These guys got me in and out quick, when I needed an inspection on the wife's car (3 months out of date). Great service, and thorough.

The team at University Tire did a nice job replacing a bad tire and took the liberty of rotating the tires to put the new one in the best position. They had the work done in the time frame I requested. Nice work, thanks.

Slow service. Bought 4 new tires and was told it would take approximately hour and a half to mount. Been waiting 2 and a half hours and still not done.

I visited the Seminole Court location for an alignment check. I was told just an alignment check was $79.99, the price of an actual alignment. They told me it was so much trouble to do a check, theyight as well do the alignment. I simply said, "okay", and left, and I watched the angry look on the representative's face. I went to my car and was making a phone call before pulling out, and the same rep came out to check the car next to me. He made a point to push against my car to the point where I could feel my car rocking. He then used my car as a support to push himself up off the ground after checking the other car, pushing hard against my fender. I can't help but believe all of this inconsiderate behavior was due to the fact I scoffed at his price for an alignment check. Not only did the guy earn a negative online review, he also ensured I will never set foot in a University Tire and Auto again. I will also share my experience with Goodyear customer service when I call them for a recommendation for a reputable dealer.

I went to university tire three weeks ago for an oil change, power steering fluid replacement, and new brake pads. After driving it for a week, my car was still making weird noises when I turned the steering wheel. I called and asked if anyone could look at it before I went on a long road trip and was told that they were backed up and couldn't get to it anytime soon. There was no kind of customer service or recognition that they might have caused the problem. A week later, I took my car to a trusted mechanic in my hometown for him to assess the problem. He said that the brake lines weren't re-attached properly. I won't be taking my car back to university tire.

Cara Turett

Great service at this location! Efficient, honest and did a great job.

Went out of their way to get my inspection done within a limited time frame. Will definitely recommend!

I was staying in Charlottesville earlier this month, in order to escape the hurricane and flooding that was taking place where I live in NC. I felt the need to get my car checked out here, while on my own. I was told to replace all 4 tires which I did, trusting that I was given solid advice. I was told two of the tires were in bad shape. I was also told that the rear brakes were in bad shape, along with various parts that go along with the rear brakes such as the calipers, hoses, pads, and rotors. The brakes alone were quoted at $800, while the tires were over $600. As a single teacher from NC, money is tight enough. I went to this location, because it was near the hotel I was staying out, and it had many decent reviews. I normally would not place a review, but I am as a warning to other single women that may go here. I chose to not get my brakes fixed here, because I didn't have enough after the tires, and I needed to pay for some additional nights in hotels. Once I got back home, I went to a well known and honest mechanic in my area. He replaced what actually did need replacng in regards to the brakes, and it only cost me $205 compared to the $800 I was quoted. Save your money, if possible.

I was visiting from out of state and my truck tire had a slow leak. Bill and the staff were extremely efficient and professional. Thank you again.

I just spent three very wasted hours waiting for my car at University Tire and Auto in the Seminole shopping center. I went in for a State inspection - $16 and came out with a $49 bill. They told me it would take an hour, hour and a half max (quote when I signed in) and I was there just under three hours. I even left with my four year old and walked her clear across the shopping center for a long lunch and came back over an hour later and they hadn't even moved my car into the garage yet. There was actually another patron in the waiting room sleeping he'd been waiting for so long - longer than I'd been there. They offered to put my new plates on for me and charged me $18 for the trouble - ridiculous. I could have done it myself while I was waiting if I'd known the cost. They told me they wouldn't scrape any of the stickers off my windshield - I asked specifically - then proceeded to do it anyway then got huffy when I asked for my stickers back. I understand now that it's a State law, but then be honest about it when I ask. I would have asked for them to be careful and save them for me - it wouldn't have been a big deal, but I don't appreciate being misled. They said a light above my plates was out and needed replacing to pass inspection - another $13. Who knows if this was true - I just had an inspection in March before moving to VA - passed without incident - but you have to trust them when they have your car hostage. Trusting them led to an over inflated bill and a totally unreasonable wait time. Did I mention they were surely and rude as well? Will never EVER go here again or any of their other locations.

I recently went to University Tire & Auto in Seminole Square to get four new tires. I chose this business because they had the best online price in Charlottesville for the tires I wanted. I was expecting to spend no more than $500 for my set of Michelin tires. I left having spent $580. That's AFTER the $70 instant rebate (their current promotion). I had an appointment in the morning, supposedly as soon as the technicians got in, and I ended up waiting in the waiting from from 9:45am until 1:45pm. Not only that, but they snapped one of my car's hubcaps. At first I got an "oops, sorry" kind of thing. After I very clearly questioned their ability to remove hubcaps, the guy offered to look into a replacement for me. Only good thing about this visit- he came back an hour later and said he found one and they were covering it. At the same time the guy took me back to show me my broken hubcap, he also told me my rear brakes needed cleaning, and that instead of my brake performance ratio being about 60:40 front:rear, mine was 90:10. I called bs on that, and said I'd take it to the dealer to get fixed another time. If I were to give them a score out of 10, I'd probably give them a 3. I got great tires and a new hubcap out of it. But it sure wasn't worth the hole in my wallet or the stress.

