Large arboretum with special events year round. Beautiful and peaceful. If you like very educational ,or just enjoy nature.

Donna C

I can't wait to go back! The troll hunt is so much fun, I plan on visiting again with family. There is something here for everyone to enjoy.

Tracy Hulett

We've been members for several years and it's one of our favorite memberships. The grounds are beautiful, the Children's Garden is amazing and the special events are fun and unique. It's very easy to get to, with ample parking. The staff and volunteers are so friendly. The gift shop is one of the best I've ever been to. It's bigger than you'd expect and the selection is amazing. They offer a number of classes on nature and art. While I've never taken one, I understand from friends that they're excellent. We love this place!

Steve Norcross

A pretty place, with a lovely walk around the lake. A better than usual cafe.

Elizabeth Beasley

Absolutely beautiful! And fun finding Trolls! Great for any age and worth the $15 to get in.

Mandee F

My husband and I drove by the troll near the highway during a visit to Illinois, and we just had to make plans to visit the arboretum after spotting him on the hill! We had a great time following the map to find all of the trolls and the LEGO statues. Bring good walking shoes; you can drive much of it but you do have to park and walk if you want to see all of the trolls. It was a fantastic experience and one we would highly recommend to all!

Jonathan Arciaga

This Arboretum is amazing. There are so many paths and trails to walk on and a lot of trees and plant life to enjoy and admire. There are often events at Arboretum for all ages. There is a kids play and learning area which is great for kids of all ages also. The main visitor center is amazing with great staff and the food in the cafe is reasonably priced with great quality as you eat your food while looking out over the lake to the east. Beautiful place and I'll be coming back more often.

Kyle Cook

A beautiful experience. Finding all the trolls (limited time) was fun and got to see some amazing Lego animals (limited time). Wonderful kids play area and beautiful plants everywhere. A great way to spend a morning or afternoon.

Kristina Breitling

The arboretum offers many walking trails through gardens, prairie, and woods. Several places to stop and park along either the east or west loop. The west loop is longer than the east, but both offer a great bike ride, run or drive through the preserve. You can also hunt for the wood trolls that are hidden throughout the grounds.

Tim Meehan

Amazing oasis for serenity. Great paths/hiking & wonderful kid's garden. Autumn is the best.

Samantha Mathas

A friend recommended I visit this place for the trolls after hearing about my daughters recent obsession with giants. We were not disappointed! This place is massive, we were here for several hours and did not cover everything. The children's garden alone took us several hours to go through. We loved it all! The natural playground was awesome! The kids loved it all, too. We had a lot of fun walking around and seeing the lego exhibits and going on a troll hunt. We live in a neighboring state and it was well worth the 2.5 hour drive.

Cheryl Yapp

This is a must place to go to. There is something for everyone to see, to do and be wowed by. Any time of the year is a good time to go to this Arboretum.

art kraft

Have not been there since 70's unfreaking believable. Great for family's. Not electronics. Old school out doorsey place Want to get away from Google. Go here. Leave phones at home.

Beth Ostrowski

What a great place! Went with a group of 7 for Troll Hunting. Beautiful grounds and great way to spend a Sunday. Wish the trolls were a little easier to find but still had so much fun!

Andrew Driscoll

This is a great place to go and paint with watercolors. There is limitless artistic inspiration there, and it is an environment where nature is allowed to take its course on a grand scale. There are many different, special events throughout the seasons, so check their schedule and plan on having a great time no matter what.

Fady Hanna

Liked the Hertage trail , so quite .... Takes you back in time away from the civilization , a real woods experience !

pete steele

Was there for a wedding and the views were breathtaking. This place has so much to offer I will be back to tour the grounds. From a vendors perspective, they certainly have a handle on hosting events and I would strongly encourage anyone that is looking at venues to consider The Morton Arboretum as a viable option. The pictures taken of the wedding party were one of a kind. I will be back!

lara Musulin

Amazing peaceful place to visit with family, friends or relaxing walk alone. The food there is also very good and healthy choices as well. Special Troll and Lego exhibits are amazing!!!

