REVIEWS OF Allagash Brewing Company IN Maine

Daniel Coes

It's easy to get overloaded on delicious IPAs in Portland, which makes Allagash a welcome counterpoint as they feature many different styles of beer. Always a great experience.

Ben Green

Phenomenal quality beer, original and unique yet all very crushable. The prices are outstanding. One of my favorite american breweries I've visited.

Emilie Castaldo

Best brewery tour I've ever taken! Great location to hang out with friends and enjoy what's on draft.

Peter Ledger

Although being a nationally recognized brewery that receives thousands of visitors a day, they still pull off feeling like a local bar. Emily, specifically, was an incredibly knowledgeable and welcoming bartender. The combination of the quality beer and service was first rate. Thanks Emily!

Mac Coldwell

I attended one of the 8 plate events and it was really fun. The trap room and the food area is all on the ground floor so it is wheelchair accessible. There trap room outdoor patio look like a great place to hang out, and I haven't had a bad beer there.

Mike Kraai

Amazing company. Amazing beer. Amazing people.

Mary Penny

Awesome space, even better beer. Super reasonably priced. Not to be missed if in the area.

Amanda Reuillard

This is my favorite brewery! We have a great time every time we make it up there. I recommend Allagash to everyone!

Maya Perrott

I hope Allagash makes more varieties of beer.

Jason Kriaski

Their flagship White is solid, but the Sixteen Counties is spectacular. Great space, welcoming vibe, fun atmosphere, love the beer.

Marit Ivory

Nice brewery. All Belgian brews so avoid if you want more traditional American beer. Cash only tips.

Tom Joseph

Awesome brewery. Second visit, did not do the tour, but they offer reasonably priced tastings, flight samplers, half pours, full pours. Had entertainment, Bite of Maine food truck, merchandise. Other breweries on the street, but only made it to Alligash twice... Great place, friendly atmosphere, great time 2x.

Keith Johnson

Great Belgian inspired beers. Barrel-aged and sours are especially good.

T Wirth

I've been on 12+ brewery tours at some of the highest rated breweries in the midwest and the northeast. Allagash tops the list, with an incredible tour, tasting room, and beer. An all around 5 star experience!

Andrew Shapiro

So delicious, friendly, and informative. Tasty beer on the tour. I’m a loyal fan moving forward

Ryan Best

Excellent brewery with an excellent tour. Staff are always incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and welcoming. A great place to visit with excellent Belgian beers, sours, and others.

Jessica Doroba

Lobster BLT from Bite into Maine

Matt Teifke

Wow excellent. Flew in from Austin Texas and was impressed. Wish they had some food but I know that’s a different business. Love it love it love it!!! Cheers from ATX.

Chelsea M

We had so much fun visiting the brewery. We did the free tour and our guide was very knowledgeable about the company and the brewing process. We got to see all kinds of cool stuff and the tour came with 4 samples. The tasting room had a lot to pick from and a gift shop with interesting brand merchandise- stuff you'd actually want to buy, not cheesy. There was also a food truck, corn hole, and lots of seating. I'm not a huge beer person (went for my husband) but they have beers that are very approachable as well as some more interesting small batch brews.

Mike Wood

Friendly staff, terrific beers, great spot, what else is there?

Ramin Akhbari

What a treat it was to visit this awesome brewery and get a behind the scenes look at their dedicated and passionate people, state-of-the-art equipment, and meticulous process for producing one of America's best beers. I don't even consider myself a beer connoisseur, but let me tell you that the Belgian style beer brewed here is on a class all its own. I can't recommend this tour highly enough. You won't regret it.

Bryant Tarr

Best beer around, very fun brewery, take the tour you won’t be sorry. I only go when the bite into Maine food truck is there. Their lobster rolls are as good as the beer!!!

Ben Zimmerman

Ah this place is the best! Carlyle Street right now (4/18/19) is PERFECT - very cidery, wish they could brew it. Bingo was a delight, nice community and plenty of dogs.

Kristen Phelps

Really incredible brewery; definitely worth doing a tour if you're there. Atmosphere is awesome, beer is SO GOOD; get your fix of House Beer while you're there, it's amazing and brewery only! Great merchandise selection too, with some really unique items you won't find at other breweries. This is a must-do if you're in Portland!

kyle

Such a fun place to, not a fan of their beer because its simply not for me but thats not a reason to hold against them. It was a fun atmosphere, really enjoyed the tour and have alot of respect for this company as a result, I would love to come back if im ever in the area.

