REVIEWS OF Mystic Aquarium IN Connecticut

Munoz Family

We always love coming here with the boys. A little bit of everything, indoor and outdoors. We have visited during rain and shine with no complaints. The exhibits are gorgeous, it's easy to let the kids walk and roam themselves. Stroller friendly, and we bring snacks and water ourselves. The food is good, and typical attraction prices. The animals are always active and enjoyable. The extra exhibits are always well done, the dinosaurs were excellent. The sea lion show is fun and a nice break if you catch it at the right time during your visit. If you're staying a couple of days, you can get your ticket validated and return the next two days for free. This feature is great for kids, as it is a great place to come back at your leisure. You can also borrow wheelchairs, no cost, but none of the doors are button accessible. Overall, great experience that we always look forward to.

Melissa Salinas

Wonderful aquarium and beautiful animals. Staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. My children loved the penguins, seals and beluga whales. The seal show was fantastic and kept everyone entertained. And the dinosaur exibit was great as well. A great day to spend around the aquarium. I highly recommend it to anyone in the area as a not to miss spot.

Toni Cotto

My daughter took us to Mystic Aquarium and it was amazing! It's a bit pricey but worth it. I highly recommend it.

Jorge Delgado

Love the animals. Place is always clean, very nice little town of shops with toys you don't see everywhere. Great for the kids.

Deborah Corder

Definitely not worth the price !! $90 for 2 adults. From outside you would think it’s a big place but it’s definitely not ,plus you have to pay for so many other things extra. When you pay to get in that should cover the theaters too. The only reason I’m leaving 2 stars is because the sea lion show was really good.

Frankie Rosario

Mystic Aquarium is home to many creatures both big and small that never fail to bring a smile to everyone they encounter. There’s always a happy sea lion ready to perform and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Don’t forget to check out the penguin feedings.

Tony S

The location is pricey but maintaining this location can't be cheap. They also take care of rescued sea animals so everything helps. They also have a dinosaur exhibit which comes with the general admission. You get through the whole location in about an hour and a half. The sea lion show is great for the kids too.

Andrew Berg

Had a great afternoon with the whole family. Great mix of exhibits to view and interactive activities. Fantastic variety of animals and a fun layout even the little kids can manage.

Michael Kutzer

The kids liked it... But I found it to be way too expensive. Try not to eat there. Everything I had wad cold or almost warm. And the servers were terrible.

Amy Delgado

If you have a choice between Boston and Mystic choose Mystic aquarium. Mystic is far more kids friendly and spread out . They have thought of every detail making viewing for childern easy and enjoyable. If you need handicap accommodations this aquarium if far more accessible. The aquarium is nicely spread out making it easy to move through with a stroller even in a crowded day. They have a picnic area if you choose to bring your own food. The exhibits are lovely and clean and the staff always kind and helpful.

sarah s

Always a good time. Fun short trip, and the membership is definitely worth it. Bought the picture package this time which was pretty pricey, but my husband insisted because it was my birthday. Not too crowded once school is back in.

Ananda LaDuca

I looove Mystic Aquarium! The sea lion show was amazing! Really nice staff. Amazing fish, stingrays and sharks. The Coral is beautiful! I would definitely go back!! Best aquarium I've been to!!

Adrienne Beaver

First time there. So many things to do and see. It was great. Had a good day. People were nice.

Karen McQueen

We really enjoyed this aquarium! Admission was reasonably priced, though we purchased the value tickets to go to Boomerang Island where they have parrots. When we got there, the island was closed for the season. I wish we knew that prior otherwise we would've gotten general admission. The outside exhibits are amazing! Beluga whales, sea lions, seals, penguins, the marsh walk through were all amazing! The inside gallery has a smaller amount of exhibits than other aquariums we have visited but they were beautifully maintained. We will definitely be returning

Gary Hardy

It was pouring rain when we arrive. Parking lot was flooded. Impossible to go between buildings without getting drenched. Walkways between buildings ankle deep water. Outdoor exhibits closed. Sure. It rains sometimes. I'm sure Aquarium is lovely on a nice sunny days and worth the $45 pp. BUT! NO DISCOUNT DUE TO WEATHER CONDITIONS??? We wasted $250+ on a very bad experience.

