This Tourist Attraction belongs to the category of Ski resort.
Lookout Pass was amazing. it was my first time skiing and the instructor was awesome. Anyone who want to learn how to snowboard or ski or just have fun come to Lookout Pass
Such a great family mountain. Prices are great, lift lines on main chair can get long and slow.
WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE.... lift stopped when we were halfway up the hill and after an hour and a half we were all evacuated from the lift with climbing equipment. NOT ACCEPTABLE. If you go here you are "AT YOUR OWN RISK" Back up system obviously failed and there is no excuse for putting my life in danger. I have been skiing for 30 years and have never seen this happen or had this happen. WILL NEVER GO HERE AGAIN....EVER
Exceptional terrain in what would seem like a small ski area. Plenty to do, good options for all ski levels. Phenomenal powder and snowfall each year. I was skeptical at first. No longer...
Awesome I hope it gets develop more. There is a fee for parking but I'm not sure people are checking on it so it's an optional opinion. Your parking donations go to help building a better Park. But we were there on a Sunday so please pay for parking
Me and my brother hit up the Hiawatha trail.....IT WAS INCREDIBLE!!!!
This is my favorite place to powder ski like it's literally amazing to see here they have really good food and they have good rescued if you break your ankle
Stopped here for a bathroom break, it looks like a very fun park! Wish we'd have been able to check it out better!
Great snow, sunshine, prices and friendly staff. Beer for seniors starts at $2.50...can't beat that.
Great Winter recreation
I hadn't skied in 35 or 40 years and my neighbor talked me into trying again. I'm very impressed with Lookout Pass...the runs, the snow and all the great people that work there. I've already got my season pass for next season. Bill King
Great scenery
Great locals ski resort. Coming from much larger resorts I found the ppl and the size very refreshing. I haven't skied in 4 years, so my legs are lacking the endurance, but just about when they felt tired on a run I was at the bottom. Great place for learning or getting back into the sport.
Lookout Pass has so many hills and choices go rent some skies or snowboard and hit the slopes. Lookout is the bomb love this place and go there every winter.
Great family mountain.
We love Lookout. Or kids enjoy the ski/ board school and the runs are never too crowded. There's plenty of terrain and they do a great job of grooming.
Great family style ski area. Great lodge with food and a bar but no lodgings
I work there
Best snow , best grooming , friendly staff and good fun visitors .
They got us outfitted for mt. biking the Hiawatha trail in no time and with a friendly manner. Gave us lots of tips for a great day on the trail.
I’m a truck driver and I was there for third time! I left my truck in rump ! Everything was perfect!Beautiful place ! I had an amazing experience! I skipped half day and was a good price!! I love that place ❤️
Great views. The runs were impeccably groomed. 2 seat chair lifts with operators that were very welcoming. It has a lot of terrain for an intermediate skiier like me. The lodge is 3 levels, restaurant on 2nd floor with good, but basic food, bar at top. It can get packed.
Great place to pick up a mountain bike and rider the Route of the Hiawatha
We saw deer!!
Great little ski resort on the border of Idaho and Montana. Very good atmosphere and the snow was good too. The staff were awesome. Had a great time.
Grown up on this mountain! Can always rely on the snow!
Inexpensive, family friendly, convenient drive and parking. The best snow in the area.
What a beautiful place. The staff is so friendly. You can tell they love their jobs. My son got snowboarding lessons and is on his way to becoming the next Sean White. My wife and I are thinking about lessons next year. Great fun.
Already closed. Too warm for snow already. Two weeks earlier they had up to 8 inches in some northern states.
Great trails and super friendly staff.
Snow still on mountain s
Ski Resort with biking/hiking trails during summer. Stopped by for a quick break on I-90E and curiosity about the "Exit 0". Got a picture inside with Idaho on one side and Montana on the other - while standing on the border! Cool place, with "Scandinavian" American Soldiers as founders!
Great ski hill - low key atmosphere, short lines, great snow and low prices.
Good pow. Short hills. Employees are amazing on the hills. The lodge employees could use a lot of work.
Lots of things to do here. Both summer and winter activities.