Kyle Macarthur

From the highway expect AT LEAST a full hour wait in nearly stopped traffic to get in. You will have 3 large highways all converging in a single tiny bridge leading to only 3 toll booths (if all are staffed) and normal slow making change. My wait time for last mile from highway was 1 hour 30 minutes during a sunday afternoon at fall leaves time. Being snacks! Use bathroom before!

John Ruggie

We visited the grounds for a wedding. The gardens and grounds were beautiful and well maintained. That service staff for wedding were all very friendly and helpful. Food was great as well. Plenty of parking close to the venue. I am anxious to go back to see the rest of the grounds.

Chris Asmar

This place was nice, but I think a little overpriced for $15 per person. It's a good size place and there are many things to do while walking around, but if you wanted to take a tour via bus that was an additional charge which seemed kind of high. The restaurant was a plain restaurant with somewhat decent food, we may come back again if they ever have a free admission day or discounted price.

Phoebe Hunter

Beautiful trees and flowers every where! My children loved searching for the huge wooden trolls. I was very impressed by the LEGO sculptures! We would have liked to spend more time there but we had already made plans; I think at least four hours would have been ideal.

Josh Naleway

Great place to do a lot Even if you don't like the outdoors...you still will fine something to love about it...

Jennifer Horvath

Family friendly. Lots to learn. Every time we ride the tram we have a different driver and learn different things.

Matthew Phelps

They have a really nice kids area and have some fun things to do with the kids like troll hunt and activities throughout the day. You can walk for miles here through some pretty forest areas.

Nicole Schuman

What a beautiful place!! Absolutely huge, stunning views, and a nice play space (also big!) For the kiddos. And the Trolls they have for 2019 are just too cool

Stip House

Love this place. We did the troll hunt. So much fun with our 6 year old! Couple hours of family fun!

Allison Reed

I went several times with a friend who had a year long pass. It is fun to drive, bicycle, or walk around. It has quiet serenity. There are two restaurants at least. I liked the humongous cafe. Buy a drink, bring your lunch and watch the outdoors! There are fun activities for the children. The gift shop has some really cool stuff for everyone. Come and enjoy!

Kistleen

it's a fantastic place! a very large park with lots of nature, trees, different and beautiful flowers. You can enjoy hiking, bike or vehicle rides.

Andrea Gorecki

This place is so beautiful. You can unwind and go for a hike or attend any of their events they host. The kids area is a really cool place for kids to run around and get some energy out. They're open every day but only allow dogs on certain days throughout the year.

T Bakosh

Great variety if trees with many waLking and biking paths.

Adam Zahner

Beautiful place for a long walk or bike ride. The tour through the part was great too! So much history to learn, and so many amazing trees!

JEFF Devlieger

Largest by far ive been too. Very beautiful and kids loved it. Can spend cpl hours or entire day. They have a troll hunt this yr too. They look pretty cool

Jeff K

Walked the entire property and loved getting out early and away from technology for a morning. The trees were starting to change color so it was a beautiful time of year to go to the arboretum. The fall colors fest was going on so we grabbed some cinnamon donuts and apple cider as we checked out the glass pumpkin display. I would definitely come back a couple times during the year especially with all the different events they put on.

Loryl Steinberger

Beautifully kept grounds with lots to see. We had a family reunion picnic in the children's garden area where there is a covered patio to rent. Very nice!

Kathryn Sweet

We went on a Monday to avoid the crowds. And we got there early. Good move. Beautiful place. Wear good shoes unless you plan to take the tram. Admission is a bit steep ($15 for adults). Admission is $5 less on Wednesdays.

Thomas Jackson

Its nature, it's perfect. And The Morton Arboetum seems to always have something fun happening. Yesterday, my wife and I danced to Polish music in the forest. How cool is that! Thank you

Benjamin Lambert

The Arboretum is full of idyllic, natural beauty. It's also very affordable and approachable, despite its high-minded dedication to science. There is something for everyone here. I wish there were more places like the Arboretum.