Sloppy work. Botched oil change. My car was on the lift for nearly two hours for a simple oil change, then I had to smell oil burning off my engine for the next week. I knew the management knew the mechanic screwed up, but they did not bother telling me, just handed me the bill and a quick 'have a nice day'. Letting me know the filter gasket was installed wrong and oil was ejected under pressure would have been a decent professional courtesy, not to mention how can I be confident they did not damage my engine? I may trust these guys to change my tires in the future, but Jiffy Lube will be doing my oil changes from now on. Yes Jiffy Lube can lube circles around these clowns. Sloppy work and disrespectful of long time repeat customer. Have a nice day.

They got me in and out quickly, but didn’t sacrifice service for speed. The staff was friendly, the lobby and bathroom were both clean and neat. I couldn’t be more pleased with my experience and will certainly be a repeat customer!

Excellent service and hospitality. I needed a tire on special order and they kept me posted on my tire situation since it was taking than expected to get to the store. They tracked the tire for me without me having to ask.

Extremely dissatisfied with service from this shop. Took my Honda CR-V, because of check engine light. On April 28 2016, I was told that I did not close the gas cap tightly which they said caused a large evap leak. It coasted me $ 87.10 with military discount. On July 17, the check engine light came on again, went back to this shop. Someone from the shop asked me, if I drove my car with gas cap open, I said no, than he asked me if I put cheap gas to the car. I asked him what he meant by cheap gas, he asked me if I used gas from “Sheetz” and told me not to use “Sheetz “gas, because they use recycled gas of bad quality and was giving the wrong signal to the car computer. I followed the advice. On August 29, the check engine light came on again. I took my car back. This time they did smoke check and I was told nothing leaks. But they have to do more test and advised me to bring car back on Monday. On Monday, they told me that I needed to leave the car over night to run more test. Someone from the shop called me and said it was the bad purge solenoid. It took 2 more days to replace the part and I was able to pick up the car on September 2. The manager told me I shouldn’t have any more problems with the check engine light. It costed me $314.66 with military discount. On November 26, the check engine light came on again, I decided to take my car to the Honda dealer and explained the history of the problem. I was told that it was the bad gas cap causing the problem. There was a couple of small cracks around the seal and caused the evap leak and that was triggering the check engine light to come on. They replaced the gas cap and ran the test and it passed. The dealer told me that if University tire & auto did the smoke check they should have found the cracked gas cap at that time. I went back to the shop and talk to the manager to see if they were willing to refund some of the money that I had paid and the manager became very defensive and wanted to know the person’s name from the dealer so he could call. They did not provide me with the computer code for the bad purge solenoid on my receipt after the computer diagnostic test. After reading some of the reviews, I am not confident that all the work was completed as they had said. I regret that I had not read all the bad reviews prior to taken my car to this shop. UPDATE : Ever since the Honda dealer replaced a gas cap, check engine light never came back on again.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY (and their response to my review is also a lie, they did NOT offer or in any way try to make ANYTHING right and they WERE made aware of the issues because I brought them to their attention. They did NOT try and fix anything then and they have NOT tried to make it right now either)!!! I had a flat tire on I-64 and I had my van towed here to get a new tire. They put on a new tire, I asked for the road hazard coverage (which I have on ALL of my tires on ALL of my vehicles) and I thought everything was great. Key word in that last sentence is 'thought". Less than an hour later I had ANOTHER flat tire! Guess which tire? Yes, the very same tire that they had just replaced!!! I should add that the tire I bought was a BRAND NEW tire. Not a used one! I had my van towed back to this place. They advised me that one of my rear leaf springs was broken and that is what popped both the first tire and then the new tire. I asked why they didn't see that the first time they replaced the tire and they had no reason. I looked at it and you could EASILY see that it was broken and had a sharp edge. And from the damage from my first tire, they should have been looking for a cause from something like this. There is no excuse for this kind of incompetence. And to top it all off... they told me that I had not asked for road hazard, when I had expressly asked for full road hazard coverage on the new tire!!! So I had to buy ANOTHER new tire, pay to fix the spring and they did NOT even apologize for ANY of their mistakes!!! I spent money on TWO tows, two tires and lots of wasted time. It could have ALL been avoided had they done their job correctly the first time. Ruined my day and cost me lots of money I did NOT have to waste!!!! No one wanted to help me in person that day. I called in several times after it happened and NO ONE wanted to admit that they had done anything wrong and they refused to make it right. Again, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Please also note that I DID let them know on several occasions and give them the chance to make things right and they DID NOT in any way admit that they were at fault or even try to correct ANY of their multiple errors! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!

I've had tires installed, alignments and some other service done over the last three years or so and the service has been very good. My wife had an alignment and balance done and although she did have to take it back once to get it tuned in a little better they took care of it promptly at no charge. They will inspect your brakes at no charge also. Shop around for tire prices but I think they will match competitor's pricing.

I thought they did a great job with my 60k mile tune up and right CV axle replacement but I had two leaks under the hood 2 weeks later. I found out they had put the WRONG CV axle replacement on my vehicle (leak #1) - the poor fit was why there was a leak Also they did not seem to notice my radiator was damaged while fixing everything else (leak #2). I thought their service was thorough and honest but when asked about the CV replacement and particularly if they changed the seal they could not confirm nor deny that they replaced *all* the parts (and if they ordered the correct part there wouldn’t be a leak!). After going to them for 4 years I’m very disappointed in them - I trusted them to service my car so I could safely drive across country- poor choice for sure. $2k spent and only stress and time more to pay. Not to mention endangering my family during a cross country trip. Note: there is a warranty claim company for services, if you have a problem ask Univ. Auto to pass you to them. The out of state auto mechanic called both Univ. Auto & warranty Co. on my behalf and sorted the issue. WRT VA inspections at Univ. Auto: in order to get an VA inspection appointment I found I had to book it as an oil change or otherwise as they told me they were busy on multiple occasions for *just* an inspection alone but if I booked for an oil change even if I did not get that done they would usually have time... I get it’s a $$$ profit thing, but it’s still frustrating for a customer to go out of their way just to get something needed done.

