REVIEWS OF Mystic Seaport Museum IN Connecticut

It was a good daytime spend there. You could go at your own pace and see or skip anything. I liked going to the 1800s whaler ship and seeing the cabins where people used to live or the place where they processed whales. Kids had fun making wooden boats for $5 each extra. There was some activity at a small beach going on where kids would fish living things from water with a museum person. We enjoyed renting a row boat ($8 for 1/2hr or $15 for an hour) and going close to the draw bridge that opens every hour at 40 minutes. It was a good experience to watch the drawbridge open. A lot of shops set with 1800s stuff. There was story telling going on more like an act. There were other activities too. As I mentioned shops set with ancient themes and there was a shop labelled as Security and I went in to find out real security office. Oops!

Trevor Richert

Lots of small little buildings with different activities to check out. Just a fun place to explore on a nice day

Michael Ferry

This museum is well worth the trip. Each shop has a person working in it as if they came from the past. The blacksmith was pounding away on making a ring and hook for example. The hands on building to teach kids the physics of ships was well done. A real shipyard to walk around and look at was interesting. The Mayflower II is currently getting restored. To many buildings to describe. A must see.

Steve Kuker

Very cool place, allow at least 4 hours for walking around

Jonathan Griffin

So much great nautical history here. The docents are very knowledgeable and entertaining. Be sure to frequent the live demonstrations to really get your full value. The seining and whaling demos were super interesting and the figurehead exhibit was beautiful.

Monika Mikana Macrame

Been there many times and it is always a great expierience for us dont matter the age. Always something is going on and there is plenty to do for all ages. The best was for us to see real viking boat visiting thr port and making your own little wooden boats.

TRINIKING1976

Very informative and interactive. Lots to see and learn. Great for both kids and adults

Soni Avey

If you like sail boats, this is the place for you and the whole family. It's self tour so you can take your time and you will want to see everything. They give you a map and the building are all numberd, some have a staff person who can answer all your questions and give demostrations. You can go on several ships. Great place for all ages. They also have benches placed around so you can rest, several restrooms throughout and eateries.

David Kach

Careful restoration of 19th boatyard / port and its subsidiary suppliers.

Christopher Sanders

Fantastic place. So much to see and do; it even smells good, like pine tar and wood smoke.

NR Benedict

This place is absolutely spectacular. If you enjoy history which is being authentically preserved pertaining to the Sea there is nothing quite like it. Much less the shipyard where they're currently restoring Mayflower II. It's all very impressive if you like this kind of stuff...... Although it's super cold in the winter

Jennifer Serra

Great place learn something new every time I go there. Only sad note for me is that they don’t have carriage rides with the horses. REALLY MISS that.

Scott Akam

Great place if you like nautical museums.

Bonita L. Howard

We had a really great time vacationing in Connecticut and visiting the Mystic Seaport Museum that is like no other I've ever been to. There was lots of history on old boats and how people would go out to sea to catch whales. I enjoyed the shops as well and purchased a nice shawl among other items such as souvenirs.

Elizabeth Nado

Transports you away from today and let's you experience the past in all aspects of life...from work to play to family life, there are exhibits for all of it. All ages can find something to learn - from the youngest kids to the history buff there will an exhibit that makes you think.

Dilløn Hedgpeth

If you love nautical history. This is the spot. It's actually a really fun place to learn. The staff is really friendly & nice. They answer any question. I enjoy coming here.

Killeen Leonard

Amazing family experience. One of my boys favorite place to go. If your planning on visiting more then once a year (you will after the first visit) it's worth getting a family membership $149. Otherwise a family of four can run almost $110 per visit if you don't buy online before going. Lots of hands on kids activities, a whole kids building designed for children under 7, toy boat making for 4 and up. Lots of demonstrations, my boys love the skits. Crafts and boat rides are extra but well worth it. The food in both restaurants is great, lots for the kids to pick from. Oh, and the best part is you can bring your dog, the staff are really friendly and seem to like having them there. Both restaurants don't mind either (as long as your dining outside). I can't say enough great things about this place. It will always be a family favorite.

L W

We really enjoyed our visit to the village area and spent several hours leisurely visiting different displays and demonstrations. There was a fun crew of actors performing throughout the day. They were enjoyable to interact with.

mythsis Little Farie

We will need to go again, as the attractions close at 5 PM, and we were late arriving. But we enjoyed being there.

