Here you will be able to see all the reviews of people like you who bought the services of The Old State House (Tourist Attraction) in Delaware area.

As of day this business has a score of 4.6 over 5 and the rating was based on 72 reviews.

As you can see its rating is nearly the best one, and it is founded on a very high number of scores, so we may think that the valuation is very faithful. If many people have bothered to value when they've done well with the service, is that it works.

You know that we do not usually bother to place feddbacks when these are correct and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...

Stopped in for a tour and was so impressed by the young woman who gave us a tour! The building itself is magnificent, but the enthusiasm and knowledgeability of the tour guide made the experience so incredible. Tours are offered on demand as soon as you walk in, so no need to schedule a time or come in on the hour (however, the walking tour, which is separate from the state house tour, leaves on the hour). Overall I had a great time here and would recommend it to anyone! (No public restrooms in the building, but there is one available nearby at the art museum. Plenty is parking available both in front of the state house itself and on the side streets nearby.)

Beautiful. Tour guide were amazing

Wonderful 30 minute tour at a historic landmark in the heart of Dover. Friendly tour guide showed us both floors, explained displays, and shared Delaware history. No cost, and a must for our of town visitors.

They did a great job rebuilding this in 1976. The free small tour was informative. I love the stairs and they have pictures of this place after it was remodeled to a Victorian style in 1873.. The court room is on the 1st floor and former state's legislative chambers on the 2nd floor

Clare Jordan-smith

Had a tour from the most knowledgeable and interesting man I have ever meet.

Richard Gates

A beautifully restored building which used to be the seat of government in Delaware a few decades ago, as well as a court house much earlier in history. The tour guides have so much to tell you there is much more to see around the town after seeing this building. There is plenty of parking in the streets around the building.

William Kozel

Free tour around the state grounds, extremely informative with both general history and interesting antidotes.

Kathy Joseph

Pam Poglitsch

Nice to see history that might be forgotten if not for this wonderful state house.

Kirk Johnson

Well trained and informative docents, nicely restored with several cases for rotating displays of local artifacts from the 18th century to modern. Combine with a tour of the old “green”, Christ Church and Graveyard, and nearby local eateries, and you have the perfect quiet half-day trip to Colonial America without the kitsch.

Aaron A. Wallace

Another great living history site housed in the original state legislature and court house with informative guides in authentic period garb. Lovely revolutionary period portraiture, on the walls, including Delaware's life size portrait of George Washington.

Andrea Schoeny

The volunteer tour guides were kind and knowledgeable. Having visited Independence Hall in Philadelphia, this really brought the story of our country's founding together. It's amazing to stand in the place(s) where history lives! The people and families of Dover fought to have The Old State House preserved. We are fortunate for the forward-thinking people of the past. This is one of three sites in Dover (and Dover is one of seven areas) that are part of the First State National Historical Park.

Lots of history here! You can tour the building yourself, or tag along with a very talkative tour guide who might talk a bit too much and never let you see anything. But you'll learn a lot at least!

Jesper Bexkens

Nice place to visit, quite small though. Free entry.

I visited the Old State House this past weekend, and it is worth a stop if you are in town sightseeing. It is one of the few places that is open on Sundays, and the historical interpretation was very well done. The docent gave a very thorough history of Delaware from colonial times through Delaware's secession from Pennsylvania and statehood, through the ratification of the Constitution (Delaware was the first state to ratify). The first floor of the Old State House is the old colonial court. There is a beautiful set of winding staircases on both sides of the building that take you up to the second floor, where the upper and lower legislative assemblies met. On this level, there is a unique portrait of Washington that is worth seeing.

This is a tremendously interesting historical building. The fantastic tour guides were full of knowledge and resources. We really came away with a fantastic appreciation for the historical value that the old state house is in its current state as a museum. From the realistic displays to the replica setup. It was a fabulous experience for the entire group of people that we were traveling with.
