Two separate occasions I called and spoke with Sarah who was nice enough on the phone at the first call one occasion was to have them pick up a minivan that I no longer wanted and she set up a date and time to pick up my van. They did not show up for that appointment which my wife waited around for and I went through the hassle of rescheduling the pick up two separate times and neither time was there any follow-through they did not show up. I ended up calling a different company which came on time for a same-day appointment. Fast forward to a week ago I called them to inquire about a set of rims with tires on them for my car and I was told that they would be picking up a car that had exactly what I needed that same day and to call back around noon the following day. I called back and they had not picked up the car which is fine and I was told that they would take my number down and give me a call back because they were still scheduled to go pick up that car I waited another day and call them again when another person took down my phone number and I never got a call back it has now been a week and a half and nobody has responded I even emailed them because I seen a post on Craigslist with them selling tires and rims so I emailed them inquiring about the same exact products and again never got a response. So for short I would only call this place again if I was in extreme need of a run around and lack of follow-through which in today's society means they will never get my business.

Went for an oil change and a tire leak fix. cost me 36$, which is pretty cheap. The mechanics look kind of rough and the place is run down but it was fast, cheap and easy which is all I wanted.

American Auto LLC is a family owned business who I take my car to anytime I have a problem as well as my girlfriends car. there oil change prices are very reasonable and there labor rate for full service work is very reasonable as well Sarah and George are very understanding and work with you to get the work you need done in a timely matter!! American auto is the way to go keep it local!!!

If you want to be majorly ripped off, definitely go here. They will not give you anywhere near what your car is worth, and once you've had it towed there, it is too late to do anything else.

Don't junk your cars here. They said they pay cash and received a check. Lady on the phone was rude as hell. Was offered $150 for my car. Called specialized auto and they offered $200 off the bat. Told American auto their offer and about the $25 beat the competitor price they offer on the ad. They didn't want to give it to me because they'd be losing money which is bullshit. Said then I'll let the other guys have it and will be leaving a bad review. After those words were said their mind was changed immediately and they came and picked it up for $225. I'm satisfied but the customer service and how they go about their business is terrible. I would've contacted BBB if they didn't give me what they promised and GUARANTEE. But I'm still leaving a bad review because I am unsatisfied with their customer service and well just about everything. BEWARE OF AMERICAN AUTO LLC they will rip you off if they have the chance.

I've been going there for a few years now. Don't be shined off by other bad reviews, people are junking JUNK cars and getting paid just that and don't seem to like it. I don't have any experience with American auto when it comes to scrapping cars though, just service needs. But, the people there are usually pretty friendly, and always work with me to get what I need. Prices can't be beat on service or used tires. And they usually have what I need in stock. I will continue service with them and recommend to friends and family who need used tires and cheap service done.

They advertise $250 in their ads but don't pay the advertised minimum. First they subtracted $50 because I wasn't in Madison, fine, I needed to get this car out of my driveway. When the tow truck came he told me he couldn't pay $200 due to the condition. Why advertise a $250 minimum? I will be contacting the BBB on this. Fales advertising.

Wow, what else can I say about these guys? After allowing me to have the car I wanted to buy be inspected by a third party, they agreed to fix the few issues that needed attending to at no cost to me. In addition to that, they also towed my old vehicle away at no extra charge, and gave me a ride to the lot! They went out of their way to ensure that I left their lot with a solid, dependable vehicle. I would recommend these guys to anyone who needs a solid, used car at a fair price.

I saw their commercial the other day, so I called about an old car I had sitting around for a couple years. It has just been taking up space in my driveway, and they offered more than I expected. Poor customer service. Bait n switch pricing. Promised me double the money the day before I actually took my car in. Got the feeling this is what they do all the time. Couldn’t get a hold of the guy that quoted the price and then gave a token call to the boss. Companies like this give salvage yards a bad name. Very disappointed and Would not recommend.