Took my truck to this location made appt for 8am didn’t start on my truck till 9 am had them put on a cvaxle inner and outer tire rods and wheel alignment I provided the parts went back the next day because truck was shaking and they took it back and said nothing was wrong two weeks later the cvaxle came out of the transmission while i was driving down 64 had the truck towed to them they stated that the cvaxle malfunction and not under warranty due to my buying the part myself I took the part back to the manufacturer because it had a lifetime warranty and they stated there was nothing wrong with the part so they could not return my moneys and that the installer put the part in wrong needless to say they would not own up to there employee putting the cvaxle in wrong and I’m out a whole truck totalled my transmission now I have a paper weight thanks for nothing I would not recommend this location totaled my truck and took my money shame on you.

I go out of my way to use the Seminole Square location in Charlottesville. Always professional, courteous and fair. Today they drove me to work and delivered my vehicle back to me at work. That is great customer service!

Went in today for an inspection and when my car was almost done the mechanic came and told me to pass inspection I needed new wiper blades and they would be $14.99. I said ok I don't have a problem with you changing the blades just make sure you put original ones in there. He said yes I will put the original ones for your honda but it'll be $24.99. I said ok that's fine. Car comes out and it's 3rd party blades. I go back in and tell the guy hey they put wrong wipers I ask for original ones and he proceeds to tell me that the original ones the insert can't be replace when I've changed it in the pass. He then goes to get the blades and I show him you indeed can replace them. Then he tells me the ones they put on the car are actually better and I tell him once more I asked for the original ones. Then he tries to scare me saying he was going to reject the inspection. Calls honda gets the part 6.99 each. I know because I also called honda. Change the blades again. It took maybe 5 min. The desk guys didn't say anything. So I came up and told him you charged me 24.99 per blade and I know you got them from honda at 6.99. He goes to adjust the price. Charged me 7.99 per blade which I understand but then added an install fee Of $20. When I asked he said the blades they have are easier to install and they don't charge for those but the original insert is too hard which is not true. Didn't feel like arguing more. Never coming back. Ripped off.

Worst Tire Center ever been to did they put two tires two brand new tires on my truck and then they didn't even bounce them I guess they figured I was out of town that they can take advantage of me

Wes Ellis

Never got out of this place for a State Inspection for less than $800 bucks. Last month they told me that my tires that have less than 5000 miles on them needed replacing. They replaced my wife's tires two months prior that had less than 10,000. I'll never go again.

Michael Gil

Very helpful staff. Out of towner and had a long drive ahead. They changed a tire in under an hour even during an extremely busy Saturday morning rush and at a great price. Would highly recommend.

William Hughes

I called and scheduled an appointment for the next day at 7 am when they open. Woke early, drove 20 minutes into town, got there at 7:01, and was told that the woman who took my reservation should have announced that they would need a three hour window for my car inspection. A backlog from the day before meant I definitely wouldn't get service until 10. Guy at the desk tried to be helpful and offer a ride, but I left and will give my business to someone else. The whole notion of a reservation is that they "reserve" the time. Even an hour wait I could have dealt with creatively. Three hours?! No way.

Jordan McCoy

Will absolutely never be back to this place. We had a great first experience and have given them the benefit of the doubt through several subsequent disappointing visits. Left in tears this morning with how frustrated I was with their service. Would not recommend to anyone.

Erin Hernandez

This place is great. I called ahead of time to get schedule an appointment and get a price estimate for scheduled maintenance. Bob took the time to run through all the different services my CRV required and gave me a price estimate. I dropped the car off at around 11 and it was done by 2pm. No appointment necessary. They are looking to save you money and won't advise you to have maintenance done that is not really needed. This is the second time I have been here and it was excellent both times. I love going to places with great service. I will be getting my CRV serviced here from now on.

Lisa Spears

Great service, the staff are very helpful and friendly.

Let me share my experience with University Tire and Auto last week. My vehicle was overheating. I took it in to have it looked it. It needed a new radiator fan. University Tire and Auto quoted me $1,967 for a new radiator fan. I'm by no means an automotive expert. But this seemed out of line. Sure enough, one phone call later, I found that the fan costs less than $400. I called back to ask how long the labor involved in the installation was. Less that two hours I was told. The part was being quoted at $1,100. I asked if I brought the part to them if they could install it. They said they could not. I took my car to another shop that afternoon and had the work done for $600. BEWARE AND GET OTHER QUOTES BEFORE LETTING UNIVERSITY TIRE AND AUTO REPAIR YOUR VEHICLE.

Dilbert Resvicksonburg

Defrauding customers is customary. Worst shop and customer service in town.

Tang Q

If you win a lottery, it might be good place to service your car. My car got towed to that place and I paid almost $600, only a few dollar short of that amount, to replace the starter with a remanufactured one. I felt I got well taken advantage of since I didn’t call in ahead for an estimate. Not worth it for your hard-earned money.

