeable.

Nicolas St-Gelais-

Nice place to learn some history and the trams are well preserved

Joanna M

Small but very informative when asked questions.

Frank Palazolo

Fantastic

Michael Wilmot

Tickets are purchased in the gift shop upon entering to the left. Good size waiting room for the trolley. There are two trolleys, one enclosed and the other open. Both trolleys alternate trips. The ride takes you straight to the park, then bends around said park to make its way back to the station. The trolley stops in the park to give some history of the park and what the museum does. After the ride you can walk around most of the property, some areas are off limits, marked clearly. You can see the workshop and the process of the trolley renovations. There are some trolleys that you can walk through with information placks. At the moment, one of the storage units is being rebuild and upgraded. Definitely a great place to spend time with the family and/or friends to walk around and learn about the past. I've been about three times, this father's day being the most recent, and enjoyed the experience each time.

Chris Michael

Great place to go and take your kids and learn about the trolley system and about Boston's trolley line that actually still runs today

Robert Patton

This museum has tons of really cool old trains and trolleys you can learn about and even get in. The staff is super friendly, too. A must see!

Tim Heerboth

I was in the boston area with some friends looking for museums and breweries. I found the trolley museum, and someone had given it a poor review calling it a "scrap yard disguised as a museum". Naturally we had to hit it up. We ended up spending 5 hours there looking at tons of cool vehicles and trolleys, riding the restored 1895 and 1965 trolleys, and checking out what they were working on in the restoration shop. Well worth a visit.

Susie Raiche

Cheerful and enjoyable ride on an antique trolley car. The grounds were almost a walk through history with restored and semi-restored trolley cars and busses from the age when electricity was a novel mode of propulsion. The motormen were very knowledgeable and friendly.

Kevin Jay

What a cool place this is. Lots of history. The staff is awesome too.

Angelina Ostrenga

They have an amazing Boy Scouts Railroading Merit badge program. Thank you for supporting the scouting community.

Velda Wasson

Nice people and I loved the adds in the, trolleys

Tanya Emery

Fun and interesting for all ages!! So much to see and learn and experience. We went for a special event, they had Daniel Tiger there to meet the kids. The volunteers were wonderful. The pricing is very reasonable and it's such a unique experience. I will definitely be coming back with other family members so they can experience it as well!

Ben Broughton

Great place run by mostly volunteers that love what they do. Great place to visit to see some revived history.

Cynthia Tierney

Great place to take the kids. An informative trolley ride. There are so many buses and trolleys to go on. The kids loved it.

Steve Blanchette

Stopped here with the kids (1 and 3 yrs old) and had a blast! They had fun riding the trolley and the conductor let them ring the bell and pull the steam whistle. The ride is about 1.6 miles and a knowledgeable volunteer gives you the history of trolleys and the interesting history of how the trolley museum got started. After the ride you can walk around a number of garages with restored trolley cars and even go into the shop were workers restore the trolleys. There were some people working on a trolley while we were there! It’s fun for kids, interesting for adults, and I highly recommend!

Karen Chapman

Was very interesting, more than i thought it would be.

Christy Falke

This little known place in Kennebunk ME was very interesting. All the train conductors are volunteering their time. They did a great job!

Nick Leesam

This is a cool museum to see, we'll definitely visit again. Our 2yo really enjoyed riding the trolleys and so did we!

Clifford Tremblay

What an amazing place! Had so much fun exploring the grounds and seeing the beautiful trolleys, trains, and busses. The staff was SUPER nice, approachable, and willing to answer questions. Good for all ages.

Barbara Depalmer

A great trolley ride and stop at a barn to hear the history of them. Very enjoyable and interesting!. Staff was very knowledgeable

Bob Catalano

This place is cool for the kids and history but it is a bit pricey.