First I want to say: DO NOT LET THE APPEARANCE AND LOCATION FOOL YOU! I had a brand new set of winter tires that I needed and mounted. I had already called 18 other auto shops in Madison and no one could our was willing to get me in to do the work. I was desperate to have the tires put in before the big snow as I had much traveling to do. Not only was AA able to get me in same day, right away, but their price was cheaper than ALL of the 18 places I called. Awesome. On top of that the staff were very friendly, despite being busy and freezing, which would make anybody miserable. Also, they took my old corroded rims off my hands and gave me about 50% off on the bill! They told me if you bring parts in for your car, they can put them in for you, just no warranty. That is amazing to me! Most places won't do it because you HAVE to get parts through them so they can charge you a 200% mark-up. This way I can get specific parts that I want put in professionally, AND save money on the ridiculous price they give you for parts. Well recommend all my friends and family to American Automotive.

I’m very disappointed in my experience here. I’d been emailing back and forth about a transmission for my car. I was told that this transmission was available and set up a time to come one week beforehand. When I showed up today, the staff that was working (Matt, I think) wasnt expecting us and they had the owner come. She claimed she never heard of anyone coming and said the transmission was on the top shelf and I was asked to come back an hour later. When I showed up for the second time, Matt had to apologize because the transmission was not there and had probably been sold, and he was left to tell us the news.

FASLE ADVERTISING!!!!..1st. they wont pay the minimum for your car. 2nd. they were late, they called my girlfriend so she could meet they to pick up the car. she left during lunch (which is only a hr long) to go home to meet the person. a hour goes by and she decides to call the place, and what do you know, the person never even left to come to pick it up. 3rd. when he got there he had a attitude already, and he ONLY offered $150 for the car..what?..why do u advertise on your website that you pay top dollar for junk cars, when you DON'T and this car was located in Madison. and she called the day before for a pricing on the car and the lady on the phone said they would PAY the minimum of $250. dont fell for the scam, try another place. trust me not worth your time.

From tires & rims to hard to find used parts as well as new repairs this shop has the capability to take care of all your auto needs. People don't generally schedule their break downs, if it is a time consuming job they will drop you off @ wk *within a reasonable distance* or hook you up with a loaner if there is one available @ the time. This is a smaller shop so the prices are reasonable, and the employees are friendly. If you are looking for a good used vehicle @ a decent price. Their website usually has several available. They also have towing available although I have not had to use that service, just saying.

The best place in Madison for used tires. I stopped in on a Sat. morning looking for 2 used tires for my van. Man working quickly checked, found two, showed me their condition and installed them in no time at a terrific price. Quick, friendly efficient! He let me wait in the office. This place is my kind of place. Real mom and pop atmosphere. Nothing fancy. I am sick of big box tire stores closing down places like this. I'll be spreading the good word. Took my car in to have a terrible metal noise looked at and assumed the worst. The reviews for this place seemed to point towards no bullshit. They're right! They took care of it in less than an hour, it was something so small that they just charged me essentially for the time it took them to look at it. Another shop probably would've tried to get me to buy a totally pointless part they removed, but these guys were honest about what I really needed, and I appreciate that. Thanks again!

Note: If you are considering selling a scrap car to them, try Schmidt's Auto. They gave me a better quote and were friendlier. Tried to sell scrap car - website states "300 Dollar Minimum!" in bold letters. Unfortunately their offer came back for $100. When I mentioned their "promise to beat ANY competitors Quote by AT LEAST $25", the gentleman on the line agreed to add $25 to my previous "best offer". If I brought him the car. I pointed to the website says "American Auto ALWAYS tows away your clunker FREE OF CHARGE!", at which point I realized this conversation was not productive. I did not purchase any service or product from them. This entire experience took place via phone call, resulting from me finding their webpage on Google.

They advertise that they will pay $500 if the vehicle is repairable or in good condition but this did not hold true when we spoke with them. They said there was no way they would give $200 with metal prices being so low. Would not recommend them. Ended up going to All Metal Recycling and they gave us a good deal!

Went here in October to check out a tire that kept losing air. They were very professional about it and got me a FANTASTIC deal on two tires, and didn't even charge me for the initial diagnostic/fixing of my old tire. They have a great tire connection guy (I forget his name), are professional and very affordable. Highly recommended!