Sky Stroodle

Very welcoming, with several nicely decorated and interesting little areas for learning. With several areas you can interact with the animals, and also gawk as much as your heart desires. It is small enough to spend several hours and still be in a great mood to pop over to the Village not to far away. The gorgeous paths with the amazing wildlife is worth the visit.

Tammy Waterman

Very fun and educational. My son is 7 with Autism. We traveled from Maine to Mystic and spent 3 days. The Aquarium is very therapeutic and wonderful staff. In total we spent about 6 hours here. The food is pricey .

Amanda Ronis

Excellent views of lots of animals. Great sea lion show (although super corny). Cool jelly fish. Lots of hands on experiences.

Karthik P

Majestic views of the Baluga whales welcome the visitors into the aquarium, lots of touch and feel centers for kids to experience ocean life forms. The sea lions are a blast, so cute and smart. And the cute penguins top off the experience perfectly.

jeffrey chapman

This place is great, had a blast with the family. The Beluga Whales are awesome, they're definitely not camera shy it honestly seems as if they're posing for the pic

LushaRose

This is a very cool spot to go! I went recently as a chaperone. You can pet stingrays and other sea life here! Also have a sea lion show and a mechanical dinosaur section that is pretty neat! It is a very cool place for children and field trips. It's definitely on the smaller side though and they do not have dolphins or sharks or many other larger sea creatures. However penguins and beluga whales are present and very cool to interact with. I also saw a sign advertising a walrus but didn't have a chance to see it.

Brianna Weyant

Great place for kids, very interactive and educational. Loved it!!! I'm 20 and my brother is 17, and we even enjoyed ourselves. Very crowded though. So get there early!

Alicia Boddie

Went today, 8/12/19. Beautiful aquarium and great that they are helping sea life, but the sea lion show was a big disappointment. It felt like just a quick information session that we waited too long for it to start and then it only lasted 10 min. Last time I was there, a few years ago, there was a theatrical show where the trainers and sea lions put on a real show.

Lucas McCarren

So cute here. I love the whales. There is also a cool bird feeding house. Also my friend Doug tried to kiss me here. That was whackadoo. The food was also reasonably priced.

Charlene Bee

Had a fabulous time even though we had to search forever for parking. We got the opportunity to touch sharks and sing rays and hermit crabs. The sea lions were the star of the day with their hilarious interactive show. If you can, visit the 4D theater but be mindful that it gets very loud in there so may not be for the tiny tots with sensitive ears. All in all, it was a wonderful experience.

Bonnie Shirley

Best aquarium in New England! Took a trip from NH on a recommendation from friends and so glad we did. We loved the chance to be both inside and outside for exhibits. The beluga whales are a big attraction. I could watch then all day. My favorite part was the seal show. You can get up close with these guys and the trainers were top notch when working with the animals.

Jessica Brown

Absolutely love mystic aquarium so much fun. And all my kiddos had fun. Makes for a fun day. That's for sure. I did find the park to be expensive as they charge extra just to go see birds. And other animals. That turned my stomach but I absolutely love going and all my kiddos had fun.

H B

The aquarium is nice but it's kind of small. The ticket prices are a little extreme. We circled the entire facility in less than an hour with two toddlers. We had three adults so we spent over $100 on admission alone. We felt that was a steep price for an hour of entertainment.

Dennis Carlson

Absolutely amazing aquarium. Fantastic place for kids and adults. The beluga whales are beautiful and the facility is maintained to top notch. Well done.

nope Serrano

It was great! I enjoyed the sea lion & beluga whale show..My kids loved it..the gift shop was nice & had a variety of merchandise to choose from. The staff was very courteous & helpful! Cant wait to go back!!

Ryan Drugan

Such a fantastic place to visit as a childAnd now even better to visit with my own. Still a great facility that treats their guests and animals very well.

