For anyone who doubts the holocaust see this museum! Everyone needs to see what freedom truly costs. Freedom is not free!! We must teach our children to never forget those who gave their lives to give us our freedom. I will go back to see it all if I possibly can!

George Underhill

Wow! This should be an all-day visit at a minimum. I arrived at the museum at 9:00 AM and left at 2:30 PM. With 45 minutes for lunch included in that time I really didn't have an in-depth visit. The layout is very good and the depth of the different theaters of the war is impressive. Any history or WWII buff will have a great time here as well as the casual museum go-er. I highly recommend visiting.

Brandon Ballard

What an amazing little pit stop on your way through the museum. Great space, on point decor, happy staff, amazing bloody Mary with cucumber vodka, legit brunch and biscuits/gravy. A gal in the corner plays piano and sings some WW2 period big band songs. Highly highly recommend

Richard Sandy

Well worth visiting but plan to spend entire day. Multiple buildings. One can log dog tags in on kiosk to left of train so do not waste time in line to board train. History is totally from United States perspective.

Maija Jedynak

In depth look at the soldiers' experience and timelines of the war. Excellent exhibits, good food, and actual Higgins boats and fighter/bomber planes in the museum! My only wish is that more about the Holocaust victims and code talkers would have been featured. Also, there's barely any mention of Russia's contribution? But overall amazing.

Winnie C

The best WWII museum I have ever been, quite, clean, the stuff is very helpful. When you r tire, there are many bench for you to watch a movie or listen a real story. Definitely good place for kids to learn history as well.

William B

Absolutely amazing and well worth the price of admission although I was somewhat disappointed that you had to pay extra for movies and other attractions inside the museum. This place is absolutely the state-of-the-art for interactive activities and exhibits. I was particularly impressed by the battle of the bulge display area which featured cold temperatures and simulated snow fall.

Andre Russ

One of the best Museum’s I have ever visited. Had a few hours spare so found it on Google. Ended up there for nearly the whole day. Experience is exceptionally managed and the staff and volunteers are just wonderful.

Bob

Amazing museum. It's like everything ever on the history channel about WWII all in one place. A must visit if you go to NOLA

Ivan Fontane

They are in the middle of building a new area and adding on more to the museum. Overall a great experience and finally a place where being a student counts for something. My admission ticket was $18 instead of $28! You can spend countless hours in there. I would recommend dedicating an entire day just to see everything in the museum.

Giuseppe Scarvaglieri

Just an amazing experience. I did both extra tours' the Submarine and the video. The video... was amazing. Probably best experience I've been in. It's as immersive it can get without doing the universal studios route. You can tell they put the time in to complete. You need easily 5 hours to not rush. I will need to come back as o only had just under 3 hours. To truly appreciate what the entire Country went through, take your time. Watch the videos at each section's and read the placards. The dog tag scanner is aqesome, where you are assigned a person in history. You get to learn about them and collect digital artifacts. A+

Susan Dotson

This is a fantastic museum of history that should not be missed, esp. by youth. It tells the true story. We spent one full day, came back on a second visit just to see this museum. We could have spent two full days. Beautifully set up and there is construction if a couple other buildings going on which will make it a very large complex. There are elevators. Volunteers are nice. We ate at the restaurant and it was impressive. Not just a fast food cafeteria, but delicious choices for a nice sit down break during the day. Easy access to the museum from bus line or walking, depends on your hotel location.

Greg Fleming Jr.

We have been here several times. Each time has been amazing! We always learn something new. I would definitely recommend visiting here if you have not. It is an incredible experience!

Bert Miller

OMG! I would recommend that every American get this experience. A must for this place if it's the only thing you do is go to the "Beyond All Boundaries" play that is done in 4D. That was my first experience with 4D and it was awesome! Seats moved at certain points during the play in high action scenes. It was a great historical lesson told in the best way possible and should be able to catch your children's attention. Highly, highly recommended!

Kevin Sitter

An amazing museum. Well-designed to show America's experience. Excellent staff and amazing volunteers throughout the museum. Plan for hours to enjoy the experience.

Dave SmolikHagen

Awesome experience! One that everyone should experience. It's not just an American history (although much of it is), but everyone needs to remember the past and the "superiority complexes" that led to global warfare. Thought it did an excellent job portraying both history & personal stories. You could EASILY spend 2 days here. Don't miss the "Beyond All Boundaries" movie experience!

aman tomar

Must visit place for folks interested in World War2 and facts about Axis and Allied forces. Though it mostly covers the Great War from U.S prospective but still gives interesting insight into some unknown territory.