I've went to them four times now for car repairs and within a week or two something else goes wrong with my car. I take it back to them only because I always think its something to do with whatever "repair" they did prior, but no it's always something new. I called to ask for a quote to have American tow and junk my car. Two different people at American told me $350-$375. I made an appointment for 9:30 a.m. the next day. At 9:40, no one had arrived. I called and was told that they were on the way. They finally arrived at 10:45. They agreed that the car was exactly as I described but offered $100 less than the quote on the phone after "calling the boss to check on the price". Prepare for missed appointments and bait & switch on a price.

BEWARE!!! The absolute lack of ANY professionalism, not to mention the TOTAL lack "social skills" of the vulgar, defensive, disrespectful "OWNERS"...especially in a "business setting"... and when speaking with "paying customers"...is unacceptable, at best. They show absolutely NO interest in even listening to the customer when they have questions, concerns, or complaints. Instead of displaying even a bit of "class" and at least TRYING to rectify the situation, they are defensive, threatening bullies! They take advantage of their customers with their "false promises", lack of knowledge and skills, and their deceptive business practices...which include "holding vehicles hostage" and FORCING customers to turn over their credit card, ect before these thugs will give them the keys to THEIR vehicle! Specifically referencing my latest (and LAST!) "interaction" with these people, not only did I NOT get ANY answers/responses regarding my vehicle what-so-ever in over TWICE the time as "promised" for repairs to be diagnosed and completed (and had to pay "out of pocket" for a rental car, as they don't even provide "loaner cars" to their paying customers!)...I was then treated BEYOND rudely by the "receptionist" (who also claims to be the "owner"...that is, until she has to answer any basic questions and possibly "hear what she does not want to hear" , and then gets her equally as rude and vulgar husband, George, on the phone, after stating that "she just can't handle this" (No Kidding!) ...just to find that, just as I had been warned by MANY, NO progress had been made on my vehicle AT ALL. So, when I specifically asked them NOT to even TOUCH my vehicle (as I should have never taken it there in the first place, according to MANY reputable sources!) ...and that I would be taking it elsewhere as my vehicle is my "lifeline", being a single mother and working full-time, ect...and ALL they were concerned about were getting there grubby fingers on my credit card! STAY AWAY!!!

Purchased a part over the phone. Was told they would be open Saturday till 4pm. Drove an hour and fifteen minutes to there shop/ store, arrived at 1:38 pm. They were CLOSED! . While standing in drivway I spoke to another customer that drove there, they were told they would be open till 2pm on Saturday. I called Tuesday ( holiday monday ) and was told they would ship it to me. I recieved a call on Wednesday and was told they it was going to cost to much to ship !!! Strongly suggest you find a business that stands behind their word .

Like others here, the "minimum" on the website is definitely not true. I was quoted $150 for a 2000 Taurus that was non-running. Whatever, needed it out of my parking lot. Tow truck shows up the next day at the scheduled time and the driver offers me $100. When I pushed back, he just sort of shrugged at me and didn't budge on the $100 price. Ultimately, I was on a tight timeframe so I took the $100. The staff are easy to work with and they are quick but between the low initial quote and then the subsequent lowball, I will never do business with them again. There are MUCH better options in Madison. It must be true because there couldn't be a worse one.

American Automotive has always been a pleasure to work with, and the owners are knowledgeable people. They are constantly aware of the market for used cars, scrap, and local competitors rates. I have gone to them for some time now to get work done to my vehicles, and I will continue to go to them every year for a used winter vehicle as they work with me on pricing and try to get me the best deal in the area. I don't quite understand others accusations regarding not being payed "enough" for their scrap or used vehicles. To each their own, however; Its unfortunate some of their customers are not as aware of scrap or used vehicle prices as others, as well as the labor and time spent on the process of hauling, storing, and/or fixing these vehicles. They may be purchasing a car from you, but they still need to run a business and end up with some sort of profit. I have, and would reccomend American Automotive to friends and family members. Thank you guys for your excellent services you provide!
