Here you have the information of people who purchase the services of Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden (Tourist Attraction) in the state of Hawaii.
At the moment the business has a score of 4.7 stars out of 5 and the rating was based on 1879 reviews.
As you can see its rating is almost the best, and it's founded on a large number of reviews, so we may be pretty sure that the score is very faithful. If there are many people who bothered to leave their feddback when they've done well with the service, is that it works.
As you know, we don't usually bother to give reviews when these are positive and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Tourist Attraction corresponds to the category of Botanical garden.
Hawaii Tropical Botanical Gardens were so beautiful. So nice to just walk around and stop to sit on a bench and enjoy the view. A must see if you are on the big island. The water views when you down by the water are so nice it was like Paradise the staff were so nice a must for any Botanical Garden person
Wow, just wow. This is a must visit if you're staying on the big island. The entire garden is well kept and has many features worth seeing and enjoying. The entrance is pretty steep but once you get past that, it's basically flat. Plenty of great small waterfalls and awesome ocean views. The bird cage is a little depressing because they just sit there but everything else is beautiful. The smells are something I've never experienced and plenty of seating areas if you wanted to have a picnic while enjoying it.
Beautiful! Definitely a must see stop. Maybe difficult for those with mobility challenges. The trails can be a bit steep, but they are paved. Fantastic opportunity to see amazing plants, flowers, a waterfall, and the ocean all in one place.
Such a beautiful place, i really like and aspire to the story of it. Deffently worth seeing, so pretty and open, natural looking and had a variety of flowers and different plants. There is a steep ramp that you have to take up and down so be cautious!
This garden is very incredible and a must see on the Hilo side of the island. There diverse plants that grow within the park are incredible. There is an orchid garden with many beautiful blooming orchids that smelled so sweet. The waterfall was so tranquil and peaceful, a perfect place to meditate. Be sure to bring mosquito spray as we did get bit in our party even after applying the spray we purchased from the gift store.
Definitely worth visiting if you're on this side of the island. It's small but very lush and pretty.
Beautiful garden Oasis. A mile and a half walk amongst plants from around the world. a wonderful ocean view.
I've been to botanical gardens in Washington, Oahu, and Hawaii, and this one was spectacular! This garden boasts history lessons for those interested in Hawai'i and all the cultural influences that have made an impact. The trail starts on a decline wooden ramp. Just be careful on rainy days. They reccomend hanging on the rail for safety. I wa as able to navigate easily with the stroller. People typically spend 1 to 2 hours taking pictures of the collection. The trail extends to the ocean with breath taking views. Visit the museum, in the gift shop to view Asian immigrant pottery from the past. A beautiful collection of flowers, some of which I've never seen. If you're working your way along Hawai'I, this is worth a look.
It was cool but kinda boring for small ones so I'd skip this if you have young kids with you. The walk takes 20 minutes if you walk fast as we did, but you can easily spend a few hours there if your really into plants
Lovely place, friendly, knowledgeable staff. If you use a walker or chair they have have a golf cart for the hardest part at the beginning. The gift shop has some nice things in every price range. They can pack and ship if you wish.
This is a beautiful park with an interesting story. The work that goes into lovely park is amazing. It is slick on the walk into that the park. Use the handrail and take your time. I received free admission because I'm a veteran. The staff is very nice and helpful. Beautiful park that is worth a visit.
Where do I begin!? Just the drive to get here was amazing! The plant life is so perfect. Orchids everywhere and magical views of the cove greet you every once in a while as wind your way down to an aww inspiring view of the waves crashing on the cliffs. I could have spent hours there but sadly was urged along by hungry companions.
We stumbled upon this place during our drive from Hilo to Waimea. Initially, we were puzzled as to why it was 20 bucks a person to walk through a garden. It didn't take long for us to think it was worth while. We spent about 3 hours dumbfounded by the beauty of the all the orchids, enjoying the smell of all the flowers, and sitting by the waterfall and ocean listening. There are not many things you can do in HI for 20 bucks a person and feel like you got a bargain. We will definitely be back.
A absolute wonder to walk thru. Everything you could dream of in a rain forest. Very well kept. You WILL use your legs coming back up.
