REVIEWS OF Cheyenne Mountain Zoo IN Colorado

David

This is by far one of the best zoos that I've ever seen. Their events for holloween and Christmas time are fantastic. They are always building new exhibits and improving existing features. Their giraffe experience is absolutely amazing. There is nothing like feeding a giraffe while they reach out there foot long tongues toward you, it makes for great pictures. They now have a wide variety of food and drink stops throughout the whole zoo so you are sure to find something you'll like. They even have a "sky ride" ski lift that takes you to the highest point in the zoo for amazing views. Just make sure you bring good walking shoes because it is a bit hilly. They do have little shuttles that can give you a ride for a buck or two. Either way it is completely worth it for this fantastic unique experience.

Rick Stalker

Tons of fun! This place is a must see. Great habitats. Great food with amazing views and friendly staff. If you're in town I 100% recommend visiting this zoo.

Regina Mundell

Nice zoo. You can see lots of different animals and get in a good walk. Make sure to see Will Roger's shrine of the sun it is included with your entrance fee.

Linda Kelazil

Great zoo! Easy to do in a day, even an afternoon. All of the classic fun animals to see. Well organized and well done exhibits. Unfortunately when I went, their aquatic center was still under construction, so many exhibits were unavailable but the improvements look very promising! The gorillas were especially fun. Very informative and helpful to understand not just the animals there but also ways we can help protect wildlife and their habitats.

John Oberholzer

The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is close up and personal; and they work to provide a good animal living space. It's a big style operation that lets you feel part of it and all the animals. Plus they have the best big animals to see. You might want to call and ask how parking is first.

Sarah Peters

Absolutely the best zoo experience I have ever had. The location is beautiful and historic. I love how the zoo’s architecture really works with the mountain. I was able to do Giraffe and elephant feeding for less than 20$. I definitely recommend visiting the Will Rogers Shrine of the Sun. The view is incredible.

Jacqueline Wilson

Put on your walking shoes for this place! It is literally built on the mountain so you do have some uphill adventures. But all in all, I loved it animals look well taken care of, the have many interactions points with the animals as well. Food was good but a little pricey about the average price you find in most theme parks. I recommend the "feed the giraffe and feed the elephant" experience.

Brendan Janssen

I really enjoyed how interactive this little zoo is. Sure, the Denver zoo is a bit larger, but Cheyenne let's you feed giraffes, elephants, and other animals. It was way more interactive and the exhibits seemed to be well kept.

Sean Osborne

This is a fantastic zoo. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The view was amazing and the exhibits were great

Rick Henry

This place is a real gem. Great number of animals in an extremely clean environment. I've been to a number of zoo's and this by far was the most enjoyable.

Carlos Escobar

One of the best zoos I’ve ever been to. Great for the kids. They absolutely loved feeding the giraffes. Note; it’s a bit of a hike but well north it.

Kenzie Reynolds

By far one of the most unique and exciting zoos I have ever visited. The exhibits are always so interesting and eye catching; they also do a great job of educating about animals and the environment. The location is also super awesome!

Christy T

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is a fun and adventurous place to visit. They really make it easy to interact with animals, much more so than other zoos I've visited. We got to feed giraffes, goats, chickens, and budgies. We got to touch snakes, lizards, giraffes, and wallabies. The zoo is very good at making you feel close to animals. There is a fair amount of walking up and down hills here, but they have a shuttle that can take you around the zoo for only $2 for the whole day. It's amazing to see how they've incorporated the terrain of the mountain to make cool habitats. Definitely visit here if you're in Colorado Springs!

Benjamin Brown

One of my favorite zoos in the world. Where else do the views get better and better as you climb, along with seeing and interacting with neat animals. The giraffes have always been amazing, and the new elephant area is great to view them from as well. I don't think I've ever been as close to some animals as they let you get here, which is awesome, and there's a ton of food options now. The membership is totally worth it

Steph Ann

Really cool zoo in the mountains with the largest giraffe breeding in the country (or one of the largest). There was a 2 week old giraffe when I went! The views of the animals with mountains behind it is awesome. Note that this is very hilly- they do have a golf cart for people with handicaps if needed

Aprile Denny

I went for the second time today and had a splendid time. It was MUCH better than when I went last summer. I was too late to feed elephants but feeding the giraffes and the little birds was so much fun. Most of the animals were out and the zoo feels so incorporated in the natural environment, it's awesome.

Carl Cooley

Really impressed with this zoo. Haven't been here in almost 10 years and can't wait to go back. A must visit for anyone in the area.

krisnuda z

This was my first time in Denver, Colorado and visiting the zoo was an awesome experience. It is huge and you have to be prepared to walk a lot. It took me around 2 hours to see all the animals, and they are still working in the hippopotamus and

Kayla Fujinaka

What a great zoo! The zoo is just spotless and well constructed and you can tell they work very hard to keep it that way! The elephant house is incredible. We loved coming here and would definitely come back!

Keara McIver

We came a long way so my husband could live his dream of petting a giraffe. It was well worth it. I was very surprised at how beautiful this zoo actually is. The giraffes were so fun and friendly but the entire zoo was amazing. This zoo has so many interactive places inside. We even got to see the wolves feeding. Just when you think it cant get better, you ride up the side of the mountain on a ski lift and see animals below. At the top is a look out point and the ride down is even better with views from the side of the mountain all the way down to the small town below. Super friendly staff and some yummy food are all just icing on the cake. You will love Cheyenne Mountain Zoo whether you are a family with little ones; or just a kid at heart.I recommend the gift shop as well, so many fun gifts.