Craig Ragan

Yo ho ho! Best place in nice weather when all stores are open. Great whaling museum with movies of The Charles Morgan whaling ship. Immacilate park. Beautiful scenery. Historical scale model museum of Mystic Sea Port. Great Exhibits. Worth joining for membership for yearly events they have.

Tennis Lover

Been coming back to Mystic Seaport Museum every summer because there is so much to see and enjoy. Plenty of things to do in walking distance. Many restaurants to choose from that are convenient a short distance away without the use of a car. Also, excellent and quality choices in hotels to stay that won't break a tourists' budget.

Michael Giacomazza

Alot to see and hear but you would think that paying $28 to go in , by the way if you save your receipt you can use it to go there for two days, would cover all the exhibits, it doesn't. There is a planetarium exhibit that you have to pay a additional $4 to see. If you buy your tickets at the tourist information center in Old Mystic Village on Rt27, you can get the tickets for $24. I think it's about 19 acres. Loved the Old ships. You can go on board most of them.

John Chay

I was there on a rainy New England day and the museum was so interesting that I didn't really notice the rain. It was interesting to learn about the construction of old wooden sailing ships. Going on deck and below was eye opening. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The restoration work on Mayflower II was impressive. This place is the real deal.

Justin Hardesty

This is a great place. It's a unique family spot; rich with history, and staffed with friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable people that truly enjoy passing on the history of this area. History that could easily be lost if not for people like them.

Melissa Salinas

A whole entire town and village of fun. Wonderful staff members all around. Its educational and fun for kids of all ages. Definitely plan to spend hours. The kids loved the childrens museum building, the play ships and building your own boat.

David Patnaude

The place is run by teenagers who can't get your order correct. Not only was our order wrong but 3 others were complaining. The lobster roll was good once they got the order sorted. My son's mac-n-cheese was cold once they got the order right.

Jasmine Haddock

Fun place, a bit pricey, but worth a visit. Great for families

WH J

EXPENSIVE. I came here specifically to attend the Antique Marine Engine Exposition. $28.95 smackeroos for one adult to enter. When questioned about the exorbitant cost to enter for the Antique Marine Engine Exposition (the only thing that I really wanted to attend), the expo event workers immediately attempted to give excuses. Because, they too know that the cost is too high. An event such as this should not cost more than $10.00 per adult. The expo is small to medium in size, and comparable expos charge only $6.00 adult admission. There are many other things to see in the Seaport Museum buildings, but not all positively impressive. Most of the buildings contain static displays with weak interior lighting. One building contains elaborately detailed exhibits detailing what humans did to whales in the past, and was just a little too much and a bit too glorifying of the process. I heard one docent refer to the exhibits in that building as, quote, “a lot of fun!”.

Amy Whisenhunt

It was a bit pricey for what you got to see. I think if you had kids with you it might have been better.

georgios pirovolikos

Loved it !! Original historic buildings. Great for the kids, very nice and reasonably priced food.

Rachel Beckwith

Always a fun place to visit. Such a sense of history. Well maintained, always immaculate.

danielle jones

Great place for the family. It's large ND the membership is so worth it. There's so much to do and you'll never get tired if the rich history and friendly staff. BUY THE MEMBERSHIP you won't regret it.

Sue Paterson

Even though I don't believe in wailing the Mystic Seaport is a great educational place for people of all ages

Carey Bell

Very well done and interesting especially if you are into ship building and maritime activities. The river is beautiful, a pleasant way to spend a day.

Robert Reilly

Everyone should come explore Mystic Seaport. So much history here. We watched the Mayflower II launch after a 3 year long restoration.

Molly Moynihan

The museum is very expensive but not worth it, if you want to look around go in the places that are free or look up the history. The town is fascinating, great dinners and interesting houses, just very expensive!

Debbie Lewis

Very informative place to learn about all the skilled craftsmanship that went into the whaling ship business. Fun and educational!