Under no circumstances will I or my family take our cars here EVER AGAIN! I made an appointment early in the week online and was given a response to my questions regarding the state inspection. I arrived 10 minutes before my scheduled time, was checked in and went to wait. An hour later my car still hadn't moved, I asked how much longer before they inspected my car and he told me at least an hour to an hour and a half. I immediately got up took my keys back and left. Far and away the most unprofessional behavior regarding an appointment system. The front desk man told me you are unable to make appointments for state inspection, yet I did online and in their comments they didn't tell me that was a problem, nor did he inform me of the wait time when I walked in. I am beyond livid with the treatment and carelessness of their customers. I made an appointment for a reason and went to great lengths to be there on time and planned my day around this. I would strongly encourage you to take your business anywhere else in Charlottesville than here.

Rafael Torres

I took my car here for a state inspection, and they told me that i need to replace the wiper blade , so i decided to get it done even if the blades was still ok , they offer a ride to my home because the inspection took 2 hours, but they left me waiting my ride right back, after 3 more hours i decided to take my trip walking 30 min to get there and pickup my car, so total time to make a state inspection and change wiper blades 5 hours, i wasted half the day and $72 , that's not fair.

Kitty Kat

I've never had a problem with this location though I've heard from others that other locations of this chain aren't as reliable. I called up to ask for a quote on brakes and rotors and upon receiving the bill it was less than they quoted, which I enjoyed.

RhysOfMind

When people worry about whether or not the mechanic shop they're going to will be full of dishonest scum, this is the place they're thinking about. Slow, moronic, and completely inept, this location and its employees are exactly what you want to avoid when dealing with your car. I brought mine in because it wasn't accelerating smoothly anymore, and after a few days of talking to them on and off, they wanted to sell me a procedure that they said would fix the problem, but it was to cost an exorbitant amount. Suspicious, I took my car to a local mechanic (Peacock auto, for those interested) and he gave me an honest assessment of my car and the problem. In the end, I saved a vast sum of money that would have been wasted on a completely useless procedure. Then, just to test them to see if they really were the lying garbage they seemed to be, I brought in the same car when different employees were working, and they wanted to sell me ANOTHER procedure, completely different from the first, that was supposed to fix something else that was unrelated to the actual problem with my car. Overall, I'd recommend to stay far, far away, unless you enjoy wasting money and dealing with people who not only suck at their job, but are also trash human beings.

James Skidmore

I had a flat tire repaired and it only took about 30 minutes and they checked the air in my other tires.

Excellent service

I spent a non-productive day for a regular oil chain. Horrible customer service. Lack of professionalism. I arrived at 7.45 am for an appointment at 8am for an oil change. I waited for 3 hours in the facility and the car was not ready yet. I returned home with a taxi (10 extra bucks). They called me around 6pm. They said they did not have a courtesy shuttle at that time. Another taxi cab to get there. Never more!

Theodore Jones

I was really happy with my tires and the price, though they didn't honor my appointment time. I have had an even bigger issue that arose later. They did not properly tighten my wheel lugs on one wheel. I had the one stud that was tightened break off on the interstate highway and had to pull off to the side of the road at night. This could have turned out much worse than it did, I'm glad myself or no one else was hurt or killed.

Gertrude Morley

Service was excellent, felt like they cared about keeping me more as a long term customer instead of a one time paycheck.

Fast Eddy

I had a tire with a small slow air leak that had lasted several weeks, but could never find a nail, screw, or any other source for the leak. Finally stopped in to get it checked out. They did a free inspection and found that the leak was due to the tire not being properly sealed with the wheel. They fixed the problem by adding more sealant at no cost. Hopefully the leak is permanently fixed. Will go back to these guys again for any new tire issues if their fix works.

Angie Akacki

We are new to Cville and this is our new auto place. Dakota is awesome! Friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. This was our third visit (inspection and two regular maintenance oil/tire stuff). Thank you so much for everything and the prices are fantastic!!!

jonnn56

Brought my car in for an oil change, the guy comes out with 3 of my lug nuts broken and asked I'd like to buy a set. When I refused, they replaced my lugs with regular lug nuts and not the Chrysler lug nuts they broke! Former CS REP from Brown Dodge! DUH!

Michael Brame

Clean and we'll run shop. Resonance prices.

stacyleona1

Dropped my car off prior to 0730 for an inspection and by 1:00pm it still hadn’t been done. In fact, 3 cars left over from yesterday had STILL not been touched and were ahead of me. Terrible! Who has time for this? I took my keys back and left. Also, their price for inspections is $45. Is this inflated over other shops? Never again.

Roy King

They did an amazing job. The shuttle was great also if you need to be dropped off or picked up.

CD Fun

Rip off!! Went for a State inspection in the Ruckersville location. They literally made up errors to fail inspection/get money out of me. One of it is the tint on my rear window had bubbles. Accepted the failed inspection and will get it inspected at an honest place like Chucks Auto repair. I will never go back here again!

KIm John

Inspection and service less than 1 hr. Nice staff and great service. Have been using for several years and will return.

Eddie Mikell

I made an appointment at this horrible place to have my tires on my mini-cooper replace. I told them I need to be to work by 8:30. No problem they said, they would have the tires there, and if I got there by 7:30, I would be out by 8. I arrive at 7:30. First the Indian that was there was on the phone with someone, and completely ignored me. He was quoting someone a price, and instead of taking a customer there, he continued a snow job on this person for 25 minutes. Then he tells me the truck will not arrive for another 2 hours. I left and I NEVER intend to do business with them again.

