My Son and I celebrated his 28th Birthday today by going to Cleos Walters Ferry and Museum. We had a great peaceful day. We enjoyed walking up and down the different paths and trails. It truly is a great beautiful place!

Jesse Lassandro

Real cool place. It's easy to miss and I think they keep it that way. It's also more weird than you think, but hey it's beautiful especially in the spring/summer. The amount of lifesize bronze figures, the weird signs everywhere, even...dinosaurs hahaha. Guarantee you will like it and if you have kids they will freaking LOVE it. I go a couple times every year

Chantell Gergen

Beautiful & Amazing Place, Easy To Lose Track of Time Wandering The Trail All The Way Thru. Just Spent 2 Hours Checking It Out For The First Time & Concluded Our Visit With Feeding The Peacocks.

Renee Benner

Interesting history. A must stop if your interested in the Snake River and its many stories.

Melissa

Nice place to go explore. Theres a few old buildings to look at which are neat and we saw a Mama deer and her babies when we walked on the trail. We climbed up to the rainbow and crosses, wasn't too bad of a hike and there were benches to rest on halfway up. My 8 year old and I did it in flip flops (unexpected). Theres some neat things set up along the trail. We fed the peacocks, they ate right out of our hands. They don't charge but there is a locked donation box if you want to donate.

Rachel Velarde

It was so beautiful and so many inspirational signs under a different bird houses along the trails. So much to see you feel a spiritual connection. So grateful to the family who created and shared with us this wonderful place.

John Hewitt

You have to come to Cleos! This us an amazing place that must experienced by young and old. I dont want to give it away in a description but be prepared to walk a bit, bring a canera, and even bring a picnic if you like. Give yourself an hour for this visit at least :) There is a ledger and a donation box in the parking lot, sign it and leave a little or a lot if you can :) Just come on out and enjoy :)

Funky, shabby, fascinating. It's worth going for the hundreds of bird houses alone, not to mention the hundreds life like bronze statues.

Niko Icardo

The garden was an exhibit of religious fervor and appreciation for life, a wonderful place to visit even if you don't subscribe to any theology.

karl shartzer

This is a VERY strange place, and quite heavily Christian. You won't find it unless you stop at Dan's Ferry Service. Dan's is a gas station and pleasant convenience store. If you pull into the parking lot at Dan's (I hope you go in and buy something. The people there are friendly - great beer selection too), look to your right and you will see a narrow, paved road with a small sign directing you to Cleo's. Turn down that little road. You'll see some interesting old buildings that were part of the ferry station (there was a time when ferry boats traveled the Snake River, and the ferry station at Cleo's is called Walter's Ferry), a home where the owners and caretakers live, and a dirt lot for parking. There are also two donkeys back there, in a little area that looks too small for them. I don't know if the donkeys are friendly, and therefore, I don't advise trying to pet them. I didn't. No fee to visit, but there is a locked donation box. Please put money in it. The caretakers do a good job keeping up the place, and don't charge anything, so please be nice to them by leaving a donation. The walking path is mostly paved, but not entirely. You will see massive collections of lawn ornaments, a large area featuring many life-size statues of people in a parade (this was impressive), some odd little buildings, and a few graves. Not a cemetery though, like another reviewer wrote. I like walking through old cemeteries. I"m not the ghost-hunter type - I like the artistry of the headstones and the history of such places. (Want to see a very interesting old cemetery? Go to the one just outside Idaho City). But there's no cemetery at Cleo's to walk through, and if you are not looking, you might miss the graves. I liked the themed collections of lawn ornaments, the statues, the old buildings. And, even though I'm not a religious person, I did like the little garden of prayer - I think that is what it was called. There's a little chain link fence gate (close the gate behind you). You'll see a shaded area, with some statues and a small pond. Good place to sit and rest, especially if you visit Cleo's on a warm day, like I did. I didn't mind that little area being Christian. Nice, actually. I did NOT like how every few feet I walked, I saw a little sign with a positive affirmation or Christian message. I did not visit Cleo's Ferry Museum to read a self-help book, nor the Bible. The little signs distract the eye, and I kept finding myself reading the signs instead of looking closely at the exhibits. One cool thing to do is follow a trail up the hillside. After you walk through the dirt trail forested area, you'll come back to black top. Instead of turning, walk the dirt trail up the hill. There are some benches up there. Sit awhile, and enjoy the view. I'd suggest retracing your steps down the hill. It seemed there was a trail going off toward the entrance, but the trail I was on just faded away, and I ended up walking through the brush downhill. Good thing I was wearing jeans. This is the first roadside attraction I've ever visited. I went to this place alone, and there were no other people on the entire trail with me. I felt a bit creeped out at times. If you go with family or friends, you will probably feel just fine. This place is definitely family friendly, except if you have small, unruly children. If your youngsters are very well-behaved, they'll do fine, but if they are little monsters, they will probably want to run around and play with the lawn ornaments and statues. One last thing - I was disappointed there was no guide, and that the old buildings were locked. I would have liked to have seen inside. On the Cleo's facebook page, I noticed that occasionally the people who run the place do open the buildings and are around. But not usually. This place is worth visiting, but it would be a more enjoyable experience if all the little signs were taken down, if it were a mostly non-sectarian place, and if we could see inside the buildings and learn more about them and the ferry depot.