Scott Ambrose

Paid a visit to the Arboretum today. I picked up some boxes of note cards at the gift shop and went for a long walk. It was cloudy and cool, but the staff I encountered at the gate and gift shop were warm and sunny. A great place to visit to connect to the beauty of God's creation.

Carolina Salinas

Absolutely worth the membership! I took 4 "kids" (10 - 22 y/o) with me, and everyone was entertained with the Troll Hunt and maze. I recommend going early morning to avoid crowds and enjoy the cooler morning breeze. I'm looking forward to going back in the fall to watch the leaves change color.

Tommy Feliciano

What a great place. My girlfriend and I love going on hikes and trying different trails each time. We found this gem online and we were intrigued by the Troll Hunt. We arrived around noon and the arboretum was quite busy which was really nice to see. The information center was extremely helpful, there are very detailed maps of the whole arboretum. We journeyed on to the Troll Hunt and it was so much fun! You can either hike or drive to each troll for those who just want to see them. It’s about 7 miles to see them all. There was also a garden full of LEGO sculptures which was a pleasant treat.

Lindsay Barrons

My family loves this place. Both my brothers family and my sisters family always get memberships every year. I was just there a few weeks ago for my nephews birthday and it's a great place to bring kids. Especially active kids. They have a really big children's garden which has a lot of different jungle gym things to climb on. Tree houses and more. There is a corn maze. Bike paths and rentals. And right now there's a troll hunt! Giant trolls are all around the place to find and enjoy!

Cathy Chamberlain

I enjoyed the Arboreteum greatly! From riding in the car to walking the trails. Restaurant was excellent. I had veggie quesadilla and my friend had a turkey sandwich with homemade chips. Portions were filling. View from the seating was absolutely beautiful while we ate. Staff were full of information and had answers to our questions about trees. They even directed us to fascinating off the beaten path places that they themselves love. Great day! Thank you!

merin Mathew

It's huge, calm and good to go for a walk, picnic during the fall or summer and if you are tired you can ride along and watch the seasons.. at first there were not much colour change to see but after parking 6 it's beautiful and you'll enjoy the fall season.. there's an entrance fee of 15$ for adults and also a restaurant if u feel hungry.

quynh chi tran

Its huge. Came for memorial for friend which was beautifully apt for are friend petey. Great place to have gathering but come early...takes a long time to get to entrance and then through it. Ty for making a place that honors trees.

Maciej Ciupa

It's places like this that should have a special six star rating. The trails are fantastic, the garden is very well kept. It's an absolutely fantastic place to go take in some nature.

Jason Randall

Went to enjoy a lovely Labor Day with my wife and young daughter. What a lovely time we had! The Lego exhibit was very nice and unexpected. We also home a trail we'd not done before. All in all a great day!

Dave Youngdahl

Great fall colors. Also a great place for a run. It's a bit pricey for a family if you don't have a membership.

Michael King

Great outdoor space. Feels secluded despite being boxed by highways. Kind of pricey and any event pretty much costs more money despite being a member. The facilities are great with very upscale amenities. Lots of summer activities and displays happening. Most, if not all, trails are reserved for walking only. No biking, or even running, allowed on anything except the street (with active vehicles)

Mark M

Wonderful place to spend some time and reflect, or hunt trolls with the kids. Cafe surprisingly great. Thought I was in store for cold chicken fingers but was really pleasantly surprised. Go get those trolls!

Richard Dunn

Any time of year The Morton Arboretum is my oasis in the desert. Well worth an annual membership fee to make it a place to stop for a walk around the lake a few times per week.

Annie McPherson

The arboretum is a treasure and if you haven't been yet, you should visit soon. If you dont go for one of the numerous events, the chance to enjoy nature is enough of a reason to make the trip. Throughout the year they hold fairs, festivals and programs that are both educational and entertaining.

Mark Lindberg

The kids play area is great. We always have fun, but wish I had the time to explore the rest of the place more without kids. Surprisingly, I wasn't that impressed with the Illumination at Christmastime. We go back for the kids to see it though.

