Still under development when i visited in May 2003, the Sacajawea Interpretive Center still let folks wander around. A must visit if in the area. I actually met the Mayor of Salmon when I stopped, and he had the official Proclamation in hand which designated the area as her birthplace, by Congress and the State of Idaho. ©TIFA 2003

Great place to take the kids and learn about the shoshone culture as well as sacajawea. They had a little museum, nature trails with all kinds of little stops along the way. Tipis set up and the walk was very flat and easy for the kids. This is my second time here and i will definatly be back!

Went there to kill time with my wife. Ended up spending most of the day there. We really enjoyed and learned so much about sacajawea and the Lewis and Clark expedition. Truly a Jem of Salmon idaho!

I only visited the Interiptive Center Trails as the Center itself was closed already. The trails are vastly improved since my first visit here. Nice walk through the meadow and along the Lemhi River with plenty of Interiptive Signs. Very informative.

The Sacajawea Center was a fun experience with a few trails to walk and explore. The longest trail is probably less than a mile There were signs all along the way telling about the way the Indians lived and some of the things Sacajawea did. One of the trails follows along a small river through a wooded area. It's very pretty.

Really neat place to visit! Very informative and hands on. Lots of great examples to see firsthand. Wonderfully friendly staff! Beautiful scenery on the trails. It's HOT in the summer though. So be prepared. WATER, snacks, hats, sunblock, and good walking shoes. Such a wonderful asset for home-schoolers in idaho! The kids loved it! Can't wait to go back again!

This is an amazing interpretive center with so much well documented history. There are plaques with fascinating history of the valley, not to mention the amazing native American woman Sacajawea who played a pivotal role in the success of Lewis and Clark and their expedition... After she was taken captive as a teenager... Because was story doesn't have a somewhat dark underbelly... Think Game of thrones but American history. But really, amazing place worth checking out!

Grace Morgan

Needs to be maintained a little bit better, kitchen wise....

Linda King

I'm following the Lewis & Clark expedition from St. Charles MO (where it actually started) to Astoria OR. This was one of my stops. You may not learn more about Sagagawea but you will learn a lot about indian customs. Just learning about the intricacies of a tepee, such as the symbolism of each supporting pole, was worth the stop.

Boyde Chatterton

Great place to learn and relax

Aaron Jensen

Very cool place with great history.

J.D. Sorensen

Andrew Kelly

Was not open when it said it was open its own website. No complete teepees and a sign describing an old house says they no nothing about the old house.

Patti Burns

Great place to go for a walk and enjoy the peace and beauty of Salmon.

Eric Viklund

A historical and cultural easy hike to learn of native lifestyle. A special monument and tribute to Sacajawea, who accompanied Lewis and Clark on their journey to the Pacific Coast.

Very nice facilities for Memorial service.

Isaac Galindez

Even I didn't walk around the trail in there....I did look and read about the Big journey Lewis and Clark did back in the early 1803. Amazing what the Sacajawea Girl did to contribute.

Heather Wehrmann

Very well put together. Had some presentations put on out on the hike behind the museum. Inside, we found our family names on the wall. It was smokey from forest fires in area at the time we were there. Very informative.

Jesse Bellamy

Clean, informational, and the staff are kind.