Brunza LaBore

We love this Zoo, my wife and I have been coming up here for years, the staff is always super friendly and they take excellent care of the animals. You can tell they truly care about the well being of the animals. My daughter just turned 1 and loves giraffes so we had to take her up here so she could feed the giraffes and pet them. They do all kinds of trainings with the animals as well, they have a black rhino that walks with the trainers, and you can feed the elephants as well. This is a great place to take the family for a day.

John Bradley Wilson

You walk in and literally a giraffe eats out of your hand. How can you go wrong! In all honesty though, after my family and I's first visit we bought a season pass and started donating to this amazing zoo and non-profit. It's a must visit for any family living in or visiting the area!

Savannah Bailey

Best zoo ever! So many interactive exhibits and they care more about rehabilitation and keeping animals in their natural habitats than they do making money. You will leave the zoo with a new found appreciation for the animals that you encounter. Don’t bother with the food court though, save your money and pack a picnic! There’s an outdoor eating area.

Donna Tatkenhorst

Would be helpful if they would have higher visibility of "peak" pricing. My friend and I waited in line for some time and as soon as we got to the ticket gate were told we would have to get into a new line. A line that, by this time was quite long. We chose to just leave. So disappointed.

Dawn Drake

Great zoo! Just a little disappointed that the billboard said 'penguins and hippos 2019' and it's still not ready. I do understand it's still 2019 but its October and the sign has been up all year. Also, disappointed that exhibits starting closing an hour before the zoo closed.

Ashlee Harrold

Wonderful zoo that gets better every day. If you have not been in a while you are missing out. New buildings and exhibits opening so often each time I go I am at risk of getting lost. So many baby animals, and there conservation efforts are on full display. If in town for vacation or live in the area a great way to spend a afternoon with family or friends.

Brenda Yesenia

This zoo is so amazing. I enjoyed going here and so did the little ones. They have a variety of animals unlike other zoos and the drive to here is so beautiful. Definitely recommend.

Lisa Baker

Wonderful zoo and Beautiful grounds! I have been there several times getting the opportunity to feed the rhino and elephant (my personal favorite)! Awesome to take my son here for the first time who loved feeding the giraffes and the kid play area. All the staff is friendly and willing to answer your questions. Being so interactive really connects and unites animal lovers to strive to learn more and protect.

Ruth Claybrooks

Loved it. Up close viewing of animals. Group of adults ages 45 to 70 went together and thought it was a great experience.

Michele Fletcher

Loved the natural habitats, and all the animals were out! There have been many improvements since first going to the zoo 20+ years ago. Great experience, good for families!

Teanna P

I haven’t been to the zoo in a while but it was a great experience going there today. I am from out of town and I would recommend this zoo to anyone visiting Colorado. They are expanding and doing wonderful things with the location. Although it was beyond hot I enjoyed the experience. Wonderful staff by the way!

Fahad Afeef

One of the most scenic places you could visit. The animals are well taken care of and always clean. Sometimes a day is just not enough for the visit. Two thumbs up.

Ann5825

the shuttle could be a must if you're visiting from sea level. this entire town is over 6k altitude. it's real, this town is high. big time saver to take the shuttle as high as it goes & continue up from there. ask questions, the shuttle drivers have radios, if they don't know they know someone who does. there's always something to learn for all ages. habitates evolve for more spacious homes. enrichment for the animals is fun for the animals & fun for us to watch. do yourself a favor, visit the website & learn all the zoo is doing for animals all over the world. wonderful caring teamwork by volunteers & zoo employees. will go back soon.

Michael Bland

Hands down my favorite zoo. The exhibits are great, love the layout, but there is a bit of an incline if you have trouble walking. Staff is somewhat fussy, but you can avoid them. The shire is a must see too, don't skip it! Great views and interesting architecture.

Allson Grijalva

So beautiful!! The view alone and to be a zoo makes it even better. Everyone was so nice. Be ready to walk or if in need (like I am) the can give you a lift. An you must try the food, so

Kershia Mukoro

Great friendly staff and the zoo itself is amazing. Fantastic views and well cared for animals. Feeding the giraffes was a brilliant experience and I will definitely be back.

Marie Resch

You can tell the animals are happy and well taken care of. The workers are friendly, helpful, and the zoo is beautiful. Their lift gives a breathtaking view of both the animals and scenery of Colorado. You can really tell that the staff care about the facility, it is spotless. You can also tell they love the animals but their health and the way the staff interacts with them.

Michael DeNinno

Great time at a fun zoo.The animals are all well taken care of and the zoo staff is very friendly and shared a lot of information about the animals and enclosures. Clean, welcoming, and overall it was a great time. We'll continue to go back.

Allen Suhr

Fantastic place to visit. Its an annual stop for us on our yearly vacation. Make it a point to also visit the Will Rogers Shrine above the zoo. Been here at least ten times before and will come at least that many more times.

Andrew Roth

Love the zoo. We have a membership and try to come at least every couple of weeks. The cooling misters placed throughout the park on a hot day are a brilliant idea and definitely make it bearable.