Ryan M. Noebels

University tire and Auto helped me out of a really bad spot when I had sudden car trouble. They were able to diagnose what was wrong in no time and gave me their honest opinion on what to do going forward, even though it wasn’t the most profitable option for them. They have earned a loyal customer for life.

Katherine Goodfriend

Came in for an oil change for the 1st time what a great experience Tim was very professional and got me in & out extremely quick .. I will for sure be back !!!!!

Sur Viv

These guys are very unprofessional and dishonest. They ripped me off with my inspection. Said I have a bad rear motor mount and will for 400$ so I reluctantly did it. Nothing seemed different. Then I notice my engine bouncing around when shifting gears. They said the other mounts were bad but passed inspection. They didn't inform me of this. So for another 600$ they said they replaced all the mounts but only did 2. Engine still bounces. The guy Tr___s wanted to come to my house and park where I do to see if the car he brought would do the same clanking when shifting into gear. Who does that!!! They also denied breaking my air intake but they did. They are nothing but con men and criminals. I would take my car to a 5 year old before I go there again. DON'T DO IT!! THEY ARE PROFESSIONAL LIERS NOT MECHANICS !!! Also...awe nevermind. Not worth anymore of my time. Good luck

John Gault

Went there in a previous year for a front end brake pad replacement, a 30 dollar set of brake pads cost me over 200 to have them installed, was not happy about this to say the least. I should have spent an hour and done it myself. Gave them another chance for my state inspection this year and after waiting 2hours was presented with a huge laundry list of non-essential items that "needed replacing" which was all nonsense. I was on a deadline and needed to have the vehicle approved quickly to go out of town for work. After arguing with the manager I was able to chew the list of items down from over $400 to under $180.00 to get the inspection sticker. What a rip-off, none of the items were in any way necessary or made the vehicle unsafe. I gave in because I didn't have the time to screw around anymore and it was getting late in the day leaving me no time to go elsewhere. Needless to say I will never set foot in this place again.

Casey Rowzee

Went in for my first state inspection and I was out in 40 minutes. Everyone was very friendly and they have a comfortable waiting area.

I have been bringing my car to University Tire and Auto at Seminole Court for several years for oil changes and tires. Nearly all of the time service is very slow. Today it took over 2.5 hours to put on 4 new tires. Always further service is suggested, and at least half of the time a I have found through a second opinion that that further service is not needed. The people are pleasant, but I can't say I trust them. And they certainly don't respect their customers' time.

Daniel Abrams

Ryan Shane

Some of the best service I have ever received! Not only are they good people, they are extremely knowledgeable. I was having tire issues and took it to a dealership and another tire store and neither could fix it, but they fixed it with ease.

Elaine Wright

Very honest auto center that is Triple AAA approved. I would recommend them during state inspection. They will repair nail in tire and rotate my tires free.

Tony Powell

Great tires, great prices!!!!!

Val VLXpress

Very positive experience. Travis was professional & made sure my vehicle was repaired right! Highly recommended!

Monday, April 30, 2018, I desperately walked into the Seminole Trail University Tire Auto Center to get a state inspection. I was attended to in a timely manner and given an approximate time the service would be completed. In addition, it was suggested that I needed an oil change. All of the service was completed within an hour because a couple of customers was ahead of me. The staff especially Travis was very attentive, helpful, respectful and professional. I left 100% satisfied. I will definitely return for auto service in the future.

Love them! When you bring in your vehicle for a repair or oil change, they let you know exactly what is going on with your car. You don't have to do the repairs they suggest but hey its my car and I want to ride SAFE. They did a great job finding out that my car was in poor condition in one area that could've led to something serious. I would say if your not happy with them you obviously have patience issues or something. It TAKES TIME TO FIX A CAR ITS NOT INSTANT LIKE A VIDEO GAME! Please give them your time and you wont regret it, try and give your time to some other shops in town, where they take your money and look the other way when you come back. Awesome job guys keep up the great work.

What an experience !!! Came in 2 get 2 front tires on my car that was damaged from me hitting a curb. Tim at the front counter was extremely helpful, kind and efficient . The shop is very busy but I will tell you it's definitely worth time and wait ...

Cheryl Drew

Frank was super helpful and friendly when I came in for an oil change today! I needed to get some of my tires replaced and he was very informative and everything was fairly priced. I will definitely come again and recommend this University Tire and Auto Center to people I know!

I brought my vehicle there for a brake job and described how it was surging during breaking, and seemed like it had warped rotors. They changed the pads and said that the rotors were fine, and that they couldn't determine the cause of the surging. I had the vehicle checked out by a different mechanic who said that the rotors were definitely warped. After informing University Tire and auto of their mistake, they said that they would change the rotors and not charge for labor. What they didn't tell me was that there a $60 upcharge on EACH ROTOR. I found this out after I asked why I was paying over $300 for only two rotors when the most expensive rotors I could find online were $100 each. Go here if you like getting ripped off.

Tobias Wilbur

I woke up to a flat tire and had to leave town that afternoon - they worked me into the schedule without an appointment and got me out of town on time. Thanks ya'll, Ill be back!

