My son loved running through the water to cool off after playing at the Bean and Maggie Daley park
Really the best place in the city to cool off on a bot summer day, for free!
If you don't mind to get wet is a good place
What a wonderful way to expose kids to public art! I stumbled upon this not looking for it or knowing anything about it. Kids played in the water. It's a great idea and a terrific use of public space.
Awesome place! Love the faces! A great representation of Chicago.
Absolutely awesome with or without children. Just a medley of beautiful peole interacting & enjoy the cool blast of sporadic showers on a hot summer day.
Kind of creepy but very cool. Good to people watch or to take your shoes and get your feet wet.
Great for the family. You can paid to have you picture on the building.
The fountain was simply hilarious. Water was gushing out of the platforms all over the place, and the best part is that there is a 15-second favorite sport of the fountain. For 15 seconds, roughly every 2 or 3 minutes, the people, on whom the water pours out on the screen of The fountains' block, appear to spit water from their mouths. Basically, there is a huge hose placed just at the screen of the person's mouth. Please go there! It's right next to the Art Institute of Chicago!
Classic millennium park attraction. Screens splash water in summer.
These things are pretty impressive..and a little creepy .You cant help but stare at them . At one point water pours out of the mouth. The kids were definitely having fun
It's awesome watching all of the people who enjoy going under the waterfalls.
Lovely place in the midst of the city. Kids will love it .
Faces are weird but cool experience!
Too many vagrants looking for a free hand out, you offer some and they then demand more. A threat to go see guys in blue finally sent him packing. Not a good experience for a traveller to your fine city.
Nice place to people watch.
Very cool interactive fountain and water pool feature. The faces change, and then the water spouts out of the picture's mouth! Kids run in and out of the spraying water, and there are 2 face fountains that look at each other with water, which is about 2" deep from the runoff of the spray's a beautiful and fun interactive art display on Grant Park.
Great place for the kids to keep cool at. Just don't forget the water shoes. Little kids slip.
Very nice attraction. I love how people get to be in the water
This was a nice feature. The kids had fun playing in the water and loved the faces that spit water! The water went beyond the designated space so that was a bit messy but kids dont care as much as adults!
I kinda liked the idea of the spout of water coming down from peoples' mouth. The face was much bigger than I though. I tried to imitate the person's face and it was fun :D
I visit this place with my kids and I loved it. When me and my kids went we was running through the water and having fun. Tourists was around and my children was playing with other children from different countries and that was a great experience to see my children play and not worry about color or where they was from This place make great memories for a lifetime. Take lots of pictures if visiting.
Amazing living art piece done.
I love this fountain. Very unique and love the concept. Kids will love wading on the water on warm days. A must see in Grant Park.
Fun to watch the face change and water come out of the mouth of the person !
Amazing. Watching the water spurt from people's mouths and watching people morph into others was great. Also, my wife took a video of me apparently walking on water.
Very cool area in Chicago. Nice place to cool down on a hot summer day. My daughter loved playing in the water.
Nice place to let the kids run around in the water on warm days. Water feels good on tired bare feet too
It's interactive! Stand in the right place for the right duration to trigger the spray. Watch for it's facial expression to dodge. Kids in swimsuits treat it as a water park. Lots of fun.
I like my grands can enjoy getting wet ,I even walk thru the water to cool off but other side water should come out of too.
I mean it's a fountain, filled with people around it. They spit out water and all that. Tourists love this for some reason. There are lots of people around (obviously) and a few feet away is cloud gate and the park for the young ones. The stage and the garden is also near here. Plus some restaurants right in front in which people can go eat or sum
Awesome kid friendly and visitor Location.
Perfect on a hot summer day or anytime you want to see free interactive public art! Bring the kids suits and a towel if you plan to visit the bean! Kids love the randomly times fountains that pour of only a few minutes every 10 minutes or so. Beware the black tiles are scalding hot without shoes. No easily accessible changing rooms or food nearby.
Great for my toddler. It's a like several-basketball-court-sized puddle for stomping around in, plus creepy face animated gargoyle obelisks.
Nice place people watching nice place for picnic
Fun for children, uncanny valley for parents. The large prerecorded faces almost feel alive.
Pure joy watching the children play in the water on a hot summer afternoon.
Loved it. Great place to cool off on a hot day.
this fountain was really amazing to watch as it spit water out of the mouth of the individuals on the screen! My ten-year-old son absolutely enjoyed playing in the water!