Bill Pankau

This place is giant! Children's garden is great for the little kids, but probably best for ones who can walk/run already. Cars can tour the whole grounds and bus tours available, walking paths all over the place and fun changing events/activities/exhibits (we saw the Lego statues). Bike rental is definitely what we plan for next time, electric bike with a child trailer would be perfect to cover a lot of ground in short time.

Jack Bannister

Kids area is the best... Great trails for walkers... Nice place for lunch but cost can be high... Photos are great in many areas of the grounds...

papa don

Excellent place for a relaxing walk and peaceful atmosphere. The troll hunt was a great time for us and our granddaughter. The artist did a wonderful job

The Joy of Life Radost Zivota

I can't describe how much I love this place. If you are nature lover like me, this is right place for you. The place is huge, filled with beautiful woods and activities for whole family to enjoy.

Dana Storey

Great activities for kids and adults. The water area for kids was very cool as well. Wkifd can walk around in about knee depth water and walk on smooth rocks. Easily the most crowded area there but still plenty of room for kids to play

Steven Hoffman

Always have loved this place. Great children's section, great trails. Have snow shoe and cross country skiing in winter. Concerts, dog day. Events for kids. Etc.

Jessica Shyer

A very beautiful place to go one time during each season. Not as big as the map made it out to be and not always worth the price but an enjoyable experience.

Steve Lisowski

One of the most beautiful places you will visit, especially in the fall. Enjoy the trails, bike, or just drive through. There is an east side and a west side. Check out the trolls and other special events (like Illuminations, the Christmas light show, which is drop dead amazing). Admission is reasonable but becoming a member is a better value if you visit more than once or twice a year. Don’t miss this place!

Jeff Faye

Relaxing yet entertaining atmosphere. Congenial staff friendly volunteers. Enjoy nature¡

Maggie Mohr

Always a great time at Morton Arboretum. Beautiful gardens, great classes, great entertainment events. Children's garden is second to none. Top notch place. Member 20 plus years.

Jennifer Van Eyke

This is kind of a magical place around here. I feel bad for out of towners who come here because there is so much to explore and theres no way you could see everything in 1 day. Its a beautiful, clean environment just great for walking around and enjoying the sight of trees and birds.

Antoinette Watson

There is so much to do and see here. There are biking paths, hiking paths, and driving routes. They have an awesome kids section where kids can learn and play. The troll hunt is a lot of fun. The trolls are huge and add a whimsical feel to the arboretum. There is a cafe at the visitor center which has really good food for adults and children.

Dennis Cardoso

This is a beautiful area with very nice talking paths and scenery. The facilities on site are also wonderful. I attended a child's birthday party in the area, and the staff integrate gardening into the activities for the kids, which they loved. They also had a special attraction with a park-wide troll hunt with whimsical set ups (see the pic)

Raghunath Ramadasan

Good upkeep and space. Great for walks and runs

Angela Fruin-Konicki

Great programs, nice place for a walk. Loved the free LEGO exhibit. We’ve been to the glass pumpkin patch for the past 4 years. Check out the toy train exhibit around Xmas. Wonderful employees and volunteers. Be sure to go in the library if you visit

Karen Hayes

We loved the special exhibits. My kids had so much fun visiting the trolls and finding the clues to find the hideout. They also really enjoyed the Lego walk. We had a great time aventuring in the arboretum.

Genaro Cardenas

Great place to enjoy Fall's colors. You should plan to attend illuminations showcase

Emeelenee Monzon

Parking lot was full but the place is very spacious. Everything is outdoors. There's enough for kids to explore & they have a little picnic area. They'll loan wheelchairs for no fee, they just need a photo ID of some sort and return it before 6pm. It's quite a lot of walking. It's a very peaceful place with very nice scenery.

Ameer AbdulWhaid

Good place for families. You can see species of trees and plants.. clean place and fresh air.

