REVIEWS OF Battleship Missouri Memorial IN Hawaii

Denney Rowcliffe

The ship and the volunteers are amazing. We Americans take for granted what and how our servicemen live. I wouldn't last 48hrs on a naval ship. Tip, buy your tickets online and go direct to shuttle (which is inside the fence). It's a very interesting tour of the Battleship Missouri also knows as Mighty Mo. Whether you're a history buff or not, it's a beautiful reminder that peace can still be achieved.

Robbie Erickson

Very cool experience for my 10 year old daughter and myself. It was fun to walk around and experience while learning about the history of the Missouri.

Phil SHEEHAN

Brilliant! Whatever you do, you must take at least the 35 min guided tour. A great attraction.

Darren Hurst

A very informative and educational visit as you take a guided tour by a very knowledgeable guide for 35 mins and are then left to freely roam the ship and all decks with plenty of information and details throughout.

Grant Durga

Great museum. Tour guides are very knowledgeable. They offer at least English and Japanese tours. Not sure if there are other languages available, but those two for sure. You are in the sun quite a bit, so plan for that.

Dan Williams

Absolutely awesome, I wish I had more than 2 hours to spend here.

Chip Fox

Great history on this ship. Renovations are on going but great to see and hear the stories. Interesting place to go.

Christine Layson

Everyone should go at least once in a lifetime. Words cannot express the overwhelming feeling you have standing on the memorial

Jennifer Nolen

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our time aboard the USS Missouri! First of all, the tour was very informative and just the right length. We learned the basics of the ship and the significance of what happened there. Secondly, we loved the freedom to explore the ship. Below deck is self-guided. There's a maze of rooms to explore. We had a blast. You can easily spend several hours here and there are plenty of picture opportunities. If you have kids and are in the area, this is a great option. They'll learn a lot and have a blast. Absolutely with the price of admission. You have to take a bus to get to the Mighty MO, but they have restrooms, drinks, and a gift shop over there.

Chad Koehn

Incredible to see and experience where WWII came to an end. Very good place to bring kids to understand more about history. Was also neat to see the different pieces from WWII era as well as Desert Storm. To be able to stand and take in the history is a great experience.

Hector Santos

The last of the great battleships in our US Navy. Fantastic ship, worth every penny. One can see the spot where declaration of peace between Japan and the United States was signed. The Victory Japan signing spot, or one can say the VJ signing location. The USS Missouri or "Mighty Morning" as it is affectionately called, does also have the distinction of being the only battleship that was commissioned back into service for Desert Shield/Storm, aka, the first Iraq war in 1990. This vessel was fitted with the state of the art tomahawk missiles. I highly recommend this historical attraction to anyone.

Robin Merriman

Not enough time to really explore. Need to come back but next time use a rental car so we have the comfort of taking our time to enjoy all there is to see.

Andrew Simpson

Pretty amazing! We didn't a chance to get over to the Missouri as we ran out of time. But we got to see if from Pearl Harbor Memorial.

Justice Callander

So much fun. I would recommend the guided tour that's on the boat if you find history interesting. As soon as you walk up to the boat you know your money to see it was worth it

Randy Rodrigues

This truly is a historical ship. Took below decks tour with my son. Very comprehensive information on the ship, the sailors duties, it's history, and its place in the ending of WWII.

David Syracuse

A great and well-managed historical experience. The tour guides are helpful and knowledgable, and the park is clean and well-maintained. Please look at the guide on Google to see when the park is busy to help you plan your day. The cost of admission is $29 per adult, which includes your admission to the ship and bus transportation from the visitor's center. Busses run every 10 minutes or so. There are lots of other tours available for an additional fee.

christopher weber

A great experience for me and my family. You can see the USS Arizona from the USS Missouri's deck. The Arizona represents the US entry into WW2 and the Missouri is where the Japanese surrendered and ended WW2. Lots of areas to explore in the ship. This ship has a lot of history. Worth our time and I hope yours too.

Cristián Navarrete Dechent

The end of WW2 happened (Japanese surrender) happened on the deck of this warship. So many histories in every corner of the ship. You cannot miss this tour.

Ray Restel

Really enjoyed visiting the Battleship Missouri, absolutely massive battleship with huge guns. We had a world war two veteran show us around. Amazing history. This is a must if you are in Hawaii on holiday, get yourself on a tour and don't miss this world attraction.