Josephine Inzano

This is a wonderfully historic place,. So much to do and see you can stroll through the seaport all day and the guides are terrific they are very knowledgeable, very historic. While you are there the aquarium is a must see! Great vacation place

Heather Bloom

I could have spent MULTIPLE days here. Heck...I could have spent MULTIPLE days just watching the blacksmith work. If you have the time, plan for a two day visit and take a class or two. The staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. I learned more than I knew possible about about ropes, topper splicing, printing, blacksmithing, ship building, and so much more. Everything has an authentic feel without being cheesy or campy. Learning AND having fun... The perfect combination.

John Falkl

Always a great experience at the seaport. Always something new and different

Marylynn Garb in

What fun! There is so much to see and do. A beautiful location and plenty if activities for kids.

Olpaj

Wish I had to see it all! Cool atmosphere. Very interesting, friendly and talkative museum custodians - some of which were actually working on the exhibitions and ships. Definitely worth seeing in Connecticut.

Sarah Baker

This is an amazing place. If you history, wooden boats, or both this is a must do place. Mystic Seaport also houses vast historic collections, that can be viewed by appointment, including boats, 1/2 models, full models, plans, whaling era artifacts, documents, and much much more.

Diane Reed

Loved this place!!! Well worth the entrance fee, you could spend at least half a here very easy!!!

Jean Mumper

This historical recreation of an old New England ship building town is delightful. The living history museum features craftsman working on a model of the Mayflower, blacksmiths, candle makers, and wood carver's, as just a few. They have singers and actors who sing old sea chanties and put on small plays to entertain. Children can learn about the science of sailing, wind, and ocean currents, and even build a small ship. A planetarium has shows of celestial navigation. This museum is a treasure!

Randy Harrell

So this is a long review, sorry. My parents brought me here as a 9 year old in 1964, as part of an amazing cross country trip from California. It helped that my Dad had read Moby Dick to me that spring, the place brought the book to life. I cherished the memories and so in 2002 brought my wife and sons there, no one was disappointed. Today my wife and I returned as retirees and it brought my Dad back to life. Do you remember the line from Field of Dreams about "memories so thick". That was my day. Visit the place, but more importantly, make memories with family, they are a great investment.

Nate Trimble

Even though it began to rain a little bit while my family and I were there, it was still an absolute blast. The workers there were so nice and knowledgeable. I would recommend this place to anybody.

Stefanie Emmerich

Really good place to learn things about the history. Lovely place with nice things to do and watch. Recommend for children, especially the room with a lot of Germany from the past!

Mo Rosen

I can't say much for the tour or any informational value offered here, as we didn't do that, but it's a cool area with the different ships so if you're particularly interested in that I'd say it's probably worth the visit. The cafe inside has good food drinks and fudge. Love the fudge.

Nick T

Really cool place! Full of history and knowledge. Really a great place for kids/adults interested in boats and history. The demonstrations were really unique, we enjoyed watching a blacksmith make a hook. However, the place closes at 6pm which I feel is such a shame because the attraction would be heightened with people wanting to view the water at night. Very well run and kept, such a lovely place to visit!!

Angela Durham

Great Museum. There is so much to see, need at least 4 hours. There are educational activities for the kids to keep them busy. There are also boats you can go on. There are souvenir shops and places to eat. Highly recommend. Make sure to were sneakers or comfy shoes because there is a lot of walking.

Matthew Martin

Very cool, need more than a day to really see it all.

Michael Salvatore

I feel like I don't need to review this. The place is wonderful and staff is amazing. Bring the kids or the Grandparents - everyone will enjoy a day here. Stop by the history of whaling building (can't remember what it's called).

loj leeb

Fascinating museum w/lots of history & charm.

Eric Wold

Awesome place so much history and great for the kids too. We had lunch there it was delicious. Staff was super helpful and friendly.

Diane Dahr

The $4 tour great. Didn't get a chance to do the steamboat because of the weather.

Walter Stanek

Came here years ago with my children. Took my grandson. We had a great time and will go again. Vault tour - nice to see some of the other items in their collection and hear about future exhibits. Staff needs to keep the tour moving and limit any one tour member from dominating the conversation.

Martin Bridewell

Loads to see here with good, clear presentations and displays. Everyone we spoke to were knowledgeable and friendly. We were blessed with lovely weather and had a wonderful day here. Highly recommended.

