I can't say enough about how wonderful my experience's have been with Langway Chevorlet Volkswagon. I've purchased my last 4 vehicles from here, and each time the owner Jim Langway went out his was to make sure my experience was easy and stress free. I also can't say enough about the service department when I take my vehicles in for their oil change. The service represenatives are professional and explain exactly what is going to happen and what the cost if any will be.

I purchased a 2011 Subaru Outback on October 17, 2018 for $14,000 from Langway Chevrolet in Manchester Center, VT. The car was sold to me in “mint condition”. I drove the car back to Ithaca, NY where I live and noticed within the first few days of ownership that the car began to make noises. I made an appointment with my local Subaru dealership to have the car’s condition reviewed. The Ithaca Subaru dealership, Maguire, informed me of bad news: the car needs $2,000 worth of work. Their suggestion was to return the car or ask Langway to fix the vehicle. I called Langway and spoke to my salesman Brad to relay the issue: i bought a car from him and a week and a half later I find that the car needs significant work. Brad told me that he was unable to help me with the car unless I returned to VT. I asked Brad to speak with his supervisor and get back to me about how they could ease the issue of me having to take off work and get a hotel room for servicing that should have been ID’ed and fixed by his shop prior to my purchase. His manager never returned my call. The following day I called to speak to the owner and was told that he was too busy to take my call and that I would need to speak with the manager (the same manager who already hadn’t returned my call). I finally spoke to Russ Bauer (the general manager for Langway, both the Vermont and rhode island dealership). Russ informed me that if he were to help me and people like me, he wouldn’t be in business. Russ let me know that his priority is his customers. When I interrupted to remind Russ that I too am a customer, his response was “yeah you bought a car from us.” Russ did not express empathy, nor any concern for the fact that the vehicle i bought in supposed “mint condition” was in need of serious work. Russ told me not to trust my local dealership, that they were likely marking up the work and suggesting work that is unnecessary. Russ told me that he would review the service work done on my car in the past and let me know whether the items identified by Maguire Subaru of Ithaca had been identified by his shop and ignored. Russ reviewed the past service work and told me that the car was in excellent condition when it was sold to me, and he didn’t know what had happened to it while it was in my ownership (of one and a half weeks). Russ told me that Langway would not fix my car, even if i were to travel to Vermont. I find this surprising given the fact that my buyers guide has a limited dealers warranty checked. Russ told me he would send me the service records. This never happened. Three days after Langway told me that they could give me no support, the alternator died, while my husband was driving, and the car shut down. Again, I wrote to Langway to ask for the service records in hopes that I could find a warranty on the alternator. Brad let me know that they would have fixed this if I could bring the car in. Unfortunately, the car was dead and had to be towed to Maguire Subaru. I told Brad at this point that I was frustrated and disappointed in this car and experience and was seriously considering returning this car (something that many dealerships will allow you to do within 30 days of purchase), Brad informed me they would not accept the car as a return. After getting the vehicle towed to Maguire, I am now faced with $2500 in repairs (the alternator repair is $500) to a vehicle that I bought less than 30 days ago with no expressed effort or support from Langway dealership with whom I gave $14000. It is clear that the owner and the general manager have no desire to provide an acceptable level of customer service. They made their money off me and are done. The buying experience is pleasant enough, but once there is a problem, you are nothing to these people. Never in my life would I have expected to spend $14000 on a product of such poor quality, and to have a dealership take zero responsibility for the misrepresented condition of the vehicle. Its places like this that give dealerships a bad name.

I had to have my car towed there and they "fixed" the problem. Haven't even had the car back 24 hours ( got it back on Friday with all my taxes) and ALL THE LIGHTS CAME BACK ON AND IT WONT START AGAIN!!! Need to call again and see if they can fix it without charging me again!!!

Drove up from MA on 12/7/18 to see the Audi Allroad at Langway Volkswagon/Chevrolet, John Beshara was our sales person. Both owner and GM were on vacation so John said he would be handling the negotiations. The car was priced high and had been on their lot over 75 days so I was hoping they would be motivated to sell at a fair price. After 3 hours of listening to John brag about himself and his accolades we couldn't meet in the middle, he told us at least three times he's the only salesperson at the dealership.....they might want to rectify this quickly! The "one man show" refused to drop a penny on the overpriced asking and refused to come up a penny on his low ball trade in offer. When things didn't go his way he became petulant....he kept getting up from the table, walking in and out of offices and talking on the phone. Very unprofessional, John actually wrote the full asking price and trade amount on a piece of paper and slid it across the table to me! He also drew a smiley face on the bottom...so strange. At one point he stated my car needed tires! I had just replaced all 4 tires in June and showed him my receipt so he was outright lying and grasping at straws. He confused my interest in the car with the greed of his commission. John needs to go back to salesman school to refresh his negotiating skills and not waste peoples valuable time. Emailed owner and GM of my experience but they did not respond....not surprised. Would not recommend

