REVIEWS OF Squire Boone Caverns IN Indiana

The guides keep you entertained even while waiting for a tour with friendly conversations .

Sarah Rothe

Squire Boone Cavern has a nice short Zipline run (6 lines) through the trees that was family friendly and fun, with a longer run available. The tour of the cavern showed interesting and unique formations with pathways near and over the moving water. Our knowledgeable guide was just one of various friendly staff. The mill operator was engaging and informative; truly a man who loved sharing a bit of history with today's society. It is worth the walk down (and up) the hill. Food and small shops are available on-site, however we did not eat there.

Jeffery Boggs

Wonderful place to spend several hours taking in the sights. I had a nice laugh at one of the goats they rescued and had in their petting area. He was very tame when feeding him...but...didn't like to share with the other goat. Out of the blue he charged and quickly head butted the other goat when he tried to join in on the feeding. Then quickly turn around and stuck his nose back through the fence for another carrot.

Patrick Velzen

Loved it! Probably even better in the summer when we could have enjoyed more than just the cave.

Debbie Shell Hughes

Really fun and an interesting experience. More locals should go there. Our guide did a good job handling the young children keeping them safe and in line.

Dan Skvie

Wow. I'm speechless. You need to see that place.

Ariel Sickles

Great place tucked away with several different activities..

Akansh Bisen

Nice place to go with freinds and

Eric Barnes

This place was awesome! This was my first time in a cave very informative tour guide the on site pioneer village is a good attraction would and will recommend this to any one. Now it's not for handicapped folks or people who can't do stairs the way out is 73 steps up a spiral staircase that is the only negative thing about squire Boone caverns go see this place

Dan Vermeersch

Fun place for the whole family educational exhibits. Caverns , Zipline and food and gift shop.

Jesse Flint

Alyssa was our tour guide; she was very knowledgeable, quick with good answers to everyone's questions, and extremely good with the kids. The cave tours that run every 30 to 40 minutes are the perfect length for a family outing. The park itself has a lot to offer. We had to pry the kid away, which is a good thing - she often gets tired and wants to leave places early; not at Squire Boone. Already planning a return trip with friends.

Scot Cornelius

Loved it beautiful ❤️

Squire Boon Caverns was a great experience. We like to visit any cave that we can and this one hits the mark very well. It has been one of the better ones with all that it has to offer. The guides were informative and friendly. There are added activities to do on ground level as well. This was a great family getaway.

Derek Hyland

Comparable prices as other local caverns but this cavern is much better lit. I would recommend this cavern to those not wanting a long tour but are, instead, wanting great pictures and to see the most features in a short amount of time. Large and well lit cave bacon, ENORMOUS column called the rock of ages (which we were told could be around 1,000,000 years old), lots of soda straws, stalactites, and more. Other than a large spiral staircase at the end of the tour (which is probably about 5 stories worth of stairs), the tour is quite easy and has more head room than most others in the region. If you want a wild experience and strenuous exploration, then this cave is probably not for you. If, however, you have kids or are looking for lots of cave features for your cave dollar, this might be what you're looking for. Other notables: awesome zip lines on site, historic mill and original cave entrance is worth a look, a couple of other shops on site provide a few other things for the family to do

Michael Pollock

Very interesting and informative cave tour. Also great shops and a working mill. Kids love the barnyard where they can feed the animals. There are quite a few stairs both up and down on the cave tour.

Sena Teska

Learned how to zipline

James Beck

Love these caves. Have seen many caves and this has some of the most amazing formations I have seen. Great place for the family and there is more to do then just the caves. Tour prices are a little high but when you include all the other attractions they are reasonable. Come here and you wont regret it.

Johnny Cordova

Very cool and neat experience.... Must visit

Kathy Burgdorf

Zipline experience very good.

Sondra Moorman

A must see if you are into caves, even have his coffin..as he wanted buried in the caves

Jack Stepro

Love this place. When a young man I watched as they dug the entrance under the main building. Was my first job around 45 years ago. Was a tour guide back when they carried Coleman lanterns. Evolved into a great village of things to see and do. Cave is not terribly long so doesn't take all afternoon and is beautiful. Full of formations. Stairs to climb.

andrea martinez

Great tour, great staff, well run cavern tour!

Damon Huddleston

Awesome hand of God

Austin Anderson

Excellent, staff was amazing it was a great family day

Craig Huffman

Beautiful cave, and a lot to do while there. A bit expensive, but worth it.

Kevin Bunn

Joseph was a wonderful and informative guide! My first time in a cavern and I learned a lot thanks to him!