Norman MacLeod

This place was awesome. Touring the Mayflower II was really informative and the Wooden Boat Show event added an amazing level of energy and excitement to an already great day.

Jonna Gagnon

An awesome maritime museum! It smelled like really old wood and was a huge walk through village. I didn't know any of the 'famous ships' or stories but seeing the Plymouth Ma. Mayflower being restored at the end made it worth it!! If you like boats it is a must do!

Terry Button

Wooden boats galore! I enjoyed all the information that the seaport has. Easy to spent 4 to 6 hour's there.

Candace Curtis

Love it here! So much history here. It's always a great place to visit. And I learn something knew everytime I go. It's so worth it to get the membership. This was one of me and my husband's first dates when I first moved up to CT. The people and staff are so nice and friendly and are happy to just stop and talk with you if you have a question or anything. Even if you just come to sit and enjoy the view of the water. I could go on and on. Lol definitely one of my favorite places!

M Borrus

Neat very experiential museum about the history of whaling and the communities around it. Good day trip, but come with energy as a lot of it is outside and requires walking. Great big ships to walk on! Many people in character who are very knowledgeable. Recreation of the mayflower being built.

Chris Paulson

So awesome, recommend for everyone. Couple, families or groups. So much to see, just simply amazing. Wear comfortable shoes, you'll need it.

Robert Polickoski

This is a wonderful museum of both naval and historical life. There is an active shipyard that restores and builds wooden vessels, currently the Mayflower II. It has buildings housing almost all functions of life from the 19th century with most buildings having friendly and informative volunteers and craftspeople not just describing what was done in those buildings but actually doing it.

Carl Thornton

For over seventy-five year this institution has been welcoming visitors from around the globe. The numerous stories of our nation's maritime history come to life in this magnificent setting. One can watch the tradesmen of a recreated seaside village get the job done the old fashioned way and also visit homes of people who lived by the shore. If you enjoy learning about how sailing ships ventured out to cross the ocean or to harvest the bounty of the near coastal waters this is the place for you. A friendly and knowledgeable staff brings to life this amazing open air museum.

Vitali Hostiuk

Really nice recreation of an authentic historic seaport village with all the stores and workshops. Fun for the whole family.

W Reid

It's so beautiful here, we started looking at homes here. We want to buy a summer home here. It's awesome!

Jaime Bermudez

Excelent place to learn about our past. Kept in top notch condition. The staff was really helpful

Marcel Perusse

Wonderful place to visit.great for a family.information about old sailing ships and the whaling industry was great.

Demitra Wilder

This museum is wonderful. Well run, activity for kids, lots of amenities in the layout. Staff are exceptional- helpful, and friendly.

Paul Gagne

Great place to go with the family. Getting to walk through the ships was probably the coolest part. Beautiful old boats, buildings, etc.

Aric Cheney

Just attended Viking Days! With Scandinavian food, viking sparring demonstrations, a viking village, a tour of the world's largest viking ship the Draken, and so much more it was a amazing day! This museum is worth visiting with the whole family. There isn't enough time in a day to see everything for sure.

Andrea Wagner

Wish we had allowed ourselves more time to explore. Will definitely return.

Terry Horney

This is a wonderful place to visit and learn so much. Wonderful place to bring children.

Felipe Massa

Really neat museum with lots of exhibits. Don't miss the barrel making (coopering) demo.

Sandra Roma

Since we haven't been since we were kids in school, my husband and I couldn't vist Mystic, Ct. without going to the Mystic Seaport. It was great! Brought back a lot of childhood memories.

Richard Richard

What a great place, so much to see and do, people are friendly, and will answer your questions about the world of seafaring. Makes for a great day

Joey Amedo

A 19th century experience of maritime waterfront settlement with iconic whale ships and museums & shops. Great outdoor activity for family, friends, lovers, tourists and even locals to experience, discover and learn maritime history & whaling. Highly recommended

Katie Rostron

My boyfriend and I had a great day here. We aren't into boating at all, but we enjoyed it very much. There's a lot of beautiful artwork. Just make sure you bring sunglasses because you will be outdoors quite a bit

John Colonni

Been a member for 28years and always enjoy going. A must stop when visiting mystic. Free parking restuarant are close by. Walking distance to downtown.