Erik Justesen

This is a great zoo. Really enjoy going with the family. Wear comfortable shoes seeing as your walking a lot. They have done several improvements in the zoo. It is expensive for food so bring in your own if your on a budget. Ohh the shaved ice is not shaved ice it's a snow cone. It wasn't very good so save your money. All the staff we interacted with were great. Very friendly and loved there job.

Travel BPC

One of only 2 Mountain Zoos in the world, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo boasts the largest herd of Giraffes in North America! The giraffe enclosure is beautiful and lets you get up close and eye level with these amazing and graceful animals. For a small fee you can purchase lettuce and feed them too! All of the animals looked very clean, healthy, and happy. The enclosures were clean well kept. I visited on a cool fall afternoon and the animals were very active. Bears, Tiger and elephants were all playing with various items. The new reptile area is beautiful and looks more like an art exhibit, but look close among the glass stones and vases to find the snakes and lizards comfortably blending in to the "art"!

Meghan Thompson

Love this zoo. I am from Denver area, so normally I go to the Denver zoo. But this is now my favorite zoo. We went during the most cold time of year when it was freezing to walk around, so I definitely want to come back. This zoo is beautiful. I love the Will Rogers Shrine as well.

Kale Frann

The coolest zoo ever made! Built on the side of a mountain, you get to see a lot of the animals uninhibited by their confinements. There's a lot of interactive activities with the animals scheduled regularly, and for an extra fee, you can personally meet and handle certain more social animals! Many volunteers and employees gives the illusion the animals are well taken care of. Made eye contact with a gorilla and got to feed a billy goat. Great experience for all ages!

Kristen Kaar

I always love this zoo! I can't wait to see the the new hippo building/enclosure this fall. They always seem to be working on something new! I would highly recommend to anyone.

Eitan Kilchevsky

It may not be the biggest zoo nor one with a huge selection, but it is well organized and creates a unique experience for kids and adults. And it teaches preservation. Not to be missed!

Dustin Rodriguez

Great zoo!! Had a blast... Especially when there was a 4 week old giraffe! But the food at the Bear place was good. Pricey, but good. The skyride was cool... the view was beautiful. Not much to do at the top, but again, the view was amazing. It did feel like no matter which direction you are heading, it's up hill! Ha! Great zoo. Lotta animals out and about

schettleraa

This is a cool zoo it is actually on the side of a mountain. So be prepared to hike. They have lots of opportunities to get close to and even fees the animals plus great views of Colorado Springs and the Plains.

Shannah Ortiz

We love Cheyenne mountain zoo, and the skyride. It's a great workout too for the whole family, everyone is always friendly and knowledgeable. Having two kids with autism, it's great when the staff interacts with my kids and they are patient with the endless questions. I always appreciate the kindness shown to us when we go to this zoo.

Frank Kesterson

Zoo on a mountain side! Very cool! A one of a kind experience you must do! Just remember to take your own water bottle. Water in Zoo is 5.00

Rob Whiteside

Greatest Zoo experience. First time here. It was amazing! Even with construction still great! Can't wait for the new exhibit.

Llathrum Marine Mechanic

The animals are well taken care of. He pace is clean the people are nice. There's good food here also Depending on the time of the year will decide what is open

Elin Williams

Great Zoo to visit. Recomend getting an annual pass so you can go back multiple time to see everything. Great hike around!

Nichelle Kinney

Love love this zoo! It’s the best place to take my littles. We love the giraffe exhibit and feeding them is so fun!

Cindi Baumgartner

Nice zoo! We LOVED the large giraffe exhibit and had fun feeding them. It was nice that the zoo is more compact that other large zoos. We were hoping to see a bit more variety of animals, but what we saw was good. The parking was quite a ways from the gate (didn't see any handicapped spaces).

ChillyWilly 0883

Love this Zoo. Animal interactions are better than any other Zoo I have been to. Giraffes and Wallabies were up close and personal today, with the bears being active in the water and playing. Cannot wait for the penguins to be back home and the new exhibit to open up.

Andrea Brown

We are from St. Louis which has one of the best zoos in the country so we had high expectations. Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is a great adventure. I was so impressed with how interactive the zoo was and how close you are able to get to the animals. Such a neat and unique place! If you go, I highly recommend feeding the giraffes!

Brooke Kayla

Wonderful zoo where there is lots of interactions with animals. Lots of walking, so be prepared for that. We loved our visit and definitely want to go again!

James E

The best zoo in the world and I don't even have to go to any other zoos to say that because it's truly amazing! I fed a real giraffe and other animals. It's a little pricey, buts it's a once a lifetime opportunity and has changed my life for the better. Animals that you have fed become a part of your soul and giraffes are now my spirit animal. Thanks for helping me have the best vacation in my life so far. Lots of hills, but please go and feed the nicest giraffes in the world. Totally worth it!

Lauren Stewart

The zoo was a lot of fun and with animals wandering around (peacocks, turkeys) and the Wallaby family was just a foot away from the walking path, the whole family loved it! The giraffe herd was huge and it wad very affordable for the family to feed them.

Christina Bustamante

My family and I always love going to the zoo. They have great staff, who take time to speak with the Kids and share the knowledge they know. It's always clean and full of events. Food is great, and love the way they care for the animals. Sky ride is always amazing with breathtaking views. I would recommend to anyone visiting Colorado this is a must on the list! The zoo is like no other that I ever been to! Beautiful

Isabel Baca

Very friendly staff. Beautiful animals and scenery especially if you go on the skyline. I highly recommend Cheyenne mountain zoo. You also interact with certain animals not only the giraffes. Great place

Sarah

Liked the variety of animals and the fact they posted times of feeding and special things. That was nice. The zoo was kept clean and the staff was friendly. We went during the week and thought the price was fair. On the weekend end though they charge like $8 more. Sad. I get it it's about $. But the during the week rate which if I remember was $17.