I don't know if I could ever say enough positive things about University Tire & Auto! We were broken down in Charlottesville (while being from Knoxville) with a car that we had just purchased a few weeks before. Bill worked with us the whole time and did more for us than the dealership we bought the car from! Bill knew that we were from out of state, in a hurry to get home. He had our car looked at in just a matter of time and he sat with us while we were on the phone with the dealership that we bought the car from. He even called Chevy to check on the warranty on our car and found out that we did still have one. We would have ended up with a pretty high bill due to the work that needed to be done, but thankfully he sent us to Chevy and GM was billed for all of the work. Bill and everyone at University made our situation so much better. I would recommend anyone and everyone to visit them!

Two tires quoted as $50 each ended up costing $200. Got a state inspection too and they gave me attitude when I said I'd make the fixes myself. They wanted $200 to "diagnose" the problems. I fixed them for $60 in parts. Then they were rude when I came back for the $1 reinspection. Crummy service, and seems like they're looking for ways to part you from your $.

As a 25+year customer of UTire and mostly happy with the service received, I had the opposite experience today. 1. Arrived at 7am (time they open) for a state inspection on 7/25 expecting to be there for half the day. I was told there were 7 other customers in front of me. UUGGHH! Okay, no problem I brought work to do. (But still think there has to be a different way to handle the deluge of state inspections the last week of the month.) 2. When I asked if I could get a shuttle at 12:30 to an appt, I was told the shuttle only runs at 7:30am and after that he only shuttles tires between the UTire locations. So I had to take the 7:30 shuffle to the vicinity of my mid-day appt and then walk back to UTire afterwards!! If you are going to advertise you provide a shuttle, but restrict the time it is available, then post that in your media posts!! (I was back in time to see my vehicle be serviced from 3:30-4:15.) 3. Also, the service desk staff should not verbally choose to refuse to answer the phone when they recognize a customer's number because her car is not ready. This was all voiced while I sat waiting for my vehicle. When there are two people at the desk and no customers standing at the desk waiting, they should answer all phone calls....Customer Service 101.

Chantel McSkimming

Excellent service, manners. Very happy. They fixed my tire very quickly.

Eric Coleman

Terrible customer service- my girlfriend took my car an her car to get a simple inspection, not the case. When she was getting her car worked on they did a oil change on her car without asking her in a manor that she understood. They charged her an she didn’t realize that until I came to pick up my car. When asking about the mix up, we were to blame an it was our fault for the mix up an still made us pay....

Todd Wayne

Frank and his team and 200 seminole court are 5 star. Honest, quick, and competent.

Marquise Wayne

I been here to get my tires changed twice and they do an excellent for a reasonable price

Joshua Reyes

Great service! They don't overcharge and haven't tried to upsell me services I don't need. Reliable advice. Multiple locations and great hours!

Josh Odrich

Please have confidence in this facility! I am a car guy and Travis and his team are top notch. Couldn’t be happier!

dnkyklr13

Travis was amazing and stayed late to finish my car. Would highly recommend!

It was a great pleasure to talk to Mark at University Tire Seminole Location today. He was nice and he was explaining about our tires.

Awesome job.....state inspection, new tires for my first winter experience after 20 years in Florida. Friendly, courteous, and everyone there makes you feel very comfortable. Plus June is a wonderful man who drives you home and picks you up when your car is ready! Fabulous! Elaine B

Terrible, liars, took my car couple of years ago for state inspection. the car was in great condition. they lied to me saying that a battery case need to be installed or the state inspection will be rejected. they charge over 200 $ for that then I learned that inspection does not include the battery case.

Carol Miller

Great service. Our daughter broke down in Charlottesville from out of town and the tow truck brought her car here. They were very honest and upfront with us. Our car unfortunately was not repairable and we ended up donating it to the Make-a-Wish Foundation. University tire and auto let us keep the car there until the Foundation could pick it up and didn’t even charge us for diagnosing the problem (bad transmission).

Aaron Cushing

In and out for a state inspection.

Lisa Horning

Frank and Travis were friendly and thorough. Even held on to my coffee mug I left on there counter when I dropped off my car. Be sure to take your vehicle needs to these folks. They wont let you down

Alfred Cooper

Their tire prices are competitive. They can have many tires to you and on your car the same day. They do alignments and rotations, and they offer a store credit card if you don't have the cash to pay today.

Lydia Troutman

I came here for the first time for an oil change and a state inspection. overall this was a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend UTAC to others. One recommendation, would be for the lobby to stock more ladies magazines aka, people, us, cosmopolitan etc. I will be coming back to this location for all my vehicle service needs.

Fritz Repich

Nathan and team did an awesome job. Had an unexpected issue with wheel bearings that left me stranded. Auto was towed directly to University Tire and the team handled it from there. Assessed the entirety of the issues, provided great communication in explaining the extent of the damage and complete the work in no time. Up and running for a week with no problems. Good job guys.. Thanks!

Jennifer Kaplan

I took my car here to get an inspection. I know that the car is older, and could potentially have trouble passing inspection, so I stressed that they call if anything came up. Several hours after dropping the car off, I got a call telling me that the car was ready to be picked up. When I came in to get the car, I first had to wait ~10 minutes until anybody could help me. Finally, someone took my name, and then informed me that I owed $969. I was of course taken aback by this, and he started to list all of the individual costs that added up to this huge amount. From the way he was listing them, and since I had been told the car was ready to be picked up, I assumed that all of these had been done without my consent. He disappeared, and brought someone else to talk to me. This person claimed that they had called and left a message (which never happened). He then told me that the car failed inspection, and there was a long list of things that needed to be done in order for it to pass, making it clear that nothing had actually been done to the car. I don't have any idea how someone could call me to tell me the car was done and ready to be picked up, when in actuality it had failed inspection, and they needed to get permission to do a lot of things. Since the car is 17 years old, and clearly not worth $1000, I decided against getting anything done. If I did decide to have the car fixed in order to pass inspection, there is NO WAY I would have let them do it. There was no communication prior to me getting to the center. The guy at the register was ready to charge me for something that hadn't even been done yet. I have been to several other car centers within Charlottesville, and I have NEVER had an experience like this. I tried going to several other places before coming here, but they weren't taking any more cars for state inspections. Now it's clear why there was no line here. DON'T EVER BRING YOUR CAR HERE.

