REVIEWS OF Churchill Downs IN Kentucky

c parker

Worth visiting even on non race days. Nice little tour.

Megan Resnik

I won box seats for Wednesday races during Derby Week. I took my 2 kids. They had a blast. I enjoyed myself. We had a fabulous time. Granted, I spent way too much money but we will be back. Churchill Downs is a fun place for the family.

jeri ann johnson

Beautiful place. Food was delicious. Horse racing at its finest! Good times with good friends.

Colleen Duranceau

Love Churchill Downs! Got soaked two years in a row. Lost to the first major scandal ever, forgot to post this, and had a BLAST!

Amber Georgeou

It gets a little crazy here with the crowds but always a great time and the staff who take bets are fun to work with. Newbies can ask questions and experts can get the job done promptly. Happy betting!

Jana Carter

Reviews just for customer service... by the time I finally talked to someone online they were not very friendly/made me feel stupid for asking about the live races. She laughed and say “they aren’t until the 27th of this month” aka like week away... that’s why I was calling to ask

Ben Maldonado

Stopped when we were in town for a few days. Cheap to get in but the beers are a little expensive but not terrible. Fun to see everyone dressed well at a horse race for once!

Sylvia Smith

I really enjoyed my visit, the atmosphere was great and watching the horses race was exciting. Would like to visit again.

Sean O'Connor

I was really impressed. A beautiful place with a lot of history. A very well designed museum and put tour guide Barry was super informative, charming and clearly very passionate about the Derby. I'm not even a huge horse racing fan but had a great time and came away with a greater appreciation for the sport. They also serve mint julips and bourbon flights. A good amount of interactive exhibits. A cool 360 degree movie experience and pretty good food at the cafe.

Bunni Cruz

It was our first time and we all had a great time. I plan to come back again next year for the derby. Great people from all over and great food n drinks!!

Meaghan Bishoff

We went for the Thursday night races. So fun and relaxed. A great family active.

Paranormal Society

We took the tour here and it was an amazing experience. It was well worth the money to see the history and the legend behind the Kentucky derby. If you are ever in Louisville I would stop by and take the tour. You would not regret it. The ladies giving the tour were also the best in the business and were super professional. Good job!

Angela Spruill

You get your money's worth for the visit but located in the ghetto area. Staff was very helpful and patient. Lived the history they shared.

Melissa Phillips

A can't miss for anyone visiting Louisville. Staff was so welcoming and helpful. Took my elderly mother and they offered assistance with getting to our car. We were on Millionaires Row with a group. Food was so good. I recommend this experience.

Mark Wright

Visited on a work sponsered employee day and family day at Churchill Downs. Many animals to pet and feed. Many kid rides and wonderful horse races. Staff are just great people. Friendly and very helpful. Had a great time.

Marian Kremer

Siblings at the races!. We were in millionaires row. Only $40 PER PERSON! We had a great meal and our server was very personable. We had a great time!

David Belanger

Was a great experience can't wait to do it again

Gran and Grampy

The tours of Churchill Downs given by Kentucky Derby museum work phenomenal. Second to none. That museum is first class all the way!

Sharon Mellon

Absolutely beautiful and fun! Great place to people watch. Prices are a little high-tech if you can win a bet-you are all set

Ken Ferentchak

Very interesting place. Did a behind the scenes tour that was outstanding. Will definitely come back.

Alva Cunningham

This was my first time here at this place. Betting on the houses and winning. And seeing all kinds of people wearing fancy hats and there outfits were awesome. I had a good time at Churchill Downs.

Wendy Garone

Kentucky Derby. Beautiful park, well manicured, good drinks ($15), seating in the fourth row from the track for 2..$450 each. Couldn't hardly see a thing even standing on the bench. Lots of imaginative outfits. Very happy, festive event. Fourth year in a row it has rained. Bring rain gear!