Timothy Casteel

Would have been better of you could have seen more of the ship. Has a great view of the Arizona Memorial

Matthew Lomas

Wow, some history here. The Japanese surrender was signed on the deck of this amazing battleship on September 2nd 1945.

Nina Peters

The tour guide was super knowledgable and brought the history to life! The tour was enlightening with visuals of ship life.

Chris Stevens

I could have spent all day here will have to come back for sure. Great to be able to wander about in such a magnificent piece of history. Tour guides are great.

Frances Holland

The Mighty Mo is a must see when in Oahu and Pearl Harbor. Even if you are not a history lover you need to see this. Remember don't bring your purse or backpack as you will have to leave it behind. We had this visit included in our Pearl Harbor pass ticket and therefore were able to go here at any time during our day visit. We opted to attend one of the many free tours that were offered. It's funny how much I already knew about the history of the battle ship but also surprised of how much I still learned. Worth a visit.

Gabriel Partain

Well worth it. The staff are super friendly helpful and knowledgeable. It is a living history. And being on it as oppose to just viewing it is a somber awe-inspiring experience. A must do.

Charlie Rocafort

Epic! Be aboard the Battleship Missouri and learn it's history. Tour guides engage you with stories of its past. Tour the inside and out. Amazing memorial!

Plain Me

I really enjoyed the amount of space available to view and walk through. There are plenty of people to help on the tour of the ship and enhance the experience. Kudos to the Staff.

David Wolstenholme

Visiting the mighty mo was a very interesting experience. We took the 35 minutes guided tour which explains a couple of things about some aspects of the boat such as it's history, it's cannons and more. The best part in my opinion was seeing the place where world war two ended. The boat is vast plan for at least two hours plus the time you need to actually get here from the ticketing station (another 15 minutes). If you want to do the Missouri and the aviation museum it will set you back about 52$ just the Missouri is 29$. You can buy some souvenirs at the Missouri.

Tina Fugate

This was an awesome tour!! Even with the construction going on, we had a great time, touring it on our own. They also have guides tours, but we prefer doing it on our own and being able to go at our own pace. There are plaques and markers along the way so we were able to read about each area. I suggest taking a bottle of water as they have water stations on board. They have drinks for sale but $5.50 for a Monster is outrageous in my opinion.

El Mesteño Ranch - Camille Marie

What an honor and privilege to be able to board this integral piece of our Country's history. All of the Tour Guides were so knowledgable and welcoming. They did an outstanding job of relaying the historical, factual, and statistical data about this Vessel. What an experience of a lifetime!

liz barrington

A very significant part in history. The guided tour brings it home but the walk around the ship by yourself is extremely interesting too. Recommended!

Keiko H

Take the tour then walk around in your own. Don't forget the upper deck!! The commemorative photo is fun!

geoff bromfield

Amazing! The tour lasts about 20 min. They have docents & I hooked up with that . A complete up & down tour!

Jessica Sepulveda

Do not miss this tour! Take the guided tour on the upper deck, they are so knowledgeable and you’ll learn so much! Tour the decks below which are surprisingly roomy and rich with history. The atmosphere just outside is nostalgic with signage and seating. There’s also a food truck!

Daunavan Buyer

This was a moving and special experience! Exploring the ship and seeing what life was like for the men there was something I’ll never forget. The highlight was standing at the point where world war 2 ended! Amazing

Phillip Lane

Very somber place to visit make you think of those men who died to keep us safe.... But will mankind learn form the world wars we have all ready fort.

eric sorensen

Loved it!!!!!!!!! Very impressive. Highly recommend. Please for the love of God, just show respect and don't do dumb pictures or poses. This is a place of reverence and deserves to be respected.

RVL V.

Great staff!!! A must visit to reinforce ur pearl harbor and military history of the great battleships

ASBUILT Drawings

Very moving place. Great layout. Take snacks with you as not a huge selection to have lunch

Barry Maltese

The Mighty Mo was a great place to visit. Many parts were wheelchair accessible, and the guided tour showed us just where the treaty with Japan was actually signed - not to mention some other facts that were not bragged about in the history books. I actually stood in the same place that the war officially ended with japan. Right on the very spot that the signatures were inscribed. . . . what a feeling it gave me.

