I have been meaning to write this review for a while, but I am happy beyond words with the service I received at this Midas. I have brought my car there for tires and a new muffler, and both times Susan at the front desk has been amazing with getting everything my car needs and at a great price. I used to go to a location that was closer to my house, but the extra few minutes it takes to drive to Midas is well worth it. I really love that they take a look all over my car for any other issues or to give me a heads up of parts that may need repair in the near future. Overall, very pleased with everyone at Midas. They are truly wonderful!!

Kyle DeMar and his team were so friendly and fast! The facility is nice, with plenty of things to entertain you while you wait for your service. My oil change was inexpensive, and they didn't try to push with any unnecessary services!

They are super helpful here. I used to drive a Saturn and when it broke down they managed to find the parts and fix the car in a reasonable amount of time. They also have a shuttle service so they can drive you home after you drop off your car.

Have gone here a couple times. On the most recent trip to get my oil changed, they initially charged me for more oil than the engine will take and let me walk out the door. Luckily I know enough about my vehicle that I saw this and came back in for a explanation. They said they had made a mistake and refunded me. They also refused to top off my coolant (a advertised part of the oil change) saying that it had enough (it was below the minimum line with the engine both cool and hot). At best they have bad attention to detail and at worst they are habitually ripping off unknowing customers. Buyers beware.

Midas South Burlington just scared my 21-year-old college student into a $1227.35 muffler repair. She didn’t know better and authorized the work. When I called Midas to say I planned to have the work done elsewhere waaaaay cheaper ... too bad, it’s all done. Learn from our $1200 mistake: never go to Midas for anything ever!! They prey on unsuspecting customers.

For a commercial auto shop they aren't so bad. They are very friendly and relatively hones and if they mess up somehow they will make it right. But they often try and scare you into paying for more work that could be done but isn't always necessary. Somehow something extra ALWAYS has to be done to my car when I bring it to Midas. I'd suggest getting a second opinion before having any work done that you didn't originally plan on.

I've always had a great experience with Midas in South Burlington. I've been taking my car there for a year and a half now and I feel I can really trust theme, they are always thorough and at a fair price. Kyle has always been a great help and the gentlemen in the garage have always treated me really well. They talk to me like anew equal and explain details of my car'so condition in a professional manner, never treating me less because I'm a woman. Also, they have a comfortable waiting area with complimentary coffee, guest WiFi, lots of magazines, TV, and a clean bathroom. Thanks Midas and all the hard working people who make it happen!

I went to Midas, South Burlington, VT to get my winter tires mounted on my Range Rover Sport. Had 25000 miles on my all season tires. I ordered them from tire rack and Midas was the recommended installer. They damaged my all season tires. One of the tires sidewall was slit open during the switch. They told me that they were going to order a tire with the same tread and can store all the other tires for me. I got an appointment few days ago to get the all season tires mounted. They confirmed that the tire they ordered is available. I waited almost an hour in the store before they told me that the tire is not in a good shape and will order another one. Left the place extremely disappointed. So finally last week Friday I got the tires mounted. Five days later one of the tires blew out on my driveway. I was not driving and there was no sign of any low pressure. This happened all of a sudden. To my surprise there is a slit on the sidewall on this tire as well. So I went back to Midas and they told me it's not their responsibility to take care of this. I am very sure it's their mistake. This might have happened when they initially damaged one of my all season tire . They don't want to take any responsibility and all the manger offered me was ordering another tire with the same tread. I have to pay for it! Honestly, if tire rack didn't mention this place as their recommended installer I wouldn't have gone there. I am a physician and they were not at all responsible or understanding to all the inconvenience and damage they caused. Had to take days off from work just to take care of all the mess they did. In a way I was lucky that the blow out happened on the driveway and not the interstate. So finally, they ordered a tire with same tread which I paid for. Its a previously punctured tire which was patched. Had 4 excellent all season range rover installed tires before I went to Midas and now I have two patched tires. Its all because of their excellent work.

Had to get an alignment done on my truck. Set my appointment for 10am. The staff was friendly, and they got my truck in right away. I asked how long it would take, not to be rude but wanted to get a haircut in between time. They said an hour. 11am I return with a fresh haircut and my truck was rolling right out of the shop. That was fast and precisely on time. I was in and out in under an hour and the staff was great. Go here for service!