Walter Stanek

Really great place for kids. I was a little disappointed with the 3D Dolphin program. We sat through the show and I thought we had finished the intro, i expected a bit more. My grandson loved the penguins. Definitely buy tickets online and get a time slot. We got a 12 noon on a Sunday and it was not crowded. Got a little busy after 1pm. Next time we go, I'll plan a little better and try for an earlier time.

Kimberly Canale

The Sea Lion show is outstanding! Well educated and friendly handlers. They are willing to speak with you after the show and answer any questions that you have. The butterfly garden is very small and not worth the extra money. Inside aquariums are very pretty. Some had glass sculptures.Watching the Penguin feeding is a lot of fun. You can stand very close and speak with the handlers. (People) food was relatively reasonable. Can have your ticket validated to allow access for two more days. Buy tickets at the information Center located in the Olde Mystic Village Shoppes (right next door) for a better discount. Another plus is free parking!

John Powers

Wonderful large aquarium with many different types of fish plus beluga whales, two types of sea lions, and penguins. There are many touch tanks for petting such sea life as rays, sharks and crabs. There is an impressive and entertaining sea lion show. BE AWARE: The adult admission price is $24 more than displayed on the website!

Laura Kirsop

Pretty expensive for the basic entry, but we were able to use the tickets for two extra days. The plan-ahead pricing online was a bit confusing. Some of the staff were nice, but most ignored us or acted bothered. The sea lion show was kinda cheesy. Would've preferred less "show" and more about the sea lions. The touch tanks were a hit with my 7 year old. Would've liked more informational signage instead of the tablets next to each tank. I wanted to know all the different species in each tank but it wasn't listed anywhere. For the price, I was expecting a bit more.

Will Bachrach

An amazing aquarium with a few outdoor exhibits of arctic wild life. The indoor exhibit had loads of different fish and sea creatures. Personally, my favorite and the most intriguing was their jelly fish exhibit. Truly amazing. They also have a lot of hands on activities to keep children interested and engaged. Only downside is that it is quite expensive. A family of four costed around 140 dollars. But for a full day activity and learning experience - it was worth it!

Scott Nickerson

It's got a great variety of fish shows and viewing areas. Price for admission is fair. Great place for young and old to learn about habitats for all the fish and mammals that are on display.

Michael Sokol

Quaint aquarium that will surprise you with its size. The exhibits are nice and the sea lion show is cool, too! Visiting here won't suck up your entire day, either. Check it out!

Bruce Z

A nice little day trip when added in with nearby Mystic Village. Interesting and educational for all ages. The one caveat is watch for what discounts apply to only online ticket purchases. It's not made clear on the website. Also some exhibits are extra.

Gary Merritt

I've heard good things about Mystic, and it's really not a bad aquarium... if you live within an hour. My family and I commuted from 3hrs away, and it was not worth the trip imho. For what you get, I'd say it's a little overpriced, and as with all these tourist attractions food and the "souvenir" shops are definitely way overpriced. The "free" exhibits once you get into the park, probably would take you a couple of hours to get through at a moderate pace. The main exhibit with all the tanks is neat, they have a decent amount of different fish, the jellyfish section was neat. The dinosaur exhibit was decent, with an amphibian/reptile section at the end. We didn't go to the 4D theatre or do anything that costs anything additional. We would have liked to have seen the sea lion show, but the timing didn't work out for us. If you don't have a 6hr round trip this might be a 4 star visit for you. Hard telling, as I am a little jaded, but overall I wasn't overly impressed.

Heather Montag

A fun day out. If you live in the area, a year pass is totally worth it. The staff is knowledgeable and the animals are too fun!

Amber Rausch

Every time I come here, I have such a great experience. This time, we went early to avoid the bigger crowds. And my daughter and I got to feed a cow-nosed ray for the first time ever!! We held off on that until the end and it made for a great end to our day. My 40 year old boyfriend was like a little kid. He hadn't been to the aquarium since he was really little so this ended up being a really nice trip for him.

