Cool Route 66 roadside attraction
One of the must visit places when doing the Route 66 road trip. Lots of mementos sold in the restaurant.
Great setting
What's not to love about one of four Michelin Men in the state of Illinois? This one is a couple miles off of I-55, but a great photo opp, and something to marvel at in general!
Can not wait to return
Yum
The giant is still here
Really cool
Neat
Really neat experience. So cool to see the massive preservation (pun intended) of Route 66. I’ve only heard of Gemini Giant (and most of the other attractions along Route 66 from the tv. If you need to get out and take a break- Route 66 is sure to please you. There’s a lot to see and a lot of great places to eat along the way.
Great photo-op . Worth the stop!
Good food
Great place to visit with family and your classic car!!! A lot of antique s around!!!
Fun stop on Rt. 66! Friendly service and great food.
Very cool! None other like it.
Iconic Rt.66 Launching pad has a great menu. Good food, friendly staff. There is a short wait because everything is made fresh when you order!
Nice and historic preservation buildings beautiful town
Great finale to the GTO weekend at the (nearby) Pontiac-Oakland Museum...a much loved piece of Route 66 history!
It's a great place to take a picture.
I'm giving this 5 stars as a Route 66 landmark. As a diner, it was closed and for sale when I was there. It's a 5-star landmark and home of the Gemini Giant. Now, as a soon-to-reopen diner, I'm giving it 5 stars because I have great faith in the new owners Tully and Holly. (I met them when they were looking to buy the place. I quizzed them about their plans and they impressed me with their vision and determination.) I can't wait to visit the Launching Pad when they re-open.
We had lunch at the launching pad and were able to speak with the new owners. They are preserving and restoring both the restaurant and the Gemini Giant statue. We had a very interesting conversation with the owner, and we also enjoyed a great lunch of a Chicago Dog and an Italian Beef sandwich. We will stop back next time we are in Wilmington.
Cool big guy in a good condition. There is enough parking space and a diner nearby

The cutest little spot I have seen! It was my first Route 66 stop tho :)
Very cool statue. Not far off the highway. Worth the drive.
I miss this place..
Silly awesome statue
One of the 3 famous Muffler Men holding a rocket ship. The restaurant, The Launching Pad serves delicious homemade desserts and Dole whip ice cream - worth the stop!
Stop by and take a picture!
Loved it
Nice place for visitors
A must see.
The Gemini Giant is a landmark statue on U.S. Route 66, the 30 foot tall statue.

(Translated by Google) Recommended ✔️ One of the first places to see when you start Route 66. The truth that caused us a kind of euphoria when we saw the giant. When we went to see The Gemini Giant, the Restaurant next door was for sale. I have seen now that they have opened it !! The next time I make the route I will visit it. The truth is worth a visit to this giant.
Stop in and say hello to Holly and Tully, tell em Ty sent ya!
It is very big
Big metal guy but not that big
It's so wonderful to see this place in action again! I'm looking forward to the day when they will have their full menu. My son and I popped in for a quick bite to eat before we headed to see a play. The atmosphere is grand with so much attention to details and I'm so glad they kept the old tables (I really love maps!). I know a whole lot of love, sweat, money and I'm sure tears, were poured greatly into The Launching Pad. I wish you all the best and look forward to stopping in frequently! Ps)I never had a dole whip, let alone knew what it was, and it was fantastic!! Cheers!
A great statue in the middle of run down parking lot.
Recently repainted!! Great place to stop for a photo!!
It's okay if you are local or happen to be passing by. It's not worth a special trip though. I've heard alot of good things about the launching pad next door
Get your kicks on Route 66! One of the few muffler man left in the country. Dont miss the spot if you are on the mother road.
Its a space man holding a rocket
We had two Chicago dogs and a Polish sausage in Chicago dogs are good in the Polish sausage was OK it was very cool interior and the Gemini giant was awesome. I also had a route 66 orange drink, which was really very good. The day we were there the place was packed.
Exactly what I expected. Great weird item alongside road
Wonderful Route66 site. Make sure to make it one of your stops as they have great snacks and a superb museum.
Small menu and high prices.
It's a one-of-a-kind stop on Route 66 opportunity to take a selfie here is a must
It was cool
Stopped in today checking the place out and met the owners. They were the nicest couple with a great story and I can’t wait to go back and see the place when it’s all finished.
A must visit!! Famous around the world for the statue of the Gemini Giant
A few years ago new people came under management of this building and i guess wanted to open the restaurant back up. It has been a few years since then and the couple now have a crowd funding page to open the business back up. This has the writings of a scam all over it, and this has implications that the couple bought the place on a impulse and didn't think out there decision. If the couple really wanted to open, they could take out a loan and get 75000$ easily. They also have a community of people that shame and insult anybody that is against there business practices. They prey on people who are nostalgic about the restaurant and shame anybody who thinks for more then a few minutes and realizes that if you need to crowdfund 75000$, the they probably aren't the right people to manage the restaurant successfully. In conclusion, do not donate to the crowdfunding campaign and do not trust this couple who owns the restaurant to run it well in the long term.(If they ever get the money to run it)

It's fine. See it if you want.
Great
Great to see they didnt tear it down
Our very first stop ever on Route 66. Was so cool. Great roadside attraction. Also went into the store there called, The Lauch Pad. So cool inside, shirts, stickers, magnets. Owner's are so nice. A must stop.
Update. 7/8/19 This is by far the best quick stop food and ice cream in town. Fresh food, happy employees and amazing desserts. Amazing owners and staff, and happy to be a frequent patron. I recommend it to everyone. 5/3/18 FOOD TRUCK!! (Two reasons to stop). Photo op with the Gemini Giant, and the amazing food from the wonderful ladies at Fork it Dig in food truck. I ordered four different items, and can honestly say all four items: tacos, pulled pork, chicken wrap and a sandwich with chicken bell pepper with strawberry aioli was amazing! Everything was fresh and visually appealing. Great onion rings. I was a little upset I had not visited this place earlier this year.
Awesome owners
We came here once and took a photo with the Gemini Giant.
Food was good
It was something long ago but now it's just the giant. And a run down building. Its an eyesore
Fun neat pics
Cool place to stop and stretch. Nothing else to do there now except take a couple pictures.
This place was weird...but a good weird
Food is well done and some items quite unique. Wonderful place to experience some nostalgia and a meal along historic old Rt. 66!

Great place to visit when touring route 66. Nice place where you can get both food and souvenirs and see the star attraction The Gemini Giant Statue. One of the many Paul Bunyan statues but with a space theme! Friendly people, good food!
history

NOT open.
Yummy food! So happy this place is alive again
Totally worth the stop. Just great to take a picture with this iconic piece of history. The Routhe 66 magic has just started.
Unbelievably awesome Route 66 must see...
Been raised here as a child snd seening him always made me happy
Very Authentic Late 50s Early 60s Vibe
Wish the restaurant had been there, but it was great to see the giant
Route #66 jem. The place is 100x better than what it used to be.!!!!
Landmark of Wilmington. People come from all over to take pictures. He was recently cleaned up.
Great landmark on route 66. Perfect photo spot.
Ok for photo opportunity but sad that restaurant is closed

Good sandwiches
The Apple Pie was fantastic. The staff is friendly!
It's a big Green space dude. Freshly painted though.
Cool Route 66 attraction
It's the ever lovin' Gemini Giant of road trip lore!