Discourteous staff will try to sell you more than you need to make an extra buck, be careful here. Look at the other reviews talking about 'finding other problems' and 'extra work'. DO NOT take a car to be inspected here, it will not pass until you shell out more than you need to; support your local businesses instead, they're much more friendly and honest.

I have been going to this Midas for oil changes and other routine maintenance matters for about 3 years. The staff are always extremely polite and take the time to explain any work they feel my car needs. They even let me go see my car's condition to help me better understand my car and stay safe. In the three years I've been in the area with my car (during college and now post grad), this has been my go-to garage for peace of mind.

They tried saying I had a power steering leak on my 2011 subaru impreza that has less than 50k miles on it. Said I would need to replace the entire power steering rack to pass inspection this year - a $1200 charge! I brought it to an auto body shop I trust for a second opinion and they were not able to find the leak. BEWARE!

Really impressed with Midas! I ordered tires online and paid to have them delivered to Midas for installation. UPS delivered two tires on-time, and the other two were delayed due to "operating conditions." This was on a Friday, and they got held up at the warehouse/that UPS facility doesn't deliver on Saturdays. With a road trip planned for Sunday, we were a bit stressed. Kyle did a great job calling me to inform me with updates on my car (the first arrival of tires, when my inspection was done). We ended up just buying tires at Midas and returning the tires I got online. The work was done in fewer than two hours (maybe even one?). Thanks again for being accommodating, helping us find a solution, and being so quick with service!

Overall my previous experiences with Midas have been pleasant. In the past they've provided excellent service and straight forward answers when I've brought my vehicle in for maintenance. I recently made an appointment for my vehicles state inspection and decided to drop the vehicle off in the event they could get to it sooner than the scheduled appointment. Unfortunately they couldn't and they said I would be the first vehicle the next morning which I was completely fine with. For my patience I was told I would receive a coupon or some type of courtesy for the wait. I received my vehicle diagnosis all of which came back as expected but I had a license plate light out and was told I would fail inspection unless I had the light fixed. No sweat. I had a new bulb in my center console and had just recently replaced one that had gone out. I understand that " LABOR" costs money but don't tell me that theres a panel that needs to be removed and its a process when I just recently did it myself in mere seconds. $20 dollars to install a bulb that pops out with a flat head is ridiculous. To end it all I didn't receive said coupon and they left my previous states inspection sticker on the windshield and I had to ask them to take it off. Nice follow through Midas Nickel & Dime of South Burlington.

I initially did not post a review because my family has been trying to heal and move on from the horrific ordeal we had with this shop a year ago but this morning I recieved a text from Mark that after the service we recieved, was blatantly disrespectful. This Midas lied to us about work our truck needed when we brought it in for an inspection and headlight cleaning. We had been using this location for both of our vehicles for awhile but this time we were told that we needed about $1600 in brake work. (Rust on rotors and a leak elsewhere) Knowing it had just recieved brakes we took it to two of our trusted mechanics from before we moved over 2 hours away and it was confirmed that not only were the brakes fine and rotors just needed a cleaning (for the rust), they also never even dismantled the rotors to view the brake pads. They had sent photos to the state for our failed inspection of the exterior of the rotors and didn't even thoroughly check the brakes but wanted to sell us all new brakes/rotors/etc and wouldn't pass us without doing so. Not only did they lie to us about needed work but they also never did the headlight cleaning that we PAID for in advance in good faith having trusted them for awhile with our vehicles. They stole that money and then in order to get my husband's truck accurately inspected/fixed, we had to cram this extra drive into our work schedule and life as new parents. My husband was exhausted but still had to get back to Burlington to work and fell asleep at the wheel, totalling our other vehicle. He was seriously injured and could've been killed and all because we were led to believe the truck needed unnecessary brake work & we take brake issues seriously as any vehicle owner should. This company doesn't care about the consequences their greed has on hard working families. My response from this morning's text as well: Hi, Mark. The last time we used your shop, we paid for a headlight cleaning that was never done. Instead of doing the requested and pre-paid for service, your shop screwed around with the brakes on the truck and insisted it needed hundreds of dollars in brake work and refused to pass it on inspection. Upon taking it to TWO OTHER locations knowing it had just recieved new breaks prior it was confirmed they only needed a cleaning and the brakes were in immaculate condition. Because of the lies YOUR mechanics told us we had to cram driving to a trusted mechanic over two hours away in between caring for our one year old daughters and tight work schedule. My husband was so tired after dealing with this and trying to get back in time for work that he fell asleep at the wheel and totalled our other vehicle and was seriously injured and could've been killed. As a result of your business tactics, I almost lost a husband and our children almost lost their father. All because you and your mechanics couldn't be bothered to remove the brake cover to give them a proper cleaning or diagnostic. My father knew the original founder when the first Midas opened in Georgia and he was an honest, compassionate man who I'm sure would be appalled at the kind of service my family received from your location. We have since switched mechanics and will never be working with any Midas location ever again. Thank you so much for the awful memories of almost losing my husband this morning and the overtime he had to work after having just survived that accident to recoup the money we lost by paying you for a simple job you guys couldn't be bothered to do you were so busy trying to milk us of more money. If there's anything you can do for us, it's do your job right for future customers so that you don't put a family in a position that could compromise the well being of a family member. Realize that your selfish actions have far reaching consequences and there was almost a death on your conscience because you wanted to make a buck.