Boston_242

Love this place, and I'm an die hard Dogfish Head fan

Justin Vieira

The allagash brewing company is a must check out while in Portland. The tour is engaging and informative without going too deep into the details as to not bore you. Additionally, being able to have tastes of the product along the tour is a nice touch that keeps you engaged the entire time. The beers are brewed with a fine attention to detail that you would come to expect. The inside tasting room is on the small side, but the outdoor patio makes up for this. Overall, if you're in the Portland area, stop in for a tour. You won't be disappointed.

Shawn Milliken

One of the best brewery tours I’ve been on and the Belgian inspired brews were fantastic. 10/10 - would recommend.

Katie

Love this place! Pet and baby friendly. Fun for anyone. Indoor and outdoor. Good pricing. Good beer. Friendly people. Music. Options for food too.

Megan Riley

The tour was awesome and we hung out for a while in their tasting room. We loved Allagash White before, but Allagash has my loyalty now. 10/10 brewery.

Robert Murphy

Great place to see a great story about some great beers.

Darrel Taylor

First time in Portland and knew this place had to be the first stop. Great selection of beers that are all tasty. Staff are all amazing and very welcoming. This will now be a tradition for me. Zoe is an amazing individual, Thanks for being you.

Min Ka Tan

Nice place.. good beer.. workers here don’t seems to be the friendliest

Aman Sharma

Really nice brewery, I am not a beer person but still love it. Pet friendly, if you have a dog you will love this place. I have really come here multiple times and I love it every time.

Caitlyn

Favorite beer is Allagash White. Which is rare where I live, so when I came up to visit Portland of course I had to stop at the brewery! Did the tour, and our tour guide Mike was awesome! Enjoyed the sampling of the new beers, and left with a sweatshirt and a case of White! If you are in the area definitely stop, even just to hang out and drink. Outside area is dog friendly too!!!

Walter Bowne

Went once last year. Loved it. Loved the Lobster BLTs at Bite into Maine food truck. Came back again this year. Barrel and Bean is one of the most complex beers we have had. Brought a four pack home to Jersey. Wish I brought a case. Two Lights and Sixteen Counties are also excellent. Two Lights was as our gateway to Brut IPAs.

David Swaciak

Flights are pre selected and not very good. Florette was barely drinkable. The others were all similar. With so many other breweries around I wish I spent my time some where else. I usually love their beer. They just need to allow you to choose flights.

Min Kim

We stopped by on Saturday after Thanksgiving. Taco del Seoul is available. Was crowded enough but not packed. So many cute dogs are welcome too.

Alexander Speciale

Incredible beer and very relaxed and inviting atmosphere. Prices are extremely reasonable too! I would highly recommend

Adrian Orea

Great beer! The tour was fun, entertaining, and amazing!

Grace Young

Came here over the weekend to try some beers on tap. They only do preset flights, but they'll happily pour you a (generous) sample or a half pour of anything for $2. We tried the Sixteen Counties, Shiro's Delight, and Tripel. The Shiro's Delight was definitely the most unique, with strong sour notes of berry throughout. We grabbed a few bottles to take back home to Cambridge with us! I'd happily return. The bartenders are super nice.

Brittany Sibenaller

Very cool brewery. Many cool things on tap. They'll ship your merch for you if you're traveling and have lots of local foods and treats to try.

Valerie Margaret

I love their summer beers, but I wish they had 8oz cans.

Ali M.

Great brewery! Love the vibe here! Highly recommend the tour. Will visit again when in Portland!

David Marcella

Took the tour while in town for the weekend. Has to be made in advance but we were able to schedule for the next day without issue. Lots of great samples during the tour and the outdoor area is excellent!

Jane McGookey

I googled “breweries near Portland me” and was thrilled to see the description “Best food and Drink in Portland” for Allegash. We love the beer but would disagree that there is “great food”. I wouldn’t call the crepes food truck “best food” - don’t expect food when visiting —- Thanks for your reply. While some food trucks are better than others, you do not provide consistent “best food”. I’d be happy to reconsider my rating of the brewery if the food was more accurately described. I would suggest “limited menu”.

Zachary Young

Fantastic brewery that has a nice array of Belgian-styled and aged beers. The tour is one of the best I've been on and appreciate the nice headsets available. Definitely put on your travel list if in Portland.