Nick Armes

One of the best, if not THE best museum I've ever attended! The exhibits were incredibly detailed, the props were all used during the war--even if you're visiting NOLA for a couple days, this is well worth stopping. Some WWII veterans were in the lobby greetings guests, and it was incredible getting to talk to them and hear their stories, too.

Suzanne Patton

A very satisfying lagniappe to my New Orleans visit earlier this year was the time I spent at the National WWII Museum. My traveling companion really wanted to visit; my parents had highly recommended it from their visit two Thanksgivings earlier. The National World War II Museum is not what most people think of when they plan a trip to NOLA; add it to your list! WWII planes “fly” over the ticketing area. After acquiring your lapel tag at ticketing, start your visit sitting on a train seat imagining you are a soldier heading to parts unknown in an era where digital research simply doesn’t exist. See the phases of battle campaigns told through the experiences of the soldiers and support personnel involved. Switch it around and see the campaign from the perspective of a Japanese or German soldier. Stop for a minute and realize that every soldier in WWII came from a family, a village, and a country. Recognize the patriotism. Appreciate the passion for values. Grieve at the widespread loss. And when you walk out the door at the end of your visit to the National WWII Museum, carry your newly deepened appreciation for freedom with you. I know I did.

Glenn Robertson

This is quite likely one of the single greatest museums I have ever been in. It’s more interactive than most, with audio / video exhibits of individual experiences of the war. It’s also extremely comprehensive, taking a very deep dive into all aspects of the American war effort in World War II. With replicas as well as combat tested aircraft, weapons that saw action and other artifacts of the combat in both the pacific and in Europe, it is an incredible experience not to be missed.

Crissy Bushman

The actual exhibitions are 5 star but each visit has been hit or miss due to staffing / crowds etc. Parking is too expensive, but we park a bit away in the neighborhood across the freeway. Easy peasy. Expect to deal with very large crowds of people who don't understand personal space or that others exist besides them. Do NOT take the first train ride as it's just a marketing trap to get your email address. Its represented like a "ride" but it's absolutely not. You'll end up getting inundated with email marketing. A way around that is to say you are under 13. That way, you'll get assigned a veteran's story without the marketing. Definitely worth checking out. August is the best time to go.

Jamie Cannon

So immersive, full of detailed information. Very modern exhibit design that helps drive home the reality of the war. The restaurant was pretty good too especially for actual food and not just snacks. Was wonderful to speak with an actual WWII veteran as well!

Jerry VanVactor

Exceptional visit and walk through the history of this war. Well laid out, easy to navigate, and displays were very easy to see. The staff, mostly the younger ones, need to put down their phones and pay attention to the patrons around them. They might learn a thing or two from the men and women visiting this museum. Otherwise, very worthwhile visit.

Maximiliano Valencia

This is one of the best museums I’ve ever visited in my life. There’s so much to see and it’s presented in an interesting and chronological way that is easy to follow. I would definitely go back just to polish my knowledge about WWII.

Evan Kase

All the rave reviews and accolades are deserved. There's something for everyone here - whether you're a military history buff, a weapons connoisseur, someone who just loves good storytelling, etc. It captures all the inspirational, the sordid, the heroic, the shameful, the day to day, the bluntly practical, the morally questionable, and the truly horrifying faces of war. We spent 4+ hours, and still couldn't finish everything.

Jimmy Pendleton

What a great display of actual history. You realize how young our heroes are, and the sacrifice they gave for all of our freedoms. The museum did not ignore minority armed forces contributions to the great and terrible war. God Bless America always!!!

Nate Cook

Great museum , but just a little note for those who haven't been. Dear god do not give these people your email address they will spam you like nothing I have ever seen. I still get dozens of emails a week after visiting four years ago.

Lea Loftin

Amazing. So much history. And they have expanded. It will take you a very long time to go through the museum, especially if you are one to read almost every single thing regarding the display, which that is the person my husband is when it comes to history. Anyway, I was able to find a nice comfortable chair downstairs (and they have elevators if stairs are difficult for you). I sat and waited for him to be pushed out because it was closing time.

Bobby Bricker

You cannot see everything in a day if you walk through and actually watch the videos and read the stuff. We only made it to 75 percent and were were cooking moving through and probably missed reading a quieter if the items. It is so detailed and awesome. The stand is very friendly. Be prepared to drop some cash to eat there.