Bill Goulet

Great historic venue. Excellent experience with museum and live racing

Douglas Baldwin

Great place to visit if you love horses. The tour is informative. I was kind of surprised that the general seating was not fancier. I forget that they run regular races there all year long and the KD is just a once a year event. So on the tour you get to meet a couple horses and ask all your questions. Definitely worth it. Make sure to visit the museum next door.

Justin VanAusdale

I was at a group event at Millionaire's Row on the 4th level. The buffet was very nice: a variety of salad, mac and cheese, roasted potatoes, roasted chicken, pulled pork, garlic cheese grits, and a dessert table. Despite being very crowded, the lines moved fast and table service was very responsive. The view was amazing and the races were fun, even without gambling on the horses. All around good time!

Kerry Gardner

The Pinnacle of horse racing. If you've been to Louisville and you didn't visit Churchill Downs you're missing the point. Tradition and history are the words of the day. Where all people may find their place and their "Old Kentucky Home".

tahirah farris

You can feel the history of horse racing when you're here. The most famous racetrack in the world.

Connie Berlin

Get me out of here! This rowdy, drunken college crowd, dressed in their Sunday best, is a stumbling contradiction. The best part was having a unique experience with my son. Couldn’t really see the race at all, save for the Jumbotron. Next time we stay home and see the show up close. Hope no more injuries happen.

TeeRoy M

Favorite place! Love the horses. Love the people, the atmosphere. Fun, fun, fun Good times

Headcheese Joe

What an excellent way to spend a day. Fun time for the whole family. Enjoyed the heck out of it. Great food, friendly and courteous staff, very clean and well kept.

Diana Criscillo

I attended a Birthday party in the Finish line balcony and it was amazing! The food was delicious, the staff is friendly and very helpful. It was a great time. Every time I go to Churchill downs I always have a great time!!

AClayton

Walk in and there is information to get tickets. You can watch a 30 minute about the KENTUCKY derby which was fun. We went on walking tour very interesting. Brought you very close to the track. Learn all about the racetrack. Museum and gift shop were good

Kathleen Bohen

Visited the derby for the first time this year, wow, what a blast! It was rainy and muddy but we brought ponchos and that sure didn't slow anyone down! (We were in the infield) Lots of college kids but if you don't mind rowdy and people getting a little crazy, it's a fun experience. Great big screen where you can easily see the races. I've visited Churchill Downs with no races and now on derby day. Cool to experience both...and in that order!

Naveen srikakolanu

Amazing experience and I love it. A must visit place if you're in Louisville KY. Do not miss the 360 degree experience and field walk to race track. Staff is really nice. Tip: take a note of your parking spot. To remember it easily after you get back from visit.

David Alviola

Got there late in the afternoon around 17:15 hrs. They were close, but had a chance to take pictures outside of the facility with family including the entrance with Barbaro's Statue in the background. Awesome place with great history if u love Horse Racing.

Joe Kress

We took the morning tour of Churchill Downs. Great experience. This is a semi-guided tour. We were taken down to the track as part of the tour to watch the horses practice. Very enjoyable experience.

Gypsy Vanner

My family watches the derby every year. My husband took me here for my birthday and I just about died inside. The tour was excellent, the history of the buildings and track was chilling, and we were even able to go to the track and feel the sand. AMAZING trip.

Angela Weathers

Churchill Downs is always s blast no matter how you do the track. Thoroughbreds are magnificent creatures. Watching them race is a privilege. Food not so much. Stick with chicken tenders and fries. Can't go wrong. Beer in those bottles that look like cans keep your sips cold til the last drop!

Jose Ferguson

Even if you're not an avid horse racing fan, this place is a must to visit. Derby is definitely the best time I would say but even on a regular race day should be a fun day at the track. F&B is what you would expect unless you're in a suite or premium hospitality area.