Manny Lopez

An awesome place to visit! My wife and I came up for our 16th anniversary and being the first time in Maine, we didn't know what to expect. What a treat to come here and be treated to an excellent tour by an excellent staff. To point out an exceptional staff member, Chris, treated us to a special gift for our special day. 10/26/2018. Thank you Chris for your consideration, appreciation and generosity. My wife and I will definitely be coming back!

Beth Roach

Dan gave us an awesome tour. Best brewery tour we have ever taken!

Michele Weber

This was the best brewery tour I have ever been on! The guide was super informative and it was really cool to be able to tour the entire production floor. the beer is fantastic and seeing how the brewery has expanded was really neat. The tasting room is exactly what I want my backyard to look like someday :)

Blair Woerfel

Already a fan of Allagash, but this tipped the scales for me. Excellent little tour, super cheap too. Great sized sample pours along the tour. Great tasting room at the end! I could have stayed in their beer garden for hours.... with the food truck and the lovely atmosphere! Highly recommend the trek out here. Totally worth it! And try a little of everything, even beers you might not think you’d like.

Gary Yao

Do you like beers? Do you like FREE beers? If yes, then this is a must stop if you are in the surrounding area. The free tour includes ample of free sampling with one additional complementary drink outside after you're done. You'll have an opportunity try out some of the prototypes that are not being sold on the market. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and lets you get up close to both the brewing and bottling equipment. Tip: you can reserve in advance online. This secures your spot for a time slot.

Jenna Malley

Allagash White was the first beer I'd tried of theirs at some random taproom in Boston, and I was immediately hooked! I knew I had to make it up to Maine eventually to visit. When I got to the brewery (FINALLY) I was not disappointed. At all. I tried a bunch of different half pours (a lot of the smaller barrel ones) and WOW! I wish I lived in Maine so I could get their brews with more ease... Ended up spending over $100 on small barrel and rarer brews that I couldn't get near me. Wish they were a little cheaper, but worth the cost!

Elizabeth Eubanks

Fantastic tour of the brewery. The guide was knowledgeable and outgoing. We tried four samples of beer and got to take as many pictures as we wanted along the way. Lots of merchandise available for sale too.

Chris Berger

I’ll try and be as considerate as possible here, truly. Personally (just me) I found all the beers to be safe. Super watery and uninspiring. People-pleasers, you could say. The patio area is bizarre because they have blocked off both entrances with chairs and tables. I understand that you want to maximize space and therefore customers, but people need to be able to get under that tarp. Just because no one has said anything thus far (until now), doesn’t mean that it’s not an issue. Lastly, I’ve found (in Maine in particular) that this place, among others, have no sense of the phrase “little taste”, nor the symbolism of two fingers pressed together to elaborate/emphasize the idea of “small.” I asked the guy behind the counter for two “small tastes” of a couple beers (and I squeezed my fingers together, to really get the point across). I did NOT want a flight or two 3oz glasses. I say that because he poured two of them and asked me to cough up my money. I wanted a taste. A splash. I drop. It’s as if he didn’t understand the English language. That, or this place is out to get every penny. Who knows. Then he gave a me a little attitude because I didn’t pay the $6 or whatever. It was his fault for not listening to what I was saying.... I just want to say that I’m from Boulder, CO. I know beer. I really know beer...Being from Colorado, beer capital of the US, doesn’t even matter. MOST breweries here in the US, if not the world, are happy to pour a half inch of beer into a glass so the customer can see if he/she likes it. Hell, they usually do that for multiple beers. One should not have to pay for a sample, or even a flight, if they don’t want to. I will say, however, that a nice woman later on gave me a couple samples, the way it should be. So I’m not saying this brewery is bad, but I will certainly say that I think their staff needs to SLOW DOWN and listen to what the customer is asking, and not assume that every person walking through the door wants a flight or full 3oz poor. I’ll end this review by saying they don’t even have a NE IPA. They’re in Maine for god sake, and this is middle of July. Every other brewery around them (literally, like 20 feet away) has beautiful tasty New England style IPA’s (very murky and hazy looking). This place didn’t. I found everything here to be safe. Mass appeal. Without character or charm. Overall, I was unhappy with my experience but I wish this place luck and I hope they will read this and make some minor changes. If they do, I think it could be top dog on this street!

