A beautiful church with history. The museum is free to explore. The gift shop has a variety of products with various prices. The kids like $2 finger puppets. Large parking lot with handicap spaces. The weekends has local food vendors selling tasty food. The Hill climb is traditional. Tourist go left, but the old way is to walk right like a pilgrimage and then see the statues and make a prayer for someone else to Mary. A wonderful place to visit or spend a Sunday.
Always a spiritual rejuvenation we receive from visiting San Xavier Church. Words cant Express the emotions, feelings and holy experiences that take place here. We DEFINITELY recommend coming here to all.
Very calming, nice, and mello.. good place to clear your thoughts.
MY GREAT GRANDFATHER'S WORK ON THE MISSION IN 1700'S
Beautiful architecture, well worth seeing. Restoration is in progress. The chapel ceiling is amazing.
If you like history, this is a must visit sight. Get some fry bread from the locals in the parking lot....delicious!!
A pretty little historical mission. They have a little hill with a cross on it you can climb (be careful) and the best part of all? - Fry Bread! Go to the guy in the far corner after checking everything out he is the best/
Interesting history. Looks like restoration work is making good progress. Try to get in on the start of one of the free docent led tours. Then stick around and read the informational plaques later.
Remarkably National Historic Landmark, San Xavier Mission was founded as a Catholic mission by Father Eusebio Kino in 1692. Construction of the current church began in 1783 and was completed in 1797. The oldest intact European structure in Arizona, the church's interior is filled with marvelous original statuary and mural paintings. It is a place where visitors can truly step back in time and enter an authentic 18th Century space. The church retains its original purpose of ministering to the religious needs of its parishioners. Please donate there's no admission to enter the museum
I always love going here. Whet with two of my kids today lit our candles and filled our holy water. There were a lot of tourist there to enjoy as well. I've been going there for 53 years and she will always be beautiful.
Me and my fiance have been looking for a church that we can call our own and we whr welcomed with open arms by the father we continue to go thr every Sunday mass
The mission was a nice place to visit. From the Chapel thru the museum was real interesting. There was a free 25 min video showing some history of and restoration of mission High recommend visiting
Beautiful old catholic church. There's not much around, but the Church offers free tours, and there's always a great mass. Easily one of the most beautiful southwestern churches.
I loved this Catholic Church. I never said I hated it.. I was beautiful. And nice cool in side the Chruch and garden.
Beautifully restored 1800s mission still run as a Catholic church by the Franciscans. You'll feel calm and Serene as you sit and enjoy the spiritual aura of the church. Free tours are given hourly and we'll worth your time. On-site gift shop and on premises, gift shop, snack bar, etc. Amazing display of Roman, Spanish and even Muslim architecture. Beautiful murals, statuary a d wood carvings.
Great stop for history and architecture buffs. Beautiful place
Love going there. We pray and after eat the delicious popover
This place is an awesome spot to visit if you are visiting Tucson. A beautiful old mission with lots of history. There are a lot of informational signs around the church that explain some of its history, and mass is still held here every Sunday.
Always love bringing out of town visitors here to see this amazing piece of history! Such stunning views too!
I recommend not visiting on a Sunday unless to attend services.
Well maintained property of this historical church. The quiet peacefulness of this location touches the spirit. You are able to leisurely look at the murals on the walls and the statues. There is a video that runs repeatedly concerning restoration efforts from the 1990's. There is a gift shop on the property.
Great historic and religious site. Being remodeled, but well worth the trip.
I love this place. It is great for the history and the photos you can get. The tour is very educational. I enjoy the food stands out front. They all have pretty much the same food for basically the same price. The Navajo tacos are great.
First let me say that I am a mission FREAK!! Being from California, I just love the history and beauty about them. We got to the mission just in time for the last tour of the day. I am so thankful we did because our tour guide was able to explain so much regarding the architecture and symbolism throughout the church. Absolutely , beautiful!! We visited the gift shop , bought a few things and made a donation. If you are planning a visit here please remember that it's not a place to let your kids run around inside the church.
For Tourists: It is a beautiful location. It has a lot of historical information and value. There is some authentic Native American food, and just a beautiful little gift shop. Plenty of people come and take photos and pay respects to this beautiful Mission. For Locals: This is a must see, if you live here and haven't been, you're missing out. It is just a breath of fresh air away from the city and worth a few hours. After or even during you can stop by and get some Native American food, what isn't to love? For Catholics: This location has a bunch of Tourists, but the services and Mission itself is an amazing find. If you typically go to Mass elsewhere, it is still worth checking out this location. My mother is German Catholic and she participated in the Mass here and she loved it. A beautiful Chapel and beautiful service.