Calvin Burkhart

Love coming to the zoo with the family. Always a good time, great reptile exhibit. Smaller zoo with a pretty large variety of animals. Plenty of restrooms and elevators if you have little ones with strollers. Highly recommend coming to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo! Kids always love being amazed by all the animals here! Thank a zookeeper!

Ron Davco

Such a neat place! Lots of animals, great variety if them as well. Worth the price of admission. Only suggestion is to GET THERE EARLY! Traffic gets bad later on in the day, especially on weekends!!!

Heather E

Best zoo I've ever been to! Beautifully maintained. Amazing habitats. Every employee we encountered or spoke with was very helpful and kind. We had lunch at the Grizzly Grill. They have vegetarian and vegan options. Bring cash and feed the giraffes, elephants, rhino, chickens, goats and more!! So.much.fun!!!

Ronn Black

Best zoo in Colorado, hands down. You should be physically fit to endure the the steep inclines and declines of the landscape. But I loved it and the kids did too! I got them a wagon to roll around in or they would have been super tired, super early. Try to get there at a decent time as well because their parking lot fills up quick...

Danika Birkes

Great zoo experience! Never been to one like it before. Would highly recommend. :) just be sure to bring water

Britt V

There is just something special about the zoo being on the mountain side! We love feeding the giraffes and seeing all the animals in a somewhat more natural environment! We like to go early since it’s a long drive from Denver and spend the whole day exploring!! There is also a lot of interactive stuff for kids!!

Eve Wolter

I really can't say enough good things. They take great care with the animals. We always seem to see something new every time we go. Beautiful views too.

Taier-Chad Parsnow

A great zoo, with a unique layout. The animals seem healthy and happy, the exhibits are spacious and well maintained. The foods options are well varied, and of decent quality. The highlight of the park seems to be the giraffes, which you can feed. This is near the entrance, which is a bit of an early peak, but the entire experience is enjoyable and worthwhile. The Temple is included in your admission, and...while a bit of a surreal exhibit, has amazing views.

serina Serrano

Love this zoo wish I was closer to go more often! Took my 1 yr old daughter here for the first time and she really enjoyed it even feed the giraffes ( wasn't to sure about it though)

Dianne Walck

I need to begin this by saying I love zoos! However, this Zoo did not seem to have the variety of animals that I expected! We viewed many cages that appeared that the animals were sleeping and seemed to be either depressed or just too hot to even look alive. The giraffes were absolutely beautiful though, and the new baby was adorable, but the elephants did not look as healthy as many elephants I've seen before. As I stated at the beginning, I love zoos! But was disappointed in this one. After posting this review, I received a statement from the zoo explaining the situations I was concerned about. I was especially thrilled to know the elephants are in their senior years and are doing great! I changed the stars from 3 to 5 because I was assured things weren't as they seemed to me! I look forward to returning one day very soon!

Aaron Zull

This zoo strikes a perfect balance between size, quality, education and interaction! We spent less than 3 hours there and saw everything and also had lunch (which was surprisingly normally priced). There is a lot of effort by the zoo to enrich the lives of the animals in their care. I didn't see any pacing or other compulsive behavior. I also like that the zoo gives visitors actionable information. The display on palm oil was both interesting and compelling. It is clear that the zoo is trying to make a positive impact on animals outside as well as inside their zoo.

Carlos Jimenez

I went there with my girlfriend we had the best time. Feeding the giraffes is an unique experience that anyone would enjoy. Also, the animals look in good condition and they actually care about them.

Jessica Neff

Absolutely stunning zoo! We are here from CT and made this our last day trip and regret nothing. The park is very well kept and clean. The animals were very well taken care of and have nice big areas to be in. We were blown away by this place! Highly recommend!

Andrew Solow

This zoo is incredible. The environments for the animals were so cool. Lots of nature feel to everything. Don't really feel like you're at the zoo. Definitely worth the price to become a member. Can't wait to try the zoo after dark!! Will definitely be back. Oh and feeding Giraffes was a life changing experience!!

Stephen Vick

Very clean and well organized, with friendly staff. Animal all looked healthy. Undergoing some repairs from storm damage but it doesn't affect your visit I suggest the shuttle rides be purchased ($2.00 for all day) it's easier to shuttle to the top of the zoo and walk do Hill to visit each section

Joshua Arendt

Of the dozen or so zoos we've had the pleasure of visiting- this one takes the cake. Amazing exhibits with varying degrees of interaction suitable for all ages. Our little guy loves feeding the Giraffes and Petting the Wallabies! With affordable season passes and a free flowing layout- we're here at least once a week. Very excited to see the addition of the Penguins and Hippos coming soon! The views and the food are just a couple more reasons this is a cant miss when visiting Colorado Springs!

Joshua Cordle

Feed giraffes, elephants, chickens, and a number of other animals. The enclosures are huge, but the exposure to the animals is brilliantly done. This is by far one of the best zoos I've ever been to. And they have an excellent focus and record on conservation for troubled species. Absolutely recommend!

