REVIEWS OF Bishop Museum IN Hawaii

HiTz

The rich history and culture of the Kingdom of Hawaii and it's people. Beautiful grounds with so much information. Come for the lava demonstration but stay for the three floors filled with the History of Hawaii. You might not be able to pronounce any of their names but at least you will learn about how the Hawaiian people lived and survived being in the middle of the ocean thousands of miles from other civilizations.

David Sachse

Bishop Museum is located close to Honolulu and Waikiki. It is readily reached by both public transport or the Waikiki trolley. It is a lot larger than it looks from the road and includes a planitareium that has hourly shows on is doomed roof on the stars around Hawaii and wave fareing. The science centre includes a twice daily lava pour. The pennant exhibits provide an extensive history of Hawaii and the south pacific. It is worth getting the two day ticket so that you can enjoy the exhibits at your leisure - and still have time on the day to visit the beach

Ashlee Wheeler

Bishop Museum is a must for both residents and visitors. There is a lot of different sections to it so plan to spend at least 1/2 a day here. They do live lava shows and have a planetarium. Wont be missing much if you skip the planetarium show but make sure and do the interactive areas in its waiting area, especially make sure and play with the sand!

Marlon Liddell

Wow, Been to Hawaii 10 times now and have never had so much phenomenal Hawaiian Culture and history shown to me ever. Please Visit, and the Lego Exhibit, a must see. "Great Customer Service "

Peter Aronson

Don't miss. Beautiful old museum plus new science center geared for kids. Excellent collection of Hawaiian and Polynesian items. Good exhibit on human colonization of Polynesian and Pacific islands. Good planetarium show. Docent tour was very good.

apjitm hawaiindia

I love the education, and fun filled discoveries. The planetarium is one of my favorite things. Was totally blown away by the traveling Bricks exhibit.

Denney Rowcliffe

I asked a lot of this Museum. I went to the Bishop Museum this weekend to help understand history of Hawaii and it's people and integrate and create some context to the current protests, regarding the thirty meter telescope on the mount Mauna kea. Generally speaking the Hawaiian Hall of the Bishop Museum with its dark wood

Sherell Branch

Pretty pricey but we really liked all the history there! We got some beautiful gifts for family from the gift shop also.

Napper Family

An architecturally beautiful and meaningful/well curated museum and planetarium. Excellent source of information and exhibits that illustrate the history and significance of Hawai'i and her people. A must see for every visitor to Oahu.

Calvin King

Great history and nice area to walk around.

suzi mcclain

Very good museum, there is a section on Easter island with a very knowledgeable and helpful man hosting. There's also an interactive science and geology section that is great for kids and grown-ups alike. The planetarium puts on several shows a day. There is a very nice gift shop as well.

Amy Van Devender

Went for reception on grounds. Enjoyed exhibits on Hawaiian culture but really wanted to see collections - but behind the scenes that evening.

Pete

It's a great, smaller scale experience. It has some ok interactive stuff for kids in the planetarium and the science adventure center. Unfortunately they didn't do the lava flow at the science adventure center while we were there but the demonstration and speaker about volcanoes was super excellent. The main museum part was what you would expect from a museum. All about the Oahu island and surrounding Hawai'i islands. Some interactive stuff was here but the best part was the guided tour. The tour guide dude really knew his stuff.

Jacob Smith

Really fascinating, and can make an enjoyable yet educational trip out of this with family or friends. Really interesting to learn more about the culture, and what it's all about. The building about the island and wildlife really stuck out the most, but at the same time the entirety of the museum caught my attention. There really is not a lot of bad to say about this experience, as it really educated my peers and I. I mean the gift shop is a little pricey but its understandable. Would definitely recommend paying a visit if you are in the area.

