So, my wife's SUV was under a factory recall for an airbag sensor reset, and had to be taken to the dealer. She takes it up there and 3 1/2 hours later she's told the sensor can't be reset because THAT sensor is actually tied to the driver's seat sensor, and that's not covered under the recall. The head of the Service Dept. says it's going to be $1200 to fix it and does the "I'm so appalled that Corporate would charge this much $$$, but I'll see what I can do for you" act, and told her he would call her in a few days to have her bring the SUV back. Well, that call STILL hasn't come, BTW, but we took it up to University Tire & Auto of Ruckersville (where we always take our car vehicles) and had them reset the airbag sensor, where it seems the dealer had NOT EVEN ATTEMPTED to reset it at all! Plus, it seems it wasn't tied to the driver's seat, as the dealer's service department claimed! I can only conclude it was a way to get $$$ from a no-no still recall! While we had the SUV there Ken and Todd replaced the entire cooling fan assembly and put an end to the loudest noises we have been enduring for the past year when turning the AC on and off! Once again University Tire & Auto of Ruckersville delivered excellence! Thank you all and a very special thank you to Todd and Ken!

Traveling through town from Ohio and our check engine light came on today. We stopped and asked for assistance. He was busy, but said he would make the time to run his computer to see what codes were running. It ended up being a sensor that we can set up an appointment for when we have a bit more time. He cleared to code. Verified that no other codes came up and sent us on our way. No charge. My daughter, who lives nearby says it is the best place to go and I believe her. He has a strong sense of customer support, which I appreciated. I would stop here again.

I had the crew working on 12/14/18 help me with a set of new BFG K02 AT tires for my 1993 wrangler. They were friendly, patient and took me through the available options and were even able to price match a little to meet a competitors rebate. They were a little busy but still only took an hour once a bay opened up. All around as good of a tire buying experience as I could have hoped for!

I've noticed that this location stays pretty busy, so I usually try to drop my vehicle off instead of wait for it if I can. If I don't have another ride, I take advantage of the free WiFi in the waiting area. I definitely recommend them.

Unless I showed up or called, there was major lack of communication with these guys. I was given excuse after excuse about the vehicle not being ready, the funny thing is that the excuses were the same ones used with friends that I had recommended them to. Finally got the vehicle back after 10 days, after 2 days the issues showed up again. Took it back to them and they told me it would be at least 48 hours before they could get to it, really!

It's a good place with honest people, but as a business seems to have some sketchy policies. I wouldn't get an inspection here, as there seems to be incentive for them to find something wrong with your vehicle. If you're somewhat mechanically inclined, no big deal. Also, whether or not their inspector is working the day you drive in is hit or miss.

Todd and the rest of the shop were complete lifesafers!! I busted my tire late on the side of the highway and they were there in minutes to put on the spare, free of charge! They then got me setup with a replacement within minutes for a great deal! The entire staff was extremely kind and helpful - can't recommend this place enough!

I should have listened to the other reviews and avoided this place! DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE! Dont make the same mistake I did! I brought my vehicle in for new rear brakes. At first they told me my caliper needed replacing, then came back out and said no, it doesnt need to be replaced. I told them I had a long trip coming and they said shouldnt have any problems your good for some time. I didnt know what to believe and was confused but I trusted them to make the right call. MY MISTAKE! Less than 3 months later my rear brakes went bad and the new place I took them to be fixed told me the previous work done on the rear brakes was the cause of the problem. So I am out even more money because of University Tire and Auto Centers - Ruckersvilles incompetence! I called the manger and when someone finally got back to me, took over a week, they said they couldnt do anything for me. The manager said his workers told him they told me I needed a new caliper. That is such bs but it was my fault for not recording the exchange so I would have proof. They offered me no help and no compensation for the faulty brake work they did. DONT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I did! Avoid this place, you will be better off!!

Took my car for alignment. Asked them to check the vehicle for anything that needed to be replace or fixed. They charge for the alignment, in less than a year took my car for state inspection, had steering boots broken, tie rods where never touched( how you align the vehicle without touching the tie rods?). Worst experience ever. If you want to give money away definitely the place to take your car.