Paul Shin

This zoo is bar none the best zoo I've ever been to. The animals don't look abused or neglected. They actually look thrilled to be a part of it. There are wallabies hopping around freely. There are grizzly bears holding their own legs and posing to the cameras to get some grape snacks. There's a parakeet bird house where you can go in and feed them seeds on a stick. If you are skilled and lucky enough, they will land on your shoulder and hang out for a while. I've been to a lot of public zoo's and perhaps that's why I'm more used to watching animals suffering. Maybe zoo's should only be private. The employees are smiling and are very excited to work with the animals. Again, the best zoo I've ever been to in my life. This place is a must visit if you're visiting Colorado Springs!

Michael Cooley

Really enjoyed the zoo, it brought back memories of my childhood. Always loved the zoo. We especially enjoyed watching the orangutans. There was a young yearling that had a lot of energy. Very entertaining.

chrystal Bellaire

Always a pleasure to visit this zoo... feeding the animals are my children's favorite. You can pack a lunch so i would recommend that.

Shannon Amundson-Knittel

Great zoo it is under construction right now. So if you going to see penguins your out of luck. Put on your walking shoes and enjoy the day. Bring your cooler have a picnic, or try one of there places to grab a meal. They do offer rides for a small fee for the entire day to ride in a golf cart driven by zoo staff for those who can't walk it.

Nancy Land

Not handicap-friendly. Nice animals but in small pens. "Rhino pee" dumps a bucket of water over unsuspecting passersby, which I found annoying since it happened to me, drenching me and my walker and everything I had with me. Otherwise, zoo staff seemed passionate and knowledgeable. And seems they're trying to increase habitat space. But an unpleasant memory overall for me due to the physical strain and the rhino pee.

Philip Smith

This was a great experience. Hadn't been to a Zoo for years. Amazing variety of animals and interactive exhibits. Just blown away the the Zoo was built into the side of the mountain!

Kristina Cirrincione

AMAZING, this zoo has something for everyone! Where to start? The location and layout of the zoo is absolutely incredible, the animals are gorgeous and very well taken care of, there are so many educational and fun interactions for kids of all ages and plenty for adults to enjoy! A must see for sure ( make sure to arrive early, this zoo is huge and has many attractions, start early so you can see all the animals because many nap mid day) we had a blast and will be back, The Cirrincione Family

Nick Weinhardt

It is always nice to go back to something you visited as a kid. The park is still in amazing shape and I can't wait for the new enclosure to be opened. The park staff were friendly and helpful and the food was good too! A lot of good picture opportunities!

Leah Musquiz

Beautiful zoo, but be prepared to walk up hill ALOT or you can pay for a tram ride to the top of the hill and walk your way back down. That's what we ended up doing and I would recommend!

Helen Valencia

This zoo is great! Lots of animals and lots of things to see and do while there. Plenty of shade throughout the park on those hot summer days.

Traci Sheley-Gomez

A beautiful, well taken care of zoo in a very gorgeous, mountainous part of Colorado! They have a ride service provided, at a minimal cost, for those who may have a difficult time walking throughout the entire zoo. They have several restaurants/places to eat throughout the park. We really enjoyed feeding the giraffes & my kids enjoyed the noisy monkeys & birds, to name a few. I liked the lift that takes you above the zoo for a nice aerial view.

Bob Bostwick

A great place to spend the day. The exhibits are well done, with a great diversity of animals. I would recommend going to the website beforehand, as they post a schedule of the show times, so you can plan out your visit. The shows are worth seeing, informative and fun. Pack a lunch as the food is expensive and isn't that great, better than Chuck E Cheese, but who wants to eat that.

Trish Delaney

Best Zoo I have ever been to visit. You can feed the giraffes and the staff are very knowledgeable. I will have to get an Annual Pass.

Steve Mateo

We always enjoy coming here. Even with our annual family passes, we still go on a monthly basis. Our two kids never get tired and are always excited to go to. The staff are always friendly and willing to educate any curious folks and I cannot recommend this place enough.

Erica Anderson

Hands down one of my favorite zoo's. The giraffe exhibit is the best! I love that you are able to be so close & feed them lettuce. The prices to feed the giraffe's & the bird's in the Budgie Buddies exhibit are great! The add-on for the Skyride is worth it if you have never done it before. I also recommend driving up to the Will Roger's shrine after you are done with your visit, as it's included in your tickets! The view is stunning.

Kevin W.

Best zoo ever with very neat location on the mountain and a lot of cool animals. You can even feed the giraffes for an additional fee. There's a gondola ride you can take for an additional fee too (with an incredible view overlooking the city). Overall relaxing day with good restaurants on site.

Mission Trust

Been coming here since I was a kid. Brought my own kids here, of course. Parents take kids to the zoo. But now with the new upgraded facilities and habitats, it seems like more than a "zoo". It's more of an immersive adventure park now. The enclosures are more like natural environments and all of the buildings for humans, like concessions, are updated and modern. I was invited to a special event and the catering was 5 star! The food was great and so was the view from a restaurant that I never knew existed. But by far my favorite part of this place is, as always, feeding the giraffes. I could do that all day! What a wonderful place.

Lisa Kulik

Best zoo that we been too. Beautiful scenery all around. Very clean and highly maintained. Animals are close. And loved the "cold air" fans through out the zoo and option to fill water bottles along the way.

Katy B.

