What amazing family owned business very knowledgeable and friendly had a blast
Great tour it was very informative
Nice stop for the kids, clean bathrooms and good selection of snacks.
Really fun tour. A concrete, level path takes you into a hundred-year-old gold mine. Interesting and educational. Tour guide was great. Kids and adults loved it.
Was very excited to take a group of 17 to this as part of a youth organization trip. The youth organization requires a copy of a certificate of liability in order for us to go on this tour. These are really common and easy to provide. Owner not only refused to provide but was not very kind about it. I am very happy that I located another mine just a short distance away that not only provided the COL, but also gave us a big discount.
Friendly and fun tour going deep into the mountain.
Excellent place to visit. Wonderful owners. The mine tour was wonderful and very well narrated. 16 stars!
These folks love what they do, give a great tour and paint a good picture of the history of mining in the early years. Very friendly and informative - well worth the stop! It is a pleasure to see people doing what they love and really "digging" into the history of the area. Try your hand at gold panning for free and maybe strike it rich!!
Fun place
Friendly and fun place
Great Tour! The guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining!
Absolutely a wonderful and worthwhile tour. Ray was a great guide! Learned lots of new things.
The staff here is very enthusiastic and friendly and seem to genuinely love mining and the history and mystery behind this particular mine. The tour lasts around 30-40 minutes and they take any size group. My wife, daughter, and I got our own tour and the undivided attention of the guide which was awesome. The tour in front of us was also just a single family. After the tour you can try your hand at panning for gold in some big tubs they have in the parking lot. You're not going to retire off what you find in there but it's a lot of fun nonetheless. The kids will find tons of cool rocks in the tubs while panning to take home. There's also a small gift shop at the front of the mine with some reasonably priced rocks and other trinkets. All in all its definitely worth the drive out if you're in the area. Highly recommended.
Family enjoyed tour
A cool place to visit on a hot afternoon. I had been on other mine tours but I saw things here I had not seen before including raw gold! A very entertaining and informative tour. Definitely take the time to go if you are in the area.
Cutest little RV Park, yes it's next to the 90, but didn't hear a sound last night! Very nice folks. Wished we had time to go through their little "Gold Mine" tour, but had to hit the road.
Mine was interesting. The guide was very good. He made the tour enjoyable.
Wonderful, educational and staff I'd great
Interesting tour of a pioneer mine. Children enjoyed the panning for gold.
So much fun for the family! You get to pan for real gold and precious gem stones before and after the mine tour.
Great tour. Good for young and old. Bring a light jacket.
Great campsites with full hookups and fire rings. The mine tour was great. The tour had great information and panning at the end. The owners are super friendly and helpful. Also they are super close to the trail of the Coeur d'Alene so great for biking. Great family fun place! Highly recommend it!!
This was a fun place to visit. The guide was amazing.
We had fun and got to know the folks who run it. Went on mine tour. No tv or internet but a great place to stay and mellow out. Plan to go back this year on our way thru. Also very close to fabulous bike trail that takes you to Mullin or to Kellogg and Harrison the other way. Lots of wildlife especially moose. Go to hill street depot for great food and say hi to Sarah and Todd you won't be sorry. Drop in the guest house in Kellogg and take the tram up the mountain. Spectacular
Interesting
My Great Grandpa and my Grandpa worked several years in the mines out in Utah. I was curious to see if there were any tours on mining to help me understand at least in part what their livelihoods were like. I found this place on the website and was pleasantly shocked at the details they've preserved to explain the process of mining. The current owners are very friendly and have a wall dedicated to a retired Miner they bought the place from. At least one of the owners has also worked as a Miner, so he can give a lot of insight you'd never think of unless you were involved. They also gave a gold panning demonstration, which was entertaining and harder than you'd first think. Great gift shop for a take home and easy to get to. Highly recommend!!
Awsome time.
The kids had a blast
Touring the Gold mine was an amazing experience. The original miners tools & cart are still present & on display. This tour is well thought-out & very informational. The staff are friendly & extremely knowledgeable. Panning for gold at the end of the tour was "icing on the cake". This place is family friendly and great for all ages.