BEAUTIFUL HIKE! Very green and fun to walk through. There is a natural waterfall, a koi pond, bird atrium, picnic area, killer ocean views, and wide variety of plants/flowers. Mosquitoes are a concern, so prep for that.
This place has the most amazing flowers. You walk around and see all these things in full Bloom. And to finally see signs to know exactly what I'm looking at, is really helpful and much appreciated! The walk goes right down past some white small waterfalls which is a good place to take some family photos. There are also some carrots they have in a very large pen that you can stop and look at for a while. My only concern would be the amount of Hill walking for the tour. The 1st part is pretty steep, but the whole trail is either cement or boardwalk with handrails. If you get very tired doing that kind of activity, you can stop at 1 of the many benches to sit and rest for a while.
Before you begin to explore Hilo and surrounding rain forest areas, you should definitely make a trip to this place. They have almost all possible varieties of plants/trees you can find in tropical regions across the world, neatly labeled, planted next to their international cousins to give you a reference. The garden is neatly organized with walkways everywhere. The story of the park's creators is fascinating too. You can see Hawaiian Aloha written all over it :) Expect to spend around 2-3 hours, they have parking on-site and umbrellas etc for a rainy day.
Beautiful gardens down to oceans edge. Wear good strap on sandals for the walk, not slippahs (flip flops). Nice gift shop. Recommend What's Shakin for lunch (just up the road a few miles).
It was Beautiful, diverse plant life, maintained and clean. The parking was Good, washrooms ok. Nice little shop to get water and stuff.
The most beautiful place in Hawaii. Take the offered umbrella as you are start. You will need it!
Love the gardens, a great stroll down to the ocean but the hike back up is pretty steep. They have a golf cart for those who struggle.
THEE MOST BEAUTIFUL BOTANICAL GARDEN I'VE EVER SEEN! Definitely worth the drive. Come early so you can take your time. The views are breathtaking. Many thanks to the founders for creating such an amazing property to share with the public. Some of the paths (definitely at the entrance) are very steep, so take your time if you have difficulty with hills.
Beautiful place to see the lush green beauty of the area. Not sure if ALL of it is native to the area, but the premise behind it is. Love the idea that the founder cleared it and developed it for preservation and for others to see and learn. The plants were quite diverse and beautiful. Along every portion of the trail there was something new and beautiful.
Beautiful place. Bring grippy shoes!
Absolutely beautiful plant life and views. Bring your camera and water. It gets really humid and it takes 1hr- 1 1/2 hr to walk through it. The home down into the garden is fairly steep going up or down
Absolutely stunning views of the ocean, beautiful flowers and plants on a dense tropical forest walk. Everyone would should visit. Bring water!
The drive is rather rough but definitely worth the stroll through the gardens down to the ocean.
This is a wonderful place. There is so much to see and explore. At first you might think the park is small, but if you take your time and enjoy, you could spend hours discovering new plants and beautiful vistas. I highly encourage packing a picnic. There are multiple benches and tables throughout. We loved eating our lunch while looking out over the cove. I will say, be prepared for a little hike out as the path is steep.
Totally worth it, it has such diverse species of flowers and trees. One of the most botanical gardens I've been to.
Best I've seen and have been to several central American countries, most Hawiaan islands, and the Cook Islands. Absolutely lovely walk to the ocean through endless orchids and beyond.
One of the most beautiful gardens I've seen. Not to mention the view on the ocean
Incredible experience - filled with so much and amazing views of the ocean.
Beautiful, beautiful vegetation and flowers. Bring bug spray for mosquitos and poncho. They do have some umbrellas to borrow.
Beautiful scenery all throughout with luscious plants and rare beauty. Ocean views and perfect picture opportunities.
Absolutely beautiful gardens and fantastic staff. You always know you are visiting a great place when the people that work there are happy
Very beautiful plants native and from All over the world
Well worth the admission fee. Incredible variety of flora and great ocean vistas.
Great place. Alot of walking especially the long way out.
Wow !!! What a spectacular place. Very educational and the endover that the founder took on to bring us this creation. YOU MUST VISIT!!!! it does not dissapoint and bring your camera You will see nature not seen all in one place WOW!!!