David Leblanc

Great museum!! We went to this museum expecting to do a quick visit but we're surprised by the massive exhibition. They offer a wide variety of exhibition. The lava demonstration was great with a fantastic host. We wish we knew how big the museum was so we could have planed to spend more time there. We had to run across the last section of the museum to get a glimpse of what was left before they're closed. Definitely a must see!!

Jason Jewel

Beautiful building rich with history and art of the hawaiian culture

Jonathan Valdez

I’ve come here for events and to see the main gallery hall and special exhibits. A great place to explore by yourself and with friends. Come here if you have time before your flight. It close to the airport.

Arielle Bernal

Lots of really good things to see here. The events and exhibitions are always interesting and engaging. The staff are friendly and the teams that put all of the exhibitions together do a beautiful job. I really enjoy visiting this place with my daughter. :-)

joseph mannino

Needed more time to go though the museum but if you like history it a beautiful museum to go and see.

Linda Ariola

The Lego displays where wonderful. Love when they have special traveling events.

Frances Holland

Our Lyft driver recommended Bishop museum and he said he went for a field trip when he was little lol. We got in with paid admission thanks to our Oahu Go Card and checked out all the exhibits. The history of the Polynesian cultures and Hawaiian royalty were the most outstanding. My mom and I got to dress up in the provided cultural attire in one of the exhibits. The science hall was OK but I think it was aimed for children as well as many of the interactive portions of the whole museum. It was a great spot to check out without being surrounded by a crowd of tourists.

Scott Gittens

Historical artifact collection providing wonderful educational opportunities. Can not overstate the professionalism and passion provided by the docents. Our guide highlighted snippets of the museum making the mammoth quantity of information bite-size, digestible, and incredibly delicious. Well worth the trip from Waikiki and wouldn't think twice about the admission fee. This can easily be a full day but should be granted at least a half day to give it justice. Don't miss The Bishop Museum when you're visiting Oahu.

Kylez McGee

I've lived in Honolulu for almost 20 years and never been. I had family come into town and a friend of mine suggested it. We had 2 kids (6 and 2 years old) and 4 adults (one was a grandparent). We did the Hawaiian building (we only got to do 2 floors because of time), science building and the volcano exhibit at noonish, planetarium with hokuleia, and the Lego exhibit (was in town). Everyone really liked the museum and told my friend that my family enjoyed it.

Julia Cruz

The museum is nice and you can spend a whole day here with parking costs being fairly cheap and ticket prices not too expensive. I’d recommend the general admission ticket to just about anyone. Planetarium leaves a lot to be desired but it’s only 2-3$ for a show so you get what you pay for, I suppose. Overall, an interesting place to add to your list of “must-dos” if you’re interested in learning about the history of Hawaii

Brian Alford

This is honestly one of the best museums I have ever been too. The Pacific Room has a wonderful layout with all kinds of interesting artifacts and beautifully displayed materials. The informational plaques (often overlooked) give a great overview of the whole of Hawaiian cultural history with plenty of visual aids! Learned a lot, will visit again.

Krystle-Ashley Ulep

I have a 2-year old, and she LOVES it here. So many places in the Science Adventure building for her to have fun and explore; that's definitely her favorite part. But the exhibits in the Castle Memorial Bldg are always great, too! Plus, I love the stuff at the gift shop.

Ashley Kho

Bishop museum is one of my favourite places in Honolulu. The guides are friendly and really know their stuff. They tell really engaging stories about lives of native Hawaiians and Hawaiians now and how Hawaii has changed over the years. I gained a lot of interesting information here. Hope to visit this place again! Mahalo :)

Barde Todd

After several trips to Honolulu, we finally made to the Bishop. Sorry we waited so long to take in this extremely well done museum which has been around for an astonishingly long time. The exhibits and information provided are worth of multiple visits. We were barely able to scratch the surface, but enjoyed our time immensely. We started with a short movie in the planetarium and spent the rest of our time in the main building. The artifacts, natural history exhibits, reconstructed village, artwork, etc. all were fascinating. I cannot recommend this museum enough. If you have any interest in the history of Hawaii, this is a MUST SEE.