I'm One

Great way to spend the day! Loads of fun activities like candle making, boat building, and even local craft shopping. Learned a great deal of how life was at those times and even enjoyed learn where we get the terms of upper case and lower case from as well as seeing up close what a whaling ship was like.

Lynne Dewey

The nieces loved the seaport; expect to walk & walk & walk and the ground might be gravel/ uneven. It was great for seeing history, having the kids touch, play and run the energy out of them.

Richard Baker

Absolutely wonderful location for anyone interested in seafarers and big ships of sail.

Debbie O'Toole

Very informative, just wish they were open later on weekends when our family can travel.

Andrea Duprey

So much FUN ON DOG DAY !! Great People ! Friendly Doggie's .. It's always a beautiful day to hang with the kiddos & the doggies .. Thank You Mystic we love you

Nathan Baron

Amazing place if you are interested in ships and the sea. Lots for kids to do as well as adults.

Lisa Shirley

I absolutely loved this museum. It is loaded with history that is great for all ages. I literally spent the whole day here (with the exception of going to get lunch) because there is so much to see. As long as you wear your wristband you can come and go as you please before closing. The staff that I interacted with made the experience so much better because they have such great knowledge about the history of the exhibits. I also got to see the Mayflower II celebration, which was amazing and emotional. I am honored to have seen this beautiful ship full restored. I highly recommend one and all to check out this great museum. You will not be disappointed.

Mark Hess

Great interactive museum. My main goal was to get a look at the Mayflower II which has been recently renovated for the 400th anniversary of the Pilgrims arrival. What we found was many interesting shops and exhibits that depicted life in early America. The people at each shop were happy to explain what they were doing and how it fit into life in the early 1800's. We watch coopers make barrels, printers set type, and clock makers repair clocks. Interesting and fun for the whole family.

Holly Biggers

There are a few historical places that are just fun to visit and Mystic Seaport is one of these. I first visited here in the early ‘90s and it is as great as I remember it. You can climb aboard a variety of wood ships, learn from tradesmen about the sea port through the centuries and see the good work done to keep that living history alive. Museum campus is easily walkable, displays are interesting, views are spectacular. We caught a musical group there and I’m hooked now!

Camden Courcier

This is my favorite place to visit in the whole state of Connecticut. If you're interested in shipping and sailing of the 18th and 19th centuries you have to spend at least a day here. The shipyard there builds and restores wooden sailing ships. They just launched a replica of the Mayflower in 2019.

David Rogers

This took us back to whaling times and days of tall ships. Learned so much the first day I had to go back for a second round the next. Well curated and fresh even though it has been operating since the 80s. The enthusiasm and knowledge of the team is mind blowing. Thank you all for the wonderful experience.

Greg Tisdale

Absolutely awesome it's a must see and the people are great and very informative

Kristina Ennis

We saw all the big ships from the water on a new sunset boat cruise. They are doing some nice reconstruction.

Don McCubbin

Love the nautical history and exhibits. Find the seemingly random closing of facilities annoying. For example, the tavern and ice cream vendor closed at 4 while the museum closed at 5. But a neat place for sea-lovers.

Hypnosis Helps

A treasure of Mystic. Fun and educational, with a wealth of activities. The staff are enthusiastic and knowledgeable. The exhibits include the Charles W Morgan, the only surviving wooden whaling vessel. She's seaworthy too. Plan to spend hours, especially if you want to enjoy the many activities.

fyreatr Brandelli

Always great exhibits with interactive experiences. Areas for the children to play and craft and imagine. During the warmer weather there are skits incorporating the audience. Lots of demonstrations and hands on activities. See tree Mayflower II in restoration or climb aboard a Viking ship or a clipper ship. Walk through a 19th century town and meet the keepers. My young grandchildren love going as much as we do.

Andrew Cordray

It was fine. Nothing to go out if the way for. Friendly staff and clean. Very very touristy though. Probably deserves more than 5 stars, but we went an hour out of the way to come here because of the reviews and it really wasnt worth it. If you're interested though, I would still go.

Crockett Button

This museum is a great place to visit if you are interested in the way things were done in the past. The self guided tour, with the assistance of the people at the different buildings is informative and interesting. This museum is set up like a fishing village of the time period. Lots of fun.