Catherine Li

Amazing Flora and Fauna, of course! The gift shop is fabulous and the restaurant inside has a wonderful wide window for viewing the pond while you eat

Tom Chiero

Lots of traffic hikers and walkers in roadway. Go to Illinois beach state park instead.15 per person admission at morton Not that much different than local forest preserves. Cantigny was a better place.morton arboretum is a big rip off.save the admission fee drive through your local woods and take the kids for hamburgers much better value

kathleen strenkowski

Go anytime of year, especially near Christmas time for an incredible display! Magical lighting!

Fred Barringer

Beautiful flowers. I have written down the names of several so I can put them in my garden. The activities around the lake where really fun to see and possibly purchase too. Thank you for an economical place to go and spend a wonderful day with family and friends. The cafeteria was great also. All the employees were very warm and welcoming.

Husaini Syed

Great place to take the family for a walk! Very beautiful in spring and fall. Lots of parking, look for special events all summer long. Great place to go and take pictures with the family. Allot of people come here for prom, wedding, family portraits. Definitely worth a visit, bring your camera!!

Cryptic Asmodeus

Love walking the trails! There is the new LEGO structures and the Troll Hunt is amazing. Great food & staff!

Monica Reyes

Great for families and couples. Beautiful trails and the troll hunts are a must! Be ready to walk

Robert Johnson

An escape from the hustle and bustle of modern life. The arboretum is beautiful in every season. Plan on spending the day here, there's lots to see. There's a cafe for lunch. It's worth the price of admission. Get a membership if you live in the Chicagoland area and visit anytime.

Jacci Lozada

There is so much to see and the grounds are just beautiful. With every season, the scenery changes, I'm looking forward to the holiday lights!

Mohsin Qureshi

Amazing and scerene experience. Recommend for a full day. Pack supplies in case of small children. Do not forget to go through the maze and the children garden. Recommend driving through the park rather than taking the tour. Plenty of spots to stop, park and enjoy the view.

Kevin Cammarata

Always a great time for the family. We enjoy walking around the grounds, especially the children's area. The kids are always tired and sad to be leaving by the end, which is a success in my book.

Carolyn Edwards

Love being able to drive through to see the magnificent collection of trees. I was able to drive my 96 year old Mother through and she loved it. The tram ride through is an excellent orientation. And wonderful activities and special displays throughout the year. Worth a membership to fully enjoy all that is offered.

Todd Ledford

It really is beautiful. Spring, summer, or Winter. You can't go wrong. Just be prepared to walk. It's worth it. Try to go when it's not too hot. Food is good. A little pricey but it goes to a great cause. T.

Melissa P

From the phenomenal light show at Christmas to the Paws on the Trails events, this is the most beautiful place to come get gardening ideas, feel like your hundreds of miles away from home and learn about everything outdoors. I think this is the perfect staycation destination for every family in the area. Don't miss out!

Maggie Koby

Paradise in the middle of town! Beautiful landscaping that changes with the seasons.

Eric and Laura Peterson

We enjoyed the trolls and the children's garden. What a beautiful place! The woods is magical.

Ashish Gupta

It's a very nice relaxing place. Great things to do with kids.

Jerome Naroleski

Worth getting a membership for parents to let kids run around and expel energy. Very beautiful grounds and many paths with plenty of information about the trees and plants around.

Samantha Hathaway

Beautiful, with multiple well-maintained trails. I like idea of searching for trolls. Also plenty of education for various areas. Nice driving with stops for more exploring on foot

Laura Selimos

Love it in the fall! Pumpkins/jack-o-lanterns everywhere on the trails. So fun. So peaceful!

Ryan Strat

A fun way to spend the day! Lots of well maintained trails with plenty of signage along the way so you can find your way back easily. See the trolls while they are still in town!

Tom Reifenberg

A massive arboretum with so many different nature experiences! Easy to move through by car on a one way loop to park at different nodes of interest, or take the foot trails that weave through oak savannas, delicious forests, spruce plots, and wetlands. So much of this area was once overtaken by agriculture, so it's a lot of impressive work that's going in to selectively edit out pioneer species and restore these natural spaces.

