For my was so expencive but the gave me the opcion to visit on tuesday at 2 o'clock, FREE.

Martha Jacques

First visit to Chicago. Wanted to get some history in. Knowledgeable tour guides.

Peggy Hayden

This museum is small but has many things of interest. Unfortunately, the dioramas are dimly little and very difficult to see. When we asked about this, a staff said that this was done to "maintain the artifacts". We just don't believe this. We have been to 100s of museums, large and small on 6 continents and have never experienced this. You must fix this. Also, the head phones did not work properly. We returned them to the desk, got second pairs and they too didn't work properly. We returned these too only to hear staff tell us that this happens a lot.

Guy Miller

So intresting , one of the best i've ever been. from the great fire. to the blues. the meat industry followed by metal. Motorola. Al Capone . a must visit

Joanie Franken

Excellent museum about history of Chicago. Perfect size, is great for an afternoon, you can see everything. Be sure to have lunch there too, really good quality food, and service, with very reasonable prices. Oops, I let you know about our secret gem in the neighborhood to eat at!

Donal Drayne

The Chicago History Museum is a great place to get a very diverse history of Chicago. Well worth a visit and a very short walk from Lake Michigan.

slim lzbn

As a Chicago resident this is one of my faves. And as a tourist this is a MUST SEE! Whenever I want to give up on my city I come here and I am revamped with the love for my city. So much to see and experience.

Anita Stamps

Awesome ! This museum is very informative and huge. Definitely worth the price.

Cell 1

I cannot rate this museum highly enough. From the exhibit quality to every friendly member of staff this is a gem and something Chicago must be proud of. Plenty inside to be interested in and great mix for children (maybe older ones) and adults. This is a learning experience but not flashing lights and whistles. There is an entrance charge but exhibits are open and no extra charges once inside (couple of trains to board inside). The cafe on site is a must as really good quality food and pleasant to sit outside next to park. The staff made a real difference to this trip and thanks to lovely older lady in gift shop too. Thank you (overseas visit from United Kingdom).

John Villasana

This is a very well designed museum. Come here if you want to fall in love with the soul of Chicago.

Kevin Burton

Totally enjoyed our day at the Chicago Historic Museum as the exhibits are well laid out and very interesting. Loved the all the information about the Worlds Fair that took place in the 30s, Martin Luther King exhibit, the Great Fire in the late 1800s, President Lincoln and his time in Chicago, and so much more. Lots to see and read as we did not do the audio tour.

Tricia Kelly

Not terrible, but not great either. Some exhibits are near impossible to see they are so dimly lit. Also, I recommend going on free days. I do not believe it is worth a $19 entrance price. I wandered around slowly and finished in less than an hour and a half.

Yolanda Rebolloso

I love history ! Do you ?

Joaquin Reyes

I would wait for a free day, but the museum is definitely a great place to waste some time. They make you check in your bags and have many bored, zombie like employees trying to stay awake. Enjoyed my time, but not the greatest for children that are not reading or in school.

may12806hh

Was chaperone for my kid field trip. Very good. Movie, place and staff all clean & friendly. Been there 2 yrs ago now is my 2nd time. GOOD AS B4!!! BRING THE KID & LEARN CHICAGO OUR HOME TOWN!!!

Amazing collection of art. Provides you with a huge variation of art form across the globe through time.

michael flynn

Free Tuesday with live music. I loved their blues display.

Derek Moore

I thought this was a great museum to go to near Lincoln Park. Expect to spend 1-2 hours to see most of the museum. There are many exhibits to through for all ages. Make sure you have eaten before you arrive because the Cafe onsite doesn't have a lot of options.

Mike Moroney

Fantastic place. Takes a whole day to explore.

Le Va

Our first museum visit in the city. Far from downtown. Full of history. You might need around two hours to visit all the galleries.

Dyfed Richards

Great place to start your Chicago discovery. Just make sure you go when the school groups are not there.