My wife and I have been coming to San Xavier for 4 yrs. We absolutely love it. It's like going back in time. We fill a unbelievable presence of love and faith. The church is around 300 yrs. Old the Architecture is unbelievable. It is a Must see and enjoy place in Tucson to visit. the locals are wonderful.
This is a beautiful old church that was one of the first churches in this area. It is historic and has undergone considerable restoration to maintain its original art and structure. Well worth a visit and there are tours some days but it is a little hit or miss.
A beautiful mission that displays the beauty of Pima county. It is wonderful that they are restoring this piece of history.
On the Indian reservation, tour guide was great, Indians were making fry bread and it was great
2nd time there but 50 years apart still beautiful
Beautiful work restoring the mission artist did a fantastic job! Found it well worth the trip and planning to
Building is old and in need of repair, buy that is what makes it so unique and special. The tour guide from Wisconsin was informed but a little long winded. Only had a limited amount of time and wanted to spend it inside the church, instead of walking the grounds. Overall I was amazed with the age of this Catholic church that sits on an Indian reservation.
I'm not the most spiritual person and definitely not Catholic but this mission was amazing and beautiful. You walk in and feel the history and culture in this mission. The local Native Americans with their stands selling pottery and fried bread was also great. Loved it.
Interesting and historical place to visit. Great for Tucson residents and visitors alike. The intricate woodwork in the sanctuary is amazing. Dog friendly (be advised there are local dogs roaming around off leash too). Worth a visit!
Absolutely beautiful. Not sure if it was because of the construction but there was not much to look around and see. Also, it's an active church so when walking around in the main building there are people in there praying. The gift shop has some lovely items and everyone was friendly. The landscape around the mission is gorgeous, so if you go during a cooler time of year there might be some nice walking/hiking.
Amazing beautiful spiritual place! The people in the gift shop are very kind and sell gorgeous stuff! Also, the fry bread that is sold by the vendor is delicious! They only take cash as they work outside and in the heat!! We only had $12 cash and our total was $17, they said "No problem" ...very kind! We recommend the Green Chili fry bread !!! Definitely plan on going back for Mass and lunch..and maybe to buy more beautiful jewelry! ♡
It's beautiful and it's free! Ample parking, cafe (delicious fry bread), nice gift shop with native American jewelry and more. Well worth going to see. Casino not too far away.
Iconic Tucson landmark. Dripping with our history and culture. Brought alive by tour guides and volunteers who recreate the old days.
Very beautiful and peaceful. Will return again.
Beautifully kept still active Mission, we loved it and highly recommend this. Also please consider a donation as this is totally free (church) and the restoration is ongoing and history is so important.
We had not been here in a number of years, but it is still beautiful. It is a very historic church that sits on an Indian reservation. One of the most impressive things is that you can actually see the church from miles around. We wandered around the church itself as well as the grounds, which were beautiful. There is a nice gift shop nearby as well as a building specializing in Native American crafts. Do not forget to stop in the plaza for a piece of fry bread--yum!
This is a great day trip destination. The history and architecture of this mission is amazing. The beauty of the bright white structure in the middle of a sandy desert is enough of a reason to visit. The tours are no cost but accept donations. There is no ATM or anywhere to get cash so ensure to do so before heading to the remote area. It was a Sat when we went and there were vendors set up selling flatbread and lemon aid.
Beautiful, relaxing, breath taking, amazing!! Wonderful, historic location. I love bringing family and friends to San Xavier so they can see the beauty for themselves!!!!!!
Still being renovated but breathtaking and inspiring. It's an incredible part of history regardless of ones religion. Beautiful!
Great place to go with the family my kids love to climb the Mountain
Sacred and peacefull place with awesome Native American history.
This is an amazing church. It has amazing history, architecture and spirituality. You can still attend mass here just check the schedules. Tours & tourists should be respectful of mass and patrons attending. The interior is amazing! So much artistry and craftsmanship. We re-visit this church whenever we are in the area. You can light candles and leave prayers at the alters, you just have to have smokeless candles. You can buy them from the church for 3$. Smokeless candles ensure that the interior o the church is not damaged. A lot of it has been painstakingly restored. There are usually vendors on the edge of the parking lot selling fry-bread or bannock which is usually a very tasty snack after walking the grounds.
It's beautiful, lots too see and great food!