I appreciate honesty I received from Todd when I brought my vehicle in with concerns about the brakes. After assessing the vehicle, he assured me that no work was needed at this time. I imagine others could have sold me the whole brake package anyway, but honesty goes a long way to gain my trust and business. I went to this place because I had a terrible experience at University Tire in Charlottesville (Main Street location). I got the car inspected in the Main street location and for re-inspection I wanted to avoid going back there so I went to Ruckersville because I'd heard the old manager from the Main Street branch, Brian, was now in Ruckersville. He was very apologetic about my experience in the Main Street store, and he remembered my vehicle and sister perfectly from when she used to bring the Jeep in years ago. He was super nice and helpful!!

Went here on a few different occasions to get prices on tires for a few different vehicles. Stood in line for 15 min one day and had enough and left. 2nd trip back took 10 min to get a quote once I got him to look it up. I wanted 1 size larger tire than what came on it and he said he wouldnt work but as I told him that's what is on the truck now and it works just fine. His reply was to go where I had them installed and have them do it, so I did.

I rarely write negative reviews online, but the experience I just had here is troubling and deeply disappointing as I have done business with them two times before. My conscience compels me to share this experience with others. I went because I heard a noise from my tire. A very polite young man took my car for a drive. He suspected that the tires needed balancing. After a one and half hour wait, another gentlemen came out and informed me that the four engine mounts were not functioning and needed to be replaced. Fair enough, the car has been vibrating and shaking. He estimated the cost of replacement plus an alignment at over $1,100. I was gobsmacked and close to tears. I asked him if it was dangerous to continue driving. He told me "To be honest, yes." I told him that "I would have to die as I don't have $1,000." He said "Don't say that." I said "Well, I will get a ride and be carless." He literally walked away without another word. Thanks to my mom who told me never to go without it, I have AAA. A tow truck came and picked up my vehicle and me. The tow truck driver asked me what was wrong with my car. When I told him and explained the price, he was appalled. He whipped out his phone and showed me where I could purchase ALL FOUR mounts for $71!!! They were going to charge me $200 EACH plus labor. This goes beyond a simple mark up. This is a deliberate attempt to heartlessly rip someone off. I implore you, do not go to this place! This is textbook lack of trustworthiness and honor. It grieves me that some people have already lost their heard earned money getting service done here, including me!

Went for an oil change, rear taillight bulb, and 1 back tire. They told us we needed 4 tires that weren't needed. Told us they replaced the rear taillight bulb, which was not done, and our son just called and said they didn't replace the oil cap and the car "smells funny". Drained oil and never replaced it. This is the second time we've had issues. The first time we thought was a fluke. If you're into throwing money into work that you don't need or isn't done, this is the place for you!

Amazing Service! My girlfriend and I were staying in Shenandoah, and on our last day we caught a flat right as we were about to catch the sunrise at Bearfence Trail (a must see). It’s a Saturday, and apparently in Virginia not a lot of places are open for business on Saturdays. This one happened to be located about 45 minutes from Big Meadows camping in Ruckersville. We walked in, we’re greeted immediately by a friendly guy named Todd, he got us in right away and were back on the road in 2 hours while we ate breakfast down the street. We’re from New Jersey and having this happen to us in the middle of our vacation road trip would’ve proven disastrous but they definitely came through, with friendly, great service. Our new tire feels great, thanks Todd and the team at University Tire and Auto!

Went in to have my emergency brake adjusted 2 weeks ago, that's all. Told me I need all sorts of fluids and filters replaced. Not a big deal, needs to be done periodically. The car has been sluggish since then and since I didn't have time to take it in again. All of a sudden I heard the brakes scraping. Took it somewhere else, over a thousand to replace 2 calibers, 2 rotors, pads and have the EMERGENCY BRAKE adjusted. Don't go there.

It took three hours to mount 2 tires and when I got it back they scachted my 17in diamo rims all to crap and I talked to manger and he tried telling me they couldn't have done it but there the only ones who touched the rims since I had the car. Dropped my car off at 8:15am for an inspection and what I thought would be front and rear brakes and rotars. Got a call a couple hours later, I only needed front and the parts were in stock for a 2011 BMW. Had my car wrapped up quickly and efficiently. Only spoke with Cody, and he was polite and very welcoming into the shop. No issues and great service all around. I will be back.