We took our children, ages 8 and 3, when we were in town for their spring break. It was fun to learn more about the mine and the kids loved panning for gold.
Knowledgeable guides with a great sense of humor. Fascinating history and beauty. Loved it.
Love this historic place the story behind it all you just have to go and see!
We stayed at the RV park in our 35 foot motorhome for two nights as part of a three month journey. We found the paved site very level and enough room as to not need to unhook our towed vehicle. Pappy gave us an informative tour of the Gold Mine and we panned for gold. A very relaxing stop whether for overnight or just to tour the mine. Great to see such a nice family run operation.
This is a fun time for the whole family. My kids, ages 6 and 8, had a great time. The tour guide (didn't catch his name, but he is the guy on the far left in the picture on the main page of the website) was very friendly and knowledgeable. His family history is in mining and he himself was a miner. It's well worth the trip if you're in the Kelloge, ID area definitely stop in. After the tour you can do some gold panning which was a nice bonus and the kids loved it!
Very interesting educational & great workers
Vary friendly people. LOVED the gold mine tour and gold panning. Only flakes in it but was a vary fun experience. No WiFi only 30 amp hook ups. Just across the road is like a 73 mile paved walkway from like Mullen to Coeur d'allen going mainly along the river. Walk right for about a mile and a half and it takes you straight into town.
very informative ..
What a great little rv park! We would stop again. We went on the tour of the mine and it was wonderful, the guide and the owners were terrific! Great stop!
Bring a light jacket, constant 48-50 degrees
Great little adventure!
Wear a jacket! It's 48 degrees underground for an hour tour.
A nice RV Park, but close to highway traffic noise.
Fun stop when driving though N. Idaho.
We had a great time exploring the cave. The history behind this mine is unique.
Great little RV park. Staff friendly and non intrusive. Gold Mine is worth the tour.
Try it its fun
Excellent educational and fun
Very interesting gold mine tour
Well worth stopping to see! The tour of the mine is fascinating. Really enjoyed hearing about the mystery surrounding the mine. It is not a phony mine, but the real thing! Spend some time afterwards mining for gold. None of us had ever panned for gold, but using the instructions provided we all found a few flakes.
Awesome experience. The nicest people that run or own it. You must go!!
These guys are really good people and have an excellent campground, and you have to experience the underground mine tour! Keep up the great work guys.
Fun place to learn the history of the mine and area alongvwithvseeing the different minerals in the rocks, and of course trying to pan for some gold after the tour is fun as well.
Stayed there July 4-5...nice quiet rv park with a very reasonable price for full hook ups. There’s a really nice walking trail across the street along the river which was perfect to walk our dogs. The mine tour was great Ray was a great tour guide and his passion for mining and mining history really shines through. We enjoyed our stay and plan on being back next time we come through Kellogg.
You have to do this at least once! Amazing history and great experience for young and old.
The RV part is horrible.
Lots o fun. Very informative. A must of your on the area
It is an example of a mine dug with hand tools candles and dynamite.
Definate must see .great place to take the kids .just a cool place no matter your age.
Had a to time at the mine nice people
This was such a fun tour with a unique history! The staff/owners were so friendly and helpful, and you could tell the guide really loved to give the tours! The mine was very safe (coming from someone that is in mines as a career), and comfortably sized. There are several fun surprises in the mine too!
This is an absolute MUST! It was fun and educational, our guide was knowledgeable and entertaining. The story behind the mine was very interesting and the mine was spectacular. Allocate 3 hours (1 for the tour and 2 hours gold panning).
It's amazing, and the staff are super friendly. The kids loved it!!!!!
Loved it.. this group was great. Thx for a side of history that is lost in the hills. Panned and went home with our own pieces of GOLD. "Nothing can stop you but the yellow stuff when you've got..... Gooooold fever."
Well worth it and very educational! Cant wait to go again! The couple that run it are truly one of a kind. The gift shop is fun unique and affordable. You will walk away with a WEALTH of knowledge♡
Awesome people, great tour and a lot of knowledge of the mining industry and of the local history.