Nick T

Experience: 5/5 - Great visitor attraction! Really geared for kids but anyone will have a great time there. I was in a group of 3 people and we were able to see everything in 3 hours, including a sea lion show! Overall worth going but a little pricey for a smaller aquarium. X-Factor: Multiple touch tanks such as sting ray and bird feeding.

Grace Chau

Love this place. I wish it was close to where I live. Beluga is the best part

Deliysia Smith

Good to go to if you’ve never been before. Don’t think I’d go again. I’d say the food wasn’t that great (chicken strips and waffle fries) for $15 and people were walking on top of each other but it was great to see all the different animals and fish. Sea Lion show was the highlight of it all!

Tyler Holloway

Not like it used to be. Cost about $35 a ticket and takes about an hour or two to walk through. Depending on if you go with younger kids maybe you can make a day out of it.

Angela Durham

Mystic Aquarium is a very nice aquarium. Suggest getting the Mystic pass it will save you money to get into the aquarium as well as into the seaport Museum. Mystic Aquarium is not the biggest aquarium that I've been to but , it has interesting exhibits and a place for kids to play with water which they love. Next to the aquarium is Old Mystic Village which has plenty of shops and restaurants. Suggest eating at the Bleu Squid that has great food for reasonable prices and their cupcakes are delicious.

kevin thibdeau

A great place to visit rain or shine. It is probably 30 percent outdoors and 70 percent inside. The 4d theater is well worth the money if you have kids. I enjoyed it myself. Lots to do, see and experience in doors. The dinosaur exhibit was very good as well. Food seems overpriced for what it is.

Adriana

The place is starting to show its age, but the belugas alone are worth the trip! It's a little confusing knowing what is included in the tickets purchased online since there are levels. It's not clear. Parking is free. I did not eat there. Mistick Village across the road is a must-see, though!

Christina Campbell

This place is Amazing!!!!!!! Worth the money. If you don't want to wait in a huge line purchase your tickets online, that's what we did. You can also leave and get stamped so you can rerurn. Across the street they have restaurants and about 60 shops its awesome, it's like a small town. The inside aquarium is awesome. The sea lion show was unbelievable. The beluga whales are soooo beautiful. Let's just say you will have a great time. We didn't want to leave.

Rachel Watrous

I haven't been in such a long time. I went with my nephew and we really enjoyed it! I love the new exhibits and the seals.

Daniel Chacko

Just the right sized aquarium to finish in a half day with kids under 13 or so. Membership plans are decent if you go back more than once a year. Pretty poor ability to manage availability of their own staff on Labor Day weekend leading to long lines even on the Members line.

Natasha Gerasimopoulos

Great place to take the kids during the summer while schools off on a beautiful day. Unlike the Maritime aquarium they do have the cutest penguins and beluga whales. The only thing I was upset about was the cost which was close to $70 for my son and I. My son is 7 years old I think that they should have a children's discount under 12 years old. Other than that it was a great day

Chris Longenbaker

I remember having fun here as a kid, and last year I got to come back with one of my own kids for a group overnight program. I enjoy seeing the fish, but there are also plenty of marine mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and hands-on exhibits for everyone to enjoy. After the aquarium, it's worth the quick trip over to see the harbor and other sites in Mystic, too.

Aaron Packnick

Though the beluga whales and penguins are the premier exhibit of this place, every outdoor exhibit and most of the indoor ones are staffed with knowledgeable staff that can tell you all about the animals. It's not too expensive for a day's visit and there's a lot of tickets that are available in coordination with other area attractions. The sea lion show is particularly awesome with different themes throughout the day. Ultimately, a trip to Southeast Connecticut isn't complete without a visit.

Dawn Turner

Very old aquarium. Small and plain concrete habitats. This aquarium is a rescue. Concrete walkways in poor repair. Indoor aquarium area with some unique and rare specimens. Can see entire aquarium in an hour. For children under 10.

K Kelly Reynolds

The Beluga Whales are always fun. I like be the focus on conservation. And there is always someone standing by to answer any questions you may have.