Jessica

A group of friends and I went to Churchill Downs for Twilight Thursday. There were food trucks to grab a bite to eat at and $1 domestic canned beers. We opted to get reserved box seating under an awning in case of rain, $12 per ticket through ticket master plus fees. It was not very crowded the night we went and did not have to wait long for food or drinks. Overall a great experience placing bets on the horses and enjoying an inexpensive night out with friends.

Rick Norris

Great horse racing museum and tour - not expensive for a relaxing afternoon.

Alicia Alarcon

Workers need to more knowledgeable to be able to assist guests better. We asked 10+ people for our location some gave us wrong info. Others did nor know. Our tickets were not cheap!

Eric Estermyer

Great tours of historic place gift shop is $$$$ but if it's a once in a lifetime trip then ok

Sam Campbell

Churchill Downs is definitely an historical place in Louisville, and a top tourist attraction here also. If you have friends or family from out of town, or a guest to Louisville, you should check it out.

Tonya Arnold

This is a landmark that cannot be missed when you visit Louisville, KY. The history and pageantry cannot be topped. I suggest you come during Derby week and make a vacation out of it to enjoy all of the festivities surrounding the Greatest Two Minutes in Sports.

J J

Beautiful scenery and spacious. Love coming here to bet on the ponies! Would be five stars but they overprice food and beverages it is shameful. Bring in a flask and eat before you come.

Wabbit Habitat

Drinks too pricey. But had a wonderful one time visit. Live way down in NC....too far for a revisit ...have always wanted to see the races. Quite exhilarating! Fun to wear my hat too!

Amanda James

Beautiful grounds! We had a great view from the company box. The weather was fabulous. Our only complaint was that we had to walk almost two miles to get to a place that our Lyft wasn't blocked from.

Rhonda Kintner

That staff is wonderful. This has got to be the next best thing to Disney World as far as kind, friendly, courtesy staff that is there for your every need. Loved the atmosphere and the food. Not even the weather could put a damper on our day. Thank you! We'll definitely be back.

Amy Litsey

This place is crazy n so packed specially when Derby starts. Never been n there but have been told its really nice. I'd recommend this

Ryan Shaw

Incredible facility. The tour was good, but watching a 360 movie in the Great Hall was amazing. Can't wait to come back for a race.

Tracy Ventura

Very, very busy during Derby time, for obvious reasons. So, prepare to walk a lot! Have comfy shoes on hand for a quick change up. Independent golf carters will drive you to and from your parked car for a small fee. If it rains during Derby time, expect mud as part of your ensemble.

Tiff Howell

How can anyone not love Churchill Downs, especially Derby week? It's grown a lot since I was here 6 yrs ago. It's still beautiful and just something about it says greatness, in more ways than one. Anyone that has not been here should come at least once!

Holden L

Amazing place, if you are in Louisville you must attend this historic place. Oaks and Derby week is a blast a must experience. Derby brings people from all around the world with celebrities, athletes, and great people all around. The in-field has some very wild people just having great times, millionaires row with amazing dining. Great liquor an food, betting on horses, parties, and much more. Downs after dark is also another great time to go and enjoy. There are many more events that are amazing with many activities for adults and children.

Janna Donovan

Had a blast at Churchill Downs! The food was great in the stateroom and all the staff was very friendly. Horses were beautiful wonderful day!

David Karner

It was my first time there and Twilight Thursday was a great way to start. General admission seats were very affordable. We had a great view and a lot of fun!

Jasmin Hazelet

Quite the experience. Went there may of 2019 during the big race that "changed history". It was amazing to see and watch these beautiful racehorses run around the track. It's truly a lifetime experience and recommend anyone to go at least once.

Karen & Bob DiFrancesco

Fun to visit, watch the races, and to know the Derby is a part of Racing History here!

Bruce Pinsky

We did the Around the Track Golf Cart and Walking Tour. A fabulous behind the scenes experience that lets you get access to all that Churchill Downs has to offer. Our guide, Martin, knew so much about racing, horses, the facility, the history of The Derby and the other Triple Crown races, and so much more. We experienced up close and personal interactions with exercise riders, trainers, and horses as they went through their daily routine. We finished the tour with lunch in The Track Kitchen, where all the barn and backside workers eat. After the tour, we strolled the grounds and explored the museum to round out our Churchill Downs visit. Highly recommended!