Bonnie Schwartz

An added bonus to the Aquarium is the art gallery that's on the grounds to the left of the entrance. Its 2 floors and it's not only nautical art. Also, check out the gift shop next door.. it's huge and has unusual things.

Lydia Lagerberg

We attended the Viking Days at the Seaport and had a great day. Costumed vendors and sword fighting. So many activities for the kiddos. Special foods available also. Sea shantys were sung. Birds of prey demonstrations. A Viking long ship was docked and available for tours. I loved seeing all the hand made items for sale. Loved seeing the special tents and encampments. We decided to apply our entrance fee towards a membership so we can come back soon. Looking forward to Wooden Boat days.

Mike Oliveri

Don't let the price put.you off. There's a lot of history here, plenty to see, and the staff seems to really know their stuff. It was also cool to see an actual ship being repaired for sailing.

Jonathan Collum

We came here on the 4th of July as I had seen they were having a number of events. The ticket prices seemed a bit high at first, but after walking around for several hours we saw maybe half of the exhibits on the property. They also will let you leave and come back, even validating your receipt to return another day. Which you might need to do to see everything. If you like seeing history up close and even interacting with it directly this is a great place to see it. They have so many pretty large ships currently in restoration which the fantastic craftsman here work on. Currently in their tent is the Mayflower II. Very knowledgeable staff and volunteers, definitely a must see for any history buffs especially sailing/whaling history.

Judy White

The boat ride at 5:30 was very nice. Got to see the sunset.

Maria Bausch

I took my Dad for father’s day because I know he loves boats. It was a really cool experience. There is a lot to see and do here with different demonstrations going on throughout the day. My favorites were touring the big old sailing vessels and seeing the ship they are currently renovating is also VERY cool to see. If you like history, you will find this very interesting.

Patrick O'Connor

Enthusiasts may find the $28.95 entrance fee bearable but not everybody will. One of our party who chose not to proceed to admission was treated disrespectfully by one female north entrance staff member who reacted to a request for directions and for a sheltered place to sit with a sarcastic query whether admission had been paid. Facilities for those who may wish to await the return of a fee paying enthusiast are essentially non-existent (we’re talking about a covered place to sit down here people!). Don’t darken their doorstep without wallet in hand.

Ashley Gardner

A great place to take everyone in the family. There is something for everyone to do. They have children's activities and a children's meuseum. They also have tours and lectures of the historic boats. They take you back in time and make you believe you are in a whaling village. It is definitely something wonderful to experience

William Wagner

I became a member because I'm always experiencing something new here. Not just events like the Wooden Boat Show or the Sea Chantey Festival or the launch of the Mayflower II, but also little things when I take visiting family and friends and let them lead the way. Last week there happened to be a flotilla of ten or more sailboats visiting as part of an annual cruising event that has taken these sailors as far as the Caribbean and Croatia. It's a very special place.

Ranjana Waraich

Very good place to visit with children.I did fabulous photography there.Staff was very friendly. It was a educational trip too.Amazing historic sails were exhibited.Restrooms were everywhere.Best thing was they gave you tickets with one year valid period(one visit).

Carolyn Rosensweig

Great day with niece and nephew. Liked interactive displays

T Portuondo

I was amazed at how vast the museum is. What a splendid job replicating the towns and shops during the era of the founding fathers.

Michelle Denault

Great living history museum for all ages! Help haul lines, sing sea chanties, and explore some boats then sit down for a tasty lunch! There is a lot for children to do here with a small museum for the under 7 set and the discovery barn to work with simple machines.

The Rev. Thomas C. Jackson

America's premier Maritime museum. An amazing collection of historic ships, boats, and buildings. I'm so glad to have rejoined as a member! They are now hard at work at restoring the Mayflower 2.

Marcia Wilhelm

A great living museum. We enjoyed every bit of it, including seeing the Mayflower with anew coat of paint

John Kish

Would have got four stars as it is a fascinating place to visit. However, waiting 45 minutes for two sandwiches in the restaurant was unacceptable!