Michael Szczech

Beautiful ship with much history around it. Wish we had more time to examine everything, but we had to catch a flight.

Nieves Sanchez

This is a MUST. You should visit the boat, it is an interesting place and this is a museum itself. Help you to learn and understand the story that happened there. I would really like to come back and spend more time, I also suggest you to go without any excursions since there are too many things to see and I recommend you to visit it at your pace.

Brandietta

You could spend half a day on this ship. Worth every penny! You get to stand where the Japanese surrendered. Exploring the ship was fun. You get to see where A plane crashed into her side and see how the guys lived. Super cool experience

Graham Wilmott

See where WW2 ended. A very informative (but short) guided tour of the top deck helps show a few key places. However, it is the lower decks which are full of very interesting information. And the lower decks have air conditioning! As always with these places, you get out more if you spend some time reading the displays, looking at the exhibits, etc. But invest a little and you will gain a lot.

Janet Jenkins

Excellent tour with lots of informative facts. A must see attraction well worth the price.

William Minnihan

This place is AWESOME! It's in AMAZING condition. Being on this ship feels genuine and real. The boat has been very well maintained. My family and I had a great time while exploring this Battle Ship!!!!!!

Philip Mondy

Every time I pass by this ship, I'm always in awe of how cool it is. How big the cannons are or how complex the whole system is. Highly recommend doing this, it's a humbling experience to say the least.

pbandj37

An awesome memorial to the US Armed Forces. Take a guided or unguided tour, your choice, but make sure you see the place where a war that killed an estimated 60 million people ended. There are tour guides to walk you through and along the self guided tour to answer questions. Tours are on the main deck and also the deck below. Be careful and mind your knees and head. As with any naval ship, things are tight and cramped so bumping into things is common. Prices are $27 per adult, cannot remember kid prices though. Gift shop, food trucks and more are on premises too. In late June and July 4th weekend, there are also picnics with discounted admission ($15 per adult, $10 per kid day of, but $10 per adult and $5 per kid if you buy in advance). You can bring your own food or hit up one of the food trucks, with a hands on exhibit and Lego play area.

Claudette Smith

A must see! We went on the 4th of July for the entire day! Even stuck around for the fireworks which was a once in a life time experience. Heads up though, you cannot take any bags on the ship they will make you leave them unattended on the pier. Also, be sure to get there early for a decent spot if going to view fireworks. Our tour guide was amazing during the day!

Jason Yue

It was actually a surreal experience. I've never been on a ship before, which made this even more special. I was on a tour and got to explore most of the ship. Definitely does not seem like a comfortable place to live in, but definitely a great place to tour for a day (of course). One thing though, the stairs are almost vertical.

Donald Hogan

The tour would be better if more of the ship was available to view. Such as inside the tourettes, or down into the powder room. But it was still very exciting to tour the ship

Shaun Gardner

Interesting place, you can imagine what it was like with the decks full of sailors witnessing the formal surrender in Tokyo bay. You can spend a couple of hours exploring below deck and above deck. Entry includes a guided tour asking the deck

David Liscumb

Incredible to think that this ship, is about half the size of a modern cruise ship. Great tour, either self guided or in a group.

Julia A. Melzer

Our tour guide Uncle Andy was great. He took us on an extended tour and gave us a detailed account of the ship and all her beauty. Super knowledgeable and friendly. After we took the normal tour and received further information which was a perfect fit for Memorial Day.

L Konzc

Excellent displays at this historic and important site. Staff friendly and accommodating, thank you!

Jaime Knutson

If you are interested in learning about the history in Hawaii this is a great place to go. I went with a school group which meant there were over 60 people to accommodate in my group and they did an excellent job of doing so. We were divided into groups of around 20 and each group was taken by a tour guide. My guide was super friendly and even brought a lot of humor to his discussion which I appreciated a lot. Despite only having around 10 minutes until the ship closed for the day, he managed to teach us a lot about what the ship went through in the war. The guides were punctual with their time and overall very entertaining. It was also nice to simply explore the ship itself. It is a lovely tourist shop that I would recommend visiting.