Maggie Pearce

This was one of the best experiences of my life. We went on a field trip to see this museum today. There were so many amazing artifacts. I loves that they also had videos of the actual war. It really let me see how horrifying the whole thing was. They also honor WWII vets very well. I loved it so much. Everyone definitely needs to take the time to go see this museum.

Andrea F

Every time I come, there seems to be an addition to the exhibits. Something is always being added. I have come several times, on my own and with people. The 4-D movie (seats move, water sprays) makes you feel like you are experiencing WWII first hand. I really love coming here. Upon entry, you can get a card for a soldier and find that soldier throughout the exhibits, so it really keeps you on your toes. Everything is so detailed and life like. Again, something has been added with each visit. And the Canteen, which is where you can come for lunch and or dinner is always reasonably priced and good food. The gift shop always has something I really want. I really like bringing visitors and coming by myself. Make sure you head out to the lake to see the PT boat and ride on it. You will not regret that!

Liz Savery

This museum is just wonderful, and it's bigger and better than ever. The history nerds will love it because exhibits are well-researched and wide-ranging. The people that the history nerds drag along will even love it, because it's visual, captivating and there are a number of high-quality movie options. There's even a great restaurant!

Eduardo Ramirez

Huge museum with lots of exhibition halls through several buildings. A state of the art "4-D" theatre showing an exclusive movie. You'll spend hours and hours watching the very well curated exhibits. Lots of memorable photo opportunities. A full service restaurant and a cafeteria inside. Easily accessible by public transportation. A 12 minute walk from Canal St. More museums in the area.

Beth Loreto

It's an emotional visit knowing many lost their life to have our freedom. Love this place too many history and very educational. You've to spent hours of reading one day is Not enough. Definitely the best museum.

Renaud Pelletier

As a non-American I felt this museum was a bit misleading. I can not call the information out right false but it is really populist in its message, doesn't show all the facets of the war and clearly used mainly British/American sources for the information displayed in the museum. It'd be better to call it the American Participation in WWII Museum. Not bad however, the historic pieces, weapons, ammunition, vehicles, maps, outfits are really well preserved and I had a good time there.

Martin McMann

This place is amazing! You'll get lost for hours into all the different videos and displays they offer throughout the museum. Way bigger and much more in detail on each major event of the war then I thought which was a plenty surprise. I took my kids 11 and 15 and even they loved it so great place for the family.

Greg Gruenenfelder

I have been to a fair number of European WWII museums and this ranks pretty highly. It does have a strong America centrist collection, don't think I saw a Russian or British firearm there. It is great for a viewpoint of American involvement!

Nicole Frasik

Fantastically - designed exhibits. Focuses more on battles, artillery, and the Allies' overall victory, however, with few humanitarian references outside of the soldiers' struggles. No mention of the Japanese internment (outside of a brief allusion to anti-Japanese SR sentiment in the US), nor is the Holocaust brought up in significant detail. Presented interesting information all-around though, and is worth a visit.

Ronnie C

Very cool place to visit. A must go if you love to read into our history and take advantage of all the small details here and there. We missed out on the documentary that Tom Hanks comments on but overall was a great experience.

Nichole Girard

This place is massive! It has 4 or 5 buildings in total and if you're someone who reads everything in a museum you'll need more than one day. We only made it through building one, which is the original museum, and saw the 4d movie. The museum is just amazing. I found myself getting a bit emotional a few times. I love the focus on minorities and the roles they played during the war. And I learned some things I never knew about the war. Everyone should go here! I didn't get to follow my personal story assigned to me but you can go through the museum and follow a particular individual assigned to you at entry. It's an amazing way to make war and history personal. I wish I'd had more time to go back and explore more of the buildings.

SUNNY WRIGHT

This museum is amazing. It would take more than a day to see and do everything offered. The theater presentation Beyond All Boundaries is wonderful and so informative. It puts you right into the sights and sounds of the battle. The time spent here is well worth the money and a must do for every American who values their freedom

Kimberly Pulley

I have traveled extensively and been to a lot of museums. This is my favorite even beyond the Smithsonian. It brings personal stories and interviews it brings all the relics to life we were there for 6 hours and still did not do everything and see everything you wanted to do and see. We are definitely going back and it's not just relics. It's items it's stories it's videos it's interviews. This is something everyone should see and it's for all ages. The staff is well-informed very helpful and very cordial. The items in the shops are priced very reasonably. The shows in the Cantina are great. This is definitely a must-see and so worth the trip from anywhere. The fact that it's located in New Orleans as a huge bonus. I would recommend staying in the quarter and you can take the trolley you can take the hop-on-hop-off you can Cabot up there I've already walked up there and it's not a bad stroll on a beautiful day. Go see it

Mikel Severe

It's impossible to describe. It must be seen. Make sure to set aside an entire day or better yet pay the extra 7 bucks and get a second day. You will need it. Be sure to pay for the Beyond all Boundaries 4D film. It's incredible.