This place has such great value. The snow is usually great quality and the lifts rarely have a long wait. Bought online and as a student. I got 14% off my lift ticket.
Great snow and great teaching staff. Their famous free ski school is great for the kids. Have done 2 years and don't regret it even though I'm from Spokane. The hour and a half drive is worth it.
Great slopes for the price.
I try to not leave bad reviews, but lord have mercy. This was my 1st impression of Montana... and well... i dont want to be mean, the staff at lookout point they are trying... they just need help staying on track and focusing. Just a heads up, you will get DIRTY! That 1.5 mile tunnel is a soupy mess and you ll have a skid mark all the way up your back!!! The bikes are really delopadated and your gonna feel like you did a sten in the pen with bubba afterwards.
We literally took the turn off into Montana, grabbed a geocache near this sign, and headed back to Idaho. Excited to come back someday!
Some of the best snow in the country .very good powder all day long and no long lines especially during week days.easy access.sccess,,decent lodge, good variety of runs and especially good for snowboards.,and and good boarding and skiing for all levels of skills little short on parks but I don't care.ives. been going there for 20 plus years,,plus a number of others and lookout is my favorite by far.
This resort has something for everyone. Three diferent facing slopes offer it all up. Not to forget and mention the super awesome price point on the day lift tickets. Super friendly staff. While returning from a trip to Coure D'Layne, a plesant stop turned in to a wonderful family afternoon of skiing. Idahos' oldest running lodge and old school lifts added some nestalliga. I look forward to returning after the upcoming lift expansions. Lookout Pass will be the place to go ride in the coming future.
We got to the mountain around 9:30 this morning, December 29, 2017, and the power was out. I understand that you can't control what the weather does (it was dumping snow), but when you have customers waiting patiently, not accommodating them, and not compensating them for their time and money, then I see an issue. We waited till 12:30 before they got power and started processing tickets. And for those who prepaid for a full day, like we did, did not get any compensation, they said, "there is nothing we can do."
What fun we had!
The new chair lift is under construction!
Powder, hard packed groomers. Good meadows. All chairs running. Small lines. On a sunny day . . You'd swear you are a bluebird.
Easy on easy off. Hear way to pick up tickets in advance for Trail of the Hiawatha.
Never been skiing here, but it looks nice.
It was snowing all the time I was there damn it I didn't want it to snow
Beautiful during the summer
Outstanding little mountain. Best powder in the area. Friendly staff and a great crowd on the hill. Usually short lines, and small crowds. If you haven't been here its totally worth the trip.
Snow, snow and more snow - high quality stuff too. Friendly staff. Nice lodge. Good food and drinks in a nice lodge. Scenic beauty in a temperate rainforest. It's become my favorite place in the country. And I got my early-bird season pass for Lookout last spring for less than the price of two day tickets to icy, snobbish and crowded Big Sky.
Very.clean & staff is wonderful
We bring the whole family here. Have not seen or heard a unhappy employee or guest. I love the mountain. Runs for every level skier, some too steep for this intermediate skier. I'll keep coming till I master them. Ski school was great to get the kids started. Thanks to everyone that makes the experience fun for us.
Terrific. Just a great place people are awesome who ski lookout. Just a great place to get away from all the cotroversy and enjoy being around great people enjoying excelent snow and nature.
A little frustrated they wouldn't let us use the 5th grade ski pass on January 3rd. Not sure why a ski resort wants to get the youth involved and then have black out dates. That should be due for a rule change. Loved the mountain and the snow was terrific. It's a bit of a drive to get there but the skiing is great!
Great value for skiing. We went last week and had lots of fresh powder.
We rode the route of the Hiawatha on the last day of the season in September and had a beautiful time! So much gorgeous scenery and railroad history. Just make sure you bring a change of clothes since the long tunnel gets pretty muddy!
We were not there skiing. We road bycycles on the hiawatha trail. It is a great way to spend half a day. Great views and the history of building a railroad over a high mountain pass. Two thumbs up. RLD.