This was the 2nd time I took my car to Midas and I am very pleased!! I was having my winter tires taken off and the price was the lowest I found in Chittenden County ! They were super flexible with the scheduling, the work was done long before they estimated and they even took the time to do a general inspection, found 2 lights out and asked if I wanted those fixed too. Each person I have dealt with was friendly and professional. I tried them because they are next door to my job but I will continue to go there because they are very good.

Visiting from out of town and needed a tire repair. Walked in on a busy Saturday and the guys were very nice and squeezed me right in. They even had to go get the new tires from their warehouse and still finished the job and had us back on the road in under 2 hours. Awesome customer service! I recently moved here and was super stressed about finding a new mechanic. I came here on a recommendation from a friend who had nothing but good things to say and they did not disappoint! First, once they do the diagnostic of you car they send you a text with details of what is all good, what could use some work, and what definitely needs to get done. Pictures are attached of the parts that need to be fixed immediately. Then a mechanic comes out to speak with you and go through that info with you. Kyle was honest, answered all of my questions and made me feel confident that my car was in good hands. Second, I initially went in for an oil change, but the car needed other work done that was going to take 3 hours. Not only did Mark drive me home, but also picked me up when the car was ready. Highly recommend. Thanks so much guys!

Recently had a very difficult time removing and changing my license plates as I didnt have the right tools. After calling ahead, I was able to show up and immediately receive help to remove the plates. Went for an oil change. Oil change for under 30 dollars total/ at check out. Nice clean waiting room with toys: played with my daughter. They were crazy busy, but the staff was happy, smiled a lot, relaxed feeling, friendly and not overbearing. Overheard a staff comp a guys oil chamge because they were taking longer than expected and he seemed happy. Will be doing all oil changes here from now on!

I have a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix with a dual exhaust system fell off at the Y pipe. I called a lot of mechanics but only Midas could fit me in on short notice. Kyle DeMar the mechanic explained what needed to be done and showed me the mufflers and rusted pipes that would need to be replaced. I told Kyle that less than a month ago I had taken the car to Monro Muffler in Essex and they had attached 2 brand new mufflers. Kyle then showed me the welds they had done and it was obvious that they there were huge holes in the welds, on 2 pipes the welds did not even go all the way around the pipes!, and they had left a rusted through pipe in place. Kyle said they could re-use the mufflers but would need to re do all of the work that Monro had done and replace the rusted pipes. It was then discovered that one of the mufflers was cracked, Monro sent a replacement over and it was the wrong one, so a Midas employee had to drive over to Monro and get a new one! After all this, the time spent working on my vehicle was longer than expected so would cost a bit more, but Kyle gave me a coupon which brought the cost down to pretty much the original quote. In short Midas went way above and beyond what they needed to do, the customer service was exemplary and I felt like Kyle was being honest and did his best to explain everything to me (I know nothing about cars). If there is something wrong with your muffler I highly recommend going to Midas and definitely not Monro!! I have filed a complaint with Monro and they have been proactive in their response but that cannot excuse the state of the work they did.