Bente Jamieson

I had a marvelous time at Mystic Aquarium. Excellent customer interaction. My friend and I did trainer of the day. Definitely recommend doing that for sure. I got to kiss a Sea Lion. Plus a beluga whale gave me a kiss on the cheek. Flipping amazing. Don't miss out on a chance of a lifetime. One more experience to check off my bucket list! I loved feeding the penguins too! Very cool! Do trainer of the day and general admission is a great bonus part of package. Ultimately it shows how much they care because the intense conversation and knowledge. Trainer of the day

J G

Great place to bring younger kids. Takes about 4-5 hours to do the whole thing and enjoy it. Food options could be better and there were a few staff members that could have been more friendly but they deal with some poorly behaved school field trips all day so it's understandable.

Alex Kogan

This place is great, I'm an experienced aquarium goer and I've seen some animals here that I have never seen in person before like the beluga whale. I expected this place to be a bit bigger but my kids loved it. Highly recommend this aquarium to any family traveling in the area.

Laura Petrone

We had such a great time visiting. The beluga whales are a huge attraction. The sea lions are awesome as well as the shark tanks and the seals / stingrays. Penguins are cute and close. It was a nice walk and easy to manage and I was doing it with a 2 year old. I thought it was great.

mike wood

This is a truly great place to visit! We didn't expect such a great aviary, amazing sea lion show and assortment of deep sea creatures! Plenty of places like this that attract kids seem like 'money traps' but THIS was truly a great value and experience! There is a lot that's hands-on here - including petting Rays!

Jason Xavier

Alright. Good for a few hours. Just know that that it is a bit pricey and about a quarter of the activities cost additional money. They do have a nice sea lion show. Not sure if I would do this again at the current price point however worth doing if you have not been there before.

Justin Scaduto

It's a pretty good aquarium although a little on the small side. You'll finish it in a couple hours. It does have beluga whales, which you won't find in many other places. The sea lion show is good although mightily corny. Many decent touch tanks for the kids too.

Audrey Manning

This place is amazing! My kids loved it! I really enjoyed all the different areas & learning so much from each of them.

Lisa Shirley

I was staying at a hotel nearby so I figured I would check out this place. I'd hate to say this...being a New Yorker and I am absolutely in love with the New York Aquarium in Brooklyn, but this aquarium is awesome. The sea lion show is wildly entertaining and funny, where it is actually better than the sea lion show in Brooklyn. I loved seeing the Beluga Whales and touching the stingrays in the touch tank. They have a cafe area that serves pretty decent food and a nice gift shop. I will definitely hit this place up again the next time I am in Mystic.

Linda Ferrara

It is an incredible experience, but it was very crowded today. It is the last weekend before school starts, a Saturday and perfect weather. The exhibits were fantastic. Our favorites were the outdoor ones.

Fang

I always love visiting this place. Not only is it educational, the aquatic life here are great to see! Special exhibits and shows are great too.

Dené Ackerman

Alot smaller than I anticipated but very clean and you can tell they love the fish and sea creatures. Our daughter is only 1 and she enjoyed it. I anticipate she'll enjoy it much more in a few years. Adjacent shops are cute but super pricy. Book ahead so you can bypass the line during peak seasons.

Peter Kirylo Jr.

Came for my birthday and had a wonderful time. All the tanks were beautiful and seemed well maintained. The sealion show was very cute.

richardmarsh82

Great place to take the kids. Exhibits are always clean and there are some great interactive things for the kids to do. Overall probably the best aquarium in CT. Take a walk over to Old Mystic Village when you're done.

Cliff Dropkin

It was a very hot summer day with lots of children in school buses that were all visiting the aquarium that day. The exhibits where very enlightening however there were just too many people in the facility at one time. I found relief and the air condition gift shop and the visit would have been a lot more enjoyable on a cooler day we're walking through the different exhibits wouldn't have been so difficult.

Denisee Martin

Loved the exhibits but especially loved our up-close time with the African Penguins. The trainer was fun and so knowledgeable. The jellyfish exhibits are great. The beluga whales were very interactive with the people by the tank. The especially seemed to like children! We had a great time.