Kristofer Bochat

Love this place. We probably go here 2 or 3 times a month. The current troll exhibit from last year and the LEGOs this year are so much fun. Recommend the children’s garden especially during the summer.

Adriana Pellegrini

I went for the trees and nature, came back for the running trails. Also, there are a ton of concerts, events, and educational classes here. Beautiful setting. Good food in the Cafe for reasonable prices. I'd recommend getting a membership if you live close by, because otherwise the entrance fees can add up and get steep.

Ashley Montgomery

Love taking my family to this wonderful sanctuary. Great to get lost in nature and enjoy the beauty of it all. Any staff I have ever encountered has also been amazing.

Greg Meyer

Amazing collection. Spring and late summer are my favorite times here. Great place for a walk/run/ride. The access loops turn into an exhaust choking parking lot during the autumn colors with people taking pictures through their car windows.

RM HB

Very well kept. Beautiful trees, flowers. Saw a few trolls and Lego sculptures this time. Also visited the children's section - lots to do and no area was particularly crowded (on Friday prior to labor day). Good food (seems little pricey, maybe about a buck extra a person to eating some place like Chili's). Clean bathrooms.

Jessica Sikes

It's a beautiful place. All different types of trees and flora from all over the world. It's crowded as heck on weekend and expect to wait in a line of cars... but you can still find a place to be alone for a second. Amazing place for events. The representatives are extremely kind and helpful and actually know the answers as far as where things are located. We went to the tails on the trails event and stayed about 3 hours. We've been before in the fall when they had the scarecrow competition. This time they had a Lego exhibit which was unexpected and actually really enticing. In addition to all the different pups there.. it was pretty awesome. (Dogs are not normally allowed)

Dolores Maier

Awesome beautiful escape from urban life. Brad at the bike rental was super nice and informative. Will definitely return soon. Left feeling mentally detoxed and revitalized.

Phillip Gamble

This place is great. Beautiful grounds, unique and large area for kids, tons of stuff to do and cool rotating events make Moron Arboretum very worth your time.

Debbie Maline

Received info in the mail for yearly membership to the Morton Arboretum and would love to join. I am a gardener. Love flowers and trees. Was told my 4 pound dog is not allowed in even if it's in your car only to drive thru. Pets are family. I truly understand they should not walk on the grounds. I agree. But what's wrong in a car ? Pets are allowed 5 times a year only. Should be changed to twice a month.

Dan Owens

Fantastic family-friendly destination! Beautiful gardens, extensive natural areas featuring a wide variety of plant species from around the world! Amazing collection of common to exotic plants! Educational Center, Children's Garden, a fun hedge-row maze, Legos sculptures, a restaurant, and more! Highly recommended!

David M

If you want to get away from the city, this is the place to go. My kids have a lot of fun and there is an opportunity to teach as well. The Lego display is pretty cool as well.

Thomas Pawlowski

We took our granddaughter n she really enjoyed the time there. We walked for an hour and for a two year that's a lot. She loved the scarecrow that were decorated by scouts.

Rachel Fry

Massive, gorgeous, and educational. The hiking trails are largely separated from the paved roads so as not to intrude with road noise or the sight of cars. I could easily spend the whole day here

Susan Figiel

Love the trolls. The grounds are well kept. Its always beautiful in fall, so I'll be back.

Alaina Knapp

While prices are on the higher side, I think the arboretum is one of the few establishments that I can support spending a little more money at. The childrens garden is amazing. I wish there was a more substantial discount for members at their events.

tony huynh

Really really big area. It's a great quiet hike. They have trail hiking and a nice stroll path.

Chris Krolczyk

It fully deserves that 4.8 rating. An awesome mix of special events and nature that would only alienate people who can't stand being in natural settings in the first place. Open all 12 months except for major holidays, IIRC.

Carolyn Andre

Super fun! Very well taken care of and put together. The people who work here really love it and its nice to see. My only advice is plan to be there the whole day to get your money's worth. Its huge! And wear comfy shoes!