Rebecca Harris

This museum really takes two visits to appreciate and digest the information, exhibits and emotions. I would recommend this for families with older children. Text exhibits are augmented with oral narrative and donated artifacts from citizen soldiers.

Nate Church

This place is fantastic. I wish I could have spent 5 more hours there, and I already was there for 4 hours. It is a spectacle of learning and quite enjoyable for any history buff! It is very enjoyable and educational for any trip, definitely a stop to make if you are in New Orleans.

LaDonna Brock

It was really good. Very well done. Lots to see. And very informative. I would highly recommend it!

KC Mitch

You have to go here. One of the best museums I have been to. You think you are done and there is always more. They are adding more and an outside area. Great display of WWII items that were issued. Clean and the volunteers were really helpful. They knew what they were doing and had great advice. Start on the second floor the. Head to the third. Breaks down from WWI then into the second war. Watch the movie. It is worth every penny. I would watch it again if we had more time.

Julia Johnson

It was just as great as we had hoped it'd be. It was easy to navigate with the volunteers helping us go to each exhibit.

Carrie Pizzalato

Amazing museum. Must go for those interested in WWII or anyone visiting NOLA. The expansion really gave the museum a great boost and obviously showed how much the people who donate care. We can't forget WWII and with this museum we never will!

Brian Shillingford

Beautiful Museum. As a WW2 fanatic, I can proudly say that this place is well worth your time. It does a great job of taking you back to the time it's educating you on. Loved it!

Paul Schultz

Great museum! The place is very clean and people are helpful. Can go through at your own pace. Lots to see and learn about. The recounts by people that were there are very interesting to get there perspective. Easily two days worth of stuff to look at.

Darren Gronowski

Absolutely amazing museum! 100% recommend if you have at least 3-4 hours to spare. Probably could have spent the whole day here. Great restaurant as well as a cheaper option. They have their own parking garage right across the street.

Gretchen Lederer

The museum is so important to understanding our history and if you do go please, please pay the up charge for the movie. It is well worth the cost and completely unforgettable. My daughter 19 has gone with me 2x's and has enjoyed each visit and always learns something new. Never Forget!!

Adrian Lee

Had a few hrs to spare and really enjoyed this museum. Well laid out, planes are a sight to see. Would go again

Rachel Moore

This is a very immersive and honest experience of the history of WWII. You get to follow the path of a soldier assigned to you or, if you know of someone who served, you can follow their story. They provide a great mixture of technology and authentic artifacts to let you learn at your own pace. It's an overall sobering and educational experience.

Josephine Fleming

If you purchase a membership you are allowed to memorialize a loved one who served. My father in law would not talk about his time overseas but imagine him landing on Utah beach and surviving and then having to be on the line at Battle of the Bulge in an artillery unit. Not only am I in awe of that in itself but this museum is an absolute reflection of their lives and sacrifices. We spent three hours today and will be heading back to see the rest of the exhibits tomorrow. The workers and docents do an amazing job of answering all types of questions and allow guests to explore some hands on exhibits. We did eat at the main restaurant and it was very nice not a typical museum restaurant.

lstallberg

This is the BEST museum I've ever been to. If you love history, you'll love your experience. The only problem will be you won't have enough time to see it all. So plan for a couple of days at least if you can. My favorite way to get there is by streetcar. It stops about a block from the entrance. There is also a parking garage across the street if you can get a spot, or parking lots a d street parking around the area, just watch the signs. There a few places to enter, so make sure you get to the correct one. It's on the downtown side I believe. Once you enter you are greeted by some employes that will tell you where to go to get your tickets into the museum. You can purchase a membership and avoid the line, but the line moves fast if you don't want a membership. You can add a movie experience, and I would highly recommend that as well.

fred fulford

Really interesting place to visit. Interesting perspective of the second world war. Great exhibitions but it is veru big and alot to cover. Shame you have to pay extra for some different areas. But worth a visit, its gets rather popular in the afternoons.

