An amazing place to visit while in Lexington! We spent the day.
Super first visit especially if all you know about horses is from TV and movies. Very educational and entertaining. Get there by 10:30am to take the optional trolley ride and brief orientation of park. Then you can go from one to another exhibits as they are timed to finish just before another one starts. Stay on the property for lunch to give yourself enough time to see it all.
I attended the dog show which was good. The visitor center was closed for remodel so I couldn't go thru.
I attend Run/Walk Club as well as other events. The grounds are gorgeous and educational. My toddler loves their playground and my whole family enjoys seeing the gorgeous horses. They have a really nice gift shop, especially for horse related toys.
Very interesting, hosted our grand daughter age 7.she had a trail ride .Wonderful experience All the children seem to enjoy day.
A must go if you visit Kentucky. My family and I really enjoyed ourselves here. Alot to see and do. They have shows throughout the day and trolley rides as well. There are shows and a museum that goes through history of the horse. Worth the money and very good place to take the family.
Would recommend this stop to anyone whether you are a horse lover or not. it was very educational about horses. The up close encounters we're very well done. The trolley ride is a must. If you can get there early do the 10 one and it will help you understand the grounds a lot better. There was a show going on when we went and we also had admission to that. Highly recommended for kids of all ages.
Great way to spend a few hours with the BEST horse racing has to offer.
Fantastic place for all things equine. Lush grounds and great facilities certainly demonstrate Lexigton's love and respect for horses. It was great to see numerous types and breeds as well as national and international champions. It's a great place for families and horse lovers.
Dog friendly. Horses are amazing. Well suited to being around dogs. They've done an excellent job celebrating the amazing horses past and present.
Love the place. But disappointed that you can't see any of the horses except 2 times a day and it's morning times... otherwise love it
We've been several times....always fun always something new to do!
Very nice visit. So much information on the horse. Reasonable price for 2 days. Parking is 5 dollars per day. Bathrooms are clean. I enjoyed the horse museum.
Super fun place. It does give you an idea of how the horse parks and such run. Also a great way to see world class racing horses.
Great experience for families and children. They have examples of several horse breeds that perform quick shows and you can meet the horse and rider after. There is a decent sized museum on the history of the horse. The park also provides horse drawn carriage rides, children's barn to learn about horse grooming and champion horses. A good day or half day experience.
This was our first visit to Lexington and we chose to come to this park because of the horses and Kentucky’s history with these beautiful animals. The staff is very nice, the horses are amazing, the shows are great, and the horse riders answer all questions at the end of each show which is nice. At the end, we had a nice horse trolley ride to finish our visit. After that, we visited the museums which are great. Overall, a must see place for horse lovers.
Wow, awesome place to spend a whole day!
Big events several times a year. They compliment a permanent setup that is worth a full day at least to visit.
If you love horses you will really enjoy the experience!
Great place to walk around. Everyone there takes great care of the horses and can tell you an abundance of information. We had a great time.
Great facility. Got to see breeds not native to us. A rated jumping show going on! Friendly staff
Completely recommend Kentucky Horse Park as a place to visit in Lexington. The Man O' War memorial was fantastic. If you have any interest in the history of horse racing, don't miss this place.
I'd advise coming early and staying the whole day. If you want a chance to ride horses you'll need to arrive as early as possible as they get snatched up quickly. There are shows that only happen once a day and those are early in the day. I highly recommend this facility if you love horses. There is no better place in Kentucky to go and be among these beautiful animals while learning more about them. The only better experience you might hope for is owning your own horse.
Was not fond of the park. Was treated 2x like a child doing something wrong when I was well away from a horse at all times. If you don't know much about horses it works...otherwise not a big thrill. Would not go back!
Just a fantastic experience. Camping was fun. Well worth a visit.
Big beautiful place! The horse breeds show was our favorite and the museum is much bigger and more interesting than I anticipated. We will be back! Headsup: the "trail ride" is through the open field, at a slow plodding pace. So if it is a very hot day, it may not be very enjoyable.
Very nice campground. Great pool! Only thing I wish they had dog waste trash cans around the grounds. This would help with the amount of waste we encountered. Also wish they had a dog park.