#Texas Toast

Went here for a school trip!! It's a very Beautiful place in my opinion, and I LOVE the nature and flowers here. When we went, the only thing was that it was hot and we couldn't have our drinks out with us..they had to be in a bag. It's fun for family, school and other trips! I took some good pictures(again my opinion that the pictures are 'good') and it's just a very unique place!

Leah Morris

Yoga among the trees feels amazing! The instructor, Natalie, was very thoughtful and thorough in her practice. An unforgettable experience.

Sheri Kwiatkowski

Another great glass pumpkin patch and fall decorations! Cant wait to see what is next!

Sam Jaros

Such a beautiful place to walk, bike, or drive around. They always have some sort of exhibit for people to see and a great children's area for kids to play in. This is a must-see if you find yourself in the suburbs.

Kathryn Mundschau

I have a membership and it has already paid for itself! There are many paths you can take, very well maintained, and best of all is the children's garden. There are many things for the kiddos to do. My only complaint is how early the children's garden closes on most days.

Gregory Von Dare

Beautifully landscaped and tastefully decorated, the Arboretum is a near perfect destination for any time of year. But be prepared for some long walks.

Vicky Gerken

Big walking place, beautiful surroundings tons of roads going in different directions. Went to tails on trails event. My dog lived it

Amy O'Neil

Beautiful place. The Tram tour was very informative and relaxing. Nice family activity!

Carlos Velazquez

I have lived in greater Chicagoland my entire life and had yet to visit. This weekend was an wine and arts walk which was really nice. Lots of artists and we even took part in the maze. Family friendly fun.

Tanya Fook

This is a beautiful place to walk and enjoy nature. It is played out so that you can get ample exercise walking from area to area. There are various trees, and the landscape is breathtaking. They have it plant and color coordinated according to the seasons as well, which makes it especially nice. In the winter they put on an awesome outdoor light show that shouldn't be missed. There are always activities and demonstrations of various interests that provide opportunities to accommodate most. Last summer they even had a bonsai contest, with bonsai trees submitted by various owners to be judged by the public. The trees were amazing! They each were truly unique in their own right, and each one was a winner. I recommend this place for everyone. There is a senior discount. They do have a gift shop, and you can purchase food here. When they have events, there are more food stations outdoors to purchase food as well. You should add the Mortem Arboretum to your list of places to visit.

Lawrence Pavia

Always a great place to visit! Drive, bike, or walk... many trails to explore. Wonderful facilities and cafe!

Saad Shah

Highly recommend becoming a member if you plan on visiting a few times a year.

Jason Lucci

It was a hot day but a lot of fun. Plenty of areas to cool down in the shade and enjoy the outdoors.

Michele Sajdak

There are so many things to see and do at the arboretum. The only thing that I will say is that the lines to get in are crazy long on weekends, and everything there is expensive. I like that it goes towards conservation, but I still feel like I'm being gouged a bit. Lots of fun and physical activity for the kiddos.

Pranav Mishra

One of the best things the Chicago area has to offer. Walking, biking, or driving through the Arboretum is always wonderful, year round

Kamil P

Fall colors and a troll hunt equals beauty, fun and quite a bit of enjoyable walking.

Jairo Barrientos

Very relaxing drive ill will say. The feel is quiet but also gives you a sense of calm. Many activities to be done here but just the hike or drive thru the arboretum, are enough to appreciate the location.

Jennifer Murray

Absolutely Gorgeous! I finally decided to get a membership so I can go in as often as I want. Great place to take in the scenery, do a little exercise, or just hang out with family or friends. I highly recommend!!

Diana Qiu

Great place. Good for adults and kids. Great place for hiking.

Patrick Weil

The arboretum is a great place for a walk or run, but bring the bug spray in the summer because I was eaten alive in mid-July! That being said, it has areas for kids & adults in a beautiful area where you can really enjoy the outdoors and get a unique view of trees and plants from around the world.

Mark J

Awesome place to visit. Many activities for all ages.

Ron M

Great walking trails & every tree is tagged so you can learn to tell the difference between your trees!

