REVIEWS OF Cloud Gate IN Illinois

Juan Rondon

Nice place, clean and very open, many other places of interest are close by, the Cloud gate is massive, I have to step back quite some to take a full picture. There's a cafeteria below it and the whole area is great to hangout.

J BK

The Famous place in Chicago. I recommend you to visit here if you haven't been here before. I went to there in afternoon. It was quite busy.

Ryan Velting

Pictures of the "bean" are ways cool, but seeing it in person is amazing!

Tatyana Foster

A little while ago, my family and I visited Chicago, and Cloud Gate was a big hit! We took a bunch of fun pictures, and now we can say that we touched The Bean in Chicago, haha! The whole experience at Chicago was amazing, and Cloud Gate was a really interesting thing to go see. Of course, it was very busy during the summer, and trying to navigate through all the fellow tourists can be frustrating. But, I’m sure if you go after the school year starts, you will have a less crowded time there. Definitely recommend going to see it!

Robyn Snyder

A must see in Chicago! Bought a glass of wine in the park, walked across and enjoyed the view from picnic tables that were set up. A beautiful evening setting.

Michael Mcroberts

Its a great sight to see. And the city has a lot to within walking distance... And parking garages are not to high on prices.

Brad Bern

This is one those pieces of 'must see' art! Every visitor I have in town is taken to this iconic object! Set inside a fantastic park in downtown Chicago right alongside Michigan Ave. The city does a great job keeping it cleaned up and shining bright. This structure has become a true piece of the Chicago skyline. Take everyone here and climb underneath for a fun distorted reality

Jazmin Mascorro

Came to see the Bean on a Sunday and it was packed with people. I didn’t have any other plans so I sat on a park bench and enjoyed people watching for an hour. The park is really big with lots of space to hang out. It was really cool to see the Bean but I wish I had gone earlier when there were less people.

Paranormal Society

This is one cool sculpture. While I had it known as the bean, it is a masterpiece all of its own. It is very easy to go to and there is lots of other things in this park to see as well. You have to make you take the picture here. This place is always crowded so be quick and see a great piece of Chicago.

Sarthak Banga

The thought to see the city through the artistic sculpture. The city needs such places to bring public together! Walk into this place to experience something different in the landscape fabric of Chicago.

Destinations Untold

Cloud gate or famously known to locals as "The Bean". If your interested in getting a photo without the crowds first thing in the morning is the best time. Also head up to Cindy's for a drink and a bite to eat on Michigan Ave and you'll enjoy one amazing aerial view.

Joe McAfee

My kids and I were passing through Chicago at 1:30 in the morning so we stopped for a quick visit but we had security come running out of nowhere yelling at us that they were closed. Because we were just passing through and I explained that to the security women they gave us 30 seconds to go take a quick picture which I thought was very nice of them.

sumeet mittal

Architecture delight... must visit.... millenium park and lots of eating joints nearby make this a nice spot for visitors

Marc Rucker

I couldn't get pics to load on my phone but it was worth the walk from our hotel. Only 7/10th of a mile from the hotel. So much to see and enjoy on the walk. Then my kids were amazed at the bean. Very cool. I know it a tourist thing but it is so cool .

Mike D

This mirrored bean-shaped landmark is an interesting piece of design art. Plus this is a great place for views of the Chicago skyline.

Myles Mannix

Of course we had to stop and get a picture. It was very busy but lots of room for each person/family to get a picture taken. The walk up to it is nice through the garden. Had a good time looking for this iconic land mark.

John Co

Ahhhhhh the magic bean. Definitely a must see in Chicago. Kinda weird at first to know the orientation of the reflections but very fun. Lots of people so expect to share selfies with everyone.

Shawn W

such a cool thing to see, especially on a sunny day.

Greg Muenchen

Such a unique experience for outdoor art. Definitely recommend for anyone who has not seen it before. It's truly amazing! Also check out other art in Millennium Park. There are all kinds of neat things nearby.