Nice museum's. Very friendly, helpful people. We went at end of winter season so not many things open. Will have to return in the summer!
Awesome park! Everything is well cleaned and taken care of. Just beautiful horses too.
The is a beautiful facility, both I doors and out! There are arenas where you can watch dressage events, and races. You can meet and greet horses of all breeds and learn their functionality and heritage. There are mounted police here where you can see the horse breeds and learn their selection process for the job they do. The museum of equine history rivals those of the Smithsonian with interactive displays for children and adults alike. The racing world is represented as well! There is a restaurant onsite with hot and cold offerings. If you stay at the Kentucky horse park campground your admission is at a reduced rate.
Great experience, the horses were beautiful and well mannered and calm. The guides helped make it a very scenic and fun ride.
Excellent place you actually get to interact with horses and plenty of photo oops. With the horses
We totally enjoyed this experience of learning about horses and getting to see some of them up close. You could do as much or as little as you wanted. it's well organized and you are able to see some shows and also wander as fast or as slow as you choose. The staff have a great depth of knowledge and are willing to answer any questions. You can see much of this in two to three hours. But you could easily spend more time. The facilities are extremely well maintained and spotless.
Wonderful! Loved it but needs to be more senior citizen and handicap friendly. Lots of walking and too few places to sit and rest.
Worth a visit if you are driving by and are an equestrian. Lots of interesting horse history. Competitions here are second to none for US events.
Very disappointing. Paid $5.00 to park for 2 vehicles, we had read great reviews online. Stopped special for my 13 year old granddaughter and my 8 month old grandson to see the horses. My daughters went to information desk, waited in line, got to the older woman at the desk and explained we were traveling and didn’t have a whole lot of time but wanted to see what we could. It was listed that there were lots of free things to see and do. When the girls asked what was “free” the woman pointed to the door and told them to walk around outside, but no real horses would be seen!!! Won’t ever return. Disappointed in Michigan.
I enjoyed being able to hear the stories of each horse and being able to touch them. The demonstrations are in buildings with bleacher seating, so it's a good mix of walking between buildings and sitting for the demo.
Lots of walking (it's a self guided walking tour), but very interesting place to visit. Different breeds of horses. Some you never heard of. Shows, museum, etc. Worth the price of admission.
The horseback riding was laid back and so enjoyable. Many beautiful animals live here. Lots of walking to do. It is easy to get confused as to where events are located. Directional signs would be a big help.
Beautiful scenery and very pleasant employees. Highly recommended
Kinda pricey so give yourself the full day to get your full value, also nice that you can come back the next day. Appreciated the excellent museum exhibits on display at various buildings on site. Our kiddo loved it when she was able to interact with the horses. Skip the $5 pony ride if your kid is over 6 or 7 years old. The $25 horse ride is well worth it so we regretted going with the cheaper decision. The grounds and buildings were all beautiful and well taken care of.
We didn't have nearly enough time to explore this park. The life that retired race horses that's life here is one to be envied. Wonderful, caring staff and volunteers pamper the residents here and treat visitors wonderfully. This was just a stop on a longer trip, but we enjoyed the experience and could have easily spent two or three times as much time here. We were able to see quite a bit of the grounds, but missed the horse museum - we'll have to make another trip to catch that, as it looked quite remarkable as well.
Great first impression, beautiful grounds. Staff was super friendly and eager to help. Lots of horses, including several rare breeds. Something for everyone. Also they are veteran friendly, got in for half price with my ID! Only negative comment, some of the buildings are in disrepair but there was work being done while we were there. All in all, WELL worth the trip!
Absolutely beautiful place to visit and a must for any horse lover! The grounds are well kept and beautiful. The facilities are clean and the horses are very well taken care of. It's quite amazing to be able to be up close with champion horses, be able to interact with them, and learn about the different breeds. I took my mother here for mother's day and she was in love. You definitely need to see Go for Gin and Funny Cide. I can't wait to go back!
Exquisite facility for all but especially for the horse lovers of the world. A must see. Beautiful grounds and the museum is first class.
Absolutely beautiful facility. Great family time together place. Can't wait until we return.