Lilly Tse

Emily (Griff) that did our tour was amazing, easy to understand all steps towards making a great beer, clear, fun and not boring in the slightest. The beers you get to taste along the way are amazing - great variety. Absolutely awesome from start to finish! For a free tour I didn't expect so much but you definitely get more than you bargained for.

Kait Boss

Great atmosphere inside and out on the patio in a cold winter day! Stopped by before a flight out of Portland and it was a ten minute drive to the airport. Unique beers definitely worth stopping for!

Abbey Wolfe

For those who are new or old to brewing, the Allagash tour will no doubt prove to be informative and fun. With four beer tastings mixed in, the hour tour seemed to finish in a blink of an eye, leaving you informed, curious, and a little happy (there are four tastings after all!). In addition, I found that Allagash has a wide range of beers not found in stores, especially their more "wild" beers (sours, saisons). So if Allagash White isn't your go to, there is a huge variety of options! Absolutely delicious, but do wish they had a wider distribution of these wild beers.

IsItFridayYet

Great time! I took the tour with a group of people from work, it was a blast! Great information on their brewing process and company history, with samples as you go

Luke Jordan

We visited in October on our Honeymoon. The Staff and beer was exceptional. We will definitely be back.

Rohit Jain

Best beer- alagash white.

Brittany Foley

Allagash is an awesome spot to grab a (really incredible) flight and chill with some friends. Great beer and a cool location!

Tim

Spacious tasting room with many beers available. Great tacos at the food truck.

Billy Cooper

One of the greatest breweries on the planet. Amazing beer, caring and knowledgeable staff, and a business model that everyone should follow. Anyone who loves beer needs to come here. Thank you Allagash!

Daryl Lamprey

Amazing brewery to visit! My wife and I stopped in with our 9 month old daughter on a Friday afternoon while on vacation. We didn't want to commit to an hour tour but Emily offered up a shorter tour to accommodate us without us asking. As a homebrewer, it was an amazing experience. You can tell the employees at this brewery are very knowledgeable and love what they do. I would highly recommend Allagash. The highlight of our trip, thanks Emily!!!

Rachel Montgomery

Good option if you're looking for something to do. They offer brewery tours and they have a good variety of beer. A lot of fruity flavors. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. The atmosphere is very laid back. And there is plenty of parking. A flight is $4 so it's inexpensive. The flight is preselected but They also offer half pours if you want to try a variety.

Kate McAllister

This by far was my husband's and mine favorite brewery experience. Being brewery owners ourselves it was very cool to see the ins and outs of this amazing brewery, along with the history. Everyone was so welcoming and accommodating, even sent us home with a goodie bag! Not to mention the beers are absolutely delicious!! Don't miss out on visiting if you're in ther area! You won't be sorry!!

David Mortimer

We had a great time at the Allagash Brewery. Great choices for beer and merchandise all run by a very friendly staff. We really appreciate places that accommodate children and adults - Allagash nailed it. Free juice and Seltzer behind the bar for the kiddos! We would happily go back any time.

Jake Snyder

Love this place. Not a fan of their sours as sour beer is the worst, but they make some other killer stuff.

Vimala S D

Great variety of beers.

Rayce Barnes

Good service, good Belgium style beer and good seating options. Several other brewery’s in the area and across the street. Good location to make a day of tasting several different brewers beer.

Hailey Traver

Allagash was one of our stops on our East coast road trip this summer! We had an awesome time chillin there all afternoon with our puppy. Chis was an amazing tour guide and he gave us an extra solo tour to the Koelschip (which was closed but one of the main reasons we went to Allagash)! Meg gave us some awesome camping recommendations for the surrounding areas. By far the best brewery! Can’t wait to visit again!!

John Croll

Free flight on the free tour! Great beer also, we'll be back

Harleigh Clukey

Great beer, great tour.

Karl Hogans

An amazing time the food was a little over priced but delicious. The flights of every flavor of beer on tap. Plus the employees were amazingly helpful shot out to a hostess (old lady in the front) who went above and beyond.

Knarf Zednelem

I freaking love Allagash. They make some of the best Belgian beer state side. They do flights, and the beer selection is crazy good. There is no limit to what you can get for flights.

