We kayaked and camped down the Colorado River from the Hoover Dam and the whole entire trip is amazing. The views are breathtaking and the fishing is amazing. There are hiking trails and hot springs all over the place to enjoy. Just be careful that the water rises and lowers at night and you can get trapped on the shoreline. Also make sure that your campsite is set up far enough back that the rising water does not ruin it. I would highly suggest anyone thinking about Kayaking and camping to do it as soon as possible because the night Stars light up like fireflies in the sky and it's beautiful.

The natural raw beauty of the desert and then water is just amazing. The Grand Canyon is just spectacular! You just cannot explain the vastness of it, it just has to be seen in person. A must for your bucket list for sure. Lake Mead and the Hoover Dam is also an amazing engineering success. Very clever in its design as a relatively small wall compared to the size and volume of water in the lake is just amazing. Both a must see!

Beautiful Joshua trees , nice cactus. Found a nice quarts mines if your into back roads and rocks. I like cooler temp. Spring is possibly the best timr to visit.

I love stopping to take pictures in the Lake Mead National Rec Area. I always forget, heading back to Phoenix from Vegas to stop at the overlook to take STUNNING pictures of Lake Mead. I would HIGHLY suggest you stop if you can ask you can ONLY do this heading South on the I-95. If you forget the turn-around is QUITE long! THe raw dessert in this area is quite stark and stunning. It is well worth the time to take some pictures!

Wow, the trail leading to the Colorado River and the hot springs is pretty challenging. If you're not used to being flexible even slight rock climbing experience it may be difficult. Very fun, I hope people keep up with maintaining it clean. You'll have quite the experience.

It definitely wasn't what I imagined a lake to look like. I sort of expected a beach with greenery. If you like to ride on boats, this seems to be the focus of the lake. There was some historical stuff to do around the area, but the lake itself wasn't too interesting.

Great place to take a hike. This park is a good location to take a hike with the family. There's a railroad track and a tunnel which was bored int he 1800s which is a good part of the hike. When we went in the winter, it got cold very quickly at sundown, so keep that in mind.

Hey... It's a desert, fun place to wheel around though. Ran into so many crosses in the deserts here, I started taking snapshots. Remember, take water, LOTS of water if you go wheeling. You can get in deep fast. If you break your rig, you can cover up and walk out. Without LOTS of water... You too may end up as one more desert cross. Be prepared.

Great place for water activities. My only complaint is the walk way to the boat slips. It is very uneven with the cement broken up and is a tripping hazard waiting to i happen. Id be very surprised if no one has hurt themselves yet walking it.

What a great and fun place. We were seated at a tall table near the bar area. The waiter Ray was so so busy running and cleaning his own area taking orders,payments and more. We ordered an appetizer and that came in about 20 minutes from being seated we waited another 25 minutes till our order was taken and that was because I called another waiter to call our waiter Ray over but he actually took our order instead his name was Juan nice guy. The food was excellent I enjoy the atmosphere and the gift shop.

We take our boat here all the time. It's HUGE with lots of coves and marinas to explore. Not fancy though. There are a few floating restrooms, but they are totally gross so if you don't have a toilet on your boat... Not much greenery, it's still the desert and 100+ summer to early fall, but definitely worth a visit.

Lake Mead National Recreation area has all sorts of interesting cool things. You can find developed marinas and busy beaches, or tucked away hidden spots and everything in between. There's even some old mines and ghost town remenants hidden away in some spots. The Telephone Coves on Lake Mohave are great spots for some lakeside swimming or just enjoying the water.

We really like this place. Lots of places to pull-up and swim. The only thing I dislike most of all and it burns my bottom is the people that don't clean up after their self's... That's bad. Makes me wonder what there house looks like! My family and I pick up so much trash before we can enjoy every time.. It can be 2 weeks later and you would never know we cleaned up someone else's mess.. it's sad.

Gorgeous scenery, many hiking trails and very few people on a Wednesday. It is a fee area to stop and enjoy. You can drive East and get to a beach area. The road offers a couple of views of Lake Meade that show impressive size. We got some rare desert summer rainfall, it was refreshing but evaporated shortly after hitting your skin. You should come here .

I love free camping! Anyways there is a sweet spot off Kingman Wash Rd, right past the bridge that crosses the dam. It's a dirt road and kinda bumpy so a truck or SUV is recommended. But there are spots and fire pits. You can camp right at the beach of the lake. I think it's a 14 day camp limit, free!!

So make sure you bring what you need with you or else you will be hungry with no options. But this place is absolutely wonderful stunning I think every human should visit

It's a great hike for families with little kids, you can ride your bike, it's also furry children friendly. The trail takes you all the way to the Dam and along the way you can learn a bit about how they built it. There is restrooms in the beginning and about 3 miles away there's an other. It's closed between June and September too hot.