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is unique and a perfect way to spend the afternoon. Be ready to walk up some hills (there are options for stairs, ramps, and elevators) but the elevation adds to the experience and helps make the enclosures feel more natural. You can feed the giraffes for $3 or $5 (cash only) and it is a must! Moms, there are very few enclosures your little one can't look into while still buckled into a stroller, they are either glass or wire fencing. Great lookouts and lots of animals to enjoy.

Rebecca P

This is the best zoo I have ever been to. I am obsessed with giraffes and you can interact and feed them. Plus they give the animals choices and never make them do things they do not want to. Always friendly staff and keepers who have no problem answering any questions. Go on the sky skyride too fir the best view of Colorado Springs.

Jake H

Wow! This has got to be one of the most beautiful zoos I’ve been to. Also the exhibits are almost all brand new and really well done. The staff is super friendly and their are a lot of scenic dining options as well. Only thing is there are a lot of hidden upcharges. Every animal feeding will cost you a few bucks and the chair lift is $4. But overall very cool zoo.

Samuel Cary

A little out of the way if you're not from the area but in a great scenic location. Animals look well kept and fed, lots of space to roam. Prices were good to comparable facilities. Well staffed and a large child's area to entertain the kids and relax. There's a lot of walking but also a lot to see.

Kevin Jones

This is a fantastic zoo. I admire how well laid out it was and easy to navigate. The zoo is broken up into different "colored" sections on the map. There are several numbers painted on the trail where these colors intersect. This trail system made it easy to find just where you are and where to turn next. The exhibits are well made and blend seamlessly into the natural beauty of the area. We were lucky enough to visit the day after the birth of a giraffe. If you are not from Colorado I recommend doing the sky lift to get a great view of the surroundings.

Kayla Gallup

My grandpa took my daughter and I and it was amazing! We got to hand feed giraffes, see free roaming wallabies and ride a sky lift. The Eagles were HUGE, and responded when I whistled. And the view! It's hard to find words to Express how beautiful the view is.

Elvis Colucci

This is a great Zoo! I think the highlight was feeding the giraffes lettuce. You buy it right there so it is safe for them and convenient for you. Plus it makes for great photo ops ! The newest addition to the Zoo giraffes is baby "Vivian" what a cutie! We had an awesome time and will definitely be back to see the penguins and the hippos who were enroute to the zoo at the time of our visit.

Patrick Martinez

We love this zoo. One of the most unique zoos we've been to and we love our zoos. Took our niece, nephew, and daughter here abd they loved it. Only thing I would say is accept credit cards to buy lettuce ti feed the giraffe and put the lettuce station further away or make a designated line. It's always a mess there with people trying to feed and buy in the same area.

I wish I could give more than a 5 star review. This place was amazing and the best zoo my wife and I have ever been to. Great experience getting to feed the giraffes and an elephant. Love the conservation aspect and also enjoyed that it was built into a mountain. Beautiful view and lots of animals to see. Some of the zoo was closed for maintenance so we missed a few animals, but overall a wonderful experience. Prepare for lots of walking, but they do have scuttles and lots of sitting places.

Roman Peek

This place is phenomenal. I read that it is one of the top zoos in the country and let me tell you, it is. The abundance of animals and the habitats are a great feature of this zoo. They are constantly working on adding other exhibits and developing the existing ones. The cost of admission is also very reasonable and goes to maintaining the facility and health of the animals.

Jinan Chaarani

Best zoo in Colorado. Amazing animals. Easy short walk to see everything, which is great for toddlers before they have to eat or nap. Lots of wild animals with close encounters. Will definitely be back. Our son loved the bird encounter.

Frances Anderson

This zoo has a wide variety of animals. While much of the travel is uphill the zoo offers a tram for just a few dollars. It also provides misting fans for hot days so you can cool off. The zoo has a large giraffe population and allows the public to feed them lettuce. The lettuce must be purchased from the zoo, costs 5 or 10 dollars but is worth every penny. Giraffes are friendly and can be petted. The gift shop has a good selection of products with the expected prices. This zoo is worth visiting, but I would expect that the animals would be easier to see on a cooler day. We went on a hot day and many of the animals were not easy to see.

Karen Bondurant

Is pretty easy to get around; I loved feeding the Giraffes and Elephant. The changes that have been made are great!! The fans that sprayed a mist are a good addition. They helped a lot since was so hot. A lot to see and do. It is accessible for all.

This zoo offers visitors several up close experiences with the animals. For example, you can walk with the wallabys (penguin exhibit coming soon), the peacocks roam free in the entire zoo (mostly hanging out near the picnic area), and you can feed birds, elephants, giraffes, and more. The "my big backyard" exhibit has chickens, koi, rabbits, and other animals that people find near their homes (typically not in a zoo). The views from the mountain are spectacular, but be prepared for steep hills. They have a golf cart type shuttle that will take you around for an extra charge. Get there early in the morning or you will have to wait to park (sometimes an hour or more just to get to the parking lot!). The animal enclosures are set in such a way that even when the animals are lounging or sleeping, visitors can see them. I've been to other zoos where the animals always seem to be hiding, but that's not the case here. We bought a membership and it has definitely been worth the cost. Each time we visit, we see something new or different (it's hard to see everything in one trip). There are plenty of food options, but it can get expensive. You can pack a picnic, however, and enjoy a view of Colorado Springs from their outdoor picnic tables next to the carousel. Overall, this is a great zoo and fun for animal lovers of all ages.

