This national forest has beautiful large mountain lakes, tall cliffs, sunny mountain meadows, and great views. It's a nice place to take a hike, to have a picnic, or just to explore this awesome part of God's creation! There is snow on the ground most of the year, but it generally freezes hard enough to walk on top, so hiking is still possible. Keeping on the trail when it's covered in snow can be difficult, but if you have a good idea where you're hiking to it doesn't really matter.

We did a very nice hike here. It was snowy enough for about half of the hike that we couldn't have follow the trail. Thankfully someone had hiked it before us so we just followed their footprints. The lake we hiked to was mostly frozen over but in the melted areas we could see that it was a very pretty blue color. There were rocky peaks surrounding the lake that would have been neat to climb; unfortunately we were somewhat pressed for time...maybe some day!