Elena Kamis

IM IN LOVE this aquarium is so cool! Definitely a good morning activity and fun for all ages (including those mid 20s who can’t decide if we’re adults or kids). Highly recommend checking out the penguins! Some of them are super friendly.

Russell Bennett

We visit everytime in Mystic area. Good shows. L0ts of nice exhibits. Good way to learn about our oceans

Adarsha Vishweshwara

Nice aquarium, have many specialized collections. Beluga whale and penguins are must watch. Jelly fish collection was very unique. They had animateics collection of dinosaurs which was nice too. If you have to pay full price it's kinds expensive.

Stephanie Frake Partridge

We had a blast with the kids. Make sure to bring sunscreen since about half of the aquarium is outdoors. The whales are pretty cool, the penguins were pretty docile, and the birds in boomerang island were really loud. Had a great time, will visit again.

Ciara Richardson

This was my first time in CT with my fiancé celebrating our 8 year anniversary for a few days in Mystic. This is one of the places we enjoyed going to the most, the most favorable thing we enjoyed there was the sea lion show, and getting to feed exotic birds in the tent & feeding stingrays.

John Topper

Mystic isn't like a museum or a normal zoo. They actively encourage people to engage with the animals and they offer several experiences that let you actually get to interact with them one on one. Have you gotten to pet a penguin? That is a thing you can do. Pet a shark? No problem. Give belly rubs to a Baluga whale? Also a thing they can do. Everyone at mystic really genuinely loves the animals they get to work with and it shows. They are passionate and eager to answer questions and share knowledge. Rather than just getting general admission tickets, go to the website and look at the experiences they offer. They coast more, but that is where the real magic is. Those are experiences you will always remember I took advantage of one of them to propose to my girlfriend last time I was there. She said yes. She insists she would have said yes anyway, but I'm certain the Baluga helped.

Ann Marie Blodorn

If you are just visiting for the day, I recommend the Mystic Pass as it will get you in here as well as Mystic Seaport Museum. This aquarium is stroller friendly. When we recently visited, they had a great dinosaur exhibit. Plenty of animals and fishes on display. Lots of staff on hand to answer questions too.

Jim Torres

Ok Google I was not here two months ago. I drove by on the way to New Jersey. I know but I had to go for work. I did like the Aquarium the last time I went though. The kids did too. I caught a raptor exhibit one time. Birds not dinosaurs. It was really cool. I know the Cub Scouts have sleepovers there. Never did that with my son but I wish I did. That's pretty cool. Kudos to them for that. That's pretty much all I remember. Maybe I need to go back so I can update this review. You would all like that I'm sure.

Andrew Pelletier

Always a nice time. We spent two hours here today and there was plenty more to do. You could easily spend four hours here if you wanted to. Between the sea lion shows, the 4d Theatre, the dinosaur exhibit, the sharks, the beluga whales, and so much more!

Nancy Goy

Beluga whales were amazing! Some staff very interactive, some a little grumpy sounding. Sea lion show very cute. Food prices are pricey. Overall a nice visit.

Jon Hayes

Wonderful aquarium. Better than New England in Boston. Sea Lion show was quite funny and full of puns. Being partially outside makes it a great experience on a warm day although the exhibit glass could be cleaner for better viewing. The kids water play area has a small feature with laminar flow which is just the greatest.

Thomas Blakely

Nice little aquarium with a variety of animals, well displayed for viewing. Many are rescues that would not survive in the wild. Good viewing and interaction for us, good care for the animals.

Sue Campbell

The beluga whales were gorgeous and the Sea Lions well trained. We found the map and signs very confusing, and the website where tickets were bought also not easily navigated. Management was quite understandable and refunded costs for closed features (due to end of season). The inside aquarium exhibits were beautiful.