Chad Knapp

Awesome experience in Millionaires Row! Great food, easy betting, and beautiful ponies!

Dan Wilding

It was fun to take the tour and see the track and other sights at Churchill Downs. We happened to be on site as some were exercising their houses... it's fun to see the horses run. Inside you will find an interactive historical museum that is both fib and entertaining. The movie's are well done. You will also find a nice gift shop with lots of souvenir items.

Mary Juber

Fabulous, informative riding and walking tours. See all the facilities and some of the horses on the barn and backside tour, and go on the historic walking tour to get right up close to the beautiful grandstand. It would've been a bit nicer to walk had it not been 96°, but it was well worth it. Don't forget to tour the Derby Museum, too! A great place to spend a day in Louisville!

Mark Rines

An absolute great experience at the Ky Oaks. Box seats were located in the 1st turn on the rail. You could see, hear & feel the power of the thoroughbreds in stride. Will definitely will make this an annual event!

Kathy Meuninck

What a great experience. The staff that I was able to interact with were very friendly and informative. The grounds are beautiful and it was interesting betting on the horses the first time. Looking forward to next year.

Tyler Peacock

Every moment spent here was memorable and enjoyable. I can only imagine what it would be like to experience the Derby on an actual racing day... Very cool attraction.

Donna Herfurth

A must for anyone visiting Louisville, Kentucky! We had a large group and bought tickets for a room on Millionaire's Row. The tickets for a group were $37.50 and it was well worth the expense. The tickets included dinner, which was delicious and cooked to perfection. There was something for all appetites. We had a complete salad bar, baked chicken, pulled pork and every type of vegetable you can imagine. The dinner also includes all soft drinks, tea and water. There is a cash bar where you can buy any type of beer or any mixed drink imaginable, including of course the famous Mint Julep. Beer and mixed drinks start at $6.00 and are mixed well. The best part, however is the entertainment! There were 8 horse races the night we went and it was amazing! You can place your bet right in your room and then walk out the door into your own outdoor area to watch the horses run. They are the most beautiful, magical animals you will ever see. Their Joy in running is obvious and they are beauty and art in motion. I highly recommend everyone go to Churchill Downs at least once, even if you have to visit Louisville, KY for that reason alone.

Theresa De Wild

Came for a tour and sponsored dinner for a convention I was part of and had a great time. The museum was very neat to go through and the tour was fun. Very knowledgeable staff and they answered a lot of questions from the people we we were with. The food was great and tried a mint julep too! Recommend the tour if you're going to come and visit to get the full experience!

Roger Green

Great place to tour and learn the history behind the Derby. Must do the guided tour to get the most out of your visit. Several tour options to choose from.

Collin Moore

Went to the Thursday night races and had a blast! Great food trucks, and dollar beers. Enjoyed the music and they had helpful tutorials on horse betting. A mint julip for the Mrs, and the day was 100% :)

Broderick Smith Jr

Always great to see this great venue, so much history to read and watch over and over again, and to lots of your own memories to make

Timothy Schuster

If your going to Louisville, this is a MUST. I love visiting different tracks and this is the greatest track of them all! Staff are very helpful and friendly. A great experience all around!

Susan Peek

Loved the walking tour. It was great to be able to see everything without the huge crowds.

Esther Cordes

I loved IT!!! IT was a really Nice Day to see the horses run. Everybody very Nice. Food and drinks can be a little more cheaper...but you are a Day Out...

Lloyd Walker

We had Millionaires' Row tickets. The buffet was excellent, the betting windows easy to access, and the outside stands have a great view of the track.

Philip Spencer

Kentucky Derby need I say more Amazing atmosphere, food, and fun!