Aaron Klatt

This place is big. Be prepared to do a lot of walking if you decide to visit this ship on your trip to Pearl Harbor. The exhibits and rooms below the deck are mostly self guided and get a bit repetitive towards the end, but the tour guides who tell the history of the ship on the deck are fantastic at what they do and make history entertaining.

Ragni Chand

This was a very nice tour. Loved the historical value of this memorial. Learned so much. I recommend visiting the Battleship while visiting Ohau.

Matt Thompson

As a sailor, it was nice to be aboard such a historically significant ship. What a treat! Our guide Dom was FANTASTIC.

Nic Peters

My Boy Scout Troop did the encampment overnight stay on Mighty Mo and they take great care of you. Sleep on actual crew bunks, take afternoon and night tours, and eat in the crew galley. Great program and they have tours that are interesting for all age groups. They even let us retrieve the colors off the fantail of the ship, and raise them the next morning. I encourage all scouts to apply for this opportunity. The staff were extremely knowledgeable of all things Battleship Missouri.

Luca Cole

Love it! It's just such an honor to be able to walk the decks of the Missouri and learn the history. I will do it again if I ever get the chance just to support the preservation of this unique piece of history. Come here if you ever get the chance and learn about those who gave their lives. Honor their memory.

Daniel White

Take the guided tour on the upper deck, they are so knowledgeable and you’ll learn so much! Tour the decks below which are surprisingly roomy and rich with history. The atmosphere just outside is nostalgic with signage and seating. There’s also a food truck!

NoThankYou VeryMuch

The Mighty Mo, keeping guard over her sister ship. The energy is palpable in the waters surrounding Pearl City. The Arizona is the main attraction here, however look around at everything this National monument has to offer. You can feel the history here! Please like this review. It is my most viewed

Nick Wendrych

Very cool must see if you can make it on base. USS Missouri is considered one of the most famous ships in the world, very well maintained, you will see various military ceremonies held here daily because of its storied past. Great place to bring the kids to learn about Pearl Harbor or WWII. Also a great place to entertain your grandpa for 2-4 hours before he needs to take a nap.

Neal. Nayer Mahmoud

Must see if you are visiting Hawaii. The boat ride over is amazing. The actual memorial itself can be a little crowded but it's very well maintained.

Joshua Johnson

Such an amazing part of history! This ship and the stories of the men and women who have served aboard her are breathtaking. She has seen many battles and been through multiple wars and still exists today to teach the masses about the sacrifices made in the past to provide us the peace we experience in the present. You simply MUST visit her and learn her story.

Branden Brown

Really interesting place. We did the FREE guided tour with Toby. He actually served on the boat in WWII. I would recommend you try to get him if you can. Amazing place to explore and see. There's so much history on that boat.

Jeanne Pearia

This battleship is an absolute must! Who wouldn't want to see the site that formally ended WWII? It is also very humbling to hear her bittersweet story, and to see her final resting place, looking over the Arizona Memorial.

Walter Catledge

I enjoyed my tour of pearl harbor and the actual ship tour itself. Very informative to the public. And to the service member of any branch you can relate to the experience.

Johnny Lam

One of the highlights of the trip and wrth every penny to go see. The mighty mo did not disappoint. They let you see the spot where world war 2 ended. There are "free" tours with entry and the individual that gave us a tour was amazingly knowledgeable. Tourists can go up into the bridge (if you want to climb the ladders/stairs) or down a deck to see some of the crew cabins etc. Great bit of history for the last battleship to serve the fleet

Christina Lindsey

What a great experience!! You can soedn all day just on this ship!!! The vendors with the shave ice make for a nice break of this isn't your first stop when visiting pearl harbor. Once inside they do a fantastic job of giving you an idea of what life is really like on the ship! This was the highlight of our pearl harbor tour.

Joan Stotelo

Fantastic tour. After the initial information tour of the top deck of the ship, my husband and I toured the crew deck. The ship is massive. We kept walking from section to section and thought we were lost until we finally came to the exit stairway.

Anthony Boyd

I love exploring this ship and it’s history. Do the ‘Heart of the Missouri’ tour it is an amazing with knowledgeable guides.

Kenneth Horner

Great experience for anyone, including families. The tour is accessible, but to really get the full experience, there is a lot walking and stairs,

Rick Knoll

The ship is very large and you are able to explore most of the ship. The history of the ship is very interesting as well. Very good experience.