Linda Christy

Fairly easy to drive into the city to catch new exhibits. Like this place for good fresh lunch counter service in beautiful lunchroom overlooking Chicago. On ground floor. Great gift shop. Roomy exhibit areas. Fun facts about Chicago. Big but small enough to take in two museums in one day.

Kate Leibfried

Very impressed by the Chicago History Museum. The displays were nicely put together with plenty to look at and read. We did a short guided tour (about 30 min) at the beginning and I'd definitely recommend that. There's currently a jazz display going on and it was super interesting and interactive.

Bill Gendel

Awesome " hidden gem" close to Lincoln Park. Lots to see and do. Diverse sets of exhibits and a great easy layout. Plan at least 3 hours to see it all and not be rushed. We learned lots of new things, even with Chicago being our home town. Well worth the visit. We parked with Spot Hero nearby and it wasn't too bad, also ate in the neighborhood, which has many many choices.

Henry Beltran

great spot to visit, nice staff

Sam Elliott

Visited here today as to be honest, we didn't know that much about the history of Chicago and wanted to understand a bit more about it's heritage. Overall not a bad museum with alot of information and friendly staff. Do feel it would benefit from some more interactive parts to the exhibits as it was alot to take in purely by reading but this is personal preference. Would recommend and go back.

louis jackson

Just awesome love everything about it

Justin Barker

Museum is good, needs to talk more about modern times another and the impact multiculturalism has had in recent times. Price was a bit steep.

Brad Ehlert

Really nice facility with lots of interesting exhibits. Well worth the price of admission. My advice is to forget the headsets and just walk the exhibits and read the information provided. Trying to follow the audio tour with the headsets was confusing and the headsets are old and have some quality issues.

Natasha Madkins

Lovely museum. I especially liked the Martin Luther King, Chicago Blues and Chicago Neighborhood exhibits. The volunteers were very helpful and patient with the children in our group.

Lydia Jorgensen

Very nice museum! Low prices, and definitely worth visiting! I loved the exhibits they had, especially the one focused on freedom. Also, the exhibit about Martin Luther King Jr was extraordinary!

Victoria Hall

Really enjoyed the permanent exhibit Chicago crossroads of America and the temporary silver screen to mainstream. Spent about 2-3 hours here and watched the movie!

Syed zaidi

If you are visiting Chicago and interested in History. DO VISIT, not a huge museum but it covers alot.

S. Benford

This is an excellent outing with the kids if you are looking for something for all ages. Kids were 14, 20, 9, 4 and 1. We thoroughly enjoyed the blues exhibit; it was very interactive. The fashion exhibit was fun for all of us, providing a glimpse through time as various styles transitioned from the big screen to the streets of Chicago. The children's area was fun for the little kids. Not to mention 18 and under are free! Teachers are also free! I'd strongly recommend it. Staff was very helpful with recommendations as well.

Sam R

Chicago History Museum is one of my favorite museums. I have lived in Chicago all my life and I've been coming here since I was a kid on field trips. The museum has amazing programs for students and educators. Now being a teacher, I take my students here for field trips and my students and I love it. I was also able to buy three of my Christmas presents at the gift store. Of course, things can be pricey; however, if you look through the selection you can find some great pieces for inexpensive prices. If you love learning about history and in depth learning about Chicago, then the Chicago History Museum is the place to visit.

Tanya Lavrishin

Nice museum! I recommend starting from the top and working your way down. It’s nice that kids under 12 are free but it feels so dangerous to walk across the busy street with the kids. Also make sure you bring your parking ticket in with you to get it validated.

richard grooms

Had a great time lots to c and do for the hole family

Edward Goody

A great way to spend a morning was easy getting there and about and the museum displays were educational and interesting to all age groups.

Sofía Texcahua

It's a huge museum. You should take your time to visit each exposition. Totally worth it.

julez brown

Great for adults! We enjoyed all parts, except for the kids section. Very informative and intriguing. You could spend hours there learning and being wowed.