This place is beautiful! I've been to many botanical gardens and this is one of the best, better than the Smithsonian in my opinion. The view of the coast is wonderful and the many plants are so pretty. The one downside is the steep walk down... And back up, but if you cannot walk it, they will drive you down and back in a golf cart for a fee (and for free if you have a handicap placard from what I understand). Very much with the visit.
This place is just fabulous. There are so many plants you could spend hours there. It really feels and smells like you're in a tropical rainforest. It took us a couple of hours to work our way through the garden. The trail begins with a fairly steep decline down into an area with a very pretty waterfall, then continues through acres of beautiful flowers and plants (see pictures). Make sure you go through all the areas - it's easy to miss a few spots. The staff are very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. This place is definitely worth seeing.
Amazing and beautiful, well worth the price of admission. Be ready for a brisk walk, take your time and enjoy the experience. You can't rush this.
Excellent place to see beautiful Flora that grows on the big island. Some areas are undergoing renovation. It was very nice but not the peak season for most flowers.
This place has different variety of plants. It is such a beautiful garden with wooden stairs. I was shocked to see the area built up so perfectly. A place must to go in Big Island.
Simply Amazing...well worth the hike. $20 an adult though. We spent about 2 hours there and really enjoyed it.
Absolutely breathtaking, make sure to have plenty of water and give yourselves the time to see all the amazing beauties God created
Unbeleavable place, definitly a must. So rich in all kinds of tropocal trees, plants, orchids.
Love their mission and it's a beautiful place. Take plenty of water. One issue is that their map and directions in the garden can get confusing.
This is way more than a botanical garden. The path is clearly marked and easy-to-follow. About halfway through, there are amazing ocean views that are worth far more than the $20 entrance fee
wonderful Garden. A lot of beautiful flowers and plants. One hour of trail.
If you like gardens its one to put on the bucket list. You wont be disappointed.
Far exceeded my expectations. The most beautiful place I have ever been, and run by a helpful and friendly staff.
It’s cost $20/person. But it worth to paid for amazing place.
This place is amazing. I could spend hours here.
I highly recommend visiting if you are on the big island! So amazing!
If you're on Big Island, this is a must-see. It is breathtakingly beautiful. Worth every penny. They do a fantastic job of upkeep. There's restrooms at the entrance at the top and then again away the very bottom. Well paved all the way, but very steep in the beginning, so not for wheelchairs or strollers. Once you're at the bottom and feel you can't walk back to the top, they offer $10pp golf cart ride back up. Just tell the security officer at the bottom of the park and he'll call for pick up (pick up is next to the restrooms at the bottom of park under a covered area). We had to do that for my dad who is handicapped and walks on a cane. The park offers free umbrellas at the entrance. It always rains in Hilo, so don't let that deter you. Bring lots of mosquito repellent!
Amazing! A must see attraction. Very unique collection of trees and plants. Monkeypod was my favourite. I just don't know, why they would add the birdcage and imprison the three birds. That was unnecessary. But, overall nice, shady and scenic. Worth it
This place is totally worth the price of admission. The grounds are beautiful and tranquil. They boast a great diversity of plants and the views of the ocean are beautiful. It is verdant, shady and lush.
Absolutely so many beautiful and unique plants- amazing! There's also waterfalls. When you get close to the end of the first half you begin to hear the waves and then you have gorgeous views of the ocean. So worth it! I'll have ro add more pics later-I took most with my camera.
I’ve visited a lot of arboretums and gardens. This is my current #1. The garden design is very well thought out and well-maintained. As you progress through the garden, you keep thinking “wow, it can’t get better than that.” But it keeps on giving. My only nitpick is that the person you buy tickets from at the window could be a bit more enthusiastic.
Untouched nature. So beautiful! Feels so peacful walking threw the forest, everything seams so wild. You can reach to the ocean and enjoy at the view and sound of the waves crashing.
This is likely the best $20 you’ll spend on the big island. The ocean views alone are worth more than that. Throw in some small falls and beautiful plants and trees, and it’s a great way to spend an hour and a half or so.
Lovely park with so many unique flora and fauna. It’s right on the bay, so you get some great views. It’s a little steep to get down into or out of the botanical garden since it’s in a valley, but thankfully there are handrails and the path is well paved.