Galen Hall

Great staff, super beer, wonderful atmosphere and great music

Chelsea Weldon

Wonderful brewery tour. Our tour guide was engaging and funny. They also provided us with several samples from the brewery. The tour took about an hour and after the tour attendees could hang out at the bar/beer garden.

orlando morgan

Cool brewery, welcoming atmosphere

Guillaume Turcotte

Went for the classic brewery tour, Excellent little tour. Great sized sample pours along the tour. Great tasting room at the end! Even with the rain we stayed for couples of beers.... with the lovely atmosphere! Highly recommend the brewery tour. Totally worth it!

Rodney Sedillo

Thanks to all the staff at Allagash but especially Meg. Thanks for your taking your time with a couple of beer geeks towing a toddler. Such an amazing facility and staff which all translates to such a wonderful product.

Seth Lockman

Great beer, great service. I do wish they had 8oz cans tho

Joshua Clark

Visited the tasting room and it was quite nice! A nice spot to sample some of their beers. They also have a cool selection of merchandise. Next time I go will definitely have to do a (free) brewery tour, but we just walked in and they were all booked for the day.

Jeff Otten

Brian gave a great Classic Tour....on a Sunday at lunchtime no less. Just the right amount of history and detail shared throughout the tour. For those not on the IPA bandwagon, who like me favor Belgian styles, this is the place for you!!!!

John Prescott

Fantastic environment in a cool area. If you’re in the neighborhood stop in. They’ve done a great job of keeping beer reasonably priced while offering different taps inside and out. Easy to take a tour too. Glad we made time and as well there are multiple other breweries within walking distance!

Michael Johnson

One of the oldest breweries in Maine, cranking out amazing barrel aged and funky beers. The tour is top notch and lots of fun. Tap room has lots of awesome shirts and items to help remember your trip. Rare beer releases sometimes causes tap room bottle limits and lines to purchase.

David Murguia

Great atmosphere. Recommend the sours on tap. Loved the outdoor seating area on a sunny day and the tour.

Ryan P

I stopped in because of their great selections of wild and sour beers. I wasn’t disappointed, as the selection was amazing, and they tasted even better. The staff was top notch, super attentive, friendly, and helpful. Check this place out, they have a great patio and taproom space. You definitely won’t be disappointed!

Levi Washburn

We came over Labor Day for a private tour. It. Was. Excellent. Meg was our knowledgeable guide and did an excellent job making our group feel special. Not our first brewery tour but by far the best we’ve had. Excellent atmosphere, delicious beer, and tasty-tart sours. Will return and will recommend

Kurt Belsky

Great beer. I came here and tried a few different 5oz pours - each beer was great, and interesting in its own way. The taproom itself was warm and welcoming. The tour sounded interesting. If I'm ever in Portland again I will definitely return.

Matthew Garcia

So happy to finally make it to one of the OGs of the New England craft beer scene. Beautiful facility with a great indoor taproom and equally great outdoor, covered beer garden. Happened to visit on the day of release for Ghoulschip and James & Julie. Amazing bottle selection as well as a vast draft list in the taproom. One could spend an entire weekend on this street with several other breweries in the neighborhood.

Diana Ward

Great tour. Learned a lot about the brewing process and Maine. Extremely friendly staff. A must do if you are in Portland. They offer free shipping on merchandise, perfect for your souvenirs. Best part the tour was free, just call and make a reservation.

Daniel DeNinno

Allagash never lets me down. The beer is phenomenal, the space is amazing, tours are so cool, you can't go wrong with these guys. This is the pinnacle of all craft brewing. This is it.

Tom Cooper

The Allagash White here is great. I didn't try anything else because the Allagash was so good!

Vincent Fioravanti

Amazing beer. Nice break from the rest of NE and their Hazy IPAs. Andy on the tour was awesome.

Noah Ford-Dunker

Awesome brewery with delicious beer. Usually 12-15 beers on tap and a food truck outside. Many beers available that you can only get at the brewery. It’s of off-sale specialties and souvenirs as well. Definitely worth a stop if you’re in Portland.

Ryan Shannon

Beers that are brewed on another level. The complexity and flavor pallet of each beer is amazing. So well done. For sure a 5 star.