Christina Campos

Very educational! one of many Chicago museums

莫MoMo

Great place to learn about Chicago.

Chris Wilson

Employees were not able to answer simple questions. For the price, least informative/impressive museum in area

Jean Hewlett-Moline

Nice place, friendly docents.

Brian Nunnally

Very informative. It was also fun wading thru the waist deep crowd of Elementary school students on their end of year field trip.

Vickie Ferrari

Great place to visit. Super informative and interesting

Rebecca Stornes

What a great hang out spot! I came here with my sister and we had a blast! We were very pleased about our visit, and the exhibits were awesome! ❤️❤️❤️

Williet. Anderson

Man I been doing this for a while and I believe that we are free to do what ever it is to do,LMAO ✌

Nelly

Very impressive museum. Informative and interesting exhibits.

Yarita Alfaro

Awesome. So much has changed since last time I visited. Wonderful experience on Chicago's history and for my Boys & I to see. Good customer service. Nice cafe & gift shop.

Susan Cohen

A very accessible museum, with interesting and thoughtful exhibits organized in a casual and not overly voluminous way. It makes the material highly digestible. Many of the galleries are focused on the history of Chicago, and much of the history of Chicago is quite fascinating. Aside from that, however, there are special exhibits which focus on particular issues of sociological and historical importance, whether related to Chicago or not. And just being able to see the actual bed in which Abraham Lincoln passed away is worth the price of admission.

Peg Harloff

Excellant docent tour

Carlos Amador, Jr.

A great look back at Chicago's rich history that features great rotating exhibits, yet, I wish the museum was larger and had even more interactive exhibits.

Karl Lester

I Haven't Visited yet but I Fully Intend 2 As This Is My Chicago! YOU KNOW !! Would like 2 C Film on When the Herald Square and The German Chicagoan's Statues were Erected and the Artist's Bios! The German Chicagoan Work was given 2 the City in 1931. Here it is . . . And Thanks Karl.

Corona realty

Employees were nice ,every Tuesday its free. The little dioramas are so cute.

Eilo Betoushana

Great place to drop by and check out some Chitown history.

Lisa B

Attended a wedding held here. Beautiful. Staff was very friendly and professional. Food was great.

Kurt Tuescher

Fantastic look back on Chicago.

Robert Morow

Great unknown museum for this city.

CARMEN DOMINGUEZ

Pretty neat place!

Jeremy Odden

A very interesting place with a lot of history about Chicago and the surrounding area, definitely worth a visit.

Brandyee Brothers

This day was a day that they honored Muslims, their faith and my friend Aminatu El-Mohammad.

Casey Cole

The exhibits were okay, but the tour lead by the docent was very informative and went beyond the content on display. The tour makes the visit worth it.

delsolarvaldes

Really nice visit. The music section was just amazing! Loved the fact you could create your own vintage record cover and e-mail it to yourself! Definitely worth it!

Beth Babcock

Great venue for private events

Rachel Sherbondy

Me & my special recreation campers have went on field trips to this museum the past couple summers. This summer in particular they were super accommodating to my participants’ needs and gave them multiple activities to keep them occupied and engaged. This museum even though it may seem small it has a lot of history to offer! The ballroom on the top floor is beautiful!

Loreli Burns Manrique

This place was great! The kids had so much fun!

Katie Kokolus

The museum was well designed and laid out. There were lots of artifacts and stories to read. I was particularly impressed to see Lincoln's bed displayed in this museum. If you are bringing kids make sure to make time for the history movie (it's a cute video that I enjoyed without children but it's definitely geared towards getting kids interested in history). The admission was a but pricey so check for coupons but worth the cost if you have a few hours to devote to the visit.

Jessica Robinson

This place was great!! Loved the history and the interactive activities!!

Ignacio Alvarez

Absolutly the best! For anyone interested in Chicago history.

knute heirman

The rudeness pure rudeness was unexceptable. Poor management..

