These people towed my wrecked truck less than 10 miles and charged nearly $500. Seriously. They are dishonest. They never received my permission as the vehicle owner. I am considering a small claims action, although i have a relative with a $2500 judgement against these people and it is unpaid. Lesson here is avoid silver lake like the plague!

Only reason I didn't end up getting my car serviced there and only diagnosed there is because the original mechanic who did the brake job gave free labor to fix his mistake that Silver Lakes Auto found when I brought it in for diagnostics.

On a November Wednesday I left home to do some "errands" in a town about 20 miles away. I got gas; I got on the highway for a 20 minute drive. Anyway within 5 miles I knew my tire was not just low, but quite flat. I pulled off highway to first gas station to "add some air" so I could get to a place for assistance. The tire would not hold air! I was able to call a neighbor/friend who picked me up and got me to Silver Lake Auto. Andy Smith maneuvered their very busy business to give his full attention, and schedule a tow and arrange a loaner for me to use; Within about a hour the tow driver called to check on some details! By late afternoon Silver Lake could report what damage there was, that the tire needed to be replaced, and quoted the cost. By the middle of the next morning their call informed me my tire/car was ready for pick up, that there was a 6-8 inch tool IN my tire! How fortunate I was for nothing "worse". How grateful I am for their attention, service, and care. Thank you

Brought my Honda Fit in for front brakes and to diagnose and fix a problem that occurred when I got my car stuck in the snow. I was pretty surprised to hear that the snow damage to the undercarriage would only cost me the fee for inspection/diagnosis. That was a huge relief. Every part of this experience was excellent. I trust these people, and I cannot say that about a lot of other auto service providers.

Our car was recently rear-ended and the exhaust note got noticeably louder afterwards. Your technicians checked it out and found nothing broken; the muffler stub was just vibrating against the displaced rear valance metal at certain frequencies. They did an inspection for any work needed while it was on the lift. When I went to pay the bill, the Service Manager informed me there was no charge! Your staff have always been very helpful and take time to explain everything, which is greatly appreciated.

Excellent place! Honest and trustworthy. Jeep broke down. While they looked at it, they gave a free loner car. They could of just told me it will cost 2,500-3,000 to get it fixed. Told me I wanted fixed they will do it. But said it had other structure problems and wouldn't be worth it. I took the advice and sending the Jeep to it's grave. I went here to get an emissions test done, where I was greeted by a 12 year old boy to perform the test. Everything went okay until I got home to try and remove my key from the ignition to find the key barely hanging onto the key fob. The guy doing the test completely broke my key. I went into the shop out of my inconvenience to see what they could do for me & she basically said my key was faulty already (even tho I had no prior issues) and that I had to pay them to fix THEIR mistake. This will be the last time I go here to get anything done & would not recommend the rude service I received to anyone in the area. I hope that this will be the last time that anyone has to deal with this problem!

My son's Subaru was towed to Silver Lake Auto after he had been in an accident on the freeway. Andrew the service advisor did a fabulous job getting my sons vehicle inspected. The service tech took pictures of the damage and Andrew emailed me the pictures, with an estimate for repair the same day. My insurance company went out to see the car the following day. My insurance adjuster relayed to me the he has been in the insurance claims business for years and was very impressed with Silver Lake Auto. Fantastic Service. I purchased a 2010 Mercedes E350 from a Toyota dealership in Brookfield and thought it'd be a good idea to service the vehicle immediately to ensure future reliability. Being that Silver Lake Auto specializes in Mercedes I decided to take the car there. Silver Lake Auto saved me from a horrendous $4200 repair. I returned the vehicle to the dealer immediately, with documentation. That was just the icing on the cake though. Their staff is very thorough, friendly, and accommodating. Their service write-ups (digital) are more comprehensive and informative that the high-line car dealers in the Milwaukee Metro area. While they operate out of a modest facility, make no mistake, this is a first class automobile service operation. Much like the days of old, where service and customer care mattered. Needless to say, I'll stick to Lexus, and Silver Lake will be servicing all of our vehicles in the future.