Two walls made of glass bricks, projecting photos of people in chicago and it's a fountain where everyone can play with water. Its in millennium park. Enjoy!
Beautiful during the day. Best on hot days! Ahhh the water falling, kids playing and running brings me joy.
Good place too chill n smoke
It was a hot day, great to go take the kids to play on the water..
It's a good place for kids, they can play with a water
Always a nice place to stop.
One of our favorite spots in Chicago. We take the kids here every summer for a splash and pictures. It's usually open May-October and is one of the top 10 photo locations in the city. Kids played in the water as young as 1 but its usually best for kids aged 2.5+ just because there are so many bigger kids running around. The stone slabs can be a bit slippery so be careful. Lots of food options along Michigan Ave as well as the Park Grill.
Did not know about, but it was awesome. Great for summer.
Nice summertime spot to relax and watch the kiddies splash around.
Cute water place. A must go for a kid 2-13, a must see for all ages especially on a hot day. Take a spare set of clothes, and at least get your feet wet.
Cool park, enjoyed the water future there.
Super special place. Perfect for super hot days. Seating around the perimeter for those who don’t want to get wet.
Very unique fountain. My grandson enjoyed seeing the changing faces and playing in the water.
Beautiful place... Truly amazing!
During the heat of July this was a nice break! It was weird seeing the faces in the statues but after finding out it's citizens faces it was really cool! My kids loved the water that spews out of the mouth! Get the kids in swimming gear and let them run around in the heat and enjoy the water! Loved that this was a free experience too! Rec getting an Uber!! Parking looks bad this is the heart of downtown Chicago!
Always a great place to people watch. Kids love it and it's fun to watch them be amazed and amused.
I went on labor day weekend, the weather was great and the park was so much fun. They also had the jazz festival that weekend
Crown Fountain in Chicago's Millennium Park isn't really a fountain at all, not like nearby Buckingham Fountain. But it is one of the most popular attractions in Millennium Park, attracting thousands of spectators daily, especially when the weather is warm. Located at 201 East Randolph, steps from North Michigan Avenue, the modern and spectacular Crown Fountain consists of two 50-foot-high glass towers flanking a 232-foot granite plaza. Designed by Spanish artist Jaume Plensa and financed with a $10 million donation from the Crown Family, the two glass towers are illuminated with LED lighting that shows moving images of Chicagoans' faces. Each face is shown for about five minutes ending when the subject purses its lips at which point water spouts from their mouths, to the delight of children who try to position themselves under the water. The Chicagoans, who were selected from various organizations, include people of all ages, from toddlers to senior citizens. The walls of the towers are made of clear glass bricks. At night, they seem to glow. During the day, the LED lights show faces on the side facing the central plaza. Besides the water spouting digital faces, cascades of water fall down the sides of the towers, creating a water curtain in front of the glass walls. Children especially love the fountain. Many walk under the water cascades or try to stand directly under the water spout.
A really fun social space in our beloved windy city
Great sightseeing spot. Peaceful, open air, and near great places to shop and eat. Can miss visiting the crown fountain!
This place was very interesting... who are the people they chose? Kids were going bonkers over this fountain
Wonderful collection of people and kids enjoying a fabulous Chicago attraction.
The unique fountain displaying the faces of Chicago visitors and residents spurting water is always a cool sight to behold.
Everybody must love it. It's so fun.
One of the most popular places in Chicago. Must to visit for family with kids.
very interesting. Fun for family. It is a must see if you come to Chicago.
It was pretty cool to see the sculpture. We went on a day that wasn't that warm, but there were kids still playing in the water. It was interesting and I would want to see it again on a hot day so my kiddo could play in the water, as there was water cascading from the sculpture.
Magic place! Art and water park for the kids. A place to spent some time on.
This photo says it all! Fun place especially for kids. Very touristy. Water is cold if you're brave enough to play around in these waterfall faces!
A must see in Chicago, Millennium Park and the Crown Fountain are spectacular in the summer. We enjoyed watching all the kids running around and splashing around the fountain. Great to be a kid!
This fountain is great for kids of all ages that want to get wet. There is a mural projected on the walls that you an see spits out a large flow of water that the kids love to stand in front of. The howling at the anticipation of the water being spit out of the projection is hilarious. It was lovely to watch the kids run in and out of the fountain when it came on. The faces of the people on the fountain facade were animated and then the water spurted from their mouth. A relaxing place to watch kids at play in the water.