Wayne Marcy

Good overview of Chicago. Enjoyed the crossroads exhibit and tour by our volunteer guide Bob. Exhibits were nice I would have rated 5 stars if there were more interactive exhibits.

A L Lomas

Outanding. Fantastic displays, great use of multi media to capture attention. Friendly, interesting and helpful staff. Definitely worth a second visit (which I tried to do but sadly ran out of time)

Jose Arturo Saavedra

If you want to know why Chicago is so important for American history, you must visit this museum...

Christine Fiene

A small, but well executed museum, filled with spectacular presentations. Find Chicago's first settlement, the hay days of the 20's, the Chicago Fire, politics, musicians, jazz, blues, mobsters, Abraham Lincoln's bed, manufacturers, and inventors. A great Cafe and museum store. A real coal engine train and trolley car to use your imagination with, and 1 to 2 special exhibits. Adjacent to the beautiful Lincoln Park.

Money Taylor

First time ever going and it felt like a wonderful romantic field trip...I'm glad I went...thanks to my dear friend.

Hassan M

Clean and well designed museum. It was a fun experience seeing the history of the city. Was hoping for something on the history of crime but didn’t find anything. The Blues section of the museum was very interesting and had a few hands-on attractions. It’s a nice option to try when new to Chicago but I personally wouldn’t make another trip after visiting the museum once.

Mauren Kaufmann

A very accessible museum, with interesting and thoughtful exhibits organized in a casual and not overly voluminous way. It makes the material highly digestible. Many of the galleries are focused on the history of Chicago, and much of the history of Chicago is quite fascinating.

James D'Angelo

Great museum for anyone who likes Chicago.

Dave Weber

More interactive exhibits would have pushed this to 5 stars. Reasonable with groupon at 10.00 for entry. Kids under 12 free of from out of state. Very clean and well laid out.

Batra Batra

Love this place, find more information of Chicago.

Chelsea Cox

Informative museum capturing the nuanced social history of Chicago. Would have loved a more intersectional critique and critical lense of colonialism in the sections covering Native American peoples. Also didn't see information on the reversal of the Chicago River I was hoping for. But overall they did a great job with the space and captured many aspects of the social history of the city and I was so happy I visited. I'm hoping they will get more public funding that they deserve so they can reduce the entry fee ($19) to make it more accessible. Great stop on my visit to the city.

Latoyakey Sanders

I love ❤️ going to

Enid Miller

such a wonderful museum learned so much about Chicago's history. everyone should put it on their visiting list

Samuel Waggoner

This museum is awesome. You begin learning about the Chicago jazz and blues history, where you feel like you are not only reliving the moment but also learn how well-known celebrities of Chicago had their debuts. In addition, you are surrounded by memorable models, photos, and voices of this era. Finally, you see a miniaturized version of "The Great Chicago Fire" and other pictures of what Chicago looked like in the 1800s. Need I mention, their café has excellent food and service for an over-the-counter restaurant with a limited menu. The dining room is very elegant for an over-the-counter restauran

Robert Johnson

If you're a history buff like I am, you MUST come here. If you're from Chicago and you haven't been here, what are you waiting for?

Ashley McCann

Interesting exhibits. Small enough to finish fairly quickly and still learn a lot.

Annette Jones

The great history that Chicago shares from past to present. Special events that change with the times of today. Family and Friends enjoy spending time here.

Pamela Papillon

Angela Siu

A small little museum on the city's history. Has a lot of activities for the young ones in the group and beautifully designed exhibits. A great way to spend a couple hours in the city.

Daniel Citrenba

A very well put history museum that is a joy to walk through. It is very well organized, with lots of information and interesting objects. The stories helped me understand how Chicago became through the years and where it stands now. Very, very interesting. Staff very friendly. We opted to take a bus from Millenium Park, where we parked our car. Bus lines are comfortable and friendly, and are very frequent. I highly recommend visiting this museum for just adults, families, or even with little children.

william j belmonte jr

Great CHICAGO History. Only thing missing History's OF O'HARE and MIDWAY AIRPORTS

Nayel Saleh

Fantastic museum, lived all my life in Chicago and suburbs, never knew this existed. So well done and curated, exhibits really portrayed the full evolution of Chicago, it's growth, struggles and triumphs. A must see.

