Great trail, sick coastal views

Austin

TLDR: Beautiful hike with beautiful views (at least the northern part of the reserve). Likely not suitable for children under 6, in my opinion. At the end of June 2018 we hiked along the northern most trail out to the coast, and then down a short way before turning back. I can't speak for the rest of the Reserve, but the 3 miles we hiked were stunning. We went when the weather was cool, early morning before there were any other people on the trails and before a rain storm rolled in. Perfect hiking weather really. The views at the coast were great.

(Translated by Google) The ocean view is breathtaking. The trail is rather easy. There is a bypass on the Inland part. (Original) La vue sur l'océan est a couper le souffle. Le trail est plutôt facile. Il y a une déviation sur la partie Inland.

Beautiful area to camp and backpack in. Unique coastal cliff trail I'll never forget.

Nathaniel T. Hughes

Was astounded by the majestic beauty here

Christa Montgomery

Stunning views after 1-2 miles of easy to moderate hike. A fairly remote hiking area with about 6 backbacking sites along coastal cliffs that require 2 to 5 mile moderate to difficult hikes. Muddy in spring, bugs in summer, often windy on coastal trail. Inland hike proceeds through several marshy areas with most being traversed by boardwalks. No fires, potable water, or services nearby.

(Translated by Google) Stunning trail along the coast with beautiful views. Around inside a little rugged, it has sections with water to above the knees (Original) Impresionante trail por la costa con preciosas vistas. Camped out on Long Point watched the sun rise at 4:45 am 7/21/16. A must hike and campout put on your to do list. Check out video and photos of our trip. Facebook "Backpacking With Paws On The Trail" and YouTube "Paws On The Trail"

The trails are eroded (exposing roots and rocks) but the scenery makes up for it, particularly the 3+ miles along the pristine cliffs at the ocean.

Niles Armstrong

Beautiful trip. Did this as a 10 mile loop overnight with my 5 year old over Memorial Weekend. A couple of practical tips. Pack in whatever water you need. Even with a filter, finding water isn't guaranteed. If there's been heavy rain, you may find some sources. Second, on holiday weekends, the designated sites fill up. There are few non-designated sites that make sense or are usable. Plan accordingly.

Lee Marthers

The best views on any hike in the US.

After reading some of these reviews i feel more lucky than before to have hiked this for most of my life. This trail is where i proposed to my wife. I bring our son here every year. I love doing the little rappel down to the pocket beach about three miles in, there are lots of things to do here amd side adventures to embark on. It really is nice to see how many people visit little cutler to hike the wildnerness.

Diana Shewmaker

Amazing views of the Maine coast! Easy hike, great for families

Jim Courville

One of the most beautiful places I've hiked. Be warned, the trails are overgrown. Not a little or a few sections, I would estimate 60% had hip high growth blocking your view of the single track trail. We hiked the inland trail, down to fairy head, and back to the parking lot along the coast trail. About 9.5 miles total. This isn't a tough hike in terms of elevation. It is typical Northern New England with roots and rocks everywhere. We visited first week of August and the inland trail was flooded, about shin deep, right before you would turn to the cutoff. Blueberries everywhere, we gorged ourselves. Swam at the beach full of smooth river rock with a staircase leading down - Long Point Cove is the official name. Brought a snorkel and could see the massive drop off heading out into the Bay of Fundy. The water was 51* if you don't have cold water experience, and cant swim very proficiently don't jump in!!! All in all a good hike with a lot of bushwacking and incredible views of Maine, Grand Manan Island and the Bay of Fundy

This is Maine's best kept secret! The trails are challenging but doable. But the views are spectacular!

Heather Young

Nick Trubia

Raw beauty

Angie Richardson

The water is so beautiful but not much to do there

jack gondela

One of the top five hikes in Maine. Imagine walking 4.5 miles along the coast without seeing a building. Imagine walking on top of hundred foot cliffs over the ocean with no one else around. Cobblestone beaches feature water too cold to swim in for most. This place is a treasure.

Brian Gay

Absolutely gorgeous. Take snacks and water, though- you are in the middle of no where.

Brendan Lynch

Amazing backpacking on the coast. Westcoast coast look to the area.

Darrin Lary

Nice for a long hike to beautiful waters

Laura Casey

Absolutely beautiful coastal preserve with plenty to do. High bluffs, rugged coastal cliffs, pebble beaches and rustic camping sites...one would almost believe they are in the PNW

April Moyer

Had a life changing trek to the coast here. Felt like being on the edge of the Earth.
