Nice day hikes to senic hill tops. Coastal Maine at it's best. Well matained, small park fee.
Mt. Battie is a must-see in Camden! Beautiful views of the city and harbor down below. There is a resident and non-resident fee to enter. You can hike up or drive up and park at the top. I believe it was around $8 for non resident. Dog friendly, but make sure to bring extra waste bags. There is a small tower at the peak you can climb via a narrow, winding staircase.
Well worth the money and effort to get to.
Very nice state park for relaxing or for the adventurers for a hike for this view megunicook trail lookout!!!
Nice State Park with vista to drive to above Camden and harbor, with a castle-like lookout. The lookout you can hike to by several trails is higher, and offers an even more stunning view of the bay.
Fantastic trails and spectacular views.
Beautiful place with lots of hiking trails.
Great central location. Lovely wooded sites, and not too close together. Private showers with good water pressure.
Amazing view. Easy access by vehicle.
We didn’t have time to hike, so we just drove up to the summit. It only took less than 10 minutes. The view was spectacular, especially on a beautiful, sunny day in June.
An easy drive up to a high point to see a great view of the area. Loved that it was dog-friendly too!
Terrific view from the summit and some nice hiking trails.
Beautiful views and hiking. Lower area was my favorite, though. Rocky trail down to the shore is worth it!
Nice Drive to the summit . Beautiful views.
Gorgeous views and friendly staff! Pictures do not do it justice!
Ocean lookout on Mount Megunticook - vast view over the coast of Maine.
The colors of the trees and seeing the town from up high
Nice State park.awesome views.one thing is park needs better info for trails on where to go. Worst thing is GOOGLE maps takes you basically a one lane road going up a mountain that ends at someone's house. Gentleman who we stopped and talked to said he been fighting Google months and months to change .double check your trip.worth the ride to see scenery.
Very pretty view from the top of Mt. Battie. It's very windy and you can't stay here for long!
My daughter and I hiked to the summit on an early spring day. A little wet but beautiful. Clean air and good views.
Beautiful views of Camden and the harbor even with the rain coming in !!
Great park! Don't forget the little shore walk!
Beautiful. There were great scenic views and a few restrooms that workedd out just fine. Definitely worth the $6 per person entrqnce fee for non-residents. We also crossed rt1 to the bayside. There was a nice little walk and swing set.
Great views of surrounding Camden, Lincolnville, and islands. Should be the first and last thing visitors do when exploring this area, gives a great perspective of the area. Always a beautiful stop! Drive right up too, great for the older folks!
This is a beautiful Park. It's well-maintained. There are many options from driving to the top of the auto road and the Fantastic sites up near the tower, to Camping, to all the hiking trails this place has it all. There are plenty of rest rooms that are rustic but still available. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The park is very close to the main downtown area of Camden which has wonderful shops great eateries and also several walking areas.
Great little camping area. They keep it very clean and are very friendly. Will definately go back.
Beautiful, if you are by car don't forget to go to the summit!
Camden Hills State park is a very nice stop for the whole family. Besides camping and trails, there is a motorway right to the top of a mountain. At the top is a stone tower to memorialize wwI that provides a breathtaking 360 view of mountains and ocean. It's worth the entry fee just to do that part. The camping spots vary, though. About half the spots are crammed together pretty close, and the other half are reasonably secluded.
Very brief visit. We didn't camp there, but it looks very nice. The showers and lavatory facilities were the best I've ever seen in the state park. New York could take lesson.
Beautiful place! A must see if in the area
Great place beautiful views and I was able to climb the tower on Mt Battie
Great campground. Quiet at night, large spaces. Nice staff. Be sure and drive up the mountain for the spectacular view.
Gorgeous lots of birds and great maine landscape
Fantastic views from Mt. Battie. Several hiking trails around to extend your time in the park.
Just got back from the walk very steep not for the faint of heart. Long back and forth up over very hard terrain. Three thing you need to do this hike. Be in shape, waterproof hiking boots and a hiking pole. Had a great climb with the dogs they passed out as soon as we got home.