Valeria Hunter

The special exhibits are always interesting, innovative, and well curated. During my last visit I had to make sure I saw the LEGO exhibit. It was breathtaking. This peacock was amazing. In an earlier couple of visits it took two visits to find all the trolls. Workmanship on them is fantastic! I’m a member, so I was able to enjoy the hunt in a couple of visits. I deducted one star because frankly while I love the space, I often don’t quite feel quite welcomed by Visitor Center staff. Most times I avoid it, as there are restrooms elsewhere. Otherwise, a beautiful respite in the suburbs.

Helene Albano

Beautiful outdoor nature adventures and promotes positive and supportive interaction with all of creation.

Elizabeth Laramie

If you have kids and live near by you'll have to get a family pass to enjoy the spring summer and fall and everything this place has going. Waterfalls to large wooden forts it has everything in between, including a maze! Can't say enough, we love it here!!

Wonderful place for a walk in the trees. We went to the walk-in tai chi class and had a good time. There were quite a few cars in the parking lot on a Sunday afternoon but it didn't seem crowded at all. There are a lot of family friendly activities to engage children, and a restaurant, coffee shop with espresso drinks, a big gift shop, and a nice visitors center. It costs $15 per person now, which is a lot more than it did in years past, so a membership makes good sense if you plan to visit more than twice a year.

Such a beautiful place to disconnect and be one with nature. We have also experienced the Hunting For Trolls exhibit and the Scary Fairy Tale Walking Play. Both were impressive and so much fun. We definitely love coming here and will be back!

Displays get more in depth and interactive every year. Worth the drive when the crowds are light. Good place to stroll wood chipped trails as well as more formal gardens. Great place to hone plant ID skills.

The Troll Hunt was fun, the Nephew loved it. And I like that they have parking spots and can use a car to get to most of the trolls. Will do again walking when weather is more appropriate.

Always a pleasure to come. I wish they had the 4 person bikes to rent so families can ride together.

Attended the glass pumpkin sale- beautiful pieces. Lovely evening to spend outside. Nice to have member perks.

The arboretum is a wonderful place for a membership. They have a resturaunt and shop for gifts. They also have tours to teach about the different trees and play at, they offer events and classes, the children's garden is amazing, the picnic areas are endless, walking paths, great place to ride bikes, the trolls! So many things waiting to be discovered!!! Bring your friends!

This place is truly magical. The air feels cleaner when you enter the grounds and your mind feels clearer. The arboretum has a lot to offer. For those with kids, there's a hands on children's garden; which involves mazes, climbing and water all just right for little people. For those that want to enjoy nature there are the well manicured paths surrounding the visitor center as well as, natural hiking trails surrounding the entire arboretum. The visitor center can be very busy and crowded during the day, especially hot days, however once you start on a hiking trail, it's just you and the vegetation. The arboretum has a nice cafe, that has air conditioning for those super hot days that overlooks a beautiful pond. There is also outdoor seating as well. The prices for the cafe are kind of high for the quality of food, but hey your paying for convenience;). There is a Tram tour ( separate fee)that takes you through parts of the arboretum with an experienced guide to explain the history of the trees and different areas. History of trees may not appeal to some, but this was a great relaxing and informative experience. I have only been in summer, but I cant wait to experience the seasonal changes for fall, winter and spring. Highly recommend spending an afternoon or two here!

Wow! Just wow! Seriously an incredible adventure, I went solo and had an absolute blast! Next time I visit Chicago I will make an extra trip here. They have 17,000 acres but I only did 6 miles but I know there was so much more to see. You would be impressed by this place and the giant trolls! Go here! Be one with nature! Enjoy!

You can't exactly get lost here in nature but you certainly can hike or stroll for hours and hours and not visit the whole location. The arboretum also does a good job of coming up with new things to keep the kids interested in repeat visits. I haven't tried the biking trails yet and will be doing one of their paid activities later this year so more to see. A little on the pricey side but maintaining this large of an area which is more like a very large tree garden rather than raw nature doesn't come cheap.