Jacob Downs

It seemed a little expensive but I would definitely say I enjoyed it. I loved the beluga whale exhibit and the sea lion show. I think it is more valuable for people with children because there are a lot of interactive exhibits for them. Keep in mind that my favorite exhibits were outside so sunblock may be a good plan for the fair skinned. I've also heard the Connecticut EBT card holders get in for free and, Seniors, Military, AAA Members, and Law Enforcement, get discounted tickets.

Jake Gallagher

We love the Mystic Aquarium so much that we got a membership. The exhibits are arranged in a loop so it's easy to go through with my three-year-old and still see everything she wants to see before she gets too tired. Must see: sea lion show.

Nicholas Varanelli

While the ride for us is significant my family and I always make time to visit this wonderful place. It may not be the biggest aquarium you can find but it provides a wonderful experience with a wide range of animals and experiences. A traditional day at Mystic Aquarium is great but some of their pay to play experiences can also provide lifetime memory experiences. Feeding a Stingray or high giving a whale are both awesome experiences I would highly recommend!

Psctink

So much fun. Great place for the whole family. Friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Thomas MacLean

Outstanding experience for families and individual human beings alike. Great park, amazing animals, entertaining, informative, with plenty to do and see. The beluga whales are amazing and they love visitors!

Michelle Denault

Wonderful aquarium! Free parking and sea lion show is included in your admission. I love watching the Beluga whales, feeding the rays, and touching the sharks!

Jacqueline Wyer

Its a small aquarium, but has done the best job of not only raising awareness for plastic waste, but is the first aquarium I've seen that actually provides products for people to convert to to start making a small difference. They also have wonderful beluga whales and sea lions. Their gift shop is fantastic--not just toys!! They offer a variety of apparel, home goods, and books!

Tim McLaughlin

Awesome. All of the exhibits are very nice. Animals and fish seem well cared for. Staff is knowledgeable and patient with questions from little kids or big kids like me.

Rasheed Mohammed

The Aquarium is clean and well maintained. About 80% of the Aquarium is outdoors. There are stingrays that you can get close to, the beluga whales, a bird sanctuary, an indoor space where you can pet small sharks in a tank, jellyfish exhibit, turtles and tons of fish to see. The town of Mystic is really nice, quaint. We visited Mystic Drawbridge Ice Cream Shop (which was totally awesome). We were able to see the drawbridge in action which lit up the eyes of all of the young kids nearby.

Tim Jackewich

Great small aquarium. They have a lot of attractions for a smaller aquarium, including a sea lion show and multiple interactive exhibits. Good commitment to marine animal rescue and rehabilitation. My only complaint was the admission price was very high.

Katherine Ferland

Mystic aquarium is a great place to visit for a day with family or friends. Although, we visited on a saturday and it was quite busy, buying the tickets ahead of time allowed us to walk in almost instantly. Some of the best attractions were the sea lion show, beluga whales, and penguins. Overall, I would recommend visiting Mystic Aquarium.

Chris Beaudry

I really enjoyed the Aquarium. How could you not. I enjoyed the seal show, and all the exhibits we saw. It is a really nice place to take your family.

Vicky Schmoeller

Lots of fun. Dinosaur display..what fun. Plenty to see at the aquarium. Excellent sea lion show.

Ian Clark

We love it! Even though we live an hour away, we have an annual membership because it's worth it if you visit three times a year. Our three-and-a-half-year-old absolutely loves going there to see the belugas, penguins, and sea lions. The new dinosaur exhibit looks great, too

Paul Yoes

Great place. Large and diverse. We really loved the interactive exhibits.

Tracey K Denholm

The beluga encounter program was fantastic, I wouldn’t of visited the aquarium otherwise. Excellent staff and lots to see. Can get very crowded at times during the summer. The bird area isn’t really worth visiting. Tons of parking and little shopping village right across the street.

Tim Odum

World class. The MA has 3 beluga whales, all white. It has penguins, frogs, fish, sharks, starfish, sea lions, snakes, and other creatures. Some tanks are interactive. Watch out for polar bears. Plan to spend hours here, if not all day. It's a bit pricey, so make it worth it. You can purchase food, drinks, and gifts. There are some shows. We experienced the show with the sea lions.