Loved it. It was so incredible awesome so tropical i thought itvwas great
Absolutely amazing place to go! It was like stepping into a rainforest or jungle! We had a group of 14 ranging from ages 2 to 65 and every single one of us loved it. The initial walk is very, very steep (down when you get there and then up when you leave) and can be slippery when it rains. They provide umbrellas for you to take and we definitely used them! It would be sunny and then suddenly start to pour! They have an amazing amount of orchids to see all throughout the garden and even had a special area for them as well. We saw a river, a pond, and even saw the ocean. Beautiful and very well worth the price!
We could not see the place since we could not enter past 4 pm even though the park is open until 5 pm. I'm sure the place is beautiful and worth a visit but get there before 4 pm. The advertised 5 pm closure is incorrect.
Beautiful place. $20 a person entry is well worth the beauty bring water
This was far better than I thought it would be. Beautiful stroll with orchids and botanicals all around you. There is a waterfall and breath taking view of the ocean.
This is a beautiful spot with lots of colorful and exotic flowers. It's $20 per person to get in but it was worth it.
Such a beautiful place! Even if you’re not an expert gardener or flower lover, this is still such an amazing place to walk around and see plants/flowers you don’t see everyday. Highly recommended!
Great garden. Be careful of the fruit that attempts to attack you.
I love this garden. The people have done a great job with it.
One of the best locations to visit on our vacation. A top ten for sure! Reasonable entry fee and just enough to view but not take all your time
Absolutely beautiful, definitely a must go for anyone visiting The Big Island.
Absolutely amazing, spectacular views, a must do on the big island
Quite a steep path, so bearing that in mind, this place has some breathtaking views, particularly down by the ocean. The road to get here is... An adventure. Worth the trip though.
Beautiful places. Nice staff.

One of the most beautiful botanical gardens I've been to. Stunning. A good walk, with plenty of places to rest.
This place is gorgeous!! All the beautiful plants, trees, waterfall, and ocean view from the garden is beautiful. Definitely worth the trip! There is a pretty steep incline on the way down once you go through the entrance. Use the handrail and becareful. I believe they can drive people who need it to certain areas with a golf cart.
We have been to many botanical gardens around the world this is one of the best. A must see place
Beautifully designed. Watch for the steep walk going down in the beginning but if it's too hard someone in a golf cart will bring you down (and up). Lots to see both up and in front of you. Veterans and Hawaiian get a discount (bring proof).
Beautiful trail with gorgeous flowers and trees. Takes about an hour to walk this loop. Staff very nice.
An opportunity to walk through an extremely nice display of what the big island has to offer visitors regarding plant life at Hilo. I found the display quite interesting and worthy of tribute to all the individuals who built and maintain the collection of flora. When walking the site, expect a bit of exercise, but if the trek is a little too stressful, there are plenty of staff available to assist in transportation back to the main entrance. I also found the gift shop nicely designed and priced well for a worthy endeavor.
Great Hike! Beautiful setting! Great backstory! Try to read yellow words on Brown wood on Picture 4!
The variety of species in this place is just amazing. I'm not much of a botanical garden kind of guy but even I enjoyed walking through this place.
I go every fryday do my walk with my daughters lots of tropical flowers and plants benches by the ocean waterfall I recommend this place for every one.
Amazing flora and fauna! Worth every penny for sure. Go all the way down and check out the beach! I would plan for a half day adventure and take a picnic- there are some nice places to snack and a picnic table at the waves. I will be going back someday. So many orchids- so little time....
Really beautiful with all the flowers in bloom. Nearly all of the path is shaded which is nice when it's hot. The beginning has a nice slope but was easily doable in flip flops. The gift shop has bathrooms & several nice items for sale.
Absolutely amazing place! A must see if you're on the big island. Beautiful flowers, trees, and wildlife. I don't think you can find a better botanical garden anywhere. Prepare for a couple hours here and the path does some elevation, so be prepared for that.
What a fabulous Botanical Garden! We've been to many and this is probably the best one yet. It is so well organized and so much work went into making it accessible. The owners had a great vision. It is a little expensive, but if you love nature it is worth it.