Beautiful church. So old and well preserved
This was one of the best free experiences my husband and I have ever had. It literally took my breath away. If you are looking for something to do in Tucson, stop by here and look at the amazing history.
Great place to visit. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Art and architecture along with the history made a great visit.
This place is nuts. There were people fondling a wooden statue in an alter, making strange religious gestures and mumbling gibberish. I noped the heck right on out of there, and headed over to the native food stands. The fry bread snacks are warm pastries made from nirvana. Yummy!
Beautiful architecture and very historic. My favorite place to bring guests to Tucson.
A really special place. Amazing architecture. The inside is impressive and intricately decorated as you would expect in a working mission.
Even though I'm a Christian every chance I get I come to this place it's so peaceful so much history your heart would definitely be touched if you have the opportunity to go to this church and see the inside and make sure you stop by the gift shop
Don't be a dummy like me and remember you have a hat on. They ask you to do so out of respect. Fry bread made fresh and tacos by Indians out front are tasty also.
San Xavier Mission, has a very special place in my heart. I love visiting the mission, at least twice a month, and more when possible. It is a very spiritual place for me. Love going up the hill to visit The Lady of Lourdes, Lighting a candle and praying and Thanking her for her spiritual guidance. It has been a special place since I was a young child.Blessings to all.
Beautiful active church. You must go inside to see the carved and painted walls. Its been partially restored. Parking was $3 but no entry fee. You can buy candles to light and the gift shop had some interesting items.
The history here is mind blowing. The staff if very polite and helpful.
We aren't a religious or spiritual family but the feeling in this place could definitely be called "spiritual". A truly beautiful place.
Amazingly beautiful old white mission against a blue sky in Tucson!! It was easy to find, parking was adequate, and although there were some things for sale there, it was free!! A wedding was about to be performed when we were there in February. It was charming and made a great short stop as we enjoyed the sites in Tucson!
A great place to find Peace Quiet and a piece of History .
I'm not Catholic but I do love history. This mission is absolutely gorgeous. The murals are gigantic with vibrant colors. I wish they would expand more on the influence of the Spanish missions in the world... But learning this small part of it was very interesting anyway. I guess it might be less exciting to kids, but I don't know for sure. The gardens are also with seeing.
This is a rare find indeed. It is gorgeous and they are in the process of a painstakingly accurate restoration. It is still very much open as of 3/21/19 and plenty to see especially the magnificent alter area. So glad I stopped here.
Beautiful Mission San Xavier is a large complex with a chapel, grounds to walk, shops to shop and you might even get a bite. The day we went it was crowded, but there was plenty of parking and the grounds are large enough not to impose on any one. We had a most enjoyable time a d recommend visiting when in the area. The signage is clear and informative and restrooms are available.
A bit of American history, social and religious history, wrapped up in a beautiful old building surrounded by a native American reservation. Met some nice people, got nice gifts, and learned a lot! I highly recommend this as a sight seeing stop in Tucson!!!
A beautiful place, could not tour since mass services are all weekend long.
This magnificent edifice is still having mass hundreds of years after it was built.
Beautiful BEAUTIFUL Church!!!! I cant wait to go back. It is absolutely stunning!
My visit here was just a quick stop because we got there late and they were closing, but from what l saw it was a very old church. A beautiful church that is well taken care of by it's people. Everything was so well preserved I was really taken back when I heard how old it was.
The view is nice. This is a great place to take awesome pictures nature and blue skies. The church is old but it's a quick stop for free. I like the fried dough that is sold outside just be careful because not everybody is clean.
We live down Valencia so every time relatives visit us , we always take them to see the Mission. Everyone just love the Mission. They leave feeling amazed at how awesome the Mission is.
Place reminded us of Spain or Mexico truly worth sering spending an hour or two.Really happy we stopped and spent the hour.
One of the most beautiful places to go. Very good memories from when I was growing up.♥️
The architectural detail from the 1700's is jaw dropping. Just walking onto the property put you into a state of awe. Once you actually get to the building sets your soul on alert.... the calming presence that ensues after crossing the threshold makes you want to sit and pray, or meditate, or both. This piece of our history is a treasure.
Many years ago, when we first visited Mission San Xavier del Bac, it was going to ruin and the history was being lost. Thanks to the many who have worked very hard, restoration of this magnificient mission is well underway and the trip to visit this magical location is the highlight of any Tucson visit. The walls are returning to their former glory, the music that surrounds this place is wonderful, and the food across the plaza is amazing! This mission really brings you back to a time when the history was important and authenticity is relevant. Come, visit the sanctuary, the gardens and enjoy the wonderful food. It's an experience for the entire family
We visit the mission to attend mass and to pray for our family's well being and keep our military men & women safe
A hidden gem, but visible for miles because the area is so flat. Not part of the coastal mission system so not well marketed. It is part of a mission system that is entirely in Mexico except this one. Worth an hour or more to visit. History is always useful.