Charles Grass

Real cool place. Being a huge Cubs fan, it gave me the same nostalgic feeling as stepping into Wrigley Field

Laura Hill

Excited to come back with our daughter and do a different tour. The barns and backside tour was great.

Elizabeth Shniper

Fascinating place, the tour of the grounds held the interest of my 3 children. The tour guide was helpful in answering our questions, and the museum was well curated that even if you didn't know horses, you could still enjoy. The children liked the riding and wagering simulators the best. Well done.

Sarah T.

This Kentucky derby was a blast! The stadium was enormous but it was so fun being in the general admission area. I loved walking under tge stadium to get to it. Great visibility of the races and several sponsored party booths with back drops and live music. Only downside is the drinks were pricey, which is probably the point so people don't get wasted :P

Ryan Teeter

This was my first time at Churchill Downs, and it really amazed me. From a guy who likes baseball, basketball, football, and all the other traditional sports, going to Churchill Downs very different. I was expecting anywhere from $11- $15 drinks but everything was extremely reasonable. Thank you Churchill Downs for not going over the limit and being ridiculous. As a first-time race better, I had no clue what I was doing. With some friends at the location helping me bet I was very enthralled with what was going on. Betting on the races makes you a lot more involved. This is a fun place to hang out and take pictures and of course be with the girlfriend

911 Restoration

Great experience we had for the first time and not just during derby week but all year long

Callean Ilonka

After touring the Kentucky Derby Museum earlier that morning, we learned that they happened to be holding races that afternoon at Churchill Downs. Wanting to have the full experiences we bought tickets to enter and watch the races (only $5 a person - this was just to see daily horse races, not the actual Kentucky Derby). Wanting to be fully in the spirit of the visit, we placed a bet on the first race over at a betting window. The $5 tickets basically let you sit anywhere in the lower level. There were places to buy food, plenty of places to get out of the sun, and a place/tv to watch from picnic tables. We were able to enjoy some racing before continuing into Louisville to explore.

Jason Campbell

Fantastic tour! The over 100 years history of the race is fantastic. Get a Mint Julep and enjoy!

Nicole Swanner

This was such a fun place to visit. We were there for a dinner and had a great time exploring around a bit before it was time to eat.

Holly Bachmann

Very nice place. Bummer that this angry storm rolled in and cancelled the race we wanted to see. But we got to see a race earlier on the museum history tour. The horses were so close!

Brandon Glover

Great track. $5 to get in and comes with the racing program

Margaret Armstrong

We had a family day at Churchill Downs and everything was great We even saw a doves nest in one of trees on thw walkway. All employees I encountered were kind and professional. Thanks Churchill Downs for a great memory! Sincerely, Margaret Armstrong.

Alessandra Camargo

Wonderful venue. So much fun, with lots of excitement. Definitely somewhere to visit if you’re in town.

Reuben Raisor

Home of the Derby in Bourbon Country. Great place to visit. Staff are friendly and the restrooms are clean. The attached museum offers guided tours. Come see why people come from around the world to see the horses run. It is a great experience.

Ron Cole

Great place, rich with history. Not a horse racing fan, but learned a lot. Tour was really informative, cool enough in going back tomorrow to soak more in! Staff was amazing! If you are in the area, visit this place! It was fun.

Rebecca Bryant

Sitting in the oval room listening & watching the screen on the history of Churchill Downs was awesome to the point of trying not to cry with the thrill of it....Loved this place

Mark Telerico

Went there for a corporate dinner. Wow. What a view from the restaurant/bar! The buffet was excellent and the staff was friendly. We had the whole place to ourselves for the night. Very cool place. Laid-back vibe.

Wm Johnson

Beautiful venue, but pricing concessions up 100% from retail is ridiculous. $11 for a domestic beer? $14 for a mixed drink? $5 for a bottle of water? Too high for most people to really enjoy. For the cost, it's much cheaper to have a party at home.

darian metz moore

If you go to a tour make sure you get Ferguson. I had little to no desire to learn about the downs but Ferguson enlightened me. Treated us like family. All around a wonderful experience because of him!! Thank you so much Ferguson!!!!