Jeffrey Bohler

Great museum to learn about the Hawaiian Culture! Get there early because you need a lot of time to look at each artifact and read the history on it. There is also a planeterium that has different shows throughout the day, another building that's great for children with hands on activities and a volcano!

Cameron McHenry

I loved coming here to learn about Polynesian culture. The amount of information here is amazing and you can easily spend almost the entire day exploring it. If you love history, then this is the place for you.

Luke Haugh

Fantastic museum that showed some really interesting history to Hawaii. I had struggled to find a proper account of life before western arrival elsewhere and this hit the spot with great artifacts to look at too.

Rebekah Sheppard

Absolutely wonderful! It's like a cultural immersion. I really learned a lot about the history of the state I lived and worked in, and called home for 6 years.

Diane Schlicht

So much to see and learn here. Allow the better part of a day and you still won't see it all.

Anna R

A great museum whether you have kids or not. Very well maintained with a lot of different exhibits to see. Quiet and cold, it's a great relief to come here on very hot days. They also have a great science center that has a lot for kids to explore.

S smith

I bought the planetarium ticket online for the kid's show and was very disappointed to find out that you must buy the general admission ticket in order to see just the planetarium (if that's what you were going for like myself). So it cost $30 (and that was the military rate) to see a 25 minute show. If you are expecting a huge planetarium with reclining seats, etc.. you're mistaken. Seats don't recline and the planetarium is pretty small. I'm sure it was a good show, but I couldn't tell you because my 2 year old ran out screaming 3 min into the showing. The only good part about the day is we luckily got our money back.

Jason Castillo

Very cool museum. Lors of hawaiian history and science exhibits. The making lava show was great.

Alexander Ellard

It was very cool experience, part science museum and part history museum. Twice a day they melt rock into lava and pour it out to show you what it looks like. The bishop museum shows a majority of Hawaiian history and artifacts.

Yeshaya Amichai

Blew my mind and shifted my world view. For anyone interested in Hawaiian and Pacific Island culture it is a required stop. It was very powerful for me.

Tan Kai Ren

It is a very educational museum with a wealth of collection. The exhibits are maintained in good shape. There are a diverse content for everyone covering culture, arts, history, science and society. There are definitely something for everyone.Remember to join their guided tour and special programmes (additional payment needed).

Karissa Keith

Very nice, well kept museum. Beautiful exhibits showing the history of Hawaii. Highly recommend one of the Planetary shows, they're fabulous!

Nadine Tom

If you love history and Hawaii... you need to visit the Bishop Museum. We did not know what to expect, but when we arrived... we were surprised at the beauty of the exhibits and how vast the grounds were. The original building, built by Mr. Bishop for his wife, is gorgeous!

Elizabeth Warren

Very educational and interesting. I really liked the videos in the museum and the planetarium as well as the artifacts. The garden really needs tending, but the rest of the exhibits were well kept. I would go back again to take it all in but I would skip the garden.

Justin Williams

Concert was awesome. Big mma fan and got to see Max Holloway with his family

Kalina Anastassova

My kids are both fascinated by volcanoes so we visit the museum often. The one time entrance fee is quite pricey so.id definitely recommend the membership. If you purchase it there week before Thanksgiving you can get it at a discount (about $20 less than the normal price)

Sheila M Young

Great way to get an overview of the island's history and the culture s. The building is amazing inside and out.

yt89451

Allow a day or more! So much history excellent geography marvelous environment. Excellent paintings and you probably can't get through it in one day. Highly recommended!!!!!

Robert Evans

Nice museum with lots to see. We were disappointed at the ticket cost. The price was compounded by the fact that they no longer take AAA. The prices in the gift shop were priced so high that I think they must really like the items and they do not want to part with them.