Skylar Hay

Squire Boone Caverns was a nice place to visit. They're Cave tour I had was great and the other shops such as the soap and candle shop was fascinating. My favorite part though was the gem mining area, we collected many gems we could take home.

Rhonda Dennis

Definitely the Largest display of growths. I was in Awe..

Bill Gumula

We camped with scouts and appreciated the facilities and the fact that there was plenty to do, not just a cave tour. Everyone was very friendly and helpful! The cave was beautiful!

Selma Adamczyk

Beautiful Caverns! Lots of water in the caves too. Love it! They also offer an amazing military discount. Prices for their locally made things are extremely reasonable too!

Ray Jones

It was one of the better caves I've been in great guide underground water fall and a lot of the normal things great formations

Martin McMann

This place is amazing. The walk through the cave is very easy. It's on a guided tour so you get a lot of information throughout your walk. Some of the sections you see are simply amazing and well worth the trip to it. The little village that surrounds is really fun walking around and checking out.

Andrew Gay

Totally enjoyed the cave tour, and the ziplining was incredible. Everyone was very friendly, and the food in their restaurant was good. We made candles and got to pan for gemstones in their sluice . Great experience all around.

Daniel Mitchell

Very cool! My father and I came here on a Friday afternoon and took the tour of the cave. There were only eight people including us on the tour. It was great to have a small group on the tour so we could take our time especially to get up and down the staircases. The tour guide was awesome and they offer a senior and a veterans discount. This place was very tranquil and they have a pig and goats outside. Tour guide was very informative and it was nice to learn about Squire Boone and to learn that he was part of the Militia in the revolutionary war. Highly recommended.

Milly Corvo

What an amazing experience! We took the guided tour of the cavern late in the day so we were the only 2 people with our guide. She was so sweet and entertaining and just so knowledgeable! We only got a quick glimpse of the soap factory and the candy store because we did get there so late but I HIGHLY recommend it! You can tell the staff love their jobs which makes the whole experiencs 100 times better.

Rockhound Forever

So Beautiful! Awesome informative staff they are friendly and curtoius. Definitely recommend for a family outing or just to get away from everyday hustle and bustle. The cave is a little cool but not freezing cold and a bit damp, (great for the hot summer months) and you might get a drip or two of water on you but the tour guide tells you that from the beginning of the tour. They also have a few shops and a zip line.

Paul Doyle

The cave is amazing and our tour guide was very good. The village and Grist Mill are closed this time of year but they are enjoyable as well. There are also picnic areas and a duck pond. Our family loves visiting Squire Boone Caverns.

Jeannette Shutte

The best caverns in Indiana! Alot to do, outside on grounds as well. Ample parking, zip lines were outstanding, one of the best rock/fossil stores around.

Pete F

Loved the tour. Great gift shop.

Ainsley Graff

Such an awesome experience! We went on a Wednesday morning and it was the perfect time to go! The shops and zip-lining were closed but we had a fantastic and informational cavern tour led by Joseph. The caves were well and artfully lit and really accented the natural features! I would highly recommend this for people of all ages.

Nanci Koch

Visited Squire Boone Cave a few days ago. Very nice tour. Very interesting and knowledgeable guide. Would highly recommend visiting!

Larry Riibe

Such a fun family experience and we loved the goats!

Rachel Howson

Absolutely love this place. It's a little village with a soap shop, candle shop, working mill, candy store where you can purchase food, gift shop, petting zoo, and a rock shop where children can pan for gems. They have cave tours and a zipline adventure. My grandchildren love going here!

CopperPipe PlumbingServices

Great fun. Joseph was a great tour guide.

Adam Nolen

Awesome place with lots to do and history of squire boone!!

Ashley Warren

The cave tour was going well until we were all surprised by the memorial service at the end. If it had been in the cave tour description we would have skipped this trip.

Nicholas Taylor

This is a great stop on the drive between Louisville and Indy. Just a little out of the way and the tour won't add too much to your day. The guides are well informed about cave structures and the history of the cave. Our guide told us she had only been working for 3 weeks but she handled the questions from our group with ease. I so wish I had written down her name as well because she was fantastic with our kids. My youngest was upset because the goats at the petting farm wouldn't come close enough for him to touch and she took the time to talk to him and try to help which was awesome.

Ryan Sheibley

Fun place! Was slow because of rainy weather when we visited but still a lot of fun. Our guide was friendly, staff in the shop was a nice woman who was helpful as well. Would recommend this place to others with kids!

Lynora Crawford

I practically grew up at Squire Boone Caverns. Although there have been a lot of changes in 25 years, I still love to go. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, and there are so many things to do! Great family destination!