During the summer months, the tall face towers open their mouths and spit out water on you unexpectedly
I should have taken my shoes off to play here for a while, but unfortunately I couldn't as there were time constraints. But would recommend spending time here to enjoy the cool breeze and play around the fountains. Kids will love this place :) Crown Fountain has been one of the most controversial of all the Millennium Park features. Before it was even built, some were concerned that the sculpture's height violated the aesthetic tradition of the park. After construction, surveillance cameras were installed atop the fountain, which led to a public outcry (and their quick removal). However, the fountain has survived its contentious beginnings to find its way into Chicago pop culture. It is a popular subject for photographers and a common gathering place. While some of the videos displayed are of scenery, most attention has focused on its video clips of local residents. The fountain is a public play area and offers people an escape from summer heat, allowing children to frolic in the fountain's water. (Some info sourced from Google, pictures and review are my own)
A modern take on an outdoor public fountain. Where Buckingham Fountain is spectacular to see, Crown Fountain is much more interactive. Kids and adults playing in the water on a hot day. Not too bad if you ask me. It's located right near the Bean (Cloud Gate) art display, so it's easy access from mass transit.
I was really impressed!, will cost soon again.
It was cute and unique. Definitely recommend for people with kids.
Nice place to cool off and relax
Having water only for summer time. Maybe after April. Cause I didn't see when I go on trip last week. But the fact is very interesting!
Really cool sight, and the kids loved playing in the fountains!
Neat experience. Good plays for kids to run around in the fountains on a hot summer day.
Well it is spectacular the first time you see it, but I wouldn't make a special trip just to see it again. Fortunately it is not alone. There are a whole cluster of such at the park so it is worth enjoying if your hotel is nearby.
Always fun to visit Crown Fountain; it's Chicago's "Urban Beach."
Great place to spend afternoon here with child. But if you want to take a great photo without anyone. Come here before 7:00.
Love this place took granddaughter but 1 fountain wasn't working
A Very Great Place for you & your family. Just remember to Bring Extra Clothes or swim wear & a towel. But Just Go & Have Fun
Beautiful as always. Unfortunately dogs are not allowed anywhere in the park
Great place to cool off, on these hot summer days
We visited Crown fountain. And the bean. Crown fountain was everything we expected it to be! My daughter is 8, my son is 2. They slashed and played in the water for hours. The fountain is on until 11:00 PM The water IS chlorinated. Which is good. We were worried about over crowding but there is plenty of room for everyone. The walls light up with pictures of ppl and about every 10 minutes or so (someone said five but it seems longer) the wall spews water from mouth of the person in the picture. I loved the diversity of races shown at the fountain! My daughter was so excited when she saw “the black girl” lol! Be sure to bring everything you would bring for a visit to a small water park. Sunscreen, towels, change of clothes, swim diaper.. snacks.
Fun place to go for a stroll, play with water for the kids. Especially during summer days. Great views of the city skyline and happening
Was wonderful watching the kids anticipating the water in the hot sun.
A favorite place to go to cool off or just chill my kids love it here so much!
It was amazing to see a piece of work come to life
Pictures on this fountain keeps on changing... Waterflow keeps on changing.. This place is fun for children.. Especially in summer..
Fun for kids and parents...good place for a rest
Unique artistic fountain! Two face fountains that look at each other. The thing I liked most about the Crown fountain is that the faces that were projected onto the towers were all actual people who lived in Chicago (cool concept, isn't it?). The faces change and then the water spouts out of the pictures mouth. It's beautiful to watch the faces change. Lots of other things to do in the vicinity as well - The bean, millenium park, art institute, etc.
I thought this was a really unique artistic fountain. It's really cool how it doubles as art and sort of a water park for small kids. One thing I really liked about the Crown fountain is that the faces that were projected onto the towers were all actually people who lived in Chicago. That's just a very cool concept.
I find this kinda creepy but its cute in a way
Super fun and unique fountain for kiddos. A splash pad, essentially, and every 10 minutes or so, the giant faces spit water out to all the giggling children. The only think that kept it from 5-stars, was that there was little seating for the amount of people there on a July day, and there were areas near the seating that had standing water that had been there for some time. It was rank. Otherwise, a perfect place to cool off in the heat!
Beautiful! If you have children they will absolutely love it here! Honestly even if you don't have children it's a must see. My children and grandchildren loved it! I'm attaching a picture. Don't hesitate to drop in. FYI parking is expensive! My belief is that's the reason why the park is free
Lots of children playing at the fountain. Very interesting face art on the wall. Dont need more than 10 minutes to finish this spot.