Keith Parker

There for a wedding dinner, very cool place. The history is awesome !

jason oates

Actually I was quite impressed about how big it is , take the back yard tour where you get to see the stables ,every one is pretty knowledgeable about the area , was well worth the time and effort

Chamal Mediwaka

If you are living.in the United States, no matter whether you like horses or not you have to go to the Kentucky Derby. The atmosphere is amazing and this is the only most happening thing in Louisville. Tickets can be really expensive but you can always go for the cheapest tickets. You don't have to bet but there's nothing wrong it trying it once. Just don't spend a lot of money or get addicted.to gambling.

Elizabeth LeSmith

Easy parking. Plentiful bathrooms and wager areas. Food selection not good in the off season. Cooked meat is all there is.

Shannon Maus

Very informative tour! I learned lots of interesting facts about the derby. The movie they show is wonderful, it gave me goosebumps, it's very moving! The museum is full of information on all of the winners and jockeys. Great experience! Must see!

Jason Kolacinski

Fun family experience! We went to see the last live races of Sept 2019. Paid $12 per person including 2 kids to get a seat as we thought this was the only way to sit. Wish we would have asked about attendance prior. If we only paid the GA price of $5 per adult...kids free, we could have sat anywhere and saved $45 because the place was empty. Still a great day and bucket list attraction checked off for our travels.

Raman Preciado

Amazing, this place is so majestic and historical to just look at, compared to other tracks feels it has a beating heart of racing in American thoroughbred racing.

Amanda Sarver

Beautiful race track. We also went to the museum. They have a really nice gift shop on the track and another in the museum, def stop in at least one of them. The flowers around the paddock are just beautiful. Go on the tour, it's really nice. Giant screen that shows the entire race is really neat.

Sonya leigh

Loved seeing the race track and going to downs after dark great drink specials

Martha Garvey

Learned some of the history on the tour. And then we had a nice banquet and some mock racing and betting in a covered but open air facility. Very pleasant, particularly with no big crowds.

Linda Fitts

Nice summer Thursday, $1 beers....long lines..good food trucks..people watching is always the best. Free parking, $5 gen admission but $3 for seniors. Always nice workers and service.

Blair Wathen

This place is a joke. Even though I won a fair amount and love seeing the horses in action, it's WAY overpriced and overrated. Not in any hurry to go back.

annie

Awesome place to spend some time! If you've never been, definitely go. Splurge too and get the tickets for sit down meals/buffet. The food is awesome & so is the staff at both Levy Restaurants & Churchill. The only thing you may regret is betting on the wrong horse

C Kirkland

Great place to enjoy losing ur money! It's fun w/friends, food and friendly staff. The horses r beautiful and fast. U never leave as a loser ...its a beautiful day!

Francine Culley

Sooooo much fun. Sooooo much history. Highly recommended

kentuckyfan11

I havent been to churchill downs in a minute it nice as hell from the outside It look way different from years back

Uranousimpala the 2nd

Churchill Downs really is as great as everybody says. The horse racing can be watched inside or out. There are food stores inside it is great.

Ron Wickliffe

First time loved the facilities. Made a couple bets but no winners.

Jan Smith

Lots of fun. Not crowded today because everyone was here last night for the evening racing. Don't need to buy tickets ahead and have to pay the ticketron fees (almost$10!). When it is not crowded, just get the general admission for $5. We overpaid, because we didn't know.

Shawna Barnes

World class race horsing at a beautiful place Churchill Downs home of the Kentucky Derby something everyone should see an experience in their life

Gerard Rose

This is the famous Churchill Downs Horse racing track and it is magnificent. It has that old world charm, and you can almost feel the history there. This is a place you should check out, the scale is amazing. Also check out the museum next to the track, very interesting too, and open all year round.