Wonderful place most people miss. Totally worth a half day here! All the tropical plants and flowers you could imagine in a great setting. Helpful staff, great gift shop, all in all lovely.
Beautiful flowers, well maintained and awesome waterfront.
To be honest it was a bit boring and not worth $20 per person. I may have enjoyed it more if I was in my 70s. There are many flowers and plants and a small cage with three parrots. You can also see good ocean views.
Always a beautiful place to stop and visit while vacationing on the Big Island
Wear your walking shoes and be prepared to sweat big time the hill going in and out was rough! Maybe because I'm a fat guy but still. Opt for the golf cart rode for 10 bucks Haha other than be being fat and hot this Is the most beautiful place to view some of the most exotic plants flowers and stories on the island. It's a must do spot!!!
Lots of beautiful flowers and trees. Hike up at the end not so great.
Beautiful place. Steep hills in places. Free use of umbrella
They advertise that they are open until 5pm, but they won’t let you in after 4... not even 2 minutes after 4. I promised we would be out of the garden at 5 and explained that I came from the mainland and would not have another chance to visit the garden. No luck. Seems strange that they wouldn’t accept two full price admission fees for an hour in the garden. They need to have this on their website!!!!!
This was the highlight of our day. Worth the price and some. The orchids were stunning, you couldn't walk 5 feet without seeing one. The variety of orchids was amazing. The pamphlet they hand you was fun check off the ones you found. There was so many trees flowers and ferns to see. I would go again givin the chance.
Great day, very friendly staff, nice trail
This place is majestic , if you love nature this is the place for you I enjoyed every second of it ,all the amazing flowers and giant plants you see here are just stunning ( THE IMMENSE TREES ) great walk for all ages this is the real avatar!!!
When you think of a tropical paradise this is the place. Long walk tough path. Wear good shoes. Go more than once
This place is lovely. It is more or less a giant shade garden. Well designed and laid out with so many beautiful Hawaiin plants and flowers. Nice views of the ocean along the trail.
Vast array of different tropical foliage and flowers. Nice paved trail with beautiful views. A waterfall to capture a great family picture.
Beautiful. Even with some sun showers.
Amazing piece of true native Hawaii. Redone land by the owner. Hard to describe its beauty in words. Perfect place for any serious photographer or horticulurist. Bring shoes as the hike is steep but is worth the hike back up. The park offers rides for the elderly or those who may be a little exhausted from the hike. Gift shop also offers great selection of souvenirs and treats! A true gem of Hawaii that should be preserved. Thanks Moku!
Great place for locals and tourists, alike. Easily spent 2 hours in there and we all want to go back. Absolutely beautiful. Definitely a must see.
Really sweet spot if you like walking and beautiful nature. We went early in the morning and it wasn't super busy, which was nice. If it's a nice day, would strongly recommend packing a little lunch or snack, as there are cute spots to post up throughout. Offer complimentary umbrellas to use while you're in the park if it's raining, which is a nice touch, and the staff are all super friendly. The entry fee at $20USD/person is a little steep, but overall it's a nice way to spend some time on the Big Island.
Great place with awesome views. Perfect place to enjoy your quiet and alone moments.
Wonderful gardens near Hilo that are absolutely worth checking out! A convenient drive that shows you a wide variety of flowers, trees and plants. While a little pricey, I do believe it’s worth it and a good spend of the late morning.
If you like tropical plants and flowers, you need to do this. It was the best part of our stay on the island. A beautiful walk through a beautiful valley filled with plants from tropical environs around the globe, along a creek and a waterfall too! Steep but easy walking, takes you all the way down to a small pretty bay. Best 20 bucks per person and time we spent.
Decent, would be great if it we're just a bit cheaper. But, a solid family outing.
Excellent gardens and trail. The end is gonna be up hill, however plenty of benches and shade. You end up at the ocean with several good spots to stop and take pictures. Many little side areas focused on special plants. Well documented and signed for those of us that get into the nitty gritty. The people working there are knowledgeable. There are also tourist stuff up top for those who like such things.
Other worldly. Unbelievable place
Totally worth it. Much bigger than we expected, and so well maintained. Pretty good signage to guide you along the way (the map is also helpful). The ramp down at the beginning is a little steep so be careful if it's wet or raining, but the rest of the garden is paved and easily walkable. Wear bug spray or the skeeters will get ya!