Brian Maughan

What a great place! History comes alive a little bit while you visit this museum. The movie was incredible, the relics were interesting, the "propaganda" was a refreshing reminder of a time I've only heard about, a time when her citizens were so extremely proud and supportive of America. I thought each section of the war was explained very well.... it was just simply amazing.

Silja Tanner

It's a well-designed museum with a wealth of information. What's great is that the information is split up into bite-sized portions so that processing it isn't mind-blowing. Also, there is an abundance of personal stories that information is attached to. That helps you to understand what people were actually going through. Each visitor is assigned a WWII service person whose story they get to follow throughout their tour of the museum.

D M

We purchased the second day pass, glad we did. This museum is a must see. Very well done. Be sure and see one of the canteen shows. Excellent! The restaurant food is delicious. We spent 2 full days at the museum and came back a third day for the canteen show. My father was in WWII and my mother was a Rosey. This museum is excellent from beginning to end. A must see!!!

Bob Ierien

One of the best historical museums I've ever visited. The displays were very well done, with a good balance between the "big picture" strategic movements and the individual stories of men and women fighting in or affected by the war. Every American should visit this museum and understand what it cost for us to have the freedoms we do.

David Antedomenico

I Highly Recommend you set aside two days to go through this Museum! Make sure you add the 4D movie experience to your ticket! It was awesome. Wasn't as excited about the Tang experience, but kids may like it.

Nidhi Shah

The museum is Amazing!!! It's made for people of all ages and has videos and stories as well. The museum takes hours to complete if you want to read everything so I recommend giving it at least a few hours.

Тарас П'ятковський

The museum is very big so plan your visit for at least for a half of the day. Will be interesting for adults and kids. The floor with the planes is impressive. So if you want to fill some gaps in your history knowledge in a fun way - go there!

Randy Shaw

The museum was well laid out and thought out. A lot of very well-done displays with lots of good facts. I'm afraid the biggest thing it brought out to me was the stupidity of humans to want to wage war on each other so we can control each other. If half of the money, resources and labor that goes into a war where spent on helping one another the world would be so much better off.

David willsey

This is an incredible experience and very well presented. It would take a few days to see everything in detail. I highly recommend adding this activity to your trip. You will not be disappointed. The restaurant has good food also. You can spend all day here and not leave until closing.

Nario Com

Amazing experience. The 4D Movie is touching, educational and entertaining. If you only have an hour or so make sure to buy a ticket for the movie. For the rest of the museum, It takes close to 3 hours to do the museum justice. You can spend less or more and get something out of it. It is designed in a way that it’s educational but entertaining AND authentic. No cutesy stuff. This is war and people died. History buffs will love it but so will neophytes or folks knowing nothing about history. You can cover different areas each visit or all at once: Europe, US and Asia. But it is much more than about World War II. It makes life in the 30’s and 40’s real anywhere in the globe. It is a very authentic look at what you will agree a pivotal time in history. Even if you didn’t think so going in. In fact if you wonder what all the hoopla about WWII is about, spend 30-90 minutes in the place. It will evoke emotions and feelings and give you food for thought and banter for a long time to come. IMO better than all other national museums including those in DC. In this museum history and the story of 65 million people come alive.

Stephen Nichols

Had a blast here! Would recommend 2 days to see everything including the 4D Experience. Definitely heading back when I get the chance.

Ben Smith

Amazing! Definitely recommend visiting the museum. Especially if you're a military history buff. Had a great time and the museum is very well done. Everyone should make time when you are in NOLA.

vladislav velitchko

This museum is a very biased depiction of history. Nothing was objective in this building about telling the story of the war2. If you like propaganda, this is a perfect place to visit...In my opinion this makes the truth impossible to discern for youth who are learning of a struggle which had many participants like Canadian USSR. I guess that everyone giving this museum 5 stars has never been to a museum. You can get a better experience by watching history channel documentaries.

Kyle Purvis

We arrived just after 9am and there was already a line. The line moved at a very efficient pace and we were in. Bring your military ID for a discount, WW2 vets enter for free. The campus is very large, with air conditioned corridors connecting the 5 main buildings. The campus is nothing short of amazing! We spent 5 hrs there and I would have stayed longer if not for my very tired family. The whole place is wheelchair and child stroller accessible/friendly. The a/c is great, the bathrooms are clean, and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. 100% recommend visiting this wonderful museum.