Steven Wozadlo

Lots to do and see on top of a cool cave tour. I’ve been to several caves in the area and each one has special things to offer. This one is unique so don’t pass it up.

Jennifer Trauth

Loved it. Staff were all very helpful & friendly

J C

Different! Old times! Not much to see though!

tom

Great place for the family.

C Norris

Of the four caves/caverns I visited, this was my favorite. Lots of great history and beautiful formations and waterfalls. I was pleasantly surprised to see that there is an old mill and "village shops". I even learned how lye soap is made. As with the other caves, the guide was very good. They were all so knowledgeable and attentive to their groups.

J

This is an awesome cave to walk through and provides a very educational experience. They also have an extensive rock collection/store with reasonable prices and you can also buy homemade candles and soap products.

Trevor Whited

What an awesome beautiful slice of history and nature wrapped up in one spot! Our tour guide Joseph was so kind and knowledgeable. And very patient with me. I am a photography nut and he would wait for me to get what pictures I needed. We went on a Wednesday morning and where the only ones there at the time. It was so quiet on the trail up to the cave entrance, and we saw about three or four white tailed deer on the way. Most of the shops were closed, but they offered to open them just for us. My wife really enjoyed the barnyard animals. And then there is the cave itself. Pictures do not do it justice! If you are able, I highly suggest visiting. But beware. There is a 60 foot staircase with about 71 steps you have to climb at the end of the tour. Thanks again Joseph for a wonderful tour!!!

Fin times. Kids had a blast. Loved seeing the mill grinding the corn

Danielle Scheurich

One of my favorites... great place to take the kids

Kayla Miller

Had lots of fun cant wait to visit again

John Mathatas

Great family fun!!! They have done a great job with their accessibility in the cave and captured the attention of our family from oldest (37) to youngest (1 1/2 yr old). Their use of recessed lighting and the general demeanor of the staff is awesome. The topside attractions are legit as well and you can feel the sense of pride everyone has in their attraction.

Eva Johnson

This place is full of memories from when I was a kid, and it's just as great as ever :) Our tour guide through the cave (I believe his name was Joseph) was wonderful, and the souvenir shop is very reasonably priced. The Rock Shop a few buildings over from the main is absolutely worth the visit, and they have interesting, memorable stuff for every price point. The cave itself is a cool treat in the summer and is absolutely incredible to experience... definitely a place in the world where Mother Nature decided to show off, and it is entirely worth the stairs (The worst staircase is a spiral at the end of the cave with 73 steps... If you are someone who has braces for knees, your back, or ankles, you may want to bring those. Slip resistant shoes are also extremely recommended) The icing on top of everything is the cats that are scattered around the place :) They are all very well taken care of, and very friendly! If one comes up to you I would really reccomend petting them, they really love it

Brian Simpson

Short tour with a lot of steps, but one of the most informative and true cave tours around. Nice views!

JL Frymire

It was more beautiful than I expected.

Ron Laroche

Time well spent, the only thing was there are a lot of stairs to climb, just for your information

Roy Kallinen

Great Caverns and fun tour with headphones and just under an hour. Where you exit is a surprise. I had the BEST chicken salad.

Kyra Amich

Nice place. Hubby and i enjoyed it

Domenic styer

If you enjoy spelunking and history then this is the cave for you. The tour puts you right in the heart of the cave. Well lit rooms and great walkways added to the enjoyment of the seeing the cave for the first time. I recommend the trip out to see it.

Suyash Agrawal

Really good. Must visit.

Maria Hulbert

Amanda Fulkerson

This place was amazing. Was staying at the nearby High Ridge Cabins and saw it was very close by. Tour was about an hour. Tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. Plenty of chances for pictures. Nice gift shop. Price went up $2 to $21. But still very worth it. Absolutely beautiful and would recommend to anybody.

Timothy Grant

For a show cave this was pretty awesome. Our guide Kodi, was well-versed in the history and the geology of the cave.

Daniel Stawicki

Awesome tour in cave. Friendly staff and super knowledgeable....

Carla Overlander

Neat place, cave was awesome.

Toni Slaughter

Truly enjoyable experience-the Caverns were large, well lighted with stunning waterfall and formations. The history of Daniel Boone's brother was totally new to me. The Village is an unforgettable experience with the grist mill, soap maker, candle maker, rock shop, log cabins. A must see for all Hoosiers!

Ronnie Faust

Great cave. Used to come here on field trips for school. Bright my kids and they loved it. One of the prettiest caves I have toured.