Lake Mead is the Largest man-made Reservoir in America. If you're visiting Las Vegas, you need to go to see Lake Mead, and Hoover Dam. The cost to go into th National Recreation Area, is about $5. You can buy an annual pass good for all national parks if you wish. If you plan on visiting the Grand Canyon and Zion and other places definitely buy the annual pass. Check it out! There's lots to do at Lake Mead. Hiking, camping, picnicking, jet skis, water skiing, kayaking, Etc.

Good place overall. It is filled with bees and our friend did get stung by one. They do have restrooms available also. During the week no one enforces laws on the water so we did see one man almost drown, a flipped jet ski that took people 10 min to turn back over and tons of kids riding jet skies.

Heavily! We live in Moapa Valley and it's just a pleasure to drive along the lake and take in the sites. We love to swim in the lake and go boating whenever possible. While the lake has receded there is still plenty of water left to enjoy. The levels have even improved with the last 2 winters rain and snow melt. It's absolutely beautiful! Some see for yourself!

Loved it!! The beach water was amazing with the best mountain views. However it's a tricky beach with no sand. Suggestion...bring those water shoes because those rocks make you pay to enjoy that awesome water. Also bring chairs, tents umbrellas because its uncomfortable to lay on top of the rocks and no one is renting and shade.

Still the best bargain in outdoor splendor! Vegans are crazy not to spend their days off there. Lucky employees who have weekdays off will enjoy the beaches, watercraft with fewer people intruding. Great lookout areas so you can see a number of coves you can visit.

This is a great place to stop and get information. Military and disabled veterans can get there free park pass here. I highly suggest this as it gets you into the national parks for free and discounts on other services that usually charge a fee.

We rented a boat here and explored the lake. Staff was very helpful and explained how to navigate the lake. We went over by Hoover Dam and saw it from the back side which we have never saw before. Cool. Water was not too cold and the lake wasn't super busy which was nice.

Good time. They charge a lot now to get in. They charged my in-laws for their car even tho they were spending thousands on a houseboat rental... The houseboat should have already been stickered and their car wasn't going in the water... They are just getting a bit money crazy over there!! Shame, used to be so fun.

This was at the rest stop past the casino you have to go back through Boulder to get to here but it's totally worth it it's a nice information center with very clean nice restrooms and they actually have a very expensive water filtration system that pumps out ice cold perfectly filtered water I imagine people come here to fill up their gallon containers I would if I lived nearby it's at the perfect stop to overlook the lake and a great stop to gain information if you're passing through. Also to refill the water and use the restroom. Definitely would recommend stopping by and worth taking the back route to get to it.

Swimming at Boulder Beach was amazing in the 100 degree weather. Just remember to wear water shoes, bring something for shade, WATER, and drive in the park. Dont be like me and park outside the park and walk in.

Hoover dam! What a great experience! Worth the price and the drive. Pay the $30.00 and get the tour. The bridge is the 2nd highest in the country, and feels like it looking the side. 117 degrees outside when we visited what a experience just to feel heat like that.

Amazing breathtaking piece of our American history. It's very hard to appreciate this from a photo. The tour itself takes you 500 ft down to see one of the tunnels and back up to the turbine/generator deck. The staff were very informative.

I live in Meadview AZ the only town , village, Berg, whatever that is totally surrounded by a federal park ( Lake Mead National Recreation area) beautiful views , excellent fishing, ATV trails, hiking, photographers paradise and lots of friendly people . What's not to like.

Well the 'beach' at boulder beach is as Rocky as everyone said it is. Wear shoes or some kind of foot protection. We saw several people walk from the parking area to the water only to turn around and go back without ever getting in the water due to the Rocky beach. The water was great though, not too warm nor cold and the wind was ok until the storm blew in while we were there. All in all a pretty nice place to get away from the strip and the heat. Some sort of shelter from the sun is a good idea also as there is none at all down by the lake. There are no concessions either so bring water and snacks if staying awhile. The restrooms were convenient and clean. Have fun!

This was the first time I had the opportunity to go to lake Mead National recreation area. I do want to thank Kealoha for picking me up and bringing me on this outing. I'm glad he had the appropriate life preservers and we could kayak out there so we have the right equipment and we brought our own water to stay hydrated. Their outdoor restrooms were adequate for being National Park bathrooms. Of course, it helps I had reasonably low expectation of them being super clean. We got there right before the sun was going down so we also got to see some of the full Moon. I took a bunch of pictures being very careful not to drop my phone in the lake thank you thank you thank you God and the universe. Here are the highlights in pictures.

Place nice to visit but if you are tight on time then you can just view from far and continue the drive towards grand canyon. But if you take the tour then you will visit all the places. If you are family of 4 or more better to rent a car it will be lot cheaper.