Nichole Aviña

It is a little overwhelming. There is so much information available and it is so beautifully presented. You can easily spend your entire day in here. All of the staff is so friendly and helpful with locating what you are looking for. I can't wait to go again.

rl dwg

Buy the tickets, get the Dog Tag card and start at the train experience. This will guide you through the right way. Can't wait to go again. I learned things about WWII I never knew. Visually entertaining. Must see "Beyond All Boundaries"

Roxane Renee

If you go to New Orleans don't miss this magnifient Museum! We took the St. Charles street car from the French quarter to Jackson station to get to the museum. The museum is clean and spacious with friendly staff. It is very well organized. There is logical flow to the museum. Each section is well balanced with great artifacts and some section has interactive testimonials from veterans! We stayed about 5 hours, however, we could have stayed all day! There is a few gift shops and a sandwich cafe for a quick lunch. It is worth every penny!

Jonathan Rhea

Great museum and a wonderful option if you need to escape the heat or rain while visiting New Orleans. Easily a half day worth of things to see/do and history buffs could definitely spend a full day exploring the museum. I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was

Samara Cullinan

This is a definite must do. The interactive experiences and exhibits were fun, if that can be said of war, and informative. Our son took in every exhibit and made sure to take pictures to show his teachers. It was really humbling to see what the men and women of the allied forces endured and overcame.

Mark Zabel

Of course it's great. Worth going to certainly. Having said that it was rather conventional in its displays, and I didn't get any new points of view on various campaigns, technologies, or military and political strategies and their outcomes. As good as it was, I couldn't help feeling a little disappointed. Maybe I should have gone in with lower expectations.

Kristi Patteson

Best. Museum. Ever. I was blown away by the quality of the exhibits. So amazing! You really need a second day to see it all. Even the on-site restaurant was great. Such a fun experience!

Lakerboy Gaming

Great, interactive exhibits. I would definitely come back. So much to do and learn. I reccomend seeing the 4D movie as well, very insightful.

Christopher Turner

This place was amazing. Far exceeded my expectations. It would be easy to spend 2 days here with all of the amazing exhibits.

Joseph Connor

A very well organized and laid out museum. Allows for a steady pace throughout the different theaters of war with excellent interpretive movies, interviews, and exhibits. You can definitely spend a day and not experience all that they have to offer.

Maria Upthegrove

Incredible Museum. Wonderful exhibits that really bring to life the sacrifice and the mission that the United States undertook to liberate the world from truly evil people. I wish it were possible to have everybody go through this Museum.

Chris McKinney

Museum is simply incredible. So much to see and do, and so immersive. This can easily be far longer than just a one day experience. We upgraded our ticket to include the movie which served as a great overview of what we were about to see. The kids loved the interactive elements of following their soldier through out the museum. I also highly recommend the full service restaurant on the bottom floor past the gift shop. Great atmosphere, great food, great service, and reasonably priced.

Justin S

A LOT of information and imagery. Lots of videos too if you don't feel like reading all the wall data. Amazing experience. Amazing facility.

Brenda

Such a great museum! Both my husband’s father and mine were in WW2 so this was a must see for us. Everything was explained and detailed perfectly. A+++

Donna Smith

What an amazing museum. So much information, and the interactive cards of following a person through that time was very interesting. There is a lot to see and a lot to do. The displays are very easy to see and the staff at the museum were very helpful. The restaurant in the museum had very good food and was a nice break between seeing displays. Plan on spending 5 or more hours here.

Anna Sheffield

There are several new (less than five years old) permanent exhibits that are extremely high quality. We are lucky to have this top-tier museum in New Orleans. I spent 5 hours there and didn’t even see everything. Amazing museum, highly recommend!

Gavin Whitehouse

A huge place with interactive exhibits. The 'Beyond all boundaries' 4D experience is fantastic. You will need at least half a day to get around everything. Worth the admission price

Cori Ershowsky

Not being a museum person I was hesitant to go and spend my day there but it was worth it!!! Definitely a top museum and so impressed with the movie! Don’t miss the movie with Tom hanks as that was definitely a highlight ! Including the movie we spent about 2-3 hours there with no regrets. If you have the time it’s worth it

Joshey Vargas

People kept saying "this is one of the best museums in the country," but trust me, once you go there you will confirm that is indeed one of the best museums in the country. This museum is so interactive that you will feel being part of history in a way you haven't experienced before. Also, you could easily spend 5-6 hours in here. Definitely my New Orleans trip highlight.

Garrett Hill

This was unexpectedly great to me. It was mentioned as the best attraction in Nola, and it is by a wide margin. What I did not know going in is there is a nice restaurant and bar in there. I would have planned on eating there had I known. It's not a cafeteria! We only had a few hours and we're rushed. If you are a museum person and interested in WW II, give yourself 5 hours.