Lindsey Jones

We are out of towners spending our summer vacation time volunteering with Builders for Christ and we have children in our group that do various activities throughout the area while their parents serve in construction all week. We were excited to take the kids to the Seaport Museum and truly loved everything they had to offer! Fantastic children's museum with lots of hands on learning and our crew loved all of it. My reason for only 3 stars is simply that the young man at the entrance counter was extremely negative, not friendly, seemed very put out with our group and had no desire at all to even see about some kind of discount for us (which is rare when places know why we are in town... and our people are very friendly and gracious). The price was very high for our families, who have already spent a significant amount of our own money and time to serve their community on our summer vacation. I would simply suggest that a little more graciousness by the young man at the counter would have gone a long way, especially since there was no wiggle room on the pricing. We still paid and went, but it was a pretty unfriendly first impression.

What I found most amazing is that the more than 60 buildings in the village, including one-room school house, apothecary, post-office and much, much more, are all authentic historic buildings that were moved to the site and restored. They are not reproductions. I understand the lighthouse is the only building that is a reproduction. This fact gives me a much greater appreciation when visiting the village. Also amazing is the ability to tour the historic ships, the sleeping quarters, etc, to imagine the hard life of a seafarer.

S M

Great stop for some peaceful sightseeing! We went when the mayflower was being restored and my son loved it, since he didn't get to see it on a field trip. The boats are all so beautiful and it was nice getting to learn about each one. There's even a little village you can walk through which was nice.

Tod McNeal

When you wanted to go to a place for 30 or 40 years and then you finally get to go sometimes you are let down. But not in this instance. This was everything I hoped it would be and then some! The people who work there are incredibly knowledgeable and very friendly and it's one of the finest experiences I've ever had at any Museum or similar place anywhere on Earth! The only thing I wish I had done was planned for an entire day rather than half a day because we didn't get to see everything and I'm not sure we would have gotten to see everything with a full day either - it's quite impressive!!!

Heather McClure

Absolutely awesome place to bring your family. So much to see and the staff are very knowledgeable.

marion mack

Great museum, loads to see and our ticket was valid for an extra day so we went back. Worth the money. Staff very knowledgeable, they made history come alive. Highly recommended. We travelled as a couple, but it would be excellent for families with children too.

Sarah S

It was really nice but smaller than I remember it and the weather was perfect for being out side so that helped me have a better day to the end of my vacation

Russell Miller

Wonderful craft you'll see nowhere else, active shop building and rehabbing ships such as the Morgan and the Mayflower Il, turning trees and logs into "knees" and planking.

Susan Fadule

Always a great time! Tons of history. Only bad thing is the snack shop closes before the seaport closes. That's a problem. EVERYTHING should be open until the port closes.

Valerie Duffy

Very educational and fun. Much larger than it looks grom the outside. Memorial Day activities...reenactments, workers dressed in period clothing. A great place to visit. Several hours needed to see everything.

William Kerpka

The buildings and ships were great to see. Also activities for kids. Super place to see.

Sandra Woodcox

Worth seeing a wow experience for sure. fun for every member of the family.

Welch Guo

The ships are very fun go on and the houses near them are very fun to explore

Anna Impastato

Historical open air seaport museum. Recreates a whaling and shipbuilding town. Fascinating and informative. Two whaling ships to board. Wear comfortable shoes.

Katherine Zhukoff

Great place to visit with kids or without! We had so much fun by learning different old skills

Stephen Summy

Great historical site. Great for all ages. Mayflower 2 being rebuilt at the time of our visit. Displays and all of the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Don't miss the planetarium.

Sabrina Hensel

It was a super fun place to learn about ships and ship building. A fun activity for the family. I will be going again!

Joe Gallagher

I come back every year. This place is such a wealth of seafaring knowledge. They always seem to have a rotating stock of wooden boats around and seeing some of the permanent fixtures is like greeting old friends. Hopefully someday I can own a wooden boat of my own.

Robert Mocek

Educational and fun. Makes me wish I was a kid again!

Ronnie Esquivel

Really unique place. Must see when you're in the area. Lots to do and see for kids and adults. Great learning experience.

Ada Johnson

Lots to see and do. Shopping, informative exhibits on life at sea. Good idea for a family outing.

Paul Nee

Great place for relaxation and learning about the old ships. We learned about how ships were made and saw the ship “Mayflower ll” in the making. It will be quite a sight when completed. Overall it was a wonderful experience.