Beautiful church in the desert. If you are thinking about visiting you should and take enough time to visit all the grounds and hike the trail on the east side. Light a candle. On Sunday there are food vendors after mass where you can enjoy a variety of fried foods. If in the summer masses are full not air conditioned and you could end up standing outside, still a very worthwhile experience.
Weekend lunch on the reservation - delicious. Ate fry bread with chili topping. Couple of neat gift shops. The Mission is beautiful to see. A definite stop if you're in the area.
Turn after turn in Tucson is an exciting look back in history. The architecture, the landscape. . . you aren't just somewhere else. Arizona is like no other state. This mission church sits on a reservation. What a memorable visit with my cousin and his wife.
Beautiful restoration. Local dogs wandered in to enjoy some cool shade. Very cute! Had some yummy fry bread. The mass was crowded and many were crowded in entry to listen.
It's a really cool church just be aware it's gives me weird vibes
Beautiful. A step out of town, and into some important history. Tours a available. Pretty grounds, beautiful artwork. A functioning church, so modest dress and respectful attitude is appropriate.
Talk About A Spiral Feeling. Breath Taking,Beautiful & Very Powerful Peaceful Feeling. #San Javier #
Very impressive well worth a visit. Excellent gift shop too.
Beautiful, hidden gem of Tucson with a rich history that transcends the obvious religious connections to days of old. Authentic food served after masses. Summer schedule of mass differs from winter, so make sure to check times if you go to observe mass. Bring sturdy shoes to make the short climb up the rocky hill to the cross for adoration and epic 360 views.
This was our first tourist stop, right from the Tucson International Airport. This mission is on the Tohono O'odham reservation, direct descendants of the Pima tribe, so respectful behavior is emphasized. As a seeker of the California Missions and their architecture, I found this mission to be so unique with its Spanish Colonial style mixed with Baroque features. On the site, you will find a restaurant, gift shops and community tribal members selling their foods and wares. Plan to spend 2 - 3 hours there. There's also a hill nearby where you can hike to the top and view the surrounding area.
Just beautiful - felt like going back in time
It was very interesting. It was hot. Amazing how they made a beautiful garden with the cactus in the area. The detail in the chapel was breathtaking. There is an interesting tour that is given for free.
BEAUTIFUL and definitely something to see. The ability of the human species to be able to design, create, build and maintain something of this level is truly a gift from God. Be prepared to light a candle ($3 cash).
Love this place. Is a must see if visiting Tucson. If available take the your. I've been there so many times and did not know a lot of the history. Awesome expierence
We visited on a Sunday so it was very busy with people going to mass along with those who are just touring the property.I caught the end of mass, which was lovely, and then stayed to wander around the church. It is filled with decorative paintings, statues, and relics. Well worth a good long look.Wander up the hill to the right. There is a path that encircles the crest, and then a very crude passage to the top. Wonderful views, and the energy of a long history. There is a museum to peruse. And on that day, at least, there were a number of vendors out front selling drinks and varieties of fry bread. I couldn't resist so I tried one with powdered sugar and cinnamon sugar. It was a lot, but I finished it!!A lovely experience filled with rich history.
Beautiful historic mission from late 1700s. There is an ongoing restoration going on and free tours giving you the local history and architectural history of the mission and surrounding area. The local Indian tribes have vending booths with lots of fried bread. Enjoyed the very informative tour.
Stopped off here on a cross country drive on I-10. The history here is amazing.
One of the most Historic Churches in Arizona, a reminder of how one Holy Man Francisco Eusebio Kino shows love and compassion to a Indian Nation and all who come here.
This terrific Church is south of Tucson, just out of the city, an easy and much rewarding drive. It's in a beautiful Spanish-Mexican baroque style, dating back to the beginning of 18c and obviously recently renovated. Two white belfries are divided with great stone work where's the entrance. The interior is also very nice with frescoes and great carvings.
This Monument is beautiful and has a lot of history!!! I will visit it again
Wonderfull restored Catholic church from over a century ago. A must see and they do have regular services there too. Come support the endeavor.