The admission seemed pricey for one day but we were told with our receipt we could come again the next day. The care takers are nice and willing to answer questions. The grounds are well kept and facilities well maintained. The only issue I had was no changing station at a bathroom I visited.
A must if you love horses. Lots to see, learn and pet. Incredible displays and wide variety of live, beautiful horses. Staff is very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Enjoy!
The most amazing place in the country for all types of horse people.
Beautiful experience! Horses are magnificent! Very clean, staff informative.
Loved being able to walk the park, see the horses and demonstrations. We went on a September weekday, so it felt like we had the place all to ourselves. Helpful staff. Tons of reading in the museum.
It was nice if your into horses. Found it also interesting.
Loved seeing and learning about the different breeds. My granddaughter loved the pony ride and playground.
Awesome! Very peaceful and majestic grounds. Tons of horses. Many different breeds. Very entertaining and educational. Two horse museums and much more. My wife and I made a day trip of it from Louisville, a little over an hour away. All the personnel were extremely nice.
Nice park with beautiful, well-cared for horses. The museums are informative and the breeds show is great.
Wonderful experience - was there from open to close on an overcast spring day. Crowd was light as a result which was great, but they can accommodate a lot of people. Be sure to check out the big barn, and the actual museum (International Museum of the Horse). Would give this more stars if I could.
A lot more to see and do than you'd imagine. We camped. Clean rest rooms. Museum can be a full day. Breeds from around the world with native costuming. Loved the small arena of Champions where a movie tells the story of one particular horse and then that horse appears in the flesh to meet you! Very impactful.
Web site was different from the actual time. Person at the booth was not informative. Web site said there were tours at 815 am. We got there before 8am and wasn't told they didn't open until 9am. Asked for a refund for parking and she …
More concession stands would be great, but we really enjoyed our visit there.
Paid the parking fee only to get to the main building and find out that I now had to pay an entrance fee to get into the park. Parking: $5 Entrance fee: $25 Wasn't a lot but I did feel a little blind-sided. Wish they lumped the two together or included he pricing on the entrance sign. Didn't go into the park, but loved what I saw from the outside. And they have the cutest little shop, a bit pricey but some of the money goes back into the upkeep of the park.
Lots and lots of walking but beautiful place! Paths are paved. Lots to learn and see. Everyone wants to teach you something or share a story. Even in the gift shop, one employee asked if we wanted to hear the story about the tee shirt design and how it came this year's design. All shows and museums included in entrance fee. Most shows are short, maybe 20 minutes, leaving plenty of time to walk to next barn for another show. Clean restrooms, beautiful wild flowers and shade trees. Plan to stay the whole day. We loved it!
Well worth the trip if you love horses, great family environment!
Very informative and lots of meet and greet former zillion $ champions. Theatre, museum of racing with tropheys, jerseys, etc. Carriage museum. Museum of different countries horse breeding. Trolley to transport you around the huge farm. Nice gift shop.
Spent 6 hours and don't think we seen everything. For $20, you can go back a second day for free if you want and see the rest. Parking is $5 each day. Enjoyed the shows and the museum. One museum was closed for renovations.
Beautiful place, had a wonderful time visiting the museum that is inside the park. Worth going, lots to see and learn. I enjoyed the Parade of Horses and the presentation about the retired Derbi champions.
A great place to take the family. Lots of activities. A superb spot for a picnic, and many gorgeous horses to see.
I guess for the horse lover this place would be heaven but that's not me. It was very informational, maybe a bit too much. There is a lot to process here. Who knew there was so much to know about horses. Kinda fitting for Kentucky. Besides …
LOVE this place! I would move in and live here if I could! I have been coming here for pony finals for MANY years and even before the Alltech Arena and Rolex Arena were built and it was even great back then! Of course now it’s even more amazing! It’s so sad when we have to pack up to go home! Footing is always perfect, maintenance is up to par and barns are clean. Bathrooms are everywhere and clean!
Showcases beautiful horses in a well groomed park. Lots of interesting events going on all the time.
