Small but we'll curated, knowledge docents. The Archimedes exhibit was great. The Eagle Rock village street also very well done. Wonderful children's room as well. Go!
A great place to take your family or for a date night. Always a good display.
Our family always loves to come and see the new exhibits. This steam punk exhibit is a fun and educational experience geared more for 6 years and up. My 3 year old got bored. They do include activity backpacks that you can check out at no additional cost for the kids as they move through the exhibit which helps for the little ones. Our favorite exhibit so far was the Dinosaurs in Motion exhibit. It kept all ages entertained. We always look forward to the annual Christmas exhibit. They do a great job and is a very affordable activity for the whole family. The only thing I would suggest is for them to get more exhibits in a year. I feel like their traveling exhibits run too long and could benefit from adding more traveling exhibits.
The museum is under renovation at this time (Aug 2019) but had a wonderful 2 hours with my 7 year old grandson. Currently the Archimedes exhibit is on display with many exhibits being hands on for the 5 to 80 age group. That's not a typo, I enjoyed it as much as my grandson. In late September, early October the museum is going to have dinosaur exhibits in its newly renovated building. Can't wait to go back. -Grandpa
Loved the old American history. Love to return after construction is complete.
Amazing exhibits, we never wanted to leave and only did because they closed
I went here for a work event. I brought along my 6 year old to make it more interactive. It was okay. The special at the time was Archemites, which I have heard was not the best one. I would probably do again if there family wanted to go, but I'm not going to be there one to suggest it.
Great little local museum. The temporary pirate exhibition was amazing
Very interesting museum! Loved g.j ow a lot of the exhibitions there are hands on. Very cool!
We had so much fun. The exhibits were great and the kids loved the kid zone!
Great staff that is quite knowledgeable. Fun for kids and history buffs
Great museum but construction makes it hard to find access to the entrance.
They always have fun education exhibits. There I an exhibit for everyone.
Staff was excellent, but my family and I paid 100 dollars just to see 1/4 of the museum. Nowhere is it advertised more than half of the museum is closed still. Dont waste your time or money. Go when it's fully opened in December of 2020.
A great little museum. The Archimedes exhibit was awesome. Very excited to see the Darwin traveling exhibit when they complete their expansion.
Just finished the Haunted walking tour it was amazing. Will definitely be doing it again next year.
Small museum in historic building. Liked the natural history exhibits better than the steam punk stuff, although it all looked cool.
I went to drop my son off for the first ever night at the museum held at the museum of Idaho. The exhibit was the dinosaurs in motion. I took a look around before I left and it was awesome. Very interactive for everyone. They did a great job with it. I was very impressed.
First summer party
Liked the history portion, but the manicans were a little odd and could have done without.
the museum changes its theme every once in a while. I've heard great reviews in the past on the previous themes. the new theme is steam punk and I relatively enjoyed my time! there were some great things to look at. But I felt like some of the interactive parts weren't functioning right and it was complicated to figure out. all in all it's a great place to see and the experience will be rememberable!
Idaho is slowly becoming more tolerable as more Californians move there. It helps balance out the yahoos.
For a small museum this place was awesome. They had a lot of hands on activities which really got kids excited to keep learning. They have a display they keep up for a few months then change it up. It is handicap friendly south plenty of ramps to navigate.
Love this place. Very impressed that a small community such as ours can bring these things to us. I would like to go every time we get something new, but it's a challenge. So I do what I can. The photos attached are from the steam punk exhibit.
I love the part of the museum that never changes, seems the new exhibits aren’t very fun as of lately.
Amazing fun for people who love to learn.
Amazing museum with wonderful exhibits. Staff are always friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to answer questions.
it was actually really good. not too bad if I'm honest. some new exibets would be nice but! its still good
Great exhibits, can't wait to see the expansion
Was well done wish it has more local art and history.
I love having a museum in town. I go every time there is a new exhibit. I do feel it’s a little overpriced for what they typically have. There have been a few times where it wasn’t what I expected and left kind of disappointed, but I’m still grateful I get to experience it. There’s also a permanent exhibit separate about the history of Idaho Falls which I stop at every time. There is a place for the kiddos to learn and experience things as well. It’s a great place overall, just a little overpriced.