Its quaint and its pretty. Pretty small and limited. No bathrooms or shiwers or cable or wifi. Just a place to park
Liked the tour, very interesting.
This place is awesome. You get to learn a little history and see some real gold. They show you what it was like to mine back in the day and then they let you pan for your own gold. A great place to visit and spend a little time.
Great place Loved the tour and eaven found some gold in the planning area.
What a wonderful place. Stopped by on our way home to Oregon. Very informative and kids loved looking for gold on the tour. Great little gifts in the gift shop and panning at the end was super fun. Owner who gives the tour was awesome!
This experience was so great for the kiddos. The location everything was such a great great experience!!
I have lived in the valley 12 years and had never been on the tour. Boy have I been missing out. Our tour guide was fantastic, very knowledgeable. My 3 year old loved the fish at the first part of the shaft and gold panning when we finished.
Very interesting, learned things I never knew
Our tour guide, Dave, was awesome. Full of knowledge about the mine, enthusiasm, and humor, even when he was giving a tour to just two people. The mine itself is very interesting and not difficult or uncomfortable to get through during the tour. Stop by if you're anywhere nearby.
The crystal gold mine was pretty cool but a little pricey in my opinion. but what isn't when you're on vacation. the kids loved it and we all got to pan for gold for an hour nothing amazing just in some horse trough or something like a horse trough filled with gravel there is a few gold flakes in there that we found but who knows someone might get lucky and find a little bigger gold flake haha.
It was a great place in a great location! the mine was cool it has smithite and other cool rocks!! Ray the tour guide was really kind and educational he spent a lot of time teaching my family and I. Check out little Joe his little fish he's a beast
Excellent tour with a fun tour guide. Staff was friendly and everyone there clearly loves being there. The tour took 40 minutes and was a lot of fun. Lots of fun stuff in the gift shop as well and the gold panning is great fun for kids.
I love attractions such as this where you're educated during your visit, can have a hands-on experience and feel welcome! A not to be missed tour here in Kellogg! The owners and staff are fun, kind, super nice and set a fabulous example on how folks ought to be treated! Many kudos!
Really fun and informative mine tour plus gold planning for kids and adults outside the mine. A little pricey, but quite enjoyable.
Such an amazing find! The tour was amazing and informative and so welcoming!
Not worth watching
Spent one night Wonderful If you listen carefully you will hear the traffic on I90
Staff were very friendly. It was very informative and fun!
Great place to visit and stay they also have an rv park. The gold mine is great and the owners are great . And they have a cool little store.
Moo
Awesome. Owners are my relatives and are really sweet
Overall it was nice. The tour guide was very knowledgeable about the mine and everything around him. But also made me a little uncomfortable to actually look around to much. The fish were cool. And the oppertunity to try to pan for gold was neat but overall wasn't everything I hoped for. Although owners are very polite.
We had a great time. The tour and panning lesson were great!
After September 7th hours are 10 to 4.
Great experience, very knowledgeable staff on history and mining. Fun for kids and adults, the gold panning was super fun!
Very interesting historical place! And owners, a very friendly couple, make this place amazing! I like the tour and I very like gift shop with many different minerals! The tour takes 40-45 minutes, and you could see a lot of interesting things.
Good experience found some gold.
Superb, informative and interesting mine tour. Contains elements you won’t find in any other mine! Highly recommended!
Wonderful guide and fun experience! RV park is great also. Fun stop in a beautiful part of Idaho.
Awesome experience!!!
Fun tour, great guides, right price,
Great tour!
Super cool experience! My kid will never forget it.
Great historical walk back in time. Guides are very informative. Learning to pan for gold is a skill.
Friendly owners. Interesting
Informative mine tour
Nice shade .
We had a good time on the tour..a lot of information and history..our tour guide was great. I recommend it would be a nice family tour.
Amazing friendly educational and fun
Great owners
Fantastic family event. The tour guide was fantastic amd the tour was very interesting, in a good way. The panning experience is great with the kiddos.