Christina Silbernagel

Awesome must see

Doug Shivel

A must stop to spend a few hours out of your weekend. So if you are checking reviews, then stop and visit.

cletus moore

Loved this one! History lights and water make this a great cavern. The lady on the other side of the earbuds(yes they give u earbuds so if the little ones can't wear them bring some headphones) was very nice and knowledgeable.

ART95129

This place is AWESOME! The shops are relatively cheap (there are a few expensive items). I caught candles on sale & got 3 for $2. Got my son a ring for $.98. I used a Verizon Up membership discount & pd only $49 for 4 adult & 1 child's cavern tours (practically 1/2 price).

April Gunther

Wonderful tour formations great

Tyrel Wilson

This place is absolutely awesome! The cave tour is good even though the cave is not like the size of Mammoth Cave. What's even more awesome is that you can feel the water and experienced a close up small group cave tour. Beyond that they have attractions for every member of the family and they have one of the most awesome water driven grain mills in Indiana. Remember to call ahead and make sure you can stop by when the mill is open and operating. It's worth the experience the drive and the wait! I'll be revisiting often!

J Chris

Absolutely beautiful and freaking awesome

Luke

We stopped by on our anniversary trip and it was great! They have a scavenger hunt where you can visit 6 different locations and find out more about the history of the area. There is also a petting zoo portion and the pigs were great!

Merlin Oetken

Beautiful cave. More scenic than some other caves in the area. Very knowledgeable guide and able to answer questions about the cave and life of Squire Boone Jr., the brother of Daniel Boone. Several streams flowing out of many caves into the river, quite something to see and take pictures of the area.

ken blandford

Nice place for a field trip

Jenny B

I took my church group here for a GA trip, and the girls loved it! The guide was awesome and the gift shop offers a wide variety of toys, candy, jewelry, apparel, and more.

Iris Maria Adams

Great tour hostess! My husband is not a fast walker and the hostess didn't rush us and she waited while I took some really nice pictures!

Claudia Castenir

Kat was an excellent guide. The cave is beautiful.

Ashlea Schmidt

Very beautiful Cave, the tour guide was very informative. If you go be prepared to climb some stairs!

My Painter

Had a good time, people were friendly, cool place to take your kids

Karen Zeigler

Prices are high in the rock shop. Sand/ sifting bags are very disappointing.

Kayla Downey

Really pretty way better than Indiana caverns

David Criss

Was there today with the grandkids ages 3 and 6. I did carry the three year old down and up the spiral staircases, - one at the beginning and a taller one at the end - however the six year old did it no problem. Awesome

Hannah Garrett

I have visited here many times but this was between 2001 and 2014. Hadnt been in a while so I took myself and 3 kids here yesterday. We had a really nice time, everyone was nice we did a cave tour and visited all the shops. It wasnt very busy and all of the employees were very nice and accommodating. We will come back!

Jennifer McLeod

Loved it! Melissa was the best guide and was so nice. The caves are phenomenal and so interesting. Highly recommend.

Chris Atkins

We stopped here on our way home from Holiday World and wish we had more time! We saw the Grist Mill and the Cave and both were great! Very friendly staff, lots of great things to see, and the cave was very impressive. Lots and lots of active formations which is amazing considering how close the tourists are to those formations. We will definitely come back soon.

Jason Huber

I had never heard of this place until I went there. I was pleasantly surprised by how good the tour was along with the old timey feel of the place. There's plenty of stuff to check out. Definitely not a whole days worth of activities, but this place is well worth the stop.

Jennifer Arnold

Not a bad way to spend time with the family.

Rhonda Savoy

Well worth your time!!

Laura Fitzgerald

Squire Boone was a fun place to visit. It's worth the drive and time. It's a fun and affordable family trip. The tour guide have us a very informative tour. The caverns are just beautiful! The shops around are a bit run down and probably have seen their hayday in the 80's probably. The staff are friendly and welcoming.

Teresa Myers

We went on Wednesday afternoon 9/4/19 and everything was closed, website showed they were open. A guy walked out of the ticket shop, locked the door as we were walking in from the parking lot. He walked off never acknowledging us and never returned, this was at 1 pm. Door showed that a tour started at 2 pm, Everything was closed (zip line, shops, restaurant) Only one star because I cannot go lower. Would not waste my time driving out there again. I would recommend making a call to ensure they are open if you really want to go there, before making the drive.

Jennifer Shelton

They said they have tours at 10, 12, 2, an 4. We arrived at 9:50. An were told we were waiting of a group of school kids to arrive then we would get started. Kids didn't arrive until 10:30 an then we were told it would be at least another hour an fifteen minutes until the tour would start. If your tours start at a certain time they should start when you say they are going to. We won't be back.