The Botanical Gardens on the Big Island of Hawaii are amazing. I’ve been to the New York Botanical Gardens which are also beautiful, but the Tropical plants here and the setting is something else. It’s on the scenic road that departs from the highway for about 4 miles so don’t miss the turn off. There’s a $20 entrance fee, but it’s worth it, and goes to a good cause: maintaining the Garden. The path goes down to the water and loops around, and is a little steep initially. I highly recommend.
So worth the $20 admission fee! Beautifully executed with a wonderful backstory. Impeccably manicured. My favorite was the cannonball flower!
Wonderful garden! Well worth the trip from Kona. Lovely orchids and other tropical flowers throughout the park. The trail is pretty steep downhill on the way in and there is a $10 golf cart service to get you back up if needed.
Beautiful gardens and great experience. Amazing orchids and a beautiful waterfall! A couple areas were closed which was a bummer, but this is definitely an attraction that we will continue to visit when we return.
Beautiful. Peaceful. A respite in a world gone mad. You start by going down hill. It's a serious walk so if you have health issues be aware. It is worth the hike. As you descend towering palms loom above. Plants of every color and hue fill every nook. A highlight in the park is the trail that leads along the ocean. Magnificent! There are benches to rest and relax on. Just remember... You've got to climb the hill to get out. Enjoy!!
I won’t share any more pictures but… Come and take them yourself. It is an unbelievably breathtaking, tranquil, incredible botanical garden. Not to be missed. From wherever you are staying on the island make time to come here. The final 2 miles is a narrow, winding road that makes you think you made a mistake. You didn’t
Really beautiful place, but a bit pricy
A small, delightful and yet breathtaking and oh, so very colorful garden. The amazing selection of colors, textures and scents of the plants were collected from all over the tropics and lovingly planted and cared for. Can be steep at times but golf carts are available for those who request them. Staff are helpful and full with aloha spirit. My favorite is the coastal section - it is renewing, invigorating and relaxing at the same time. Our go to place for a day to disconnect!
Except that a person by the name of Ginny Moniz works for u she is bad news. Trouble maker and a gossip drama queen
Amazing flowers and views! A definite must see!
really beautiful, so many varieties in one place. The plants were labeled pretty well so it was easy to identify the tress and flowers. It was raining a bit so it added to the magic of this place. They had some umbrellas for the guests but we went without. The location is really incredible as well. It's a wonder how one mans dream and hard work can create such a paradise. The gifts shop has some really nice things as well good place to get unique gifts.
I've been to many botanical gardens, but this is one of the very best. The gently sloping walkway takes you further into the gardens until you come to the Pacific. So many lush, gorgeous plants and flowers. There's a bird house and an orchid garden. Not to be missed.
The Botanic Gardens were absolutely lovely! We saw an amazing amount of beautiful flora in such a short time! This was the only place we got a couple of mosquito bites on the Big Island, so I would recommend bringing a bug spray. Wear good shoes! The walk down the initial ramp can be slippery. #letsguide
We had a sunny day and lots of flowers blooming. The hike is a bit steep but beautiful.
This here is a MUST SEE stop. Whether or not you have an interest in plants, the walk and views alone are worth the entry fee. Be mindful though, it is steep in places and those with mobility issues should make use of the cart available. I've visited a lot of botanical gardens and it's rare that I find such a delight as this. Absolute must visit!
NAMMYOHORENGEKYO Nam comes from the Sanskrit namas, meaning to devote or dedicate oneself. Myo can be translated as mystic or wonderful, and ho means law. This law is called mystic because it is difficult to comprehend. What exactly makes it difficult to comprehend? It is the wonder of ordinary people, beset by delusion and suffering, awakening to the fundamental law in their own lives and realizing that they are inherently Buddhas able to solve their own problems and those of others. Renge means lotus blossom. The lotus flower is pure and fragrant, unsullied by the muddy water in which it grows. Similarly, the beauty and dignity of our humanity is brought forth amidst the sufferings of daily reality. BODHÏ》》》CASA
We have & will continue to visit everytime we're on the island of Hawai'i!