Jan Relacion

Sometimes concerts are held here. At this event they had food trucks and 2 stages of live music on a Friday night! From what I understand, some proceeds go to Bishop Museum. Or just come check out the Bishop Museum.

Thom Nelson

A multi-building Gem in Honolulu that showcases Hawaii's history. They have a tremendous amount of artifacts that show what it was like to be a Hawaiian before Captain Cook showed up all the way up to the time when Hawaii became the 50th state. This is a great place to visit if you love history. It also has a great active science experience for the whole family. You even get to watch how lava is made.

Kerry Mews

Love this place, tells of the days my Ohana Governed the Islands from Kamehameha I to Queen Liliuokalani! Love the Kahili Room!

Warren Naai

Cool Lego display going on now: July 2019.

Cristina Starr

Some stuff was interesting, but not as informative as I would have liked. It was hard to get proper explanation on the items displayed as it wasn't organized very well or didn't give an in-depth description. The planetarium video presentation was the best part.

Kelsey Chow

A decent museum to learn more about the history of Hawaii and Polynesian culture. It was a good place to wander around on a rainy day. We missed all the Planetarium shows (an additional cost above regular ticket entry fee) so that was a bit disappointing. Parking is $5 at a pay machine. I would say it was interesting but I don't feel inspired to revisit it again.

Marcia Cook

The Bishop Museum has great artifacts and is in beautiful buildings. We loved the current Rapa Nui exhibit on right now, as well as the permanent exhibits about the traditional Hawaiian way of life. We also loved the information about the dispersion of people throughout the South Pacific. The ceremonial robes of the past Kings were very interesting as well, though the history of royalty definitely proves the truism that history is written by the victors.

guy domett

A very beautiful complex and the main building is laid out very well. We are not into museums that much but would have liked to have learnt more about Hawaii 1900 - 1970s. The rest of the buildings seemed to be for children rather than adults.

Logan Huffstetler

Very informative, great facility and great exhibits. Great to get away from the tourist scene. Educational and fun!

Michael Smith

The best part was the kids science building.

Kyle Lovett

An amazing, well-curated array of artifacts from Hawaii and the Pacific Islands! Intelligent, knowledgeable docents. Self-guided audio tours. Can't even see it all in one day!

Mr. B Unkown

Lots to do and great if your visiting and you have a red eye flight like we did!!! Loved this place. Its not free, but nothing is this day in age.

Neil Brosnahan

Great experience! Most complete collection of Hawaiian cultural items. Will definitely come again in the future!

Brian Moyer

A must see if you're interested in Hawaii history and cultural, natural resources. I would do this first as it creates a great backdrop to everything else you will see and do

GERRY Hernandez

Great Place Need a Day to pace and don't miss anything

Caitlyn Cline

Wish we could have stayed longer! Everything was beautiful and so informative!

Charles Naut

This museum is full of tons of Polynesian history and artifacts. Give yourself lots of time if you really want to go deep on all that it has to offer. I personally learned a lot about Hawaii, Polynesia, and the history of migration in the region.

Dawn Quintana

Beautiful museum, lots of information but could have used more direction or guidance on how to tour or where to begin. We felt kind of lost but still learned things.

Paul Roman

Great place to experience Hawiann history, and also great live lava show is great.

Christopher Keys

A Fantastic history of Hawaii, preserved in an understandable and accessable manner.

Matti Smith

Wonderful museum about the whole Oceania area. The displays area well laid out, informative and beautiful. The building may seem small there is a tremendous amount floor space so be prepared to spend all day there. There are three buildings to see and only saw two and the planetarium in 5 hours. The cafe was a pleasant surprise, the food was good and plentiful, wife and I could have split a meal.

christine Pavlick

Great place to take 3-4 hours to learn about the local and surrounding areas. Planetarium was 110% worth it! Lava show presentation was informational for all ages. Great for couples and families.