I made an appointment one week in advance to buy tires and get my alignment sorted. I showed up the morning of my appointment on time to purchase my $900 worth of tires and was told they had a lot of walk-ins that morning- my appointment was set for 8 AM and they open at 7 AM. Despite having an appointment, and asking when they could get to my car- I waited for well over an hour for them to even go near my car to move it to a mechanic bay. I asked about the delay once, and told them that due to the long delay I was going to have to reschedule a long distance drive that was planned that morning and I was told they’d get to me “just a minute”. If you value your customers, who are paying you good money, I would suggest this business figure out a way to honor their appointments and not keep people waiting who were not walk in appointments. My husband loved this place. I don’t like it, and we’ll be taking our cars elsewhere for tire service. We can’t support a local business that doesn’t value their customers time.

University tire is the absolute worst service center around.If you go there walk in backwards with your a$@ in the air because you are literally going to get the shaft.I took my car there for alignment, they came back to me and said they couldn't align it due to rust.So I said what's the problem. They told me all the tie rods and upper control arms and away bars were rusted and that it needed a front end rebuild. They quoted me 3200.I said take it down and I will check for myself. So I took it to my friends house and put it on the lift and proceeded to check for myself.Well needless to say what they called rust was mud not rust.So the next day I took it and power washed it and went to kelp cam auto center on route 33 and 45 minutes later it was perfectly aligned.DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY THEY ARE CROOKS!

University tire is the absolute worst place to go! The people there are incompetent and ruined my boyfriends car. He took it there for an oil change and they were supposed to top off all of his fluids. Less than 3000 miles later his car starts making a noise and then cuts off. After checking underneath the hood we discovered that they had put in the wrong coolant and the radiator was full of a muddy color sludge. We used water to try to flush the radiator and make it home. Next day my boyfriend takes it back to university tire to show them the problem and get them to flush the radiator and fix it. The guy at the counter told him they couldn’t do it that day and to bring it back the next day. My boyfriend got two miles down the road and the car completely broke down. The manager came out and after my boyfriend told him we had been adding water to get it back to the shop, the manager decided to add more coolant that specifically says “do not mix with water” to his radiator. They towed it back to the shop and then called and said that the car had a blown head gasket and the engine would need to be replaced. We went back up there that evening to speak to someone about them fixing the issue they had caused and the manager said he didn’t deny that someone messed up but refused to fix the now bigger issue they had caused. The manager was completely unprofessional and has no business being apart of the company. After arguing back and forth he finally gave us the general managers number to escalate the situation and he has yet to respond to the voicemail and it’s now been almost a week. So now because of their negligence my boyfriend is without a car and is looking at a $5000 repair for the car. We are filing a civil lawsuit against the company and have already filed a complaint with the Better Business bureau where several complaints have been made for similar issues. Whatever you do, do not take your car here!!

Each of my 3 visits have been a disaster. Tire pressure not checked. Failure to include 5th tire rotation when asked to. Broke off a lug nut and over tightened all remaining lug nuts which had to be broken off to remove rim afterwards. I advised them the lug nut and stud were fine when I dropped off the car and they should fix it. They smiled and no way. Go to Sam's club instead. Part 2: Adam at University Tire made this right at once. I will go back but I will check the work closely. Thanks Adam.

Went in for an inspection and told them if the wipers need replaced just do it. I go to pick it up and on the bill where wipers, inspection fee, and a charge for an oil change. I told them I still had 4,000 miles till I needed one. They replaced my Mobil 1 full syn with a blend and my K@N 15,000 mile filter with the shop basic. I told them I was not happy and they took it off and said well you got an oil change like they did me a favor. The clerk did not even apologize. A coworker had a similar experience with them adding extra’s. I would not trust them.

I called yesterday about a state Inspection and was told to come in this morning at 7. , I was early, when they opened I was told that there were 6 ahead of me. It would be a couple of hours before they could get to me! So they lied yesterday when they said they could take me in first thing if I got there at 7!