Brian Hartman

Stopped here twice. Really a cool installation. We were here at night and during the day. The views down Michigan Ave are really nice and very fun reflected in the Bean. The surrounding park/garden is very well maintained and well worth a walk. Highly recommend.

Nathaniel Schiesl

mirrored bean. that is what chicago is known for. new york city has the empire state building and the statue of liberty, the bay area has the golden gate bridge, los angeles with the hollywood sign, chicago has a big, mirrored bean. 5/5

Jim Mason

Amazing, especially on a sunny day - you can get some really cool photos

Layla Farah

That's a very cool piece of art! Love it! Definitely a must for any traveller!

Tim Nolen

It is quite amazing how clean the area was. It was also quite amazing how it just kept getting busy and busier throughout the day.

Alexis Brown

I loved seeing the Big Bean in Chicago (born and raised) but know when you go to visit in the summer time. It can get very very hot near the bean. But the best way to cool down is to get underneath the bean in the shade other than that it's really hot it's about a hundred degrees but if you can handle the heat hey, go for it

guru shankar

I would prefer to visit this place during day time when it’s not very warm, unfortunately we visited on a very warm day. Nice place to click pics ,nothing much to do . Visiting at night ppl said us we won’t get good pics due to reflections . Must visit if you are touring Chicago

Darlene Rodriguez

Very very crowded but cool place to visit honestly

Miracle Jacobs

Always nice to take friends to see such an iconic fixture!

Otto Rascon

Iconic Chicago. Check it out and take tons of photos if you're near the "Bean". I'd highly recommend walking around the entire grounds.

Babs K

It's a cool bean, except it can get very, VERY hot near the bean. Also check out other art in Millennium Park. There are all kinds of neat things nearby. You can just gaze at it for ever and it is so interactive which is funny because it does move or do anything but sit there.

Min Kim

Way bigger than I imagined. Great to see it in person. Fun sculpture.

Anil Pochampally

This is the best place, where every non Chicago resident wanted to see. its a great sculpture in the heart of downtown. you can take many pictures. but little crowdy

Sarah Sutton

It's The Bean in Chicago, what more is there to say? You're never going to find this place empty unless it's very late or very early, so embrace the other tourists as if they are part of the art.

Quinton Boone

The Bean was clean and took care of good place to take friends and family

Tony Huang

It is like an

Ganna Lytvynenko Amorim

One of the coolest monuments that anyone should see in America! The reflectiveness of the bean is really cool for taking photos, especially on a sunny day. Was a little busy with tourists like myself on the day that I went but still nice to wall around it and underneath it. Feels like an adventure on the inside when going through the bean. Also Chicago is really windy, they're not joking around with the name, so be sure to bring a jacket when you go.

Van Tran

The bean never disappoints. Took my boyfriend here for the first time and he loved it.

Francis Raymundo

If you're visiting Chicago, Cloud Gate aka THE BEAN, aka EL FRIJOLE, aka giant metal sculpture thingy is an absolute must. Literally it's a huge metal bean sculpture sitting in the middle of the park and depending what angle you snap from you can get some pretty pictures with the skyline or a nice lonely selfie. Cost: It's FREE! Best times to visit: 7am or earlier. Beat the tourists and get a picture with no crowds for that epic Instagram pic. Guaranteed 100+ likes. Times to avoid: Summertime during the day. Just way too many people. Or during a thunderstorm. Generally giant metal structures and lightening aren't a good combination. Anyways, that's all I got. 'Til next time!

AlanIsNotEmo

If i’m being honest, the bean is okay. There isn’t really much to offer honestly. As for someone who live in Chicago it’s cool to see once in a while.

Anne Formanek

Just fun! Great place to people watch as everyone enjoys interacting with the sculpture, snapping photos and playing around. Lots of smiles :)

Steve Formoso

Such a cool thing to see if you are visiting Chicago! Take some pictures when you walk underneath and there are some great pictures of the skyline from this area

deepa singh

Very nice place to visit. It is free and located inside Millenium park. But its overcrowded, so many tourists are all over it. I visited on Monday but still there was thousands of people. But yes worth to visit if you are coming by metro get down at Monroe stop, it is just 0.9 miles walk from there.