Shawn was heading in the other direction on the interstate but turned around to see if I needed help. He had me safely off the interstate and back in my vehicle in no time. Excellent, honest, and flexible staff coupled with grade A work! Amazing experience! My car broke down about 60+ miles from home. Dave from Silver Lake responded quickly and with a plan. I was going to stay in a hotel and because of an oncoming snowstorm and expected cold temperature he suggested it was best to get us back home right away and was willing to drive that far and into the night. He towed the car to my mechanic and dropped my daughter and I at our front door - getting us home near midnight and still with a long drive himself back through the snowstorm. I had my vehicle serviced at this location. I had them do a full diagnostic and inspection on my car and had them replace a small hose. The inspection was thorough and I was satisfied with the repairs. However I later discovered that the technician had not returned all screws and did not properly secure a piece of the plastic grill on the front underside of my vehicle, this is purely cosmetic, however it was not appreciated, and when I called to see if they could put it back, they stated it was never there to begin with. I assume the guy that forgot it likely threw it away to cover his mistake.

Evaluation abilities and knowledge of what needs to be done to maintain my vehicle has been excellent and timely. I have 7 years and 185,000 miles on a Lexus RX350. I'm retired and my plan, with Silver Lake's help, is to reach at least 300,000 miles. So far so good...they have done some major work on my vehicle in order to reach that goal. Trusting their knowledge, background and involvement is key. I am confident in their management of what I perceive as the continuing life-cycle of my vehicle.

Cant beat the customer service and email notification system but the expense of this place is hard on the wallet. $600+ to fix a door handle mechanism, $350 to replace stabalizer links. I recommend the shop and completed work but caters more to the rich.

I drove to Wisconsin from Nebraska last week, I knew something was not right with my tires so I took it in to the shop and they found that the tires needed balanced and an alignment done. They did a great job and even washed my truck when done! Very pleased and it drives like new now.

Unfortunately I have had Hybrid battery issues 2x in 3 years. Both times Silver Lake has done the repair, this time with new strategy. I wasn't offered the 10% discount for hybrid repairs, until I mentioned it to them, then it was applied. There work and inspection are solid.

While I appreciated that Silver Lake Auto did a full inspection of the vehicle, I also realize that that is done as much for my benefit as their own as they are sure to get more work for themselves by identifying issues with a vehicle... I took the vehicle in at a scheduled time and was asked at the desk...."Do you have an appointment...today?" Yes I had one today...or so I was told, though the person at the desk seemed surprised to see me. It took I believe 4 days for the car to get repaired and delivered even though the repairs were fairly mundane. They did ask me if I needed it right away and I said I did not, but still the length of time seemed excessive. I was also quoted $60 to replace a cabin air filter. I declined and did the work myself. The part cost me $13 and took me three minutes to install. Hum...$60 seems a bit expensive for 3 minutes of work and an inexpensive filter. I looked at the parts cost for the serpentine belt they installed. They put the parts cost at $115.46. I'm not sure where they shop but I found several belts on-line ranging in cost from $15 to $46. Installed the belt cost $194.25. I realize the company has bills to pay but the charges for materials seem to me to be excessively high. If they want to charge huge amounts of money for labor costs so be it, but be upfront about it as anyone can look up the cost of parts with Google and a few keystrokes. Disappointed.

Will never go there again! I came in because something happened with my transmission. Turns out that it was something else. That was fixed but of course they said I had numerous other repairs that needed to be done. Now mind you there was no noise in my engine before this and ran like a dream. They said I needed a serpentine belt. So got my truck back and it started squealing after the repair, took it back and then said I needed a tensioner? okay? well still squealed then said I would need a new condenser unit and also said I needed a new battery, My battery was two years old. After I got my truck back, when I would turn sharp it said check charging system so now I was driving and turned a corner and my steering went out! Wow I paid $3000 to have them mess up my vehicle! Update: Jim from Silver Lake Auto contacted me and brought my vehicle in. All problems have been corrected at no charge. Gave me a loaner car and apologized for all of the issues I had. I will be going back. Great customer service follow up and I now feel safe in my vehicle once again. I shall contact him first if any issues occur in the future. My faith has been restored. Fluke accident with a bad belt, replaced and warrantied.

Vehicle is F150 Lariot... Inside of truck was very clean however, running boards bracket was still covered in dirt. Also, I thought that the truck bed was to be detailed, it was not, but I may be guilty of ASSUMING that was part of the price. I would definitely use them again for detailing but would be more specific and once my Ford warranty expires I will give them a try at maintenance. The employees that I dealt with were very pleasant and easy to talk to.