So fun and great views
Beautiful views, easy access. Loved it!
Great place to view the ocean and Camden harbor. There is tower at the top of Mt. Battie with great views. Good hiking trails.
Beautiful views of Camden and its Harbour.
Great place to visit. The trails are great and the views can't be beat!
We love visiting Mt. Battie! It has a great view of the bay, great hiking and walking trails! You can take people of all ages and it is partially handicap friendly, you just have to find the best way to navigate at the top. Great place for a picnic or just to take some great pictures! Highly recommend!
Beautiful views.
The trails are well marked.
Amazing fall view and if you walk 3 mins from the main spot you can have a romantic private view
The view from the top is absolutely fantastic (on a clear day); it's more than 180 degree. You can drive all the way up, and enjoy the view right away, no walking required. The park entry fees are worth it even if driving up to the summit of Mount Bettie is the only thing you want to do (much more is there)
Take the road to Mt Battie. Price is very cheap
Fabulous view of the Penobscot Bay
The state park itself is really nice. The view from the mountain is gorgeous and you're able to drive right up to it. The campgrounds are nice enough too. My only complaint is it is a little pricey for not having sewer hookups. Most things are pricey around here though. They offer shower facilities, restrooms, and a dump station.
Quaint, beautiful and peaceful. A great scenic harbor town with mariner written all over it.
Nice fall hike trail was not crowded and a nice view of Camden harbor. Some of the last in a teeshirt hikes for this year. Views good of the wind farm on Vinalhaven
Great views. I would only suggest paying to get into the park if you want an easy drive to the top of the mountain there are plenty of trails in the area what you don't have to pay for where you can get the same and much better views of nature with a little hiking
Very nice park. We had a fun walk and saw some great views. The view of Campden from Mt. Battie was stunning!
Well maintained trails that offer a variety of challenges for hikers of varying experience. Beautiful views at the summits but these trails are rewarding around every corner. One of Maine's many beautiful state parks.
Beautiful place to visit and see the harbor!
Beautiful scenic views from the summit of Mt Battie inside Camden hills State Park. You can drive right to the summit (only about 800 ft elevation) which was great since we had a toddler with us and it was cold and windy. Price to enter Park is $6/adult for non residents, $4 for locals, and includes parking which is nice. There are also trails if you are interested in hiking but we didn't have time to check them out.
We love the Camden area
Omg so breathtaking
FABULOUS views!
A MUST on a clear day... wow you can see the bay for miles!!
Looks as if the state of Maine and its beauty is a well kept secret.....
Was in Maine for my sons graduation! The park is breath taking!
Amazing views! Trail to Ocean Lookout is a good workout. 50/50 your kiddos will love or hate.
A MAINE TREASURE in Camden Extremely well run State Facility!
Great park with camping facilities and great scenery. Price to enter is $6 for adults and $2 for seniors. The view from the top of Mt. Battie is fabulous.
Absolutely worthwhile to come up! Beautiful views, including Camden harbor and Camden!
Expensive, but that is to be expected given its wonderful proximity to Camden. The park is scruffy, but wooded and many sites are beautifully private.
Beautiful stop on the way up the Maine coast. There are two different areas to explore. The coast is great and the views from the top of the mountain are incredible.
Very relaxing hiking and beautiful view
This park has a wonderful trail network, beautifully stunning views and showcases coastal Maine's unique forest and vegetation.
Really pretty and well kept
A blast with great views
Not a lot of road access but beautiful. A great place if you enjoy camping. Lots of camping sites with showers close by. They even have playgrounds for the camping kids.
Beautiful views but the gnats are awful! Bring big spray.
Awesome views. Even on foggy days. This is a must do when in the area.
Pay the fee and go to the top! It's worth it. Beautiful and stunning!!
Camped here for one night and absolutely loved it. Half the sites have water and electricity which make it very practical. WiFi on some of the sites and the staff is very friendly and helpful. I would stay here again!
Oasis onto on Mt,Battie. Once RV facilities, hard trek hiking and stupendous views at the top. Toilet facilities available. Pay fee at Ranger station drive thru.