Peggy Scolan

The interactive exhibits were engaging. The newer exhibits on MLK Jr., Jazz, and Streamline were informative. The older exhibits are still engaging. The docents were pleasant and helpful. The students didn't once say they were bored. THAT speaks volumes.

Larisa Kova

This museum is very accessible and it is one of the famous museums here in Chicago. There are a lot of exhibits to see here. The staffs are also very assistive.

John

5/7 Perfect score much history very nice would go again

Ben Hills-Jones

Fascinating insight into Chicago history. All the best galleries are on floor 2. Great to see lots of children here learning about their history. Cafe nice too and reasonably priced. Extremely friendly architecture guide who chatted to me for ages much appreciated!

J Schmale

Great place to find out about Chicago history. We arrived too close to closing time, which was our loss as there was so much more to discover. The Chicago fire and sports memorabilia was great, as was inventions from this area. Very interesting place in a multi-level building with an elevator. Great for ages 7 - 107!

Yang Jia

The gentleman guided us on the second floor. He was so nice. I can ask questions and he can talk more about what we are interested. Great place to know more about Chicago.

Miguel Calderon

Nice concise museum of Chicago history. Good way to spend a few hours before heading off to the park or downtown.

Aye-mi Van

So well put together, I love history. A bit pricey for just a local history museum tho. Could save your money for one of the other attractions by just picking up a book.

Aileen Wagner

This museum is smaller but the exhibits are superb and thought provoking. Our older elementary aged kids loved it too.

Mrs. Julier

Very nice museum. Noticed the veterans discount too late so check the signs because when you inquire about pricing the African lady at the front desk will just point to the signs. My family and I had a great time. The exhibits are very interesting and I recommend the free guided tour. There’s a place to eat and the food is fresh. There is also a gift shop. The blues exhibit was probably our favorite.

Roma in America

Great place to study! The part about design is just the best!

Diana Byrns

Interesting museum to visit & know Chicago history!

Manna Rassi

If possible ask for a tour, amazing tour guides who know just about everything about the city. 18 and under is free. Informative, well kept and overall very cool experience

Mila B

have food and nice exhibitions

Sonja Gutierrez

I was hoping to see more chicago history as a town with all its current changes. The time line should be updated its only listed history from beginning until the year 2000.

Hugh Caldwell

An interesting museum and a great Chicago Style hot dog too.

John Reed

Really cool museum, lots of great exhibits and things to see. They have a restaurant and large gift shop as well. The staff are always super friendly and helpful and genuinely interested in creating a great experience for you. It is also a top notch event space. With lots of space to roam around, an outdoor courtyard, and a large hall the Chicago History Museum would be a great spot to ha e a large event.

DR. LEWIS

It is WONDERFUL!! I didn't give myself enough time to see it! I would go again.

Rama Thoopal

A great first stop if you are new to Chicago. Many of the exhibits are also kid friendly. Learn about the Chicago hot dog, the Blues scene, civil rights agitation, Ab Lincoln, the first skyscraper and of course...the Great Chicago Fire. My special interest was the Exposition. The Pullman car was a great draw. Do not miss the passenger conversations.

HaystersIsDaddy

I whouldent spend more then $20 here that's that's for one person it was epic tho

Kathy Goss

Many great things to see and learn, chicago has some interesting history

Anthony Navarrete

Best place to go for those with kids or if under 18. Free admission for Illinois residents under 18. Would highly recommend.

Chuck Johnson

A great “hands-on” type of museum. Lots of interactive exhibits. There is a little bit of everything for everybody; if something doesn’t pique your interest you can easily bypass the room to another area. The climb into and sit antique rail car was particularly cool. If you park at the official lot, make sure you get you parking ticket validated... this way you pay only $10 to park for up to 3 hours. Also, look for deals on admission tickets on Groupon; I paid $19 for two tickets (instead of $19 each).