Over priced to a point I can’t even believe. Was quoted $4,300 worth of work for a car that is only worth maybe $4-5,000 on the high end. They also would rather replace an issue in its entirety, rather than try and find the problem, and come up with a cheaper solution. In addition, they only quote and use, “High quality”, “Premium”, or OEM parts, and upcharge then 200-300% from what you can get something for at a place like Autozone. $18/piece for spark plugs? Are you kidding me? Waste of my time on an overpriced diagnostic and the lack of common sense to tell somebody they need $4,300 worth of work on their car that is barely worth that much in the first place. You price yourself out of your own market and lose business that way. Hope people see this and stop getting taken for their lack of knowledge over the nonsense that is Silver Lake Auto & Tire Center’s.

These guys were so wonderful. I can not even begin to express how wonderful this group of people were to us. Something came loose on my car and it broke down on the interstate late Sunday afternoon. I was headed home to Grayslake, Il after being on the road from Minneapolis since 10 AM. I called for roadside assistance and we figured we would be sitting there for a long time. The tow truck showed up in about 20 minutes and a wonderful young man, Brandon rescued us. We were very concerned where to have our car towed to so it could be repaired and how we were going to get home. We figured one of our friends would need to drive 2 hours to pick us up and then take me back the next day. This young man heard our concerns as we discussed our options and offered us a service car to use while the car was being fixed. We did not have to ask any friends to travel that far to pick us up. My car was ready to be picked up the next day right on time and it was washed and vacuumed. The young man who towed our car was so kind and helpful. After we picked up my car they even sent me home with a bag of cookies. Actually they sent us home with two bags of cookies since we had a long drive. I wish I lived closer because Silver Lake Auto would be the only folks who would ever work on my car(s). Thank you so much. Brandon was a God send that day.

I have a 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid. The check hybrid system warning lights came on. Brought the car to my local Toyota dealer and they wanted over $4000 to replace the hybrid battery. Silver Lake Auto was able to remove and test the battery, and replace the bad cell for less than half that price. I was able to get it in for service the following week, and use their loaner car for the time it was there. (I live 2+ hours away) Everything from the quote to the time it would take to complete was accurate and professional. Thank you Andrew! That was 3 months and 3000 miles ago. Problem Solved. If your Check Hybrid Battery light comes on , this is the place to bring it.......

Earlier this year (2018) I bought a 2017 F-150 truck from Van Horn Ford. They have provided all the oil changes and maintenance since then. My schedule would not allow me to get my F-150 in when I wanted because the Service Department was booked for over a week out. Van Horn Ford always provides me with great service. On this occasion, I was late in scheduling my truck. I asked Van Horn Ford if they could recommend another place for me to get an oil change and tire rotation. Van Horn Ford recommended Silver Lake Auto (S.L.A.). It was my first time taking a vehicle to S.L.A. and it was GREAT. Andrew in the service department explained everything and told me about their multi-point checking of fluid levels, belts, tires, air filter, etc. Andrew even showed me pictures of my truck on the outside, pics of the truck's front end suspension, various fluid samples compared to what they should look like, and more. I am "greatly pleased" with Silver Lake Auto and would recommend them to anyone. I do not give many reviews. But when service is this great, I really need to. I had new tires and chrome wheels put on my Truck at Silver Lake Auto a couple of months ago. Everyone especially Mike was so helpful and respectful since I've never purchased these items before, I had a lot of questions for them. Everything went smoothly. Jump forward to last Friday when I unknowingly drove over a 6 inch metal part in the road. The back tire was punctured and ruined. They had replaced the tire and installed it by Monday morning! Only cost to me was rotating the tire. Tires were still under their warranty. I plan on going back to them as soon as my summer car needs tires and wheels. Thanks again S.L.Auto.

Have been there for three sets of tires in the last year, and each time they got me great deals on the tires, with competitive mounting and balancing - but better service than the big shops. Made my cars drive like new, and were proactive but not pushy about the maintenance. Waiting room is spacious, clean and inviting: free cookies, tea, coffee, lemon water, etc. I'd give them 5 stars if their service hours were more accommodating for working folk; i.e. after 5p, on Saturdays or earlier than 7a...especially when an oil change/tire rotation takes an hour and a half.

The staff are kind, accommodating and all around fantastic human beings. If you ever find yourself stranded on the roadside, call Silver Lake Auto. The tow truck diver who picked my car and myself up was friendly, helpful and made me feel comfortable, even though I was literally getting a ride from a stranger. They gave me a loaner overnight, fixed my car the next morning and washed it too! Their price was very fair and the hybrid loaner was free of cost (aside from the fuel I drove out of the tank).