Was in town visiting my daughter and lucked out that it was during Hats Off Day at the Kentucky Horse Park. "This family-friendly day of activities takes place from 4-10 p.m. including horse and pony rides, face painting, inflatables, interactive educational booths and a Grand Prix show jumping competition." It was a beautiful day.
Campground was clean, roomy, very nice place to stay to visit the nearby Horse Park. In fact, a great place to camp even if you don't visit the Horse Park but I highly recommend visiting there. Horse Park is well worth a visit with absolutely everything related to horses. Visit several museums, interact with live horses, view live horse demonstrations, ride horse-drawn trolly. Very friendly and helpful staff everywhere I went. The ONLY downside to the horse Park is all the walking that is required, you must park and walk (a lot!). Highly recommend both the campground and the Horse Park.
The park itself was nice I guess....but I was there for Bryerfest which was a complete mess. Not enough food choices...waited an hour for a bus. No place to sit. Never again!
Love the KY Horse Park! Several different shows held twice daily. Good for the entire family. Expect to do a lot of walking.
Kentucky Horse Park is a 1,032 acre horse paradise. There are so many things to see, do and learn one barely knows where to start. Pass that I got was good for 2 days and I barely scratched the surface. Loved the Hall of Champions, Parade of Breeds, the Horse-Drawn Trolley, and museums. Go explore and enjoy.
Our girls loved riding the horses and the ponies. There was lots to see and do. You are missing out on Kentucky heritage if you miss this place.
If you love horses then this place is definitely worth the visit... You will have many horse activities taking place around the park.. and only very few activities like riding the horse etc will have additional charge other than that all shows are included in main admission... Also it is valid for one and half days..Good place to visit
Beautiful farm/park... load's of great information. Love being so close to the horses.
Cool place to visit. They have a lot of shows and demonstrations with the horses. Museum is huge too.
Had good time watching shows and nice ride.
Always a good time. If your a camper don't be surprised to have to mess around with the utilities though. The electric and water hook ups at some spots are getting shabby.
Wonderful experience. Great place to take your kids if you're looking for something to do for the day. I would recommend going in the summer when it's beautiful out, all the horses are present and the restaurant is open!
What a fun and welcoming experience! I went on a horse back ride that was definitely worth the money! My guide was so sweet and I was able to get to know her throughout the ride. I’m not sure what her name (she is in pictures below!) was but she deserves a raise, she helped me (a person who hasn’t ridden before) feel confident riding and have a great time doing so. I would keep her around for as long as you can because it definitely makes the experience better. The horses were beautiful and treated amazing. My horse Gary, obviously has to be my favorite. Overall great customer service and experience.
A must see! Great place, beautiful and informative.
Always a 5 star experience. Worth the money.
This is a must visit place! We absolutely loved it. Will be visiting again really soon!!! Everyone we came in contact with was super nice. Very clean. Lots of interesting information and lots of horses to see. They have shows and rides also. We was able to pet a past derby winner .
One of our absolute favorite places in all of Lexington. From April - October you can always find a show to watch here and most are free. Of course, there is the huge 3 day event, Land Rover. They have a great facility where they host a lot of special events which is the Altech Arena. The museum and grounds are stunning. Great place to spend the day no matter the weather. Get up close and personal with the horses. See their breeds show and spend time meandering through the museum. There is a restaurant on site, so you can make a full day of it.
Love this place! I've gone to the 3 day event four times now and will keep coming back. Gets better every year.
The horses, the history, the memories. They had horseback riding, shows, and beautiful horses.
This place is incredible. Visited from GA with 70 year old parents and my 5 and 8 year old daughters. We stayed for 5 hours. Beautiful grounds and horses. The tours, parade of horses, winning circle, etc were all incredible. Excellent …
Great place for the American Eventing Championships. Plenty is space for over the thousand horses in the competition and of course great facilities.
Fantastic day was had by us today. We were able to relax and ride horses while learning about some history. Highly recommend going to check out the Kentucky Horse Park of Lexington!