Michael Lloyd III

Great Site to visit for history of World War II. Tour guides were friendly and open to questions. Many of the areas were restricted so just be aware. But overall good presentation and layout and many photogenic areas. Highly recommend if want to see and review a important aspect of Naval History.

cody pyard

Very interesting tour. We did the guided tour and learned so much. Highly recommend doing that instead of just wondering around. We spent a little over an hour and a half. Wish we would of shown up earlier to have more time to go through the museum. They have a ton of really cool items to look at. Inside the ship they have it so you can see how people certain peoples rooms were set up. I have been on a battle ship before, but this one was bigger and the history behind it is extremely interesting.

Julie Perry

Very informative tour given by a friendly guide. Nice gift shop and a place to stop for a quick lunch or snack. They also have Shave Ice at one of the stands on the dock in front of the battleship.

Eddie Olliver

Amazing to be able to get up and close with such a significant piece of history. From being on the bow to the bridge and many parts below deck was a great experience. Couldn’t recommend this any higher on the must do list in Honolulu.

Hai Martin

I remember in 2002 when I was here and the Missouri had just arrived. It taunted me from across the harbor as I was not able to tour it, yet. I finally made it this week and it was awesome. If you enjoy history, or just machinery, I strongly recommend the Battlestations Tour. It cost $25.00 more than the basic tour, but is well worth it. You get to visit many locations not open to the public, nor the regular 30 minute tour. Probably the best is going inside one of the massive turrets and climbing into the various duty positions. There are many ladderwells to climb up and down, and a great deal of walking. It is advertised as 90 minutes, but ours lasted over two hours because I kept asking questions [which is encouraged]. My wife wasn't as happy about the extra time!

Viktorija Prokofjeva

Really cool place to visit. Recommend getting Oahu Card to visit us many places as you can for as little money as possible. Didn’t have problem navigating around. Lovely guides work there.

Landon Jobe

Excellent experience. Definitely recommend the "Heart of Missouri" tour. We got lucky enough to get a small 5-person group, allowing our guide to focus more on the education and Q&As. Just bring Sunscreen for when you are on-deck. Preferably the kind you can fit into your pocket.

Kevin Runci

Spectacular. It was me and my wife's first time checking out the Missouri. The tour guide we had was knowledgeable and sweet. After we did the guided tour, we got to walk around below deck and check out the living areas and different rooms and compartments. Checking out a part of history, where World War 2 ended was also amazing. I highly recommend checking it out when you come to Pearl Harbor.

Jordan Henrickson

This was my first time in Honolulu and going to Pearl Harbor was a must. We bought the Pearl Harbor Passport which included the USS Bowfin, USS Missouri, Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum, and USS Arizona all in one. They offered a military discount, for any of you active/NG/retired service members. Battleship Missouri was a must! You were able to take bus (included in the passport) over to the Missouri and spend as long as you wanted there. The staff gave a quick safety brief and then you were able to take a guided or self-guided tour at your own pace, up a few tiers, to see everything. You can see the exact point where the Japanese surrender took place and the actual signed documents, which was a great area for taking pictures! Overall, I highly recommend Battleship Missouri if you are in Honolulu!

Matthew White

Fantastic experience, one you have to see. Walking around this massive Battleship and taking in its history is not too be missed... So much to learn and appreciate.

steve benyon

Absolutely fantastic to walk around a battleship and understand how our brave soldiers lived whilst protecting our countries

Claire F.

We visited this memorial site using our Go Oahu card that was purchased from Costco. A great guided tour was included at the beginning (about 20 - 30 minutes) and you would have an opportunity to walk around on your own afterwards. We enjoyed seeing and hearing about all the historic events ever happened on board. I definitely would recommend visiting this place.

Theo Wu

Very cool and historical place to spend the day. A shuttle bus takes you to the Missouri from the Pearl harbor visitor center. I bought the generic entry ticket and had a blast. The free guided tours take about 35 mins and provide interesting facts about the history of the Missouri. Wonderful place to take pictures, both inside and out. There are bathrooms located on the ship and food options on the pier beside the ship. I spent roughly 1.5-2 hours onboard.