Kimberly

Wasn’t sure if we were going to make the trip downtown to see the bean, but we were glad we did. Pretty cool to look at and there was a lot of shopping and good eats in the surrounding area. Handicap accessible.

Beulah Lane

It's an attractive piece of public art, providing a reflection of all who approach it. Smart phones' ability to manipulate images in real-time may blunt the impact of the artwork, but it is especially beautiful on a sunny blue-sky day, …

Goh Chin

Thanks to the designer of cloud gate. This a great sculpture, Chicago should feel proud that she has this masterpiece. I brought visitors from oversea to see it. They were so excited. They were so amazed with it. So much fun we had, of course a lot of photos are taken.

Raul Rincon

Cool piece of art in a very nice park. Lots to do here

Christopher Stephens

The only time you'll see the actual location void of people is during the apocalypse when no one will be around. When you go there, be prepared to navigate around a ton of people just to get a photo with everyone in it. This can't be helped. Do not try to stand on the tables and benches to get a better photo because security will instruct you not to. It's a nice place but I think it's better during the spring and summer. Go there, take the photo and move on. Give it a try.

Roman Chumakov

Very interesting attraction in Chicago. A must see at least once.

syed ali

Beautiful bean shaped structure in Chicago's millennium park. It does get really crowded in summer but you don't wanna miss it. Make sure you go all around it to take pictures, it gives you different perspective. Also, don't forget to go underneath.

Julia Burke

After having seen this structure here and other websites and literature I knew we just had to see it. It is one of the most incredible pieces of art ever. Awe inspiring. You can just gaze at it for ever and it is so interactive which is funny because it does move or do anything but sit there. This is a true gem for Chicago. Millenium Park which it sits in is also very wonderful. Lots to see and stroll through. Gardens, pathways, scenery. This area is not to be missed if you are visiting downtown Chicago. I took lots of pics and video and did a pretty neat video of it. It was fun. It is busy in the daytime and a little less crowded in the evening. Go just when the sun is setting. The lighting is great as the city lights up.

Joe Cera

Really cool. Area is kept clean but the bean isn't. I can't imagime how shiny this would be if it was wiped down. Many tourists that will ask if you can take their picture. Plenty shiny in real life, just like the pictures.

joanna pecina

It's the bean! Tons of people will be in your pictures, so just go with it. They have tables to sit and people watch. The park is super nice overall. You're forced to park underground for $28/3hrs!

David Contreras

My mind was blown and I miss it already! Absolutely a magnificent sculpture. Something I could see my self observing for quite some time. On top of the beautiful sculpture there are pathways you can walk as well as food trucks and tons of shops close by to get a coffee or some food. Absolutely a must see!

Tyler Hicks

Fun just make sure to not bang ur head into the massive bean

Nick From Chi-Town

Is it touristy? Yes. But it's great for people watching and unlike most tourist attractions, it's free to visit. I'm not sure that I would go out of my way to see it, but it's worth a visit if you're nearby. Also a big plus for being situated right above Millennium Station!

David Karamalakis

On our recent trip to Chicago, my fiance insisted we had to stop to see THE BEAN. I'm glad she did because it's so cool io close. And the amphitheatre or stage or venue is so cool too. If you go to Chi town and don't go to millennium park, you're really missing out!

Diana Lam

There’s something about this cloud sculpture that looks like a bean. A literal giant bean. Wow. I came in from out of town for Lolla. And I visited this bean twice. It was great. A must see.

Tracey Mattos

The city of Chicago is beautiful. It entices all people in all walks of life. Between the beautiful gardens and landscaping,, sculptures, architecture and the music festival that was going on while we were there. It makes for a wonderful experience that I would recommend to everyone.

Sweet Pea

Very cool experience! I just so happen to be visiting during the Chicago Jazz Festival, and this made it that much more worth it! Such a nice atmosphere, food, music and vibe! The cool pictures you can take with the Cloud Gate are admirable as well! Don't question, just visit! Do it!