I understand shops make some money off marking up parts and don't particularly like it when customers bring their own, but this place is a little ridiculous. $140/hour labor rate because I brought in my own wheel bearing. Plus, the mechanics are amateurs. I'm no certified technician by any means, but I knew I didn't need a steering rack when they were certain I did. It seems as if they try to pull the jiffy lube-like scams. Furthermore, the manager was an ass after his imbecilic employee couldn't give me a straight answer when I had some questions about my outrageous bill. Save yourself the time, money and stress by never going to one of these chain garages. Go find yourself a reliable, honest, sincere, local mechanic who deserves the business.

Really outstanding people and service. I cannot say enough good things about them. Ed, Eric, Kyle, Chris, Susan and a number of others I know I am forgetting or simply have not met, are all fantastic. I've owned the same model vehicle for almost 10 years and they get the work done as well and as quickly as I've ever had anyone accomplish. They put me at ease by exercising great patience, flexibility and really listening, to me and all sorts of other customers every time I'm in there. This review is long overdue because I've had a ton of work done there over the last few years and they've been consistently this good throughout. Burlington and they were super busy, but said to bring it in for a look. Understanding our situation, they went above and beyond to help, rush ordering a new part and helping right away. I was very impressed with the excellent service I received at this Midas shop last week for my 1997 Toyota 4Runner. I had previously taken the 4Runner to a brake/muffler shop and a mechanic and my experience with this Midas shop was exponentially better. Their staff is clearly above the competition in terms of diagnostic skills, repair skills, and customer service. I spoke with several employees on the phone and at the counter and their attitudes were all very friendly, positive, and helpful. They were extremely patient working through the unexpected problems that always arise when you start work on a 16-year-old vehicle. They were outstanding at communication about the work, changes, and costs as the job progressed. I like to support local business and I often shy away from large national companies, but this franchise is a business I will definitely support and recommend.

I went in on a Friday morning with a really low back tire. I didn't have an appointment and the lobby was full of people waiting for their cars being serviced and there was a person at the counter. I thought I was going to be turned away but when I explained why I was there they told me they would take a look at it. I took my seat and waited, bracing myself to buy a new tire or at the worst buy whole new set. A while later the gentleman at the counter motioned me up, and told me they had found a screwing my tire that I must have driven over sometime the day before. He explained how they took the tire off the rim to seal it properly and replace it on the rim before balancing it. It was all fixed. I waited for the bill and when none came I asked for it. The gentleman told me there was no bill; that is a service they provide for free. I had taken my car to Burlington Subaru on Shelburne for an oil change last month and would have had to pay $30 extra for a safety check. To be told my tire was fixed for free and my car was safe to drive was completely shocking. And, no attempt was made to hustle me into scheduling any other service. I recommend Midas Auto Service without reservation!

I want to commend Midas in South Burlington on their excellent customer service. I came in very close to closing time as they were wrapping up for the day. When I explained that my oil gage had gone from 5% to -17% very quickly, they were accommodating and fit me right in for a servicing. This has been to long coming! The day before I was supposed to pick up my daughter for Christmas, my car broke down. My car was going to be out of service for several days (through no fault of Midas). I was not well and had to be able to get to several doctors appointments. I was already in financial crisis and was convinced that Christmas was going to be ruined for my family. I went to Midas in December to get tires put on. They did a complementary check on all other parts of my car. My state inspection was also due, they told me I would fail because of a foggy head lamp and my serpentine belt. $750 in repairs! No Thank You. I wen't to Heritage Toyota in Shelburne I told them what was up and that my head lamp has always been foggy. They checked it out I would pass, they even cleaned the inside of my headlamp, I asked how much it would be for my serpentine belt to be replaced they said $120 so I did the repair. That will be my first and last time going to Midas. Always get a second opinion if you are going to Midas.

I brought a 2007 VW in excellent condition to this Midas to be inspected and they gave me a laundry list of things that needed to be fixed. In total they said I needed over $1,300 worth of work - including replacing things like a "slightly torn windshield wiper" and defective struts. I happen to know a little bit about cars so I knew these things weren't necessary. I took the car to a reputable place the following week and it passed inspection no problem. I recommend you get a second opinion if the people at Midas tell you your car needs work done.

