This is why I take all of my vehicles to Progressive on Doc Stone road in Stafford. I had my daughter's F-150 in for inspections and brake work and while moving the vehicle it had a minor fender bender with another car. Billy contacted me immediately with a picture of the damage. I told him not to worry we could work it out the next morning when I picked up the car. Next morning he gave me the insurance contact info and they contacted me the next day. This was all over a scratch so small I would never have noticed it if he hadn't told me where it was. This is very typical of the honesty and commitment to customer service that you receive here. They have had my complete trust since the very first repair on my 2007 Mini Cooper when he could have charged $500 or more for replacing a sensor. They simply cleaned it, rechecked it on the computer, charged me $124 and it ran fine. I have had thousands of dollars in repairs done here and have never questioned whether or not they were necessary because when a repair isn't necessary he will tell you. Billy told me on my first visit that he only recommends what is necessary for the safe efficient operation of the vehicle. I don't kind having to make an appointment because that assures that my work will be done on schedule and they usually finish ahead of time. A trustworthy automotive repair shop is a rare treasure and I can't recommend them highly enough.

This is the only company that has ever worked on my 2005 Volkswagen Beetle. The previous owners on the Volkswagen never took it anywhere else. So when I brought the Volkswagen I thought I would give Progressive a try. Great decision on my part. This was the fourth time I had taken my car to Progressive and the first time for anything other than routine maintenance. The back window regulator had gone bad and Billy fully explained what was wrong and the options to fix the window correctly. They fixed my problem with a new regulator and in a timely manner, all the while keeping my car clear. Can't even tell the mechanics were even in the back seat. First class business from beginning to end.

I have just met one of the most honest, professional auto repair companies ever. It was one of those situations where I was stuck and on a tight schedule and could have easily been taken advantage of and never known it, but they had me on my way for the minimum labor charge. I know I don't have a lot of friends in this area but if you ever break down in Stafford, Va, go to Progressive Automotive & Tire and you will be well cared for.

This place charged me $190 for diagnostic on my 4Runner. Sheehy Toyota charged me $145 for the same diagnostics. Then when I asked Progressive for an estimate to replace the EGR valve which was diagnosed as needing repair, they refused to provide an estimate because it had been to another shop for other repairs.

Finding a trusted auto repair shop was one of the great blessings of our first year after moving to this area in 1999 from Okinawa and then retiring from the Marine Corps. From the very first, Billy and the Progressive Team became true Partners in my goal of keeping all our cars in top notch shape for as long as possible. They proved over and over throughout two decades that they would only do what my cars truly needed or what I specifically requested. Sometimes cars were returned without doing expensive repairs, despite my concerns over a noise or vibration, if it wasn’t required - “just cleaned up your brake pads” and they’d send me on my way with a warm smile, but more importantly with total confidence that I was in trusted hands. When I would take my cars in for recalls to local dealers, who would then tell me that all kinds of other maintenance was way passed due or had to be done immediately, Billy would set me straight and, when any of those things actually needed to be done, he planned it out with me, so I could budget for it and the work always cost less than two-thirds of what the dealer was going to charge me! Work has always been top quality and customer service folks friendly, courteous and personal. My entire family's three generations have all our vehicles serviced @Progressive and I refer everyone I know who is searching for an ethical, trustworthy, dependable car care location. Search no more!