Nelson Rivera

My family and I had a good time here. It was very educational!! I wish the fresh apple pie they were cooking in one of the old homes was forsale. The workers really interact with you and teach you things that you may not know.

Robert Lumens

We all loved it. The history was wonderful.

I wish i could give Mystic Seaport 5+ stars. It is a huge place with lots of attractions for kids of all ages. You can rent a boat, enjoy great food at the restaurants and then visit the shops at the drawbridge for a great ice-cream to finish your day. You can easily spend 5-6 hours. A lot of the attractions are outdoors so avoid visiting the place on a rainy day. My kids absolutely loved making their own boats. Also, don't miss riding Sabino , 111 year old steam boat. It will take you down the history lane. I was amazed by the level of sophistication that they have 100 years ago. Overall a must visit place for kids and adults.

Demetrios Kanavaros

Good! A bit disorganized with the ticketing for boat rides and finding your way to docking line. Also not clear that you aren't paying for a ride on the Sabino until you realize it's just a small boat that's picking you up. But very fun and kid friendly. Lots to see.

Eric Erickson

We spent two hours there… Wish we had three! Great spot.

Monica Lenarcic

Great way to spend a gorgeous fall day. The seaport is very well done.

Richard Vaughan

This is one of the best reviews in ct. There is always something new going on and there are several programs throughout the year. I would highly recommend a membership so you can go back as many times as you'd like through the year.

Anthony August

As a boat builder and ship right this was a very fun place to visit. You could see how the old ships were being built and they were building one while I was there. They show rope building sail making and chandlery on-site some places to eat and get a snack and go aboard several boats and ships on display. They had a Viking ship there that was visiting when I was there. Plan on spending a day as it is a very large place

Chris Story

Fantastic place! My dad and I stayed for two nights. The beluga whale was great and I had to see the dinosaurs moving around. They look like so real but it wasn't.

Justin Marquis

A great step back into time in the heart of mystic. A wonderful staff of experts that care about history and what it means. Step aboard the morgan and see what naval living was really like. Visit the quaint village of old and feel the nostalgia for a simpler time. Bring a desire for fun and a will to learn. Something for all ages.

Kit Parker

Plenty of parking. It's interesting but I would not say it's the most exciting day I have ever spent in the museum. Sculpture guy seems good. I'd love to watch a video tape of somebody actually doing modern-day whaling

Michael motorcycle

I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Great place to check out some really neat history about New England culture. Really a great place to take the family for an outing. Little pricey for entry. Feel like they should do some fund raising to lower the price of admissions but really a neat place to go even if youre by yourself and are interested in seeing some cool stuff!!!

Bavette Goes Mobile

Awesome, so much amazing history and being able to go onto the ships was amazing! The gift shop, however, way overpriced $60 for long sleeve tee? Wow

Vape 'n Brew

This is a great place to see the history of sailing ships and how they were used and how they are repaired. There are real world skilled Craftsmen on site doing work the way it was done long ago.

Dave Cope

Such a great step back into history.......worth the visit for sure. Learned a lot about the history of the area as well as ship building and whaling. A must do when in the area.

Mia McDonald

We love this place so much we became members. We couldn’t possibly get done all there was to do in one day and had to return. There is something for the very Young, elementary aged, middle school age, highschoolers. We also returned for viking days.

Michelle Moody

My husband and I were disappointed that admission is $28.95 for adults to get in. When we were here years ago, you did not have to pay to walk alomg the water. Why should you pay to walk along a seaport? We love museums and do not mind paying admission, but we both thought this set up was a bit ridiculous. We ended up leaving town and not even walking around the shops because we found this so upsetting. Of course, there we plenty of people who paid the admission, so nothing will change. What a shame that we are not likely to return.

Bobby Brewer

Very large "museum" lots of buildings to explore. You could easily spend 5-6 or even more hours here exploring everything. Also the exibits are very well described so you know what youre looking at.

Eric Sirois

My son loved the one week summer day camp at the seaport. He wants to go again next year.

Rita Hadeka

We got there late in the day to really enjoy it, so we got in for a reduced fee but You really need at least 4hrs to walk thru this area. The doors to the different exhibits promptly close at 5pm.

Kate Bengtson

A family friendly attraction that has something new every time you visit! The staff are friendly and knowledgeable.