Bill Campbell

There are multiple hands on interactive and touch tank opportunities. I enjoyed the California Sea Lion show. I feel like it was more about enrichment for the animals then entertainment for the guests. That's not a bad thing, and it was fun too. My family with older teens and adults spent about 3.5 hours and saw most of it except the films.

Stephanie Ruzycky

Great aquarium. We had a wonderful time. A bit smaller than expected, but they have a lot of exhibits both inside and out. We purchased our tickets online and were able to skip the line. Loved the Baluga whales, penguins, and sea lions. My son was able to touch a shark. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and the aquarium is very clean.

William Hollister

Fun exhibits and some hands on exhibits for smaller kids. 4D experience was an abridged movie but was good fun. You can get really close to Penguins and Belugas, which also have underwater viewing. Underwater viewing for sea lions was good too, but I did not go to the sea lion show. Great for a few hours of entertainment as a family.

Mystic aquarium is a nice place for spending 3-4 hours. Indoor as well as outdoor exhibitions. Not super crowded. In case you are also planning to visit seaport, it's better to get the mystic pass as it turns out to be a cheaper option. Kids 3-8 will enjoy the most.

Beautiful place to go spend the day at with the family or even on a date. Seal shows that they have in various times throughout the day are very entertaining. Animals are beautiful and overall just a very well worth time. Across from mystic is mystic village where they have various stores, alot natural based products. Also restaurants and etc. Will definitely be visiting again!

Always have such a great time here! Night a season pass for year round visits! Two visits pays for the pass! Beluga whales are my favorite exhibit!

This is generally a good place to visit but I mentioned some maintenance issues. The indoor exhibition was interesting however some fish tanks were dirty and the huge tank in the middle that could be a beautiful focal point did not have enough lighting. It was dark and gloomy and fish looked pale and lethargic. First I thought they were albino but what if they just got pale because of lack of natural light? :) Coral reef looks it’s best under the sunlight and so is the fish. Lack of light simply destroyed the beauty of the exhibit and let some brown algae grow inside. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The show with trained sea lions was interesting. The Mystic aquarium is relatively small however the huge part of is taken by a restaurant. I wish this place could be used to accommodate some animals for one more interesting exhibition. However food seems to be more profitable. :) Annoying billboards are placed around the area suggesting that it is time to go and get some food. And to leave one has to pass through the huge souvenir store to get outside. Kind of “in you face” marketing I would say. Whales, sea lions and other animals looked good but I got a feeling that this place needs a little TLC.

Such a wonderful aquarium. The animals are happy and clearly well cared for. We had such a great time checking out all of the interesting creatures inside and watching the bigger ones outside play. One of the beluga whales took a liking to us, and we got to see what echo-location sounds/feels like through plexiglass several times. It was quite cool.

Unfortunately the day we visited was a very hot summer day with many school children visiting and school buses and the facility was extremely crowded and very hot but the exhibits were very enlightening and of course the gift shop was my place of Refuge because the air conditioning was great. Try to visit at a time of year when the temperature is more moderate and wear your favorite walking shoes.

So fun and educational. Easy for us to get around with the wheelchair they had, for Suzy with her foot in a cast. Lots of great exhibits and we loved the seal show. All of the employees were polite, friendly and helpful.

Nice place to introduce kids to ocean animals as well as marine conservation efforts. It's not too big either and takes only a couple of hours to see all the exhibits and the sea lion show. The only issue I have is the difference in price …

had such a great time. I did the beluga whale encounter which I received as a gift and it was extremely worth it. This place is very interactive and everyone is super friendly.

Should not cost $30+ for what it is. Not a very impressive aquarium. Not stroller friendly at all. Workers are rude and especially make you feel bad if you park your stroller anywhere and will tell you to move it (even if it’s out of the …

Museum is on the smaller side for the price youre paying. We were able to see everything in under 2 hours. Not very many exciting animals. Mostly just fish and a few small sharks. The sea lion show was phenomenal though.
