I was in to have a scheduled oil change for my Camry. After the oil change the man servicing my car told me that I had two bad wheel bearings and needed new tires. He tried to convince me to get it done there because I was not safe driving on the roads if I didn't. He quoted it for around 1,000$ and showed me *ONLY* that the front right wheel (the wheel on the steering column, obviously it will wiggle!!) was wiggling back and forth (supposed proof that my bearing was shot.) For a week and a half I drove around 10-15 MPH under the speed limit afraid I would rip my wheel off any faster. I took it to a trusted family mechanic to get it replaced and he told me that there was ZERO movement in the bearing and that someone had tried to jipp me. I should not have to worry about being a woman and taking my car to get serviced and have the mechanics try to trick me into purchasing completely unnecessary things. 0/10 stars if possible.

I brought my mustang here a few months ago ( mind you it's lowered 2 1/2 inches to replace a tire. They replaced my tire great no prob. Today my buddy in his BMW got a leaking tire from valve stem. We drove to this place to remove the valve stem. Service advisor at the counter said nope cars to low mind you my car was low just like his if not lower. Guy said nope can't get them on the lift. Me myself as a service advisor in DC I know the whole story all to well. Why waste an 30-20 min to replace a valve stem when u would charge (if they did it 10-20 bucks) I get it, but bad business. But I understood so I asked to buy a valve stem and just replace it at home since tire doesn't need to come off to replace. Nope don't sell them because they come in a kit? Well me myself as a service advisor know they come in a box of 50 give or take. Thanks for the waste of time guys!

Have been dealing with them for some time and was happy with their service until yesterday. Bought tires there and only have a bit over 15000 miles on them but they have worn very badly. Had the tires rotated and a front end alignment but the tires were still wearing badly. Right front had threads showing. Went in yesterday hoping to get a replacement and was told that I have to buy new tires so that the current ones can be sent back. Then I have to wait to see if an adjustment, credit or refund would be made be cause they don't warranty the tires, they just sell them!!?? These kinds of things should be disclosed to the customer before tires are purchased, not after there is a problem with them. While I appreciate the fact that they did a front end alignment and didn't charge me, that does not help with the tire problem. The tires are rated for 60,000 miles. We only got a little over 15000 and they have to be replaced. To say we are disappointed with McCarthy's is a huge understatement.

Our daughter is in Shepherdstown and we are in wheeling. I get a call from her “Dad one of my tires has a split in the side wall”. I bought a tire here local in wheeling and made the 3.5 hour trip with a matching tire. We did an internet search for a tire shop to change the tire. We came across McCarthy Tire. We got there and I explained the situation needing the tire changed over and balanced. They got me right in and about 15 minutes later we were all mounted and balanced and out the door. Thanks guys much appreciated.

They charged me over $500 to splice my brakes on multiple occasions. I talked to another mechanic and he said he would NEVER recommend a brake splice. I feel like the shop should have been honest with me and explained a full replacement as an option (even if that is a service they do not perform). Instead they put a band aid on and allowed me to drive around in dangerous vehicle.

Took my truck here and was failed an inspection due to a pin hole yes literally a pin hole of a rust spot.. Also they said the windows were to dark. Then why did you pass ot the year before with the same pin hole rust spot and the same tiny? Seems like everytime I tale ot to this place there's always something new with them.. Also they said it failed because of the serpentine belt?? Really, I've never seen anyone get under the hood of a vehicle for an inspection.

First time recieving oil change, they told me to bring back in a week (never mentioned anything leaking). After leaving went to the store and car was leaking very bad. I called but was closed I thought I would give them the benefit of doubt and wait a week but I took pics and video just in case. I went back and now need a new radiator and car won't stop leaking and no one knows anything even with pics showing the same day leaking. You try and trust people with your car , you can't. If you see anything wrong don't wait take back immediately or you may be like me and have damages without any help.

I have been using McCarthy service for several years and while they are busy, as they have a lot of customers,t it's just a matter of scheduling to get quicker service and dependent on what type service your auto needs. They have always treated me well and have guaranteed their work. I have been very pleased with the results and plan to continue to use them.

I wouldn't rate this place but had too. Poor customer service because they don't have the time for you. But, when someone they know comes in they bs around and drop the f bomb in every other word. I know it's labor day weekend but if you stop in because you have an issue and they won't take the time to even glance at your vehicle but they have the time to stand around and wait to leave....REALLY!!!!!!

Took my car there a while back, and told them that I believed it needed the timing belt replaced. They replaced the timing belt and the car has been leaking oil ever since. Took it back and the mechanic said they found a bolt that wasn't completely tightened. They made a minor adjustment and assured me the problem was corrected. The car still leaks oil, and the manager claims it had nothing to do with the repair they made, but the car had never leaked before. Now they claim I need a valve cover and gasket replaced, but there was no note of the car leaking during the course of the previous repair. Coincidence ? I think not - I think that's why the name changed from Duncan Tire Service 7 years ago to McCarthy Tire Service, the name changed, but the reputation hasn't.

My soon to be 80 year old mother dropped her car off here as my recently deceased father did several times for an oil change. She got a phone call from them. He told her he had bad news that her car had a oil leak around the valve cover gasket and her passenger side strut had blown out and all the oil had leaked out of it. He gave her a price of over 1100.00 to fix it. I am her son and she called me and gave me the news. So I put a stop on it and we went and took the car for a second opinion. So today we got the second opinion and as I suspected the valve cover had loose screws and this mechanic tightened them down. No more oil leak and GCR.was going to charge well over 300.00 dollars. Then they checked the passenger side strut and yeap you got it, the strut was fine and NOT blown out. Bill was going to be well over 700.00 for that. My 80 year old mother was told it was going to cost her over 1100.00 to fix it all. Stay away from this place. BTW this is only the beginning. They will be turned in and the word will be spread. Nice try G.M. Only question I have is, how do you sleep at night ? And, oh yea, she ended up spending nothing, as in zero.

4 stars for tires, alignment and inspections. Otherwise look elsewhere. I've been patronizing this business for about 18 years. I think they successfully did a brake job once, but I won't risk any mechanical work there again. I had a radiator flush years ago, and when I got home, my engine was overheated. They did not tighten the drain. We recently had a rotate and balance, and they cross-threaded a wheel bolt. Glad I caught it. They fixed it though. I'll still buy tires here. They used to have a shop across the road on Seibel drive. This is the true story that will make you do all your own oil changes (like me). It was the first oil change on a new Honda. I drove it back to my place of employment and smoke was coming up from under the hood. There was no oil on the dip stick. They towed it back, cleaned the engine, and refilled it with oil. When I picked it up the next day, the "mechanic" was trying to concoct wild explanations for what happened - almost funny, but not really.