Lana Jacobs

The Bishop Museum has great artifacts and is in beautiful buildings. We loved the current Rapa Nui exhibit on right now, as well as the permanent exhibits about the traditional Hawaiian way of life. We also loved the information about the dispersion of people throughout the South Pacific. The ceremonial robes of the past Kings were very interesting as well, though the history of royalty definitely proves the truism that history is written by the victors.

James Beltran

This was one of the best museums I have ever visited in general not just Hawaii. There are a lot of exhibits, presentations, and artifacts. There is even a planetarium here(cost a bit extra but worth it). You will learn about Hawaii as an island and about the first people who settle here.

kate bukowski

Great misesum. We spent 6 hours there. Great for our 3 and 5 year old as well as adults.

James Fields

Our experience at the museum was delightful. The Lego exhibit was beyond compression. The staff, from front desk staff to security to docets were knowlegable, friendly and helpful. We were only able to scratch the surface of what this institution has to offer in the four hours that we visited.

Daniel White

Quiet and cold, it's a great relief to come here on very hot days. They also have a great science center that has a lot for kids to explore.

Stf Scw

Very interesting museum about vulcans and the Polynesian culture. Parking costs 5USD and entrance for adult another 25USD, but it is worth the money. It would have been good to know that there is an App who explains more, so that you could have downloaded it before arrival.

Hai Martin

Whether you are a parent trying to find an educational daytime activity for children, an museum and science buff, or just a 24 year old couple looking for an activity when you don't have work, The Bishop Museum is a great place to spend a day in Honolulu. This museum is like a bunch of smaller museums clumped into one. The exhibits are all so different that they could be found at a number of different locations. Luckily they are all found together for a great experience. The numerous categories include history, art, natural sciences (animals, geography, astronomy), sports, and Hawaiian. The many hours of entertainment that can be had at this museum really makes for an enjoyable day. I highly recommend The Bishop Museum.

Osirus Rhombus

I love going here, yes somethings probably do need to get updated but it's enrichment for my whole family! My family and I fully support and enjoy the Bishop museum! They bring culture and art into our lives!

oldschoolcivic

I don’t know why I never went before but I’m glad I went. You could easily spend half a day here. The exhibits are amazing and Hawaiian hall is a must visit for all Hawaiians and Hawaiians at heart.

randy peiffer

If you are interested in Hawaiian history, this is a must visit. A very enjoyable experience.

Stanley Backlund

Kind of expensive for what you get, but the architecture is gorgeous. They have a lego exhibit right now which is great for kids and adults. The actual polynesian part is pretty fun experience: it is three stories in a gorgeous 1800's style building. Not a super busy place, worth a visit. Loses a star just because every little thing cost money including parking and seperate exhibits

Angel Kamaka

Could spend a whole week in this museum learning Hawaiian culture. So many great things to see and experience

Natalah Baldwin

Wow! So much history to learn. We only had a couple of hours so we didnt see it all. I think you could spend days here and not see it all. Catch the planetarium show. Its excellent.

Rachel Zumba Anderson

This place is beautiful. It will take a good amount of time to walk all 3 buildings. They have shows but we only saw the Hot Spot, volcano one, nice and short (20 minutes) and kids would love it! The rest of the museum is no touch zone. It would be boring for small kids but a great educational experience to know anything you want to know about Hawaii history. How many islands are actually a part of Hawaii??? Go to the volcano show to find out.

דוד פילזר

Very good tour with excellent guide who was enthusiastic and added alot to the experience.

Malia Cordel

Great exhibits on Hawaiian history. Check to see if any special exhibits are on.

Theo Wu

Very cool place with many exhibits showcasing Hawaiian culture, and history. Also includes an exhibit dedicated to the science and geography of Hawaii. Downside is half of the exhibits require additional fees. The parking is unclear if free or not. Nice place to spend an afternoon. There is a place to eat here but I didn't go inside.