Max Van Middendorp

It is beautiful! It is total fun! It is friendly! And the gorgeous animals are so up-close! Love it!

Bryan Anderson

This is the best zoo I have ever been too. The layout is great. The animals have amazing enclosures. Feeding the giraffes is an experience to remember. The diversity of animals is huge. The food court was great too. Good options and the food we had was great. We will go back as often as we can. I absolutely recommend taking a trip to this zoo. Disclaimer: There are a lot of hills so come prepared to walk some hills. And if you get a chance. Ride the cable trolley to the top of the mountain if you have time too. The view from up there is breathtaking.

The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is a nice place. It is very clean, and the views are amazing. The paths go up and down some steep hills. Feeding fresh lettuce to the giraffes is a fun for all experience, so is feeding the budgies on a stick. The animals look well taken care of. There are play places for kids. The food court has a good selection of fresh, affordable entrees. You can also find nice restaurants and coffee shops.

Lana O'Neil

Wonderful place for all. Have a membership and use it a lot. If you love animals, looking for beautiful panoramas and some hiking that's the place to visit

Robyn Klein

One of the best zoos I’ve ever been today. Several ways to interact with the animals. Definitely take advance of feeding the giraffes and the birds. My five year old and I had a blast.

Andrew Bychinski

Probably the neatest zoo I have been to. Feeding the giraffes was fantastic and inexpensive. They have a wide range of animals. I can see it being tough for people that have issues walking up hills but they offer shuttles to take you to the top.

Kyra Carter

The highest zoo in America has awesome views and beautiful landscaping. The giraffe exhibit is a must! You can purchase lettuce to feed the giraffes and watch how they interact with the crowd. The reptile exhibit was really unique in that the reptiles are not just in cages but are in works of art! Many other animal exhibits but this zoo provides a great overall experience!

Dawn B

This is an absolutely amazing zoo. I just love it!! Enclosures are beautiful. My only concern is that employees don’t seem welcoming. For example, there is a second ticket station to check receipts from the entry booth. Even though we are members, I feared being frisked.

John Joseph Gera

One of the better zoos that I have been to. The habitats where set up so that you could see the animals from many angles and felt more natural than most of the other zoos that I've been to. It is rather pricey to get in though.

Jerry Lovett

Really cool zoo to visit. Very unique in its own charming way. Worth a visit at least once.

Deborah Barron Brown

This is a really nice zoo. They have a Giraffe exhibit that has a deck so the giraffes can come up to you and you can feed them lettuce that you must purchase. I really like how they used the mountain side to their advantage; many animal enclosures had multiple angles to view from. Besides the animals one of the best features is they didn't try and sell you something after each animal area. No gift kiosks to buy lion stuffed animals or keychains. No overpriced drink stands. They had 1 ice cream stand about 1/3 way through and half way through was an area with a bunch of restaurants. We went on a Saturday morning when they opened and we got a parking space. When we left they were shuttling people from an off site parking area. Even though it is on a mountain side I never felt like I was having a hard time walking the inclines because they were subtle. They do have a shuttle that stops along the walkways if you need it.

B'comingFree Vandweller

Honestly hands down the best zoo I’ve ever been to. We enjoyed so much and loved all the interactions with the animals who by the way are healthy and amazing.

T Johnson

This place was pretty good, and actually better than I expected. Enjoyed feeding the giraffes and good variety of animals and enclosures. Nice landscaping as well. Take the skyway in the beginning, it was closed by the time we got there due to rain. I took off 1 point for not having a children's playground that was very engaging. Every other zoo I have been too was better in this regard.

Teresa Shogren

Overall this is a great zoo that supports conservation efforts for animals and their habitats. You can definitely tell the difference between the exhibits that have been redone over the years: they are top notch and very impressive. I look forward to the day that all of the exhibits have been updated, especially the monkey house. In the meantime, I still think it's the nicest zoo I've visited. Ceative fundraising throughout the zoo gives you fun opportunities to feed and interact with the animals. You can't beat the natural setting and the views.

Justin Hood

It's an amazing zoo. Make sure you are ready to walk uphill, a lot. I took my kids and they enjoyed all the activities that were going on. There were definitely lots of animals to see and some to feed and possibly pet. I would absolutely recommend going.

Angelica Farraro

This was a spectacular first time visit. The location is beautiful and the layout is easy to travel. I'll definitely be back for another tour.

Chris Sotraidis

I loved the layout, the choice of animals, and the design of the Zoo in general. The modern design had a flow to it that other older Zoos I've been to have lacked. It's smaller; I was in and out within a couple of hours, but I liked that. The food is pricy, definitely, if you want to feed a family of four here seriously reconsider. The animals appear well taken care of, and the giraffes are truly the best and goofiest part of the Zoo.

Laura Archuleta

The zoo is a wonderful experience! At the Silent Night event, it was amazing to see the wolves and the other animals. We also got to see many of the zoobabies. It was just great to experience the zoo without lots of noise!

Amy Coster

Beautiful grounds! Feeding giraffe exhibit is amazing. Kids loved it. Lots of restaurants to choose from. Definitely worth going again and again.

jay cameron

I didn't feel it was really worth the money. I have been to all kinds of zoos all over the country and it's no different than any of them. The pizza place was really awesome though. But the sky ride I really couldn't see any animals. The leopards were a no-show and so was the black bear. The American Medical Response crew that was there was really awesome with the kids.