Great learning experience
It was great to see all of the old technology.
Don't waste your money only a quarter of museum open and paid $66 for nothing but a few exhibits entire museum not open Dec 2020. Highly disappointed and definitely would not ever take my family to this rip off
Loved the steampunk show, and the basement had my favorite type of exhibits where period rooms, or offices are set up with all the fixings. Highly recommended.
Lots of fun for the children! There is an Idaho history area that is always set up in what looks to be the old museum part. It is nice when there are new exhibits. Employees are often nice.
Steampunk is a great exhibit. It's interactive, but the images and interactive displays will not be of much interest to young children. Older children who like to read could be interested, especially if they have read any of Jules Verne's novels.
What a neat place to have in our community. Love that the exhibit change as well. Worth checking each time the exhibits change. Great place for school field trips.
I like it. It's a cute museum, it's so nice. I like it.
Great interactive exhibit called “Archimedes: Science and Innovations.” The exhibit volunteers were particularly kind and full of good information. Eight year old grandson had a lot of fun. So did his Mom and me.
We are visiting family in Idaho and they suggested that we check out the steam punk exhibit at the Museum if Idaho. It was excellent! We had a great time interacting with the exhibits and learning more about creativity and science. Emma Lee at the check-in was very nice and welcoming as were the other staff on duty. The facilities were clean. I would recommend a visit if you’re looking for things to do by Rexburg and Idaho Falls.
They get remarkable exhibits for such a small town museum
This is something that we do as a family. Each time there is a new exhibit my parents, my son's, and myself go. It's definitely a great family activity.
My daughter and I went here the other day, and we had so much fun! The hands on, interactive children's exhibit was perfect for my little girl. She loved the little cabin, and dressing up in pioneer clothes. But, we also had a great time at the other exhibits. My favorite exhibit was Eagle Rock, USA, I am not originally from this area, and I had never heard about the cities origin. The ten historic businesses in the exhibit, were so fun to look at. This is a great museum, and I will definitely be coming back.
This museum is so fun. They always have detailed explanations for everything, and fun interactive things so your kids are not super bored. I’ve been here pretty much for every change they make, and have not been disappointed yet! Such a fun thing to do with family!
The Museum of idaho has presented many great collections of history and do a really great job of trying to get the whole family involved in the experience. They also are in process of adding on a huge addition which im pretty excited for.
This is a really cool museum. They keep their feature exhibit fresh. Steampunk was the feature during our visit, and it was a very interesting and engaging exhibit. There was a significant hands on component to the feature exhibit. There local and natural history exhibit in the permanent collection are well done and engaging. There is a children's room that is totally hands on and very playful. Just a great museum. Very kid friendly. Allow 1-3 hours depending on your age groups. Family admission was very affordable.
All of the staff was helpful and informative!!! The exhibits were very neat and clean as well as fun and educating. I love taking my family here when ever I get the chance.
I loved it! There was a lot of information and it was great for kids as there were lots of activities.
Great place but a little smaller than I expected
Learn from each exhibit they display
The exhibits are well laid out. I enjoyed the interactive nature of many of the exhibits. I also enjoyed the way they related scientific and physical principles to the motions and workings of the dinosaurs. There were lots of things for kids as well as adults. And every station there was a play table with related toys.
Great museum for the whole family. The staff is so nice and willing to answer questions. It's just the right size to enjoy without feeling rushed or getting to the gift shop and thinking you must have missed something. The giftshop is full of fun science projects and also has cute knickknacks. We try to go everytime they have a new exhibit. Definitely would recommend going to anyone of any age!
The Archimedes exhibit was very interesting. A docent was exceptionally knowledgeable and took time to explain and answer our questions. There is remodeling going on and the parking was not well marked, but it worked out.
Very interesting always has something that is great for everyone. Not too pricey especially for a museum. Very good for anyone with wheelchairs and the staff is usually very friendly.
The Museum of Idaho is awesome! They're friendly and will help you understand the exhibits.
The volunteers were super nice, but the museum was below par. It was absolutely not worth the $12 or $13 we paid per person to get in. Part of the museum was under renovation. There was absolutely no history about Idaho. I have been to museums all over the world that were fantastic and cost a lot less to enter. For visitors who were excited to learn about the state, we were thoroughly disappointed.