Kenneth Burt

A wonderful experience. Lots of narrow steep stairs and if you are over 6' tall watch your head

M. F.

The views of the island from the ship alone are worth the trip. It is a privilege to get to see where World War II finally ended. The ship is still very well maintained. The staff that worked there giving tour had a lot of good information. There was also a gift shop and a canteen for drinks at the beginning of the tour area.

Butch Fulton Country 911

Memorial was great, leave your valuables in a secure place, or use the check baggage claim at the memorial at Pearl Harbor. Our car and 2- others were smash and grab stole a bag with valuables from my vehicle, and it was his in floor under some stuff.. Local PD and Park Rangers were very helpful..

Trip Taker

For me, this was an unexpected "like". Usually I struggle a bit with visiting sites that have to do with history...struggle with boredom to be perfectly honest. My only regret was that we didn't have more time at the Missouri battleship. We were given a short tour by one of the people that works there and that's what made me like it so much. The people who work there love their job and know how to relate what happened on this battleship in easy to understand way. I want to go again. Next time I plan on booking in advance a specialty tour that will take longer and will go into more detail the history of this great ship.

Diane Vich

Beautiful historic site at Pearl Harbor. It's amazing to see the common areas and rooms on the ship.

gazelam

This monument is a very interesting war relic as well as a testament to the valor and expertise of those who sailed on the ship. I've been on a few battleships that are on display and this one is awesome.

James Norton

Remember it closes earlier than the rest of park. Was still a great visit. Wish I would have had more time

Anthony Knight

This ship is huge! Our family had a great time touring the ship and exploring. There was so much history on that ship. I recommend this to every traveler. We did have a toddler and brought a stroller with us.... This is something that I do not recommend. Anywhere other than the main deck is pretty close quarters and was difficult to maneuver.

Veronica Kimes

Cool battleship. Great source of history. Take the guided tour! You get to hear about the events on the battleship.

Michael L. Johnson

A lot to see and learn. Connects our military history from Pearl Harbor to the surrender of the Japanese. You can go throughout the ship with out without a guide. Excellent experience IMO.

Kit Batucan

You could seriously spend an entire day exploring the Mighty Mo on your own. Dawn was our guide today and she absolutely rocked! So gutted that we only allocated an afternoon to the Missouri. Will definitely come to visit again and would recommend it wholeheartedly.

Brad J

Awesome experience. I've been here a couple times years ago and just brought my family. My three young boys loved checking out the ship, inside and out.

Sandra Lopez

Take the tour! Then explore the ship on your own. I enjoyed this very much. Friendly staff is ready to answer all your questions.

Sean Lynch

Well worth the ticket price. Don't wait too late to start--super fascinating displays... Give yourself plenty of time to explore the pathways through the ship. Awesome!

Ricky Romano

Amazing experience. Highly recommend taking a half day or so and visiting the Mighty Mo

Derek Nelson

I really enjoyed touring the Missouri. The guides do an excellent job explaining the WWII highlights of the Missouri. This includes visiting the spot where Japan officially surrendered marking the end of the war. It was fascinating walking around inside of the ship which operates much like a small city. I couldn't believe how many kitchens there were! This tour made me appreciate how massive battleships were!

Rebecca Phelps

The Battleship Missouri is HUGE! It's awesome to see the power of all the great battleship that the Navy has. The ship was very educational and it was neat to see the place where WWII ended. The staff was very kind to us on our visit considering we got there nearly before closing time. It was cool to take a step back and time and be able to appreciate the bravery, strength, and dedication that our Navy and other military members! Thank you all for your hard work and service, because of you all, we have the privileges we have today!

Dan Richardson

The history of this ship.. museum keeps it in great shape - almost looks like it could be ready to go back out in just a few weeks.

Burt Melzer

We had a great time here. We did the Heart of the Missouri tour which I highly recommend. The tour guides are amazing and very knowledgeable about the history of the ship.

Leo's Travel

Great memorial to visit. Take the guided tour, it's worth it. They provide key info of the ship as well as the historical events the ship was part of. Then rest of the tour is self guided. My kids are 6yo and 8yo and they loved it! Took the bus from the Peral Harbor visitor center and back. On the way back it stop by the aviation museum as well. We didn't do that one as the kids have seem plenty. I would say visit early so its less crowded. Wish the kids were free to enter, but I get it, someone need to pay to keep up the place. with that said, well worth the price of the tickets.