Lillian Mitchell

I enjoyed the tour. It gave a lot of minor details I would not have known about if not for the tour.

August Whitley

Fantastic presentation of the seldom-discussed history of Chicago below the surface. Faces the not-so-pretty details head on. This museum paints a beautiful picture for all to see.

Anne-Alice Homsy

I love this place not only for its well versed knowledge but the way the exhibits grab you and take you in. You can experience history and that's a gift

Suzanne Scott

It's a very well put together museum. You can see everything in about 3 hours. Learned a lot.

Edward Wilkinson JR

One of the most memorable places in Chicago. I personally and proudly recommend visiting

Mark Thoms

Great museum with interesting exhibits. Loved the Chicago Blues interactive display. Lots of kids having fun while learning. The Chicago exhibits were great. Some thought provoking exhibits as well. Nice gift shop and cafe. Friendly staff throughout the Museum. Only thing keeping it 4 stars was that some areas were extremely dimly lit. You couldn't see some of the dioramas. Other than that it was a great experience.

Jess Colopy

There's some cool history here, but it's a deceivingly small museum, especially when a few of the exhibits were closed. Other than the major Chicago history area with the antique El car and other artifacts, a lot of the exhibits felt like... a stretch. An entire room was devoted to Lincoln and places he happened to visit in Chicago, when he didn't really have much to do with the city otherwise. There's a wall about a tiny connection Chicago had to the nuclear bomb AND the birth control pill, which felt like a bold choice. A lot of the interactive pieces in the museum were in need of repair- a practice piano was out of tune, the "learn to play" guitars were missing multiple strings, and the historical statues by the El car had almost all the paint chipped off of them. The museum cafe is also not open for the entirety of the operating hours of the museum, which is... strange. They gave us a discount (not sure why, but we weren't going to ask!), and the staff was very friendly, but this was a one and done for me. P.S. Definitely take a picture in the hot dog. If you're going to go, go all in.

Hava Shalit

Helps make history an adventure!

sallie kraus

Excellent museum. Fun evening of blues! 2 bands- inside and out! Great exhibits. Helpful staff. Did you know members have reciprocal privileges with 800 museums around the US??

EM M

The museum needs an experience overhaul. Its setup is like a Wikipedia article with more walking. Harvard's museum has more artifacts from the Chicago world's fair than this museum does The coolest part is the old L car. More stuff like that, please!

Maya Davis

EVERY SINGLE PERSON I CAME ACROSS WORKING HERE WAS EXTRAORDINARILY FRIENDLY! From security, to info desk, to gift shop attendants. Speaking of the gift shop, they have some of the most unique items I've ever seen...don't pass them up. I purchased a Michelle Obama paper doll kit for my niece! I was only passing thru Chicago for two days, I enjoyed being able to get a quick lesson about this city. Chicago certainly is an influential city! Conveniently located on the CTA routes #22 or #36

Ruthann Essinger

Great history museum

Sheryl Smikle

Chicago is an architectural treasure chest! Attended a beautiful wedding at the Chicago History museum in late September. Easy to reach by train or car, the CHM offers a versatile venue fir casual, chic or formal affairs. The wedding was held in the Lincoln exhibit. White walls, columns, chandeliers and French doors that opened out to a beautiful garden made this location perfect. The room was a spacious rectangle that could be converted into three separate experiences with sliding doors. 200 guests floated from space to space for cocktails, dessert, a sit down dinner and dancing. This is a memorable setting that is second to none.

Marika Farundee

museum of happy time for me .. first brought by my boyfriend . now suggesting to come here to everyone I know

Will Tyler

Great interactive exhibits. My eleven-year-old even enjoyed it, especially the Chicago hotdog replica.

Jon Garrish

Delightful, great and helpful giftshop!