Love coming here and watching the faces change. A great place to bring kids in the summer to play in the water. Lots of other things to do in this general vicinity such as The Bean, Grant Park, and the Art Institute.
Best place for kids, safe and convenient if you're heading downtown! Kids can swim and play in the heart of the loop.
Very unique. The children play in the water. It's just something special that you cannot explain. Beautiful! ❤
It's a fun little area for a family, and maybe just to sit and rest, and people watch for a while.
My girls had a blast running around the fountains and were anxiously waiting for the water to "spit" out. I'm happy we made this a stop while touring the City!
This place was super cute! Everyone looked like they were having so much fun.
Awesome place to visit if you are in the city with kids. Maggie Daley Park is within the same area as well as the bean and the art institute
Extremely creative and a lovely spot just to hang our and see a waterfall-tower with faces that will randomly spit a huge amount of water while kids go crazy
Worth the stop...especially in pretty weather.
It is very fun for the children because they can play in the water
Slpish splash. Hope there isn't to much bacteria in here for the kids. Kids love it. Parents love it too, you can sit rest and watch the kids enjoy the water. It's slippery don't let your little ones run.
This place was amazing. When I go 2 Chicago this is the place I love 2 c.
This is one of the unique attractions in Millenium park area. Before the sunset its like 2 normal colums from which water falls and people enjoy getting wet. The faces they project on the columns after sunset are great and make up for a great way to relax and pass your time. Really great concept executed well. A must visit if youre visiting Millenium Park/cloud gate.
I took the kids there we had so much fun
This is a great place to bring the kids in chicago on a warm day. The fountain has a pool of water to splash in (zero depth pool), and the sculptures spray water when the faces open their mouths. There are bathrooms a few hundred feet away beneath Cloud Gate (The Bean).
Very clean! And we enjoyed very much. Specially my kid, looking at the different faces that popped that was amazing!!!!!
Neat HD sculpture with water feature. I've never seen anything like this!
This place is great for families trying to escape the heat! Although it gets pretty packed in the summertime, it's a great place to cool your feet if you're walking about the city.
Pretty fun during the hot days with the kids.
Great fountain, couldn't appreciate the faces on it though
The best place in the city for me. I love to just sit down here and relax.
Coolest piece of outdoor art I've ever seen, visit on a warm day when u can take your shoes off roll up your pants and walk through the water...
Pretty awesome monument/art using actual faces from Chicago people. Definitely unique and worth a few minutes to go check it out and watch a full cycle of faces and the fountain being on.
The kids love this! It's also a great place to cool off on a hot summer day. Please hit thumbs up if this review is helpful.
Great place to kick your flip flops off, walk around in the cool water on a hot summer day. Friendliest place in the city.
Very cool 'fountain'! I really liked that people used it to cool off when I was there on a hot day. But the coolest are the 2 continually changing faces, and every few minutes spouting water from their mouths.
Such an interesting and unique experiance for a water fountain. And you can go and play around it and in it or you. An sit back and enjoy the scene ..at night there is a light show they do..super cool..does have a tiny bit of a pipe/egg smell when it comes to the water but is faint. Not all people detected the smell..so it is faint.
Very cool interactive fountain and water pool feature. The faces change and then the water spouts out of the pictures mouth! Kids run in and out of the spraying water and there are 2 face fountains that look at each other with water that is about 2" deep from the run off of the spray. It's a beautiful and fun interactive art display on Grant Park.
If you're going to go see the Bean, you really need to check this out as well! The fountains are so trippy when you watch the picture of a person spitting water out at the people. Hilarious! Definitely worth a visit, especially on a hot day and with kids!
It's wonderful, especially when weather is hot.
A super unique fountain, not many places like this. A little unnerving even. Super cool and I recommend coming by it. You can bring a child with swim trunks and they could even play in the water.
It was a hot day, we sat here and watched hundreds of kids and a few adults walk in the water. Every so often water would spew from the figures mouth and the kids would run to let it pour on them. Was not aware that this existed but was fun to watch.
Wonderful! My very first time I've been there. It was cool!
It's beautiful just watch out for the water.
It's a great place for the kids when they want to place when the weather is hot.
So so good but boys was following me and my friend so but when is hot that is very very good
Awesome experience and display. Lots of interactivity with the fountain. Great stop to admire while in Chicago, Illinois
A great place to hang out on a hot summer day, kids will love it!
So cool. Especially on super hot days. Great place to hang with the kiddies for a free "splash pad" experience