Ken Magee

This place just keeps getting bigger and better every time I go! Whether you're a veteran, history guff, war fan, or just looking for a hugely interesting place to go for a long afternoon, this is defineitly one of the "Don't Miss" attractions in the New Orleans area. Between the exhibits, getting to chat with the volunteers and veterans, or look inside some of the planes, tanks, and boats, this is a great place to go. And to think I had classes way back at the University of New Orleans with the founder and Eisenhower biographer, Dr. Stephen Ambrose! If you haven't read any of his many books, (like Crazy Horse and Custer) you're really missing out on some great reading!

I am a huge WW2 fan, and when visiting New Orleans was sure to make this museum one of the few stops that I made in my free time. I brought my girlfriend who was not previously interested in the subject but agreed to join me as a favor. She left completely curious and extremely interested in the subject, which given her initial stance is pretty incredible in my opinion. The museum provided a solid understanding of the subject geared towards those not already familiar, and I think it does a great job. I would highly recommend this to anyone visiting the area, even non history buffs, as this is an incredibly important and relevant part of our history. 2 thumbs up!

This is an amazingly well done museum. To do it justice, you'll need 2 days but don't let that stop you from going. Excellent exhibitions and space. We'll return.

Robert Thomas

A well laid out museum that provides information and exhibits that will interest all visitors. Multiple visits are needed to take in everything it has to offer.

Kari Osborne

Great museum! Make sure you have a good amount of time because it will take a while to get through it all.

Brian S

You could spend the entire day here, such an overwhelmingly awesome museum. I recommend a minimum of 6 hours. Especially if you want to catch one or two of the movie experiences. Easily the best museum I have ever been to.

Jim Milby

Probably the nicest museum I have been to. A treasure trove of WWII history presented in unique walk through displays an d artifacts. A tribute to the greatest generation and their stories of hardship and sacrifice.

Natalie Winstead

We learned more details about WWII, and appreciated the coverage of so many different aspects and different people's stories. One of the questions on the kiosk at the beginning of the museum experience asked if we had a personal connection with WWII, and we concluded that many people have a personal connection or a close connection through grandparents. Definitely worth the time to learn more about the impact of WWII.

Elizabeth Jenkins

Only had a short time so only able to see 3 exhibits! You need an entire day plus some to see the whole museum. The exhibits are well planned and flow easily. Highly recommended.

Kathi Berger

Had dinner at the museum for a Soaring Valor event honoring the WWII VETS. Amazing experience. Great dinner and great service. Will see more of the museum tomorrow.

Ryan Coulston

We did the Behind the Lines tour. Absolutely amazing to be able to hold historic artifacts in your hand and being allowed to climb into the cockpit of the B24 was great too. I would definitely recommend this museum to everyone, even if they just take the basic tour.

Jay Tooch

Incredibly comprehensive and interesting. I was here for about 3 hours and barely scratched the surface. You could easily spend a full day here. Unfortunately the 4-D movie experience was down for repairs but I didn’t have time for it anyway.

Brandon A

The staff are very helpful and knowledgeable, the exhibits are awe inspiring, very informative, and overall beautifully done. The museum is truly amazing. A fitting tribute to the greatest generation!

Fabio Forte

A must go of you are a history lover. Great exhibitions. I got the chance to meet a ww2 veteran. Plan to spend a good half a day. Try the bar decent food for a good price. Overall a great experience, highly recommend it.

We had a great time visiting here. Ended up spending about 6 hours looking through all the different sections of the museum. We highly recommend visiting. Plus, we ate at the restaurant at the museum and it was very good. I'm sure we'll visit again.

Edie Growden

Highly educational. Lots of information laid out in a user friendly format. . . Multimedia. . . If you don't again information by reading lots of material, perhaps old news relax played at appropriate spots nay help. You are brought into the illusion as though you are a character in the various theaters that made up World War II. Well done Stephen Ambrose and company. Friendly environment, it took our family 7 hours to complete the tour including lunch in the retro Cafe.

Jaigh Riley

I enjoyed this experience. Fun atmosphere and all staff smiled and answered any of my questions accurately and politely. I learned a lot I didn't know. Very interactive experience. Price was reasonable and parking is nearby but paid. Overall I liked the visit and plan on going again.

Robert Snow

Wow ...absolutely phenomenal exhibits. Excellent chronology and presentation. Loved the 4D movie. You'll need more than one visit!