Andrew Desmarais

Great tasting room. Amazing beers.

brett saltzman

Take a tour and either come early or stay after and hang out . Had a great time and they have food truck

J A

Oh my goodness. Words are simply not enough. Good people, good company, qnd so aware of the print they are leaving on the world. They simply took such good care of us and Leah was 100% the best we could have ever asked for. She was so kind, personable, and knowledgeable. Thank you so so much. We could not have enjoyed ourselves more anywhere else <3

Jeff

Beautiful property, tasty beers, fun & free tour by one of the many friendly staff members. This was our first stop in the area upon arriving in Portland, and it was also one of our favorites. The tour itself was an hour, and highlighted how beer was made as well as the history of Allagash. The prices were fair for their beers too. I would suggest scheduling your tour ahead of time. The one last star is withheld because the place closed at 6pm, which seemed early.

Benjamin Storm

My tour of Maine's breweries was spotty at best. Being from the well established beer state of Colorado, I found some of Maine's breweries to be subpar. Allagash was not one of those, and earned itself a top spot in my favorite breweries of all time. It's a friggin' shame it's on the other side of the continent, as I would make this a permanent weekend hangout if it were half as close. Keep up the good work.

Sue Pariseau

Loved the beers and atmosphere

Joseph Crodelle

Kind and knowledgeable staff. Great beers. The tour includes some tastings!

A1K9 LLC

Amazing place, incredible beer & the best part is ... well behaved dogs ARE allowed on the patio! Understandably though.. Dogs are NOT allowed on tours if I remember correctly. Highly recommend to friends and family!

Michael Loesch

The tour was great the beer is awesome. Free beer tasting on the tour. Very family friendly, they even have juices ready for the kids on the tour.

Emily Matthews

Wonderful beer, good price, and friendly staff!

Ashley Singh

Lively atmosphere, great tastes, friendly staff, and amazing samples on the tour. The James Bean was definitely our favorite!

Rocco Mandaglio

Nice tour and tasting room. Great way to rate beers that you could not normally get in your market. A piece of advice-- make a reservation for the tour online.

Erik G

If you have the time, sign up in advance for the tour. Tour was interesting and I enjoyed the different samples provided throughout the tour.

Joseph Malicia

Awesome! Great layout, people, and beer. Cool gifts too!

Gordo King

Celia was incredibly friendly and helpful!!! She was awesome. Amazing Beer too! Thanks!

Eric Eads

Allagash is the standard for New England beer whatever the style.

Natalie Arbour

Alex P was my tour guide on 10/19, SUPURB. Very informative and entertaining all in one. Definitely passionate about what he does. Opened the tour group’s eyes to the wonders of the brewery business. Five stars cross the board. Thank you for a great experience!

Michael Sheridan

So awesome. The deep dive tour was sweet. Totally worth $25.

Teddy Ivey

This was definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Portland. My wife enjoyed it too and she isn't a big fan of beer. The tour was great, led by Meg. After the tour she spent so much time with multiple folks from the group individually in the tasting room. She talked to us about what we like, brought some samples (found one my wife liked!), and even gave us a special drink when she found out it was our anniversary trip. She also took time to recommend other things to do in Portland. Gabe was also great and very friendly in the tasting room. These seem to be some of the most genuine and friendly people I've ever met. It's obvious they love what they do and want to share that joy with others. Even if you're not staying in this area of Portland, it's worth a trip out there. Give yourself time before and after the tour if you decide to book one as you'll want to stick around! The tour and the drinks in the tasting room are all reasonably priced. If we lived closer we would be here often!

Valerie Ammirati

Just a great atmosphere with free tastings poured by passionate folk. Been on a few brewery tours and none have held a candle.

Todd Madar

So...I just had a really irritating experience at a BBQ joint in Austin TX, which made me think back to the exact OPPOSITE (positive) experience I had recently at Allagash Brewing Co. in ME...so I am writing this up! My wife and I had spent some time at the breweries across the street, following a visit to a dying friend. Not realizing the closing time, we headed over to Allagash around 15 minutes after they closed up for the day. Instead of kicking us out, one of their employees invited us in...and offered us some beer to take home...ON the HOUSE! Who does that??? ALLAGASH!!! That's who! Way to make me a customer for life (as if I was not one already!) Their employee realized that we had come out of our way to visit and patronize their business and (even though they had closed for the day) made it so that we could still enjoy their product and made me a PROMOTER for LIFE! Not all businesses figure this out (see my review of a certain BBQ joint in Austin TX). Night and Day experience!!!. Allagash...you rock!!! :)

Victor Zverovich

Very entertaining free tour and great beer, highly recommend to visit.