Samuel Waggoner

Cloud Gate or "the bean" was not the most impressive thing for me in Millenium Park, but it is definitely worth taking the time to see. I do think it is more impressive than a lot of the pictures can show. The crowd stayed pretty large around the bean the whole time we were there, and anytime we walked by it, so don't expect to get a picture of just you and your loved ones. And make sure to spend some time exploring the rest of the park.

Muhammad Sajjad

It’s a beautiful art in millennium park . Very nice atmosphere. It must see in Chicago very beautiful n unique art, it looks very simple but I think it’s a really a piece of art and truly amazing . It’s free to visit and highly recommended. Especially for kids :)

Mark B

Incredible sculpture so much fun to play around and underneath. 100 tons of steel , the artist Karpoor expects Cloud Gate to last 1000yrs Amazing.

Brian Thornton

A wonder of public art that engages everyone. Busy with kids taking a dip. Very imaginative use of an open space in the middle of the city. Bring a change of clothes if you have little kids.

Sudsy Frags

THE BEAN HAS PLEASED ME GREATLY. I HOPE TO RETURN FOR ANOTHER RITUAL AND VIEWING OF THIS GLORIOUS WORK OF GOD HIMSELF. THE BEAN HELPS ME

Stacey Halse

Classic Chicago tourist spot! But it’s exciting to watch everyone here, and the reflection pictures they take. If you get the right angles you can also get some great pictures of the Chicago skyline. Can be busy, so be ready to be patient depending what you want for photography purposes. Tons to do around this area as well.

Jon Samuelson

Interesting art piece, but always crowded. We got there at sunrise and it was already busy. Luckily we found a good angle that hardly anyone else was in the shot, but an hour after sunrise that would’ve been impossible.

Irandira Gonzalez

So cool, the vibe is chill. You can see your reflection from the bean and under it, it looks trippy. Did you really go to Chicago if you didn’t get a picture with the bean?

Andrew Daniel

This is definitely one of the places to visit in Chicago with a mirror like image that shows the beautiful sky and Chicago's skyline can makes it a treat for photographers. I visited this place in the month of December and wow it was beautiful around the snow time and this place is definitely the Windy City and for kids and even elders the skating area around the park near is a beautiful recreation spot. A beautiful place to visit with cruises if you like around the Michigan lake and restaurants to fill your stomachs, this place for a second will make you feel like you have suddenly landed in New York City.

Prateek Tomar

People told me to visit it during the day, I think they were totally right because it's not very well lit up at night. But I can't believe the photos that come out with slower shutter speed at night. these are not even with a SLR, it's my note 10. Beautiful glimpse of Chicago downtown..

Jennifer V

Very cool piece of art! Despite being very crowded I was able to get a few good photos. Easy to find, and a must see if you are visiting Chicago. After seeing the bean in countless friends pics I was so happy to finally see it in person.

Shivangi Arora

This is one of the most appreciated piece here in Chicago. We went there around evening and the place was not that much crowded and hence I was able to get some decent shots. The bean mirrors the beauty of Chicago! The skyline on one side and the green view on the other. The surrounding park/garden is very well maintained and well worth a walk. Lots of eating joints in the surrounding area. Handicap accessible.

Prashanth Balasubramaniam

Place was good. Lively and vibrant. Attraction had good amount of visitors.

Nathan Scott

Great park, and open air stage in downtown. Walk though the parks to the lake if you want or just see the bean. Worth checking out

Michelle Hill

Such a unique view of the world. The joy of people around you while there is so evident. A must see item in Chicago.

Gareth Henry

The cloud gate was a very interesting place to visit. It is in a great location very close to soldier field. The cloud gate or “the bean” as it is known is something that pictures do not do justice to. I wish there was a plaque or something else like that to explain the meaning behind it.

Phil Madsen

Took my family visiting from out of town here and we had a great time. Super clean and a good vibe.

Tonisha Thorpe

This fountain was amazingly beautiful! The refreshing water was exhilarating on this hot day. Several different faces are used at this beautiful site.