I brought my car to Midas in October when I realized my tires were about to pop because the steel belt was showing through and I badly needed an oil change and inspection (I am not the most responsible car owner). Now I do have to say, they were the only place that would take me on such short notice. So they get points for that. I already owned the new tires I was having put on. I dropped my car off and received a call a few hours later letting me know that my car needed a lot of work and it wouldn't be done that day. When I went to pick up my car, I paid around $250 for the tire changeover, inspection, and oil change. They told me that my car failed inspection because of clouded headlights, brake lines rusted out, and they "thought" that my front brakes were bad but couldn't tell me how bad. I asked for a quote for the work and they weren't sure but said it would probably be around $1000. The headlight de-fogging was going to be around $120, the brake lines $200, and the brakes of indeterminable ruin would therefore cost around $700 to fix. For just the front brakes. I have a question for Midas. How can you not know how bad the brakes are when you are doing an inspection of the vehicle and you have the tires off because you are doing a tire changeover? Wouldn't that be the optimal time to, you know, examine the brakes? Another thing about Midas is that they send you pictures of what failed. Like my failed brake lines. They sent me a picture of them so I would know how bad they are. Of course, they are banking on the fact that I don't know what brake lines look like. They think that they can trick people into doing work by sending pictures of the undercarriage of a car. For all I knew that was some other part entirely. Funnily enough, they didn't send me any pictures of my brakes. I'm not sure Midas knows where the brakes are located though. I ended up taking my car to Burlington Brake and Muffler after waiting for a chance to get in. They told me my brake lines are fine. I cleaned my own headlights and they passed no problem. Fun fact, toothpaste and a toothbrush is a heckuva lot less than $120. Luckily, the folks at Burlington Brake and Muffler know how to find the brakes and identify the state that they are in so they were able to tell me that my pads and rotors needed to be replaced and my total, with inspection, is $375. Don't go to Midas. Don't trust them when they send you pictures and try to force meaning on them. They don't know what they are doing if they can't determine how bad brake wear is on a car when they have the tires off.

After taking my car in for an oil change and AAA's free summer inspection Midas claimed that I needed almost $1000 of various repairs. Not sure if it's the corporate protocol or not, but after taking my car to another mechanic only one of the repairs was truly necessary.

Got my tires mounted and balanced and barely 4 miles down the road I had to call them back because my steering wheel was shaking like crazy on the highway. They asked me to bring it back. They inspected the issue and realized the mechanic didn't properly clean my rim when he placed the weights for balancing. The mechanic admitted he was just being lazy right to my face and then apologized and said I should be all set. 3 weeks later I had to drive out to Rutland and around 70 mph my car started shaking again. I called Midas but they were closed. I left a voicemail explaining what was happening AGAIN and they never called back or reached out to me. Will never do business with them again.

After receiving lesser quality service from other shops around town, I have found everyone at this Midas to be some of the most up-front and honest mechanics in Burlington. They never will take advantage of an owner and always look out for the your best interest. Comparing quotes online as well as with other reputable shops in the area, they are virtually equal. The free shuttle service is fast and easy and makes leaving your car there for the day super easy. Mr. Ed and Susan are some of the best to work with.