Diane Getrum

I do not know how to describe this place. Prime location on the Snake River. Unique collection of yard art. Elaborate bronze statues, garden globes, gnomes and fairies, all with religious narration. You have to go once or you would never believe the place.

Shae Graces

This place is one of the best kept secrets! I go there to walk and clear my head. I always feel so at peace. There is a lot of God stuff so if your not good with that, ignore it there is a lot of other stuff worth seeing.

Daniel M. Christensen

neat place to bring your in-laws

Jill Campbell

Very fun place to explore the past.

Melissa

Sara Terrell

Otherworldly place. Bring a picnic and stay for hours. It's better not to describe everything so you can discover it as you walk. This is a very religious themed place but my non religious family still adores it.

R. C.

What a cool place to go. Bring your kids, they'll love it.

philsince59

This place is a treasure. Take a leisurely stroll along the Snake River and nature trail, enjoy the positive vibe; the burros, peacocks, sculptures, statuary and folk art will make you smile, and you may even see deer crossing the trail! Spend 1/2 or 2 hours depending on how long you linger or relax on one of the many benches/contemplation spots. All for free or voluntary donation. Also, be sure to get some eats/provisions next door at Dan's Ferry Crossing store!

Rachel Velarde

Patricia Taylor

Most wonderful place to relax and renew your strength in the Lord

Havilah Stone

I highly recommend taking the drive down and walking a couple miles anytime you're feeling overwhelmed with life. Taking the time to relax and focus on nature and God and everything bigger than you is life changing.

John Yancey

It's like walking back in history. Though well worn, the exhibits are remarkable. I remember helping a friend of mine do electrical work on the main home about 30 years ago, and not much has changed. :-) which is a good thing!

Nancyraymac .

That is such a neat place! Great place for a walk, benches at random, and shade. Plan to spend several hours here. Bring a picnic lunch. Kids would love it. There was no peacocks this time. There must be a couple hundred assorted birdhouses posted thru out the grounds. Donations are accepted.

Ruby Vansickle

I've wanted to visit here for a couple of years. It is a wonderful place with so many surprises. We need to spend a lot more time next time. There's so much to see. I LOVED IT!!

Sarah Phipps

Such a fun hidden gem! I love that the pathway is a circle so kids can explore without the worry of getting too far ahead or lost. The random and eccentric statues, trinkets, and hidden areas make it full of fun and interesting points of discussion not to mention that it is truly a piece of Idaho history! It can get hot during the summer so you will definitely want to avoid the heat as much as possible, either by early/late in the day or cooler months of the year.

sara polotto

It was a very fun scenic place to have some family time. And take the kids of all ages. I definitely recommend anyone to go.

Damon Kidman

Nice place for fishing and a nice boat ramp

Carol Coose

Fun visit

Kenneth Rentfleish

Peaceful, serene and thought provoking. In a world where you pay for everything, it's nice to know that a display this beautiful merely suggests a donation. The paved walkway is a nice touch for those who are less mobile. There is a religious theme throughout but not specifically dedicated to any one, merely there to help you focus and contemplate. Thank You to the provider.

Melissa Campbell

Always a fun place to take friends who are visiting, or just a place to take the kids for a long walk. So many cool things to see.

julie demoville

Cool and a little creepy, but I think it is because the statue's are old. Definitely worth the beautiful drive and scenery.

sara polotto

It was a very fun scenic place to have some family time. And take the kids of all ages. I definitely recommend anyone to go.

Teresa Menard

We got to see a group of beautiful dears, and peacocks.

April Carpenter

Very unique point of interest. It's about a mile-long, mostly paved walking path where there are hundreds of statues, garden decorations, inspirational and religious signs. Quirky, for sure, but a nice walk and the kids loved seeing different themed areas along the walk. It is free, but there is a box for donations at the beginning of the path.

GothGoddess1

This place is incredible. There is a mile walk of so many wonderful statues and spiritual quotes. There is even an old church and a replica of the tomb. There are peaceful knolls where you can sit and relax. The buildings we're closed when we visited but so much love and care had been put into this place. It's a beautiful drive to get out there too. I just loved it so much. I want to being my family there next time we're in Idaho

Betty Rice

Very inspirational

sjkeshian

This is a truly magical and wondrous place. Perfect for a Sunday outing with the fam!

Big Muff Madrid

This about the oddest place I've ever seen. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as to what is happening at this site and the random collections but that is part of the charm and the creepiness. It's definately is a Christian themed attraction. There is a long hike to see the entire sight and it is quite a walk. When I post the photos please don't ask any questions because I have no answers.

Dale Allen

Still with the Ride Idaho support team. Good times.

Very unique and uplifting place to visit. They had peacocks roaming the grounds with their babies. Outbuildings were fascinating to see. Medical museum has an iron lung and very old xray machine. Trail is approximately a one mile loop. So much to see that I dont have time to list it all! Positive saying everywhere. Very faithful family built this.

Elizabeth Oos

We love this place; super kid friendly, obviously.

I like this place. Check it out!

Andrea Moniz

Great place to unwind, take a walk and feed the peacocks