Small park, no satellite or cable, due to trees and mountains. Owners were great though. Near Wallace which is a great town to visit. Probably would not stay again.
Exceptional mine and tour! Our guide was amazing and made sure that everyone was having a good time. Panning for gold was a blast and the prices in the gift shop were very reasonable!!! The entire staff was very nice and did a super job of explaining the history of the mine. Thank you Crystal Gold Mine Staff!!!
Full RV hookups at a good price and a friendly staff.
Loved the tour, and the panning for gold after. The staff was great!
Very fun
Awesome tour guide and he had great information about the mine
Awesome
Wonderful experience. Great for kids all ages
The owner was really knowledgeable and friendly and gave a fantastic tour! A great way to spend the day with the family, I highly recommend
Fantastic tour, friendly and knowlegabe staff. This is not another cheesy roadside attraction, the mine is the real deal.
A great expieriance
Lots of fun, very interesting tour, our guide was awesome and had a blast gold panning after the tour.
This was a good find on our way to Spokane and we are glad we stopped by. This is a very old mine that the owner gave some history about it and why he got this opened. Dave the guide is very cool, gave us a load of information, was very patient throughout and there was absolutely no rush during the tour. Its very recommended if you have not been to any mines before. Make sure you carry jackets (even in summer) and there is no worries if you are claustrophobic as the tunnels are wide enough.
We have been to many mines touristy and uncontrolled, Bisbee being the most informative. This one "Crysatal Gold Mine" is Over priced for a small mine but interesting. Enjoy and Safe Travels.
Great little mine
Fun place to go
The tour was very interesting and informative. Being in a real mine was kind of neat. Also did some panning for gold. No gold flakes put some garnet and pretty stones.
Way fun! Our whole family loved it (10 yo, 8 yo, 6 yo, 3 yo). The tour was very informative and the guide, Dave (but goes by the nickname "Bozo") was quite funny and he was great with the kids and keeping them engaged. The mine is quite cold (it's at 50° year round), so take a jacket. We were glad we had something more than shirts. Then, we got to go gold panning. While my kids all dreamed of hitting the mother lode, they settled for several cool looking stones they found. I consistently got 2 or 3 flecks of gold per pan. Before we knew it, we spent an hour panning for gold... It was that fun!
Really enjoyed the tour and had fun panning for gold afterwards.
This tour was absolutely fun and great. Very educational and the owners truly are gold in the rough.
The tour guide is outstanding and a fellow shipmate.
This is a very nice park. Sites are paved and level. WSE available. Only thing is it's close to the highway so there is traffic noise.
The tour was very... interesting to say the least. The gentleman giving the tour was definitely a different kind of person than you would expect. Long and short of it I would definitely go back. It's great with about 10 people. Anymore than than and the noise is too much
Absolutely a good time, we even learned a little. Everyone was super friendly, tour guide was passionate about the history and sharing it with us! Panning for gold after was a treat for sure! Would go back for sure! Worth the time and affordable!
We took our family on the gold mine tour. Our guide was so interesting and passionate about the mine and it's history, we found it a lot of fun and a bonus that it included panning for gold.
Mine tour was awsome but owner was very rude
Fun trip with the kids.
Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. We learned so much about old timey mining.
As a bit of a history and geology buff I really enjoyed the tour. It provided a glimpse of how gold and silver were mined in the frontier days of the Silver Valley of Idaho.
Fun experience, great guide!
It was pretty cool! Everyone should go do the tour!
Loved the tour through the mine, learned alot about mining.
Great tour and fun paning for gold
My grandkids love this place. The staff is excellent
Small, cozy RV park. We stayed in spot 21 with complete hookups that were priced affordably. We got an additional discount for staying a week at $175. The staff was great and we did the mine tour and learned how to plan gold. There are no restrooms and showers, but does have a porta-potty.
A must do if in the area!! So amazing that mine stayed hidden for so long.
Kid friendly tour with lot of gold to see up close still in the rocks.
Cool family outing. Loved the trout!!