The beauty, balance and detail in this historic mission never cease to leave me mesmerized every time I visit, which I make a point to do when in Tucson. Do not miss an opportunity to see first-hand.
This historical landmark is beautifully preserved. It gave me a sense of awe and wonder at the ingenuity and creativity of the architects and artists of the period.
Awesome place to visit...the Mission itself is so amazing.. can light a candle for a loved one, go in the chapel, visit the souvenir shop, or just hang out on the holy grounds. This day there was also a Pow Wow which we went to. It was fabulous!!! There were vendors of jewelry, food, crafts....everything!!! Then Native Americans doing basket dances, just beautiful!! The parade to begin the PowWow was Unbelievable!! Highly recommend!!!
It was closed for a private service when we went but it was beautiful. There are a few things to walk around and look at. And the Indian fry bread that people were selling in front of the parking lot was really good.
Nice church very beautiful great history and I didn't know it had a tour. It's also a nice walk and good scenery its beautiful
There church was there for age ...its a nice place to be ....its was so pretty
There church is a beautiful piece of history standing tall and bright. It is also wrapped around Navajo culture in the surrounding stores. Worth the trip!
It was good and all but the bathrooms had no papertowels or toilet paper and the trash was overflowing
Beautiful church with a lot of history. Make sure to walk up the nearby hill for some great views.
This place grew on me, once you're done going through the main Chapel and you go to the next section on your right you can buy candles there there's a little exhibition about the past in the back with pictures and articles there's also holy water on a spigot so don't forget to take a little container so you can take some holy water home if you don't have any they sell them at the gift shop there which is the next place you should look at once you're done with that you can walk up the hill to the cross... be careful it's easy going up but it's hard to coming down and before you leave you should go try the Navajo tacos they sell there the natives are out by the wooden food stamps they made but it's cash only so don't forget to bring the green and have fun!!
What an amazing experience! The Sanctuary is beautiful with art work spanning centuries. I am thankful they allow the public in to such a historic place!
Beautifully built. Took the drone there fer excellent aerial footage.
Beautiful place to visit. So much history. We met a grounds keeper that told us so much history since he was born and raised in that area.
What an interesting place to go. Take the free tour! Packed full of information. History is really good. Elaborate mission. This is a do not miss. No charge but donations appreciated. The Indian Fry bread is really good too.
This is one of the nicest place to live in history for a few minutes or a few hours it's worth the trip to see some of Tucson Arizona old's place left
This place is so beautiful. A really great place to worship the Lord. Also, a great place to visit and tour the church.
Peaceful, beautiful, breathtaking to think it was started in the 1600's. Worth the trip. Enjoy.
Beautiful place. Please stay quiet in the church and try not to visit while they are having mass, unless you are there for mass too.
Absolutely lovely little piece of history. This is a currently active Church. Next time I'm in Tucson, would love to attend a service. The gift shop has plenty of items to browse.
Love it, its been a while coming here. Good place to visit the church history
I enjoyed this spot but did notice they may lack funding to maintain the building and grounds. This is such a nice place and should be invested in. Definitely a spot to visit on a day you have multiple destinations to visit. It wont take long to get through.
Always live visiting this "jewel in the desert"! Wish all shops and cafe had been open, but the ones that were had beautiful and unique items! Second time in a row that no fry bread was available though! Sure missed that!
Beautiful architecture, but, it's the history! The photos you can take are fantastic- I have one large one framed at home. The interior artwork is simply gorgeous. Easy parking; local food and unique shopping; visit the gift shop.
Great Historical location and preservation. Father Kino. Jesuit Priest.
Growing up in California I've seen a lot of missions. Even though San Xavier is relatively small, it's readily one of my favorites. It's absolutely beautiful and gave me a significant appreciation for these historic landmarks.
Best Pop over or Indian fry bread in Tucson. I suggest Red Chili.
This is a an absolute must stop for anyone visiting Tucson. This beautiful historic mission is amazing and steeped in so much history. The efforts they are putting in to restore this mission to it's former glory is commendable.
The place is beautiful, it is a place you will remember for a long time. The artifacts and buildings are fantastic.
Very pretty we bought 2 candles 2 light for in remembrance of a family member
Wooooow what an historic place to visit. Amazing beauty on the inside and out. Make sure you visit the souvenir place also rt as you come in. This is a must see atleast once if you like history and architecture.
Very nice place to visit! Interesting church and museum. Liked the beautiful courtyard of the museum very much, a cool and peaceful place to rest for a while. Outside there're locals selling food, have a try, it's delicious!