**My only interaction was with the Sales department therefore I can't speak to the service or parts departments.** I suggest shopping elsewhere. After a very lengthy experience where my expectations were clear from the start, I left this dealership angry. I refuse to be spoken to like I am unintelligent, and greatly prefer not to be lied to repeatedly. Luckily the next car shopping experience at Aldermans Chevrolet in Rutland was not only fast, but also more enjoyable. Not to mention I drove away in the vehicle I wanted for the deal that the Langway Sales Team determined "unreasonable".

I went to buy a used car. We were greeted by a person who said he was the sales manager and also out sales person. I remarked to the salesperson that the price was high. He indicated he was willing to "Work with me on the price". After the test drive I made an offer on the car. The sales person said "I cant do it for that" I asked him what would be the best you could do. He left saying he would come back with the best price. He came back and said he had called the owner and he was not going to drop the price anything and we would have to pay the full sticker price. I dont have a problem with a no negotiation sticker but to promise me to drop the price and then renege on his word is a big no no. We then asked to speak to the Owner to express out dissatisfaction with being lied to. He said he wasnt available. We asked for the owner to call us and he said he would call. Again we were lied to and the owner never called. I drive for a living and have been to many car dealerships but this sets a new low for lack the minimum decency. BUYER'S BE WARE!

After a prolonged search I was able to find the exact car my wife wanted at Langway. As the dealership was several hundred miles from home all negotiating was done over the phone and text. We arrived at a conditional deal (its a used car so I needed to verify the condition). At no point during the negotiations or subsequent agreement did I feel any pressure. The car was priced very competitively to comparable vehicles so I was worried about the 'to good to be true' trap. Long story short, the car was actually better than described (I know what I'm looking for after all). I had lots of questions, but our sales person John Beshara was extremely patient, friendly, professional and very open. Again, there was no pressure whatsoever. The deal was exactly as we had agreed to - no hidden costs or last minute add on business. Post delivery paperwork (out of state DMV forms/fees) were all sent to me as promised without any issues. I decided to wait 2 months after delivery in order to allow the euphoria of the new car purchase to wear off. At this point I can confidently say that the entire transaction, from start to finish, was handled in a very professional and no pressure manner. There was no attempt to deviate from any agreed terms and the car is everything my wife hoped and wanted! Thanks John and the entire staff of Langway Chevrolet for an excellent car buying experience!

I came in Saturday afternoon about a half hour before the service area closed, a non-customer who they'd never seen before and would never see again, and they were GREAT to me! I was about to get on the road for a long trip with three other people and worried about a low-tire-pressure signal I was getting on my car--had I picked up a nail? did I have a slow leak? If I left it along would we be sitting by the side of the highway waiting for AAA in a few hours? The service manager, Tammy, was so kind and helpful, and Ethan, the tech on duty, took over. He checked the tire out, found no leaks or nails, re-set the TPM monitors and re-assured me it was most likely a sensitive TPM monitor reacting to the temperature change between overnight chill and daytime warmth. That turned out to be the case, so Kudos to them for saving my sanity, blood pressure and weekend.

Service here has gone down tremendously. I've been going here for years and keep putting my faith in them only to be let down again and again. Brought my only car in early morning bc of overheating and smoking. I left it there so I can go to work. I'm a father of 2 children and we rely on our car. Front desk person "Greg" I believe was VERY rude to me. Acting as if I didn't need my car anymore, claiming it needed a part they didn't have. I asked for a rental and he claimed they were all gone?? What am I to do??? Had to call enterprise and spend 250 for a rental. 3 days later I got my car back and a 350 bill. I can honestly say that I will NOT be doing business with them ever again and certainly don't recommend anyone there.

Unfortunately we had a very good experience the first time we bought a car here, but we tried to buy a second one and ended up walking out feeling insulted. They had a car on their lot for over 400 days - yes 1 YEAR and almost two months - and they would not even come down in price $300. They told us they were already losing money on the car, and when we pointed out it’s been sitting there for over a year, they said “oh that’s normal” - SERIOUSLY?! I’m ultimately glad they wouldn’t negotiate down from $22,000 to $21,700 as we went to another local dealer and bought a brand new car for $6,100 off MSRP as it was Presidents’ Day weekend and every dealer in the area was having a major sale. To add insult to injury, months later, Langway ended up transferring the car to their dealership in RI and listed it for $2,000 less. Stupid business decisions lose customers. We’ll never be back!