I have dealt with dishonest auto repair shops before, so I’m on guard for these kinds of people. I’m from out of town moving in from Oklahoma. Safety & emissions tests are required here (not in Okla.), so I know no one. Progressive on Warrenton Road seemed like a good as any. Nice appearance and all. Went in for the inspections. Emissions failed—Approximately $1500 estimate. I was skeptical. I shopped around & found a shop several miles away with really good reviews. DEL’S Automotive. Family owned since 1969. This is not an ad for Del’s; they have all the business they need. (Just a feeling.) Del’s ran safety and emissions tests on both of our Oklahoma cars and found them to be in compliance. I am very skeptical of the test Progressive ran especially since I had no code showing the car to need an engine repair. Thanks. This is a reply to the response of the owner of Progressive Auto Shop who refuted my negative review. Sir, I don’t know who you are — — the man I dealt with in the estimated cost to bring my car up to state requirements was a tall middle aged man. Whoever wrote this response either doesn’t know what went on with the estimate of my car or is being deceptive. V in his response. This shop tested my automobile and found at least three things that needed attention. The major thing we were told the car needed was a new catalytic converter on the left rear. Another major fault was a leak in the manifold. How did the shop determine we needed a new converter without testing for it? In your response you never mentioned this. Also recommended was changing out a CV joint boot. The second shop recommended none of these repairs. Again, the car displayed no code for a faulty catalytic converter. THIS REVIEW IS IN REFERENCE TO: The Progessive Auto Shop on 11 Commerce Parkway off of Warrenton Rd. The last paragraph is a response to the owner which is shown below. The owner suggested I see the State Police to see if his shop made a mistake in their inspections. Since I’m retired and have plenty of time, I plan to do this. I want to know when my car is in disrepair.

As a woman, he will treat me the same as anyone else, convey information clearly on the phone, help me figure out what tires I have so he can order the right thing for my vehicle, is very easy to deal with. Once he told us honestly that the dealer would be a better fit for the repair! And that is why we go back year in and year out regardless of what vehicle we are driving, because he they are honest and will do the right thing, respectfully.

We take all three of our cars into Progressive for most of our service requirements. They're friendly, accommodating and always fair. Just one example: We recently took our Hyundai in because our tire pressure light came on and in the process of trying to fill it ourselves, ended up making one of the tires even flatter. They could have charged us and told us it was a leak, stem, etc. Instead, after taking time to make sure no problems and properly inflating all tires, they explained it was probably gas station pump & gave us no charge. We really like these guys!

Progressive Automotive is awesome! They figured out what was wrong -air compressor. They started to fix it but stopped when I found a place that would honor my warranty since I had just replaced it last year. They put my car back together told me to go straight to the other store that would fix it for free. I expected to be charged for a diagnostic and some labor since they had taken it apart and then back together Instead he gave me back my 20%off coupon and said he had a better coupon for no charge! If anyone needs any car work go there! And ladies the waiting area has a good selection of magazines that aren't all about cars. It's clean and comfortable (even the bathroom is clean!)

Have taken both my vehicles there for many years. Regardless of regularly scheduled maintainance or "pop-up" problems, it is always easy to get an appointment. Results are timely and professional. Even the major problems on a 10-year old van do not cost an arm or a leg. The staff is always friendly and helpful and they do not "find any existing" problems that will run the tab up. Even when a major item is found, I always get a call first before any work is performed. I trust them, they do quality work, and more importantly, my wife feels comfortable and safe after any work has been done there. I would and have recommended Progressive Auto to anyone that asks where they can get good work done at a quality facility. Keep up the good work.

To start off the customer service was amazing. The location is convenient and their building feels very comfortable. If I could, I'd give 10 stars! Have been bringing our cars here for 3-4 years. Wish we would have found them earlier. First time, brought our car in after having it checked 3-4 different times for the same problem. Bill knew what it was just after describing the problem. Fixed quickly at no charge until we were sure that the fix stuck. Never have felt overcharged for any service. Thorough work w/o extra labor charge. Bill explains everything well and makes you feel that you are their only customer. Comfortable waiting room. May need an appointment on most things because of their great personal service.

I called to make an appointment for a Saturday which they are not open how is a car place not open on the weekends? But apparently I was taking to long choosing a different day the person who answered the phone told me to think about it and call back. Wow. If you are unable to speak to a person put them on hold. Or don’t answer. To answer the phone means you are available for the call. I felt this was rude and bad customer service.