Well run, great park!
So beautiful. So easy to access
Great Hike, great view
Great spot for a gathering.
Beautiful and lots of hiking trails.
Surprisingly pricey ($6 per person for us out of state folks)
Beautiful place, very poorly maintained! Blazes are missing in a lot of areas..
Really great hiking trails with amazing views on clear days. Lots of parking and the trails were well marked with signs and blue paint marks.
Good view long calk
The views are amazing and just a short ride to the top!
Beautiful! Trails are not that easy to hike; there are no railings or anything. It doesn't take experience, but one should be careful because you can easily fall off a cliff there or run down a trail too fast and twist an ankle. The views at the top are outstanding and go on and on and on. Be prepared to spend lots of time climbing once at the summit.
6$ is A little too much if you just want to see the view but it's a beautiful view
We hiked Megunticook on a late Sunday afternoon. We went a bit too early in the season, as there was still ice and A LOT of mud that made the ascent challenging. Amazing views at the top though, that made it totally worth it. Haven't camped here, so can't thoroughly review, but the sites we saw walking through are quite close together and not very private.
Loved it. Great views.
Beautiful views. Well maintained trails.
This was an amazing hike the entire way. And the views were magnificent.
Beautiful state park near a wonderful downtown.
Campground is clean, neat and well organized.
Many hiking paths, easy to follow the marked trail. We have seen a dozen of eagles! Great view over Camden Area and the Ocean.
Beautiful views. Worth the six dollar entrance fee.
A pleasant place to enjoy a beautiful view of Camden harbour.
First time staying at this park. It was spectaular, IMO. The fog on the water burned off views were as we say...wicked awesome. Close to anything you could need, and our favorite pizza place also has a spot around..even bettah!! We are looking forward to going back and may end up making it an anual trip.
Great trails and amazing views
Great views from Mount Battie
Great little park. Plenty of trails. Biking and hiking areas, Battie tower trail is steep in areas but lots of fun! Was able to do it with kids ages 12, 11, and 6.
Loved the easy access to Camden and to Mt. Battie. The former is one of those perfect places you have to see to believe. And the latter has the most amazing views of the coast and towns that you won't be able to believe when you see it. There's only two complaints I will register. The camp sites are small so rent a bigger one than you think you'll need. Also the road to Mt. Battie is damaged by frost heave and is slightly dangerous.
Accessible for everyone. Great views
This campground is well maintained and reasonably priced. The showers were clean and had warm water. Quiet time rules were a bit too sternly enforced but that's better than the opposite - no enforcement.
Nice view. Love this place
Stunning in the fall as well as the rest of the year. About as Maine as you can get. Certainly worth checking out. Photographers beware: you may fall in love.
A beautiful view from atop Mt. Battie but the park doesn't have much else of interest as our family has limited mobility. While we took the auto road, many people enjoy the hiking in the park and surrounding areas.
Nice easy hike with a rewarding view.
If you go hiking, stunning trails, although some require to be very fit. Take good boots and trecking poles.
I had different expectations from this place. The view from the top is amazing! You can see far away, plus I travel during fall so all the colored trees make the view a lot better. One of the things that I didn't thought about was the wind. Particularly the day that I went to see the park it was extremely windy, so it was really cold, and this park is mostly for walking (which I was not expecting) So the only thing that I was able to do was going to the top and then leave, because the other areas are only accessible hiking. So, if you have plans on visiting this park during the cold months, plan ahead and bring warm clothes for the hike. One thing I personally recommend, is visiting during fall or probably summer. Fall the colors are amazing, every tree has different colors so the view can’t be compare to anything. Photo @karlagmphotography
Great day, great weather, great views. The trails are well marked too. Will probably come back in the fall to enjoy the fall colors.
Amazing gem of a place.... The autoroad makes this view a accessible to all....enjoy!
Great place for a family hike up Mt. Battie or something longer and a bit more taxing up to Megunticook. The amazing views of Camdon Harbor from the top of Mt. Battie an also be accessed via a toll road to the top. The trails are well marked and maintained.