Bartek Radzimski

Absolutely a wonderful museum with detailed & interactive explanations about the Oceanian Culture & it’s development. The main buildings of the museum are absolutely wonderfully preserved & a rarity!!! Highly recommend it!!! Plan at least half a day or you will regret it!!! ;-)

sandra shephed

Beautifully presented museum. Well worth the visit. You need a lot of time to see everything. There is a cafe onsite that is reasonably priced. Easy to get there! Take the NO2 The bus and a short walk.

Miguel

Very interesting place. Definitely come here if you wanna know more about Hawaiian culture. A very well preserved museum and a beautiful building all around. Worth the admission price if you like museums.

Roger Zhou

Interesting Hawaiian history museum with a few good exhibits. If you have the chance, you should try to go on one of the narrated tours with one of the museum’s knowledgeable staff. The placards themselves aren’t very interesting or informative by themselves.

Michael Sarrafian

If you love history you will certainly enjoy the Bishop museum. Lots of interesting artifacts of the Hawaiian and Polynesian culture. The docents are very friendly and informative. I would recommend anyone who visits or lives on the island see the place.

Luke Woolley

Simply wonderful museum featuring Hawaiian history, volcano science, local zoology, and even some astronomy! The old museum building, "Hawaiian Hall," is gorgeous and has one of the best themes/layouts I've seen in a cultural history museum.

kimo napolitano

Thankful all the rare items and history have a home were people from all 4 corners of the world can come see the magnificent displays

Kate Smallidge

Loved this experience! My three year old had a hard time during the movie so decide if that’s a necessary part. He loved the history of lava and seeing how it forms. Incredibly hands on. You pay for parking at the meter in front so grab your license plate number or you have to run back to it. Picture perfect scenery too.

Deb G

Wow. A must see museum to know about the history of the Hawaiian Monarchy, a science center, Lego room and neat gift shop.

Kristin Murphy

Mahalos to the wonderful people who share their history and culture so willingly. I could spend all day here just soaking in the knowledge in such a beautifully maintained environment. Staff is SUPER nice!!! You dont wanna miss this!

Ken Gee

The science hall room was my favourite section of the museum! The exploding volcano was very fascinating and the land slide and tsunami examples were very creative and fun to watch! This museum is very good to visit with kids because there is a slide in the volcano :)

Venus

If you want to really learn the history & culture of the Hawaiian Islands, I suggest plan a whole day here. You'll take a trip back in time... relive the beginning as it's beautifully told throughout this museum. The wood work is stunning. Artifacts amazing. The tribute to the royal family bloodline breaks down in chronological order up to the overthrown from the United States. The Planetarium also a enriching experience. I can't think of not suggesting anyone to visit here. I brought my 1st Ukelele

Ten Schippnick

So much history.. so beautiful and sad. I love it. Will come back soon.

Tony Liese

One of my favorite museums. So much to learn about Hawaiian history. Beautiful building too.

Terri Simms

Needed more time for our first visit! Wish we lived on island so we could go more often! The grandkids loved the Lego exhibition; especially the Titanic! 550 lbs and 220,000 pieces - whew, can't imagine! So much to see and do; check it out!

Richard Elledge

I highly recommend this museum. I felt like I didn't have enough time in the day to explore all it had to offer. There are so many exhibits served up with such a beautiful backdrop, you'll never want to leave.

Parvathi Shalov

So much to see! The free guided tour was excellent. Leave plenty of time to wander through all the buildings.

Anita Kurialacherry

Such rich history! You may need 2-3 hours for this place. Made me fall in love with the Polynesian island and wanting to learn more

Reis Mckee

Remodel work is amazing. I had a Really really great experience

Deveney Mckelvey

Awesome museum learned a lot about Hawaiian culture! Definitely recommend

Susan Napper

Amazing museum that is a must see for visitors to Oahu who want to get to know the history and heritage of Hawaii

Jennifer Nakamura

i love this place, and have loved it since I was a kid. great place to learn about Hawaii's history, polynesia and science, related to the islands. they also have special exhibits that change throughout the year and special community events on the great lawn, throughout the year!

