REVIEWS OF Penobscot Narrows Bridge IN Maine

Will Burns

Observatory was cool, great view.

Erich Franck

You can go to see Fort Knox and for a few dollars more you can go to the top of the bridge tower to the observatory. It's the only one in the Western hemisphere, and the tallest in the world. It's just a neat experience all around.

Kelly Hanes

Awesome! & handicap accessible

Steve Sharp

Very nice place to see the area

Eduardo Saule

Beautiful

The view was awesome. But the rude old Lady with a brown bob cut at the entrance really ruined the vibe. No need to be rude to paying guests.

Winona Christnot-Peters

Penobscot Narrows Bridge and Fort Knox is an excellent place to spend an afternoon. The view from the bridge observatory is spectacular, and Fort Knox is a fascinating part of Maine history.

Jacob Fick

Impressive views and ticket covers checking out Fort Knox

Rebecca Morris

The bridge is a beautiful sight. Most bridges have cables or steel along the outside of the bridge. This is only suspended in the center

Todd S

A quick must do

Wendy Cooley

The view was awesome!!

Brent Presnell

Stop and take it in. Unusual and well worth your time.

Ragnar Finland

Just awesome

Meg Rosano

This is by far my new favorite place to visit while I'm on the road for work! You need to buy a ticket to go up to the observatory and they close at 5pm so you'll want to plan ahead.

Linus Adler

Absolutely, almost unnecessarily beautiful bridge to top off whatever amazing adventure you were conducting here.

Kevin White

Really cool bridge and tower would definitely recommend checking this out!

Lauren May

This was a fun pit stop. Cost $7 per adult to take the elevator to the observation deck to the top. There was a storm coming in when we were up there so it was beautiful and thrilling all at the same time.

Shelly DuBois

Leaf peeping, oh what a view.

Mark Weimer

Clean, fast elevator! Very cool - I'll be back for foliage pics

Greg Anderson

Crossed this beautiful bridge on the way to Acadia and decided to check it out on the way back. You can buy a ticket and take an elevator to an observation deck at the top for 360 views. I would recommend taking a trip up to the top in the Fall for fantastic foliage views. For photogs, it's completely glass cased at the top so watch out for glare.

brandie bussiere

Amazing view!!

Chris Godfrey

We really enjoyed the views and architecture!

Cindy

The tower view is amazing! You are enclosed- safe for children. The fort is interesting and a great place to burn off energy if you're on a road trip with small people.

Stumbled upon this wonder accidentally. Well worth a visit! Ride the elevator to the top for breathtaking views of the river valley and beyond.

Savitri Balram

A very nice bridge that offers amazing views at 420 feet in the air. Fun fact, it is the highest bridge observatory in the western hemisphere. Be sure to visit Fort Knox as well!

Linda-Jo Diamond

Dave C.

Paul Pearce

We did it.

Ryan Kinsella

I can not count the times I've seen amazing skys here and some amazing bird sightings as well. If you hang out for an hour you will be sure to see something amazing!

Hilary Creighton

Really amazing place to visit! You have to purchase admission to the fort and the bridge at the gate when you drive in. They have an elevator all the way up to the top. If you have trouble with heights I do not recommend going up. The views are amazing and they have plaques with information about the area.

Stephen Priest

Not long to drive across but a great place to visit. Views from the top are amazing. Wheelchair accessible.

Chris Keyes

Definitely a cool spot to stop along Hwy 1. On a clear day, the views at the top of the tower are worth the $8. The nearby fort is cool as well.

C Patterson

One of the most beautiful places I have ever been. Enjoyed it.

Si Philbrick

It is an awesome sight from the top! Love it!!

ZH Z

Steve Haynes

Great view of penobscot bay.

Balaji G.

A beautiful bridge in Maine overlooking the mountains with Fall colors.. A good vista point especially because of a good shoulder along the road for walking

Andrew Bartels

Incredible attraction. The observatory is one of a kind in the United States. Truly spectacular.

Christopher Gilbert

Between it and the fort you could spend an entire day here. Makes a wonderful stop on the way to wherever you're traveling for the day--a gorgeous place to stretch your legs.

Tyler Weymouth

The tallest bridge observatory in the world, only the 2nd bridge built with this particular cable technology, and completed in just 3/3.5 years (as opposed to an average of 10 years for bridges of this scale & style). Located 16 miles south of Bangor, the observatory features beautiful 360° views of the lower Penobscot River, Verona Island, Town of Bucksport, Fort Knox, and the surrounding landscape. The granite used for various aspects of the structure was sourced from nearby Mosquito Mountain. The entrance to the observatory is combined with the entrance to Fort Knox (no, not the Fort Knox in Kentucky with all the gold...

Nicole Spencer

Use to HATE BRIDGES BUT AFTER WALKING ACROSS THIS TO TRY TO FACE MY FEAR I NO LONGER FEAR AT LEAST THIS ONE LOL ITS STUNNINGLY BEAUTIFUL HERE!!

Karen Miller

Beautiful views

Cynthia Ford

An engineering marvel. 360 degree view at the top. That's it unless you visit Fort Knox adjacent to it.

jim catalfamo

my family hand so much fun here at the PENOBSCOT NARROWS OBSERVATORY & FORT KNOX IN MAINE. the views are worth the stop and the fort was excellent to see. i just wish we had more time to spend here because we had so many stops to see in maine the day. plus the people that work here were a pleasure to talk with and they gave us so good tips of what to add to our site seeing list

katherine drew

Went all the way up. Cool!

karen Young

Pretty cool to have a 1 of only 4 in the world hidden away just for us Americans! Kudos to all involved. Did not go up...scared of heights.

Ted Hersh

Awesome views from the observation deck, only $8 to ride to the top of the world's tallest bridge observatory. Well worth it.

Brittany Knight

Cool

Paul B

Not a fan of heights, but I braved it and I'm glad I did. Incredible panoramic views from up there.

Karen Dube

A must see sight. You can see Fort Knox from top.

Harold & Debbie Tardy

Friendly staff, quick ride to the top, what a view!! If you haven't been there and are thinking about, do it!

Cindi Breidt

Beautiful view..

Jenna Deslaurier

Beautiful bridge, and great lookout spot! We visit my family in Maine every summer and always say how we should go up to the observatory, well, finally we did! With a full 360 degree view it truly is worth doing once, and then head over to the fort, included in admission!

Cameron Marden

I love this bridge it was a great idea to make a reality and im glad that the people decided to fund the building for it

Joseph Brochu

Geat views.

Rick Bruns

Great view. Worth checking out.

Michael Leake

Cruising through Maine and drove across this beauty! Fun stop with informative markers. You can pay a small fee in addition to entering the fort to ascend to the observatory.

Liz Mannheim-Davis

What a view!

Swagaar

The coolest Bridge's I've seen this year

Jenny Michaux Dotson

This is one 'wonder' that no one should miss, if you are anywhere close. The Observatory is the highest public observatory, and the bridge is one of only four cable-stayed bridges in the world, and the only one in the States...and it is in Maine!! Fort Knox is right there, and it is so very inexpensive to enjoy. Loved it!!

Frank Johnson 4-5

Awesome place to bring kids and friends, family!!! But I noticed on the road there is emergency phones but a very dim light for them. They need to have bright blue lights like on campuses.

Kim Kelly

Great observatory--very scenic!

Ashwin P.P

Cabled styled bridge looks great from far.

Ellen Boucher

Incredible views. Wow!

Joseph Dutko

What a beautiful bridge with the observatory. It's quite unsuspected as you approach it on US Hwy 1, you have to pull over to appreciate the spectacular view that it presents.