Kirsten Pagel

We have visited Allagash every summer since 2012, and every experience is better than the last. Any time we come we do the FREE brewery tour, and every time we learn something new about the history and brewing process of this incredible brewery. The tour is really fun and informative, delicious (you get to taste 4 different Allagash beers), and FREE. Just make sure to sign up for a tour a few days ahead of time - they tend to fill up quickly. If you'd rather not take an hour to tour, you can get reasonably priced tastings of a variety of brewery-exclusive beers in their tasting room. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. Allagash quickly became a favorite for us because of the top quality of beer, friendly staff, and creativity in their ever-changing small batch recipes. We will continue to be regular customers and visitors of Allagash for as long as we can!! Highly recommend coming to visit the brewery, since they always have so many more cool choices than you can find in stores/restaurants.

Larry Wawrzenski

Very fun your (great free samples) a very fun and intelligent tour guide with a great personality. the tour is about in hour. OH Yeah the Beer is awesome too.

Guy Labbé

Awesome place, awesome beer. I booked a tour upon yelp community recommendation, with Meg as a guide and it was very worth it. These tours are free, 1 hr long and they are giving very good explanations about the brewing and fermenting process. Tours are usally very basic, but this one is interesting even for advanced homebrewers or craft beer enthusiasts. Plus, you get to taste 4 of their high quality beers. Flights are cheap and the beer on tap is anything but boring. Lots of mixed fermentations, barrel-aged beers... a must go in Portland.

Steven P Taylor

Very friendly atmosphere, nice people and very very good beers!

Andrew Collins

Allagash makes some of the best beer in America...period. It was a dream of mine to make it up to Portland, ME to get to do their tour, which did not disappoint. Our tour guide was obviously loaded with knowledge regarding everything from company history to how beer is made. Along the tour, we stopped several times to sample different beers, making it even that more pleasant. Come to find out, Allagash has a rich history of encouraging employees to come up with their own recipes, some of which have been bottled and sold along the way. The only disappointment for me is that they no longer make their Four Ale, which is probably my favorite beer ever made. However, after a $5 flight sample at the bar, their Sixteen Counties may be a close second. Tours book up quickly, so if you want to go on one, I highly recommend booking online in advance. But their fridges are stocked full with excellent beers and the two bars (one inside and one outside) have great selections as well.

Xiangru Jin

Went for the tour. Very informative and fun. Got to taste some special beer.

Uri Law

Best brewery I've ever been to. Clean, great service/nice people. Excellent beer! Recommend to all beer lovers.

Beautiful location. Amazing selection. It's tucked in next to a handful of other breweries, so you could super easily walk back and forth to all of them for an afternoon. Also, very dog friendly.

Really cool spot, indoor and outdoor seating, dog friendly area, food truck. Belgium style beers, had some good stuff, worth the stop and theres 4 or 5 other breweries in the same block

One of my favorite breweries! There’s a great space that can hold a larger capacity of people and bigger groups. Both indoor and outdoor bars. Great fuse of rustic and modern culture. Really like that it doesn’t smell like a brewery. They have a huge selection of beers to try too! Food trucks are also an option on weekends.

Wow!! What a great brewery!! We had a wonderful tour and had a great tasting alsol. People are super friendly. Food truck outside to have a snack after the visit.

Great atmosphere, food truck was phenomenal, and the beers had a wide range for different palates.

Everything about this place is top-notch. Location, building/outside, staff, prices, and especially the beer. Super dog-friendly also. A must-visit in Maine and for beer fans.

I love Allagash, from the vibe, the people, and the beer, this place is inviting and can keep you hanging out for a while. We visited this past weekend and were lucky enough to be given a few tokens for free drinks as it was our birthdays (we didn't ask for this, they just noticed it on our ID's). As a fan of sour, funky beer, I was in heaven. Much of Portland's beer is in the IPA or Pale Ale family, so it was refreshing to taste and experience something different at Allagash. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. After the brewery closes, go bowling or play in the arcade next door (Spare Time).

Great brewery! This was our second trip to Maine and needless to say our second visit to Allagash. We opted not to do the tour and tried their beer flight. The atmosphere is great and they do offer food as well. The weather was a bit chilly and rainy but their outside patio is covered and heated. Oh and we love the beer... wish we had it in our area!

Fantastically awesome. Plus there was dogs every where which makes them even better.