Wendy Huang

It was informative and had interactive parts. I learned a lot and there was a lot to explore and see. But the shot glasses are $10. The hoodies were cute and decently priced. I would recommend for anyone learning about the city. ☺️ They have a train you can take pictures on.

Neq logan

Loved the jazz club section and the history of old Chicago!

andrew donaldson

Very kool museum very well put together and alot of history to be seen love the African American contributions

Laurence Bugasu Ininda

This is definitely a lovely place to visit. Not being a Chicago native, the experience is immersive into what made Chicago the city it is. You HAVE to try the hot dogs at the café! It's really great!

Alka Kolipakam

Super museum with so much history on Chicago. Very educative place

Elizabeth Van Koningsveld

Fun end to our weekend. Well kept and we got to see the dress exhibit.

Ms_ Osoba

There's a movie shown at some point and that was awesome. Great place for a family visit also.

Lynn Sampson

It was a rainy day during our first visit to Chicago. We took a city bus to avoid traffic and parking. Dropped us off at the museum doorstep. What a wonderful experience! Absolutely remarkable how well the museum is curated and with so many educational, FUN, interactive opportunities. I would recommend this rain or shine! Easily spent at least 4 hrs.

John Adams

Might be the best museum I have ever been to, highly recommend!

Kianu popokaula

wisdom and knowledge of the ages love it

Darryl L

Nice museum for Chicago background and history. A lot of reading so it's not aimed toward young children. It can really bring some memories back for long time residents and shed some light on a great city for visitors or newer residents.

Nadrienna Damaris

Great fun for the whole family. Many exhibits are interactive and young children enjoy as well as the older crowd. Extremely informative for not only the history of Chicago, but has information about current events. Though not one of the largest museums in Chicago, great for an afternoon visit.

Dave A.

Lots of history and interactive exhibits. More than one visit is nessassary to take it all in.

Christian Gentry

This is such a comprehensive museum! I've been to many museums and this is the best localized museum the blues tour was so good!!

Sakinah Abdussamad

Sit inside an original subway car, listen to exhibits in an audio tour, or have lunch at the museum's on site cafe (closes 3 p.m.). Check their website for exact hours/days of operation -- they close early on weekends, but I noticed the day I went (Tuesday) they were opened until 9 p.m. It's accessible by bus and is close to Lincoln Park and the Lincoln Park Zoo, Aquarium, Nature Museum (?) and the Lake Front Beach. Close to Lake Shore Drive and less than 1/2 hour from Downtown Chicago including the Magnificent Mile shopping.

Michael Lewyn

Nice but big- takes a few hrs to cover fully.

Marek Pedziwater

This, is the worst museum I have ever been to, they didn't even talk barely at all about the Chicago Fire, secondly, they movie they showed was also really bad, with bad acting and horrible story line. PLEASE DO NOT GO! SAVE YOUR MONEY!

Charlene King

Ate in the lunchroom, food good as usual with friendly staff.

Paul Hable

Great presentation of materials and information. Unexpected artifacts and topics... pleasant surprise!

Nicole Dabros

AMAZING! Highly recommend for learning about the history of Chicago.

Anabel Pachano-Arismendi

Is a small museum i should say but is really interesting the way it shows Chicago history and has a lot of antiques that you would love to look at

Darryl Stewart

Excellent place to find out, discover and experience the history of Chicago. Very clean, friendly atmosphere and great service.

Charlotte Smith

Great fun for the whole family. Many exhibits are interactive and young children enjoy as well as the older crowd. Extremely informative for not only the history of Chicago, but has information about current events. Though not one of the largest museums in Chicago, great for an afternoon visit.

Mark Winiars

Just like any other museum, nothing special, just kind of boring.

Anna Jones

My boyfriend and I were so upset we didn't have a longer amount of time at this place, awesome. Super duper recommend! Awesome sauce!

Jim Gebis

A good place to learn about Chicago history. Takes about 3 hours. Deal on public parking nearby.