I’ve gave Langway a few chances and everytime I seem to be disappointed. My first time I had a bad experience is when I had a light out and I wanted them to fix it. $100 later it still wasn’t fix and they told me I needed a new harness but I took it to Kinney in Rutland and they fixed it for free in less then 5 minutes. My second time here that I had an issue with was on not one but TWO different occasions, they claimed on the invoices they filled my washer fluid and charged me for it but they were at the same level that it was when I brought it in. (I did mark the the level with a sharpie the second time.) The final straw was when I recently brought my car in and they neglected to tell me that my brakes were pretty worn out and should be replaced and marked on their 29 point safety check that the brakes were good. In less then a week, I bought my car to Kinney in Rutland, Vermont and they told me my front brakes were not safe and needed replacing when I was there getting snow tires on. I asked them would that happen in less then a week and was told no it wouldn’t. I would not recommend Langway to anyone to be honest. When a dealership ignores the safety of their customers, that’s not a dealership I want to go to or would want anyone else going to. I would recommend Kinney in Rutland, Vermont.

Great service. I have leased two brand new Silverado 1500 trucks from Langway. Have been treated very well. Everytime I go there I am greeted with a smile and get all of my questions answered about upcoming models or about any vehicle on the lot. I've never had any issues with getting oil changes, tires or any other services. I was able to get a small dent on my rocker panel fixed very quickly at a very reasonable price. My husband and I recently purchased a 2018 GMC Yukon Denali from this location. The staff was very informative and a pleasure to work with from start to finish. We never felt pressured and John even stayed late on a holiday weekend to show my husband the car after I had noticed it while visiting the shops ( sorry for that!) . After researching this specific car and going to other dealers in NY where we live, we felt this price was very fair. My husband noticed a slight scratch on the speciality rim and John had the rim fixed the following week before we picked the car up. Good as new! My husband was very happy with the result. I took a vehicle in to find a problem with the headlights coming on whether the van was running or not. I expected a huge bill as I know tracing down electrical shorts can be very labor intensive and difficult to find. The pros at Langway found the short in short order! The cost was unbelievable reasonable. Here was a situation that could have been costly and or the dealership could have taken advantage and they did not. Great experience, if there were more than 5 stars they would have gotten all of 'em.

Below poor service. I was having mechanical issues with my Ford, went into the rental side of Langway. There were at Least Five people behind the counter, pointedly ignoring me. (this Tuesday around 3 PM) I waited Ten minutes with all staff less than twenty feet from me, and then asked the closest woman, "well is this a rental agency? I need to rent a car." She looked at me disdainfully and replied, " Oh, we don't have any cars to rent out". Never mind my rating might allow the outright purchase of such a vehicle, I would NEVER recommend these local hicks for anything.

They didn't offer me much for my trade, and when I told them specifically what I needed to do the deal, they refused and let me walk out the door. Then I went to Langway. Holy cow, what a difference! Chevy AND Volkswagen? I specifically asked that they apply for financing through VWCredit, as I have a decent relationship established with them (I currently own four veedubs and an audi)... they ran my credit with basically everyone BUT Volkswagen; I'll never do business with them again because of this. Several inquiries will hit your credit fairly hard (not enough to do real damage if it's solid, but every point counts) and the fact that they really have no knowledge of how to handle an out of state sale is disheartening. Buyer beware- they will send you home with plates that aren't even recognized for interstate travel... clowns. The whole lot of them! After researching the dealership a bit further; it's no wonder they're no longer in Bennington.

I recently purchased a used vehicle from Langway in Manchester. I have owned the vehicle for two months and drive it 100 miles to and from work every day. The entire sales team and the service staff at Langway have exceeded my expectations. The sales process was thorough and every question was answered with confidence. I have had two separate interactions with the service team, once for a fast realignment (at no cost), and most recently for to check a rattle on a heat shield. I was in and out in under twenty minutes on both occasions. I highly recommend Langway and John in particular because I enjoyed his professional no-hassle approach.

My car battery died while visiting Manchester. After two failed boost attempts i decided to bite the bullet and head to the nearest garage (Hand Motors). Expecting to have to shell out hundreds of dollars for a diagnosis/solution i was so impressed when the tech not only drove me back to my car in his own vehicle, but then refused any kind of payment after boosting my car. Everyone i dealt with from Hand Motors were sympathetic, understanding and helpful in this stranded canucks time of need. Top notch staff, don't know what i would have done without them.

We've brought our new Atlas to Langway Volkswagen twice so far for oil changes and a few recalls and our experience has been nothing but great. Janine in service has taken care of us both times, she got us in on a Saturday with no appointment for an oil change and we were in and out and under an hour and they also washed the car which was an added bonus.