Norma Rogers

Building: the Museum is housed in historic buildings reflecting traditional Hawaiian building materials in a European design. The wood inside the building is gorgeous. That alone is worth the visit.Museum: Organized in two main sections. One is focused on Polynesian history and migration in the pacific islands. The other is on Hawaiian history and its monarchs.Planetarium: two different shows currently. One of the current Hawaiian night sky and the other on how native Islanders navigated by the Stars. It’s not an actual telescope so images are digital or film. But you get a live presenter who talks you through what you’re seeing and has live interactions. Surprisingly well done.We planned an hour there, ended up spending 2 hrs (including the planetarium) and didn’t finish seeing everything. We got the membership to support the museum, so can come back for free. Membership also gets you 20% Discount at the museum store, which has a lovely collection local handicrafts, and the usual kitschy souvenir. We enjoyed it a lot, but maybe a little dry for kids.

Michelle Lawson

If you are looking for a good kid's museum, I'd look elsewhere. The regular kid's science building didn't have A/C and it was miserable (I believe this is it's regular state since it didn't the last time we went as well). The science building has some cool pieces and is interactive, but it's still lacking and takes about 30 minutes to get bored. We liked this museum before because they had a very interactive special exhibit (Dora the Explorer) for a while, but since then we haven't been impressed with any of the others. AND the special exhibits aren't even part of regular admission, you have to pay extra. Our last visit was during the Lego exhibit and it was literally just looking at lego objects in cases... they had a small place to play with them at the end but they weren't the kind suitable for toddlers. The shows are also an extra fee and we haven't risked having to walk out because our 4 year old isn't enjoying it. They also have a pretty high admission price for 4 - 7 year olds, when I believe the museum is probably best for 8+. But the Adult museum area is beautiful with some great artifacts and interesting exhibits. So I wouldn't waste your time here for toddlers, go to the Discovery Center if you want your child to be able to touch and play for more than 30 minutes.

Carol Bork

Always a nice stop. Beautiful grounds. A Hui Hou

Lu Tim

Very pleasant visit. This is one of kind Museum. Historical building with many educational exhibition. Even a volcano model and formation of it. Good to bring whole family over. If you coming from Canada, make sure you have Telus world of science membership card with you for the whole family and show at entrance, then your visit is free. Cheers

billy Legrand

IT'S where you can SEE the old Gods, and WAY of life before WE found the Holies, white people to YOU. Who stole the Kingdom of Hawaii. Love IT Always !!!

Farris King

The Bishop Museum has great artifacts and is in beautiful buildings. We loved the current Rapa Nui exhibit on right now, as well as the permanent exhibits about the traditional Hawaiian way of life. We also loved the information about the dispersion of people throughout the South Pacific. The ceremonial robes of the past Kings were very interesting as well, though the history of royalty definitely proves the truism that history is written by the victors.

Bryan Doyon

An excellent place to learn more about the history and culture of Hawaii and its people. You can easily spend 3-4 hours here and still not see everything they have on display. Well worth the admission price and a great experience.

Holly R

The Bishop is an absolutely beautiful museum. It's well laid out in the most gorgeous buildings, all air conditioned. The displays themselves are easy to read, and informative. You could easily spend 2 hours here, if you went through everything. This museum is probably best suited for children over the age of 10, but littler ones might enjoy the planetarium. And for people with mobility issues there is elevator access to all levels, as well as lots of places to sit down. I didn't give 5 stars as unfortunately it costs $5 for parking, and on top of the entry fee of $25 for an adult that's a little much.

Michael Casey

Very informative. The planetarium show was especially informative, as it explained much about navigation of the stars.

Robert Smith

A fantastic experience to learn all about Hawaiian history! Explore the planetarium, the science building and the Lego exhibit (while it's here on tour).
