Some of the best mountain vistas you could ever ask for and so much to see. Lots of the park is fairly easy to access but there are moderate and challenging hikes around for those of you looking to challenge yourselves.

We hiked the Twin Peaks Trail and beware.. straight uphill. Of course when you head back after reaching the second bench, it will be all down hill. Beautiful sights and beautiful park all around. I am so happy we did this trail. Take your time on it and don't make it a race and you will be fine. Pack snacks and water!

Resurrection Creek near Hope, Ak for gold-panning and hiking. Also bear country, so be bear aware. A good side visit from Hope.

Chad Wagner

There are many excellent hikes and cross country ski routes in the mountains above Anchorage. Most accessible by a 20 to 30 minute drive. In winter a front wheel drive vehicle or all wheel drive is advised. (studded tires are very helpful with either)

David Sicktich

Beyond beautiful, great hiking trails and places to fish. Been going on vacation there for the past 3 years. Would definitely return many more times. Hopefully the Swan Lake Fire doesn't destroy too much of it.

Are you kidding me?? This place touches my soul. People get out of your bubble and come to AK where you will find out how awesome and Grand Nature is....

jordan curbow

I took the drive to whittier my son loved the tunnel. We did a bit of hiking that was nice. Saw some bear hair so fyi look around and be on alert.

Tony Hamby

Like it. But near by We ordered the garlic knots and two medium pies to share: the XX (pesto, artichoke, red onion, bacon, feta, mozzarella) and the XY (marinara, pepperoni, Italian sausage, mozzarella). The garlic knots were little bombs of buttery, yeasty goodness, and the garlic was robust but not overpowering. When our pizzas arrived, our expectations continued to be exceeded. The crust was crisp, flavorful, and chewy. The toppings worked together beautifully. The marinara and pesto were packed with flavor, and the mozarella had a great consistency and very little oil. By the end of the meal we were planning our next visit.

Wendy MB

Nature - in its beauty ... Fall colors ... Rain and sun and just right temps for walks ... Great photo and painting inspirations!

Love it. Want to go back... Multiple times.

Chanega harbor is a pleasant place to tie up. No harbormaster. Pick a transient spot. Watch depth and vessel size. It's intended for boats 58' or less there is a couple of spots for larger boats. But enter with caution and check tides.

Vaili

If you know me, you know I adore the woods. And i shouldnt pick favorites but if I had to....

Bill Cibart

Best Bluewater camping I've ever been at. It was so good my wife had to stay here for six days just because of the water. Cooper Creek Campground North number 23.

Kay

We make two stops off the Alaskan Railroad, one on Whittier to camp and the next night at the Spencer Creek Glacier trails. It was wonderful weather in August, we hiked about 10 miles each day with plenty to view, we hiked to the Spencer Cabin to have lunch and it had wonderful views, we met a group that helicoptered in to the top of the mountain and hiked down, and met many other great individuals. There were many rafters and and kayakers that looks to be having a great time!

James Wells

This is one of the most beautiful places on earth. The best time to visit is in late spring when everything is in bloom and the animals are getting more active. A must see at least once in your life.

Brent Kelly

Great place if you love nature, it's very beautiful. However, summer months bring lots of road construction. Expect delays and slow travel speeds along with lots of traffic.