Great museum. Friendly staff and they rotate the exhibits periodically to make it new. Well worth a visit if you're in Idaho Falls.
Great place to learn some many amazing things. Took my grandson to the Archimedes Exhibit .
Little over priced but fun
The museum was very dark, hard to impossible to read signage. The stands holding ropes to keep you from exhibits had huge bases which many of us tripped over. Employees walking thru talking loudly were distracting to us. The Archimedes exhibits were great, the others were good but not enough about Idaho
A wonderful interactive and educational experience for young and not-so young!
Great museum with lovely and knowledgeable staff. Saw the Archimedes exhibit and they had plenty of interactive exhibits for kids as well as a children's exhibit area that is good for even small children (3 and up). Was reasonably priced at 12$ per adult, but prices may change. Definitely worth spending an hour or two.
Interesting displays with some cool history on Idaho. I love that they switch it out with different displays to accommodate different interests.
They always do a great job. Thanks again for making it a wonderful experience.
We love this museum. We have loved the interactive Archimedes exhibit. My kids love seeing how all the different machines work. We homeschool and I love having a museum like this to take my kids to. We love the Idaho history part of the museum too! One of my kids favorite parts of the museum is the play room with the log cabin, the teepee, the rocks, caves, and dress up clothes. It is such a fun place for them to play.
Good exhibits, helpful staff.
The new expansion to the Museum is amazing! There is so much to see. The new exhibit has fun games for kids and adults to play and some of the best dinosaur fossils I have ever seen. Highly encourage seeing this new museum. You will not regret it!
Very cool local history and great ancient history as well. Looking forward to the next exhibit.
Love the interested facts about Idaho
Museum is under renovations at this time but it's a small very complex museum I believe well worth the time I enjoy every themed exhibit they do.
Was a very nice place
A must see. Looking forward to their expansion.
This is a great place to take my Grandchildren. They always enjoy a day there and learn about something new. The younger ones live the children room and the murals by Steve Spenser are amazing.
Love the Museum of Idaho! The exhibits are always interesting and there is always interactive stuff, which is great for kids and adults to feel like they are learning more actively.
I always have a great time at the museum! The layout is good and the exhibits rock, also the staff is super friendly and fun to talk to. The old section is cool to. Can't wait for the new building to get done!
Great fun for the whole family. I brought my mom and 8 year old brother here when they visited me last. I always love the different exhibits they portray. From history to science to literature to pop culture. This place is a blast! I only wish it was closer, I would probably go more often.
The new expansion is awesome. My kids loved the Archimedes exhibit and the Darwin and Dinosaurs exhibit. We are excited for the new Way Out West permanent exhibit coming soon.
Charming place with enjoyable historical materials and displays including models of early Idaho stores and shops.
Great place to take the kids!
Looked like a great place to go on our way to a Thanksgiving dinner so we attempted to go the day after. When ariving after finally finding parking, we realized it was about 54$ to go and that seems a little steep for a kids price and realized we could take our kids somewhere much more fun for that price. We are hoping that the raise in price was due to the expensive expansion that was taking place at the time. Here is to hoping.
Alchemeties exhibit was amazing
I expected more on Idaho, total state. The font on plaques was small and dark making it hard to read
The biggest draw back was the cashier: rude! The exhibits are usually fun and they always bring in a variety of things to see. Not very big and will go through it within an hour.
Went and visited the new dinosaur exhibit. Our kids thought it was pretty cool (ages 2 and 5). They like to move the dinosaurs but I think they quickly got bored with it... It was fun though. Lots of intricate work was put into those! Great information about the builder as well! Great for a 1 time visit in my opinion.
I really enjoy the fact that for the most part their Exhibits keep getting better, the Archimedes exhibit was great, my family and I learned so much!!! It's was great to see that in Idaho Falls of all places, I can't wait to see what they bring next.
It's fun and educational
Nice museum to take a family of all ages. The children were very entertained by the Discovery Room. We had a toddler, a six year old, and a ten year old with us. Everyone had fun. Looking forward to going back when the renovation is done.
Invisible plan was fun.
They always seem to have great exhibits when we visit
This museum is trash, really expensive and really short.
Cool exhibits! Knowledgeable staff.