Beautiful
This ski resort advertise for a really good college student pass, but when you purchased it asks you show you have taken twelve credits in order to be "full time students" eligiable for that discount. Problems is all graduate student in all nearby universities couldn't take twelve credits a semester despite they are full time. By the resort's definition all of them are not full time students and couldn't use the discount. Instead stating the limation in the promotion, the resort choose to use attractive promotion to get your attention and arbitrarily define a large group of full time students into none full time students to limit the discount. If you are a grad student, you will feel cheated.
Wide, groomed slopes with plenty of ungroomed powder to play in. Lots of trails to challenge you. Had a fantastic day
Fun, quiet ski resort with decent terrain. Nothing too hard. Good for a family trip
It may not be the largest, it may not have 4k vertical, it may not have lodging BUT: Lookout has the best snow (& staff)!!! If your lucky enough to find a place to stay for a few, all you have to do is relax and wait for another perfect day to come around. I personally just love the quality of snow that falls here. Here is a photo of my Hot Tub (very close to Lookout). All that snow is light, fluffy and dry! (Grrr... It wont let me post a photo)
Great place to get away from the crowds. Not a real big mountain but plenty of runs to explore.
Roads bare, just starting to snow.
Because I can't find a way to rate Ride the Route of the Hiawatha directly, I can only give this four stars. I'm not a skier but the summer activity is fabulous. We had a ridiculously good time! We found this biking activity before leaving on a 10 month trip around the US and made a reservation. Little did we know how much fun we would experience bike riding the Hiawatha Trail! We rode through the 1.66 mile long St. Paul Pass Tunnel (Taft Tunnel). It is about 37F in the tunnel year round. Yep, cold, and it’s the first encounter on the trail. We were so cold when we finished I was sure an earache was in my future. It took about a half hour before my hands warmed up too. We rode through 10 train tunnels over seven sky high trestles. The views were fabulous! The day was absolutely gorgeous. We couldn’t have asked for a better day to ride. Next time we would like to try to ride it down and back…yes, that would be about 15 miles back uphill. The grade is about 1.7 so it shouldn’t be a really big deal as long as we are in shape next fall. If you want to come, plan for a summer trip. The bike trail operates June to mid-September. They keep their web site up to date so you can get accurate updates. We recommend you rent their bikes as they get covered in mud going through the tunnels. Also, be sure to wear your bike shorts. It’s a long time in the saddle, about 2.5 hours so denim is not what you want to wear. A little pre-planning can save you a lot of pain later.
100% Amazing
Best place to ski as a family!
No doubt one of my favorite mountains in the area! The people truly make the mountain what it is. Between the awesome Staff, friendly Mountain Hosts, amazing Ski Patrol, and outgoing ski school instructors, I simply can't get enough of this place... not to mention that the powder is the best in this whole area!!
Free day 4 cans of food drive good powder super packed, but lines cleared up in the afternoon.
Always a good time at lookout. Short lines. Price is good. Wish the lodge was bigger but great place anyway. Parking right off freeway and by lifts is a nice plus also. Snow is as good as it gets too.
Family friendly ski area. Good rates. Great snow. Easy access.
The snow was awesome today..
Very Nice family friendly place.
Awesome food
Awkward this time of year but they did rescue me needed a rest room.
They're process to hand out season passes is a complete mess. I waited for mine twice for a total wait of about 2 hours. Positives are a friendly staff and nice grooming. They were also open about 3 weeks before anyone else
Lookout is fun and cheap and gets great snow. Everyone says it gets the best snow but the powder never lasts too long before turning crusty so you have to get there in the first hour. Lookout gets tracked out really fast though because it's a pretty small mountain. The out of bounds skiing is AWESOME but you have to skate quite a ways back to the lifts. Not a ton of steep terrain either. Either way, you should definitely check this place out especially for how cheap a lift ticket is. You can find tickets on liftopia for like $20!
You can ski this entire mountain in half a day. But the charm comes from the locals that run the slopes. Pop on chair 1 always made me smile. Local ski bums kept me entertained on well placed terrain parks. I skied here for a month straight and spent the entire time in powder. It was fluffy. 50" on fresh snow while I was there. Amazing tree runs throughout. Lift tickets are priced accordingly. Fries and nacho sauce for lunch then back on the mountain. Don't miss this place.