Jeff Markel

This was my 2nd visit to The Bean. I enjoy The Bean. Based on the crowd, everyone enjoys The Bean. Makes for some fun selfies. Go see The Bean.

Yessenia Ruiz

It was a really good place very beautiful. Overall I would definitely go there again.

Ben Gardner

Interesting, but I don't see what all the fuss is about. Lots of tourists taking funny photos. It's a BEAN, people!!!

Thea Banis

The Bean

Gregory Rosic

An architectural masterpiece! It is so simple, but yet so beautiful how it reflects the city and looks different from every side. Also fun for kids with sprinklers nearby and in a central location to parks and shopping. In the morning the sun can bring angular light directly on it which is something to be seen

Esteban Castillo

Of course there is a lot of people taking pictures so don't expect a picture of you alone with the "bean". It is amazing how everything reflects in it.

Shivam Trivedi

Chicago’s tourist trap, the bean aka Cloudgate, makes for cool pictures that you can share with your friends and prove that you were in Chicago. It’s cool to see all the reflections. This place is a no brainer to visit if you’re visiting …

Fatma Pir-Cakmak

Such a interesting structure. It is so much fun to try to find yourself in all these reflections. One of the places in Chicago you have to visit.

Karen Romero

Amazing!! Even with the whole traffic, it's an amazing place. ✌

Kimberly-Anne Jaco

The Bean! You have to go here! It's a must do on your list for Chicago. Very cliché but still very worth it. It gets packed really quickly so I'd go early or around sunset. It's an easy walk from other hot spots so it's very convenient. We got really cool shots from "under" the bean too. It was nice to check it off of our list

monika limbu

It was fun taking pictures. More fun watching people take funny postures for pictures

Ryan Wilsey

If you find yourself walking through Chicago Cloud Gate is a great stop on your path. I was amazed by the sheer size of it!

Armil Biag

Great tourist destination. We bring our out of town guest here and they love it. Lots of walking around.

Abel Agullo

Great spot and a must do in Chicago. Even though there are always lots of people the place is worth a visit. It’s amazing when you go underneath it... There are some benches and tables to sit next to it. So you can enjoy your coffee or snack while you enjoy the view. If you plan to take some pictures you Breyer go early or you will find it surrounded with people. You can easily walk there from the subway station as is just 2 blocks away.

Colton Langford

This is just simply one of those “must sees” of Chicago. It’s a beautiful and unique piece of art. Be sure to go under it as the visual effects are pretty wild. Nearby in walking distance is the Institute of Art as well as many other sights in the park. Be sure to pick up a Chicago style hot dog at a stand while in the park too, delicious.

Priya N

It is more popularly known as "The Bean". Amazing architecture piece at Millennium Park in the heart of downtown Chicago on the Michigan Avenue. A must visit for a beautiful capture of Chicago skyline!!

Ross Fiorello

Fun and free tourist attraction in downtown Chicago, very close to the Art Institute. Great opportunities for unique and fun photos, any time of the day. Because it's a popular tourist attraction, it was pretty crowded when we went, but for the most part people were polite and shared the space pretty well.

Eddie Avila

Crowded during the day, but pleasant at night. I'd recommend going near opening or closing time, least crowded and better photo opportunities. I plan on going again while visiting, shoot for park open of 6am!

Anabel Pachano-Arismendi

Beautiful the way it reflects the city. It looks like they never clean the bean and it is very crowded all the time. But is a really nice spot to take good pictures

Christen Juhl

Great spot to take pictures, centrally located, and makes for a scenic stop if walking along Michigan Avenue or Millenium Park.

Iam Riza

This is one of the most appreciated piece here in Chicago. Before, I am wondering why it is so famous and now I know why. It is truly magnificent. When I was here, the place was not so crowded so I was able to position myself for photo-ops! Getting closer to the bean, you may appreciate the beauty of the mirror of the sky if on the inner side and the buildings on the outer part of it. The bean mirrors the beauty of Chicago! In the midst of city, there’s still place for recreation and fun.