Blue & Green Traveling Team

Loved this visit! Such a rich history of the Kentucky Derby. Tour was awesome! Saw a few jockeys practicing with their horses. A great place to visit!

Marcia Weiss

We were on a trip & had a great time here. Saw some beautiful race horses out for a few fun runs & toured the museum underneath the grandstands. Fantastic place with gorgeous displays of the ladies fashions in various decades of races. So glad we went!!!!

Shaysa Smith

I went to "Dawn At The Downs" with family members and we had a blast! We watched the horses workout and we were close enough to even pat a few of them. We also walked around to look at the different booths that were setting up and take in the beautiful scenery of the track itself. We will definitely be coming back next year to do the same.

Kristen Morris

An awesome establishment all around! Worth every penny. An experience with little regret, between the rich history and beautiful grounds!

matt schmidt

Looks pretty from the road. Not really into horse racing. The aesthetics are very nice.

Valerie DeMello

Went on the back of the track tour in the morning, close to the Derby so some of the contenders were already there. The guide was wonderful and several trainers would come by and chat. Well worth money and early wake-up while on mini vacation.

Kraig R. Smith

Really enjoyed checking out the legendary racetrack for a tour and movie. A must do when you are in the area.

Paul Recchia

We took the private tour (on a golf cart) and it was excellent. The guide was very knowledgeable and you get to see things you've never seen, no matter how many times you've been to the Kentucky Derby.

Ben Gardner

What a phenomenal experience! Everyone has to go to Churchill Downs at least once in their lives! It's great fun and a memory you won't forget. The staff and servers were all very helpful and professional and made the experience even better!

Gregory Britko

The only minor complaint would be while on the Back Barn van ride through the stables that the windows of the van were not clean as the pictures we took would have come out better. Absolutely was stunned by the history behind the race track. Going back tomorrow morning with my fiance to watch the horses train.

Janice McMannis

Historical and interesting tour. Very nice, well kept, and a good time.

Kenneth Clayton

While visiting Louisville, another must visit, is Churchill Downs. We did the museum and 30 minute walking tour. Very interesting and informative. We learned about past Kentucky Derby winners, and Triple Crown winners. Legendary jockeys and trainers. Lots of photos and videos. Definitely do the 18 minute 360 movie about the history of Churchill Downs.

Carrie Fulk Vaughn

As the historic home of the Derby, it lives up to its name and legacy

Courtney Phillips

Spent the morning of my wedding with my maid of honor, taking a tour. We loved it. Totally unexpected. Went with the thought of it's a have to spot to see, left with a great appreciation and so glad we did it. Amazing film shown too!!

Lance Hirsch

This was a great place to visit as a first time. They have a festive atmosphere with a band and food trucks. I was part of a large group with all of the suites reserved. The food was ok. The bar service was slow. While I had a good time, I'm not sure repeat visits would hold up and I think the excitement of Churchill Downs would wear off and I'd be left with just another racetrack.

Andrew Getsy

Went for the backside and barn tour, awesome experience! Got to see where all of the horses live, and had a great tour guide that was able to answer any and all questions we had. All the staff we interacted with were super friendly and clearly enjoyed their work

David Eastes

Had a great time. Won money on the first race. Incredible place, lots of good food and beverages plus exciting race action

Michael Robinson

Very beautiful place to see and go too... So much history their it's crazy! I wish I had more time to see more things that are at this location! I really wish that I could afford to be here while a actual race was taking place... Mock race was interesting but rather see the real race

Lazarus Ameno

This was a great track. Definitely a bucket list item checked off. Friendly and helpful staff at the event. We had grandstand seats but had waited over half hour in the wrong entrance unbeknownst to us. There should (but weren't) any signs telling us to check our tickets that the entrance we were at was for infield only etc. Once we found the right entrance the mint juleps were delicious and done right. Easy to place your bet as well. Bring flip flops for the long walk as they shut roads down and it's a hike to get there. You are allowed to bring a bag they will check it before entry. A seat pad is recommended as well. No umbrellas allowed so bring a raincoat as we did as it seems to rain on derby day a lot. If you don't bring a raincoat but need one, ponchos are available everywhere for purchase before you get into the track.