Staff was enjoyable. Everyone was organized and friendly. Had a great experince.
Love it.
Love this mountain. Great for beginners and expert. And they are getting ready to expand again. Can't wait.
Most fami my friendly resort we have ever been too. The staff is super helpful. My family of 5 has been getting season passes now for 4 years. Kids love all the amiable terrain at their level.
Wonderful laid back "Ski Area" not resort! Parking lot access of your equipment anytime you want to switch skis, nice food and bar, somewhat surprising challenging terrain and easy drive. Will be on when they expand into new terrain!
We went there to get a map because the advertising said they had tourist information. No maps of the state were there at all. Basically all they are is a skiing and bicycling tour. They advertise as a deli and eatery but... their dining rooms are used for the bikes that they rent out and they might have 6 items on their deli menu. All hoagie type sandwiches. It's a tourist trap for anyone not interested in skiing and cycling. Not going back .
Love to come and ski here. Snow is usually good, plenty of trails, front and back of mt. are open with chair lifts so there is plenty to do in a day. The lodge is also nice to hang out in to. The lodge itself is located right off the highway so its also easy to get to.
Took the Hiawatha Bike Trail...staff at the Ski resort not customer oriented whatsoever. Only wanted to get our group out the door with bikes that they were too rushed to let us pre-check. My son's broke down in the first 10 minutes of the ride and in the long dark tunnel. He had to get a truck ride back to the beginning of the trail and ride all the way through to join us as we waited the hour delay. No discount or apologies even offered. The trail is a nice long ride on primarily compacted gravel.
Lookout Pass is one of the greatest little ski areas in the world. The current owners rescued it from decades of marginal operations and turned it into a dependably good experience for all skiers. Lookout sits on the border and gets the most powder of any regional resort. There is never a weekday crowd but you can still count on great grooming across the entire mountain and a comfortable, historic lodge. The food is not their strong suit but they let you bring your own. The season pass prices make this one of the best deals in resort skiing. Don't miss Lookout Pass for great powder and a taste of skiing history.
Lookout Pass is an incredible Ski resort with consistently the best snow in the area! Although it isn't the largest ski area in the world, it has great variety from beginner to advanced terrain. If you haven't been there yet, you should definitely check it out.
Spectacular powder day. No crowds...Like skiing in your own private Idaho.
Fresh powder every run. Waist deep at times. Best snow I have seen all year. 18" of fresh on the car at the end of the day.
Awesome country. Best in the northwest
Used as a rest area.
Nice place to ski and board. The food is a bit expensive but that is everywhere now days.
Had a blast! First time ever zip lining!
Nice resort, the coolest part is being able to ski two states in the same day. They have two sides to the resort the Idaho side and the Montana side. The even separate their lodge 1/2 & 1/2. A good powder resort, get there early.
Great amount of snow, wonderful runs, and a great place to enjoy family time
Great food with fast and friendly staff
Very family-friendly. Every time it's been a good time.
By far the best ski resort in the area. Absolutely the best snow. Excellent deals on season's passes. Longest skiing season. Very laid-back and family oriented. Very convenient to get to. And look out for the new mountain being added in the next couple of years.
Family place pink slip very kid friendly
I love Mondays here. Open terrain untouched powder. Employees are very friendly and fun to talk to all day.
Rode the Hiawatha! So much fun!!
Love lookout!
My go to spot every year. Pre season pass for 220 after tax!? Season opening with 10 inches of fresh powder 1st week of November!? Thank you!
Awesome ski hill. Bar is great
Lookout Pass has been getting some amazing snow coverage as of December 31st, 2017. Epic powder turns, great tree runs, and lots of different terrain to choose from!
Lookout Pass is a great ski hill. I have skied all over North America and some of the best days have been at lookout. Last time I took the kids and forgot my boots at home. They got me setup and on the hill in no time! Very friendly staff!!!!
Good place to stop.