Found some nice mushrooms. I hiked for 3 hours and was only lost for about 1!
What a great surprise this place was! We drove to the top of Mt Battie - easy to park & get out to explore and enjoy the beautiful views. We also went across the street to the waters edge & explored the Oceanside paths. We spent 1-2 hours just enjoying the views here - loved it!
Beautiful place, best to visit in the summertime when you can hike around without getting too cold.
If you're in the area you must check it out.
Awesome views from Mt Battie!
Stunning views, great trails
A nice place to spend time with the kids, or friends and have a picnic.
Great views. A good hike to the top.
Very nice find, a beautiful park. A must stop on your travels.
There isn't enough words to describe the amazing views and services provided here. Come with time, and an open mind. You'll never be disappointed. 30 miles of hiking over seven coastal mountains. A great place for family and group camping. It's a mistake to drive away because of a minimal fee!
Small, open campsites with little privacy allow for stunning views of the garbage dumpsters. If you are thinking of camping here, do yourself a favor, get a day pass to go up the hill and stay overnight at a local Inn instead. The park staff are overzealous, and treat guests like the prisoners who installed their low speed wifi.
A "must see" Just a beautiful spot to view and know who to thank!
Loved that the showers had outside secure access! Very pretty park!
This is a great place to go biking, fishing swimming. It is very close to the downtown.
Clean, friendly staff, spotless restrooms amd bath houses. Nice camping experience!
Hiking was great. Very well marked and a little challenging. Nice view at the top. Recommend doing.
Great little park. Beautiful view from Mount Battie.
This is a great park. This year we decided to take a hike up the back side to the tower (Mount Battie Trail). It's a great trail - but, be warned it has some pretty steep sections that might be too much for those not used to hiking or dressed appropriately. We went on a very hot day and had 4 year olds with us. We all made it up, but I ended up going back down and bringing the minivan around to pick everyone up at the tower. The views, however, are beautiful and I think worth the effort!
Beautiful area with some great hiking trails!
Camden Hills is a very nice state park. I think all W/E sites are shaded. However, it is the most expensive state park in which I have stayed. $49 per night!
Absolutely beautiful area. Well maintained and friendly staff. The maps for hiking could've been a little better, but gorgeous views and worth going over and over.
Love the trails around here! The fall scenery is absolutely stunning from the top of these mountains! I definitely recommend hiking these trails, some are are a bit tricky but the view at the top is amazing!
Beautiful views, great hiking.
Stunning views of the harbor from the top of Mt Batty!
The park is big, I liked the nature but super busy
Nice views.
Stunning views! Easy ride up the mountain or hike using multiple trails.
Great hiking trails. Be prepared for steep climbs rewarded with outstanding views. Dogs good on leash (but not on the beach).
Beautiful hike up into the hills and the views of the harbor were stunning. Easy hike and can be done with family if you go slow. Sneakers a must but we had out hiking boots and we were happy we did. Make sure to bring plenty of water.
Amazing views in a peaceful park
Trekked up to the top of Mount Battie. Great view.
Very interesting sites to see.A nice place to do some climbing or ride up the mountain in your car.View I gorgeous.
Mt Battie Summit is incredible.
Enjoyed our stay in the park, it was our 4th visit. Hike the trail and drive up to Mount Battie for the beautiful vista of Camden and the coast. Nice hot showers!
Awesome views! Lots of great places to eat!!
Great little day hike that's a slight challenge, or if you have kids you can drive up to the castle!
Bring bug spray! Beautiful views. I drove to the top but you can hike to the top also.
Nice views close to downtown.
What a beautiful Vista along the ocean and looking back up over the hills. The autumn leaves on this cloudy day appeared even more vivid.
We drove the whole way up to the viewpoint and the view from the top of the mountain was really wonderful. We went during Fall. Definitely will visit again. It is good for hiking.
A very beautiful quick stop in Camden. Must see!!!
Nice area and view
Pleasant morning hike to Ocean Lookout.
Nice outlook of the bay