Mike Campbell

Great night at the races, lots going on. Food trucks were good specials were great. 8 races. First time visiting.

Frank Turner

A must visit location for any race fan. Enjoyed the walk into the track area.

Kristen Robinson

This place is so much more than just horse racing, but that's exciting too. The buffet up at millionaire's row is always the same. It's great food, but the desserts need some work. Be sure to grab one of the signature drinks while you're there.

Mark Worrell

Everything I expected it to be. I got there late but enjoyed the tour, movie, and saw a few parts of the museum displays. Make the stop. I hope to make it back for the Derby some day!

Chris G

I love horse racing and the race track is very cool but bar/cafe prices were high and service was horrible. Tour was interesting but group was way too big so you couldn't hear half of and guide said. Definitely not worth paying for.

James Smith

It’s one of the best things about being a Kentuckian is visiting Churchill Downs. It’s a great track with a lot of possibilities in terms of seating and experiences. I have been here dozens of times. I’ll definitely be back because of all the memories and experiences that I’ve had. I highly recommend if you’ve never been to Churchill.

I have watched the Kentucky Derby on TV but never thought I would want to go on a tour but I was in town last weekend and myself and a few friends did the tour. It was great! Worth the money. Staff is super nice.

They really seem to keep this place new and fresh feeling! Plus every time I've been, It's Clean, every where! Keep up the great work Churchill Downs!!

General walking tour was perfect for someone that wants some cool pics and fun details! Wasn't overwhelming.

We went to “Downs After Dark”. It was very fun and lively with New Orleans theme and live music. There were 11 total races beginning at 6 PM with the last one at 11 PM. Lots of fun and very interesting to see where racing history has taken place.

Chris Flanigan

My wife and I visited the museum and took a tour. We took the "barn and backside" tour which was very fun. The tour guide was very informative. We learned a lot about the business of horse racing and also some of the practicalities involved with horse care, healthcare and well-being.

Brandon Wooten

Awesome time. You can feel the history. Staff was top notch.

Brian Baker

Great museum with interactivity and plenty of exhibits, plus a great 360 video about the Kentucky Derby and entirety of events leading up to it. The tour wasn't as impressive as I had hoped. The tour guide was knowledgable, yet he could only bring us into the stands area, then right back out, and not the center of the track as well.

Michael Krutsick Jr.

Attended event there. Not enough employees to handle event size. Tables cluttered with empty plates and cups. Ran out of some food choices early. Long lines at bars. Employees did their best under conditions.

Rex Hunter

Lots of fun and nice folks gave us behind the scenes access.

Get your race on, your bets on & ladies don't forget your huge hats! Fun food and fashion all while gambling. Need I say more!

When visiting Louisville this is a must experience to add to your list. It’s much more than just horse racing. It’s an opportunity to enjoy the history, the traditions, and interactive entertainment Churchill Downs offers. The concessions are reasonably priced, family friendly, and facilities clean.

Gaye Fahey

It was a great experience. My husband always wanted to go. We also went to the Kentucky Derby Museum. That was very nice also.

Debbie Rankin

I love this place!! I always hate to leave Churchill Downs when we go. I love horses and horseracing.

Kyle Smith

We had a fantastic time at both the Kentucky Oaks and the Kentucky Derby. The big crowd was spread out around the large venue. No problem with access to wagering, restrooms, etc. in the grandstand area.

Maryann Amos

Going here offers one of the most unique experiences I've ever had. It's hard not to get caught up in the excitement of every race. The staff & service is top notch. It's beautiful just to visit. Legends are made here.