Skiing fun
I love Lookout pass. If your looking for a few challenging slopes or even some back country runs, this mountain is not as crowded as the others in the area and the snow shoeing is great around the 4 mile loop around the mountain. You've got access to the lo lo forest too, in case you're looking for adventure off the mountain. The lodge is small but great for warming up before night skiing.
Lookout looks quite different without snow. Lol
Hiawatha Trail is DEFINITELY worth the ride, but SKIP THE LONG TUNNEL. Its MUDDY , and not really worth it unless you are riding a RENTAL bike.!
Great hill and easy to get to.
Very good snow, and all the lifts reach the same summit which is nice. Good service and friendly feel.
Consistently the best snow in the area, good prices. A little small, but the snow more than makes up for it. The price doesn't hurt either
I can't exactly rate the skiing since i was there in August. They do have restrooms and drinking water, but the access is not marked. Idk if it is open year round or just for a hiking/biking event?
Love this place! Fantastic snow, great runs, well maintained. With an average of over 400 inches of snow a year, this is a great place to take the family skiing or boarding. There are enough runs to challenge any level of skier/boarder, and yet be easier on the wallet than other ski resorts in the area. AND, they are expanding into more than double the area! If you like skiing in fantastic snow, this is the place to go.
Nice bike trail during summer
Nice place to pull over with your over heated vehicle and kick it in the sunshine
Nice shop easy Hiawatha Trail rentals and lunches. Great stop. Left the 5th wheel parked all day in lower lot to ride the trail, no worries! Visited July 2018.
Visited in the summer and took the Route of the Hiawatha bike trail. 15 miles downhill. 10 tunnels and 7 trestles.
Fun ski hill. Easy to get to, friendly staff.
Somewhat limited terrain, but more than makes up for it because this mountain gets ALL the best snow, more powder days than anyone else, and the people who run it and the people who ski here are the best! Usually no lift lines either. Oh, and free ski school for kids! Affordable drinks and food at the lodge too and beers at the top! I won't say any more because this is one of the area's best kept secrets...
Lookout Pass Ski Area is great! Good snow and they have a great crew. No lines and lots of good runs to keep you skiing all day.
Beautiful mountain biking trail. The Hiawatha can be as hard or as easy as you’d like.
Sure, most of the hill is intermediate to beginner but that's what we love! Lots of turns. Plus, always great snow, great service and a lot of fun! Totally worth the drive from Spokane.
Beautiful view
Very nice staff, great snow, views. But chairs are old ,two successive breakdowns Sunday, the Monday when an entire chair came off. Safety inspections and repairs must be budgeted for and made a priority by the CEO.
This is my favorite place to take the family skiing. Great service and staff through and through. We are looking forward to the new lift next season.
Terrain is not as difficult as Silver or Schweitzer, but for the price it can't be beat. Never lift lines and there's always plenty of snow. The bar is upstairs in the lodge. If you don't mind slower lifts this is the best bang for your buck in idaho.
Great ski value. Lifts are close to parking. Lots of powder.
I grew up skiing at Lookout and I love it. Best powder amongst the 4 ski resorts accessible easily from Coeur d'Alene. It's the smallest of the local ski resorts though and very reminiscent of the 50's (it hasn't really been updated much). Also, it lacks much in the way of challenging terrain. However, it is phenomenal for beginners and mid level skiers/boarders with more terrain suitable for mid level ski enthusiasts than the other local resorts. Plus, it is located 100 feet off of the freeway, which makes it soooooo easy to get to. I gave it 4 stars and not 5 because it really needs some updates (like a high speed lift). Though I'm told high speed lift updates are coming summer of 2019.
This is where we rented bike for for the Hiawatha bike trail at the Montana Idaho border.
Family favorite growing up! Season passes for years and now I go whenever we can!
Lots of wilderness to explore. Never that busy.