I was actually on a hiking trail. One of my favorite here. The Goldstrike canyon trail. It goes down to the Colorado River and can see the Hoover dam. Has hot springs .. you pull yourself up and down ropes over boulders and it's a fun time. Take plenty of water and go on am adventure!

As the closest body of water to Las Vegas, it is to be expected that everyone goes to here to cool off especially when temperatures are close to 130.° With that said, many people who frequent Lake Mead aren't concerned with cleaning up after themselves, leaving many areas covered in trash. We went to 3 different spots yesterday and each one was super crowded. If you've got a 4wd vehicle, I'd recommend driving up some of the less traveled trails to get to a more secluded spot. The water seems cleaner than in previous years. The pass to enter the park is a bit steep.

Worth the drive It was rather hot and humid but the view.of the lake made a t worth it. We did not.swim or boat so cannot comment on the condition. We did see a fix though. Lot of local boats and folks picnicking. There is a charge to get in but we used our national park pass.

I love going to the lake to fish. My problem is the roads are mostly gravel, very rough, ad don't get closer enough too the lake. There is also only 1 fishing pier and it is too small. There is only room for 3-4 people to fish comfortably and there would be dozens of people there, if there was room for them. More piers in other locations on the lake would make it much more popular.

Just outstanding. I honestly had no idea how beautiful it was going to be but once we arrived we had a difficult time leaving. We were able to stop and view from different areas also. I would definitely suggest stopping there if you are visiting Hoover Dam.

Fabulous hike. We went through flattish desert, then into a wonderful bowl of interesting rock formations and colors. The colors! Wow. There are lots of hikes here. Some parts of the park look like nothing has ever or could ever grow, depressingly stony and ugly. Then there are areas like the hike we did that are breathtaking. It's well worth traveling through and exploring.

Amazing views and history! I'd definitely recommend taking some water if you plan to stay very long. It wasn't as hot as it could have been but there's no shade. The dam is incredibly beautiful and if you park in one of the lots, it costs $10 per vehicle. Views from both sides. I wouldn't pass it up if you're anywhere close. Several outlooks where you can pull off and take pictures. A definite must see!

Relaxing place just not very good for fishing to many boats coming in and out the port. Seems like not many people know of this place. Some good hikes or walks here.

this place is so beautiful. I will warn you you will have to pay to get into it. It is a State national Park or some other such nonsense. However you can buy a yearly pass which gets you into all the state parks which to me is kind of worth it. cuz there is red Rock Lake Mead and then there's some places in California and Utah that are all within a decent driving distance. It always is so sad to see the water lines were the lake used to be in the water and how it's getting lower and lower. This is such a beautiful drive I would recommend it highly. Depending on which way you're coming from it will lead you to the Hoover dam. It could also lead you to Vegas. Like I said it just depends on which side that you enter from. Overall definitely check this place out y'all.

Rented a boat 2 days in a row! pontoon and then the sports boat... we had a blast!! The ladies in the marina were awesome and the gentleman who helped launch, dock and refuel the boat were great as well. Perfect for families. So beautiful.

It was a spectacular time on the lake. Went boating stayed out overnight slept under the stars. People at Marina are so very helpful. The Marina store is a disgrace & how far you have to walk to your boat given the changes that we're made to the Marina from last years storms.

There’s so much to see! Great SUP access at the end of Government Wash Road or Boxcar Cove Road. Go hiking at Lava Butte Wash or Bowl of Fire.

This place has some amazing views. I believe the entrance fee is $25 and camping is $20 a night. The spaces were good sized and the camp ground was fairly clean. The bathrooms were not kept very clean which was odd because we saw the camp host all the time. Another oddity, was the camp host doesn't sale firewood, it was only available at the little store on site......which closed at 5pm!!! So as a friendly reminder bring firewood and please pack out what you packed in!!!

Really enjoyed our stay. Peaceful (in off peak time). Lake Mead is great for water activities with a huge marina nearby & Boulder Beach 2 mins drive. Do NOT miss out on driving through The Valley of Fire.

I always love going to lake mead, the water leave goes up and down so the cliffs and stuff there are to jump vary, the water could be a little cleaner but cant really complain to much it is a lake not a river... lots of fish to fish for and its HUGE if you have a boat or jet ski you can have alot of fun there

If you like the desert this is the place for you to go. Lots of dispersed camping available. Lots of desert creatures to see. Beware the coyotes though don't leave any food outside, that would include leaving your dog leashed outside, they are quick and hungry. Don't take any glass or Styrofoam with you it's against the rules.

Very nice!!!! We had a great time here. Don't bring Styrofoam coolers, glass bottles or start fires. A gas grill is ok.The park ranger was very nice.