I have mixed feelings about UVA tire and auto center. I took my vehicle to them to get new tires and an A/C recharge and evacuation. They had the best tire price and they were about the same on the A/C price. I'm very satisfied with the tires and their mounting thereof. With the A/C however, the had noted a leak in the metal tubing that carries the freon to the condenser. So being that I needed A/C we went through with them replacing the part. Well, long story short the part was replaced, worked fine for 1 day, then my A/C was back hot. Took it back to them and they said that there was a leak in the condenser. I was told they could not have found that until they had replaced the previous part since the dye could not have been carried to the condenser. I was very concerned that I was being coned and took my vehicle to a friend who owns his own repair company in Orange, VA and was told that their diagnoses was accurate and they were right about the dye issue. Being that again UVA tire and auto had the best price for the repair on the new condenser, I had let them know 4 days in advance to order the part and that I would be by that following Saturday to get the part replaced. I showed up Saturday to have no part on site, was told that it was on back order and that they would need to order it from another supplier, and that I would have to come back on Monday. Thankfully Monday they had the part and my vehicle is now working as it should be. When I spoke with the manager regarding the issues with me having to wait on the part when I had given them ample notice to order it and I was not contacted regarding the issues he gave a generous deduction on my bill. This issue is the only reason that I gave 4 stars. I think that they had great customer service and Cody was very helpful in my store experience. Despite having some issues I'm satisfied with my experience with them.

Please avoid this place at all cost. They mounted our tire and broke the valve stem. But if it hadn't of been what happened to the couple in front of me I would have taken my vehicle back for them to fix it. The couple in front of me was having them relace a sensor and the mechanics at university tire cross threaded it so the manifold had to be replaced. I guess they didn't understand that they shouldn't have paid for university tires mistake. Luckily they were nice enough to put them on a payment plan for the 1200 dollars they charged.

Some of the techs are awesome and very knowledgeable and some just don't need to be there! I got ripped off paid for a service I didn't even get or needed. Told them it was my alternator that needed replacement and they still charged me for the battery test even though I was working there at the time and was back in shop when they were working on my car! I brought in all my parts still paid over 500 so you be the judge.

I'm a young single mother so when my check engine light came on , I got real nervous. I got it to the closest shop which was this one. When it was finally my turn in line in the office something unexpected happened. In the middle of my explanation the man who worked there he cut me off by just walking around me and started helping the White woman behind me and ignored me until I left in tears. It's really hard to experience racism in 2018 but this is the world we live in now. So if you go to this shop make sure your white. I'm sure they will help you right away and give you a good price!

We just moved into the area and we are looking for dependable auto shop - this isn't it. Went for an inspection and was told they wanted to charge me $80 to clean my left headlamp and $165 to replace my right headlamp and I went online and bought two new headlamps for $73. Needless to say, I failed the inspection because I told them what I thought of their prices. Now I noticed my oil is leaking! (I also had an oil change) Save your money and find someplace else. Update! It's leaking in three different spots and the car has always been dry brought it back to the shop last night, the day of, and was told there were other things leaking but nothing was ever leaking before until yesterday. Makes me wonder.

Was told I needed a flex pipe and Inner tie rod before car would pass safety inspection. I requested an oil change and wheel alignment as well. I made an appointment and dropped off vehicle at 07:30, at 3:00 I dropped by to check status. Tyler said he was able to save me $200.00 on the muffler work and that car would be ready in a couple of hours. At 3:45 Cody called to ask if they could keep the car overnight, I asked what the problem was? Cody stated everything was done but the safety Inspection, said 2 of the 3 state inspectors called off sick. I said I'd pick up the car and bring it back later for the inspection. When I arrived the car had not had an oil change nor wheel alignment, I was told I needed a new muffler and that the car failed the safety inspection. I asked to pay for services performed, Cody tried to charge for the oil change, wheel alignment, for an outer tie rod and 2 hours labor in addition to the actual work performed. I had to wait 1 1/2 hours to get a rejection sticker put on the car. While waiting my daughter in-law said to me "something sounds fishy", at that point Tyler (who overheard her) started screaming at my daughter in-law that she needed to be understanding because two guys called off sick. He ended up saying "we don't need your business". Tyler did not understand that the under estimate of the extent of exhaust work needed, overcharging for work not performed and miscommunication of the vehicles statue had nothing to do with the guys out sick. We took the car to J&P automotive and repairs where made at half the estimate University Tire have given me, additionally they needed to repair pin holes in flex pipe welds done by University Tire. I will not be bring any of my Vehicles back in the future. This place has went down hill. Been bring my vehicles to University Tire since 2009.