Would not recommend the trail ride. The woman at the counter signed us up and printed the recipe without asking the time we wanted. There were no refunds, or switching of times, so we had to buy new tickets, which were $25 each. The horses had no break between rides, which were roughly 40 minutes long on a day of 90°. Bridles and saddles were not removed during “breaks” where they unloaded one group and put in the next. Horses could not properly drink with bridles on, and many were sweating profusely from their hind quarters. Several had harmed marks on their muzzles, including scabs, indicative of tight or poor harnesses/bridles. Around 20-30 horses are cramped in a tiny space as people are loaded. Riders were told to let the horse wander as the rest were loading, but within the tight space many horses pinned their ears, a warning before one bites. The horse I rode even spooked in this tiny space. During the ride, riders are encouraged to keep horses nose-to-butt in space, which is very dangerous. Mine actually tried biting the horse in front of me. The workers were helpful and kind, but when we got back the next group was loaded right after, leading me to believe there is no break for these horses. The ride itself was fairly uneventful, which was nice but I was hoping for a bit of a talk about the park as it was labeled as a “guided tour.” Overall I would not recommend, especially considering the poor condition of the horses. My only regret was not taking photos of it all, as my pants did not have pockets. That and the waste of money.
We were there during the Breyerfest. It was neat seeing the horses show as well as up close in the stables. The park has several horse related venues as well as a horse related museum. They also have a nice campground on site.
My wife and I visited and toured the International Museum of the Horse. It was interesting, starting back in the BC era and carried you thru to today. We did not attend any of the myriad of planned functions that run in a regular schedule every day of the year. We were disappointed in how many lights were out that spotlight specific exhibits in the museum. I mean, how hard is it to change a lightbulb? This is, I think, a state-owned facility, so I guess that explains part of it. Shame on them, especially just a week after Derby Day. You would think they might have made a little extra effort to get things shop-shape for Derby Day. We also drove around the facility and saw most of it. It is HUGE with horses all over the place. If you love horses, or have young girls that love horses, THIS IS A MUST SEE PLACE IN LEXINGTON. Activities start at 10am so get there then, and plan to stay for most of the day until the horses are put out to pasture late in the day. They have dozens of breeds at the park from draft horses to thoroughbreds and you can see them all.
This place is awesome! It was very nice to be able to actuallygo somewhere public that will let u smoke freely outdoors but not in any buildings or barns and not a butt one on the ground! You can actually pet pretty much any horse there and the people working there are all friendly and knowledgeable. They allow u to carry bags in as well. I'm glad people who aren't responsible haven't ruined it for three rest of us at this place yet! Very beautiful grounds as animals. Rich in history.
Lots to do and learn. Staff very polite and helpful
This place is HUGE! Ever horse person's dream, but make sure you know which building you're going to. So far it's great but could use better, more meaningful signage.
Such a beautiful park and show ground. Every horseman should visit at least once!
We absolutely LOVED our experience. We all came away with a wealth of information. I only have one concern, we did the trail ride and the lead lady was on her cellphone having a conversation. I felt that was very in professional. I would like to mention the the park is spotless. We also loved your museum.
Friendly people. Great exhibits and demonstrations. Good price and easy access. Lots to learn and experience there
Absolutely beautiful park with lots to do and see. Workers are very knowledgeable and friendly.
Learned so much and got to see so many breeds of horses Love the history and the details in the museum
Very interesting place to visit. Great horse stables, you can get up close to the horses. Interesting demonstrations. Great for children. Even a wonderful museum - everything horses
Love it. And over 1000 acers to ride on. Great for couples and there is distilleries very close that I want to see
We met here 31 years ago. Came back to celebrate our 30th anniversary. Park is still great and kept very clean.
Bad experience. They let us in but never told us nothing was opened for another hour. Difficulty getting the payment for parking reimbursed. They were not very helpful or informative. I've been to other parks that give information on the place, what's available, times of things going on, and a map. They didn't seem at all interested in pleasing the customer.
Place is huge with so many beautiful horses went there for Breyer fest very fun but needs better shuttle service
This place is amazing, come early to catch the shows!
Horse lovers paradise. Be sure to allow lots of time for many exhibits.