Abby Thompson

Roadside flat and they came within 5 minutes. Took me to the shop, quickly got the problem taken care of and had me back on the road in about a half hour total! Service was great and a wonderful team of professionals. Highly recommended! Thanks University Tire and Auto, you saved my day!

Amanda Bachman

Rebecca Draughon

Wonderful experience! I had been having problems with the headlight on my car. They were able to work me in and had me out the door in less time than they originally thought. Fixed the issues! Friendly staff and comfortable waiting area. Will definitely be back!

Jeremy Taylor

Honest and reliable

R.L.

Came for car inspection, and although the car failed the employees were very helpful in explaining why it failed and suggested what parts were necessary to being the vehicle back to standards.

D Majumdar

Outstanding folks. They fixed my car minutes before closing when I blew a tire out during a storm tonight.

Brittany Baker

Went in for a state inspection, and was in and out in less than 30 minutes. Very quick! I made an appointment online and was contacted almost immediately to schedule it. You can’t make appointments after 4 (but I believe this is a state law). The appointment process was quick and easy, and the person emailing with me was very professional, and the staff were all very nice as well.

Tobey Bouch

I have been a faithful customer of University tire for years now...most recently Brandon helped me get new tires on the truck of a friend whose husband is deployed and found herself with dry-rotted and leaking tires. Brandon not only gave me the best price in town, he was able to install them on a moment's notice while I waited. These guys have always been my go-to and I would recommend them highly.

Malissa Anderson

Brandy is a wonderful person

Julie Styles

The people are nice and overall the service is amazing always recommended! Glad we chose to give this tire center a chance.

Howard Akers

Decent place to go for tires, but I wouldn't get anything else done there. Tried to get a simple repair done and they told me the part would take about a week. Showed up a little after a week later and they told me that they couldn't check on the status of the part and I would have to come in again the next week. Came in the next week and they told me they couldn't do the repair after waiting around for them to call for a half an hour or so. Seems like they could have just told me that in the first place instead of jerking me around for a couple weeks.

Prashant Goswami

Terrible customer service, its like they were doing me a favor by fixing my car. Don't know if all other locations are the same but I would avoid this one.

I've been going to University Tire at Seminole for a decade now, across two vehicles (my previous one being an old clunker that may or may not have been annoying to service), and my overall experience has been great. I've had everything done from oil changes, state inspections, new tires, brakes, exhaust work, tune-ups, fuel system, you name it. I've only ever had one problem with them - the most recent visit, two weeks ago, resulted in an issue with my front wheels. I explained the situation to their Director of Operations via email and they fixed the problem free of charge, and quickly at that. I was initially upset, and actually hesitant, about having to take my car back for a new issue that occurred on their watch but they took care of me, without fuss, and set my mind at ease. Would it have been better to have everything go perfectly the first time? Of course, but I get that sometimes stuff happens. I'm just glad they made it right. Also, they have free shuttle service which has been incredibly convenient for me.

Antiga Maaiam

Today was my first time at the university tire and auto, everyone there are so friendly and professional! June, the company car driver was very nice, came picked me up right away when I needed to go get my car while I was on my lunch from work. I came for an inspection and oil changes, I’m definitely coming back to university tire and auto, thank you!

Sam W

Had my car towed here at night due to a blown tire. I received a call in the first hour of service the next day that the tire had been replaced and everything was good to go. Excellent service, fantastic staff.

Grubb Tree

Vary helpful and quality fast work! Highly recommend using their services!!

Jo Harris

I get all my work done at the Seminole location, highly recommend.

Chris Tate

They know what they're going. I just dont agree with the price they charge. Example they charge about 90 for a front end alignment an say " your not going to find any ware else cheaper" That was bs i knew of 2 off the top of my head. lol an the mark up on parts is over 30 percent thats a bit much. if you have a choice go someware else if not hope you wallet is full.

Phil Selmer

I brought it in to get some tires mounted, balanced, and installed. Dropped it off around 11 and picked it up around 3. They didn't try to sell me any additional services or parts (which is fantastic!). However, I drove off to pick my boys up from school and started noticing a thumping sound that increased with wheel speed. I know I have a worn out component on that wheel, and I figured it had finally broken (parts already in the mail). Anyway, had to get my boys on time, so I went the rest of the way home with the thumping turning more into a clunking the farther I drove. When I got home, one of the wheel bolts fell out as I turned into my driveway. I immediately checked the other bolts one that wheel and they were all loose except that one must have fallen out along the way. I made it home with 3 instead of 5. Moving on, I called in to notify them and they were very apologetic and said they would have a new one for me to pick up tonight. In my mind, a mistake was made, but the company made it right, so all is good.