Jason Lovoy

Amazing! Could have spent all day there. Take your time and relax. Afterward walk down to Barrel Proof and enjoy happy hour - half off Old Fashion.

Will Jones

Very enjoyable and sobering experience. Sacrifice and duty are truly on display here. Very detailed information on the European and Pacific campaigns that the U.S. participated in. You can easily spend an entire day if you want. The museum building is beautiful and easy to get to by public transportation. Get there early (opens @ 9AM), lines form quickly.

Matt Hiserodt

Really cool place. Exhibits bring you through the theaters in chronological order. Very modern and well kept. We didn't do the theater, but heard from others it was enjoyable. This is a must stop.

Jonathan Hernandez

It is a truly amazing and heart touching experience it takes a lot of time to explore the museum but it is definitely worth it. I am planning on going back because you really can't take everything in with one visit.

Lori Dohanich

Fantastic museum, but you need most of the week to see it all. We were there a full day and may have seen 20%. It's very well laid out and the docents are very helpful. It seems pretty kid-friendly, too.

joshua matheny

Absolutely amazing. Take your kids and let them learn about our past. I was extremely proud to even see exhibits on the internment camps. A dark piece of American history we tend not to talk about. Yet the museum showed everything the good and the bad.

Tim McKeoun

Amazing, large, interactive museum. Definitely budget at least three hours here. Tons of things to watch and read. My only complaint is that it focused much more on combat and battles than the politics of the war, but that's to be expected. Still an amazing experience!

Jeff Bigelow

The place is truly breathtaking. No description I can give can convey the feeling you get walking g through the exhibits, being completely immersed in them. Plan a multi-day visit though, there is so much to see.

Tariq

Great experience! One of those museums where you feel like you have to go back a second time to really do it justice. Loved the atmosphere and the layout of the exhibits. The way it was set up really set the “scene” and felt immersive.

Gloria Rodriguez

DEFINITELY A MUST SEE ATTRACTION FOR ALL! BEAUTIFUL FACILITY! IT BROUGHT ME TO TEARS, I'VE ALWAYS SUPPORTED OUR MILITARY. BUT EVEN MORE SO NOW! THE BEST PART WAS WE ACTUALLY GOT TO MEET AND TALK TO TWO WWII VETERANS AND THEY SHARED THEIR STORIES

Adam C

WWII museum spread across several buildings. Garage parking available although we were able to walk from our hotel in the Central Business District. Many high-tech exhibits. See website for pricing regarding general admission (starting at about $30 per adult). Movie tickets and special exhibits are not included in general admission (example - WWII movie including Tom Hanks is not included in general price). Took about 4-5 hours to complete. Some sections are very well-done, others seem rushed, one or two are old. This is a very good museum, although the WWII museum in Fredricksburg, TX is better. Did not dine at the restaurant on-site or the 'malt shop,' although both restaurants looked appetizing and clean.

Micayla Yorski

Beautiful building. Very interactive and informative! I will say if you know a lot about WWII already then you may be underwhelmed, but there’s definitely still a lot of interesting information to take in. Check out the Tom Hanks 4D movie!

Anthony Woo

Wow. This place was simply amazing! I felt like a child in a candy store here. I love anything WW2 related, and I could have spent HOURS here. Too bad I only had a few hours to get through it all, but I will def. be back. the movie is also worth the $7.00. Such an amazing place.

Chris Homer

This museum has a number of great exhibits! Make sure you have time to see them all! Plan your route through the museum intelligently to minimize backtracking. The audio stories told by the actual soldiers, etc. Are some of the most intense experiences and seemed to be overlooked by many people as they were passing through. Take a minute to sit and listen, they are worth it.

Bob Byrd

Very educational in an awe inspiring way. The museum does a wonderful job of demonstrating the vast coordination of manpower, technology, and patriotism to give the Allies a fighting chance. What started as a D-Day museum has escalated to encompass much more or WWII. When I went they were constructing more sections as well!

Clint

Excellent visit. If you are in NOLA. Definitely make plans to visit. It will not disappoint.

Moondoggie

I went inside briefly to cool off from the heat. You will need at least four hours to comprehensively go through many of the exhibitions. Great place for history bluffs! Beautifully curated museum and interactive exhibits.

Traxson Hallagan

Wow!! This was excellent and SO glad we did it. It was a very well laid out museum full of artifacts, movies and history. It was a ton of information to absorb, but well worth the time if you are looking for something to do away from the craziness of Bourbon Street for a while.