The museum had the dinosaurs in motion exhibit and it was awesome. My 5 year old loved all of the interactive displays. Unfortunately it's only there for a few more weeks but if you read this review in a timely manner I recommend checking it out with your little ones. They'll love it and so will the parents! Remember to tell the cashier you're an Idaho resident to get a discount on your admission. If this review was helpful please give it a "like".
The Archimedes exhibits are NOT artifacts, but children's toys handmade from 2x4s. Don't be like us, we wasted $48
Fun place to learn
This is seriously such a great place to learn and interact! I love the exhibits and the time the museum takes to put the exhibits together. I also love the staff they really take the time to learn the exhibits and provide valuable insight!
Awesome museum, was clean and peaceful
Interactive exhibits were fun for my Niece and nephew.
So much fun! The steam punk special exhibit was stellar! We also loved the permanent exhibits on Idaho frontier and natural history. Great place, and not too expensive to visit!
Great museum! Has excellent displays. Very educational.
They are expanding the building I'm positively will be one of the first people's on grand opening night.... I'm so excited I love taking my grandson there....I was surprised that my grandson had learned a lot about Pirate's as fast as he had us run through there. The next day we had went to the park first thing my grandson says Grandpa little bury some treasure. I was truly surprised how much he has learned from the museum can't say thank you more.
Really neat stuff. Found out potato farming contributed to the invention of the TV. And many other interesting facts.
Fun place for the family with some interesting exhibits.
This is a great museum! The exhibits rotate regularly, and they’re stellar. Coming here, you’ll learn about Idaho’s history, but also experience the specially curated exhibit on display. They’ve done pirates, Archimedes, the Revolutionary War, bugs, and more. You’re guaranteed a great time here!
Enjoyed the local history... the traveling art exhibit was interesting. Kids around seemed to enjoy the hands on feature. Entrance fee in AAA Tour book fee was inaccurate. $11 for Seniors.
My wife and I came in from Denver, where we have some great museums. So, honestly, we came in with some tempered expectations. We were pleasantly surprised. Museum had friendly staff and the displays were interesting and engaging. The kids room was closed that day, which was disappointing. I grew up going to this museum, so I was super happy to discover that the "old town" is still down there. Loved it. Definitely worth a visit.
Awesome information and it had lots of interaction displays for people to explore. Plan on going again when the remodel gets done.
We had so much fun! The staff were all very knowledgeable and friendly. There was a scavenger hunt for the kids which we opted not to do, but I thought it was great. The steam punk exhibit was amazing! Informative and hands on. We'll definitely be back next time we're in the area.
Neat place, was under construction though
They have really great displays!
Like loosen at all weird stuff they display
Great exhibit, lots of hands on fun for the kiddos learning about science! Super cool!
A nice facility with a cool travelling exhibit on Steam punk when I was there, and a nicely done permanent exhibit as well. The building is well kept and the staff are considerate and friendly. The only complaint was that the price was a little high to get in, but I would say that it was worth paying for.
Nice designs, informative. Dedicated old Idaho area, Nuclear Power area. Attentive staff.
Very cool place. I imagine it will be even cooler when the construction is done. I can't wait until my kids are a bit older and they can enjoy it more.
It was awesome. We went when there was a steampunk event going on. And made a video about it on Hitchcock Handyman on YouTube.
Good learning environment. Friendly staff. Military discounts.
Great museum with friendly staff and awesome interactive exhibits! Well worth the time to stop and check it out!
Amazing museum. Great attention to detail. Live the themes!
The museum staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. The exhibits are well laid out and are very interesting.
Love how the museum was set up - I was in the old Idaho!
Great little museum in town...pretty cool things to do inside...good history
The museum has always tried to make the experience very interactive and always uses interesting designs.
Good place to go to. I would enjoy going back there again and again
The on-tour exhibits are...ok. The Archimedes display was one of the better ones. But...still the best part of the museum is the kids room. I took oldest there when she was young. And, now I'm taking grandchildren. We spent about an hour on the exhibit...and about two hours in the awesome play room. Best Regards, David S. R. Clark, ASM
Neat but not my cup of tea. This is pretty much strictly steam punk. Thought it was more western / local history.
Good place for kids to learn science...
Awesome Archimedes display...