Its really nice there, we watched competitive horse racing from around the world for the hats off day and they had special events for the kids
Love this place. Beautiful grounds, lots to see and do. Check the schedule of events for many genres of equine riding specialties
Great place to learn about magnificent animals that bring so much to people
A wonderful way to spend an entertaining and educational day! I have been a horse owner in the past, but I learned a lot about the different breeds. Don't pay attention to the reviews that say it isn't worth it just because one museum is mostly closed and another partially. The big attraction is the horses and the many horse demos and talks...draft horse demos, two different breeds demos/talks, a champion talk/ display, many barns and buildings full of information, items, and interest. Don't forget the draft horse trolley ride, kids barn with amazing interactive displays, an lots of statues Most people spend the whole day. Staff was wonderful. Costs $20 adults, $18 seniors, $10 military.
A lot more to see and do than you'd imagine. We camped. Clean rest rooms. Museum can be a full day.
Admission to the park was a fair price ($12) for adults. Access to the barns with all the different horses was really fun. We weren't there during the summer events so didn't get to enjoy the full experience. Overall, I would recommend this park to others.
Beautiful place! Lots of history. Anyone who appreciates horse racing and horses will love it!
Was there for Breyer fest again. Park was super packed but the crowds were well managed. Interaction with park staff was always very good.
Great place to visit for all ages. Lots of beautiful scenery and horses to see in the park. The mesuem offers a nice place to learn and relax indoors if any one in the party needs a break from the weather of the day.
It was nice to walk around and see the shows and horses. It would have been nice to be able to have more interaction with the horses while in the park. Very brief interaction after shows, but not accessible beyond that to my knowledge unless you pay for a riding session.
Beautiful place, wonderful staff. The restaurant is so so but a great place to visit.
It was wonderful! Though I recommend going when it is below 90°. The horses are just beautiful and the history is quite interesting. The story of some of these horses are amazing and just all around great.
If you love anything about horses, you will dig the interaction with beautiful horses, so much information & history, & much, much, more!
A wonderful place to spend the day. You can learn more every visit. The shows are never stale, always interesting and entertaining. The museum alone, is worth the price of admission. Book a tour of the horse farms too. Guides are very knowledgeable and entertaining.
Needs more restrooms around. Easy for drivers to park a trailer and go.
Lots to see and do. We are 78 and 80 years young. We used our mobility scooters to get around. Seeing great horses up close and learning of their accomplishments was truly a treat. Very clean restrooms. Nice informative staff.
Very neat can't believe I live this close for this long and have not been . Very cool setup and shows the big barn can not be missed wow those are some big horses . Very cool place for the price
All things Horses. Complete history on the heritage and history of the horse. If you like and/or love horses, then this is a must see site.
Really liked the place. Very peaceful, the horses we're very good-natured.
This place is incredible! Great for every age!
Everyone in our family thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the park. Highly recommend a visit for anyone!
Such a beautiful place; the "Kentucky experience" isn't complete without a visit here!
For a horse lover this place is a dream. Petting and interactions with the horses was great. Kids did the pony ride. Staff was super friendly. Love this place.
Great place. Getting up close to Kentucky Derby winners was amazing.
Beautiful park with video overview, horse riding for kids. Local history. Nice place to walk around & observe/learn. Worth the visit. Allow a day or at least afternoon.
Amazing place to learn about horses, breeds, and their history.
Love this place! Always enjoy going. Love the trains. That is probably my favorite thing to see. Great kettle corn and funnel cakes. Plus the added carousel was a great bonus. Only downside. Price a little steep
If you love horses this is the place to see a wide variety.
We enjoyed our trip here. The grounds are beautiful, and it does offer a chance for the kids to get close to the horses and learn a lot about them. Our kids enjoyed the pony rides and the kids barn. There are a lot of museums on the grounds, so it was difficult to see everything with young kids as it requires a lot of walking to get to everything. I would recommend visiting in spring or fall when temperatures are more tolerable than the 90 degree heat we experienced in late June. There are a lot of outdoor exhibit s including the parade of breeds. The park is thoughtfully built to provide shade at the exhibits, but the heat can still be taxing. The staff was extremely courteous at the park, and multiple members offer rides on golf carts to get around the grounds if needed. This is definitely a worthwhile experience when visiting Lexington.