Such a beautiful experience been here three times ready. Mass and communion are mentioned on the website. The museum is worthwhile the splendor of it's historical past. Ancient history of this remarkable church. It brings such peace and serenity.
Cool, easy, historical day excursion out of Tucson. The church, itself, is pretty well maintained and nicely restored in places; beautiful building and views. The geometric print walls near the entrance are really wild. Good road side, native food options around, also but, as with everywhere in the desert, BRING WATER!! Definitely check out the native jewelers and artisans, if they are open, for well-crafted pieces!!
As a strong Catholic
Historic and very beautiful. Most people come and visit because it's a tourist attraction but it's much more than that for my family and I.
Awesome place to visit to get some culture art and history.
The experience was good. Lifted my spirits and mabe me feel blessed
This is one of my favorite places in southern Arizona, so beautiful! I hope you like the attached photo, it's a good example of its beauty!
Just as beautiful as it was when I visited as a child 29 years ago! The whole time on the way there I kept hoping someone still made the fry bread I remembered from childhood and they do and it was just as good as I remembered! It was an even better experience this time as I was with my own wife and children and they all enjoyed themselves! It was liking walking back in time as memories returned as I saw things I remembered from childhood and new things I didn't remember. Free admission and easy parking are a plus. Very easy to see from the highway and easy to find with gps directions. Definitely make a stop here if you are visiting Tucson, you won't regret it!
I'm so glad we went here. The church is absolutely beautiful. The details of everything inside is phenomenal. The feeling you get just sitting in the church is amazing. We will definitely be visiting again
must see on your visit to Tuscon! love the architecture of this building!
A pleasant 16km/10 miles drive from Tucson this historic 1692 Spanish white wash Church established by Jesuit Eusebio Francisco Kino is located in the ancient Sobaipuri O'odham grounds along the banks of the Santa Cruz River. Despite the destruction it suffered in the 1770 Apache raid it was rebuilt by Franciscans 13 years later and completed in 1797. Its name San Xavier/ Javier del Bac derives from the village of Wa: k.
The Mission is absolutely amazing! Both the outside and the inside of the mission is beautiful. There's a lot to see in and around the mission. You can even have lunch, an Indian taco or powdered sugar fry bread. Mission has a gift shop with interesting items to purchase. There is a little shopping center area where they have Native American made art, jewelry, baskets and much more.
Love to Come out Here to Pray & Reflect. Always a Glorious Visit. And,,, Frybread!!! Blessings Dale
History, beautiful Architecture over 200 yrs old. Mix of Native, Spanish, Mexican influence.
Nice place to visit. What I really enjoyed was the fry bread tacos being sold outside in front. When I'm back in Wisc. I get cravings for them.
The church is beautiful. I love to visit it and I lit a candle which they sell for $3.00. I love to buy the fry bread from the local Indians. It is so awesome. I really love the flavor. There are gift shops. There is a video also you can watch that tells the history. You can climb up to the cross what a view. You get a sense of calm. Very Beautiful.
Such a beautiful old mission church. The architecture was amazing. We walked around for a bit, but could only look into the building as they were having Mass at the time. I wish I could have taken pictures inside the sanctuary.
On a recent Sunday - 7 different vendors of Indian fried bread! Best with honey, but beware of the desert bees and wasps - they will want it too. The mission is an architectural marvel. The small hill nearby gives an astonishing 360 degrees view of the desert plain and the mountains in the distance.
The place looks really lost but spiritual. I loved the church and its structure, inside there are some text about the story and it is particular! Outside you can see also some shops of the place and there is a little hill where there are flowers and the little "temple" of the saint. It is kinda interesting from someome who comes from Europe
I love this place when someone comes to visit I bring them here. They have food and drinks for sale.
Beautiful church and history. When events occur can get native fry bread a tacos. Etc. And also shopping nearby for tribal decorations and sage etc.
If you like Catholic Missions this is a good one. Free tours by volunteers. Lots of history.
I love the Mission, the candle room, and vendors with Indian fry bread.
Everyone should take the time to see this place. Take the full guided free tour and also sit thru the video presentation. Then go across the lot for some delicious Indian fry bread with red or green chili on it!!!! Yum!!
Its a great turista site, food is really good.
A short but excellent site to see. Great history, views and deep meaning.
If you love Catholic Franciscan missionary tradition don't miss it. Say a prayer and enjoy. Wonderful architecture even incorporating Franciscan robe rope belt design in the building. The courtyard is awesome as are the reliefs which are sorely in need of refurbishment.
