REVIEWS OF Seal Cove Auto Museum IN Maine

Grease Munky

Great place and knowledge staff. A few members were working on a Ford while people were visiting. Great to see restoration in progress!

Beverly Hanson

What a truly wonderful place! A true step back in time and very informative.

D M

A lot bigger than it looks from the outside. Good way to kill an hour. Cheap admission. Friendly staff. Lego and coloring table for kids who loose interest in the old cars. Beautiful old cars. By the way, Seal Cove Road from Southwest Harbor is mostly gravel. You might want to take the long way around.

Great museum! An amazing collection of antique cars and motorcycles and a friendly, knowledgable staff to guide you through it all. When we went they had a thoughtful collection of vintage advertisements to accompany the cars. It was interesting to see the cultural/historical references beside each car. Fun for kids and adults!

Kindall White

Joanne Mishou

This is wonderful collection of old, very old, vehicles. There are also old motorcycles, children's push peddle cars, and period clothing interspersed among the cars. Bring your picnic lunch to enjoy on the picnic tables under the trees.

Tim Schunk

If you love cars then this is the place. History is everything here. Well staffed, clean and neat.

Joshua Rinas

An amazing collection of historic vehicles telling the story of the early development of the automobile. The narrative of advertising shares an insightful look at vehicle evolution and sales. The exhibition is an excellent, if surprising, find in this very rural Maine location. Undoubtedly worth the trip for anyone interested in history or cars.

Fabulous collection of more than 50 beautifully restored vintage cars: gas, electric, and steam powered, primarily from about 1900 to 1920. Very knowledgeable and helpful staff, and even offers free rides in something from the collection on Fridays, weather permitting.

This is a pure gem hidden deep in Acadia, Maine. Museum with taste, style, class, with deep attention to historical detail. Better even then the huge automotive museum in Brussels, Belgium. With kind staff and a special take on cars that will melt the hearts even of non-drivers. They even have a place for kids to play. Undoubtably one of the best museum establishments I ever saw. SEVEN STARS well-deserves!!

This was a great little car museum on Mt. Desert island. We have visited many larger automobile museums across many states, and this museum still managed to surprise us with some cars and motorcycles we had never seen before.

Many very nice early 1900s cars and a few motorcycles and bicycles. Very interesting display.

Emily Smith

Strange, but awesome attraction available on the island. When we arrived, there was one other couple in the building, and our party of four. No one else came in the 90+ minutes we were there. It is very quiet and seemingly desolate, but very cool! I am not much of a car person, but the other members of my party truly enjoyed reading all of the provided information on the dozens and dozens of cars on display! Very interesting, very educational, very neat stop! Definitely recommend if you have any car enthusiasts or history enthusiasts in your party.

Keith Kenniff

The guides really know the history of these museum pieces and love taking care of them. While we enjoy it's out of the way location, can't understand why there are not more visitors. Such a beautiful experience for young and older.

One of Maine's best kept secret treasures, this collection astonishes in its variety of very early cars. I never realized there were so many makers back then, making steam, combustible and even an early electric car. Wonderful!

Middle of nowhere hidden GEM!Hard to believe one person used to own all these incredible cars. About 60 on display. Second time we have been here. Fabulous collection of original and restored autos, with a few motorcycles and horsedrawn vehicles thrown in as well. Cool t-shirts and gift shop. Really friendly and knowledgeable staff. The art of brass era cars is stunning, theprograms are innovative and fun. There is always someone very knowledgeable to answer questions or point out details that make it even more interesting. I was there to draw these beauties as part of an ArtWaves workshop that day. It was difficult to decide which one to use as my model -the more I looked the more I saw. I will return!

Isaac Seavey

speak thereal

They will not tell you when they are closed due to painting, or contruction they will just close and not inform you. It would of been nice to know. I love antique cars and not to sound like a complainer but I drove 24 minutes each way which is 50 minutes all together. Kinda frustrating to get there and they are closed when you seen “ open” on their website. And when you try to call and no one answers but a voice mail says open.

Amazing Auto Museum! I didn't even think I was that interested in old cars, but this place was incredibly interesting, and helped me to see them as works of art, in addition to an important part of history

Bernie Englert

Very interesting

Matt Bernier

Amazing collection of pre-1920 automobiles, as well as a handful of bicycles and motorcycles from the same era. There are informational placards for almost every vehicle. The wood-bodied Peugot was my favorite exhibit although I loved seeing some of the old coaches with 3-4 rows of bench seats as well. All in all a definite must see for anyone traveling through the area. Admission is cheap too, only $6!

Sergey Nikitin

One more excellent hidden New-England treasure with the huge collection of autos, bicycles and motorcycles from the beginning of Brass Era. The non-profit museum has been established by a passionate cat collector Richard Paine who spent a lifetime creating this beautiful collection.