One of the most beautiful places on the big island. If you love plants you need to go.
So beautiful and an awesome display of tropical plants, trees and flowers. If you have ADA concerns they can drive you in a golf cart!
Beautiful, mostly shaded walk through many different t types of blooms and plants. Not two be missed!
Beautiful place to wander and relax. Lovely flowers, plants and little oasis spots. Pretty views of ocean too. I wouldn't recommend for anyone who cant walk very far or climb heights although they will haul you in a golf cart.
This was one of the highlights of our 8-day trip to big island. So beautiful. So much variety. The guided trail winds all the way down to the shore. Highly recommended.
Absolutely beautiful. If the price has you questioning whether to visit or not, I say it's totally worth it. The gardens are beautiful, and the different plant species are fascinating. You can easily spend a few hours wandering around.
Beautiful gardens... worth taking your time here
Amazing gardens! A beautiful walk through great specimens of tropical plants and flowers. Great orchids and big ferns, palms. A must stop on the big island. All the more amazing is that the canyon was filled with trash but reclaimed by a determined couple and planted with specimens from all over the world. A place worth supporting.
Most amazing experience in Hawaii. Ocean views, waterfalls, and a holistic look at Hawaiian jungle vegetation. Just make sure you have some kind of insect repellent.
Wonderful place to admire native flora in their natural environment. The park offers a magnificent view of the ocean.
An absolutely beautiful experience. Such incredible Hawaiian flora to see and smell. Well maintained trail which winds through the park down to the oceanside. Flowers and various trees and plants to enjoy.
Visited in 2017. Did not know what to expect, and I loved it. Beautiful gardens with stunning views
Amazing! Walk past a waterfall (and a few smaller ones) through an awesome tropical jungle down to the ocean, what a view! We live on Maui and we saw things growing that we'd never seen before, I will go back every time I visit big island. Staff members were so gracious. Outstanding value.
This botanical garden is one of the best I have ever seen in the tropics. It is just absolutely breathtaking. Definitely a must visit if going to the Big Island and if you have a love of plants, flowers, and nature. I recommend that you go early before it gets to hot and the masses of families arrive to disrupt the tranquil beauty of this amazing location.
We weren't planning on stopping here, but drove past it and decided to make the stop. We're so glad we did. This garden is absolutely beautiful! Beautiful views... and the flora can't be beat!
Wow, wow, wow, absolutely astonishing. A must see on the island. The most impressive botanical garden I've ever been too, aside from maybe the Beauchart Gardens in Victoria, BC, but that's not really apples to apples. We went in May when everything was blooming. It's an unimaginably beautifully place. This is the garden to end all gardens. Not to mention it's got cliffside views and a waterfall. GO!
A beautiful place to visit if you love tropical plants....easy walking, and always well kept.
Big Island is a treasure island. There is so much natural beauty that I was a little skeptical thinking if this botanical garden could offer more. And indeed it does. The experience is mesmerizing. First of all it is nestled in nature and you are close to the coastline, views and all. The flowers have perfect color and form, and there are so many different ones, some one would see for the first time. Photographing them up and close was fun and so rewarding, looking back at those pictures brings fond memories so many years later and an intense desire to visit the gardens again.
The garden is filled with an astounding variety of orchids, palms, and other local plants. It's a fairly easy walk with a few steep grades that was actually fun to traverse. Tons of photo opportunities. The staff is absolutely great, and helped us get through the park even though it was close to closing time, and answered all our questions with big smiles.
My favorite Botanical Garden anywhere. I’ve been there in both summer and winter and it is spectacular anytime. Can see the entire place in under 2 hours. Beautiful design, scenery and well organized and easy to follow. Feels like I have stepped into a tropical paradise. Be sure to see the ocean vista.
One of my favorite places on this island. Excellent services and breathtaking plants
Pretty spendy. But also very pretty
This place is a total hidden gem. It is one of the most beautiful places on Hawaii. Don't miss this! Bring some good shoes to walk in. Nice trek down to the water and back up.
Simply amazing experience to take a slow walk through a jungle. The sights and sounds are absolutely incredible.
Tropical plants from all over the world. Most beautiful gardens I have ever been. Hike a bit steep to begin but so very worth it.