LOOKOUT DESCRIMINATES AGAINST GRAD STUDENTS This should be no star but that is not an option! I pre purchased a student season pass for this season. At the time I purchased the pass the website stated that the reqiurment for the discount is to be a full time student. I am a graduate student at WSU taking ten credit hrs (nine to tencredits is the standard full time for grad school easy to google this info). When I had some questions regarding the pass I had already purchased I was informed that I am not by the standards at lookout (strictly twelve credits which was not at the time specified on the website) a full time student. When I presented documentation of the definition of full time was treated as though I was trying to pull some scam. I then contacted the CEO Phil Edholm his reponce was "Our Ticket Manager, Lisa, informed you prior to your arrival that our full-time college student criteria was twelve credits or more. My understanding is that your class schedule did not meet that threshold. We have been scammed many, many times in the past and made a determination a number of years ago that our College Season Pass Special needed a policy outline, including an age limitation, to prevent abuse." So at the end off all of this I was treated as though I am pulling some scam. AT THE END OF THE DAY THEY ONLY WANT YOUNG COLLEGE STUDENTS THAT FIT THEIR NARROW VIEW OF COLLEGE STUDENT
Went for the bike trail ride and it was awesome!
Road bikes on the hiawatha and had a blast!!!!!! This is a must do!!!
Went in the summer to get passes for the railroad bike ride. Not sure about winter time activity. Looks like a nice place.
Either I couldn't find the lookout or there's no lookout at all you can drive and see
Best place to enjoy the snow. Try the Honey Loft beer its fantastic.
Beautiful
They rent mountain bikes and there's hiking in the summer, with a nice gift area, but the snack area was lacking
Looks like a nice place
This ski area has outstanding terrain. I can only imagine Lucky Friday on a big powder morning. Thanks!
Great place for a quick hike. The locals call it the training ground. It's only about and 30 to 40 minute skin to the top, which makes it a great place to do laps and get a great cardio workout on your skis or split board. Very popular spot, situated right next to the resort that gets the most powder every year. Its also conveniently located 45 minutes from CDA.
Beautiful area and great place to visit.
Awesome day, last week and season!
10/10 Would recommend! The whole trail is super awesome especially if you take the shuttle back to the top once you reach the bottom :) The biking trail is along what used to be an old train track. You ride through tunnels that were built for the train to go through the mountain. One thing I will note is that you will get muddy going through the mile long tunnel. We were not prepared for this fact lol Bring a change of clothes ♡
Hiawatha trail is one of the best places to take your family for a bike ride. Have a cushiony seat though. The 15 mile trail is bumpy :)
Montana sure does Not plow to keep the road clean.colorado Wyoming,Idaho and Washington keep the mtn passes clear, the roads clean.the mt dot do a lousy job clearing roads.they have too many collisions. You hardly see a sand plow truck while driving thru mt. DOT people know the trouble spots, but they don't keep them clear. It's quizzical why you see the plows in parking lots and not on the roads clearing snow and ICE.
Lookout is the best don't doubt it
Great mountain to ski home town middle class feels. Friendly people great vibes
So amazing the views are breathtaking.. easy access be ready for construction on the roads and watch weather conditions
Easy to find: exit 0. I visited in August. Park your car, get your tickets then drive behind the building to pick up your bike. Friendly and helpful staff.
We rented bikes from Lookout Pass Ski & Rec Area on Saturday to ride the Hiawatha Trail. I made reservations for the bike rental, trail pass & shuttle via the website. The staff at Lookout Pass was unbelievably inept. There clearly needs to be management present and supervising. We got our bikes and were leaving before I realized we had not been given helmets, when I went back to get them someone eventually helped me adjust the bike seat too. The bikes are really old and beaten up, the brakes barely work -considering the trail is entirely downhill, this is an issue at times. We drove to the trail head and the staff here was incredibly helpful and friendly - as was everyone we encountered working on the actual trail. It's just really odd, it was a complete 180 in attitude from every single employee at both areas- maybe these two groups are managed by different people? When we returned to Lookout Pass and turned in our bikes, we decided to grab a "quick" snack since we were quite a ways away from any other options. This was a colossal mistake. Over 30 minutes later, after complaining and then standing at the counter, we finally received what we had ordered. While waiting, we watched staff eating in the prep area and basically goofing off. The Hiawatha trail is a fun ride- especially if you have children or don't bike that much but do yourself a favor & bring your own bikes or rent elsewhere - therefore bypassing the Lookout Pass area altogether.