Darrin is a GREAT tech who helped me out BIG TIME. I'd like to thank him for dealing with my dramatic reactions in stride. You, sir, are a titan. There's a bit of a story here so buckle up (haha car puns): I got my car state inspected at midas 7/24/19. I was concerned about the tires, and my state inspection was due in a couple months so I though "hey, i'll just do it all in one go" cause scheduling around work is a bit nightmarish for me. I passed the inspection with flying colors aside from the tires, which I expected of course. No problem. I scheduled an appointment to have new winter tires stuck on 9/7/19. Everything worked out. BUT THEN, About a week later that Thursday, the oil light came on and there was some... substance... leaking from the under part of the car. I freaked out a little since I just had the oil changed 7/3/19 and so I called Midas. They werent open, so I left a message saying I'm just gonna drop it in the parking lot and I'll be there right when they open the next morning to have it looked at. I wanted to limit driving as much as possible. Used my partner's car to get to work. When I got to Midas on friday I told them the issue and they said they would look at it over the weekend. It was labor day weekend so I was totally comfortable picking it up tuesday. I was going camping in NH anyways! I got a call saturday from a tech, I believe it was Mark, who told me that he didn't find anything. He said the oil light was on and asked me if it was on when i dropped it off and I said yes. He said it's probably just a malfunction with the light because the oil level was fine and there were no leaks. I was relieved and they sent me home saying it really was nothing and implied that I overreacted. That's fair. I'm always a little paranoid about my car. It happens. I drove around in it all week, oil light blinking all the way. I figured I'd make a plan to fix that after the tires get replaced. My appointment for tires was finally here this past weekend! And LO AN BEHOLD! They put my car up on the lifter thingy and it WAS leaking after all. AND the oil levels were OVERFILLED. Hoo Boy. I wasn't mad. I just wanted some answers. How did this happen? Overfilled? How did extra oil manifest in my tank after I had it changed 7/3. I took action as soon as I noticed the oil light was on and I was sent home to drive with it like that..... I was also sent NO pictures of any of the inspection work they did that weekend.... Big Yikes, Midas. BUT LUCKILY! There was no damage to the engine. Darrin priced me out for a new oil switch and an oil change. On TOP of the new tires and tire change ($425). $585. I admit I misunderstood the price at first and thought it was $585 + $425 = $1010 and I REALLY had a panic attack. Sorry Darrin. I mean it. Then he explained that it was gonna be $585 TOTAL. Okay I can live with that!!! He even gave me a bit of a discount after the fact for my troubles of being jerked around the past week. With the tire disposal fee, I paid $535 total out the door. tires+tire change+oil change+oil switch and all the work. Pretty good I think!! TLDR: I knocked off a star from the stress of the oil light debacle, but over WONDERFUL service and good work on my car.

I took my '90 Honda Accord in and it was fixed the SAME DAY. It wouldn't start and when I took it to Midas they thought it was a bad fuel injector. They inspected it further and found that it was just a bad wire in the injector. They fixed it on the spot and, thanks to their further inspection, saved me ~$300. Everyone at the shop is nice and friendly. Their shuttle is also a nice convenience. However, they missed a leaking head gasket that another shop is repairing. I originally brought the car to Midas to specifically address an oil loss problem and to check the head gaskets. Repairs are also very confusing because it is difficult for a laymen (at least it was for me) to tease out from their recommendations what work actually needs to be done and what work is extraneous. The costs also seem unusually high.

Traveling up to Vermont from Connecticut to visit family when my car started acting up and broke down about two hours from South Burlington. Called Midas at a rest stop to explain the situation. They promised to put me on the schedule on Saturday so that I can travel back home on Sunday night. I had called the Nissan dealership first and they said they couldn't help me in that timeframe so I was already very thankful for Midas. Turns out my transmission needed repair due to a clamp on one of my lines that cools the transmission that was left on by another autobody shop in CT from when I had my radiator replaced. Midas was honest and caring about the damage that had been done to my transmission due to the mistake made. Kyle specifically was on top of it and kept me updated. Highly recommend Midas, especially if you know nothing about cars like me and don't want to be taken advantage of. They are friendly and honest and understand that your car is important to you and that they're expensive to fix.

Great people here - they have reasonable rates (unlike Essex Automotive) and will do only the work authorized. Had oil change done and asked them to check the battery as my warning light had come on. Even though the battery was nearly on it's last legs, they didn't pressure me to replace it right then. I ultimately went to them for battery replacement for this reason. You can't go wrong with these folks - some of the best in the area. Definitely will recommend them to others.

Trash shop that know nothing about cars we brought my mother's car there for a oil change they did a inspection on the front end and Chris ferdanan quoted it needed a inner tie rod end took us to look at the part and upon inspection It was not the tie rod it was the control arm bushings he fought up and down that it was the tie rod so we took it back to our shop to have DMV inspect the car and confirmed the same thing as I said the control arm bushings. Becareful of this place a bunch of part swappers that have no idea what's going on under the hood of a car if you make the mistake to have service done here get a second option or you will get taken for a money ride. DON'T GO HERE WORST PLACE FOR YOUR CAR!!!!!!

I stopped at a local pet food store on my way home from skiing only to discover my front tire was completely flat. Managed to pump with enough air to get to Midas who told me if I was there by 3:45 (Sat) they would take care of it for me. I pulled in around 3:30 and was all set by 4:15. They've been my taking care of me and my 2006 Honda for a few years now and each experience has been a good one!