Sandra Fuentes

Under no circumstance will I ever bring my vehicle back to this place. Their work is awful and their customer service is terrible. I brought in my Honda Civic to get my brakes replaced and to also get a new timing belt and water pump. The repairs totaled $812. Several months later, I took my car to the dealer to get my oil changed. I was in shock when the mechanic told me that my engine was leaking oil and that whoever replaced my timing belt did NOT do the work. I went back to University Tire & Auto to discuss the repairs that had been done on my car. I spoke to several employees and each one of them spoke to me in a rude and condescending manner. They told me that they were not responsible and that the oil leak was caused because the seal was old and needed to be replaced. They then told me that they could fix the problem for another $500. I have since taken my vehicle to different mechanics and all have confirmed that whoever did the timing belt replacement did not do the work and that the seal should have been replaced when the repair was being done. I have also spoken to other people who have also had work done at University Tire and they have similar horror stories. Bottom line: Do not give this place your business. You will be spending more money to fix the damage that they will cause to your vehicle.

Quite simply, these people are only interested in how much money they can steal from you. They are the epitome of what you should avoid when you need to get your car fixed. Do not trust them; that's how they run most of their scams, by assuming that you will give them the benefit of the doubt. I was warned about them before I came in by reading a few of the reviews on here, and they were spot on. They're just awful, shifty people who reek of duplicity and deceit. And also, when they give the generated response of "Call this number and ask for Adam" Adam is always either "not available" or the phone just doesn't get picked up. Don't be fooled by their attempts to reconcile, they are only interested in saving face insofar as it allows them to continue to cheat people out of their money.

Jessi Davis

We have been taking our cars to University Tire Seminole for years for oil changes and any needed work. Bill always gets us in quickly and keeps us updated through the whole process. The mechanics are great about explaining what work needs to be done and why .

Stephanie Coleman

Don’t waste your money ! Called to get an estimate on having an alternator replaced and towing to the shop . Was quoted $450 for the alternator replacement and $50 for towing . I know that’s steep , but I’ve used them for years. I told to person I spoke to on the phone that the alternator that was in my car was under warranty. I asked him what do I do in that case , his response was “you can just take it with you”. So I get my car towed there to have them replace the alternator. They call and say they can’t get to my car could they do it on Saturday. That was fine with me , I also asked them to check how much it would be to replace the valve cover gasket . When I go pick my car up I tell the guy behind the counter that I’m supposed to take my alternator with me . He goes and gets the manager , the manger tells me it’s an $80 core charge . I see on the invoice what they paid, and how much I was being charged ,I was livid . I also saw on the paper where the technician had written other things that needed to be done to my car. No one spoke to me about those things , or told me how much it was to replace the gasket. I left and came back on Monday to talk to the manager . After explaining to him what happened, he agreed to let me take the alternator if I came back with the core charge an IOU was made at the shop . The core charge is the same price I paid for the bad alternator! I’m losing more money than I’m getting back . Even without the core charge back they still made money on the part , I understand it’s a business but geeze ! I have to wait for a check to come from Advance to give them their money , I don’t feel I should have to pay the core when I wasn’t told initially that there would be a charge.

Stella Gibson

Brent the owner was awesome. I have been paying high dollar for tires my whole life. They are the best aroun. I was in and out in 30 minutes. I'll never go anyplace else again. Top notch.

Chip Harrison

I had an urgent issue with my car just before a business trip. The team at University Tire immediately worked me in, fixed the tire issue and a subsequent issue that they didn’t charge me for. They were extremely helpful, professional and kind. Good customer service is hard to find, particularly in the automotive repair industry, but the team at University Tire were great. Thank you!

Shelly James

Far better than the stealerships! They are personable, know what they are talking about and actually CARE!

monte hersh

I had brought a tire to be repaired, it had a slow leak I left it and went the next day to pick it up they replaced a leaking valve core. Put it on our 5th wheel next day it lost. 50 lbs of air brought it back and this time the tire valve was replaced. They profusely apologized and now everything is ok. By the way they did not charge me either time. We'll done thank you.

Gave me a good deal on 4 tires.

I went to get a flat fixed. I waited an hour and half for them to tell me that it was supposedly too close to the sidewall and tried to sell me a new tire. I took the tire to Finleys and they are fixing it now. They're much friendlier at Finleys too.

Hattie B Wise

Friends at work have gone to get new tires here and were happy with the price and the service they received. So I went to this location because it was convenient. I had to wait a little to get the job done, but I expected that. This was a good transaction, I felt that I received good service in a nice place that knew what they were doing. I felt good about this business and think I will recommend it to others.

Nina Reauveau

I bought 4 new tires and they put my spare in the back of my jeep... not on the spare tire frame (on back of hatch door) as any one would assume and expect... and, when questioned they said they didn't have the tools... well, that was a red flag!!! Now, I have a spare tire in my back seat, I'm a senior citizen and I'm quite pissed. A tire is dirty and heavy and I really don't have the tools or strength. Never have I encountered such a lack of service...

Steven Steppe

Wife needed a tire so we went to the closes shop. Bad decision, one tire we was told we was buying wasn't what was put on car. Then to top it off we wait several hours to get no call so we called and was told it was ready. Pull in parking lot car still on flat. Very disappointing, wont be coming back here no matter what!

Mark Otte

I had my car in for an oil change and tire rotation using a coupon I had received in the mail. I had a wait, as you might expect for service. However, they did everything they said they would do and I felt I received good service and a very good value. If you are looking for a place that would do good work at a good price, this would be one to consider. They have a number of locations so I cannot comment on the other locations, only the one where I actually was a patron.