David Hawkins

We had a great time at the zoo! The zoo is laid out well and has a lot of great attractions. Feeding the giraffes was a great experience! This zoo offers lots of shade, drinking fountains, and big mist fans which make a hot day not feel so hot.

Lovenya Rifkin

This zoo is the best... super friendly & helpful. Any questions you have they are there to help..can't wait to go back

Drew Collins

Been coming here since I was a kid with family or for school trips. Never realized how nice and cool of a zoo I had until I experienced others. A few of the habitats are a little small but overall I feel like this is place where animals are loved and taken care of and the admissions and visitors are secondary to the well being of the animals as it should be. Plenty of activities to do, bring your own food and drinks, get a good workout. Lots of employees always working around the zoo and tween/teen volunteers helping and happy to working there too. Boo at the zoo is always fun, the adult drink/food tastings are super cool, and the electric safari is a cool experience too. get there early on the weekends so you don't have to take the shuttle. Becoming a member is absolutely worth it and you will pay it off in a couple of visits.

Bobby Richerson

Really nice zoo. Got to see the new giraffe baby and feed the adults. Nice variety of animals. The park was well kept. The food options are good. The park is in the mountains so be ready for a lot of up and down hill walking.

Sarah Sakata

This zoo was the best zoo I have been too. Definitely smaller than others but significantly more interactive. Took a friend here while she was visiting Colorado and we both loved it. Feeding the giraffes was a unique experience that I can't wait to have again! Definitely going back once the penguins are set up!

Roseann Hansen

You get to feed the giraffes. They have talks about the animals to let you know about them. If you don't want to walk up and the mountain side they have shuttles. There is several eating places. A place for xhildren to play. Fun for the whole family.

Emilio Gonzalez

I'm not a big fan of zoos but still I went for my Girlfriend and Son. After awhile I had to ask a zookeeper the real questions like, "why aren't these animals in the wild and free"? To her response, the Cheyenne Zoo houses a large amount of rescue animals. Not including the Giraffes that were born there. Example, the two male bears that are there were rescued. They were both on their second strike and after their third strike bears get put down. The three Mountain Lion Cubs are rescues after their mother was killed due to human animal interaction. Now a former mother of Mountain Lions is slowly being introduced to the cubs with hope to one day take over as the mother they need. All the Elephants at the Cheyenne Zoo were rescued. And two Bald Eagles were also rescued. The nice lady was busy so that was all that she could mention. All in all I'm more pleased the skeptical about the Cheyenne Zoo. In fact I will be going there again soon. Also on the way out we saw a family going in after hours for a wedding. I will be asking my girlfriend of 5 years and 10 months to marry me for our anniversary. I will be highly considering getting married there. For now enjoy the Zoo and what they do for the animals. 10/10

We had a great time with our family here. It was crowded on a Thursday, which I did not expect. I am used to St Louis zoo being free so the admission was a little pricey at $19 for adults and $14 for kids. But it is beautiful. You get up close with several animals. We really enjoyed some time with a sloth! We feed the giraffes. We watched a grizzly bear enjoy the water. The overhead tram was fun with excellent views. The food was a little high but very good. We ate at Pizza with a View. Parking was convenient and free. The facility is on multiple levels so be ready to hike! Really good time, very glad we went.

Jacob Paxton

The hill is just nuts but everything else about this place rocks! Feeding the giraffes, feeding the birds, petting the goats - there is just so much to do! The walk about is great too and my 3 year old had so much fun interacting with all the animals. Make sure you have cash though, you need it to feed the animals and to go on the carousel.

Shannon Miller

Best zoo we have ever been to! 5 stars doesn't even touch it! We were able to feed the giraffes, pet the giraffes inside and outside! I have MS and the walk wasn't bad. We walked 4 miles and saw everything. This zoo doesn't disappoint! Cooling fans throughout and you can fill up your water bottle throughout the park. There was also a shuttle you could ride all day for $2, but we walked. Staff was very courteous! The animals all seemed very happy. The enclosures were amazing! You really could see every animal very well. Everything was very clean and we'll kept up! GORGEOUS mountain views! Tons of educational opportunities!

BA Reich

Awesome zoo experience with a workout built in. The kids really enjoyed all the interactive exhibits. Don't forget the will rogers shrine on the top of the hill. Crowds picked up around lunch time.

Glenda Stephens

The animal exhibits are very interesting. The Zoo is clean, and the map to the exhibits are easy to follow. It is just a wonderful outing for children and adults.

billie smith

I like the zoo but the prices are higher than I expected. The Denver zoo was cheaper and there's a lot more to see. They host several different events throughout the year. Nice place with helpful staff.

joe pleasants

Number six in the nation. Absolutely beautiful zoo. Very healthy and happy inhabitants. Some fee range and most very happy to interact with visitors. Including giraffes, wallaby’s, peacocks, and budgies. The lions sat at the forefront of their cage looking and interacting with visitors. The best thing was the orangutan who kissed, smiled and interacted with small children at there habitat. It was amazing and humbling. All the habitats seamed very healthy and clean. most animals were breading ... baby’s were everywhere

Paul DeNardo

So so great. Beautiful environments, cool information and a focus on conservation and rehabilitation of wild creatures. Super memories are made here every time we go :).

Brezie Nelson

This is a fabulous zoo. The giraffe exhibit is amazing, and I don't understand why more zoos don't create exhibits like this. It's a smaller zoo, but what exhibits they do have, are executed excellently.
